I'm here! Sorry was going through some stuff earlier. Let's move this along shall we?
~* Maria *~
After lunch, I head towards my classes with Liz's odd behavious on my mind. She was't acting normal, she was almost...giddy I guess. And she smirked! Since when does Liz Parker smirk?!
Something definatly has been going on. I'll have to remember to interogate her later. As I enter class (history, oh joy...) I spot Michael and hurry up to him, glad to have him here with me. I need someone to keep me awake.
"Hey Space boy." I chirp as I sit down next to him.
~*~
This was just a transitional part to allow the Max/Liz talk to happen. Afetr that let's just get to the Crashdown

"Hey Maria," I say as she sits down besides me in History. She's the best thing about that class. Not that some of the stuff isn't interesting, but it just doesn't compare to a best friend. Or a girl-friend. That's what she is now, right?
Liz is in Bio now so it's just the two of us. At least, as far as I'm concerned. I give her a warm smile, hoping that I'm on the right page here. I always like seeing her, but this is a little different.
"Any idea what's up with Liz?" I ask. It seems like a safer topic. I know she's my sister and all, but a lot of time she confides in Maria instead of me. 'Girl-talk' she calls it. I definately think something is up.
*MAX*
I take my seat in Bio next to Liz. She gives me a look through her lashes and the edge of her hair. I think it's a smile. I start to smile back before remembering to keep things low-key.
"Hey, Liz," I tell her, like it's nothing. But she actually asked me out Saturday night. I can't believe how getting shot has got my whole life turned around in the best possible way.

I've borrowed michael and liz. Hope you guys dont mind but we need to push this along.
~* Maria *~
I frown slightly at Michael's question, having been wondering that myself. "No, I have honestly no idea...though she is acting strange." I shrug slightly. "Maybe she'll tell me today."
Just then theetacher entered and we turned to listen to her. After what seemed like hours, the class ended and I sighed in relief. I get to go home...
"Oh no!" I groan out loud when I remember I have to work. "We have to get to the Crashdown...I was so hoping to sleep for a while."
Michael smiledat me and gave me a light kiss. "Think of it this way...you get to see me waering antennas today."
I laughed at that, dragging him towards our lockers where Liz was waiting. "Hey...all set to go?" i asked her.
Liz smiled and nodded. "Yep, let's get out of here."
With that all threeof us made our way to the Crashdown

After our last class, Liz heads off to see her brother and Maria. I hang back and let her go. I'm sure Michael knows that I know. I don't know how he feels about that since we haven't spoken at all. I really want to, but I also know that as far as the school knows, nothing special happened at the Crashdown yesterday. There's no reason why I'd suddenly be friends with Michael and Liz. Especially Liz. And Liz did say that Michael wasn't to know that she's already asked me out.
"Hey, Max," Kyle calls, catching up to me. "Whatcha wanna do today."
"Um, the Crashdown, I guess," I tell him. "Unless you wanted to talk some more."
Kyle nods, his grin fading. "Um. Sure, we can do that." He pulls me into a nearby classroom, which isn't quite empty. He waits for a moment, pretending to be in the middle of a conversation about the latest Comet's victory while the last students leave. Then he turns serious. "Are you feeling weird about this now?"
"No, surprisingly, I'm not," I tell him. I have had longer than he knows to get used to the idea of real aliens in Roswell. Nearly a full day now. :I'm fine. Honest."
He nods slowly, seeming to believe that. "Well, I guess it's off to get some more Saturn rings," he says. As we walk into the Crashdown, I'm surprised to see Michael at the register, wearing anteanae.
"Hey, Michael," I tell him as I come in. Should I ask about why he's not working the grill? Would that be too obvious? I wish I knew how he felt about all this, but there's too many people around, including Kyle.

I can't believe I'm actually wearing these things. It's all I can do to keep from blasting a hole in something. Or maybe mind-warping everyone who comes in to make them not see them. But I know better than that. The mind-warping is a bit scary and Liz and I almost never use it. My best consolation is hearing Maria singing as she announces the specials. She actually has a great voice. The first couple times, she looked extremely awkward, but she's gotten only good comments. In fact, she winked at me, her tips are even bigger than usual. Grrr. She's not supposed to be enjoying this.
Finally, Max and Kyle come in. I wonder what took them so long. "Do you need a menu?" I ask after Max says hello. I try hard not to stammer. Why can't I forget about these annoying antennae? I can feel them everytime I move my head. I feel completely rediculous.
"Nah, I don't think so," he says. I watch him carefully, wondering how he's really taking all this. The news about us, I mean. Is he gonna crack? He seems a bit awkward, tense, but I don't think he's afraid. I hope that's a good sign.
"Okay," I say. I lead them to a table in Liz's section so she can complete her part of the bet. "Enjoy your meal."

After school I make my way to the Crashdown. I know I'd be the only one at home, and I'm hoping to try again to convince Alex to talk to the others.
I walk in and look around, noticing as I do that Michael is seating Max and Kyle while wearing the funniest anteanae. I think about sitting with them, but decide instead to sit in my own booth and do some homework while I wait for Alex.
I thump into a booth in Maria's section and look perfuntorily at the menu

Okay, this was not going exactly as I had planned it would. I mean, I had never imagined when I had taken up this dare that I would get...embaressed! But that's exactly what was happening. I was absolutely dreading having to sing the menu to more people. It seemed like the enitre town had decided to drop in today!
What? Did someone hand out flyers or something? I wondered with a scowl as I watched yet more people enter. Couldn't they eat at home today?
My eyes roved over the workplace, lingering on Michael and his antennas. A smile tugged the corner of my lips as I watched him hand the menu to people. Well, there was one good and amusing thing to come out of this. Somehow, seeing Michael doing this made me love him more. Resisting the urge to go over and kiss him, I tore my gaze away from him and resigned myself to taking yet more orders.
I saw Tess sitting in my section and I stifled another groan. I could already see the smirk on her face. Picking up my order pad, I grudingly made my way to her.
Plastering a smile on my face, I sang. "Welcome to the Crashdown. May I take your order?"

Maria walks up and sings at me and I have trouble stifiling my laughter.
Not sure exactly how to respond I look at her strangely for a second and then feel the evil demons that live within rear their little heads.
'Umm, well, do you have any specials today? I'd really like to hear about them'

I glare at Tess as she unsuccessfully tries to hold back the laughter. She just had to ask that, didn't she? I'll bet anything that she recalls all the specials by heart and is just doing this to tease me.
"Sure." I grit out. Clearing my throat a little, I sing them out to her one at a time. By the time I'm done, not only is Tess in fits but I catch Michael, Liz and a few other customers looking my way with a grin.
Ohh...why did I have to bring this dare up? I wonder while I wait for Tess to recover and order.

I can't help but smirk as Maria is singing to the customers. She sounds great but I can tell she's not enjoying it. She might feel differently if she were on a stage where people expected her to sing, with music and all. It's definately worth the price of admission, I think.
Then the bell on the door rings and I turn to see who's there. Of course, that makes the antennae bob and I feel myself tense up. It's all I can do to prevent myself from ripping them off my head and to force a smile onto my face instead.
"Be right there," I tell the customers as I head towards the front of the cafe. On the way, Max gestures for my attention.
"What's up with Maria?" he asks.
The smirk crosses my face again. "Don't you think she has a great voice? I think it's wonderful for her to share her talent. Don't you?"
Kyle shakes his head. "I wouldn't do it on a bet," he says.

A bet! That's what all this is, I realize. Liz's part was to ask me out, but Michael and Maria are part of this, too.
"Um, where's Liz?" I ask. "I think we're ready to order."
"I'll let her know," Michael says with a smile and a nod. The nod sets the antennae bobbing and I see him grimace. "I have to get these customers," he adds and then leaves.
