Let's see. What to wear? I already have on black pants, so maybe a black button-down shirt with white tie? Or a red tie? I glance over at Alex and see that he's dressing in a much more relaxed style. Should I go with a plain tee-shirt? Maybe I'm over-thinking this, but I have a feeling the girls are going to be a lot more dressed up.

Concidering how great Tess looks, I decide I better stick with the original thought. I put on the shirt and tuck it in. "Are Maria and the other girls ready, too?" I ask Tess.

Isabel looks pleased with my compliment. At least someone knows how to appreciate me. And she likes the way I look, too. Yeah. This is great. Maria's a great girl, but she's so confusing. Maybe Isabel will be a better bet...

Or at least that's what I think before she goes fishing for another compliment from Kyle.

I shrug, waiting to see what he'll say and if it makes Isabel any happier.

“Do you think I look alright, Kyle?” Is she hitting on me? Yes!

"Well, I'd be a fool to think not think so. In fact, you look way better than alright." I'm rewarded with a big smile and can't help but give myself a mental pat on my shoulder.

Okay, people always say that the only thing you have to be afraid of is fear itself, so ... here goes nothing.

"Any plans for tomorrow night, Isabel?"

Isabel

I deepen my smile at Kyle’s compliment. It wasn’t the beautiful that I was searching for but its slightly better then Michael’s attempt. Kyle doesn’t look as scared as he did when I first walked into the room, in fact he actually looks comfortable, which would have to be a first.

I wonder where everyone else is, I swear Liz should have been down already and where is Alex? I mean, he’s a guy for heaven’s sake, he should have been ready way before me.

“Any plans for tomorrow night, Isabel?” Kyle asks.

I snap my attention back to Kyle, okay so is he asking me out on a date or is he just innocently inquiring about my plans? Damn, I’ve completely lost my touch when it comes to the opposite sex. “I don’t think I’ve got any plans, why?”

KYLE

She didn't say no - of course she didn't, I'm good looking after all.

"Well, we didn't really get to know each other so far, so I thought going out for diner would be way to change that." I give her my most charming smile, ignoring the frown that crossed Michael's face for a second. Loser!



ALEX

Tess says she isn't sure about Liz but that Maria should be ready soon. I guess I Max and Tess some time alone and go looking for Liz, if Max doesn't need me anymore.

"I guess I go checking on Liz to make sure she doesn't overhear anything and keep her busy till she gets her surprise." I grin, thinking that she will be really surprised about Max's gift.

"She's probably in her room." Tess tells me and I nod.

"Cool. I guess I'll take her downstairs to the others then."

Isabel

“Well, we didn't really get to know each other so far, so I thought going out for dinner would be way to change that.”

Well, color me surprised. Kyle is actually asking me out on a date! My Valentino dress has never let me down before when it comes to getting some attention so maybe I shouldn’t be too surprised but to be honest, I expected Michael to ask me out or at least try and do something instead of Kyle.

I hesitate, I don’t know if going on a date with Kyle is such a good idea. After the whole Jake episode, I swore off dating while I’m staying in the house but then again, it would be nice to be wined and dined for a night. My ego could use a little bit of flattery and Kyle seems like a nice enough guy. Where the hell are Liz and Alex when I need them the most?

Oh, what the hell?

“Sounds like fun,”

KYLE

I cheer inwardly and grin at her. "Cool. It's a date then."

Just then Liz and Alex enter and I smile at them smugly and ... shit, Alex likes Isabel. Oh well, it's not like I want to marry her. But having some fun with her still beats watching Tess all over Max. And honestly, Isabel looks more than okay in that dress. She'll have all the guys in the club starring at her ... and I can bask in the knowledge, that tomorrow she is going out with me.

"I'll pick you up at ... seven?" I ask with a chuckle, knowing how absurd that sounds since we live in the same house.



ALEX

I just finished telling Liz the story on how I managed to burn our toaster as a kid when we walk into the living room where Michael, Kyle and Isabel are.

"Cool. It's a date then." Is all I hear Kyle say and since I assume that he isn't dating Michael that can only mean ... oh great! First she wants Max, than Jake and now Kyle? I guess it's a sign that I stand no chance.

I notice Liz looking at me a bit worried but I give her a reassuring smile and lead her to the couch, making sure that I sit between her and Michael since I'm still not sure about what went on between Liz and him.

Unfortunately, I am sitting almost opposite of Isabel and I can't help but admire how radiant she looks. 'Stay strong Whitman. She just got a date with another guy - again. You better go on and try to find a love life somewhere else.'

"Excited about going out as an adult for the first time?" I ask Liz, trying to pay attention to her and ignore the talk between Iz and Kyle.

*Michael*

I glare at Kyle as he starts flirting with Isabel, but he seems to be completely obvious. What is this with the guys here? Max doesn't have a clue. Kyle can't see when he's chatting up the wrong girl. Isabel is my second chance, not his. He should be with Liz.

Or, if he doesn't want Liz like he says, then there's -- Okay, not Maria or Isabel, so that leaves Tess. Yeah! Tess. She ain't responding to me but maybe jock-boy can get her away from the babe-stealer. That would be cool. I gotta see this idiot taken down, somehow...

Then I realize that Alex is talking to Liz. I give her a nod and a partial smile. She smiles back, coldly. I shrug, inwardly. Dunno what's up with her. Sure, I kissed her and she didn't like it, but I did apologise at the beach. She said it was cool, but she don't act like it. Well, sometimes she does. Sometimes it's like we're regular friends, but then sometimes she gets cold like that. Oh well.

"Excited about going out as an adult for the first time?" Alex asks.

Liz doesn't answer right away, so I jump in. "Who wouldn't be?" I ask, rhetorically. "She's gonna get wasted. Right, Liz?"


*Max*

I nod at Alex as he leaves, feeling just a bit surprised that Tess is still here, although it's no big deal. It's just that I still need to call Kels back. Hope I can do that without seeming suspicious.

"I just gotta go wash up. I'll just be a minute." I tell Tess as I slip my phone into my pocket. She nods, sitting down on the bed.

I go into the bathroom and I do just that. I wash my face and brush my teeth and then I call Kels. "Sorry," I tell her. "Someone walked in. You're under control?"

She assures me that the directions we sorted out are working out okay so far and she's sure she'll be there. "Great. We'll see you in a few minutes," I say and then bid her good-bye. Stepping out of the bathroom, I offer Tess my arm and ask, "Ready to head downstairs then?"

ALEX

I'm surprised when Michael speaks instead of Liz answering and then his words sink in. I turn to look at Liz more closely but ... really, I can't picture her being drunk. No, that would be like ... Kermit the frog taking LSD. But then again, maybe there's an animal hiding inside her, begging to come out.

Just then, Max and Tess walk into the room, holding hands and there's a frown on Liz's face for a second. I feel your pain girl, believe me. But in an hour or so, Liz won't be thinking so much about Tess and Max anymore.

I look over at Max with raised eyebrows, hoping that he can give me some kind of sign that everything went alright with Kels but since he seems pretty relaxed, I take it that everything ran smoothly.

I smile flirtatiously at Kyle. “It’s a date then,”

I just pray that he comes up with a few better compliments by tomorrow night. A girl needs to feel wanted, of course not too wanted. Its going to be fun, I can tell already, Kyle seems like a great guy and it will be nice to get out of the house and away from the crowd. Sometimes, its nice just to breakaway for a few hours.

I send a smile towards Alex and Liz. Its weird that they aren’t sat over this side of the room with me, normally we always sit together. I wonder what’s going on. Shrugging, since its most likely that I’m being paranoid again, I grin at Alex, who happens to look kinda hot in that shirt and whistle, “Nice shirt, Whitman. Are you trying to impress someone tonight?”

ALEX

My attention turns to Isabel when I hear her whistle.

“Nice shirt, Whitman. Are you trying to impress someone tonight?”

I frown at her, unsure if she is joking or not. Of course me trying to impress her didn't really work out. "No, not really ... but thanks." I reply, still frowning a bit. Liz pinches my side lightly and motions slightly to Iz with her head. "You look pretty stunning yourself." I tell Isabel then after figuring out that Liz didn't want me to not compliment Iz. Of course, complimenting Isabel means that I have to look and her and make sure that I don't start drooling.

Hm, Isabel seems to be obviously not considering me as dating material. So I have two options now: 1. Being crushed, heartbroken and depressed about it or 2. being crushed, heartbroken about it and going out with Ashley from my departement who asked me to see Star Wars with her yesterday. I guess I'll have to give Ashley a call later when I'm picking Kels up with Max. Or sometime before the dinner/party starts
