Hi everyone, thank you so much for your patience, I know it has been a while since I've updated this. I'm hoping to get this finished while I'm on holidays, its starting to take its toll on me. Anyway enough of that. Thank you so much for your feedback, welcome to any new readers and hi to all the lurkers out there.

I would also like to thank you for your well wishes for my wedding. I had a fabulous day and a great honeymoon so thank you all so very much.

I hope you enjoy the new part.

Part 41

Isabel bounded into the apartment with excitement. She couldn’t wait to tell Alex the great news, that Liz had given the go ahead for him to move in.

Alex was engrossed in a documentary when Isabel bounced in the room.

“Hey” he smiled looking up from the TV for a few seconds.

“Hey” Isabel replied, kissing him as she jumped on the lounge next to him.

Drawing his eyes away from the television again Alex finally saw the happy smile on his girlfriends face.

“What’s going on?” he asked her.

“Well I just had lunch with Liz” she informed him. In reality she really should have gone back to work after lunch but she couldn’t wait to tell Alex the exciting news.

Lately work had become low on the priority list for Isabel, which probably came as a shock to her colleges. Luckily Isabel had the luxury of coming and going as she wanted and she figured that the seventy hour weeks that she put in for the past four years made up for the thirty she was doing now.

“That’s nice” Alex said.

“So I talked to her about our living arrangement” she told him.

“Really?” Alex’s eyes widened. He hadn’t expected that to happen so quickly. “What did she say?”

“She said that she thinks you should move in with us, that she would love for you to” she grinned brightly.

“Really?” he asked. “That’s great!”

“So does that mean you will?” Isabel asked him.

“Of course” he replied as he leaned in to kiss her. “As long as you truly want me too”

“I do,” she declared passionately. “I can’t bare the thought of not sleeping with you every night”

“I feel the same way sweetie” Alex smiled. “I feel the same way.”

***

The apartment was quiet when Liz arrived home a little before five. She wondered briefly where Isabel and Alex were but quickly forgot about them when she caught sight of the time. Her curiosity was peaked about tonight, wondering what Max had planned. But mostly Liz just hoped that tonight would be a new start between them. She hated the uneasiness she had felt with Max today and was starting to regret ever opening her mouth and telling him that she loved him at all.

After a shower Liz searched through her wardrobe to find a dress suitable for the night and eventually pulled out a floor length, pink satin dress that she had worn to her firms annual ball the year before.

Sliding it on with a pair of silver stilettos Liz appraised herself in the mirror.

“Perfect” she whispered at her reflection.

Choosing to let her hair flow down her back, she curled the ends and added some modest makeup, and after adding some jewellery she was ready to go.

***

Max stood nervously at the door to Liz’s apartment and waited for her to open it. He had a lot riding on tonight and he wanted it to be perfect, Liz certainly deserved that.

“Hi” her quiet voice startled him and when Max raised his eyes to meet hers his eyes bulged out of his head.

“Um wow,” he said. “You look spectacular, beautiful”

Liz blushed “Thank you”

Max was wearing a tuxedo much to her surprise, he looked more handsome than ever and she wondered what a man like Max was doing with her, how long did she really think she was going to be able to hold onto him, especially when he didn’t love her.

“You look very handsome,” she told him shyly. It felt like their first date all over again.

Sensing Liz’s nervousness and reluctance to make the first move, Max stepped forward and wrapped his arms around her small waist and leaned in to kiss her gently.

“Are you ready to go?” he asked when he pulled back.

Liz looked up at him with wide eyes, full of surprise but at the same time happiness, and nodded. “Let me just get my bag,” she replied before taking a step away to fetch it off the hallway table.

When she returned Max took her hand in his larger one and led her out of the apartment and into the lift. When the reached the bottom floor Liz was surprised to find a black limousine waiting for them.

Stopping a few steps away from it she looked at Max with questioning eyes “Max?”

“Is something wrong?” he asked.

“No, we’re going in a limousine?” she asked.

Max grinned “Yeah”

“But why?”

“I told you tonight was special, I’m going to make all your dreams come true and that starts with a limousine”

Liz grinned at his words. He really was incredibly sweet.

The driver helped her into the back of the car and Max joined her a few seconds later. It was almost an hour drive in the traffic to New York harbor where the boat that Max had borrowed of a client was waiting for them.

The drive had been quiet, Max and Liz holding hands the whole way while Liz took in the New York skyline around her.

“I really love this city,” she admitted.

“I know what you mean,” he agreed. “There is just something about it”

“I know” she replied. You couldn’t explain in words what it was about New York it was just a feeling you had.

Max gazed at the angel sitting next to him and suddenly began to feel nervous. Tonight was an important night in their relationship; even he was surprised by what he was about to do.

When the car came to a stop at the marina Liz looked around confused.

“What are we doing here?” she had suspected that Max was going to take her to a very expensive restaurant considering the way they were dressing.

Max just grinned “You’ll see” he told her.

He took her hand when they exited the car and began leading Liz in the direction of the boat. It was a 50-foot cruiser and the crew had already set up the boat for their arrival.

“Oh my god” Liz gasped when she caught sight of it.

Max stopped behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist “do you like it?” he whispered in her ear. There was a table set up for dinner, beautiful flowers and fairy lights everywhere.

“You did this for me?” she asked.

“Yeah” he nodded.

He could see the beginning of tears forming in her eyes and was quick to wipe them away. “Hey no tears ok” he laughed “this is supposed to be a happy night”

“I am happy,” she laughed at him.

Max led her to the boat then where they were greeted. “Good evening Mr. Evans, Ms Parker, dinner is ready whenever you like”

“Thank you” Max told them. “We’ll just look around and wait until we’re out on the Harbor before eating” he confirmed and that was exactly what they did.

Max showed Liz around on the boat that he had been on a handful of times, before they sat down to enjoy the view as they cruised onto the New York Harbor just as the final glows of the sunset were fading.

“This is so beautiful” Liz whispered awed.

“Not anywhere as beautiful as you” Max whispered. Liz turned and smiled at him and was amazed to find him staring at her with so much emotion.

He reached out and cupped her face gently before leaning in and kissing her. The kiss was slow and gentle, their mouths lingering, their noses touching.

Knowing it was the perfect moment and not being able to hold it back any longer Max finally spoke. “I love you,” he whispered. “I love you so much” he confessed.

His words were so faint that Liz almost didn’t hear him but when he repeated them there was no mistaking what she had heard or how her heart leapt at the words.

“Really?” she whispered, tears once again returning to her eyes.

“With all my heart” he promised.

“I love you too,” she whispered.

Their mouths came together again, this time more passionately, more urgently as both Max and Liz tried to convey their love and happiness in one kiss and when they pulled back they both had tears in their eyes.

“You mean so much to me, and I’m so sorry that you thought for even a second I didn’t love you” he apologized then.

“None of that matters” she told him. “You’ve just made me the happiest women alive” she laughed.

Max grinned “Good” he said “so maybe you’d consider making me the happiest man alive by agreeing to something”

“Well you have to ask me something first” she teased but all of a sudden she felt butterflies running around in her stomach. Surely he wasn’t going to ask her what she thought he was, even though she loved him with all her heart it was certainly to soon to get married, wasn’t it?.

“Well I was planning on asking you this for a few weeks but after you told me this morning about Alex, I realized that now was the perfect timing.” He explained. “Liz, I want you to move in with me?”

Liz’s eye lit up in surprise and delight at his question “Are you serious?”

Max laughed at her surprise “Very. I think its perfect, we spend most of our time at my house now and I hate the thought of you going home for any reason” he informed her.

“I know,” she whispered.

“Does that mean Yes?” he asked excitedly.

Liz grinned “Yeah it does. I would love to live with you,” she told him.

Max’s reaction was one of pure joy; he picked Liz up into his arms and whirled around in delight.

“You really mean it?” he asked again when he planted her down on the ground.

“Yes” Liz laughed “of course I do but I will have to talk to Isabel and Alex about it first to make sure they can afford the apartment and are willing to take over my half of the lease”

“We’ll take care of it regardless” he assured her. There was no way that he was going to let something as simple as money or a legal technicality stop Liz from moving in

“Mr. Evans dinner is served” one of the crew informed him then. Max led Liz over to the table and helped her into her seat before taking his seat across from her. The minute he was seated their hands sought each other out across the table.

Liz smiled. This was the single most perfect night of her life, she thought to herself. Max Evans loved her.

Part 42

1 Month Later

Max looked at the clock again, he knew he was really cutting it fine but he had to get these documents signed so that Margaret could have them couriered first thing in the morning.

Tonight the whole gang was getting together over at his and Liz’s house for dinner. Yes, he now considered it their place, and not his place anymore. It was actually an exciting prospect for both Max and Liz. It was Liz’s first dinner party and Max knew she would be furious with him if he was late.

After Liz had agreed to move in they had gone home and shared the news with Isabel and Alex. Although they were disappointed that Liz was moving out, they were very happy for them and assured them that they could manage fine without her. Liz moved in the next weekend. Since Max already had the house furnished, Liz left her stuff at Isabel and Alex’s apartment and just moved her personal things over. Slowly she was adding her own touch to the house though, which Max also loved.

Max heard movement in his office and assuming it was Margaret he spoke “I’m almost done Margaret, I’ll need you to courier these off in the morning but for now why don’t you head home” he said without looking up.

When she didn’t answer him Max looked up. “Tess?” he asked confused.

“Hi Max” she smiled coyly and then strutted into his office.

“Can I help you with something?” he asked confused at why she was in his office.

Tess approached his desk “I was wondering if there was something I could do to help you?” she asked.

Max frowned, “No thank you,” but he wasn’t stupid he knew exactly what she was offering to help with.

Tess pouted “You’re no fun anymore, Max”

Max sighed, and leaned back in his chair. “What exactly do you want?”

“You” she said bluntly.

“Well that’s not going to happen so why don’t you stop wasting both our time” Max said tiredly before picking up his pen and going back to the documents beside him.

“You liked it last time Max, and I’m pretty sure if you stopped over thinking things you would like it again” she continued.

“I have a girlfriend” Max revealed. “And believe me the last time wasn’t that good”

Tess huffed “You asshole” she spat. “How dare you?”

Max looked up and smirked “Easily. I’m the boss around here and if you continue to harass me you’ll find your self unemployed,” he warned her.

“Like hell!” she yelled.

“Don’t try me, Tess” Max warned again.

“Its her isn’t it?” she asked angrily.

“Who?” Max asked.

“Liz Parker” she spat.

Max looked up in confusion, what did Tess know about him and Liz? Except for the fact that they arrived to work together most days, they had been lucky to keep their relationship fairly quiet.

Tess smiled victoriously when she saw the look in Max eyes when she mentioned Liz Parker.

“I never forget a face Max,” she pointed out.

Max remembered then the day that Liz had showed up at his office when Tess was trying to seduce him.

“Liz Parker is none of your business,” he told her matter of factly.

“Right” she drawled out, a plan immediately forming in her mind. Tess walked to the door then. “Are you sure I can’t do anything for you before I leave?”

“No” he sighed.

“Night Max” she said in a singsong voice as she left his office.

***

Liz was sitting on their bed in her underwear when Max rushed in the room. “I know I’m running late” he apologized immediately. “The traffic was terrible, I’ve never seen it that bad at this time, normally it’s all gone by six,” he sighed as he pulled off his suit jacket and tie.

Liz smirked and lazed back on the bed to watch the show.

Max looked up when she didn’t say anything and finally took in what she was dressed in, or rather lack of dress.

“Wow” he said his mouth watering as he perused her curves.

“Come here?” Liz whispered huskily.

Max moved to the bed and lowered himself so he was lying on top of Liz, kissing her mouth passionately, hungrily.

“God you smell good” he moaned as he kissed her neck “and you taste even better” he groaned.

Liz’s hand worked his belt and zipper “What are you doing?” he asked.

Liz released him from his pants and stroked his already hard cock “what does it feel like?” she whispered.

“Oh fuck Liz,” he moaned. “We can’t though baby. I’m already late, everyone will be here soon”

“Uh huh” she shook her head.

“What?” he asked confused. It was already half past six and everyone would be there for dinner at seven.

Liz bit her bottom lip “I kind of changed your clocks” she admitted.

Max’s eyes grew wide “You mean?”

“Yeah it’s really only five thirty,” she told him.

Max stared at her in shock for a few minutes before his face cracked a brilliant smile “You little minx”

“I’m sorry but I knew you would never get here in time if I didn’t” she pointed out.

“I’m not that late!” he cried.

“No” she smiled “but now you’re early and you have time to fuck your girlfriend” she whispered huskily, her mouth moving over his neck as she pushed his open shirt off his shoulders.

“I love the way your mind works” Max growled, pouncing forward and ripping the lacy bra of Liz’s body. He cupped her breasts in his hands and squeezed them before lowering his mouth to suck a rosy nipple.

“Yes Max” Liz moaned.

Luckily for Liz, the roast lamb that she was serving for dinner was cooking in the oven and since she had left work early to get ready, the rest of dinner was all under control. So right now she planned on lying back and letting her sexy boyfriend do his best work on her.

Liz was amazed at how wonderful everything was between them since she had moved in. Since neither of them had ever lived with a partner she had expected a period of adjustment but everything had just been perfect.

Slipping a hand in between them Max began rubbing Liz over the lace of her panties. “Are you ready for me?” he whispered.

“Y-Yes” Liz moaned.

“Hmm you were waiting for me baby, were you horny?”

“Always” Liz moaned out again. Max slipped a finger under her panties and dipped it inside of her then.

“Oh yes Liz” he groaned, she was sopping and he couldn’t wait to be inside of her.

Moving down her body he pulled the panties off and settled between her thighs “I have to taste you” he whispered. He wasted no time with preliminaries, and thrust his tongue inside of her immediately, scooping out her juices.

“Max!” Liz cried out, her hips rising of the bed and pushing against Max’s face.

“It’s alright baby I’ll give you what you need,” he promised. He thrust a finger inside of her and moved his mouth over her clit, suckling on it until he felt Liz’s tight walls contract around his finger.

“Yes Max…”

Wasting no time Max pulled back and pushed his pants, and boxers down his legs before crawling back up Liz’s body.

“You ready for more?” he smirked. Liz might have started this little game but he planned on finishing it.

“Please…”

Max entered her in one smooth stroke and Liz automatically wrapped her legs around his waist and helped him settle into their usual rhythm. Not to fast but not too slow.

“Yes baby” he hissed. “You feel so good”

Liz’s walls were tight around his hard cock “Your sopping wet” he groaned, he was slipping in and out of her so easily.

“Always for you baby” she moaned.

Unable to take it that slow any longer Max started to pump in and out of Liz faster, with Liz meeting every one of his strokes.

“Yes baby…. Yes Liz” Max cried out, his orgasm washing over him.

“Ahhh…. MAX!” Liz cried out as her own orgasm followed quickly.

***

“Hmm something smells good” Max smiled as he walked into the kitchen. After a quick shower together, Liz left Max to get ready for dinner. She was now standing in a gorgeous red dress that fit her to perfection and Max couldn’t resist walking up behind her and wrapping his arms around her waist.

“Me or the food?” Liz teased.

“Both” Max grinned.

“Well thank you” she replied.

“So everyone is coming?” he asked.

“Yep” Liz smiled happily “and guess what?”

“What?” he asked curiously.

“Maria is coming with Michael” she smirked.

Both Liz and Max were aware that Michael and Maria had become close; they also knew that so far there was nothing more than friendship between the two of them.

“Maria told me today that’s she’s been seeing a psychiatrist” Liz admitted. At first she didn’t think it was right to share things that Maria told her with Max, but Liz had come to realize that she couldn’t keep secrets from Max and after a long talk with Maria about it, Maria revealed that she didn’t mind Max knowing.

Max’s eyes widened in surprise. “She has? That’s great” Max had believed that it would be the best thing for Maria to see a professional all along, and he was glad that she was seeking help.

“Yeah. For a bit over a month now” Liz smiled “I’m so proud of her, Max. She might have a long way to go but she’s trying”

Max nodded. “And I have no doubt that its all thanks to Michael” she added.

“What makes you think that?” Max asked. He knew how Michael felt about Maria and hoped that one day Maria could return the feelings.

“Because its not about seeing someone, its about wanting to get better, and I have no doubt that Maria wants to get better for Michael” Liz smiled happily.

“I hope you’re right” he told her, pulling her into his arms. “I really do”

Part 43

“You look good” Liz smiled at Maria.

Maria was helping Liz make coffee and tea for everyone. Dinner had gone off with out a hitch. Everyone had a great time and Liz’s food had gone down fantastic.

“I feel good” Maria smiled.

“So the therapy is helping then?” Liz asked curiously. The last thing she wanted to do was pry into Maria’s life but she wanted to know how her best friend was really doing. They still talked often and Maria would always hold a special place in Liz’s heart.

“Yeah it is,” she admitted. “You know I was against it at first. Even when you suggested it I thought you were just trying to push me off to someone else but I realized that you just didn’t know how to help me”

“What made you change your mind?” Liz wondered.

“Michael actually” Maria blushed.

Liz grinned back at her friend, it was so strange to see her blushing over a guy but since Michael had entered her life, Maria did all sorts of things that surprised Liz.

“He helped me realized that its okay to need help, he had his own problems and he told me that therapy really helped him move past it. I see Michael and he seems pretty together to me so I figured something about the therapy must have helped” she shrugged.

“Well it seems to be helping you and that’s all I care about” Liz smiled.

“Thanks” she grinned. “So what’s it like living out of the city?” she asked.

Maria had been extremely surprised when Liz called and told her about her plans to move in with Max. At first it had kind of stung that Liz was willing to move for Max when she wouldn’t for her, but that feeling left as quickly as it arrived and Maria was left just feeling happy for her best friend.

“Truthfully I love it” she grinned. “I travel to work with Max so the commute doesn’t bother me and I love living in a bigger house”

“It’s really beautiful,” Maria told her.

“Isn’t it?” Liz agreed.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen you look so happy,” Maria told her.

Liz looked at her friend concerned, she didn’t want Maria to think that she hadn’t been happy when they were together, in truth for the most part she was but being with Max was different.

“I was happy with you,” she told her.

Maria laughed, “Oh sweetie I’m over all that” she promised. “I know when things between us were good, they were good. But since you’ve met Max there is just something different about you, a glow of sorts”

Liz blushed “Really?”

“Yeah, I guess it’s just the happiness radiating off you”

“Well I am happy, deliriously actually” she grinned.

In fact Liz was happier inside than anyone realized and she couldn’t wait to share the news with Max and her friends but for the time being she just wanted to enjoy it.

“So when are you meeting his parents?” she asked.

Liz chuckled “I’ve already met both Phillip and Dianne before” It was somewhat of a relief that she didn’t have to go through the whole meet the parent’s thing with Max. Whilst living with Isabel in college and afterwards in their apartment she had come in to contact with Dianne a few times, and had met Phillip when she was discussing working at Evans.
“But we’re having lunch with them on Saturday” she added.

“Oh well that’s good, so it will only be Max that has to worry about wining the approval of parents”

“Yeah” Liz smiled. It had been quite a while since Liz had visited her parents, in fact her mother had been complaining about it only earlier in the week, which is why Liz had agreed to go home for Thanksgiving.

“Don’t look so thrilled about the prospect” Maria laughed “what are you worrying about your mother is going to love Max simply because he has a dick”

Liz giggled too “You’re right, and I’m not worried it’s just that I agreed to go for Thanksgiving and I haven’t discussed it with Max yet” she sighed.

“Well you better get to it” Maria pointed out, as she lifted the tray with all the coffee and tea on it and headed for the living room where everyone was waiting.

“I know” Liz agreed, lifting her own tray and following her.

***

“You did a fabulous job tonight” Max told Liz as he snuggled with her in their big bed.

“Thank you” she smiled, proud that everything had gone well.

“You’ll be hosting dinner parties for clients before you know it” he joked then.

“Really?” Liz asked excitedly. All her life she had wanted a career, and she loved it so much, but she couldn’t deny that the idea of being a wife, mother and even hosting Max’s dinner parties did appeal to her.

Max chuckled and looked down at her “Are you serious?” he asked surprised “would you want to do that?”

Liz smiled “Yeah I mean why not?”

Max caressed her face gently “I just didn’t think it would be your kind of thing” he admitted.

Liz’s eyes dropped “I want to do those type of things for you, the kind that a wife, a partner would do” she said shyly.

“I don’t expect you to, you know” Max whispered kissing her forehead before capturing her chin and raising her eyes to meet his “but I love that you want to” he smiled.

Liz grinned back and she rested her head on his chest and began drawing circles on his skin “Max, what do you normally do for Thanksgiving?” she asked.

Max shrugged “We normally just go to my parents for lunch” he said. “Why?”

“Well my mum wants me to come home this year, to Roswell. I haven’t seen her or my Dad in over a year so I agreed to go” Liz told him.

“Oh, ok” he said. He hated the fact that Liz would be going away, or that they wouldn’t get to spend their first Thanksgiving apart but he understood her wanting to see her family.

“I was hoping you would come?” she asked then.

Max looked down at her and smiled “you want me to come with you to Roswell for Thanksgiving?” he asked.

“Yeah” she smiled. “I don’t want to spend the holiday apart and it would be a good opportunity for you to meet my parents,” she explained.

“True” he grinned. Deep down Max was scared shitless of meeting Liz’s parents. He had never had a relationship before like the one he was having with Liz, which meant he had never done the parents things before. What happened if they didn’t like him? Would Liz break up with? And what would without her, she had become such a big part of his life?

“So…?” she asked.

“I’d love too” he kissed her top of her head.

“Great” she grinned. “And for the record you don’t have to worry they’re going to love you just as much as I do” she told him.

Max looked down at the angel in his arms in amazement. How did she know that was what he was thinking? And know the perfect way to put his fears at ease?

“I love you,” he whispered.

“I love you too,” Liz mumbled before drifting off to sleep.

***

“So Alex, how are you find New York?” Phillip Evans asked.

Since Isabel wanted her parents to meet Alex as well they decided to kill two birds with one stone and have one lunch, where Alex and Liz could be introduced. So far things were going very well for Liz. The Evans both remembered her and told her how happy they were that her and Max were dating. Liz had found it strange at first but one glimpse at the guilty looks on Isabel and Max’s face made everything clear. They hadn’t’ told their parents about the new living arrangements.

“Its great” Alex smiled. He had been nervous as hell about meeting the parents but he was doing his best to hide it. “I mean I loved Boston but it was missing the three essential things in my life,” he explained.

“What’s that?” Phillip asked.

“Isabel, Liz and Maria” Alex grinned proudly.

Liz automatically caught sight of the shocked and angry look on Phillips face and realized immediately that he misunderstood Alex. “Alex and I have been best friends since we were little” she spoke up “along with out other best friend Maria”

“Oh” Phillip said. “I didn’t realize”

Alex went bright red when he realized what he’d done but when Dianne Evans started chuckling it quickly relieved the tension.

“So you’re both from Roswell right?” Dianne asked.

“Yes” Liz nodded.

“Speaking of Roswell” Max spoke up “Liz and I are going there for Thanksgiving with her parents” he informed them.

“Oh” Dianne Evans frowned. “That’s nice” she lied.

“Oh Dianne you see Max when ever you like, Liz’s family is in Roswell and I bet she hardly see them” he said and the looked at Liz for confirmation.

“I haven’t seen them since last Christmas” she told them.

“What about you Alex, do you see your family often?” Phillip asked.

“Not a lot, sir but they do get out of Roswell a little more than Liz’s family” he smiled.

“Why doesn’t your family leave Roswell, Liz?” Dianne asked.

“Oh my parents own a restaurant and its very hard to leave it, and they can’t really afford to close it” she replied.

“Oh a restaurant how nice” she smiled “what kind of food”

Liz glared at Alex and Isabel when they snorted as Dianne’s question. “What?” Dianne asked, “Am I missing something?”

Liz blushed with embarrassment. “Liz’s parents restaurant in alien themed” Max explained with a smile. “Most of the tings on the menu are alien inspired”

”Oh” Dianne said.

“Pretty much everything in Roswell is like that” Alex explained. He knew how Liz got embarrassed about the Crashdown sometimes and Alex could tell that this one of those occasion. Phillip and Dianne were really nice people but they lived a more extravagant life then Liz and Alex, or their parents were used to.

“What does your family do Alex?” they asked then.

“My dads into computers like me, he does programming work for a company in New Mexico” he explained.

“That’s nice” she smiled.

“I still thinks it nice that after all the years you and Isabel have known one another and lived together Liz that you and Max have started dating.” Dianne said then.

“Thank you” Liz replied.

“Mum” Max whined at the same time.

“So Liz how are you enjoying working at the firm?” Phillip asked.

Liz’s face lit up “oh its wonderful” she told him “I’m really enjoying the work and its nice to work so close with Max”

“I bet it is” Isabel smirked.

“And at least you don’t live far so the commute wont kill you like it does Max” Dianne commented.

Everyone went quiet at the comment until Max finally cleared his throat. “Actually Mum, Liz knows the commute fairly well” he said.

“Oh, well then you know what I mean” Dianne smiled politely.

“Its not too bad” Liz shrugged. “I've got used to it and now I don’t even really notice,” she added.

Liz felt uncomfortable that Max was lying to his family and moved her hand off his knee.

Max cast a glance at Liz when she removed her hand and could tell that she was annoyed with him. It wasn’t like his parents would really care that he was living with Liz it was more for Isabel’s benefit than anything.

“Max should stay in two at the apartment more often” Phillip spoke up.

“It got a little crowded” Liz spoke up.

“Oh?”

“Yeah well with Alex there as well” Isabel explained.

“Oh!” Both Dianne and Phillip said. “We didn’t realize Alex was staying with the two of you”

“He’s not,” Max told them. “Alex moved in when Liz moved out a few weeks ago”

“Oh!” Dianne gasped again looking at her daughter and Isabel. “You didn’t mention anything honey,” she said.

Isabel waved it away as if it was nothing. “You and Dad have been away and it just kind of slipped my mind” it wasn’t really a lie, Phillip and Dianne had only returned from Europe a few days earlier.

“So where are you living now, Liz?” they enquired.

“She moved in with me actually” Max smiled.

Part 44

“How long are you going to stay angry?” Max sighed as Liz walked past him again without acknowledging them.

Liz had barely spoken two words to him since the day before after lunch with his parents. As far as Liz was concerned it had been a complete disaster and she was sure that they disliked her.

“What do you expect?” Liz sighed. In truth she was sick of being angry with him but all he had to do was apologize. “You should have told your parents about me moving in, I felt like I was eighteen and your parents were lecturing us on moving too fast too soon” she scoffed.

After revealing the living arrangements for both couples, Phillip had given Alex a stiff talk about responsibility and treating his daughter right and soon after Dianne went off on a rant about how in the old days people used to take things much slower.

Max’s face softened “I’m sorry sweetie” he said. “I know you felt embarrassed, and I’m sorry I didn’t tell my parents before lunch”

The corner of Liz’s mouth lifted in a smile and she allowed Max to reach for her hand and pulled her into his lap. “I don’t like it when we fight” he murmured against her lips.

“Me either” she agreed.

“I’ll have a talk to my parents, I promise” he told her. It wasn’t just their living arrangements that had upset Liz, she was also aware of how unpleased Dianne was that Max wouldn’t be in New York for Thanksgiving.

“Thank you” she whispered.

“They really like you, you know?” he said then.

Liz scoffed “yeah right”

“They do, they’re just not used to having to share either Isabel or I. We’ve never had serious relationships before”

Liz nodded, that was understandable she guessed. She was sure her parents would find it weird her bringing home a guy since they had spent that last five years resigned to the fact that their only daughter was a lesbian.

“Did you tell your parents we were coming?” he asked then. Max knew how excited Liz was about their trip home for Thanksgiving. He was excited too, but nervous at the same time. Max loved Liz and he knew she was the one so it was important that her parents accept him, just like it was important that his own did.

“Yes and I’ll arrange the flights tomorrow” she told him.

“Good” he smiled before leaning in to kiss her.

***

Liz yawned and looked at the clock again. It had been the longest week of her life and she was glad that it was almost over. She’d had three of the major cases she had been working on going to court for preliminary hearings that week, for some reason people were becoming more stubborn and more greedy when it came to their divorces, they didn’t want to pay a cent more than they had too.

Liz looked up when the internal door opened and Max poked his head in.

“Hey beautiful” he smiled.

“Hi” she grinned back. This was the first time she had seen him this morning, since she was in court she had driven her own car in. They had finally gotten the car a week before. It was a gorgeous little BMW and Liz was over the moon with it.

“How was your day?” he asked concerned. He could see how tired she was.

“Long. I’m just going to finish this and then I’m going to go home,” she told him. It already five o’clock and she wasn’t going to get much more done.

“Ok” he smiled. “I’m leaving now, I have to pick up our tickets from the travel agent” he told her.

“Oh thank you so much for organizing that” she told him. Liz’s week had gotten so hectic so quickly that in the end she had forgotten to book the tickets to Roswell but luckily Max had already asked Margaret to take care of it for them. It meant that the cat was out of the bag in regards to his relationship with Liz at work but Max wasn’t really worried anymore.

“I’ll see you at home” she smiled.

“Yep” he smiled before approaching the desk and kissing her goodbye.

Liz spent the next twenty minutes checking her email and finalizing everything that needed to be done before going away. She was packing up her computer when she heard the faint knock on her door. Looking up she was surprised to find Tess Harding standing there.

“Hi Tess” she greeted.

“Hi Liz” she replied. “Can I talk to you for a minute?” she asked.

Liz looked at the clock and sighed “Sure” she agreed.

Tess entered the office and sat across from Liz but remained quiet. “What did you want to talk about?” Liz prompted her.

“Actually its about Max” Tess said.

Immediately Tess saw Liz stiffen. “What about him?” she asked.

This would be so easy Tess smiled to herself.

“I know he was late home the other night,” she told her.

Liz raised an eyebrow at Tess. How did she know that Max was late home, and why did she think Liz would care?

“I know he probably fed you some lie about the traffic or something,” she continued. “The truth is Liz I like you and that’s why I can’t stand that Max is lying to you.”

“I’m not sure I know what you’re talking about Tess. What Mr. Evans does in his personal life is neither of our business” Liz told her.

Tess giggled a little “Oh come on Liz you and I both know that you’re fucking him” she said bluntly. “I mean why else would you have gotten a job, car and a big office, you’re good but you’re not that good”

Liz was fuming inside at Tess’s accusations but she was determined not to give her the satisfaction of giving in.

“Apparently I am” Liz smiled. “Because I do have the second biggest office, salary and a car”

Tess studies Liz trying to find a weakness. She knew that Liz and Max were involved, and that she was the reason he didn’t want to sleep with her anymore. But to her surprise Liz wasn’t letting anything show.

“But I wouldn’t expect you to understand that” Liz added happy when her little snide remark hit Tess directly.

“What’s that supposed to mean?” she asked.

“Oh just that your only a secretary, you don’t understand what we actually do” she smirked.

“I’m a para-legal actually,” Tess told her.

“Oh I’m sorry” Liz lied.

“Anyway back to the reason I’m here,” Tess said. “I just don’t want to see you used and abused by Max Evans,” she told her.

Liz sighed “Tess, like I said…”

“I’m sleeping with him, did you know that?” she smirked.

Liz didn’t flinch.

“Good for you” she smiled. “Is he good?” she asked. “I’ve heard he’s good”

Tess frowned. That wasn’t the reaction she was expecting.

Liz stood up then “Like I said Tess, I don’t really want to discuss what Max does in his personal life with you”

“Don’t you care that your boyfriend is fucking me behind his back?” Tess cried outraged “that he fucked me good and proper in his office on Friday night when he was supposed to be on his way to a date with you”

Inside Liz was a mess. Why was Tess Harding doing this? She knew that there was no way Max was cheating on her because he had no need. They were in love and he certainly got everything he needed from her, he told her that all the time.

Taking a deep breath Liz looked up at Tess again, before placing her computer bag on her shoulder and grabbing her briefcase. “Like I said Tess, what ever floats your boat”?

With her head held high and a strut that indicated more confidence then she was feeling Liz walked towards the elevator, and she even smiled when she heard Tess Harding scream in frustration.

Liz held it together until she reached her car but when the door was safely closed she let a sob go. She sat there trying to get herself under control, not wanting to drive in that state until her cell phone rang.

With shaky hands she answered it, seeing that it was Max.

“Liz?” he asked when she answered but didn’t speak. “Where are you?” he asked.

“The Office” she croaked out.

“Oh I thought you would have left by now” he said surprised.

“Where are you?” she asked then.

“Almost home” he said. “I was going to suggest picking something up for dinner but maybe we’ll just go out, what do you think?”

“Yeah sure that sounds fine”

“What take out or going out?” he chuckled.

“Either” she choked.

“Ok we’ll go out. Are you leaving now?”

“Yeah” she said.

“Ok well I’ll see you soon. Love you”

Liz closed her eyes and then smiled. “I know, I love you too,” she told him.

That was all she needed to hear. Liz knew that Tess Harding was a liar but she never knew that she was as cunning and manipulative as she had witnessed today. Max Evans loved her and he would never ruin what they had with someone like Tess, no if Max was going to cheat on her he would choose someone a lot better than her.

Liz drove home then as quickly as possible, wanting to be back in Max’s arms where she felt safe and secure. Yes she planned on telling him everything, there was never a question of that, and she also knew that Tess Harding wouldn’t be employed at Evans after Thanksgiving, and for that she was thankful.

Max was in the shower when Liz got home so she quickly took her clothes of and joined him.

“Hey” he smiled when she stepped in.

Liz immediately broke down and Max pulled her easily against his chest. “Hey what’s wrong?” he asked.

Liz wondered if it was hormonal, she didn’t know why she was crying either. “I’m happy,” she told him then. “I’m so happy that I have you”

“Me too” he smiled down at her. “But why are you crying?” he asked.

“I’ll tell you about it later” she promised with a smile.

Liz waited as long as possible before running Max’s good mood.

“She what?” he all but roared, he probably would have if they weren’t in a restaurant at the time.

“She claims that you were fucking her hard in your office” Liz mimicked the faked the gerbil voice which caused Max to smile.

“What did you say?” he asked then.

“Well” Liz said pushing a piece of hair behind her ear “I told her I didn’t really care what you did with you time and that I wouldn’t discuss it with her. Of course that got her angry” she told him.

“It’s not true, you do know that don’t you” Max said then reaching across the table and taking her hand.

Liz chuckled a little “Of course I do but it still hurt to hear her say it” she admitted.

“I’m sorry baby. I’ll sack her”

“I expect you too” she grinned.

“I love you” he smiled wondering how he was so lucky to have someone as wonderful as her.

“I love you too,” she agreed.

Part 45

Max felt the change the minute he stepped off the plane. It wasn’t as cold as it was in New York but it was still cold. He looked around the airport, it was small but there were a lot of people around.

He felt Liz’s small hand squeeze his and he looked down into her smiling eyes.

“Lets get our bags then we can get a car,” she suggested. The Parkers had offered to pick them up but Liz had told them not to worry about it that they would hire a car.

“So I’ve got to be honest and tell you that I have no idea how my parents are going to react when they meet you,” Liz said when they got settled into the car.

“What do you mean?” he asked.

“Well they’re kind of waiting for the other shoe to drop,” she said. “They’re expecting me to ring up and tell them it was all a joke and that I’m really still attracted to females” she grinned.

“Ah” Max smiled back. “I’ll do my best to assure them that hell will freeze over before I let you go”

Liz thought she could melt in a puddle almost immediately “God I love you” she told him. It had only be a bit over a week since the lunch with his parents but true to his words Max had spoken to them and everything was good again. Max and Liz had attended dinner over there a few nights earlier and things had gone much better.

“I love you too” he replied raising her hand to his lips and kissing it before placing it back under his on the gear stick.

The weather got worse as they approached Roswell so it wasn’t a surprise when they arrived at the Crashdown and it was almost empty.

“Lizzie” her mother squealed when she caught sight of her. Jeff Parker was only a few steps behind his wife and they both quickly engulfed her in a hug.

“Welcome home princess” Jeff smiled.

“Mum, Dad I want you to meet someone” she said then stepping away and reaching for Max’s hand.

Max took it and stepped forward. “This is Max, Max this is my parents Jeff and Nancy” she introduced.

Jeff Parker didn’t hesitate holding out his hand and shaking Max’s “Its good to finally meet you Max, Liz has told us a lot about you” he said.

“Thank you sir, its nice to meet you both as well” he smiled.

“Enough of the sir stuff Max, its Jeff and Nancy ok,” he told him.

“Thanks” Max smiled. He already felt at home. He looked around the café then and smiled at the décor but the surprising thing is he could really imagine growing up here, a young teenager sitting in the booth watching a hot sixteen-year-old Liz Parker waitress.

“Max?” Liz questioned.

“Oh I’m sorry what did you say?” he asked blushing as he realized that he hadn’t been listening.

“I just asked were you coming, we’re going to put our stuff upstairs and then come and have something to eat” she smirked.

“Sure” he grinned.

They made their way through the backroom and towards the stairs and Max waited until he sure Liz’s parents were out of ear shot before leaning forward. “Do you still have your waitress uniform?”

Liz giggled, “I’m sure I could drag one out from somewhere”

“Good” he grinned.

***

“So Max, Liz speaks very highly of you,” Jeff Parker told him.

They were sitting down at the counter of Crashdown eating ice cream while the women worked in the kitchen preparing the feast they would eat for Thanksgiving.

“She does?” he asked.

“Yeah, Says you run the firm that she works at”

“Oh yeah, it was my fathers firm, he built it from the ground up. I’m very proud and lucky to be in charge” he smiled.

Jeff studied him then and smiled “we were surprised when she told us about you” he said then.

Max laughed, “I’m not surprised,” he said. “But for the record I love Liz, Jeff”

“I know,” he said knowingly. You could see it every time he looked at his daughter.

“She loves you too so I guess I’m wondering what’s next?” he said. “I mean you live together, work together….”

Max chuckled “subtle Jeff, subtle”

“I don’t think we need to beat around the bush,” he told him.

“We don’t, as for what’s next I hope it will be marriage and a family” Max admitted.

Jeff slapped his back as he stood up “that’s what I like to hear Max, just take care of her and everything will be fine with us”

“I will Jeff” Max smiled

***

They had a wonderful thanksgiving in Roswell. The Parkers had accepted Max with open arms and Max was very absolutely stoked.

Liz rolled over when she felt the familiar pains and tears immediately sprang to her eyes. She got out of bed and tiptoed to the bathroom trying not to wake Max and when she got there her fears were revealed.

The tears started straight away and it wasn’t long before she broke out into sobs. It was stupid to have thought she was pregnant, but when she had been a week late for the first time in her life, she had immediately thought, and hoped she was.

When Max woke up the first thing he realized was the Liz wasn’t next to him, he sat up and looked around the dark room “Liz?” he whispered.

He noticed the light on under the bathroom door, and still half asleep walked over, that was then he heard her sobs.

“Liz?” he called out, and when she didn’t answer he quietly opened the door.

Liz tried to wipe away the tears when she heard Max enter the bathroom but it was useless. There were too many and they weren’t planning on stopping anytime soon.

The sight of Liz sitting on the toilet sobbing was too much for Max. He immediately went to her and kneeled in front of her.

“Baby what’s wrong?” he asked.

“I-got-my-period” she sobbed back.

Max felt awkward. Did she normally cry like this? Was it something hormonal?

“Oh, ok” he replied.

“I was a week late and I thought….”

Max was completely baffled “You thought you were pregnant?” he asked.

Liz nodded.

“Oh baby” he said. It occurred to him then to wonder why Liz was crying?

“Liz…. Did you want there to be a baby?” he asked shocked.

“I...” Liz fumbled “Yes” she finally replied before sobs over took her again.

“Oh baby” he whispered, he sat back in shock then, letting Liz’s confession wash over him and then his face broke out in a huge grin. Liz Parker wanted to have his baby.

After helping her fix herself up Max carried Liz back to bed and got in next to her, wrapping her safely in his arms.

“I love you” he whispered, “So much and I’m sorry that you’re hurting right now”

“I love you too,” Liz whispered back. “I’m just being silly, I’m sorry,” she told him.

Max lovingly caressed her face “Its not silly” he told her.

“Really?” she asked in a small voice. She had been positive that Max would be horrified with her for wanting to be pregnant.

“Yeah” he whispered.

They lay in silence for a few minutes before Liz finally spoke again. “Max?”

“Yeah sweetie” he replied.

“I really want to have your baby,” she cried.

Max didn’t waste a second rolling her over so that he could see her face, he wiped the tears away from her eyes and looked at her lovingly. “I really want you to have my babies too” he grinned.

“You do?” Liz smiled shyly.

“Yeah” he nodded. “But lets not put so much pressure on ourselves. I’m sure there are going to be plenty of false starts and I don’t want to ever see you that upset again,” he told her.

“I know and we only just moved in together. Its not like I want to be pregnant tomorrow its just that when I thought I was…” she trailed off.

“You were happy” he finished for her.

“Ecstatic” she sighed.

“We have plenty of time baby,” he told her then. “All the time in the world”

“We do don’t we” she replied. “We really have forever”

Max chuckled “forever sounds good to me”

***

“You’re making a lot of progress,” Dr Sierra told Maria.

“Thank you” she said. “I feel better”

“That’s good” she smiled. “So tell me how is Michael?” she asked.

Maria blushed. “He’s good” she replied.

“Have you been seeing much of him?” she asked. When Maria had first come to sessions she had told Dr Sierra all about what was happening in her life. It wasn’t just the demons of the past she was trying to deal with it was the alive one’s like Liz and Michael too.

“We spent Thanksgiving together,” she admitted.

“And you’re still friends?” she asked.

“Yeah still just friends” Maria replied.

“You sound unhappy about that?” she noticed.

“What? No that’s what I want,” she said but it didn’t even sound true to her own ears.

“Maria its ok to want to be happy,” she told her. “Do you really want to sit back and watch your friends all move on without you?” she asked.

It was a low blow but she knew all about Alex and Liz, and how at times she felt like she was being left behind.

“No” she said. “And I don’t want to loose Michael” she admitted “it scares me everyday he’ll get sick of waiting for me or realize that he doesn’t want a psychotic bimbo”

“He obviously sees something in you worth fighting for, worth waiting this long for” she pointed out.

Maria smiled “Yeah I guess you’re right” she agreed.

A/N: Hi everyone thank you so much for your feedback, I'm glad that you guys liked the last part. Thanks again for the nominations everyone i really am honoured!

Part 46

“Michael, would you like to go out with me sometime” Maria rehearsed.

“No that’s hopeless,” she cried.

“Hey Michael, did you want to grab something to eat on Saturday night?” she tried again.

“Oh that’s even worse,” she cursed herself. “What’s your problem Maria, you really like this guy so why is it so hard to work up the nerve to tell him?” she asked.

Since her last session the Dr Sierra, Maria had been trying to work up the nerve to ask Michael out, but so far no cigar. In the back of her mind she knew that she was scared that he would reject her, as stupid as that was.

Looking at the clock she realized she needed to leave. Maria was meeting up with Liz and Isabel to do some Christmas shopping whilst the boys did something manly like watching a football game on television.

***

“What do you think? Do you think Max will like it?” Liz asked as she held up an expensive black sweater she was contemplating buying for Max.

“Its nice” Maria shrugged.

“Great” Liz frowned. “What the hell am I supposed to buy someone that has everything?” she whined.

Isabel laughed, “He doesn’t have everything,” she pointed out. “Why don’t you buy him a new watch, or chain?”

Liz’s eyes lit up, “oh that’s a great idea” she told them.

“What about you Maria what are you going to buy Michael?” Isabel asked.

Maria looked up alarmed “Am I supposed to buy him something?”

“Of course not if you don’t want to” Liz assured her knowing that Michael was still a sensitive subject.

“No I should, I want to” she quickly told them.

“Well do you know what you could get?” Liz asked.

“Yeah I have the perfect idea and even better I can get it at the music shop” she smiled already thinking about the special edition Metallica CD collection she could get him.

“Great. Well I already have all my gifts so who else do the two of you need to buy for?” Isabel asked. They had already been shopping for a few hours, which had been successful.

“I’m done’ Maria said.

“Just Max” Liz smiled.

“Well lets hit the jewelry stores then” Isabel told them and began leading them in that direction.

***

“Why are we here?” Michael whined as the guys pulled up in Max’s car at the mall.

“I told you I need help picking something out for, Isabel” Alex replied.

“Why haven’t you done this already?” he asked.

“Have you bought Maria’s present?” Alex asked pointedly.

Michael went pale “I’m supposed to buy her something?” he asked.

Both Michael and Alex turned to him with incredulous looks on their face. “Of course” Max told him. “Don’t you know what women are like if you forget to buy them something?”

“Well she’s not my girlfriend” he shrugged.

“Yeah but you want her to be” Alex grinned as they got out of the car.

“True” he agreed. “Ok then experts, what do I buy someone that isn’t my girlfriend but I want to be?” he asked.

Max and Alex exchanged looks before turning and shrugging at Michael’s question.

“Great” he huffed and followed Alex in the jewelry store.

“So what type of present are we looking for?” Max asked Alex. He’d been smart and bought Liz’s presents weeks ago.

“Yeah are we talking earrings, necklace or rings?” Michael asked as he looked at some of the things on display.

Alex ran his hand through his hair nervously “Um rings” he told them.

“Ok, so what like a birthstone or something?” Max asked not taking his eyes of the gorgeous diamond ring he had found. He smiled when he thought of how great it would look on Liz’s finger.

“No I was thinking diamond,” he told him.

Max and Michael both looked up suddenly.

“What? You think it’s too soon?” he asked them self-consciously.

“No I guess not,” Michael told him. “I’m just wondering if your bank account is big enough for an Isabel style diamond” Michael joked.

Alex pushed his chest out before answering, “I think I’ve got it covered”

“Alex, you sure about this?” Max asked. He liked Alex and he knew that Isabel loved him but they hadn’t been dating for very long.

“Yeah I am,” he admitted. “Think she’ll say yes?” he asked.

“I’m sure she will” Max smiled at him.

“It just seems right,” he told them.

“Did you ask my dad?” Max asked then. He didn’t think Isabel would care about that sort of thing, or his dad for that matter but Max was wondering what the edict was with this sort of thing for when he was ready to ask Liz.

“No” Alex swallowed “should I have?”

“Nah it will be fine. Isabel probably would have been offended that he knew before she did,” he laughed trying to make Alex feel better.

“Good” he sighed. “Ok so help me out here guys because I need the perfect ring” he told them.

***

Isabel and Liz were looking at some watches in a shop window when Maria spotted the smaller jeweler and went over to have a look.

She was looking in the window when she thought she saw someone familiar.

Opening the door she peered inside and sure enough all three of them were there “Michael!” she called out.

Michael turned when he heard someone call out to him and when he saw Maria his face paled. He remembered Max saying that the girls were all going shopping that day.

“What are you doing here?” he asked. “Where are the other girls?”

Maria frowned “I’m shopping, what are you doing here?”

“We’re shopping too and you sooo can’t be here,” he told her rushing over to push her out of the door before Alex spotted her.

“Why not?” she asked peering over his shoulder to see what Max and Alex were looking at and when she spotted it she gasped.

“Oh my god” she cried. “Is he going to…?” she asked.

Michael sighed. “Yes alright which is why you can’t be here and especially why Isabel can’t”

“Isabel?” she asked confused.

“Yes Isabel” he pointed out but then he realized that Maria had thought it was Max that was looking at rings.

Maria’s face broke out in a brilliant grin then “Oh this is so exciting, wait till I tell Liz” she said.

“No!” Michael cried. “You can’t tell anyone about this Maria it’s a surprise and it wont be if everyone knows before Isabel does”

“Ok” she said not sure why Michael was so worried about this “I can keep a secret” she told him.

“Good” Michael smiled finally looking down at her and seeing her flushed features.

“How’s the shopping anyway?” he asked peering at her bags.

“Good, almost done” she told him. “But Liz is still shopping for Max’s present and I think this will be the next stop” she told him.

“Well you’re going to have to stall them,” Michael said.

“How?” Maria cried. Did he really think that she was capable of stopping Isabel and Liz if they really wanted to do something?

“I don’t know but I’m sure you can’t think of something. In the meantime I’ll hurry Alex and Max along” he told her.

“Ok” she sighed.

“Great well I’ll see you later” he told her.

“Yeah” she smiled and that as an afterthought “did you maybe want to have diner tonight?” she asked.

Michael was shocked, in the few months they had known each other Maria had never initiated any of the contact between them, and he wondered what was different now.

“Um yeah sure that sounds great” he smiled.

“So you’ll pick me up around eight?” she suggested.

“Sure” he nodded.

“Great it’s a date” she smiled and when she saw Michaels eyes widen she quickly turned and rushed back towards where Liz and Isabel were.

Michael was still grinning when he went back inside the store.

“What are you so happy about?” Max asked.

“I’ve got a date tonight” he said proudly.

“Cool” Max smiled.

***

“Maria where did you go?” Liz asked when she rushed back over.

“Oh my god I need your help” Maria was panicking now. How could she go out on a date with Michael, she’d never dated a guy before and what would she wear?

“Calm down Maria, what’s wrong?” Liz asked.

Maria smiled then. “I just asked Michael out on a date” she told them.

“Michael’s here?” Isabel asked looking around and wondering if Alex was with him.

“Focus Isabel” Liz grinned. “Oh Maria that’s wonderful” she told her.

Maria’s turned panicky again then. “What the hell am I going to wear?” she asked.

Liz and Isabel both chuckled at her then. “Come on sweetie, we promise that we’ve got you covered” they told her as they started leading her back towards the area of the mall where all the clothing stores were.

Mission accomplished.

Part 47

“This place is really nice” Maria commented told Michael as she looked around the expensive restaurant that he had brought her too.

TJ’s was a seafood restaurant and Max had recommended it to Michael. It was hard to get a reservation but Max had called in a favor so here they were.

“Yeah it is” he smiled. He still could hardly believe that he was finally on a date with Maria Deluca. He wasn’t sure what had changed her mind but he wasn’t going to complain and hopefully he wouldn’t do anything to screw it up either.

“So did you guys get the ring?” Maria asked curiously.

“Yeah Alex finally found one that he likes, it cost an arm and a leg but Max said she’ll love it”

“She has no idea,” Maria said. “I heard Liz ask her if she knows what she’s getting and she said something about a new perfume she wanted” she laughed.

“I think he got that too” Michael smiled.

“So what about you girls did you get all your Christmas shopping done?” Michael asked.

“Yeah thank god. I don’t want to go anywhere near that mall again, especially if its with Liz and Isabel”

“Yeah I remember a few trips to the mall with Isabel when we were in high school” Michael smiled knowingly. “Man Max tells some killer stories about it too” he chuckled.

“I love shopping but I’ve got nothing on them”

They placed their order then and enjoyed small talk while they ate.

“That was the best fish I’ve ever had” Maria smiled when she pushed aside her plate.

“Yeah I’ve got to give it to Max, this is the best seafood platter I’ve ever had”

“So Max told you about this place?” Maria smiled.

“Yeah” Michael nodded “I don’t date that often so I don’t come to places like this”

“How come?” Maria asked.

Michael thought about her question wanting to giver her an open and honest response. “Just never found the right girl I guess,” he told her. “I dated through college but since then once in a blue moon”

Maria was shocked by his confession and she wondered what was so special about her that would be worthy of his attention.

“What makes me so special?” she decided to ask.

Michael smiled at her “Everything about you” he said. “You have this enthusiasm for life and even though life’s hit you hard you still get up everyday and your smile it just blows me away”

Maria was blushing by the time he was done. “Wow”

“I really like you Maria” Michael told her. “I’ll go as slow as you want but I really want to see you again”

“I’d like that” Maria smiled.

***

Liz stirred and slowly opened her eyes.

“Morning beautiful” Max whispered.

Liz shot up in bed and grinned, “It’s Christmas,” she cried, her eyes lighting up with excitement.

Max chuckled at his girlfriend. “It certainly is and if you’re a good girl you’ll get some presents today”

Liz leant forward and wrapped her arms around her sexy boyfriends neck forcing his mouth down to hers for a kiss. “I’m always a very good girl” she breathed when they pulled apart.

“How about we work on being naughty first?” he suggested huskily.

Liz giggled as he pressed her down into the bed and his hands went to work on her body.

“Naughty is good too” she moaned.

***

Alex was confused when he woke up and found the other side of the bed empty. Where is Isabel? He wondered. He looked at the clock and noticed it was still relatively early. He had planned to get up early and cook her breakfast in bed before presenting her with her Christmas present but that plan was out the window since she had managed to wake up before him.

Alex threw on a pair of boxer shorts and headed down the stairs. He could hear Isabel singing Christmas carols in the kitchen and he smiled.

“Your up early” he surprised her.

Isabel jumped around when she heard his voice, her hand on her chest. “You scared me” she smiled at him.

Alex walked towards her and pulled her into his arms “I’m sorry” he apologized. “I woke up and you weren’t in bed so I came looking for you”

“I was making breakfast. I was too excited to sleep,” she informed him.

Alex chuckled “What is it about you women and Christmas?” he asked. “Liz is exactly the same,” he advised her.

“I know” she grinned. “Last year we were up so early that by the time I left for lunch at my parents place I was falling asleep”

“Well now that we’re both up why don’t we have some breakfast and open some presents?” he suggested.

“I like that plan Mr. Whitman” she grinned.

***

Maria rolled over in bed with a smile on her face. For the first time in a long time she was having a peaceful sleep and very good dreams.

“Michael” she whispered.

***

“We’re never” kiss “going to make it” kiss “to your parents” kiss, kiss “if you don’t’ stop kissing me” Liz moaned.

Max and Liz were now in the shower and Max was once again wreaking havoc on Liz’s body as he fondled her breasts while sucking on a sensitive part of her neck.

“Hmm and that would be so terrible” Max replied.

Liz laughed and shoved him away from her. “Its Christmas Max Evans and I haven’t got one gift yet,” she reminded him.

Max raised an eyebrow at her “I thought I have you a pretty impressive gift earlier” he told her reminding her of the triple orgasm he had brought her too.

Liz blushed red “That was pretty good” she smiled.

“Just pretty good?” he asked as he slowly reeled her back against his body. “I thought it was better than good”

“It was” Liz moaned as Max bit down on a sensitive nipple. “It was amazing”

Max grinned “thanks”. He turned away then, picked up the soap and began washing hid body.

Liz’s mouth opened in shock “your going to pay for that Max” she told him.

***

After eating the scrumptious breakfast that Isabel prepared they headed into the living room where the Christmas tree and gifts were.

“Can I go first?” Isabel asked.

“Sure” Alex replied. Opening her gift first would give him some time to organize his thoughts. He knew what he wanted to say he just wanted to make sure he said it right.

Isabel handed him a brightly wrapped box then and he tore it open like a kid. When the paper was all gone and the new ipod was revealed he grinned.

“This is awesome,” he told her.

“You like it?” he asked. She had been unsure but after Alex had mentioned being bored on the subway commuting to work she had thought it would be a nice present.

“Are you kidding I love it” he grinned. Alex loved any type of gadget and he had his eye on an ipod for a while. This wasn’t just any type either it was the top line color one with over 40GB of hardware space.

“Good” she smiled.

Alex placed the present aside then and leant over and kissed his girlfriend, he hoped that soon he would be calling her something very different.

“My turn now?” he asked.

Isabel nodded excitedly.

Alex pushed his body onto the floor, one knee on the ground and reached for the box. It was big.

Isabel squealed with delight and wrapped at the paper. Alex had to bite back a chuckle when her face fell at the sight of a blender box.

“A blender” she fakes smiled. “Wow thanks Alex”

“Open it up and have a look,” he suggested.

“Ok” she agreed pulling open the top and finding it full of shredded paper.

“Alex….” She was about to inform him that he had been ripped off because there was nothing inside when her hand came into contact with a small box.

Her hand was shaking as he pulled it out.

“You didn’t think I’d get the women I love a blender did you?” Alex asked.

He had risen up on one knee now but Isabel hadn’t noticed she was too busy staring at the box.

“Are you going to open it?” he asked.

Isabel looked at him then “Sure” she smiled. Isabel was nervous and she didn’t know why. It was probably just a pair of earrings or a friendship ring but she found herself hoping it was something else altogether.

Isabel popped the lid on the box slowly and when she saw the ring she gasped.

“Isabel Evans I love with you all my heart. I know we haven’t been together that long but its long enough for me to know that I will never be happy without you by my side.” Alex looked into her eyes and said. “So with that said, will you be by my side forever? Will you marry me?” he asked.

Tears sprung to Isabel’s eyes immediately. “Yes I will marry you Alexander Whitman,” she whispered.

Alex broke out in a grin then and took the box out of Isabel’s hand, removed the ring and then slid it on her finger. Not surprisingly it was a perfect fit.

“Its gorgeous” she cried.

“I’m glad you like it” he smiled.

“Thank you” she whispered leaning in and kissing him.

“No thank you” he smiled back.

Part 48

“You look gorgeous” Max whispered as he helped Liz put on the diamond necklace he had bought her for Christmas. It was the first of many diamonds to come, but it looked beautiful.

It was New Years Eve and the group of friends was all getting together to bring in the New Year, and for the first time they would all be together as couples.

Michael and Maria had been on several dates now and their relationship was progressing nicely. Maria had confided in Liz that Michael was the most amazing person she had ever met, and that she was the happiest she had ever remembered being. It was obvious that it was true.

Isabel and Alex were both still glowing from their recent engagement. The Whitman’s had welcome Isabel into their family with open arms and Isabel was so excited about becoming Mrs. Alex Whitman that she had already set a wedding date. February 14th.

“Are you feeling better?” Max asked Liz.

“Yeah” she smiled. For the past week she had been tired and queasy. Liz knew that Max was just concerned about her but she knew it was just a virus that would pass. Work has been particularly busy since Thanksgiving and she thought she probably just needed a break.

“Good” he smiled they were going to have a wonderful night and he didn’t want anything to ruin it for Liz.

***

“This is beautiful Max” Maria commented as she looked over the boat.

Max’s friend had let him use the boat again that he had taken Liz on the night he confessed his love for her. Him and his wife were going to be overseas for the holidays so the boat wouldn’t be used.

“Yeah this is awesome” Alex added.

They were cruising slowly around the harbor, which was lit up for the New Years festivities. There would be fireworks later and they would have a wonderful view of them.

“It was too good to refuse” he smiled back. He noticed that Liz wasn’t drinking then and he frowned a little.

“Do you want a drink?” he asked.

“No I’m fine” she smiled back. “Just not in the mood for it at the moment, maybe after dinner” she replied.

Max nodded and helped her into her seat so that dinner could be served. They were eating on the deck despite the extremely cold weather; a gas burner was doing its best to keep them warm.

They sat and laughed for hours, drinking and telling funny stores about each other. They all had stories about each other when they were younger and it was fun to listen to them.

“So who has a New Years resolution?” Liz asked then. It was nearing midnight and she thought it was good time to say something. “We should all have a toast and tell each other what we wish for the New Year,” she suggested.

“That sounds good and I’ll go first” Isabel replied.

“I want to toast to friendship” she smiled at everyone “2005 has been a wonderful year for it.”

“To friendship” everyone agreed.

“I wish for a happy 2006 and a sunny day when I marry Alex” she added.

“I’ll go next” Alex cleared his throat. “I want to toast to love” he smiled; he turned to look Isabel in the eye then.

“I hope that the life I’ve made in New York will continue to be as wonderful in 2006 as it is today”

“I guess it’s my turn” Maria smiled then. “I want to toast to new beginnings,” she told them all.

“And I just wish for 2006 to be a year of healing”

Michael reached out and covered Maria’s hand with his own.

“I want to toast to family,” he told them. “A lot of people have different ideas about what a family really is and to me its you guys”

“Oh Michael” Liz gasped

“We feel the same” Isabel smiled through her tears.

“Here’s to a happy and safe 2006” he added before gulping down the rest of his drink.

Everyone looked to Liz then “Wow you guys have almost covered everything” she said. “My toast is to soul mates” she smiled. “I found mine” she smiled then.

“I wish for happiness, and personal wealth and love for all of us for the future” Liz whispered but her thoughts were on the personal wealth she really wished for.

Max smiled down at his beautiful girlfriend his heart swelling with love.

“Its your turn Max” Isabel told him.

“Well I’m going to toast 2005” he grinned at them all. “It’s been a tough year for some,” he said casting a look at Maria who was wrapped in Michaels arms “but for others its been the best year of our life” he smiled looking at everyone else.

“Here, Here” they all agreed.

Max grinned “And my wish is that in 2006 the beautiful women sitting next to me will agree to spend the rest of her life with me”

Everyone at the table gasped and Liz turned to Max confusion dancing in her eyes. Was he asking her what she thought he was?

Max stood up and removed something from his pocket then. “Its not what you think,” he whispered “not yet” he smiled. “But I want to give you this as a promise” he whispered showing her the beautiful pink diamond ring that looked exactly like the necklace he had given her for Christmas. “When we’re both ready I’m going to put a bigger one on your left hand” he grinned.

“Oh Max” she whispered through her tears. Liz didn’t care that it wasn’t a proposal she knew that they weren’t quite ready for that yet and the pace they were going was just fine for her.

Max slid the ring on her finger and pulled Liz to him for a sweet kiss.

“Oh you guys are so cute” Maria cried breaking the moment.

Liz and Max chuckled at her.

“Come on enough of this mushy stuff lets party the New Year in” Michael sung.

They were all standing on the deck when the fireworks started and even in the middle of the harbor they could hear the noise of people everywhere bringing in the New Year.

“Turn the music on” Maria yelled.

Max flicked the CD player on and all the guys grinned when they recognized the song and immediately started to sing.

Some girls will, some girls won't
Some girls need a lot of lovin' and some girls don't
Well, I know I've got the fever but I don't know why
Some say they will and some girls lie

So here I am in front of you
Not really knowing what to do
My heart is feeling something new
Nervously I turn away from you
I see the looks you're sending me
Is this the way it's meant to be?
It's something we should talk about
Just give me time to work it out

Some girls will, some girls won't
Some girls need a lot of lovin' and some girls don't
Well, I know I've got the fever but I don't know why
Some say they will and some girls lie

I find your company to be
Something completely new to me
Now that I know you socially
Obviously I'll fall heavily
I've seen those looks you're sending me
This is the way it's meant to be
There's nothing left to talk about
Oh, how I wish you'd work it out

Some girls will, some girls won't
Some girls need a lot of lovin' and some girls don't
Well, I know I've got the fever but I don't know why
Some say they will and some girls lie

Liz smiled as she flicked through the photos that she had just printed from New Years Eve. They were all beautiful, and you could see how happy they all were. She put them away in her bag and continued to walk through the mall when she walked past a chemist.

All of a sudden her feet stopped and she bit down on her bottom lip contemplating whether she should go in. The virus she had the week before hadn’t disappeared the way she thought it would, it was hanging around and her period was now a few days late. She knew she shouldn’t get her hopes up or she would end up disappointed like she was last time. Liz and Max hadn’t even been trying to fall pregnant but unconsciously after their talk at Thanksgiving Liz had gone off the pill.

Deciding that it couldn’t hurt she entered the chemist and picked one of the mid priced tests off the shelf before making her way to the counter to pay for it.

It stayed in her bag until she was back in the office and when she remembered it she picked it up and read the box.

Liz held off as long she could from taking it. All of a sudden she was a little excited so she shoved it into her jacket pocket and made her way to the women’s toilet.

The office was fairly empty since it was late in the afternoon, and there were only a few other women that worked on the same floor so Liz had the bathroom to herself. She peed on the stick and then waited the three minutes before picking up the stick.

There was a pink plus.

Liz looked for the box and turned it over to read what it said. A pink plus meant positive. She heard footsteps approaching so she scurried to pack the test up before she got caught.

“Oh hi Liz” Margaret smiled at her.

“Hi Margaret how are you?” she asked.

“Good thanks” she replied. “I meant to tell you earlier how beautiful your ring is” she smiled.

Liz blushed “Oh thank you I love it” she grinned. “Well I’ll see you later Margaret” Liz said as she made her way towards the door. She wanted to rush straight to Max’s office and tell him the news but she knew he wasn’t there. He had to go to court that morning and he had been there all day.

Liz rushed back to her office and packed up her stuff before telling her assistant Susie that she was leaving for the day. She couldn’t wait to get home and tell Max. She knew that she would still have to go to the Doctors and have it confirmed but it seemed almost certain that in nine months her and Max were going to be parents.

Liz was just getting in her car when her cell went off.

“Hey” she grinned when she saw it was Max.

“Hey baby” he replied. “I’m just heading home, where are you?” he asked.

“Just leaving so I’ll see you in a half an hour” she told him.

“Ok love you”

“I love you too, Max”

The drive felt endless, the traffic wasn’t too bad but Liz was just in such a hurry to get home to Max. His car was already in the garage when she pulled in and grabbing her bag she rushed into the house.

Liz was moving so quickly that Max almost sent her flying.

“Hey” he laughed, “you miss me that much?” he asked.

“Yes” she replied throwing her arms around his neck.

“How was your day?” he smiled.

Liz’s grinned grew bigger and instead of answering him she searched through her bag.

“Maybe you should sit down,” she told him.

“What? Why?” he asked.

“Because I have something big to tell you” she told him. Her hand wrapped around the pregnancy test to hide it while she placed her bag aside.

“Ok” Max frowned sitting down on a nearby stool all the while wondering what was going on.

“I know that this is unexpected but…” she started.

“Liz, the suspense is killing me,” he cried.

Opening her hand Liz held out the pregnancy test and offered it to Max.

Max gulped when he saw it.

“You know how I haven’t been feeling well?” she told him. “Well it wasn’t a virus”

Max finally took the stick and looked at it. “So we’re….?” He looked up at her then.

Liz grinned, “I’m not a hundred percent sure but I think so” she told him.

Max dropped the test to the ground and stood up. In two steps he had Liz wrapped in his arms and was sweeping her off her feet.

“We’re going to have a baby, Max” she squealed and Max spun her around.

“God I love you,” he told her when he stopped spinning her around.

“I love you too” she replied kissing him soundly.

They walked hand in hand to the lounge then. “Are we ready for this?” Max smiled.

Max had come a long way since the night he took Liz out as a favor to his sister. Liz Parker had changed his life.

“Yeah I think we are” she smiled back. Liz had no doubts that her and Max were going to do great things together.

Max placed his hand on her stomach then. “You make me so happy” he never thought he would ever want children, it just didn’t seem to be on the cards for him but since the Thanksgiving it had been all he could think of and now they were pregnant and Liz was going to have his baby.

“You make me happy too” Liz replied.

And in the end that was all that mattered.

The End
