.........Chapter 40 cont'd..........

~*~1 year later~*~

“You ready for this?”

“I’ve done this before remember?” I say fixing my bowtie. I hate these things.

“I know but the last one was bullshit. This is the real thing, the fantasy.”

“I know.” I can’t help but smile as I think about how beautiful she must look.

“Ok, so I’ll spare you the whole thing about marriage and it being a serious thing.” Michael laughs.

“You sparing me a lecture? Wow, I’m honored.”

“Hey, I’m the smart ass in this relationship.” He laughs.

“Yes how could I forget?” I finish fixing my bowtie and examine myself in the mirror once again.

“You know it wasn’t too long ago that I would have bet my entire savings on you being a bachelor for life. I’m happy for you.”

“I’m happy too, really happy.” I run my hands through my hair and check myself out in the mirror one last time.

“Just remember she will always be right. Even if you have concrete proof that she’s wrong forget about it, she’s right, that’s all you need to remember. That is the key to happiness. Well that and not questioning anything that has to do with shoes, credit card limits and the need to pay insane amounts of money to get your hair trimmed. Oh, and the most important thing of all. She never, ever, ever looks fat in anything. Don‘t hesitate for one second to say she doesn‘t look fat. Trust me, a split second hesitation and you got yourself a ticket to the couch with an open return date at her discretion.” I laugh because I can totally picture he and Maria fighting about those things.

“Thanks.” I reach into my pocket and pull out the rings that we gave each other when we got married in Vegas. I hadn’t taken mine off until last night but Liz has had hers off for a while. I don’t plan on using them today, I wanted to get a new set to symbolize our new start but I will always keep them.

The past year has been an intense roller coaster. When we got back from Vegas Liz and I prepared for Tess’ funeral. As much as she and Liz had their differences her death hit Liz hard. I expected Liz to close up on me but surprisingly she didn’t. She told me what her and Erika talked about and that she knew that she needed to make some changes. We’ve both changed but we did it together.

The trial of Eli Curtis came and went and Liz didn’t have to testify. He was convicted of murder among all this other crimes. His face was in the papers for a little while and I tried my best to keep it away from Liz.

Kris has become an almost permanent fixture in our lives. Liz doesn’t realize how lucky she is to have her but I do. If Michael wasn’t married and hopelessly in love with Maria I would get those two together right away. I sometimes feel that she may feel left out when it’s the three of us together but she doesn’t seem to mind. She dated someone for a few months but that ended with me having to beat the crap out of the guy when he suddenly thought it was ok for him to hit a woman and in my house no less. Liz has made it her personal mission to find Kris someone and I hope she succeeds.

“Max, it’s time.” My father pops his head in and Michael exits.

“I’m really proud of you son.” He says clasping his hand on my shoulder. This is something I would have never dreamed of happening, not in this lifetime.

“Thanks.” When Liz and I got back from Vegas she and I had a sit down with my parents. Tempers rose and names were called but in the end my parents accepted me and I accepted them into my life. It hasn’t been easy but I’ve learned to love then for what they are and what they aren’t. We have dinner with them every few weeks and things are slow but they are moving along.

“She looks beautiful Max.”

“You saw her?” I ask as we make our way to the altar.

“Yeah. Your mother is in tears and her friend is a bit crazy but I saw her.” I laugh. Kris is crazy but I love her for it. She’s maid of honor and Michael naturally is best man. Taylor looks beautiful as the flower girl and smiles brightly as she throws rose petals down the isle. We wanted to keep it small, just close friends and my family. This time we did it right; church, flowers and the whole honeymoon thing.

The music starts and I wipe the palms of my hands against my pants. I don’t know why I’m nervous we are married already anyway it’s not like she can say no. I see her walk down the isle and she looks like an angel, my angel. She still manages to take my breath away with one flash of a smile.

We decided to keep her grandmothers house as a sort of getaway for us. Liz took me up there a few months ago and it’s a lovely house but she was right I could never live there, I love the beach too much. I think that Liz was relived when I said that I didn’t want to live there, the house held too many memories for her and I know that Tess had a lot to do with that. To cheer her up a little after I let her take full reign on our house and she’s finally got it to how she wants it minus curtains.

We found out a few months ago that Liz was pregnant again but she suffered a miscarriage. It was hard on her but we are looking into other options to have a baby. I don’t want her to suffer anymore in that way.

She takes her place next to me and everything else fades away. I only see Liz and her beauty.

“….I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.” Liz and I talked about our ‘church kiss’ so no tongue. I caress her cheek before leaning in for a gentle kiss. This will be the last time I get married and I love that feeling.

“Ok have fun!” Kris says as we get into the limo. The reception was held at a hotel and we had a blast.

“We’ll see you when you get back.” Everyone waves us off and we drive to the airport.

“So can you tell me now where we are going?” She asks me. I kept the honeymoon a secret but I know she’s always wanted to go where we are going.

“Nope.”

“Come on. It’s not Vegas is it?”

“No way! We need a break from Vegas.” She settles onto my lap and I kiss her hair.

“Are you happy?” She asks.

“Very. You?”

“Extremely.” We pull up to the airport and get in the plane.

“Ok, at least tell me how long the flight is.”

“Sorry. All I can say is that it’s long, very long.” We settle into our seats and wait for take off.

“Max!” Hours later we arrive at our destination.

“What?” I shrug and smile as she looks around.

“I love you.” We are in Italy, someplace she’s always wanted to go.

“Come on let’s get to the room.” She hop in the limo and drive to our hotel room.

“It’s beautiful.” I booked us the penthouse suite at a luxury hotel and it didn’t disappoint.

“No Jacuzzi but there is a large whirlpool tub.” She runs to the bathroom and squeals when she sees it. I had the entire bathroom adorned with flowers and candles for our arrival.

I see her throw her clothes on the floor from behind the door and waste no time in joining her.

“This is perfect.” She says.

“This.” I lick her nipple. “is perfect.” She throws her head back in the water and slides onto my cock.

“Oh God.” I say as soon as I feel her envelop me. I can never get over the feeling of her being inside me. It’s where I always want to be.

“Umm Max.” She moans my name as she rides me painfully slow. My hands wander all over her body needing to feel every inch of her.

“oh yes Max you feel so gooddddd.” Her face is flushed and she quickens her pace.

“Angel not here. Let’s get out.” Reluctantly she slides off me and dripping wet we run to the large bed throwing the covers aside.

“Your beautiful.” I kiss her neck and caress her breasts while my member rests on her stomach.

“Max please. I need you.”

“You need me to do what?” I ask teasing her nub with the pads of my thumb.

“I need you to make love to me Max. Right now!” Not wanting to disappoint I slowly slide into her.

“Shit!” She wraps her legs around me and I thrust into her slow and steady building her up until she can’t take it anymore.

“Max harder.” She pants and grabs my ass pushing me further into her.

“As you wish.” I rest my arms on the bed next to her head and push harder and deeper.

“Oh God YES! YES!” My hips move in circles as I hit her sweet spot like I know she likes.

“Liz you feel so good baby.” I see her bite her bottom lip and know she’s close. I want to see her fall apart and focus on her beautiful face.

“Let go Liz.” My thrusts and short and fast as she tumbles over the edge. Her walls clam down on me and I can’t resist. I let go and spill my seed into her screaming her name out as I let go.

“That was...” She says wiping sweat off her brow.

“It was.” I lift off her and lay next to her not wanting to crush her. As I lay here next to my sleeping wife I wonder can life get any better then this? Almost two years ago I was a clod hearted asshole with no one in his life. Now I have a wife and decent relationship with my parents. Who would have thought? Certainly not me. Liz has changed my life in so many ways. Some small and some huge but she’s changed me and I’m thankful for that. I am thankful that she chipped the ice away from my heart and opened me up.

The rest of the two weeks we are there is a blur as we spent most of it in bed. I can’t get enough of her and hope that it never changes. Everyday I fall more and more in love with her. Everyday I find something new that I love about her. A little thing that she does when she thinks I’m not looking to make me smile for no reason in particular. She catches me watching her all the time and always asks me what I’m looking at but she doesn’t know that just watching her brings such joy into my heart. The feeling of knowing that no matter what, for the rest of our lives, she will be my wife.

I never thought it was possible to love someone this much, to want to protect someone against anything that might hurt them but I have that with Liz now and I don’t mind at all. Taking that trip to Vegas was the best thing I ever did. I often wonder if it was fate that I saw her again? If it was fate that she and I cross paths again after that awful incident all those years ago and fall madly in love. I‘m with the only woman that I ever loved and I couldn’t ask for anything more. I’m not a spiritual man by any means but I’d like to think that something or someone made sure that what happened in Vegas didn’t stay in Vegas.

There will be a sequel to this and it should be up in a few weeks. It’s called When in Vegas and will give you some insight into Max and Liz’s life now that they are married. Will Max be happy as a married man, will Liz really open up and stop running away ,will Kris ever get a man and will Max and Liz ever have a baby?? Read and find out. I hope to see you all there as well and if not thank you, truly, for taking the time out to read this. The banner is up on my authors page if you'd like to check it out :D
