Sorry Chapter 40 was so short. I'll make it up with good news, but it's up to you guys on what it is.
Chapter 41
“I’ve never seen anything like that.” Michael confessed to Max.
“Me either.” Max replied.
“We’re fathers.” The four of them could hear Michael and Max mumble in disbelief. Relief took over them when they turned with amazed smiles. “We’re fathers!” They repeated ecstatic as Kyle, Isabel and Ava joined in the group hug. “Congratulations!” They all yelled swaying Max and Michael back and forth as they hugged them one by one.
“Can we see them?” Isabel asked with an eager smile.
“Hold on for a minute.” Max said as he went into Michael’s room with Michael following behind. “Alright. You guys can come in.” Max said opening the door. Maria was snuggled underneath the covers with her head resting on fluffed pillows with a little bundle in her arms.
“Hey, guys.” Maria greeted not tearing her eyes off of Brady.
“Oh, my God. He’s so little.” Isabel exclaimed covering her mouth in amazement. “Congratulations.” She said hugging Maria after Kyle did.
“Let’s just hope the kid has your hair.” Kyle whispered to Maria and then winked.
“Have you guys seen Ben yet?” Maria asked.
“Not yet, Liz insisted you’d be there first.” Max informed her as he picked up Brady so Michael could carry her to Liz.
Max’s Room
“Liz?” Maria called out as Michael carried her in.
“Maria! How’s Brady?” Liz asked happy to see her as she cradled Ben in her arms.
“See for yourself.” Maria said pointing with her chin to Max who was carrying Brady to her.
“Oh, my God, Maria he has your eyes.” Liz said in amazement as Michael lowered Maria beside Liz.
“Let me see my nephew.” Maria said opening her arms to get Benjamin. “Oh, just look those cheeks! Precioso tan lindo!” Maria giggled in baby talk.
“Michael, Brady is the splitting image of you.” Liz commented looking at Michael who was sitting by Maria with a proud smile.
“Ben definitely looks just like Max.” Michael added.
“He has his eyes.” Liz said dazed as she gazed into Max’s eyes.
“They’re beautiful.” Max answered. “There’s a mob of family and friends outside about to break down the door if we don’t let them in.” Max said pointing to the door.
“Let them in.” Liz demanded as she made baby faces to Brady. Max walked over to the door and let them in, nearly running all over him.
“Oh my God, Max! He looks just like you.” Isabel said in amazement. “Zan was all Te…sorry, it’s not the right time for that.” Isabel quickly apologized when she saw Maria and Liz’s head shoot up when Tess’s name was almost mentioned.
“It’s okay, Isabel.” Liz said with a smile. “Tess is in the past. I’m only interested in right now.”
Bryan Adams - On A Day Like Today
Free is all you gotta be
dream dreams no one else can see
sometimes ya wanna run away
but ya never know what might be comin' round your way
ya ya ya
On a day like today
the whole world could change
the sun's gonna shine
shine thru the rain
on a day like today
ya never wanna see the sun go down
ya never wanna see the sun go down
Somewhere - there's a place for you
I know that you believe it too
sometimes if you wanna get away
all ya gotta know is what we got is here to stay
all the way
On a day like today - the whole world could change
the sun's gonna shine - shine thru the rain
on a day like today - no one complains
free to be pure - free to be sane
on a day like today
ya never wanna see the sun go down
ya never wanna see the sun go down
Free is all we gotta be
dream dreams no one else can see
but ya never know what might be comin' for you and me
ya it's gonna be
on a day like today...
“Do you guys mind if I can talk to Maria?” Liz asked.
"We'll be just outside." Max informed her getting a nod from her and then kissed her and Ben on their foreheads before leaving as everyone said their good-bye's to the newborns, leaving the two alone. Maria and Liz placed Brady and Ben between them as they laid down underneath the covers and faced each other like they always did when they were about to talk.
“So, how are you?” Liz asked Maria.
“I’m fine. How about you?” Maria asked concerned.
“I’m happy.” Liz said in tears making Maria cry as well. “I’m happy I have you and Max and Ben and…I’m so happy.” Liz cried even harder in her pillow giving Ben access to a strand of Liz’s hair that was now clutched in his hand.
“What is it with the Evans guys and your hair?” Maria asked making Liz laugh as she started taking Liz’s hair out from Ben’s grasps but then Brady got a hold on one of her strands.
‘I'm gonna have to touch your hair...cuz it's so soft...’ Echoed through Liz’s head.
“Ouch.” Maria winced as Brady pulled that one string of hair out from her head. “Oh yeah, you’re going to be just like your father.” Maria commented.
“Maria, are you happy?” Liz asked helping Maria get her hair out of Brady’s death grip.
“Then I ever thought I could.” Maria answered. Liz smiled and held on to Brady’s and Ben’s tiny hands in one of hers and then Maria placed hers on top of Liz’s, suddenly Liz got up and looked at Maria in a bead of sweat. “Liz? Are you okay? Should I call Max?”
“Maria, I had another preminition." Liz announced stunned.
"What was it?" Maria asked frightened.
"Maria...we can go back home.” Liz exhaled.
