~~~~~MARIA~~~~~
“Maria, if you were a young famous fashion designer would you hire me to do your wedding? Don’t say yes just because you’re my best friend and assistant. I need an honest answer. You know I really want this job…for both of us. We have two weddings this weekend and both of these together aren’t half as big as this one could be.”
Liz says whilst I eat.
I sigh. "Liz, Im telling you honestly, not clouded by my best friend status...and I think...I would DEFINITELY hire you. You are the best person for the job! So STOP PANICING!" I tell her putting my hands on my hips.
I sigh as I look down at my food and eat some more. I can't help but wonder who the groom is and if he has any nice single friends. I keep hoping I'll meet a guy at one of these weddings that Liz and I do...but it hasn't happened yet. But I am determined that Mr. Right is out there for me.
"Do you know who the groom is?" I ask Liz. "Anyone I'd have heard of?" Hmm...this is good food.
OT: Everyone, this RP is going so well and I'm having a blast but I have one request if at all possible. The posts are kind of short and like one or two lines. All of the players will have more to work with if you can give some more info in your posts. Use more of the person's background and what they're thinking and I think we'll make this storyline even more interesting. Just a suggestion to give everyone more to work with. It's hard to work off of a one or two line response from someone. I need to know they're thoughts, maybe something in their past that they shared. You can even do a flashback if you want, just make sure to consult with anyone else you involve in the flashback to get their ok. Thanks and again, I'm having a blast with this RP.
“Excuse me, lovely ladies, is this seat taken?” I laugh and roll my eyes as Alex takes a seat in the booth.
Alex is a sweatheart, It's not hard to see why Izzy loves him so much. I watch as they greet each other and it's all I can do to stop myself from going awww. It's so nice to have someone see what an amazing person Izzy is, I mean yeah Max knows but thats her brother.
Alex is the right mix of attentive but laid back enough not to be overwhelmed by Isabel's nazi streak. I love how well they fit together, god I sound like some love sick fool but I just think its really awesome for Iz. I wish I had that with max, I mean we fit but not like they do...
"Hey," I say, smiling up as Alex takes a seat beside me. I quickly lean over and give him a kiss on the lips. "I'm glad you could join is for dinner," I tell him.
God, I can't wait to be married to this guy. He's just the most amazing, caring, sweet guy there is out there, I don't know what kind of person I would be without him.
"So what have you been up to this morning?" I ask him with a smile.
Guys, this week has just been running me ragged. I know it's my turn for both Alex and Liz and I'll get something posted as quick as I can but it might be Sunday night before I can get something out. I hope you can be patient. I started a new job and am still working the old one a couple of days while I'm in orientation for the new one. Then I have friends coming from out of town for the weekend. I'll be back as soon as I can.
I search my memory for any clues as to who the groom is but come up with a blank. “I really don’t know. I remember reading somewhere that she had been dating some guy who…oh, what was it? Something about computers but that was a while ago and I don’t know if it was true or not.”
I finish my last bite and stand up to throw away the containers, brushing crumbs from my skirt as I do. I always eat in a hurry when I’m nervous too. I do feel better, however. I know I do my job well and I love it. I just hope Isabel Evans hadn’t seen that story in the bridal magazine article on “Wedding Disasters” last month. It was not my fault that the best man had objected to the marriage during the ceremony and run off with the bride, leaving the groom bawling like a baby and chaos among the guests. Unfortunately, the article had mentioned that I had been the planner on that one. I believe the article said, “We guess even meticulous Liz Parker of ‘Weddings by Liz’, who was hired as the wedding coordinator, couldn’t have planned on this unhappy ending.” Maria said it was a compliment but I thought it was a dig. The author was a stuck up snot that I had met a couple of times.
“Mr. Manning is going to be dropping Mandy’s guest list off in a few minutes. I need to go and grab the sample albums from my office and bring them down. Would you mind taking care of him?” I ask her. Poor Mandy! I’m so glad the girl is getting married and changing her last name. What were her parents thinking when they called her Mandy Manning? She had told me that she had been teased mercilessly in school and tried going by Amanda but it didn’t help. Mandy Simpson sounded much better.
I almost answer Isabel’s question automatically, but catch myself just in time. Isabel hates when I get too technical on her. She says it makes her feel like an airhead because she can’t even seem to stay focused on the conversation if I go too much into “computer land”. Quickly reforming my answer, I smile at her.
“I had to visit a couple of clients this morning who were having problems accessing certain programs on their systems,” I answer smoothly. “How about you? What’s the latest disaster happening in the world of high fashion?”
