Occ: Ok, I've come across another character but he will only pop up now and again but he will be a bad guy. Does anyone want to play Nickolas or should I just play him when we need him? He won't be around often and most of the time, he will be talking with Kivar or will be following Kivar's orders. However, his role has the potential to be bigger if someone would like to run with it. So anyone interested?

I watch her for a moment as she walks down the hall with her ladies-in-waiting. She is so beautiful and even soaking wet, she looks perfect. I sigh a little but quietly so that no one will hear me. I move to my own dressing chambers and remove my wet clothes. My valet helps me to dry off and dress quickly. I am arranging my hair when the door opens and the guard sticks his head in to announce that Nickolas would like to speak with me.

I frown but say, "Send him in." He enters and I am again reminded of my mistakes and horrible behavior of the past. He must have gotten his dark hair and complexion from his mother but his eyes...his eyes are mine, a steel gray that turns icy when he is plotting and devising. I feel a pang of remorse. I have become my father...with Nickolas. He has this look of hatred for the world and knows only of war. At least I made sure that the woman who raised him never beat him. I know he had a lonely childhood as I never dared to come and see him. The old woman I gave him to for raising was not a grandmotherly type but she said she would take care of him and she sent me a report every once in a while, often with a question in her tone of why I would be interested in this particular boy. I had only offered that I had found the boy abandoned and his mother was dead as an explanation but the old woman had often looked at me with a knowing look when I saw her. She died 8 years ago.

"What is it, Nickolas? I told everyone I was not to be disturbed today. I'm spending the day with Vilandra," I tell him firmly.

Isabel

My ladies-in-waiting usher me down the hallway hurriedly,one of them draping a towel around my shoulders,scolding me slightly for getting caught in the rain.They fuss like mother hens at times.
"Take your gown off my lady,Melinda will have it cleaned." instructs Veronica,the chief lady-in-waiting as soon as we get to my private quarters and I comply wordlessly,removing the soaking garment

She walks with me in to the huge bathing area and waits till I get in to the tub of hot water,when I lay back she sets about washing my hair as I relax,letting the hot water take the chill out of my body.Many thoughts race through my mind as I sit there pondering over everything Kivar told me earlier on.I only wish to god that he is being sincere.

"Veronica please have Simone take out my blue chiffon gown.I would like to wear that for my husband this afternoon." Immediately she rises and makes her way to my bedroom and I quickly finish bathing.I don't want to keep Kivar waiting for too long even though he said to take my time.

"Let my hair remain open Veronica." I tell her as she moves to dry and set "He likes it open and flowing." Stepping in to the gown I allow one of the ladies to hook it up at the back while another one uses her power to take the dampness out of my locks,"Thank you dear." I smile at her
"You look lovely my lady." Veronica says

"Thank you and you all may take off for the rest of the day,I will not be needing you..." I see them about to protest so I raise my hand in the air "No no I won't hear anything,just go,go spend time with your families and your lovers." They file out of my chambers happily.Looking at myself one last time in the mirror I proceed to the private dining room which in the room between Kivar's and my bedrooms,I use the door connecting our rooms to it and find it empty so I sit down near the window and wait.

Occ: ok, since I want to keep Kivar moving, I'll post for Nickolas in my posts for now. If someone wants to create a bigger character out of him, let me know.

Nickolas' eyes narrow a bit at my words. "That, my lord, is what I want to speak to you about. What is this sudden change? Why are you suddenly spending time with the queen again when you have heard the testimonies against her. She has been unfaithful and she has written letters and sent messages to her family that could be constituted as treason..."

I don't allow him to finish his statement as my anger blazes and I whip around from the mirror, grabbing him by the throat. He struggles for air and my eyes narrow to slits. "If you had been any other, I would kill you where you stand simply for questioning me. As you are my closest advisor, however..." I let him drop to the floor and he gasps for air. "I have talked with Vilandra. The guard who reported her as being unfaithful lied. Have him thrown into the keep below ground. I will deal with him later. As for her letters and messages, there has been no harm done. She has been unhappy but they have never reached their destination and I have promised to make her happier so that we might try our lives together again."

He snorts and I give him a warning look. He shrugs. "Why bother? She's just another woman, Kivar."

I shake my head, his words somehow making me ashamed and sad and angry and confused all at once. "She is not just another woman, Nickolas. I would not have you speak ill of her again. Now go. I have more pressing matters to attend to right now than placating your fears."

He knows not to do anything other than leave when I order him like that. He bows and leaves the room. I sigh and open the doors after I have given him sufficient time to be away from the room. Making my way to the dining room, I start to open the door when I tell the guard standing at it, "We are not to be disturbed for any reason. Is that clear?" He nods and salutes me and I open the door. The table is set for the two of us and Vilandra sits at in the window seat. I smile at the sight of her.

"I'm sorry to keep you waiting, my dear. I'm so glad to see that you wore your hair down for me." I move to her and finger her hair lovingly. "You look lovely. Are you hungry? Shall we eat?"

"I'm sorry to keep you waiting, my dear. I'm so glad to see that you wore your hair down for me." he asks as he runs his fingers through my hair
Looking up at him I smile,"That's okay,I wasn't waiting very long.You look handsome." I stand up and smoothen out a non-existant wrinkle on his shirt

"You look lovely. Are you hungry? Shall we eat?"
I feel myself blush happily when he compliments me.This is how he used to be,always telling me how beautigul and lovely I looked.I missed it!
"Yes let's eat but I am not very hungry." As he turns towards the table I take hold of his wrist,"Kivar...I do appreciate you trying to change.I was very scared for a long time that there was no hope for us."

I turn to the table but she grabs my wrist and I turn back to her questioningly. "Kivar...I do appreciate you trying to change.I was very scared for a long time that there was no hope for us."

I smile wanly and then hold her face with my hand. "Lonnie, I'm not a perfect man. I cannot promise you that I'll never say another unkind thing to you but I honestly don't know why I have taken everything to the extreme like I have. I promise you that you won't regret this." I place a gentle kiss on her forehead, then her nose and finally her lips. Then I pull her over to her chair and hold it out for her. "After lunch, if it's stopped raining, maybe we can go for a ride. My horse, Thunderbolt, could use some excercise. If it's still raining, maybe we could spend some time in the library. We could play a game or whatever you want to do."

After she is seated, I pull out my own chair and sit in it. I ring the little bell next to my plate and one of the footmen comes in. "Please feel free to serve lunch now," I tell him.

"Very good, your majesty."

My father shakes his head. "No, I'm afraid the ceremony will be held on Antar. It's important for the people there to see their future king and his bride married there.”

He is smiling somehow sad and I swallow down a lump when I hear his words. Sure I can understand why Xan want the ceremony to be held on his planet but still I would have liked to marry on my homeworld. I can’t help but wonder if it would be very different to the wedding traditions on Eurolgan. “But… but you will come there too for the ceremony?” My voice sounds small. I can hardly stand the thought to not be guided down the aisle by my father.

“Your fiance is sending two guards here to watch over you and protect you until the wedding.” Only now do I realise the meaning of his words and release Alex’ Hand. “How dare he?” Pushing my chair back I stand up fretting and fuming. “Does he think that our guards can’t protect me? Does he think so low of the people of Eurolgan?”

He kisses me tenderly on the lips after promising to do the best he can,"After lunch, if it's stopped raining, maybe we can go for a ride. My horse, Thunderbolt, could use some excercise. If it's still raining, maybe we could spend some time in the library. We could play a game or whatever you want to do." he says and leads me to the table

"I'd just like to spend some time with you,I don't care what we're doing." I smile across the table at him as our food is served to us.We don't talk much during the meal but I observe him discreetly,every now and then.I realise that I still love him,that it was not all gone like I thought it had.I am determined to make our relationship work now.I'll make him a better man,with love and patience and kindness.

I hold up my hand at Liz's outburst. "Hold on, sweetheart, hold on. First of all, in answer to your first question, you know I would not miss your wedding for all the star systems in the galaxy. Second, I too was upset at first when I received Xan's message but then I realized that it is in his best interests as well as ours for him to send these guards. It shows that he is going to go through with the marriage and it will also help to protect the peace we have in the system. This marriage alliance is very important to the peace treaties we have signed and there are still those who would not want peace and could try to do something to stop this wedding."

I look to Alex for his reaction to this and see how he will handle his sister's outburst.

We eat in silence for a while and I feel like we should talk or something but I don't know what to say. I barely taste the food as I am too busy watching her eat. It's like watching a dance she is so graceful. I think about the messages that she has tried to send to her brother and decide to see how she will react if I ask about her family. Will she still want to beg them for help in leaving me?

"Lonnie," I say breaking the quiet. "Have you heard from your family lately? Your brother or your parents?"

I can feel his eyes on me,it's quite unnerving and yet flattering at the same time,"Lonnie," he breaks the silence and I look at him "Have you heard from your family lately? Your brother or your parents?"

His question startles me slightly but I manage to keep my composure.There is every possibility that he knows I tried sending them messages to help me get away from Taggora but that is in the past now and there is no reason to bring it up.

"No as a matter of fact I haven't.Neither Xan nor my parents have sent me any kind of correspondence.I hope they are okay." Having said that I close my plate carefully,putting the knife and fork down side by side and get up

I sigh a little as I watch her just barely pause in her movements before answering me. "No as a matter of fact I haven't.Neither Xan nor my parents have sent me any kind of correspondence.I hope they are okay," she says and lays her silverware down to show she is done. She stands and I reach and take her hand.

"Maybe you should try to send them a message now. I'm sure they're fine. Just busy probably." I smile up at her reassuringly and realize that I will let her next message go through because I know that she won't ask them for help to leave.
