Part 73

“So this is how it’s going to work.”

Michael paused to make sure he had everyone’s attention. Seeing they were all serious and only Maria retained the smirk from his earlier humiliation he moved on.

“Isabel and Ava couldn’t get a location out of Mr. Parker because he’s been unconscious this whole time. They were able however to set up a link between his mind and Isabel’s. Liz your going to follow that link to astral project yourself there so we get a location.

It’s important that you follow the link only so no one else there will be able to see you. Get the location as best you can and get back here. Got it?”

Liz nodded.

“Alright, once we have a location we go in. Kyle and Alex will be in charge of getting Jeff, but they will wait for the signal from Isabel.”

“What’s the signal?”

“I’ll tell you we’ve started attacking. Once we start Khivar and Sundari will be distracted enough for you to shimmer in, get Mr. Parker, and get back here.”

“Thanks Iz.” She rolled her eyes as the sarcasm dripped from Michael’s voice. Relieved that there was no tension between them.

“Anyways, as I was explaining before I was interrupted,”

Isabel stuck her tongue out at him, “Alex and Kyle will bring Jeff back here to Liz.”

He held up a hand before she could even open her mouth. “You have to stay here so you can heal your dad. We don’t know for sure how extensive the damage is and Max will be going up against Sundari and Khivar with the rest of us.”

Liz slumped her shoulders, upset to be left out, but understanding it was important to be here to save her dad’s life.

“Kal you’re gonna be on Valenti watch.”

“What the hell is Valenti watch?”

The girls chuckled as Kyle, Jim, and Kal all looked at each other startled.

“Kal you watch the Sheriff’s back as he will be focused on giving our powers a boast.”

“Won’t that defeat the purpose if I’m dividing it up between, seven of you?”

“No because you’ll only be giving your powers to Max, Serena and Spencer who will be dealing with Khivar. The rest of us,” Michael waved his arm around indicated to Isabel, Ava, Christina, and himself, “…the rest of us will be dealing with Sundari and since Christina will be with us well have access towards the Granolith.”

“What about Maria?” Spencer asked the question. More from the others quickly followed it.

“Yeah what about Maria?”

“How the hell did she connect with the Granolith?”

“Chica, why didn’t you tell me about that?”

“Why weren’t we informed of this new development.”

“I thought we weren’t keeping secrets from each other anymore? Maria having a connection to the Granolith seems like a pretty big secret to me.”

Kal rolled his eyes wondering how they ever managed to get anything accomplished.

Valenti who was used to their ways decided to wander out to the vending machines for a snack. Kal had already explained to him in detail about Maria’s new status in the not so regulated club.

Christina let out a long low whistle that instantly had everyone turning towards her for an answer.

“I had to open my connection with the Granolith to Maria so she could access its energy for us. Maria is the only one whose emotions are motivated most strongly by her desire to protect her family. The rest of us ‘aliens’ are too biased because of our past lives and experience with Khivar.

The Granolith will pick up those emotions of retribution and malice towards Khivar and it will backfired on me. On all of us. Maria’s emotions aren’t tainted in the same way as ours are. So whereas, I could use the Granolith to help us defeat the random Skin army, we need Maria to use it for the likes of Khivar and Sundari.”

Silence followed her explanation. It wasn’t like they could do anything to change it. What was done was done and it happened to save them so they couldn’t really complain about being left out. That doesn’t mean they didn’t want to know why they were.

“Why weren’t we told?”

Max repeated his early question this time the tone was not authoritative, merely curious.

“In case one of you was captured. Maria would have been in deep trouble if Sundari or Niko ripped that knowledge from your minds.”

“Cool. So is Maria a part of rescue mission?” Kyle gave a bemused smile towards Michael.

Michael frowned and looked towards Christina. To be honest when he was thinking of strategies he had forgotten about the necessity of Maria’s new connection with the Granolith. Even if he hadn’t, he still wanted to protect her at all costs and that meant keeping her far away from the battles.

Christina saw her brother look to her for an answer she shrugged her shoulders knowing what he had to do and knowing he knew it too.

Max took lead seeing the siblings at an impasse of what to do.

“Christina, your ability to draw on the Granolith’s energy will be inhibited by your feelings towards Sundari. Correct?”

“Yes.”

“Okay then, how about Maria takes your place to take on Sundari and you can help out Kyle. Then we can move Alex to the team dealing with Sundari to watch out for Maria or something like that.

Christina ran the new plan through her head, but didn’t answer knowing it was Michael’s call. He was the General for a reason. Hopefully his heart wouldn’t cloud his judgment.

Michael ignored all the stares as everyone turned to him waiting for his response. He knew it was the right way to go about this. But that doesn’t mean he liked any part of it. At last he sighed heavily and turned towards his pixie.

“You better not get yourself killed.”

Maria smiled at him, “Don’t worry Michael. You can’t get rid of me that easily.”

Part 74

This time it was Liz and Isabel who were laid out on the hotel bed. Not from exhaustion, but in order to put their next plan into action.

Liz took in a deep shaky breath and looked at Isabel for answers on how to proceed.

"Sorry Liz, this is all you. We'll form a connection and then you have to find your dad inside my head. Follow that small link towards him. It should get stronger the closer you get. When you get there he'll probably be unconscious still, look around for as many details as you can get. I'm sure you could walk around too but don't' go to far from your dad. And if one of the others are their guarding him, well then hurry back here and we'll try again a bit later."

Isabel closed her eyes and settled back. Liz followed her example a moment later she closed her eyes and then picked up Isabel's had, decided it would work better this way.

Max and Alex where the only ones in the rooms providing moral support. The rest waited in the other room, not wanting to distract the girls. Plus, they still had to work out some plans. It was a few minutes before Liz took in a sharp breath altering Max and Alex who rushed to their sides, but didn't touch them.

Once Liz was connected to Isabel it was easy for her to find her father's essence lingering at the back of Iz's mind. Hesitantly Liz reached out for it until in enveloped her in recognition. As it grew a little stronger Liz tried to follow where it was originating from. Suddenly she no longer felt the soft mattress underneath her or Isabel lying next to her. She was in a cold, empty building. She saw her father lying on the concert floor. Tears formed in her eyes but she refused to let them fall. Liz looked around thoroughly making sure she was alone before she wander around trying to figure out where they were holding her father.

She found a small window at the back of the building. And cautiously walked over, hoping she wouldn't disappear if she got to far from her dad.

It would figure that the window was taller than she was. She gripped the ledge of it and pulled herself up. Her lack of upper body strength allowed her to see the window covered in dust before she fell back.

Her feet hit the ground again and she huffed in frustration. Looking around again, this time more carefully at the floor, she found a box. Silently Liz dragged it towards the window and balanced on top of it.

Using her shirt she cleaned the glass and smiled when she saw buildings in the distance. The smile faltered as she realized they weren't very distinguished buildings. It could have been were her body and the others where or a neighboring town.

As she jumped down she heard a murmur of voices. She ran to a dark corner closed her eyes and held her breath. It felt like forever before the voices passed. Liz let out a breath and inhaled deeply through her nose.

The door slammed open startling Liz to lose the connection and drift back to Isabel and the others, but as she did she held onto the smell of sawdust.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Three hours later, if one had looked carefully they might have seen the twelve figures sneaking around outside the recently closed furniture manufacturing building. The smell of sawdust lead them to this building in the very next town over.

Christina and Kyle crouched down off to the side, as Michael sent a blast through the front doors.

Spencer, Ava, and Isabel slipped in first followed by Serena, Jim, Max, and Alex. Kal, Michael, and Maria entered last with Maria flanked between the two men.

"Something tells me you did not bring the Granolith Zan."

They looked up to see Khivar in the rafters. While they were looking up, Sundari stepped out from behind a pillar and sent a blast at Maria.

Kal deflected it easily.

"I see you've managed to bring the protector though. Useless bastard if you ask me, living the life of royalty, while the Royals he was swore to protect grow up scared and running from the FBI."

Kal smirked at the shameful yet accurate description. A smirk that only grew as Maria gripped his hand in support. At some point during the planning Michael had rearranged Alex and Kal so Maria would be protected by the most powerful experienced individual with them.

By now Khivar was standing next to Sundari.

"How do you want to do this Zan? Shall I kill you first this time or do you want to be last again?"

Max half shrugged as he answered, "Might as well start with me, see how far that gets you."

With that Michael sent a blast at Sundari as Spencer sent one towards Khivar. Sundari managed to dive so it only hit her leg and Khivar blocked the blast altogether with a shimmering black shield that deflected the blast back towards them. Isabel raised her purple shield absorbing Spencer's blast harmlessly.

Kal and Maria ran off to one side of the building with Alex and Jim across from them. Maria noticed Khivar sending both pairs a suspicious look, but then he was caught up in the three way attack from Spencer, Serena, and Max.

Serena worked at mentally distracting Khivar as Spencer and Max sent energy blasts at him. For the most part it seemed to be working, but every now and then Khivar would get off a blast of his own. A blast that would have finished off any of them if they didn't have quick reflexes and Jim's amplifying skill going into their shields.

On the other side of the building Isabel and Ava were holding hands with their eyes clenched shut. Michael stood a bit in front of them with an arm raised. He brought up Iz's purple shield every now and then when Sundari would send a frustrated blast at the trio or just to give Ava and Isabel an upper hand in the mental attack.

Maria waited off to one side watching closely for a sign that more energy was needed.

Since Isabel was deep in connection with Ava fighting with Sundari, Maria now had the task of alerting Christina and Kyle to act. Thinking as loudly as she could with the Granolith's energy behind the thought she sent towards Christina, "Go get Jeff."

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Christina and Kyle were outside listening anxiously this whole time. Twice Kyle had to stop Christina from running into the building to help out.

Christina pulled on Kyle's hand to get his attention as Maria's words smacked into her brain with force. She nodded. Kyle closed his eyes to focus on Liz. After a minute he found the small connection she had to her dad. Kyle focused on that, and sent a prayer up to Buddha as they disappeared, hoping they ended up next to Jeff Parker and not in the midst of the fighting.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Christina and Kyle shimmered into a back room of the building. Christina dropped Kyle's hand and bent over the moaning form of Jeff. She looked up to find Kyle with his eyes closed.

She rolled her eyes, "Kyle were fine, you can open your..."

She was cut off by the appearance of two Skins behind him. She succeed in blasting one as she dove to tackle Kyle.

Kyle swore as they hit the ground. He recovered first though and aimed a kick at the Skin who was still standing.

Kyle aimed for his lower back to break the husk since the Skin was bent over Mr. Parker.

Christina sighed in relief as dust particles covered Jeff and not an energy blast.

By now the second Skin was recovering his feet but both Kyle and Christina were already standing and waiting for him. Kyle moved them a few feet with his powers so they stood between Jeff and the last remaining Skin.

Christina sent a small wave of thoughts into the Skins mind overwhelming her. The Skin grabbed her head and bent over, spinning to the side a little as she did so. Kyle wasted no time as he broke the seal of the husk with a small blast.

Finally, they both knelt by Mr. Parker, Christina checked for a pulse as Kyle gently picked up his other hand. She looked up at him, only her eyes revealing any emotion, "Quick Kyle, his pulse is slowing."

As they shimmered away they heard a faint, tortured scream erupt from somebody in the main room.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Some chance of fate allowed Kyle to land Jeff on the bed with Christina still kneeling over him. He stumbled a few feet away from the bed as Liz pushed him back a second after he appeared.

A sob escaped Liz's throat when she saw his features. Liz thought briefly that strong father figures should never look so weak. She shoved the thoughts away as she place one hand on his chest, the other on his head; knowing Nicholas and the other had probably taken a few strolls in his mind.

Christina softly placed her own hand on top of Liz's ready to give her energy if she should need it.

Kyle sat in the arm chair watching helplessly as first Liz and later Christina began to glow silver and gold respectively.

As Liz worked to heal all the physical damage Christina with the Granolith's energy repaired Jeff's mental pathways that were damaged. She restored his memories that were faded or distorted too.

Kyle began pacing the longer the two girls were connected to Mr. Parker.

Liz was the first one to gasp for air and open her eyes, seeing that Christina was still glowing Liz remained still. She could feel Christina pulling the most basic healing from her as she worked on her dad's mind.

It was twenty minutes later that Christina gasped for air and pulled away from Jeff Parker who was slowly opening his eyes.

"Lizzy?"

"Oh Daddy!"

Tears of relief and joy spilled across Liz's cheeks as she embraced her father. Christina smiled for her friend and was pretty certain she saw Kyle wipe at a stray tear. After a few minutes she coughed startling the reunited father and daughter, "Sorry Mr. Parker...ah Liz, Kyle and I are going to get back to the others. You're gonna stay with your dad?"

Liz nodded as Christina reached for Kyle's outstretched hand, "I'm glad you're okay Mr. Parker."

It was a hoarse response but he still managed, "Thanks Kyle," and then Jeff Parker's mouth dropped open as the two vanished before his very eyes.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Part 75

Unbeknownst to the Kyle and Christina, it was Sundari let out the tortured scream as they were escaping with Jeff Parker.

As Sundari dropped to the ground, one hand gripped her head the other sent dangerous blasts all throughout the room hopping to hit somebody.

Michael was busy dodging blasts as Ava tried to get back into Sundari's mind while Isabel protected them with her shield. Seeing Ava struggle Maria helped her out, her own eyes beginning to fleck with gold as she called forth the Granolith's energy.

Sundari seemed to notice this as a blast was sent towards Maria. Kal countered with a blast of his own, the two meeting and destroying each other on impact. Yet still to close to Maria for Michael's comfort.

He turned towards Sundari and blasted her backwards into the wall. She was knocked unconscious letting all her defenses down and Isabel and Ava's energy entered her mind violently, frying all her mental pathways and stopping her heart. They watched as slowly she turned to dust, much like Nasedo did so long ago.

Christina and Kyle entered in time to see Isabel drop her shield and Michael checking up on Maria. Christina whispered in Kyle's ear as they headed towards Michael. He paled, but nodded his head in agreement. Michael looked up as they stopped before him, "Mr. Parker?"

"Is fine and with Liz. Listen Michael..."

Then she proceeded to mentally explain what she had discovered in Jeff's mind. The reason why Khivar didn't seem to concerned that he was now, practically defeated. Maria too paled as she caught onto the details from her connection to Michael. When Christina looked at Michael expectantly he realized she was finished, "We have to get the humans out of here."

Christina nodded and closed her eyes. Alex and Jim were startled when they felt Christina gently brushing their consciousness. It quickly changed to horror as they grasped the details. They nodded in Michael's direction waiting for a distraction.

Kal stepped up to Michael, "I'll do it." Michael frowned, but nodded, "Ava, my dear, be a doll and keep Khivar from noticing until I'm right in front of him?"

She nodded as Kal walked off not really waiting for her answer. Spencer and Max were still attacking Khivar, as Serena battled him mentally.

As planned, when Kal stepped in front of Khivar Ava dropped the warp.

"Hi." Kal briefly noticed shock before he swung back and punched Khivar square in the jaw.

Jim and Alex were already by Kyle and Maria's side reaching out their own hands to grip Kyle.

Kyle was about to shimmer away when he noticed Michael's fierce gaze on Maria.

"You know what to do?"

She nodded towards him, "Come back to me Spaceboy."

As they shimmered away Kyle heard the whispered response meant only for Maria,

"Always."

The humans were gone, leaving the alien tyrant to their Antarian family.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Khivar flexed his jaw after Kal hit him.

"You always were a fool, shifter." Kal smirked at the bastard before he was sent flying backwards and crashed into a wall.

Christina had managed to inform the others about the explosive bomb that was about to go off killing all them and leaving behind a residue that would slowly but effectively kill all the humans on Earth by infecting them and causing them to decay from the inside out.

Max, Serena, and Spencer spaced out more forming half the semi-circle as Ava, Isabel, Michael and Christina finished the circle behind Khivar.

He looked around and laughed maliciously.

"Oh, think you're so cleaver do you? Just wait."

Isabel smiled beautifully as she raised her arm and a bomb very much like the one Michael encountered in Las Cruces came zooming out of no where. The only difference was it was three times bigger.

Isabel launched it into Khivar's gut, who was still mindless laughing thanks to Ava. Their unfortunate connection as brother and sister allowed her to slide into his mind and scramble it a little.

The pyramid bomb began to flicker and beep more frequently as first Serena and Spencer then Max and Isabel raised their shields.

With the Granolith's energy cursing through her veins and traveling along the connection she shared with her brother the shields expanded as Christina grabbed Max and Spencer's shoulders and Michael held onto Serena and Isabel's. Christina focused on her planet. On the fact that it was about to be obliterated. The shields grew, meeting and blending together forming a dome with Khivar and the explosive device trapped inside.

Ava dropped her mind games and lent her energy to the others.

With the exception of the energy shields crackling and beeping bomb the room was filled with an eerie silence.

Khivar regained his senses and looked at the seven Royals surrounding him.

"Antar will be lucky to have such leaders."

The bomb exploded and the seven flinched from the force of it. They held steady though trapping the poison within.

Max focused on the molecules, neutralizing them into something harmless for humans before he dropped his shield and the others followed suite.

Kal coughed as he stood, brushing some dirt off his suit.

He joined the others as they looked at each other small smiles beginning to form.

Only Christina caught the mischievous glitter in her brother's eyes before Michael spoke,

"What happens now Max?"

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Part 76

It was the next day that Kal had his private jet fly them all to Maine. When Michael asked Maria if she knew what to do, he meant getting all of them to the parents. She had to allow the Granolith's energy to flow directly into Kyle for him to have enough strength to get six of them across the country. Just in case they failed. At least the rest of them could be with their families when the end came.

The family reunion was joyous but short. The group had a lot of work to do before they could go back to their normal life. So the parents stayed holed up in their hide out for three more months as their kids worked to protect their families.

Kal used his vast resources to close the Special Unit completely. As well as any other groups with in the government who were suspicious about hostile life forms on Earth. It took three months for the last of them to be official closed. Unofficial as Kal worked with his connections in politics from all his money, Ava, Serena, Christina, and Isabel had the daunting task of dealing with the agents first hand.

No matter what steps where taken to stop the search for aliens, there would still be those extreme agents who were out to do whatever necessary for the protection of their country. So the girls neutralized them. One by one, starting in their subconscious, Isabel and Christina would carefully alter their values and beliefs making sure that the idea of hostile aliens from Roswell, New Mexico in the form of teenagers never crossed their minds. Ava was in charge of 'fixing' their memories so they didn't recall anything that would urge them to restart their investigations about a girl who was fatally shot one Setember morning, but never died, or about a hospital filled with cured children, or the explosion of an Air Force Base.

Anything remotely suspicious that pointed towards them Ava made sure to tweak it.

When Isabel, Christina, and Ava were done Serena would run a check through their emotions making sure that no negative feelings remained. Kal would set up the agents and former agents in different situations Serena would be nearby enough to get a feel of them and know if they were now or would ever be a threat towards their lives.

The unofficial part took another three months. In that time though the parents moved back to their homes in Roswell as did the rest of the citizens it seemed.

No news was ever reported about the strange activities that went on in Kingston, only a small article about the collapse of an old furniture manufacturer.

It was the beginning of the New Year when the hybrids and company decided to stop living off of Kal's generous support and go back home. It was close to closing time as they all walked into the Crashdown to find all the parents gathered together. The reunion this time was just as emotional, tears, laughter and even a bit of yelling from the DeLuca women. Jeff rushed to the front door flipping the closed sign and hurriedly sent the last remaining customer out. Nancy and the other moms where pampering Liz who was at this time bulging at seven months pregnant.

They were on their third round of cokes and starting in on some ice cream when there was a knock on the door before it opened and it walked, to everyone’s shock Brody Davis.

Jeff looked up surprised to see the UFO Center's owner at such a late hour, "I'm sorry Mr. Davis, but we're..."

That was as far as he got before Brody bowed regally.

Max stepped forward with Liz at his side and Michael and Isabel right behind him, "Larek?"

"Your majesties," Larek started looking at each of the four of them in the eye, "We have heard of your victory here on Earth, we are sorry it has taken us this long to send a contact, but it has taken this long to settle the rebellion going on amongst our own planets."

At this point Maria, Christina, and Kyle stepped forwards next to Michael as Serena, Ava, Spencer, and Alex fell in line by Isabel.

Larek took a moment to incline his head to each of them, blushing slighting when his eyes met Maria's and gasping for breath when he saw Christina, "It is true then Raeanne lives. The true Royal Four Square reigns."

"Larek, not to be rude or anything, but ah, what are you doing here exactly?"

Larek nodded at Max and continued his speech, ignoring the hovering parents who were gapping at him, "As I was saying I have come to inform you that the Star System is now at peace. Myself as well as the other leaders, Kathana, Sero, and Hanar, would like to request your present at a Peace Summit. All of you that is of course."

The connections they shared allowed Max to instantly know the majority of them although hesitant wanted to partake in this peace summit to ensure their newfound safety. Michael was the only one outright against it at this point without further questioning, but he could be dealt with.

"Larek we would be honored to be included in the Peace Summit, will it be in New York again or..." Max trailed off unsure and ignoring Michael's small groan of protest.

"No, your majesty..."

"Max, its just Max now."

"Very well, Max. We have heard news that your protector has purchased a large ranch house here in the desert. If he would be accommodating we were hoping to gather there."

Max turned to the back of the Café where Kal was munching on a lemon seeming to ignore the on goings.

"Whatever kid, I'll be back in L.A. all this and next week anyways."

"Okay Larek, we can host this Summit, when would all the leaders be available to contact a host?"

Larek frowned at the strange phrasing but then realized he meant ambassadors.

"The day after tomorrow would be best, allowing time for the hosts to travel here and prepare their bodies."

Max nodded, as did most of the others.

"Very well, I will see you then your... Max and," as if doing a mental check of Brody's memories he added after a seconds pause, "Liz."

Addressed so formally caused Liz to blush, but soon she had joined Maria in her giggling as Larek turned and walked back out the of the Crashdwon leaving them to return to their festivities.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

The Peace Summit proceed with much less difficulty than the first, which doesn't actually say much.

Max and the others had gained the respect of the other leaders, who they discovered where not all monarchies. Only Larek and Antar had retained the monarchy for this long and now with Khivar's dictatorship over, the Summit worked to set up a new democratic form of governing for Antar.

Before giving up the throne official though Max mandated that no one on Earth or any other planet within the Six Star System Alliance was allowed to think, let alone ask What happens now, Max?

The other leaders found this extremely confusing, Max's ever growing family just laughed at him. After that order was official Max abdicated the throne to the new government.

The conditions of the Six Star Alliance was put forth and sighed by all four leaders as well as all eleven that now made up Earth's Royal Court.

Unofficially of course.

Antar's new government official would sign it at the next Summit once elected. An event that would take place a little over a month from now.

The Alliance went into effect immediately, but with the exception of the twenty-two on Earth who knew about the existence of aliens it would remain a secret. Out of those twenty two: Christina, Michael, Maria, Ava, Max, Liz, Isabel, Alex, Kyle, Spencer, Serena, the Evans, the Parkers, the Whitman’s, the Valenti’s, the Royalton’s and Kal, only Kal lived to see a day when the alliance was a well known aspect of every day life, just like aliens.

It would be three generations before this would happen. So it was great-grand children of the Roswellians and others who ushered in an age where communication and having a peace treaty with other life forms was possible. It would be the great-great-great grandchildren who lived in a world where it was no big deal to be talking to someone on a different planet.

Part 77

"AVA!!!"

Ava ran out of the her room colliding with Kyle as Maria peeked her heard around the corner of her new bedroom door. She muffled a laugh as she watched her siblings squabble.

"How am I suppose to get ready for my date with Serena when you leave all your stuff laying around the bathroom! At least Maria has the decency to clean up after herself."

Ava huffed. "Maria cleans up after herself because she's always shuffling between here and Michael and Christina's new apartment. It's not even a real date it's a family dinner and I still don't understand why she couldn't just come with Spencer."

Kyle rolled his eyes, "That's beside the point..." That's as far as Kyle got before Ava stood on her tiptoes getting it his face as she poked his chest.

"Look buddy, it was you and your dad who insisted I live here until the wedding. You're just going to have to deal with me now. You think I like walking into the bathroom and finding your stuff all over the place? NO! But I deal with it. Grow up Kyle."

She spun on her heels stomping back to her room before spinning suddenly and glaring at Kyle.

"I'll be gone before you know it and then you'll miss all my stuff all over the place." She stuck out her tongue and slammed the door behind her.

Kyle was still starring after her with his mouth hanging open as Maria softly closed her door to further hide her and Michael's laughter at the antics of Kyle and Ava.

Kyle looked down at his watch as saw that he now had thirty minutes before he had to pick up Serena. He swore under his breath and ran back to the bathroom.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Downstairs Jim was rolling his eyes as he watched his wife check on the roast beef. He was cutting up more vegetables for the big dinner party.

"I'm gonna miss Ava when she's gone." Amy smiled at Jim's soft, sad tone.

"Honey, I'm sure she'll still be around. I don't really see any of the kids moving away from here unless it's for school, and even then I'm sure they'll be right back as soon as they finish. They've gotten to close in the past six months. Plus, they're just getting back together with their parents. I'd hate to say it Jim, but I think we're gonna be stuck with them for a long time."

Jim smiled as he went back to his vegetables.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

"Michael it's horrible. I mean it's hilarious, but horrible. They are always bickering over the most ridiculous things. If they weren't both deeply in love already I'd think they were doing some sort of weird mating ritual."

Maria failed to notice Michael's smirk as he thought of their own mating ritual of bickering with each other. She was moving around her room rearrange things for the fifth time since she had moved into the new house.

"I would think they would manage to be a little bit more mature. I mean you and Christina never bicker, well you do but it's all fun and games you’re not serious. Those too are completely serious I go to bed at night concerned for what Ava's gonna do to Kyle while he's sleeping or vice versa. I almost feel bad for Spencer and Serena do those two really know what they are getting into with Ava and Kyle."

She stopped and looked at Michael lying out on her bed with his hands behind his head, eyes closed, and a smirk on his face. Maria didn't think he'd ever looked more delicious. She waited until he opened his eyes before she jumped onto him and they started a tickling match.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

At Maria's giggling, Amy glanced up, pausing from frosting the cake. A frown crossed her face, "Relax Amy, they know the rules. Besides, Michael's still scared of you and the newspaper."

She laughed as she went back to the cake. "So tomorrow's the big day. Well one of them anyways. I can't believe Alex and Isabel are getting married so soon. It's only been two months since life has seem to go back to normal."

Jim shrugged his shoulders as he continued the chopping. "I know all the kids will be relieved. Too think they were afraid of the Christmas Nazi, the Wedding Nazi is ten times worse."

Amy gave him a reprimanding look, "Well, every girls wants her wedding to be perfect."

Jim interrupted her, "Kyle says she was just as bad with Liz and Max on the road. And don't tell me you've forgotten how she was during our second ceremony a month ago, Mrs. Valenti."

Amy smiled wide, "Not at all Mr. Valenti. It was worth it though. I'd deal with ten Wedding Nazi's if it meant being with you and reunited with the kids. Being safe and together is worth putting up with all the perfectionists in the world, even Isabel."

Jim laughed as he wrapped his arms around Amy from behind kissing her neck, "Most definitely."

"DAD!!!" There are rules remember. Rules for everyone not just Maria, Ava, and me!!!" He closed his eyes and walked towards the back door as his dad and Amy disentangled themselves.

"I'm going to get Serena. Christina and Spencer should be here soon." The back door slammed as he left. Jim and Amy listen as Kyle started the car.

Then they looked at each other, "How soon is soon?"

Jim looked at Amy, "Ava's in the shower now."

"Maira is entertaining Michael."

"The food has fifteen more minutes before..." Jim's growl cut her off and she was off running Jim chasing her a second later.

Part 78

It was during dessert that the phone rang at the DeLuca-Valenti house, Maria got up to answer it. A minute later their was screaming from the hall. Amy and Jim paled, Kyle and Spencer stood up with their arms raised, but Christina, Serena, and Michael just smiled and stood up slowly gathering up the dishes. Noticing the stares of the other four and Maria was still screeching in the hallway Christina decided to fill them in,

"Liz is in labor."

That sent everyone running around cleaning, making sure the oven was off, and getting coats. Jim drove Amy, Kyle, and Ava over in his SUV, Serena and Spencer took their car while Christina drove Michael and Maria in her car.

When they got to the waiting room they saw the Evans and the Parkers immediately. Then they saw Alex sitting in a chair rubbing his temples. Looking around they saw the reason why. Isabel was at the nurse station demanding answers about her sister-in-law and brother. As they walked by the station Michael and Kyle grabbed Isabel by the arms, Christina and Maria flashed smiles to the nurses in apology. They nodded in understanding.

Michael and Kyle gently pushed Isabel onto the chair next to Alex who immediately put an arm around Isabel. Not so surprising, it was plenty to clam her down.

Michael settled in next to Isabel and Maria sat on his lap. Jim and Amy went to talk to the Evans and Parkers, just as the Whitman’s came in through the doors.

Serena, Spencer, Ava, and Kyle settled in across from Michael, Maria, Isabel, and Alex. Christina stood between them pacing back and forth for a few minutes before settling on the other side of Michael. She glanced at Serena who nodded at the question in her eyes.

"Isabel."

Isabel looked up at Serena who whispered her name. "They're fine. I mean Liz is in pain and Max is worried sick, but they're fine."

Christina added, "The doctors don't think anything is unusual either and nothing is going wrong."

Isabel nodded her head, "Thanks." Then she settled down onto Alex's shoulder.

Maria smiled as she placed her own head on Michaels chest cuddling with him on the extremely uncomfortable chairs.

The others also settled in for a long wait. Quiet for the most part, whispering occasionally, and getting up only to find some snacks. It wasn't a long wait as it turned out. It was only six hours later the baby boy was presented to the rest of his family.

An exhausted Max Evans appeared holding the small bundle in his arms. Immediately everyone was standing the sleepiness gone.

"Everyone I'd like you to meet Adam Jeffery Evans."

At the soft cough Max looked up only to find Brody Davis again standing among the small cluster of friends. Friends who immediately stood in front of Max and his child, Michael and Christina directly in front of Brody.

Brody smiled and gave a small nod of his head. "General, I was hopping to bring news to the others about the child of former King Max."

"Larek." It was the only word Michael could find after such a shock. To find the alien leader in front of them yet again.

"Obviously."

Christina rolled her eyes at Michael and shoved him a bit. "Hi, Larek. It's a boy. A healthy beautiful boy." She paused briefly mentally checking Max if it was okay to tell Larek his name. "Adam Jeffery Evans is a perfect combination of his mother and father."

Larek smiled, "And will no doubt be loved endlessly. Thank you Christina."

He nodded his head towards Michael, "General." Michael bowed his head in return. Larek caught Max's eye across the distance separating them by the rest of the overprotective group.

"Max, may safety and happiness be yours." Then he spun around and left. It would be a short while before they saw Larek again, not until the birth of the next child actually, that he would return for another update.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
At one in the morning the parents sent all the kids home.

Tomorrow was a big day after all and they needed to be well rested in order for it to go off without any problems. At two, the Parkers and Valenti's sent the Evans and Whitman’s home to rest too.

Behind the closed doors of the room Liz rested with Adam in her arms as Max sat in the chair watching them closely. Liz looked up a whispered, "Tomorrow is Alex and Iz's wedding."

Max nodded his head still in awe at the sight of his beautiful Liz holding their child. "Max, I don't want to be stuck here for the wedding."

Max smiled and finally leaned forwards resting his hand on Liz's lower abdomen. Liz smiled as the tingles traveled through her body. "No, handprint Max."

He nodded as he pulled away, "Almost good as new. Doctors should let you go in the morning if you add in a bit of that pout. If not, I'm sure we can get Ava to persuade them a little bit. And if that doesn't work will send the Wedding Nazi after them."

Liz chuckled, "Max be nice to you sister. She made our wedding perfect, and Amy and Jim had that beautiful ceremony. She deserves the very best too."

"She wouldn't settle for anything less anyways. Get some sleep Liz, tomorrow's a big day." Max took Adam from her arms and put him back in the bassinet before climbing into the small bed with Liz and closing his eyes.

"I love you."

Liz smiled and turned around. "I love you." Then she settled herself into his chest, her cheek up against his heart and listened to its steady beat as she fell asleep feeling loved.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

The next day flew by despite everyone's exhaustion.

Isabel was the most beautiful bride Alex had ever seen.

Maria and Ava looked stunning in their royal purple bridesmaid dresses. Michael and Kyle didn't look half bad either in their tuxes.

Mr. Evans walked Isabel down the isle and by the time Isabel was next to Alex all the moms were crying like babies. While the actual baby, slept peacefully in Liz's arms. Max sitting next to her with one arm around her. It took the combined effort of Ava, Christina, and Serena to convince the doctors that both Liz and the baby were perfectly healthy and it would be fine to release them. Isabel was parking her car at the hospital as Max and Liz walked out the door with Adam.

The ceremony was short, but memorable as their thoughtful vows were said and the white gold wedding bans exchanged. At the reception afterwards their was dancing and laughing, delicious food and delectable cake. When it came time to throw the bouquet Ava, Maria, and Serena were all in the front Christina behind them chuckling and using her powers lightly to keep all the other woman further back.

Michael and Kyle were sitting at the table whispering. Spencer watching them closely. "It's too far."

"No it isn't Michael, come on man."

"I'll try but I make no promises."

"That's all I'm saying."

Isabel turned her back and threw her flowers. Maria yelled, Serena jumped higher, but the bouquet landed in Ava's outstretched arms.

Kyle and Michael high fived and smiled at each other as Michael blew at his fingertips. "No problem." When they sat back down they saw Spencer staring at them challenging.

Kyle rushed to defend their actions, "Hey, Spence come on. I mean you're already engaged to her so it's no big deal right."

Michael jumped on, "I didn't even really use that much power anyways." The challenging looked changed to amusement at their concern and then outright laughter as he remembered the fear on their faces when Maria and Serena rushed to the front.

When it came time for Max to toss the garter only the dirty looks from Serena and Maria had Kyle and Michael slowly climbing to their feet.

In reality, it landed in Kyle's relunctantly outstretched hand, but at the elbowing of Serena, Ava had everyone seeing Spencer shove Kyle over and catch it at the last minute. Serena after all just liked making Kyle nervous.

Through their connection the others realized the gentle mind-warp Ava was performing. Some laughed, Kyle sighing in relief tossed it to Spencer.

Michael smirked, "I think it's a sign."

Spencer laughed, "A sign that Ava and me should get married. Okay."

Maria pulled Michael away to dance with her as Serena slid up under Kyle's arm. "Maybe it's a sign to get married sooner rather than later."

Ava chuckled, "I don't think it gets any sooner than June. What with the Wedding Nazi off on her honeymoon for a month."

"Yeah, we'll need time to plan it out."

Serena smiled evilly, "Maybe, it's a sign then that mom and dad should meet her then."

"Stop pushing it Rena. They'll meet Ava."

"When would that be, son?"

Spencer spun around to find his mom and dad smiling at him. He saw his sister fly by finally to hug first their dad and then their mom.

He scratch his eyebrow, "Ah, mom, dad, this is Ava my fiancée."

Serena's laughter could be heard throughout the ballroom, until Spencer pulled Kyle forward,

"And this is Kyle Valenti, Serena's boyfriend."

Part 79

As it turned out the Wedding Nazi did not approve of Spencer withholding vital information from his parents. Like the fact that he was getting married so she cornered Christina until the Royalton's home phone number was given up, during which Michael sat on the couch laughing as Christina tried to outsmart Isabel. Then Isabel called them and charmed them into attended her wedding and sticking around afterwards for a bit to get to know Roswell and their soon to be daughter in law.

Julie and Mark Royalton had come down to Roswell almost directly after that.

As it turns out they were pretty well off. Almost as much as Kal. They ended up in early retirement and instead of going to Florida as they originally planed with some of their friends they ended up buying a Ranch house near Kal's due to the relocating of their children. Between them and Kal the Pod Chamber ended up on their property. Safe for generations.

Kal also took the liberty to back an organization who had legal rights to the Quarry. So as long as they kept the Granolith there it was safe too.

The Royalton’s got along great with the other parents. They made it a habit to gather every Friday night for a barbecue and drinks. Most afternoons would also find the moms at the Crashdown where Diane and Julie would exchange stories about their kids growing up. Amy, Nancy, and Claire just sat amazed at how similar the stories where. The only difference, Spencer and Serena actually told their parents they were aliens when they were in their early teens. While the dads waited until Sunday for their get together on the golf course, yet they refrained from falling into such things like gossip. Kal joined them when he was in town.

Alex and Isabel returned from their honeymoon glowing. It was two weeks later that the others found out it was because she was pregnant. Even life-long friend Alex winced at the scream of joy Maria let out.

It was the end of May when they going to Kal's for a small dinner party. Small meaning everyone in Roswell who knew about aliens. Max and Liz where driving Alex and Isabel for convenience. They had less than two miles till Kal's front gate when the cramps hit Isabel.

Immediately, Max pulled over and got in the back, Liz took over driving. The energy it took to keep the baby from miscarrying was more than healing the five cancer kids all those years ago. And it still wasn't enough. When they got to Kal's he was already in the driveway yelling about needing the healing stones.

Luckily, Kyle was there and he just looked around trying to find out who had the stones.

"There at our apartment." Kyle nodded as he grabbed Christina's arm and they disappeared. The three minutes and twenty-seven seconds it took them to get back were the longest of everyone’s lives.

Kyle got back and everyone took their positions. The parents watched in awe and horror at how quickly they came together for the ceremony. Something that had obviously been done more than once.

Restoring Isabel's balance was all it took for the baby girl to settle and nine months later, Lily Kaleigh Whitman was born to very grateful and proud parents and bragging godparents of Ava and Kal.

Kal who actually shed tears at his namesake.

The craziness of late May had Ava and Spencer pushing back the wedding to late June.

Ava looked radiant in her white dress beaded so it sparkled in the sunlight.

This time it was Liz and Serena who looked stunning in their baby blue dresses that stopped at their knees with flowing material. Alex and Michael looked quite impressive too with their white slacks and blue button down shirts.

Jim had the honor of walking Ava down the isle and it came to nobody's surprise that he was in tears by the time he sat down. Once again most of the moms were in tears too, and this time baby Adam was fidgeting from boredom and wanting his mommy. Max did his best to keep him settled with Maria's help.

Both the ceremony and the party afterwards were held in the Valenti's backyard since it was such a small gathering of people.

Dinner had been eaten and most of the traditional dances where over with now. Maria and Michael sat at their table watching their friends dance or try to avoid the Wedding Nazi. It was on the fifth time Isabel tried to fix Ava's dress that Maria lost her struggle and gave into hysterical laughter. Michael besides her chuckled. Talking before thinking,

"I'm telling you Ria, when we get married we're eloping."

He laughed at Isabel turned on Spencer, noticing Maria's silence he shifted towards her to find her starring at him,

"What, please tell me you don't want to deal with the Wedding Nazi on your big day. Isabel's crazy perfectionism will have you screaming in five minutes. Everyone else at least has a chance to hide from her, but the bride is stuck dealing with her the whole day and weeks before in order to plan the perfect wedding."

Maria still stared, at this point Michael was concerned, "Ria what's wrong."

Slowly, Maria shook her head, "What?"

"Did you hear what I said?"

Maria nodded briefly then shook her head no, "You, ah, you lost me."

Michael frowned his brown gaze showing concern, "When?"

"After, 'when we get married' then I just kinda zoned out."

For the first time Michael seemed to realize what he had been saying. He was shocked himself, but the panic and fear him and Kyle had exhibited the last two times wedding was brought up was nowhere to be seen on his features.

"You do want to marry me. Don't you."

Michael grew more nervous as Maria returned to staring at him, after a few minutes she responded,

"Spaceboy was that a proposal?"

His hand went up to run through his hair and then he scratched his eyebrow. Maria watched his features carefully in tune with his vibes, knowing he couldn't lie to her.

"Yes."

He answered with a half shrug and a self-conscious smile that had Maria falling in love with him all over again.

Tears filled her sparkling green eyes as she smiled the brightest smile Michael had ever seen on her. His own smile grew as she threw herself into his arms and they got lost in their passion.

It was Amy who walked by ten minutes later and coughed to separate the pair who were more or less a mess on entangled limbs.

"Mom!!!"

Amy's disapproving look turned curious in a second.

"We're getting married!"

Then the two DeLuca women were screaming and hugging and jumping and crying and laughing all at once. Everyone turned to stare at them. Then they looked to Michael for an answer since Maria and Amy didn't look like they were going to settle down anytime soon.

"I, ah, I asked Maria, to ah, marry me."

Liz and Isabel immediately joined Amy and Maria. Alex, Spencer, Jim, and Max all smirked at Michael giving him looks that scream 'I told you so.' Kyle glared at him betrayed, but soon he too grinned happy for his sister and friend. Serena and Ava were also looking at Michael laughing at his previous behavior about marriage.

Christina had reacted much like Maria did and launched herself at her older brother for a hug.

"Congratulations General."

"Thanks Princess."

Still in the hug Christina whispered in Michael's ear, "Mom and Dad would have loved her. They would have been so proud of all you've accomplished here. They really loved us something fierce."

Michael held her tighter as tears came to his eyes. When he finally set her down they stared at each other lost in a past lifetime, "Thank you."

Christina smiled, "It's the truth." After a minute the emotions were too much and both glanced around looking for a savior before Christina finally spoke, "So did you set a date?"

Part 80

As it would turn out, running off to elope without Isabel's knowledge was more tiresome then dealing with the Wedding Nazi. They managed to escape while Isabel was babysitting Adam and stuck at home seven months pregnant.

Michael and Maria ditched classes. Kal was generous enough to be paying their way through college. All of them.

Max, Liz, Alex, and Kyle were all at school when Michael and Maria ran off. Serena and Ava were on a shopping trip. Spencer was helping out his dad with something.

They woke up that morning Michael leaning over Maria, "I have to talk to you." She smiled still groggy with sleep "Ditto."

"You go first."

"No, you can go first it looks like you've been waiting for me to wake up a while."

"No, Maria just tell me."

She sat up frustrated, "Michael you tell me."

After twenty minutes the flirtatious bickering had turned to down right arguing. Until they were both standing and glaring at each other. Then they spoke at the same time.

"Let's get married. Today.

"I'm pregnant."

So they ran off to Las Vegas and eloped. They called on the way home and when they got back to the Valenti's there was a party for them. Isabel glared at them for an hour. Christina gave Michael the silent treatment for two hours.

But the giddiness of Maria and Michael's happiness was contagious. And when Amy finally yelled, "YOU"RE WHAT!!!"

Both Christina and Isabel had dropped their anger at not being at the ceremony and congratulated the happy couple properly.

Turns out Ava was pregnant too, had been since August. They just hadn't told anyone yet.

It was December, when Lily Whitman was born, four months later Billy and Bethany Royalton joined her. Two months after that and lots of yelling between the Guerins, the triplets entered the world of hybrids. A girl and two boys, Raeanne, Ryan and Riley joined the ever-expanding family.

Two years later when Kyle and Serena announced their engagement the family had grown ever more. Max and Liz had twins a boy, David and girl, Rebecca, while Alex and Isabel had the first and last boy, Charlie. Maria was pregnant with the fifth Guerin baby, Jacob having been born the year before.

Whether it was their advanced Antarian genes or just their determination by the time Kyle and Serena announced she was pregnant, two months after the wedding. All of them had finished college.

The sneaky days of Serena and Spencer when they were hunting Skins was put to good use as they joined with Alex and formed their own Security Company.

Nobody, but Kyle was all that surprised when he ended up in a deputy uniform.

Max studied business at school and it wasn't long before the Crashdown Café became a chain of restaurants throughout the southwest.

Liz's dreams had already come true, marrying Max and having a family. But it was rounded off when she finished top of her class in the molecular biology department. When it came down to finding a job though, she decided to teach biology at West Roswell, to be closer and more available to her family.

Isabel and Ava started a small fashion boutique. Their big break came on the heels of Maria DeLuca's hit single reaching number one on the charts and staying there for eight weeks in a row. Everyone wanted the clothes the pop star was wearing. The singing sensation Maria DeLuca had a short but fulfilling career before Maria went on to open an art gallery/bar in Roswell: Stopping Time.

Believe it or not, it was Michael who became a stay at home dad, being able to devote time to painting during nap times of his own children and whichever nieces or nephews he was babysitting. He was the most well known artist featured at Stopping Time, and the reason it was opened in the first place. The name was his idea well, Maria took all the credit of course, but it was he who explained to her that capturing a moment of life on canvas or any other medium was a power greater than anything else all the aliens he knew had. It was literally stopping time for that memory, that moment, holding it with all its detail forever.

Christina had finished college long before they had even met her. She managed to drift between all of them helping them out when needed and when Maria went on tour Christina went with her for protection and company. It was there that Christina fell in love with Maria's drummer. A fact Michael still didn't like.

By the time Kyle and Serena's oldest child and only daughter, Avis, went off to college in New York City, their youngest and last child of four had turned two. Max and Liz had another girl, after the twins rounding off their family to a solid six themselves included. Alex and Isabel stopped at three kids while the twins laughter was enough for Spencer and Ava.

They had starting taking bets on the fifth child, how many more Michael and Maria would have before Amy had a heart attack from of all the grandkids. Lucky for Amy, and Kyle who won the bet, the Guerin's felt complete at seven kids. Christina and Austin ended up at City Hall somewhere between all the babies and ended up with five kids of their own three boys and two girls.

When Avis returned from college in New York, she had a fiancée with her. A fiancée who had Max's amber eyes and big ears. His short blonde hair identical to the color of Ava's.

As it turns out Zan wasn't completely human after all. It wasn't much but the flashes he picked up from time to time loaded with emotions made it harder for him not to question his origins like Max, Isabel, and Michael had grown up doing. His full name was Alexander, but he still went by Zan.

It was hard to say who was it more shock. Kyle because his little girl was engaged, to an Evans no less, or Max who after twenty-six years was seeing his son again.

When Kal came into town for the engagement party he found it hysterical and laughed for two hours straight.

It was the first of many engagement parties. By far the best ones were for the Guerin girls where Michael would sulk in a corner brooding until Maria dragged him away and threaten to have more children, beautiful little girls he'd have to give up if he kept with the pouting. They others didn't really believe it was a threat for Michael though, he would always get a glint in his eye at the idea of Maria carry another child of his.

With Zan, they didn't have to worry too much about explaining the secret. He was after all one of them. Nobody was too surprised when Max and Liz's oldest son, Adam fell in love with a girl and saved her life one day with his powers. It must have been in the genes.

They worried about telling the truth to others, but by the third engagement Christina and Serena had devised a system to determine their trustworthiness. A secret system so Michael, Spencer, and Max wouldn't abuse it. Only three times, with two horrible boyfriends and one eccentric girlfriend, did they have to warn the kids off and have Ava do some work to alter the memories.

The small group of aliens that started out as three, with a pact to never let anyone in. To never tell their secret was now at a growing sixty-four members. A number that would continue to grow as the Roswellian's kids had children of their own.

Author’s Note: So I was able to stop the end of the world for our favorite Roswellians, but unfortunately the end of this story is upon us. I know I didn’t give a warning, but I hope this isn’t too shocking for all of you and you’ve seen the end approaching in the last few parts.

I just wanted to thank all of you who have taken the time to read this fiction. As I’ve mention before it’s my first one and all your support in feedback or just seeing that people have viewed it has been really encouraging and has made this a great experience. So I thank you for taking this adventure with me and I hope to hear from you again in other stories.

Without further ado…

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

The Epilogue

It would be generations later, at the original Crash site that Kal would gather with his charges. After so long they were more than that though.

King Zan, his sister, Vilandra, Queen Ava, Warriors Saeran and Sarafina, General Rath, and Princess Raeanne had long ago died on a distant planet.

Not nearly as long but it was still quite some time since Max, Isabel, Michael, Ava, Spencer, Serena and Christina, along with the humans they loved so deeply lived.

As a matter of fact it had probably been some forty years since their last living child died of old age.

Yet Kal still didn't look a day over fifty. Despite the fact that when the Roswellians met him he was well over that.

The children who gathered at his feet didn't know Kal Langley. He had died long ago too. All they knew of was Uncle Kal, their protector. Willing and loving protector at that.

Kal sucked on a lemon as the memories washed over him.

All it took was a look at the numerous kids running around or gathered by his feet waiting.

Swirls of energy reminiscent of a long ago hurricane ran rampant.

Only challenged by the hot-tempered, stubborn ones that took after a stonewall.

The glare of an ice queen could be found scatter throughout them.

Especially, towards the antics so familiar of a former Buddhist.

The witty, spunk of some with bright blue eyes was only off set by the self-conscious ones with a flair for computers and music.

Shyness by those that liked hiding behind the tree was overcome by others with inquiring lists.

Scuffling siblings were everywhere with brown gazes that more often then not flickered with gold.

There were a hundred other small details Kal could catalogue. But a hundred more would pop up. Seemingly obvious things like the power to dream-walk or a lamp exploding over the sounds of arguments, to such habits as tucking loose hair behind an ear or scratching the back of a neck. As much of the obvious and physical traits there were just as many less obvious things such as the sound of a former New Yorker snorting when giggling became too much or the silent treatments given so close to how the Princess would ignore her brother, the General.

Don't even get Kal started on the Tabasco.

His trip down memory lane was interrupted by a tug on his t-shirt.

"Uncle Kal!"

The tone was impatient and demanding, he looked down to find bright green eyes and dark unmanageable hair. Kal should have known it was a Guerin descendant, he wondered what this boy gotten into now.

"Yes, Christopher?"

"Tell us the story!"

The kids who had gathered nodded encouragingly, while Kal faked ignorance.

"What story would that be Chris?"

Christopher rolled his eyes and managed to glare all at once.

"You know which one I mean Uncle Kal..." he paused a beat before he continued.

"The story about the boy who loved a girl and together with their friends and family they saved the world."

Kal smiled and nodded slowly.

"Oh, that story! Alright." Kal was after all a famous storyteller, even if these kids didn't know about his famous days in Hollywood.

"It was a long time ago, but not too far from here that a random fight would lead a stray bullet into the stomach of the beautiful brown haired waitress.

An instant that would have ended her life, if not for the dark haired boy watching in the booth.

A boy who loved that girl from the moment he saw her.

In that instant he shot out of his seat and ran to her side. Placing his hand on the wound, he not only changed her life when he saved her. He changed the world by saving it..."
