"Have fun tonight. But don't do anything I wouldn't do." Said Serena walking past Max and pinching his butt.

Max jumped and turned to watch her head down the hall with a swing of her hips.

"She likes you. She is only playful like that with people she sees as friends." Said Liz
"Serena is a strange one." Said Max
"Yeah she is."
"You look beautiful."
"Thank you."
"Ready to go?"
"Yeah. So where are we going?"
"It's a surprise."
"Will I like this surprise?"
"Liz don't you trust me?"
"I do. But I am a little nervous."
"You are scared that you are going to be hounded by reporters because of what bus going on with Zan."
"A little."
"Don't worry what I have planned no reporters will get near you."
"How are you going to pull that off?"
"Just trust me."

Liz smiled and grabbed her purse and keys. Max then lead her down to his jeep and helped her in. He then headed down the road. Liz watched as he drove to an Italian restaurant two miles from their apartment building.

"Mario's?"
"You like Italian right?"
"Yes. I have been wanting to come here. But I haven't been able to get in."
"Well the owner is an old friend of my mom's. This is one place that we will be left alone to enjoy our evening together."
"So is this the surprise?"
"Part of it. I have much more in mind for you Miss Parker."

Max pulled up in front of the door that was hidden from view behind a large bush. The valet opened the doors for them and helped Liz from the car. Max walked around the car and offered his arm to her. They walked in and were greeted by a man in his mid fifties with a thick Italian accent.

"Max, my you are no longer a little bambino! And who is this lovely woman on your arm!"
"Mario, this is Liz Parker. My date for the evening. Is our table ready?"
"But of course! This way."

Liz and Max followed Mario to a table in a corner that was shielded from everyone. As they walked through the restaurant Liz noticed that Tom Hanks was there with his son Colin. She had always wanted to work with the younger Hanks. But didn't think that could happen.

"Tom, comes here a lot. Mostly with his wife." Said Max
"I met Colin once right before I took my break to finish high school. He is someone I would like to work with some day." Said Liz
"It might happen."

Once they were seated Max ordered them a bottle of alcohol free wine. Liz looked over the menu.

"So what are you thinking of getting Liz?" Asked Max
"It all looks so good."
"Yes, may I make a surjection?"
"Yes please."
"Well I think you might like the grilled shrimp fettuccine alfrado with broccoli cutless. It also comes with salad which I recommend the house dressing. We will also have a bread basket with both butter and olive oil."
"That sounds wonderful."
"I'm going to have the veal parmesan it comes with grilled zucchini."
"Will you let me have a taste of yours?"
"Yes."

A waitress came over and took their order. Max and Liz enjoying each others company and talking. Their salads and the bread arrived Liz had asked for her dressing on the side so she poured a little over it and took a bite.

"Max this dressing is amazing! It's like a zesty, citrus Italian."
"Yeah it's different but very good. Mario made it himself."
"I really like it."

They spent the rest of the meal talking and sharing their meals. After dinner Max drove Liz to a hill top and they watched the sunset. Liz couldn't remember the last time she had such a good time on a date. The night ended with Max kissing Liz goodnight at her door.

Part 28 One week later

Liz woke to her phone ringing. She answered without evetn looking at it.

"Hello?"
"ELIZABETH LYNN PARKER! WHY AM I FINDING OUT FROM PEOPLE MAGAZINE THAT YOU HAVE A BOYFRIEND!"

Liz winced at her mothers voice.

"Mom what are you talking about?" Asked Liz now fully awake.
"I ran to the store this morning to get a couple of things, and there I was in the check out line waiting behind Mrs. Nelson. I glance at the magazine rack and there on the cover is a photo of my daughter kissing some guy on the beach. The headline over the picture was something like 'Stone Crossing' star's new love! Care to explain this to me?"
"Mom, his name is Max. He lives across the hall and we met a couple months ago. We just started to date. So there is really not much to tell."
"How old is he? What does he do?"
"He is twenty two and in law school at USC."
"Liz, are you sure that you can trust this guy?"
"Mom, we have gone on one official date."
"He is the young man that went with you that movie premiere. That movie that you told your father and me not to see."
"Mom, you wouldn't like it. It's a horror movie. You freaked out watching Scream."
"OK. Honey promise me you will take things slow."
"I will."
"Ok promise me one thing. Well it's two things. One I will not find out you are getting married by watching TV or reading about it, and two if it because serious that I will get to meet him before you marry him."
"Deal. Love you mom."
"Love you too honey."

Liz hung up went to the bathroom, then grabbed her keys and IPod and headed out for a run on the beach.

Max stepped out of his bathroom to his phone ringing.

"Hello?"
"Max Evans?"
"Yes."
"I am calling from St. Peter's hospital. Ava Stevens has gone into labor and asked that we call you."
"Yeah, she is a friend. I can be there in fifteen minutes."
"That's fine."

Max hung up dressed grabbed his keys and ran down to his car. He called Liz and left her a message on her voicemail. He knew that this was one of the mornings she would go for a run when she wasn't working. He got to the hospital and was taken to Ava's room. He walked in and went right to her side.

"You doing ok?" Asked Max
"As ok as I can be."
"It's still early isn't it?"
"Yeah but she will be ok."
"Are they sure?"
"Yeah Max. This ain't your kid."
"No but I don't want you to have to deal with a sick baby either."
"You're sweet. Elizabeth Parker is luck to have you."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah, Max thanks for coming."
"What are friends for?"

Three hours later Ava held her daughter in her arms. From what Max could tell the only thing the baby had gotten from Zan was her eyes.

"So you have a name for her?"
"Yeah. Christina, I always liked that name."
"I like it."
"Thanks for helping me."
"You don't have to thank me."
"Not many would do what you did."
"Well I am not like most people."
"That's for sure. Not why don't you go see that girlfriend of yours."
"Ok. Don't forget to call if you need anything."
"I will."

Max gave Ava a hug and headed home.

Zan grunted as he pounded into Tess again and again. It had been a week since she had come over. A week since he had been forced to stay at his house. He wanted to party. But now because of those lying bitch sluts he was fired from his job. Hell he knew the show couldn't last long now. He was the only star on that show. No one else had any talent. Wow what a way to wake up with your mom calling you. So Liz promise her mom that she can meet Max if things get serious between Max and Liz. Love how Liz knew how to calm her mom down. So glad the hospital called Max and let him know Ava was having her baby. Glad Max was there for Ava.

Part 29

Max walked up the stairs to his apartment and found a note taped to his door.

~Come Over~

It wasn't signed but he knew who it was from. He pulled it off and shoved it in his pocket. He then knocked on Liz's door. She opened it and handed him a magazine.

"The cover of People?" Asked Max
"Yeah the article is an eye opener."
"Really? Should I read it?"
"Yeah."

Max sat down on Liz's couch and turned to the page Liz had marked. Liz curled up in a recliner and pulled a script out after putting on a pair of reading glasses.

"I didn't know you wore reading glasses. You weren't wearing them at dinner last week."
"I don't always wear them. But I have to when studying my script. I don't only have lines to learn but there are some stage directions that I need to learn as well. So some of the print can be a little small."
"I think you look cute in them."
"Read the magazine Max."

Max started to read the magazine and at one point started laughing.

"Elizabeth Parker and her new love Maxwell Evans, spend most evening on the beach and going to dinner. It is believed that they are planing to marry very soon." Read Max
"Told you that it was an eye opener. Oh and by the way my mother wants to meet you before we actually become engaged."
"Liz, don't take this the wrong way. But I don't think we are ready for that step."
"Max if you were to ask me right now I would say no. Only because we don't know each other well enough."

Liz got up from her chair placed both the script and her glasses on the table and went over to him and kissed him.

"Have I told you how beautiful you are?" Asked Max
"Every day. But I am not going to sleep with you. We had one real date."
"Well if we count the movie premiere it's two."
"That doesn't count."
"So how many dates will it take to let me make love to you?"
"I don't know. But I will let you know. But it won't be any time real soon."

Just then Max's phone rang.

"Hello?"
"Maxwell Philip Evans are you getting married without telling me?"
"Mom?"
"Don't mom me young man!"
"No mom. Liz and I went on one date. Yes we kissed on the beach last week. But that is all it was."
"Bring her to dinner on Sunday. I want to meet her."
"Mom! Come on we just started to date. It's to early for her to meet my parents."
"Maxwell wining didn't get you anything as a child. It will get you nothing now! So unless she has a good reason not to be there you are bringing her to dinner."
"Yes mom."
"Love you honey. See you Sunday."
"Love you too mom."

Max hung up and looked at Liz.

"What is going on?" Asked Liz
"Well uh. My mom saw the magazine and now you are required to join me at my parents for a dinner on Sunday."
"Great. This is fast."
"That is what I told her."
"So uh why do I have to go to dinner?"
"My mom wants to meet you."
"I'll go and I will be good. But I am not happy about this."
"Thank you. How about I take you on a real date on Saturday?"
"I like that."

Max kissed Liz and pulled her into his arms. Liz snuggled close to him. She had no idea where these feelings were coming from. She had never felt this way before. It scared her a little but it also excited her.

Alex smiled across the table at Isabel. He didn't know how he got so lucky to have this beauty walk into his life.

"So Alex did you know Liz before the show?" Asked Isabel
"Not really. I had seen her around at different things at the Disney studios as a kid. We met once or twice but didn't really know her. So has Max had a crush on Liz for a long time?"
"Ever since he saw her in a Frosted Flakes commercial."
"She was like six!"
"He was eight."
"Let's see when I was eight I didn't like girls."
"Max has never been normal."
"What's so great about normal?"
"Good point."
"Isabel, has anyone told you how beautiful you are?"
"Yes. But I like when you say it."

Alex leaned over the table and gave her a kiss.

Part 30

Liz just finished putting her make up on when there was a knock on her door. She headed for the door and smiled at Max who stood there holding a dozen white roses.

"Hi Max come in."
"These are for you."
"Thank you. Let me put them in some water and we can go."
"Sure. By the way you look beautiful."
"Thank you. You don't look so bad yourself."

Liz pulled a vase out of a cubboard in the kitchen filled it with water and placed the flowers in it. Then she picked up her purse and headed down to Max's car.

"So do I get to know where we are going this time?"
"Sure I know from interviews that you like Mexican. I know this little out of the way place that we won't be bothered."
"Sounds wonderful."
"Liz?"
"Are you sure you don't mind coming to dinner at my parents tomorrow?"
"No. I know it's a bit early but, soon I won't have as much time on my hands."
"That is true. You will still make time to spend with me right?"
"That is one thing you will never have to worry about."

Max pulled up in front of the restaurant and the two of them headed in. They were lead to a table in a corner in the back. The table had two candles lit. They were seated and picked up the menus. Max ordered them both ice tea with lemon to have with their dinner.

"Have you been here before?" Asked Liz
"Yes more than once. What about you?"
"No. But it's nice."
"It is."
"I think I am going to go with the stake fajitas with Spanish rice and extra grilled peppers and onions."
"Good choice. I am going to have the chicken nacho salad with pinto beans."

Max and Liz placed their order and talked until their food arrived. Then just like on their first date they shared with each other. After dinner Max took Liz down to the beach. They walked and enjoyed each others company. Liz, knew that she was starting to fall in love for the first time. It ended just like their first one with Max kissing her goodnight at the door. Liz, went into her apartment knowing that in such a short time it was becoming harder to say good night to Max.
