Rumors of Reincarnation (CC, Khivar/Mature) Pt.81 3/02/09

Welcome readers.
I’m sorely behind on my writing. I’ve got family in the hospital, so I didn’t get one thing done this weekend! Good thing I had this part sketched out already!
Bye, Bye Blackbird by Fletcher Henderson and Dixon 1926
81 - Exodus
Pack up all my cares and woes
Here I go, singing low
Bye, bye Blackbird
Where somebody waits for me
Sugar’s sweet
So is she
Blackbird, bye-bye
No one here can love and understand me
Oh, what hard-luck stories they all hand me
Make my bed and light the light
I’ll arrive late tonight
Blackbird, bye-bye
Khivar has been informed that ships left Cerule this week. A mass exodus. With no word of where they are going or when they will be back.
It was reported that ships also secretly left Antar under cloak of darkness and joined the skulking flotilla to who-knows-where.
‘Good riddance! If they think they can beat me to Terran, they have another thing coming!’
He does have the wormhole, after all. If Serena could just get it right!
She has been able to move some of the black ice to Terran, and she is increasing the size of the loads. But the bigger they get, the more power it takes, and the system quickly becomes overloaded and abruptly shuts down amid grinding and acrid smoke.
It wouldn’t do to be half-way there and find yourself suddenly deposited in the cold far-reaches of space.
With no life support.
The womyn better get her act together!
+ + + + +
Grumpy Serena is still doing everything in her power to reconfigure the wormhole to allow for the increased loads. She’d like to kick the thing. She’d like to shoot it with a lazer blaster. But she knows it wouldn’t do any good. She’s transferred a number batches to Terran but has no way to verify its condition once it arrives.
The rebels have not been able to contact their counterparts on Terran for months due to a growing quasar in the Zahlagee Galaxy which is emitting electromagnetic energy and disrupting communications. Her calculations all seem to be “off” and she can’t figure out what is wrong. Maybe it’s just impossible to carry such a large payload.
The larger loads also take a lot more black ice to run the darn contraption in the first place and her supply is dwindling fast. With the massive snow falls, there is no way to gather more until the spring thaw. So she’s stopped sending it through and she spends her time going over the equipment looking for a solution to her quandary. She’s rerun the calculations in the quantputer again and again but the equations just do not compute. Serena can’t send people through without the assurance that they will arrive safely. Kavar has been on her ass for weeks about this.
She’s had just about enough of his stern looks of reproof. She’d like to kick HIM too!
At least the transport ships are almost ready for departure. Scout ships had left long ago, in an effort to find closer inhabitable planets but no success has been reported. It’s like looking for a lazer thread in a starburst array! The prospects of finding another inhabitable planet within their time frame are slim to none.
Serena has heard through Joovee that many people have taken a chance on the Cerulean ships that packed up everything they could carry and headed out for the fabled planet “Atlanteez” in the Tomah Galaxy. The rebel underground is abuzz with the news. Queen Kathana insisted she had reputable directions in their sacred scrolls on how to find the elusive dream world that populates their children’s bedtime stories.
Serena can only hope she is right or it means the loss of many more lives. They’ve lost too many already.
Thanks Jan, you sweet thing! I’m afraid it’s going to get worse before it gets better.Janetfl wrote:Hi Paper, OMG well you certainly carried out your promise to make it even more difficult for him.![]()
