I roll my eyes,"Excuses excuses...your poor male ego was badly bruised that day." I chuckle at the memory
"It sure is a nice day today, though. That rain helped settle the dust and the air smells cleaner."
As we aproach the village I see a farmer's young wife carrying her infant and I stop by her,"Young woman,may I carry your child for a moment?"
She seems surprised out of her wits at first,the Queen asking for permission to hold her child but she quickly snaps out of her daze,"Yes,yes of course my lady." and she hands me up the child
Carefully I cradle the baby in my arms and coo at it,"Oh Kivar look...isn't he precious.Such rosy cheeks." I drop a kiss on the baby's forehead

Watching Vilandra with the child in her arms makes my heart constrict. It should be our child she was holding. "Yes, he is a good looking boy." I nod towards the mother and smile a little. Suddenly, it's the most important thing in the universe to me that Vilandra have my child, maybe a son to be the heir to the throne. Although a little girl with her beautiful blonde hair would be nice too.
Perhaps I can convince Lonnie of starting a family soon. It would probably help bring us closer together. I feel like my feelings are confirmed as I watch her coo and cuddle the baby. "You look right holding a babe in your arms, Lon," I say quietly, moving Thunderbolt closer to Red Lips.

"Do you want to hold him my love?" she says and before I can protest, she has shoved the child into my arms. At first, I hold him stiffly, the memories of that horrible night with Krissa flooding over me. But then he grins a baby smile and waves his little fist at me and I relax somewhat, still keeping wary of Thunderbolt's movements and trying to hold the baby where I can look at him. I smile down at him and chuckle as he reaches towards my face. "Hello, little man. You gonna grow big and strong for your parents? Yes, you're going to be a big strong man one day aren't you?" I talk to him. I rock him a little.

"Just two months old your majesty." she replies with a big smile on her face
I turn my attention back to Kivar and the baby and smile at the sight of the two of them,"Hello, little man. You gonna grow big and strong for your parents? Yes, you're going to be a big strong man one day aren't you?"
"You'll be a good father." I say quietly and touch his arm "Here,give him to me.He's starting to get restless away from his mother." I take the baby back from him and hand him carefully down to his mother
"Have a good day." I tell her before urging the mare forward

Reaching out I take his hand in mine,"Don't worry love,no one's a perfect parent at first.We all have to learn as we go along.You'll do your best,I'm sure."

I look deep into her warm brown eyes and then down at our entwined hands. "I swear, I'd be the best father the child could hope for, Lonnie." I kiss her hand passionately. "Shall we try for a family soon?" I glance up at her face and then away, unable to hold her gaze for fear she will reject the idea. Instead, I kiss her hand again, her wrist, moving up her arm slowly. "I think a baby might help bring us closer together and you know it would make me try harder to be a better man for you and our children. Say you will, my beautiful, perfect Lonnie," I plead with her, my voice growing quieter and softer until I whisper the last sentence.
I small pang of regret over how I've treated Nickolas, neglecting him and showing him no love. But I quickly shake that off. That was in the past and it was necessary, for the good of the kingdom and my marriage. This is a new beginning.
