Right now I'm loving writing this so the quicker i write the more updates you will get but i have four other fics to maintain as well.

Maria and Liz had been together for five years and as far as Maria was concerned the next logical step was to move in together. At first Liz had been willing to entertain the idea but when they started discussing where they could live she became difficult. Liz wanted to live in the city, close to her work in an apartment like the one she shared with Malibu Barbie where Maria wanted to stay close to the village and thought that Liz should just move into her perfectly good, affordable apartment.

They had a dozens of fights about it over the past six months but last night had been the worse yet. Liz had gotten upset when she had brought her moving in with her up again and refused to talk about it and Maria has responded in the only way she knew how now. She was so frustrated with Liz that she didn’t know what else to do so she had told her that either they move in together or they end things. She had expected Liz to back down which is what she would normally do and then they would discuss their problem and work it out but Liz did something that totally surprised her. She walked out.

Maria had been so pissed. After 18 years of friendship and five years as lovers she was willing to let Maria end things so easily. Sure she had left a dozen messages over the past week begging her to call but they sounded empty to Maria and she wondered for the first time if Liz and her were really going to make it.

Turning on the lights to her apartment she went to her answering machine expecting to hear another couple of messages from Liz but to her surprise and dismay the machine was flashing empty.

Had Liz finally given up? She wondered. She needed to talk to someone about this so she picked up the phone and dialled the only person she knew would understand.

“How’s my girl?” the voice answered knowing immediately who it was because of caller ID.

Hearing his voice was all it took to break her and she began sobbing uncontrollably. “A-Alex” she sobbed.

“Ria? What’s wrong?” he asked.

“We broke up” she sobbed.

“Oh god” Alex sighed. Alex Whitman loved “his girls” and although it was strange when they had become lovers it hadn’t effected their relationship in fact it had probably strengthened it because now they came to him for things they couldn’t go to each other with.

“What happened?” he asked, he knew this day would come, he could see it coming for the past twelve months.

“We had a fight about her moving in and I gave her a choice and she left” she explained.

“Oh Ria” Alex shook his head, didn’t she know Liz better than that by now. Liz was a stubborn person by nature and she liked to be in control. If you pushed her or she lost control then her defences would immediately come up.

“I know” she sobbed “It was stupid and selfish but I was so sick of never seeing her because of work and I thought if we moved in together we would get all that time together and………” she tried to explain.

“Did she tell you why she didn’t want to?” he asked.

“She didn’t want to move out of the city and I don’t want to move out of the village”

“Your kidding right?” Alex said.

“No, why?” Maria said.

“You wouldn’t comprise and move out of the village yet you gave Liz an ultimatum?” Alex couldn’t believe how stupid his best friend was being.

“I-I” thinking back on it now Maria realised how selfish she was being.

“Maria you need to be the one to fix this” he told her then.

“I know” she whispered. “I’ll call her” she told him.

“No, go over there” Alex encouraged her.

Maria nodded, he was right tomorrow she would go over there and she would beg Liz to forgive her.

“Thank you Alex” she whispered.

Alex sighed “You know I love you both and I just want you to be happy” he told her. Silently he prayed that they could find that happiness together again but he wondered if this was the start. If from now on everything was going to be different.

When he hung up from Maria he immediately made a call to his boss, he had months of leave up his sleeve and he decided now was the time to use it. His girls needed him and he was going to be there for them.

Part 4

Liz looked at the mirror and frowned. Yesterday when she had bought the red halter dress she thought it was perfect but tonight she was re-considering. She had rushed in the door later than she had planned and had been getting ready for the past hour with the help of Isabel.

Isabel had helped her curl her hair and do her makeup and now she was finishing up the last touches to the outfit, a pair of black strappy shoes.

“Are you sure I look okay?” she asked Isabel, she didn’t know Max so she wasn’t sure that he was going to like her outfit. She was positive he would like what was underneath if she got that far. At this rate she would just be happy if he agreed to take her out of the apartment.

“Stop worrying you look perfect” Isabel assured her.

Liz was adding some jewellery and perfume when the doorbell rang.

“I’ll get it” she smiled at Liz “wait a couple of minutes and come down, walk slowly on the stairs you need to make an entrance” she told her.

Liz nodded trying to absorb all the information that she had been given by Isabel, she had dated a few guys in high school but it had been nothing much so she didn’t really know that much about the whole dating scene. Isabel made it seem so easy but the pointers made it seem so hard.

Isabel smiled when she saw how handsome her brother looked. He had on a black suit with a black dress shirt underneath and he was holding a bunch of roses in his hand. She was glad that he had gone to trouble for the date.

“Hey” she leaned in and kissed his cheek.

“Hey” he smiled, for some stupid reason Max was nervous. He guessed it was because he knew Liz was technically a virgin and that she was trusting him to show her the way even though she didn’t know him.

“She’ll be down in a second” Isabel told him.

As per instructions Liz made her way slowly down the stairs a minute later. Her bag was in one hand and a sheer shawl in the other she had almost made it to the bottom step when she looked up and saw Max.

OH MY GOD she thought to herself, he was absolutely gorgeous, no he was more than gorgeous he was a god. She had seen pictures of him over the years but none of them did justice to the hunk of a man that was standing at the bottom of the stairs. The suit he was wearing fit his body snugly and showed off that fact that underneath there would be a killer body. One Liz all of a sudden couldn’t wait to discover.

Max was having similar thoughts to Liz as he watched her descend the stairs. Her body swayed sexily as she walked down the stairs, her tight dress showing off her rounded hips and nice sized breasts. Her legs were long and tanned and the short dress gave him a tantalizing view. Oh my god, I cant believe a beauty like that is a virgin and I’m going to get to take her to bed he thought.

“Liz this is my brother Max, Max this is Liz Parker” Isabel introduced, she was secretly high fiving herself when she saw the looks Liz and Max were giving each other.

Max cleared his throat and tried to pull himself together so he raised his eyes to Liz’s face but that was a big mistake. He literally gasped when he caught sight of her beautiful features, her gorgeous brown hair and a pair of gorgeous brown eyes that he could get lost in.

“Hi” Liz said quietly and shyly.

Max stood staring at Liz with his mouth open and it took Isabel to elbow him in the side to realise that Liz had spoken to him.

“Oh I’m sorry” he shook his head and smiled “Hi Liz it’s a pleasure to meet you” he said.

“You too” Liz smiled back.

He handed her the bunch of roses then and she smiled before taking them and smelling them happily, she had never been given flowers before except from her Dad and Alex and it felt different getting them from a potential lover.

“Thank you they’re absolutely beautiful” she blushed.

“Your welcome” Max smiled happily glad that he had made the right choice with the red roses. He didn’t normally got to the trouble of getting them for his regular dates but decided to go all out for Liz.

“I’ll put them in water for you” Isabel smiled.

Max looked at his watch then “We should go our reservation is for 7.30” he explained.

Liz nodded and turned to allow Max to help her with her shawl. “Thanks” she whispered.

Isabel stood on in shock. She had expected them to like each other, hell she had hoped and planned for it but she wasn’t prepared for what she was seeing. The two of them couldn’t keep their eyes of each other and she had never seen her best friend blush so much.

Liz and Max made their way out of the apartment then Max unconsciously placing his hand on the small of Liz’s back to guide her towards the lift. Liz was surprised when she felt herself shiver at his touch, his big hand felt perfect against her back. All of Max’s nervousness from before was gone now that he had met her, he couldn’t wait to get to know her and then take this goddess to bed and show her the wonderful world of sex.

When the lift opened on the ground floor Max took Liz’s hand and led her towards his sleek black Mercedes.

“Nice” she commented as he helped her in

“thanks” he answered “it was kind of my first splurge after I got my first promotion” he explained when he got in his side of the car.

Liz smiled “Isabel said that you’re a lawyer”

“Yeah” he smiled “What do you do?”

Liz laughed, Isabel certainly hadn’t told him much “I’m also a lawyer” she informed him.

“Oh” Max smiled as he pulled the car onto the road and towards the direction of the restaurant.

“I work for Matheson and Tate” she explained.

“You’re kidding?” Max turned to her then “Your that Elizabeth Parker?”

“Um yeah” Liz said a little worried about what he had heard about her.

“It’s just that I run Evans and Associates now that my father has retired and a lot of our clients use you for their messy divorces” he explained.

“Oh wow Evans and Associates” Liz said impressed. He was right a lot of her clients were big time business men who didn’t want their money hungry wives to get a dime more of their money then they were entitled too and those were the same big times business men that used Evans and Associates.

After graduating from law school and passing the bar Liz had decided to go into Family Law. She was hired by Matheson and Tate early on and now specialised in mainly divorce and most of her clients were rich businessmen and women.

Liz was also more than aware how successful Evans and Associates was though and was impressed that Max ran it now, she wondered why Isabel had never mentioned it.

“Yeah Isabel doesn’t like telling people” he answered her silent question.

“Oh ok I guess that explains why she never mentioned it” she smiled.

“Your not looking for a job are you?” Max asked her then, he was kind of joking but serious at the same time. Having someone with Liz’s experience to handle his clients that had to go elsewhere for her services would be a huge benefit to the firm.

“Because I could really use someone with your expertise and experience at Evans” he told her.

Liz thought about his offer, it was a very tempting one especially since her climb up the Matheson and Tate corporate ladder had grinded to a halt lately.

“Maybe” she replied.

Max smiled “Well at least you didn’t shoot me down right away”

“Why don’t you think about what you want to offer me and I’ll think about it” she told him.

“Will do” he smiled “now enough about business” he told her and she agreed. One thing to be thankful for was that at least with Max specialising in business law they were not opposition.

Maria looked up the apartment building Liz shared with Isabel and sighed. It was quite a fancy building which had a doorman. She could never imagine living somewhere like this but she knew that Liz loved it and that with the hours she kept the added security of the doorman appealed to her.

The doorman let her up since she was on the list and Maria travelled up the lift until she made it the apartment door.

Isabel was getting ready to head to Kyle’s for the night when the door bell rang. Placing her stuff down near the door and answered it.

“Maria” she said surprised. Maria hardly ever came to the apartment since she didn’t like Isabel. Liz thought it was best for everyone if she spent time at Maria’s.

“Hi Isabel, is Liz home?” she asked. Exchanging pleasantries with Isabel was not high on her to do list right now.

“Actually no” Isabel replied. Maria showing up tonight was one of the last things she expected and obviously Liz had the same thoughts since she didn’t leave a contingency plan. Isabel wasn’t sure if Max planned on bringing Liz back here tonight or to his place but she was catering for either option by staying at Kyle’s that night.

“Oh” Maria frowned, it was 7.30 and normally Liz would be home by now.

She noticed the overnight bag near Isabel then “Are you going out?” she asked.

“Yeah” Isabel replied.

“Do you mind if I wait?” she asked hating that she had to be nice to the fake blonde her girlfriend lived with.

“Well no not really but Liz is going to be very late tonight” she told her. It wasn’t a lie after all.

“Oh” Maria frowned “did she mention why?”

“She had a client dinner to attend” Liz attended those boring things sometimes so Maria would buy that.

“Damn” Maria cursed.

“Would you mind if I came in and left her a message?” she asked then.

Isabel stepped aside and let her in, even though Isabel had set Liz up with Max she wasn’t going to interfere with her and Maria in anyway. If Liz chose to get back with Maria then it was completely up to her.

Maria wrote a short note on a piece of paper telling Liz that she dropped by that she missed her and asked her to call, promising that this time she would pick the phone up and placed it on the fridge.

She walked to the door then where Isabel was waiting. “Thanks” she said genuinely she realised that after the way she had treated Isabel that she didn’t have to let her in to leave a message.

Isabel smiled “Your welcome”

They rode in the lift together in silence until they reached the bottom level. The doorman offered to hail Isabel a cab and she happily accepted.

Maria however turned and walked towards the subway, she hated using it but it was the only way to get to Liz’s without paying a $50 cab fair which she couldn’t afford.

“Maria” Isabel called out.

“Can I drop you?” she asked feeling sorry for the blonde girl, the village was nowhere near Kyle’s but she just couldn’t stand the idea of Maria travelling the subway in the dark.

‘Are you going my way?” she asked.

“Yep” Isabel lied with a smile.

“Um ok we can share then” she replied.

“Ok” Isabel agreed, hell there was no use fighting her on it.

Part 5

Max held Liz’s hand tightly in his own as they entered the small fancy restaurant. It was Italian and Isabel had assured him that Liz would love it.

“This place is beautiful, I’ve never even seen it before” Liz commented as the maitradee escorted them to their table. It was a small intimate table in the back and Max already had champagne on ice.

“It’s lovely” Max told her “I thought you would like it” he smiled.

They sat down and perused the menu in silence.

“So tell me about you, Liz” Max asked her eventually. Liz was sipping on the expensive champagne and enjoying every moment of her night so far.

“Well I guess there isn’t an awful lot to tell, I work a lot as you can probably understand and I love to read and write” she explained.

Max nodded and smiled encouraging her to continue.

“I’m from Roswell New Mexico originally” she informed him.

“Really?” He grinned “I bet that’s an interesting place”

Liz giggled “Yeah you can say that again”

“Is everything really alien themed?”

Liz giggled harder then before pulling out her purse and removing the photo. Max took the photo and stared at the three figures out the front of what appeared to be a restaurant.

“That’s me, Maria and Alex out the front of my parents alien themed café The Crashdown”

“You’re kidding?” Max laughed “What are you wearing?” he laughed then.

“Oh those are the uniforms” Liz blushed. She was only 17 in the photo but she loved the picture so she always carried it around with her.

“Nice” Max smirked “that wouldn’t take me long to get off” he added then.

“Good to know” Liz smiled and laughed a little when she saw Max blush, he apparently didn’t realise she could hear his last comment.

“So Alex is an old boyfriend?” he guessed.

“No Alex in my best friend, he lives in Boston now and I don’t get to see him as much as I would like” she answered.

“And Maria is your girlfriend?” he guessed.

“Ex girlfriend” Liz replied a slight frown appearing.

“Sorry, Isabel mentioned her that’s all” Max cursed himself for bringing her up.

“So Isabel told you everything?” she asked then, she thought she would but she wasn’t too sure.

“Yeah” Max nodded. Their entrée’s arrived then but they continued their conversation throughout the meal.

“So why did you agree to do this then?” Liz asked.

Max smiled sheepishly “Based on what Iz told me about you I assume you’ve heard about me too”

Liz smirked “Seriously Liz, I don’t have time to for relationships so I date casually, I know Isabel thinks I’m a playboy and maybe I am but all the women I date no the score. I take them out, we have a nice time and if I’m lucky I get a great night in bed” he explained.

“Which is why you were perfect for my situation” she summarised.

“I guess” Max shrugged “although I’m very glad that this is one time I let my sister talk me into a blind date” he smiled.

Liz blushed “Really why is that?”

“because if not I wouldn’t be enjoying your wonderful company and I have to tell you that I’m very excited about taking you to bed” he whispered huskily.

“Your very upfront aren’t you?” Liz smirked, she agreed with him completely. Right now she had her legs tightly crossed trying to hold the ache off that had started.

“Yes I guess it’s the lawyer in me but you and I both know we’re going to have sex tonight Liz so why scoot around the issue” he replied.

“I for one cant wait”

“Me either” Liz whispered huskily.

Alex collected his luggage and moved outside of the airport towards the taxi rank. His flight had gotten in from Boston about ten minutes ago and since he hadn’t rung and told either Maria or Liz that he was arriving there was no one there to meet him.

He wasn’t sure exactly which of his girls doorstep he should show up on though so after hopping the taxi and asking the driver to head towards the city he pulled out his phone.

He decided to dial Liz first but after two rings he got her answering machine. It wasn’t Liz’s voice is was Isabel’s, he had never actually met Liz’s blonde friend but Liz and Maria both painted a different picture of the girl. One thing he had gotten them both to agree on was that Isabel was a knock out.

He rang Maria next, since Liz was out it was Maria’s by default.

“Hello” she answered.

“Hey how’s my girl?” he asked.

“Alex, hey” she replied but there was absolutely no enthusiasm in her voice.

“I take it that it didn’t go well?” he sighed.

“I didn’t get to see her” she explained “she was out and she hasn’t called here in two days”

“I’m sure she’ll call tomorrow” he said.

“Yeah” she agreed and if not she would go to Liz’s work if she had too.

“Anyway I cant talk for long but will you be home later?” he asked, he decided to surprise her and hopefully cheer her up.

“Yeah I’ll be here all night with my TV dinner and One Tree Hill” she told him with a small laugh.

“Ok I’ll talk to you later” he said.

“bye Alex”

He flipped the phone shut and turned to the driver “The village please”

Max was having the best night of his life, not only was he sitting next to a beautiful women but Liz was intelligent and funny. He had never enjoyed being out with any women as much before.

Liz was thinking the same thing, she had never met a man like Max who not only physically turned her on but emotionally as well.

She was eating the yummiest piece of chocolate cake she had ever had and Max couldn’t take his eyes off her, he followed the spoon up to her lips with every bite and watched her lick the spoon clean. Liz looked up and caught the look fool of desire in his eyes.

“You ok?” Liz smiled.

“Just wishing I was that spoon” Max replied with a grin “the way your tongue is licking it”

Liz pulled her spoon away then and placed it down “Well I better not ware my tongue out then” she whispered huskily. The way he was looking at her was enough to melt her insides.

Max reached across and picked up the spoon and filled it with the last of the chocolate cake and brought it to his mouth. Liz watched eagerly her tongue poking out and licking her lips in anticipation.

Max licked the spoon clean but a bit of the icing got stuck on the side of face causing Liz to laugh.

“You’ve got a” she tried to gesture to where the chocolate was and Max used his napkin to try clean it off but he completely missed.

Liz laughed again “come here” she said and gesture for him to lean over the table. She was just about to raise her napkin to remove the chocolate when she had a better idea. Instead she leaned in and licked the side of his mouth, taking the chocolate with her.

“Hmm yum” she whispered. She started to pull away when she felt Max’s hand reach around and cup the back of her head bringing her mouth back to his. The first thing she notices is how soft and warm his lips are as they caress hers. Max pulled her bottom lip into his mouth then and sucked on it before slowly releasing it and pulling away from her.

“Your right, it’s delicious” he whispered.

Liz’s eyes were glazed and her lip redder than before. She had never in her life been kissed like that.

Max smiled when he saw her dazed expression, he signalled for the waiter then and asked him for the cheque, it was time they left and moved on with their night.

When the waiter bought Max’s credit card back Max stood up and offered Liz his hand. She took it without hesitation and they left the restaurant together, to anyone looking they looked like a happy couple you wouldn’t guess that they had only met that night.

Once they reached the Mercedes and hopped inside Max turned to Liz and leaned in to kiss her again, this night was going better than he ever dreamed and he was about to do something very uncharacteristic. Liz met him in the middle and returned his kiss eagerly, he had stirred something inside of her with his earlier kiss and if she thought she was aroused earlier she couldn’t believe how aroused she felt now.

“Come back to my place?” he asked her.

Liz nodded.

“I live just outside the city” he told her.

Liz frowned a little then “It’s ok I normally start work early so I’ll have you home in time for work” he told her trying to ease her worries “but if you prefer we can go to your apartment?”

Liz shook her head “No I’d really like to see your place” they had talked about it briefly through dinner, Max had bought a Terrace house and him and his best friend Michael had spent three years doing it up, now it was finished and Liz could tell that Max was extremely proud.

“Ok” Max smiled happily, he put the car in gear then and drove towards his destination.

Maria lay in her PJ’s with her tub of rocky road Ben & jerry’s watching One Tree Hill with the phone next to her. She kept telling herself that she was just waiting for Alex to call her back but in truth she was hoping that Liz would get home from her dinner early and call.

Picking up the phone again she dialled Liz’s cell and when she received her message bank again she sighed. She was just about to chuck the phone in frustration when the door bell rang.

“What the hell? Who could that be?” she wondered. She thought about that fact that Liz wasn’t answering her phones and her stomach fluttered at the thought that it could be Liz. She put down her ice cream and rushed to the door then not caring about the way she was dressed, she just wanted to pull her into her arms and beg her to forgive her.

“Surprise”

“Alex?” she gasped.

“Yep” he smiled, he was standing on her porch with his suitcase by his feet and a smile. “What are you doing here?” she asked shocked.

“Thought it was time for a holiday” he said.

Maria squealed then, her best fried was here. Alex engulfed her in a hug eagerly it had been over a year since he had seen her. He had been lucky enough to have a few days with Liz in Boston six months earlier when she was there on business. Of the two girls Alex had always been closer to Liz for some reason.

“Come in” she smiled when they pulled apart.

“Thank you, do you mind if I crash for a few nights?” he asked her.

“Of course not my bed is your bed” she grinned.

Maria engulfed him back into her arms then, god he had the most perfect timing in the world. “How do you always know to come when I need you?” she whispered against his chest.

“That’s my superpower” he told her “I’ll always come for my girls when they need me”

Part 6

It didn’t take that long to reach Max’s house since most of the traffic was already gone by that time.

Liz was shocked at how beautiful and big Max’s place was when he led her through it. “So this is it” he said gesturing around as he placed his keys, phone and wallet on the entryway table.

“Wow, it’s amazing” she told him, trying to take in all the beautiful work he had done as well as the nice furnishings, she suspected he had help with those.

“Yeah you can thank Isabel and my mum for that” he smiled sheepishly.

“So does Michael live here too?” she asked him, she was curious as to whether they would be alone tonight.

“No, he helped me do this and now he has bought his own place so I’m spending my weekends helping him” he explained.

“Good plan” she told him.

Reaching out Max took her small hand and led her through the rest of the bottom level of the house. They stopped in the lounge room “Would you like a drink?” he asked.

“Sure” she smiled, now that they were here she was a little nervous. Max pulled of his jacket and threw it over the back of the lounge. “Wine?” he suggested.

Liz nodded enthusiastically she knew a good glass of wine would calm her nerves.

Max returned minutes later with an open bottle and two glasses and he poured them both a glass before taking a seat very close to her on the lounge. They sat quietly sipping their wine for a few minutes before their eyes locked.

“Your absolutely gorgeous did you know that?” Max whispered huskily.

Liz blushed “Thank you” she replied.

Max couldn’t hold himself back any longer and he leaned in to kiss her gently, he meant to pull back but the minute her tongue touched his lips he groaned and opened eagerly for her invasion. The kiss became passionate quickly as their tongues duelled against each other and Max wanted to pull her closer. He pulled back only long enough to remove the wine glass from her hand and place them both on the coffee table before he pulled her against him.

Liz however had other ideas and when Max pulled her tighter against him she lifted her leg and straddled his lap.

Max was surprised but very happy when Liz settled herself against him, her dress rose high on her thighs giving him a very tempting view of her tanned skin. His hands ran up the sides of her body barely grazing the sides of her breasts and when Liz moaned he was encouraged so he cupped her in his big hands.

“Oh yes” she moaned when she felt his hands all over her, if it felt this good over the fabric of her dress and bra she couldn’t wait to feel him when she was naked.

Liz slumped sated and exhausted against Max’s chest as he tried to catch him own breath. By the time Max’s legs felt sturdy enough to stand up Liz was falling asleep so he swept her into his arms.

He dried her off as best as he could before placing her gently in his bed. He smiled as she curled into his pillows her hands reaching out searching for him.

“God I could get used to this” he whispered.

He dried himself off before moving in behind her, he pulled the sheet over their bodies and pulled Liz tight against him.

“Alex” Maria called out.

“Yeah” Alex replied walking out of the bathroom.

“I have to go to work or I’m going to be late” she explained. They had come back to her apartment after Liz wasn’t home.

“Sure” he smiled “what time will you be home?” he asked her.

“Five tonight” she replied.

“Good, hopefully the three of us can get together for dinner” he told her.

“Sure” Maria smiled but she wasn’t confident. Something was up with Liz, she didn’t have sickies or spend entire nights out. For a second Maria was worried that Liz might have found someone else but that was stupid. They loved each other, they’d been together for close to five years.

“Bye” Alex kissed her on the forehead as she walked out the door.

He waited half an hour to be sure she hadn’t forgotten anything and was coming back before grabbing his stuff and calling a cab. He just hoped that Liz had gotten home bye now.

When Max and Liz woke up they were a little shocked to realise it was already two.

Liz sighed and sunk further back into Max’s embrace “I guess we should head back to the city” she sighed regretfully.

Max kissed her temple “Yeah”

He wanted to ask her if he would see her again but stopped himself. Did he really have the time to be starting something with her and would she even want to see him again?.

“I’ve had a really great time” she whispered.

“Just great?” Max joked.

Liz chuckled “Um no great probably only covers the first time”

Max, unable to stop himself from touching her ran a hand over her hip under the cover “I’m glad, and I had a great time too” he told her.

“better than great actually” he smiled.

“Good” Liz grinned, she knew this was the part where she was supposed to get dressed, call a cab and walk out of his life but she couldn’t bring herself to do it. His arms felt so right around her and while she was with him she didn’t have to think about Maria, or the rest of the world.

“Let’s get dressed and I’ll take you home” he said quietly.

Liz nodded and began to pull away until she felt Max tug on her arm. Turning around he pulled her to him and kissed her slowly and passionately. “If your good girl I’ll feed you on the way home too” he grinned.

Liz smiled then happy that the tension had been broken between them and got off the bed and gathered her clothes to get dressed.

There was a different door man on when Alex entered the building again later that day. He signed and took the lift to Liz’s apartment and rang the door bell.

Isabel had just got home from a shitty morning at the office. She hoped to get more work done there so she was annoyed at the door bell. “Yes” she said when she opened the door.

Alex’s mouth fell open in shock at the sight of the most gorgeous blonde he had ever seen “Um hi” he said.

Isabel looked at the man at the door and amusement crept in. He was a very good looking guy in a geeky kind of way and she could tell he hadn’t expected her to answer the door.

She arched an eyebrow at him waiting for him to say something else “Is Liz here?” he asked.

Isabel smiled “No she would be at work right now” she informed him.

Isabel wondered who this guys was because he was very worried about her roommate.

“Alex Whitman” he introduced then offering her his hand.

“Yeah from Liz but according to Maria you’re the devil” he joked.

Isabel laughed at that “Come in” she told him stepping aside allowing him to enter.

“So Liz isn’t at work?” she asked as they took a seat on the lounge.

“And since she left with your brother last night maybe you could tell if she’s ok?” he asked.

Isabel laughed “How did you find that out?”

“I kind of bribed the doorman, but please don’t be angry I gave him a massive sob story about being worried for her safety” he admitted.

“Well I can assure you that Liz is very safe” she promised.

“So you’ve talked to her?” he asked.

“No, but if she didn’t come home last night then she must still be with Max” she shrugged.

“And that’s a good thing?” he quirked an eyebrow.

“My brother is an upstanding member of the community he wouldn’t have done anything to her that she didn’t want him too” she said.

Alex frowned “What does that mean?” he asked.

Isabel rolled her eyes “Don’t worry about it, Liz will be fine. I can ring Max’s cell now if you’re really concerned.” She offered.

“No that’s fine I’ll take your word for it.” He stood up then “Look Liz doesn’t know I’m in town and I kind of want to surprise her so if you could kind of leave out the fact I dropped by I’d appreciate it” he told her.

“Sure thing” she smiled “in fact I’m heading out of town for a couple of days in an hour or so anyway so I probably wont even see her” she said.

Alex nodded and smiled “How long are you in town for Alex?” she asked then.

“A few weeks, maybe more” he smiled.

“Good”

Alex grinned and walked to the door then “Goodbye for now Isabel Evans” he said.

“Goodbye for now Alex Whitman” she grinned.

Alex walked out of the door then and smiled the whole way back to Maria’s apartment already thinking about the next time he would see Isabel.

In the end it was close to five when Max finally pulled up out the front of Liz’s apartment. They had stopped at a small little café for lunch on the way home and ended up spending two hours talking about their work, their families and Max helping Michael renovate his house.

Liz turned and looked at Max wanting to say something but now knowing how “Do you want to come up?” she found herself asking.

“Sure” Max smiled. He didn’t want to leave her yet. He quickly turned the car off and pulled the hand break on before hopping out and rushing around to help her out. He looked like a completely different man in his jeans and t-shirt to the guy who picked her up for a date last night but Liz still thought he looked sexy as hell.

Max placed his hand on the small of her back and followed her into the building. She smiled at the doorman who registered her comings and goings.

The ride in the elevator was quiet, neither knowing what to say or what to expect once they reached Liz’s apartment. Liz let them in “Can I get you something to drink?” she asked.

“Sure a soda would be great” he told her with a smile.

Liz walked to the fridge and the first thing she noticed was that there were two notes, one from Isabel and one from Maria. She read the one from Isabel telling her that she had to go away for work and would call her. It also said she was glad that Liz had a good time.

“That’s for sure” she mumbled.

“What was that?” Max smirked.

Liz turned shocked, Max standing in the door way to the kitchen “Sorry didn’t mean to scare you” Max said.

Liz smiled “it’s ok I was just reading a note from Isabel” she said. She opened the fridge and grabbed to cans of coke then and handed one to Max.

Max looked around the apartment, he had been here only a couple of times before “Do you need a tour?” Liz giggled.

Max shook his head “well I’ve never seen upstairs” he teased.

“Well we can’t have that” she said playfully. She grabbed his hand and pulled him towards the stairs and when they reached the top she turned and said “Max this is upstairs”

They kept walking and Liz pointed straight ahead “That’s the bathroom” then to the left “That’s Isabel’s room”. They began walking then and walked into the room on the right “and this is the most important room in the house” she turned and looked at him then and gasped at the dark colour his eyes had taken on from her teasing.

“So I think that’s a pretty extensive tour don’t you think?” she asked huskily taking a step closer to him.

“I think I need to take a closer look at a few things” he replied.

“Yeah?” Liz smiled.

Max walked towards Liz’s queen size bed and kicking his shoes off jumped in the middle, he pulled his phone out then and switching it to camera took a picture of himself.

“What are you doing?” Liz laughed.

Max sat up and their eyes locked “just wanted to remember what I looked like in your bed” he told her.

Feeling a confidence surge from somewhere Liz kicked off her own shoes and began pulling her dress up her body “You don’t mind if I change do you?” she asked him.

“Well we were just here to whisk Liz off to dinner why don’t you join us, Max?” Alex suggested then surprising everyone.

Max looked at Liz hesitantly, his first instinct was to immediately refuse but he was curious about Maria. Liz bit her lip to stop her smile, this was going to be the most awkward dinner of her life she thought.

“Um sure” he answered when Liz didn’t seem to be against the idea, he liked the idea of spending sometime with her and her friends, especially Maria.

“Well I better get changed” Liz told them and started moving towards the stairs.

Once the girls were gone Max and Alex took a seat on the couch.

“Liz didn’t tell you?” Alex countered.

“Um no” he shook his head “we only met last night” he added for effect.

Alex nodded, his suspicion lessening slightly but not enough to stop his questioning.

“I’m a computer programmer” he told him “I work in Boston for Global Tech” he added.

Max nodded impressed. He knew most of that anyway.

“So your sisters pretty hot” Alex told him causing Max to laugh.

“You think so?” he said.

“OH” Maria frowned. “Where have you been?” she asked then.

Liz sighed and closed her eyes thanking her lucky stars that Maria couldn’t see her face because it was buried in the closet. She didn’t want to do this.

“With Max” she admitted. “He brought me home a half an hour ago” she confessed.
