Disclaimer: This RP was first created by Anna-Lissa who permitted us to continue or restart without her, though I know we'll miss her writing with us. We do not own or hold any sort of rights to the Roswell characters. I was gonna wait to repost this until I had all parts cast, but I can't keep from getting this set.

Anna's idea ended up bringing us the chance to say we have won Best Role Play Round 7 here.

Couples: For adults.... basically all CC save for Kyle and Tess matches...

Read ALL the profile's & Rules before joining

It's been many years since eight teens of Roswell graduated from West Roswell high shcool. The teens are now adults, adults that have their own families.

Max and Liz were the first one to marry. Michael and Maria found each other few years after at the same time that Isabel and Alex did. But Kyle and Tess remained apart and found themselves new partners. Kyle married Eileen Ashkwen and Tess married Marcus Adams.

None of the teens know they have alien blood and what happens when they find out. The powers are for players to decide [If they have them or not] (Kyle knows his children don't really have alien powers, but then again, Kyle has powers because Max healed him so the powers could go to his children as well.)

Adults and their jobs

Max Evans - When Brody left Roswell he gave the UFO museum to Max. Max was amazed by this, but he started running it.
Michael Guerin - Helps Max with the UFO museum and is still working in the CrashDown as a cook.
Alex Whitman - Is the music teacher in West Roswell highs school. He loves his job more than anything.
Kyle Valenti - Is the Sheriff of the town after his father retired. Doesn't really love the job but he doesn't have anything else.
Marcus Adams - Is a lawyer and own his own Law-firm. He loves to boss people around, so it suits him.
Liz Evans - Own the CrashDown cafe because her parents gave it to her after they moved out from Roswell.
Maria Guerin - Is a singer so she doesn't spent much time at home. when she does she helps Liz at the Cafe.
Isabel Whitman - Helps sometimes her husband at shcool and sometimes in the law firm. otherwise she stays home.
Eileen Valenti - Runs a gift shop in Roswell and is happy about it. Loves to make new alien-related stuff.
Tess Adams - Hasn't got a job, but she's looking. She's tired of just being at home while her family is away.

***Whitman***

Image

Erik Whitman
Erik is neutral guy. He drinks sometimes, but he doesn't really care what he does. He's shy at school, he just does what he's told there. James Valenti
James is a complete opposite to his father - meaning his almost like her mother. He doesn't care about rules or being carefull with anything. Sometimes James hates his father for giving him too much rules to follow. He often wants to runaway from home. But his sister always stops him. He likes Lily Evans alot, and his best friends with Tyler Guerin, even if Tyler can be a complete idiot. basic powers, and Levitation/telekinesis (his strongest)

Image

She's best friends with Amy Evans and tries to convince her that Oliver isn't so perfect that Amy thinks he is.

Oliver Adams
Oliver is the town's bad boy. He's a jock and he's a loner. He knows lot of girls are attracted to him because of the bad boy attitude. He often tries to get his sister into parties, but her sister is too shy and gentle to come with him anywhere. Oliver tried to be friendly to Erik Whitman, but Erik seems to avoid him alot.

Older children

Andrew is a caring person just like his father, even if sometimes Brad tries to get him into parties. healing self and others to a degree

Image

Name: Brad Guerin
Bio: The oldest son of Michael and Maria Guerin. He is Andrew Evans's best friend and went to NYU with him. Brad is like a mix of both of his parents. NAME:
Talan Williams

AGE:
18

PERSONALITY:
Talan has a great personality. He's always nice to everyone, and he gets very protective of the people close to him. He can be serious when he needs to be, but he knows how to loosen up.

BACKGROUND:
Talan's been friends with Danni, Lia, and Jake since third grade. He was there when they first discovered they were different, and he accepted them, no questions asked. The four are almost inseperable, and when they decided to go to Roswell, NM, of course he came with. He doesn't have any powers because he is entirely human, but that doesn't make them treat him any differently. (Ends up interested in Marie)

Unknown to Cal Langely, one of his flings nearly twenty years ago, resulted in his lover becoming pregnant with not just one child, but three. Daniella (Danni), Talia (Lia), and Jacob (Jake) are those three children. Raised in secret by their mother who realized early that there was something different about them, they did well in life. Money was never an object, love was never lacking, but something inside them kept crying out for something that seemed to be missing. When they turned eighteen, their mother, laying on her death bed, informed them who their father was and that is how they now come to be in Roswell after having met Cal.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v240/ ... /elli3.jpg Danniella- the first born of the triplets, she is the dark - haired, temperamental child. Protective, distanced, she doesn't trust anyone easily. However, having grown up with the mother she had, she has also come to accept that there are those that cross her path rather often surprise her. (She becomes interested in Andrew after a time.) Powers: Typical Alien, plus shifting, telepathy, and shield.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v240/ ... 1.jpgTalia - the last born triplet, she's a fiery red head with a temper to match. She is determined that she is going to find out more then what their father told them and she doesn't care about the risks involved. However, Daniella has always been the leader of the triplets and she respects her sister enough to bide her time, but while she's watching without revealing herself, there is someone that catches her eyes. (Brad) Powers: typical alien, sharing energy, hydrokinetic, and telepathic.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v240/ ... tone/2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v240/ ... tled11.jpg
Jacob - The middle child, he is light of hair and fair of skin. He is also rather quiet and often easily befriends people. He's the calmest member of his family, but beneath the calm is a rage that burns if someone he cares about is threatened. Despite his sisters' having interest in a couple of guy's, he is determined to make certain they don't get hurt, but in the process finds himself fighting with the fact that he is interested in a girl that is younger then he is by nearly 3 years (Laura) . Powers: typical alien, telepathic, conduit for energy, and a dreamwalker in the sense that he can actually alter people's dreams (and if he chooses, they'll remember).

Danni - Ella Wilks

OOC: Well...... here we go :D

Roswell Next Generation Posts

~Maria~

Well, it’s time for my visit with my friends and family back in Roswell. I just wish that the plane would hurry up and take off. My recent tour has kept me away a bit longer then I like, but Michael has always been so great with understanding. Of course, even if he wasn’t, I would have gone anyway. It had been my dream and one that I’d managed to fulfill doing the type of music I love. But, I also couldn’t help but realize just how much I miss my family. I know in the last three years I’ve spent so little time at home and my children have been growing up without me.

I keep hoping that it won’t effect our bond, but I also know that when I’d been growing up without my father around I’d grown bitter. I just hope that neither Christina or Tyler ever feel that way about me. “Maria, are you even listening?”

I turn to look at Mark Harlon, my agent. He’s wearing his usual exasperated expression. “Sorry, what were you saying, Mark?” I ask him as I stretch and lean back in the seat. In the background I hear the pilot talking about us taking off and I have got to say that I’m glad. I haven’t even phoned anyone back in Roswell to tell them I’m coming home, wanting it to be a surprise since I wasn’t due for another three weeks.

“As you requested, I have made certain that I haven’t booked any concerts for you until after the New Year, but there is an organization doing a benefit for the homeless that has specifically asked that you make an appearance and do some signings. All profits are to go to building two new shelters. The concert would be set for Christmas Eve. I told them that I’d have to discuss it with you since you’ve spent several holidays away from your family in the past.” Mark explained and I nodded silently as I thought about it.

“I’ll speak to my husband on the matter, Mark. I may make it a one day trip so I can return for Christmas with my family, if I decide to do it at all. As to signings, I can easily prepare several autographs and some memorabilia that can be sold to acquire finances to be donated to them.” I notice he doesn’t like that idea, “Don’t argue with me on this, Mark. I will help out where I wish. Don’t forget, I hired you and can fire you at any time. The contract we have is open on timing because I don’t take things lightly. This is my career and I won’t be forced to change for anyone else.”

I know I’ve had this talk with him before, but quite frankly I’m sick of having everyone look at me as though I’m going to turn into a money hungry diva and not remain true to things I believe in. “Now, relax Mark. Remember, you are being given some time to have your own vacation without being considered off without pay. Show some consideration for that, will you? Not every agent get’s the offer I gave you.” I give him a slight smile and close my eyes.

I couldn’t wait to be in my husbands arms or to hear his voice. I hadn’t even called him in the last two weeks because of preparing for the trip home and normally I called him once a week if not more. I just hope that when I get home, I can surprise him completely. “Now, Mark. Were the plans made for the car to pick me up at the airport and drive me home?” I say without opening my eyes.

“Yes, and as planned I will see you to your door before continuing on my journey.” Mark replies and I nod, sighing.

“Good, wake me when we land please. I’ll be very busy once I get home.” I say, yawning slightly before letting myself doze off.

~Marcus~

I can’t believe the newest cases we’ve been taking on of late. If it wasn’t for the kind of money my firm makes, some of the client’s would be tossed out the door. “Mr. Adams.” I hear my secretary as she stands in the doorway, “Your three o’clock is here.”

“Show her in, Mrs. Bradley.” I tell her and watch as she nods, motioning to someone and then I watch as a woman who is probably just barely out of her teens walk in. “You are Miss Reed?”

“Yes, sir. Tanya Reed.” The woman walks over and sits down, extending her hand. “I thank you for taking the time to meet with me, sir. I know you are a very busy man.” She smiles and he simply nods, giving her a light smile in return.

“What is the case involving, Miss Reed? You made it sound urgent over the phone.” I ask her, leaning back and steepling my fingers together.

“Well, you see… I was an emancipated minor, sir. I was under the impression that…” The girl continues on and I know that my secretary is taking notes but I seriously can’t focus on what she’s saying. I don’t know how much she said or how long she talked but I came back to myself just in time to hear her say, “So, sir. I’d appreciate it if you could consider taking the case and I’ll do anything I can to make certain I can pay whatever fee you require.”

I sigh for a moment before nodding, “Make sure Mrs. Bradley has your contact information and I’ll go over the case details with some of my associates before I make a decision. If I feel it’s a case that I can’t best serve, I’ll contact others that might be able to.” I tell her and she nods, soon being led out.

“Mrs. Bradley, type up the notes of this meeting and leave them on my desk. Once you are done, you may go for the day. I have a meeting out of town, so you can lock up.” I tell her, the meeting a lie, but I didn’t have the heart to admit to the woman that I just wasn’t in the mood for work today. “Oh and, I’ll still give you your full shift, so don’t worry.” I added before walking out of the office and making my way home in my new Ford Explorer.

I wanted to see my wife, my children. I just needed to be home and I couldn’t understand why the urge had hit so hard. It had never been this way before.

~Isabel~

All right, so I haven’t had a great deal to do for the day. I wasn’t needed earlier at the law firm and I hadn’t been needed in the school either. So, I stayed home and spent the time baking, preparing things for meals later in the week and being utterly bored. I was beginning to miss having younger children going about and that was something I’d never thought I’d feel before. I mean, I love Sabrina and Erik. My children and Alex are very important to me but after having Sabrina, I’d been certain I wouldn’t want any more children, but lately… I don’t really know how to explain it.

I’ve even considered going to Max and seeing if he could find anything wrong with me. Thing is, I know he and Liz are enjoying a normal life at the moment and the last thing any of us needs is a reminder of what we are. We’ve done well not using our powers much in the last few years. I’ve even stopped dream walking most of the time. Of course, from time to time I enjoy the random walk into my husband’s head to see what he’s dreaming about, though lately it’s mostly been music, his students, or our family.

I remember a time when I’d walked Max and had to back out quick, those had been dreams I didn’t want to know about. Life was beginning to feel too normal to me which is strange since I’d always strived for normal. I glance over at the clock to see that my husband is just about to have his last class end for the day and I decide to go meet him.

With a smile, I grab something for him to eat since he’ll have papers tograde more then likely. I also, grab my jacket and keys, heading to the car. It’s only a ten minute drive and I can’t help but remember times when I walked into this same school with other sorts of thoughts on my mind. Of course, I also knew that some of the students had crushes on me, which I thought was cute.

I arrive and park before climbing out, the fried chicken I had brought with me in hand. Making my way through the hallways, I greeted several children that passed by and some of the staff. Then, I came to the music room, well the back entrance which would be closer to my husbands desk and slowly opened it, just in time to hear the bell go off.

I notice my daughter picking up her guitar case and her bag in a hurry and smile as she gives me a smile. She turns to say something to a couple of the other girls and runs over, “Mom, Dad, I’ve got a gig tonight so don’t wait up.” She smiles and then runs over to the other girls, her only real friends it seemed, and went off before I could reply.

With a smile, I shook my head and turned to Alex, “Hey, I brought you something to eat. Figured you might need your strength for grading, though it is Friday and you have all weekend.” I say this even as I place the container down and move to stand behind him, my hands falling onto his shoulders, massaging gently. “How was your day?” I ask him quietly as the classroom empties.

~Sabrina~

The bell rings and all I can think is that it’s about time. Mystic Fae has to get warmed up before our gig tonight. I look at Maggie, Dawn and Leta, “I’ll be right back.” I tell them as I see my mom walking in and make my way toward where she’s stopped near dad. “Mom, Dad, I’ve got a gig tonight so don’t wait up.” I give them a smile and then run back over to the girls. “Alright, come on. We’ve got work to do. Not to mention costumes to put on for tonight’s bash.”

“Relax Sabs, we have the costumes set. The music is down. We’ll rock the place and in turn you’ll get Tyler’s attention.” I feel myself blush as Maggie mentions Tyler and shake my head.

“Stop it, Mag’s. I mean it. If we don’t make a good impression tonight, we’ll never play another party again. We have to decide the order of the sets.” I try to tell them seriously. I don’t want to just be a karaoke junkie anymore. I want our band to work out. We’ve worked really hard at this. It doesn’t matter to me whether Tyler notices me or not, I think to myself.

“Are we going to do ‘Can you see,’ tonight?” Leta asks and I shrug.

“We can, but we haven’t had as much practice time in for that one.” As we’re talking, we’ve got instruments in hand and are heading away from the school and over to the Crashdown where we often sit and talk about what we’re going to do before we go practice. Not to mention, if Erik shows up, I need to remind him that I have to be at the party early if he’s taking me. If not, I’ll have to get Leta to take me instead.

~*James Valenti*~

Already, the day was wearing thin for me as I strode down the sidewalk toward the Crashdown Cafe'. I can't remember if I had plans to meet with anyone or not, but honestly I could care less. At least, for the moment my dad couldn't say anything about me being at the Crashdown. His rules were constantly causing me to feel restrained and completely frustrated. I guess that's kind of why I like to do the things I do. He hasn't found out about my recent tattoo, or even the other two.

I'd become quite the artist with a self-made tattoo gun. Hell, I hadn't even shown Tyler yet. He knows about the small wolf one that I did on my left leg and the dragon I started on my right leg, but my newest was a tribal design that I'd started on my chest. With my black muscle shirt it was barely hidden, but well enough not to be bothered at the moment.

I grinned as I saw the jocks sitting at their tables and thought about going over and started something. Instead, I simply walked over to a table and took a seat. My eyes closed as I leaned back trying to decide just what I was in the mood to do. I could start something with the jocks, but then it would give Tyler something to decide not to speak to me because of and we've already had enough silent days this month.

Besides, I still needed to learn the scoop on what the plans were for the weekend and if we were going to head out of town to one of the clubs Saturday night as we were known to do rather often. We weren’t of age, but it sure as hell was fun sneaking in. With a sigh, I open my eyes and remember that there’s a rave tonight and wonder whether Lily will be there. I can’t help but think about her and anytime I’m in the Crash, I think about her even more. She’s hot, tempting and rather intense. She doesn’t fit the ‘normal’ crowd and I like that about her.

(ooc: Still not sure about the powers... :? but I'll just go with it for now. I'll be by with Oliver's tomorrow. :D )

Laura

When the bell finally rang on Friday to signal the end of school, I couldn't have been more relieved. Normally I liked school, but I was anxious to get to the weekend and hang out with all of my friends. Not just my casual, school friends either, I was around them all day. No, I really wanted to get to the Crashdown cafe that Amy's parents owned in order to meet my real friends, the ones I felt comfortable being myself around. We hadn't agreed to meet, but there were usually at least two people from our group located at the Crash.

"So, anyway, is your brother going to be at the party tonight?" Tina asked me casually as we exited the classroom in our usual group. I shook my head slightly to clear it, trying to catch onto what she'd said. I had been ignoring for the most part her slightly annoying prattle.

When I understood I rolled my eyes. "Uh, probably, why?" I asked, although I was pretty sure I knew. Half the girls in this school had a crush on my bad boy brother. Apparently his sour attitude and broody expression were attractive to just about everyone, including my best friend Amy Evans. Why I'd never know, but apparently is was very appealing.

"Well, I was wondering if you could talk to him for me?" Tina asked, biting her lip nervously as we made our way out to the parking lot. She was supposed to head off towards her own car, but instead she clung to my side. “’Cause, he’s never shown any interest in any girl before now, and I was just wondering if maybe—”

“Tina, you could do so much better than my brother!” I said, rolling my eyes. It was true, Tina was quite attractive, and she had a cute, bubbly way about her. “Anyway, you might want to know that I’ll be at the party too, unless you’re too busy worrying about Oliver.” I quipped, though I wasn’t really offended. Tina never meant any harm, and she always jumped to apologize when she felt she had wronged someone.

5...4...3...2..1…

“Oh, of course I do! I’m sorry, Laura!” Bingo.

“No problem. Listen I have to go, ok?” I said. “Talk to you at the party?”

Apparently she was too worried about upsetting me to think about the fact that I never answered her. “Yeah, of course! Bye!” She gave me a mini hug, planting a loud kiss on my cheek.

“See you!” I said, hopping into my car. I took a deep breath, letting the happiness coarse through me. I was off to the Crashdown, going to see my closest friends. And if they weren't there, then I'd be off in a couple of hours to go to a hot party, where we'd all meet up. This would be fun!

Will be back with a Marie and Tess post as soon as I can.

LILY

I lean against my sister’s locker, watching people go about their business and waiting for either Amy, Marie or Christina to show up. I’ve got important things to discuss with them such as the party tonight. I know without a doubt that Christina is going to be there tonight by my side ‘cause there’s nothing my best friend likes better then a party. Amy, my darling twin sister and Marie, my sporty and bookish friend are a whole different ballgame. I’ve probably got more chance convincing Brad Pitt to turn up at the party then those two.

The corridors are heaving with students all desperate to leave the prison known as high school and somehow I manage to resist the urge to bolt. I’m a girl on a mission. An important mission that involves bringing fun and mischief to those too timid to find it for their selves. A mission that involves getting Amy and Marie to live a little on the dangerous side.

“Hey Lily, are you going to the party tonight?” Brand Hallowell asks, snapping his locker closed. Brand is one of Roswell High’s badasses and a friend of mine, we’re not that close or anything but he is cool to hang around with when Christina is busy playing good student and I want to skip class.

“Duh,” I state. When have I ever missed a party? “It wouldn’t be much of a party without me would it?”

“Nah, I guess it wouldn’t.” He says with a smirk. “I’ll catch you later then.”

“Yeah, later.” I say before scanning the now thinning crowd for signs of Amy, Marie and Christina. I sigh in relief when I see Marie, a book clutched tightly to her chest, heading towards me. The less time I have to spend in this hellhole the better. Flashing her a smile, I greet her. “Hey Geek,”

~~~~~ALEX~~~~~
I look at the class infront of me....and they all stare blankly back. There just looking at me...some with there mouths hanging open like complete morons. I know that most of these kids are only here because there forced to and everything...but come on! It's music! It's brilliant!
"Anyone? Annnyyone at all?" I ask.
Nothing. It's like talking to the wall....actually....walls react when you apply a force.....these drones probably wouldn't.
"Come on guys and girls...it's what we have been doing alll lesson. Anyone...the key with two sharps?" I ask pleadingly.
That time the only reaction was someone nearly falling off the back chair as they were about to nod off! I groan!
"It's on the board behind me! Come on people! Wake up!"
I turn around and walk over to the board. I point to each word with my chalk as I say it. "G Major!" I say loudly. "G Major!!!"
The bell rings....Oh thank God! Instantly chairs are scuffled as the kids get up.
"That harmony excersise we were doing I want in next lesson! That includes you Jamie!" I shout over the noise as kids disappear through the door. I hear Jamie say "Yeah right" as he leaves....grrr...these kids will be the death of me!
I head over to my desk and sit down. God my day has been going from bad to worse.
I hear someone running upto me.
“Mom, Dad, I’ve got a gig tonight so don’t wait up.” I hear my daughter say. I love my daughter. Her, my son, my wife and my music....my four greatest passions. I nod as I register her vaguely. She dashes off....
Hang on...Mom and Dad?
I look up to see my brilliant wife. I smile...she always make the sunshine come out for me. She turns towards me and smiles.
"Hey, I brought you something to eat. Figured you might need your strength for grading, though it is Friday and you have all weekend.”
I smile as she puts down the container down next to my huge pile of marking.
"Oh thank you! That's so great! I'm starving!" I say as I quickly tuck in. "Oh God this is gweat" I say through my mouthful.
Isabel walks around behind me. I don't know what she's doing before I suddenly feel her soft touch on my shoulders. She starts to proceed to give me a massage.
"How was your day?”
"Hmm" I say as the massage washes over me. "Oh, pretty bad. Jamie playing up as usual, not giving me his homework as usual. I had some girl spraying ruddy airosol around the room again and making the girl next to her have an asthma attack. Oh and then I had this class who were about awake as a dead wet fish!" I say annoyed, but somehow relaxed..."But my day seems to be getting much brighter as soon this beautiful goddess just entered the room" I say beaming.
What a great lesson! I love astronomy. It's just so amazing. I love looking at the stars and knowing about the life cycle of stars. It's amazing how our planet is just right for life. It's really something spectacular.
I know everyone thinks Im a geek or something, well...in particular a certain twin of mine does. But sorry if I find things like this exciting! For example tonight Im looking forward to an A&E biography on Madame Curie. Should be really good. Of course I will be doing my homework first. And of course not forgetting my shift at the crashdown.
I turn into the corridor at school to go to my locker when I see them...my twin and Marie...
I almost forgot! That stupid party...I bet that's why she's hanging around at my locker....to try and convince me to go....like that's going to happen!
I quickly change my mind about going to my locker...I'll just have to take all my stuff home with me.
I quickly walk in the other direction. I might as well head to the bus stop and get home. Might as well start early at the Crashdown. It's not like I have anything better to do...and besides...I love th Crashdown. I can't believe my parents own the Crashdown and the UFO centre opposite. They tell me about all these stories about them growing up with mom working at the Crashdown and Dad working at the UFO centre...and now there both ours...It's pretty amazing really.
I finally reach the bus stop. Fortunitely the bus is just pulling up...what luck! I quickly get on and go sit in my usual seat at the back of the bus.
I sigh as the bus starts to drive off. I think about my sister...why does she always try to get me to go to these dumb parties anyway? She knows Im not into the kind of thing. It's not my scene...
Although, one thing I didn't factor in....Oliver....he would be there...wouldn't he....maybe I should ask Laura. I know she finds it really annoying that I like him when she says he is awful etc. But I don't see that. He's....so unbelievably...Oliver.
Maybe if I find out he's going Lily could convince me to go after all...I mean...if he's going to be there....I could stare at him all evening from the corner where he won't even notice I exist.
The bus pulls in at my stop and I jump out. I walk in through the Crashdown doors and smile as the bell tinkles. I see mom waitressing.
"Hey!" I say as I greet her, "I'll just go get changed" I tell her as I kiss her cheek. "How was your day?" I ask her.
I was dead tired from Friday's soccer practice as I made my way towards the Crashdown. After practice I'd showered quickly, then thrown on the only clean clothes I'd had in my bag; a white shirt and some faded jeans. I had said I'd meet James there to discuss tonight's plans, so here I was, even though I didn't want to be. Honestly, I'd rather be at home sleeping in front of the television. A moment later though I'd pushed open the double glass doors, reveling in the air conditioned climate change.
"Hey Guerin!" One of my fellow soccer team members shouted over as I looked around, quickly scanning the occupants of the restaurant. "Williams," I said, nodding my head.
I wasn't exactly a big fan of the Crashdown, because my dad worked there, and it was a little weird to see your dad working at the place you hang out; kind of like having a parent thats a teacher at your school, like Sabrina. Sabrina was sitting a few tables over with her band, and as I walked by, I couldn't help but look over, wondering what they were talking about.
So, thinking about Sabrina, I slid into the other side of the booth James had occupied. "Hey James," I said in greeting, before motioning a waitress over.
"Hi, Mallory," I said, smiling at the woman. She was a fridne of the family's, and used to babysit me. "Could I get a cherry coke?" I asked politely.
"Of course you can, Tyler," she said with a smile, and as she walked over to the counter, I turned back to James.
"So, you going tonight?" I asked, looking curiously at him. "Mystic Fae is playing at the rave and I want to go. Then, we can go to the club in the next town over tomorrow night...hey, what's that?" I asked, pointing at new ink peeking out from his black muscle tee. "You get another tatoo?" I asked disbelievingly. "One of these days your dad's gonna find out. So what is it this time?"
I hurry faster down the hall as I see Lily standing at her sister's locker. Marie is walking up to her at the same time, so I motion not to say I'm there and I pounce on her back.
"What up, biotch," I say in greeting, walking around Lily so I'm facing them. I pull out a bag, complements of my fourth period shoppping trip.
"So, you guys all know you are going tonight, right? I glance from Lily to Marie, hoping they'll both say yes. "Well, anyways, here is my outfit. "
Smiling, I pull out a teeny black halter top and a sequiny denim mini. "So, what do you guys think?" I ask, holding it up to my body. Some jock friend of my brother's walks by and does a catcall, so I give him a sly grin before turning back to the girls. "Like it?"
“Come in.” I say as the knock sounds on my office door. The head of one of my employees pops in before his body finally makes a show. Josh is one of my part-timers still in high school. He’s a bit nerdy, as my daughter Lily likes to point out, but he’s a hard worker. Always on time and there when he’s needed.
“Just letting you know that I noticed that we were low on brochures Mr. Evans.”
I look up from the computer. “Thanks Josh. I’ll let Michael know to order more. Has Darlene made it into work yet?”
Darlene was another part-timer. I only had three. One worked during the day while the other two worked evenings and weekends. I didn’t pay them much but they were willing to put up with all the craziness of the tourists that visited.
“Oh, um… no sir Mr. Evans. I saw her as school let out and she had to serve some detention. I’m sorry, I was supposed to tell you that she would be late.”
I smile at the boy. He and Darlene work Fridays and Saturdays together and I knew he’s got a crush on her despite her Goth getup and attitude.
“It’s ok. It’s slow the last I looked. Just call me if you get too busy.” I say before turning back to the computer screen. Saturdays are busier but sometimes so can Fridays.
“Alright.” Josh closes the door behind him.
Absently I pick up my cell phone and hit my speed dial. “Hey Honey. I may be a few minutes late tonight. Darlene got detention again so I may need to stick around a little longer.”
I smile as her voice comes across the line. I sit back and close my eyes in wonder how after all these years, just the sound of her voice can brighten my day.
ooc: I hate first posts so I hope this is ok. I'm working on Kyle and Erik's post now
One of my deputies stepped into my office and waited for my attention. After finishing the paperwork in front of me I look up. I never realized how much stupid paperwork was involved in being Sheriff. It’s no wonder Dad spent most of his time at the office.
“There’s a big party going on tonight.” I say.
Deputy Brown nodded. “Yeah, I heard about it from my son. Says a band is going to be there.”
“Yeah, well, I’ve got two extra deputies on tonight with you. You decide who will take patrol and who will hang in the vicinity of the party.”
“Yes Sir.” He turns to leave my office.
“And Brown. Call me if it gets to be too much or if anything serious happens. I don’t want those kids driving around town drunk.”
“Of course.” He nodded and left.
I lean back and look at the pictures on my desk. One is of my father and grandfather, taken before James Sr. died. The other was of me, my wife Eileen, and children, Marie and James. I sigh. Time flies. I remember a time when it was myself going to parties, having fun, and just being a kid. Of course that was before I got involved with Max Evans and the others.
“The good ol’ days.” I sigh before getting back to work so I can go home to my loving wife. The thought of her makes me smile. She’s the one thing that always makes life bright, well besides my children, but Eileen… I now understand when Max once told me about Liz being his soul mate.
