They would always remember that day. In the clear, blue sky, the bright sun was shining, warming the air.

That day was just perfect. The nearest park was full of people. There were families with kids playing, couples laying on spread blankets and some people were just walking and enjoying the peace that everyone could feel in the air.

Everyone seemed happy and content with their lives. All their troubles seemed far away. The only sound was laughter and children’s happy voices.

In that day, life was paradise.

Somewhere far away, a group of people were standing in a churchyard. Some were older, some younger, but they had one thing in common.

They didn’t cry.

They wanted that day to be a good one, not filled with tears and grief.

And the others obeyed. Even nature seemed to accept that.

The King and the Queen of the Antar had been buried today.

Max and Liz had lived a long, happy and content life and they’d had no regrets. Every event, every thing, every word and every action had led them to their happy ending.

They had been forced to become adults when they were just teenagers. They’d had to fight for their lives. The world’s future had been in their hands.

They had done miracles and at the same time, they were miracles to each other.

The world didn’t know about their actions. The people of the world didn’t even suspect that they were alive just because a young boy and his wife had saved them. The world didn’t know anything about it.

But Max and Liz hadn’t cared about that. They didn’t need the appreciation of strangers. All they ever wanted was each other.

They had travelled a long, strange and dangerous road through their lives. They had been hurt and they had been healed. They had lied and they had told the truth. They had loved and they had felt loved.

They simply loved each other.

After they had left Roswell, they wandered all across the world. They had visited so many countries, that they didn’t even remember them all.

They’d always wanted to return Roswell; to their home.

But they couldn’t.

They had accepted that and had created another home with each other.

When they had been married for 5 years, they bought their first and only house. It was Max’s present to his wife on their anniversary. Liz had given him a tiny box with a even tinier red booty in it.

They had many more anniversaries, but that one always had been a special one. They had finally started to live.

And they had continued to love each other.

During their marriage they experienced more than twenty thousand days when Max would come home bringing a single white rose to his wife and more than twenty thousand nights when they had slept peacefully together in each others arms.

In 70 years, they had never spent a night apart.

Today was their 70th anniversary.

But today wasn’t their funeral. No. Today was the day when their bodies were buried, but not their souls. They would continue to live forever. They would love forever. They would always be together...Now and for eternity.

They had died peacefully during the night, wrapped once again in each other’s embrace like every other night in the past seventy years.

They were smiling,

They had been happy in this life and they didn’t doubt that they would find each other once again in another life. They were Max and Liz. Their love would bring their souls together again in the next life. And in the next and in the next...

They would be together.

They’d wanted their bodies to be buried beside the church where they had married.

So now, they were where they had wished, with their friends and family around their graves.

There was Zan, Max’s oldest son, who had found his father not long after his 18th birthday. Their reunion was both beautiful and sad. Max had found his son right after they’d settled in their house and Liz had announced her pregnancy.

When he found him, Zan was happy. He had good and loving parents. Max couldn’t crush his life and had decided that it would be the best if he just walked away.

Only Liz had known how hard that was. She’d held him many nights after that when he just couldn’t sleep.

After their first child, a girl, had been born, he started to smile once again. She healed him. The little girl was his daughter and Max wanted to show her every day how much he loved her.

Little Alexandra was his little princess.

Over the years, they had many other children. By their last anniversary, they had many grandchildren also.

Their big, old house, where they’d lived almost all their lives as a married couple, was always full of laughter on Sundays.

Every Sunday their big family had been together.

And they didn’t regret anything. How could they have regrets when their little granddaughter had crawled into her granddad’s lap and asked him to tell her a story about the Great War on the Antar?

They never looked back, just straight in the future.

They had been hurt and healed by each other. They were Max and Liz, husband and wife, king and queen, soulmates, friends and lovers...But that all started by the day when Max stepped out of the bus and his eyes had locked with hers.

She had been in his heart for 80 years and he thanked God every day that He had let him find his brown-eyed angel.

He was happy. She was happy.

They were happy.

They had died happy.

***

Somewhere far away, a baby boy was born and somewhere not too far from there, a little baby girl was also born.

Their souls would find each other and they would live happily even after.

Again and again....
