Summary: The New York Pod squad goes to Roswell to talk about the summit meeting. Rath, Lonnie, Ava, and Zan aren’t evil but they are rough around the edges. Due to the circumstances of their lives they have to steal to survive. Will new friendships and love help them change? As usual Tess the bitch is up to no good.
A/N: This takes place after future Max like in the show. I borrowed some lines from the show so it’s sorta similar but with a lot of changes.
Chapter 1:
(New York)
Zan, Rath, Lonnie, and Ava came out of the subway station in New York. They walked by a fruit vendor and Zan causes the stand to fall. As the vendor is picking up the fruit Lonnie reaches over to the cash register and takes the money. They continue to walk down the street when they’re stopped by Jay.
Jay smiled at Lonnie. “Hey, what’s up girl?”
“What’s up, man?”
“You looking good.”
“Yeah, she knows it.” Rath said hooking an arm around Lonnie.
“We done talkin’.” Zan said and continued to walk down the street. The others automatically followed.
“Yo, they contacted us again last night. Same invite. What we gonna tell ‘em?” Rath asked looking over at Zan.
“We tell ‘em to pump their brakes. We gotta talk to dem hicks in Rozzy first. We don’ know what’s up wit dem and this shit. What if it’s a setup or somethin’ we ain’t sure yet.”
Rath nodded. “Aight. When we goin’ to Hicksville?”
“We leavin’ soon as we get a ride.”
Rath stopped in front of a blue Trans am. Using his powers he unlocked the door on the driver’s side and turned on the car. Grinning he bent his head to look at them through the passenger side window. “We got a ride.”
They all laughed before climbing in the van.

(West Roswell High)
Liz sat at her desk trying hard to keep her eyes away from Max and her mind on her teacher. He was sitting two rows in front of her, he used to sit next to her. Sighing she turned her attention back to Mrs. Hardy.
“A black hole...that's what's left after a star dies. And that's exactly what happened last week, my friends. The spectacular, stellar, implosion of a red giant, unheard of in the history of astronomy...the first time a post-main sequence star burning in its prime suddenly and without warning violently exploded in a supernova of a hundred million degrees and disappeared, a process that typically takes many thousands of years. What could have accounted for this...remarkable loss?”
Liz looked at Max again. The bell rang signaling the end of the period. Liz got up quickly and caught up to Max outside.
“Hey. Kinda weird about that star, huh? Kinda sad. It just doesn't seem that something burning so bright could just...burn out.” Liz said trying to make conversation.
“But it did.” Max said without even a glance at her. Before she could say anymore he walked off.
Liz held back the tears threatening to fall. With one last look at Max’s retreating back she turned and headed off to her next class.

(UFO Center)
“Brody.” Max greeted as he walked into the UFO center.
“Max! You’re here! I’ve been dying to tell someone about this all day. Look . . . activity on the East coast. Somewhere near here.” Brody said excitedly.
“New York?” Max said frowning.
“Uh-huh. Someone or something is trying to make contact.” Brody grinned. They heard a beeping noise and Brody looked down at his pager. “Time for dinner.”
“I’m not hungry.”
“Well . . . take a break then.” Brody said waving him off.
“I just got here.”
“GO! Go go go go go!” Brody said shooing him off.

(Crashdown)
“Make sure you put pepper jack on that Galaxy sub Michael. The dude’s crazy about the pepper jack.” Maria said while she cleaned the counter.
“Yeah, all right.”
“Oh, Max called. There’s a meeting on Saturday night.”
“Can’t. Got some big plans Saturday.”
“Aww. That’s so sweet.” Maria said smiling.
“Sweet? It’s the dirt bike finals.”
“Hello? I’m singing on Saturday at the museum.” Maria said taking the sandwich from Michael.
“Yeah, but I’ve heard you sing before. What’s the big deal?”
~~~
(UFO Center)
“Hey Brody. Galaxy sub hold the mayo.” Maria smiled putting the bag on his desk.
“Thank you.” Brody said a tint of red on his cheeks.
“Is there pepper jack in that sandwich?”
“Uh . . . No there doesn’t appear to be.” Brody said when he unwrapped the sandwich.
“Unbelievable! I cannot believe it!” Maria said angrily.
“It’s all right. It’s just cheese.”
“No. No. It’s not just cheese.”
“But it’s a very small thing.”
“Yes, it is a very small thing. That’s why a person who cannot get cheese right deserves to die!” Maria said waving her arms in the air.
Brody nodded uncomfortably. “Uh, you really take your job seriously.”
“Look, here. It’s on the house.” Maria said giving him back his money.
“At least let me give you a tip.”
“That’s unnecessary but thank you.” Maria took the money Brody handed to her and left.
(On the Road)
“So, who is it we lookin’ for again?” Rath asked.
“Max. Max Evans. He’ supposed to be the otha king. We gotta talk to him and the othas about all dis shit.” Lonnie said from the back seat.
Zan looked up from the rearview mirror at Ava. “You aight back there Aves? You ain’t said a word since we left New York.”
Ava smiled. “I’m good.”
Lonnie put her arm around Ava. “You sure?”
Ava nodded. “Yeah.”
“We getting’ close. We jus’ outside Roshell.” Zan said picking up speed.
“Dog, this shit is only dirt an’ rocks.” Rath said looking out the window.
“Yo, why you think they didn’ tell them hicks from Rozzy about the summit meetin’?” Lonnie said looking at Zan.
“Cause we the only one’s that know there’s anotha set of us out there. ‘Sides they livin’ out here in the middle of nowhere unda a rock.” Zan said smirking.
Zan sped by not noticing the police car parked on the side of the road. The car followed them and flashed its lights signaling for them to pull over.
“Shit. 5-0” Zan said stopping the van.
“Be cool.” Lonnie said to her brother.
“Don’ worry. If anythin’ Ava you can do ya mind shit on ‘im.”
Ava nodded.
Sheriff Valenti got out of his car and walked over to the driver’s side of the door.
“License and registration. Max?” The Sheriff burst into laughter. “Lord have mercy. What’s with the hair and outfits?”
“We was on our way to a party. It’s a . . . kinda . . . a New York theme.” Rath said.
“You look like you’re from another planet. For once. So, where’d you get this car?”
“We uh borrowed it. Sheriff . . . um, Valenti.” Zan answered.
The Sheriff nodded. “Hey, listen. You wanna slow it down a little bit. There’s no need to attract additional attention to yourselves, especially with what we’ve been through lately.”
“Word! No you ain’t lyin’, sir.” Zan said. “Uh, Sheriff, you know in ma house there’s this uh, weird car parked out front.”
“Weird car?”
“Yeah,” Rath said nodding. “You know . . . alien hunter.”
“Yeah, you know felt like we was bein’ watched by someone. So, we was wonderin’ if we could follow you back and yous could check it out.” Zan asked.
“Okay. Tell you what. You follow me and if the coast is clear I’ll wave you off.” Sheriff Valenti nodded.
“Cool! Thanks Sheriff. You the freakin’ man!” Rath grinned.
The Sheriff laughed. “Okay.”
~~~
(Crashdown)
Liz walked over to Max at the last booth. “Um, do you want anything else from the kitchen? Cause it’s gonna close.”
“No thanks.”
Liz sighed. “God, I hate this. We can’t even talk to each other anymore. Before everything long before we kissed . . . we were friends. Why can’t we just go back to that?”
Max shook his head. “We can’t. I . . . can’t.”
Liz watched Max get up. “Ok. I understand that I do. I can respect it. I just. I just don’t want you to hate me.”
Max turned and left without a backwards glance.

(The Evans House)
“Look at dis place yo.” Rath said looking around at the houses.
“You imagine livin’ here?” Lonnie said looking at Rath.
“No! I think I’d kill myself.”
“Aight. Stop yappin’ We gotta talk ta Max.” Zan said getting out of the car. “Aves, you stay by the car an’ keep a lookout.”
Ava sat on the hood of the car while Zan, Rath, and Lonnie climb in through Max’s window.
“Yo! Look at his gear! Where the fuck he get all this shit, freakin’ Conway’s?”
Lonnie laughed. “Told you, total cornball.”
“Yo, out here they think that’s hip.” Zan said grinning.
“Oh my god! Check this out he works at the UFO museum.” Lonnie said holding up Max’s vest.
“No!” Rath said doubling over in laughter.
“Yo. What you find bro?” Lonnie said looking over Zan’s shoulder at the picture he was holding.
“That his bitch?” Lonnie said looking at the brunette. “Where’d you find it?”
“In his sock drawer.” Zan said. He couldn’t take his eyes off the beautiful brunette. He turned the picture over.
“To Max. I’ll always love you. Liz.” Lonnie read aloud.
“Liz.” Zan said a half smile on his face.
Lonnie looked at the goofy smile on her brother’s face. “Yo, you into her?”
Zan shrugged. “I’d do her.”
Lonnie shook her head. “Well, you betta not step on nobody’s toes.”
Zan smirked and put the picture away in his pocket. “I ain’t gonna step on nobody’s toes. If I see her we can jus talk or somethin’.”
“Yo! Look at this!” Rath said from behind them.
Zan and Lonnie turned around to see Rath wearing Max’s giant alien mask. “Well, it’s about time you showin’ what yous really look like.” Lonnie said.
Zan laughed. “Yo, we supposed ta be-“ He stopped. “Somebody’s comin’.”
Rath dived to the floor and hid next to the bed.
“We can still see ya giant alien head dumbass!” Lonnie said pulling off his mask and throwing it inside the closet. At that moment Phillip walked into Max’s room.
“Max? Izzie?”
“Hey . . .dad.” Lonnie smiled forcefully.
“Hey.” Zan said.
Phillip raised his eyebrows at their clothes and hair. “What happened to you? You guys look like some . . . rappers on TV. Like that uh, Queen Laisha and MC Ham.”
Lonnie snorted. “It’s Queen Latifah. And nobody be listenin’ to MC Hammer no more.”
Zan laughed.
Phillip looked at their arms. “Please tell me those are not tattoos I’m seeing.”
“Chill pops. It’s Henna. It’ll wash off.” Zan chuckled. “Ok. No, no . . . you know what? I’ll tell ya the truth. We ain’t really Max and Isabel.”
“You’re not?”
Zan shook his head. “Nah, I’m . . . Romeo and she’s my sister. See, school’s doin’ some kinda rock ‘n’ roll version of Romeo and Juliet and uh,-”
“And my son and daughter have leading parts? That’s great guys! Oh, the smells of the grease paint. The roar of the crowd. I took theatre too. I was Puck, my senior year.”
Lonnie and Zan tried to hold in their laughter. “Totally epic, dad.” Lonnie nodded.

“Uh, sure pops. Whateva you say.” Zan said sarcastically.
“Wow, Max. You guys are really getting into these characters.” Phillip said happily before he walked out the door.
Rath came out from hiding. “Yo, they seein’ a shrink? That’s ma wack.”
“And we thought we had problems.” Lonnie said shaking her head.
Zan took Liz’s picture out of his pocket. “Liz.” He grinned.
