Chpt nine
"So I went into hiding after she became president." Alex told Liz as they sat on the lawn chairs on the balcony. Lucky for them the family who now owned Liz's house went out every friday night for a meal.
"How did Tess become the president?". Liz curiously asked. She would have never guessed Tess and politics would be linked, but then again, Tess grew up in the field of being power hungry.
"She had either killed her rivals or threatened them." Alex said.
"How do you know that?". Liz whispered, scared.
"Because my mother was standing against her in the elections, she was the most challenging rival for Tess. And then Tess killed her....I witnessed the murder and she had set Micheal after me. I faked my death so I could avenge them." Alex said sadly.
"Wait..Micheal?". Liz asked, wondering if it was the Micheal she had known.
"Yes Micheal...Guerin. Tess's right hand assasin and brother..." Alex answered grimly.
"So that explains why every detail about you was wiped out. It was like you had never existed."
"Yeah. Tess was more then happy to dispose of my existance to the world. She didn't want anything to get in the way of her perfectness." Alex said.
"I still don't understand why she's doing this. I can't beleive what Tess is upto." Liz shook her head and wondered if she was like this in the real world.
"Because she want's the utmost power Liz. She wants to conquer us all. By getting rid of the people who she considers a burden and by keeping her special selection of people, she wants her world, a world where she can enjoy ruling. Consider her as the modern day Hitler."
"Where can I find her?". Liz asked. "I need to stop her."
"She lives in the huge black building which replaced the dome. I'll drive you there."
"Okay. Thanks". Liz said and got up.
"But be carefull Liz. Because Micheal is always on patrol." Alex warned her as he got up.
"Don't worry. I will." A determined Liz answered.

A/N: I'm going to include part of a song which isn't in English so I had to get the translations, it's so beautiful and matched the situation which Liz finds herself in.
"I have her locked up." Isabel told a wondering Tess. "Can I go home now?".
Tess smirked and looked at Isabel. "Of course not Isabel. You belong here now."
"Last time I checked, I was under contract." Isabel spat with hatred. Tess had manipulated her in doing things she had not wanted to do. Micheal was obsessed with Tess, beleiving that she could bring him home but Isabel had her suspicions. At first she beleived Tess because her family was in dire need of help and Tess seemed like the most comforting thing but as time progressed, she had been under strain and it was the one night where Tess wanted a favour from her that changed everything.
She had gotten her to marry Jesse Ramirez fifteen years ago, as Jesse was a sucessfull senator. Then Tess used her and became the president through her own manipulative conniving ways.
"You're family Isabel." Tess lips curled as she brought the dated liquer to her lips.
"You're no family to me." Isabel muttered.
"Unless you plan on sharing that cold awful cell with that woman you locked up." Tess said, sensing Isabel's anger.
"No." Isabel answered. "I don't plan to." She said in a more formal tone.
"What was that?". Tess challenged, enjoying winding Isabel up.
"I said I don't want to." Isabel seethed.
"Good." Tess smiled. "You are dissmissed now."
Isabel rushed out of the room and muttered curses for Tess under her breath, these days she was helpless. Tess had everything because of her foolishness.
Meanwhile Alex had dropped Liz off not very far from the dome but a safe distance. Liz had managed to dodge past Micheal's range of fire. He stood guarding the dark castle like building by marching up and down with his huge rifle. Liz could imagine him as a soldier but could never dream of Micheal being a ruthless cold murderer working for Tess. He was blind and didn't know it.
Liz found a secret passage way and ran like the wind, making sure her movements were smooth and swift. She grabbed hold of the bars to support herself as she walked over the railings and then collided against the door by accident but however she slipped through the door and ended up inside the room.
It was dark and gloomy and Liz got up wondering how she slipped through the door without a scratch. Did she have powers now or something?
She looked at her hands as the electricity crakled from the tips of her fingers to her palms. It must have been an effect of being in this dimension or whatever place she was. She just hoped this was just a nightmare that she'd wake upto.
She noticed a tall broad figure among the whiteness of the padded room. It was quite bright and the whole room was just white. A dark haired male was facing towards the wall, he was very still and sat unmoving. Not aware of his surroundings.
Liz's eyes focused on the back of him. "Max??". She gasped, she could recognise him anywhere, his figure was distinct as his scent was...but that was part of the connection package they shared.
She walked up towards him carefully and placed her hand on his shoulder. She moved slightly to see his face. "Max." She whispered when she saw him.
His face was always beautiful, the strong defined jaw, the masculine shape of his nose and chin...but there was pain, confusion concealed on his face in the name of silence. His eyes were dark amber, hollow and no hope floated in them. It was like the gateway to his soul.
Empty. Cold. Alone.
Her Max in this world was alone.
Liz stroked his cheek, forgetting about all the pain and astrocities they had been through. "I miss you so much Max." She said.
Max barely seemed to noticed her, he kept staring at the wall. Ever since that incident twenty years ago when Liz died, he had never spoken a single word, never shed a single tear and never did the things a normal person did, eat, drink sleep. He had required assistance to live. But he had no feeling in his body. No desire to go on. His mind had shut down and his body was just going along for the ride.
Everyday they performed tests on him, putting wires on him, injecting him and even electricuting him. But he had never responded...not even once. His life was gone ever since the day his love..his soulmate died.
Liz had a rush of feelings from Max through their connection. She felt what he had kept sealed in his broken heart for twenty years and almost felt like crying her heart out.
She kissed his lips. "I love you." And she wrapped her arms around him as she sat on his lap.
For many minutes she held him in her embrace, never letting go. How could she be so stupid? Max had always loved her, Max would always love her no matter what. All this time she wasted....she hated herself for it.
Max stiffened as he felt hot breath on his face. He hadn't felt things for years. He had been so alone in this white room, waiting to die...waiting to join his beloved in the next life.
Liz gently rested her head on his shoulder and began murmering a soft song to him. A song which reminded her of their love.

Several tears slid down Liz's cheek when she finished the song. Max hadn't moved a bit. She moved her head from under his chin and kissed him again with trembling lips. "Please forgive me." She whispered. "I love you so much."
All of a sudden the doors opened and in walked in Tess, smartly dressed in a blouse with a blazer and a very very short ass skirt followed by several of her gaurds including Micheal. All of them were armed. Doctors followed after her and they surrounded Max.
None of them seemed to notice Liz as Liz froze for a moment, holding onto her Max and refusing to let go...would they kill her if they saw her?
"Get started." Tess ordered the doctors who charged at Max with their medical equipment. Liz panicked. They couldn't see her but they would hurt Max.
"No Max." Liz whispered at she almost fell off him when they stood him up. His body was limp and he wasn't in control of his own muscles.
They lay Max down on the long seat and strapped him down. Max hadn't protested. Liz made her way towards him. She held Max's face in her hands. "I won't let them hurt you." She promised.
He looked at her direction, dazed.
They injected him with something. "Max!". Liz screamed.
The doctors whizzed past and began getting ready for the tests. Tess did this every night to make sure her mate..her destined mate would finally wake up to realise her..what her value was and then get her with child so they could pass on their kindgom to their heir. It had been twenty long agonising years and Tess' biological clock was ticking. She knew the procedures of artificial insemination but she wanted Max to get her pregnant himself, of his own will and she was one obsessed bitch.
Liz looked around to find something.
"He has been asleep for too long." Tess said softly as she stepped up towards him and stroked his hair. "It's time for him to wake up."
They pressed the button after they linked the wires to him and then increased the voltage level.
The electric currents shot through Max's veins, running through his entire system and became stronger that he began to scream in pain. It was a reflex action, something they had managed to acheive. But that was all. His screams of pain.
He wished for death and nothing else. Death..
"OH Max!". Liz sighed pushing past the doctors and then picking up a heart moniter. She had enough of this, she could no longer tolerate Max's screams of pain.
So she hauled the heart moniter at Tess. Wanting to shatter that bitch's head in pieces. Tess turned around to receive a flying object hit her face. She staggered back and the doctors turned off the equipment.
"What was that?". One of them asked as Tess fell on the floor with the machine burning up on her face.
Micheal cocked his gun. "I think somone is here." He said, getting in his protective mode. Ready to attack. With one simple wave, Tess removed the machine from her face and cleaned her face as if nothing happened.
"You idiots." She screeched, pointing at the doctors who cowered. They knew she had powers which could kill so they had no choice but to obey her.
"We're sorry." They apologized.
"You better be." Tess said as Micheal helped her up. She then threw blasts at the doctors. "Dumb humans!".
"I think it wasn't them." Micheal said, looking at Liz's direction. He couldn't see her, but his assasin skills was sharp. He traced the direction from where the heart moniter was thrown at.
He aimed the gun and fired. Liz jumped out the way so the bullet hit the wall but in defence she sent a blast which had them all on the floor. She had powers?
But there was no time to waste, she ripped the things off Max and then helped him up with all her strength. Micheal got up and aimed again. "You're going down!". He sneered and fired but then Liz managed to teleport so the bullet didn't hit neither her or Max.
Max and her were outside in the chilly dark night. Well away from the black building which was Tess's home.
"There you are." Alex voice came from behind her. He wasn't alone. Brody and Sean were standing with him.
"We need to get Max to safety." Liz answered and they all rushed to support her and Max.

Chpt ten
Present day.
Max kissed Liz's forehead when Maria and Alex left the room to call Riverdog. He, Maria and Alex were debating about what to do. Riverdog seemed to be the last resort.
She had still kept that pendant he had given to her, she loved him. Wearing the pendant was proof of that. He didn't need any other confirmation. His heart leapt with joy but at the same time he was scared sensless.
He was so frightened...he had never been so scared in his life like this before. It worried the crap out of him. "Please wake up Liz..please?". Max silently begged his soulmate to open her eyes.
Now she was cold, her skin was a little paler. Max was getting worried by the minute. "God..Liz...I know you must be hating me right now but I'd rather have you hate me then not wake up ever again." He truthfully told her. "Because if you don't ever wake up...I'll die Liz. I'm going to die if you don't wake up."
He rubbed her hand. "I'm not going to stop trying." He promised her. "Even after everything we've been through, I'll have my arms wide open for you, waiting for you to step inside my arms." He brought her fingers to his lips and softly kissed them.
"I love you."
Something happened. He had a feeling it happened last night. He had a sense of Deja Vu...had he been in this room last night? Something in his heart was telling him he was in this very room last night. With Liz...
Whispers of love floated into his mind, like the sea waves meeting the tide. It was inevitable.
"Max." Liz smiled and held him from pulling back. "This is supposed to happen. You and me, together..forever." She traced his lips with one finger. "And I don't think I can stand being apart from you any longer." She admitted, blushing. "In one moment..you got me addicted to you."
"And you know I feel the same way about you Max Evans. I love you so much and you're the only one I love too." She whispered.
"I need you to feel me." Liz gasped, taking his hand and placed it across her left breast where her heart was beating. "Feel me Max..I live for you."
Then nothing. It was all ripped away again into a huge black void. Max tried to force his mind to think..to recall those moments which were locked away in his pysche. He sat on that same spot where he had been last night night and put his hand on the place. Think Max..think! He forced himself.
Sqeeezing his eyes shut..he tried hard to remember...
And then the flashes came one by one...

Back to the parrallel world..
"Something needs to be done about that Tess." Liz growled in anger.
"Yeah you're right..let's kill her." Sean rubbed his hands.
Liz covered Max with the comforter and kissed his lips. He lay silently, eyes closed and shivered. He hadn't spoken a word much to Liz's dismay.
Lucky for her that Alex, Brody and Sean came in time to take them to a safer place. The UFO centre, beleive or not, she actually would never have imagined hiding out in the UFO centre which was now Brody and Sean's home. They had their own fitted bedrooms in the building including a guestroom which Liz was more then happy to share with Max.
"Killing Tess is not that easy." Brody told them. "She has delevoped her powers over the years as she aged."
"We need to combine our powers together to take her out." Liz forced. "I'm not having her ruining everything." She seethed. She was livid. Never had she seen such a villian in her life and it surprised her that Tess could even be so bad having no mercy even for the blatant innocent who had never caused her any harm at all.
"Still...she knows our weakeness. She's been studying Max as well as "healing" him." Alex said, gesturing the healing with two fingers of both hands.
"Bitch." Liz muttered. "Well...in this world I seem to have powers." Liz revealed. "From the timeline I'm in, I am human. I have no powers."
The three men exchanged glances and Brody looked at Liz, raising an eyebrow. "Must be the effect of crossing into our world or something has awakened in you."
"I think it's just an effect of being here. Just the static." Liz said. "Sometimes people can see me, sometimes they can't."
"That's the static effect." Alex told her. "From time to time, your visibility will be affected because you're underneath our sky. But the powers...they can either be awakened from within you or something more..I don't know." He shrugged. "Because you're right. You died a human here."
"So you're saying I'm some sort of superpowered ghost?". Liz suggested, finding the idea strange, odd and thrilling at the same time.
"Kind of but not exactly." Sean chimed in. "But you do look hot as either a human or a superpowered ghost." He teased.
"Sean." Liz rolled her eyes smiling. There was the Sean from her timeline, cheeky ass Sean.
"Anyway let's get some sleep." Brody said. "It's late and we need all the energy we can get if we're going up against Tess tommorow."
If she managed to defeat Tess, then maybe she would be able to get home Liz assumed. Maybe this was her mission, to realise what Tess really was and to stop her in this world so she could gain the abilities to stop her in her world. It began to make sense now.
And to do that, she needed to conserve energy. She was tired from all the wondering and running around for today.
"Yeah." Liz nodded taking off her shoes and slipping under the sheets next to her Max. "Let's get some sleep."
They put the light off and left her room, closing the door behind them. Liz wrapped her arms around Max and snuggled
closer to him.
"Let's hope you wake up tommorow Max." She kissed his cheek before falling into a deep slumber.

Present day..
"So that's it..you know nothing about it?". Max asked Riverdog.
"I know nothing more then that." Riverdog spoke wisely. "The symbol on the pendant signifies protection and spiritual guidance in your alien world."
"But if it's supposed to be protecting her then why is she unconcious still!". Max yelled. "What the hell is it doing to her and why?".So many questions were running through Max's head right now and all of them concerned Liz, was his Liz going to wake up? Was she going to wake up being the same Liz he had loved and known?
"I beleive she is going through a little journey right now." Riverdog answered. "She is at the stage where she is confused..where she requires a lot of help to understand her surroundings and to battle evil.."
"Battle evil?". Maria snorted. "Please, she's just a human..we all are apart from Max. Why Liz?".
"Because she wears the pendant. She is the bearer of the pendant." Riverdog answered. "The pendant had chosen it's owner and since it's Liz, only the pendant can decide what to do and when to do it. There's nothing more we can do except sit and wait till Liz's journey is over."
"No." Max answered stubbornly. "I'm not going to wait till something bad happens to her. Who knows what the pendant is doing to her!, I have to connect with her! I have to bring her back!".
"There is a way.." Riverdog told them. "But it requires a lot of strength and your mind may be heavy after it all."
"I'll willing to do whatever it takes to bring Liz back." Max said, now that he knew the entire truth, he was even more fuelled to save his Liz from whatever darkness she was pulled into.
