Author's note: I thought I'd never write a vampire fic ever. I'm a huge twilight fan but that's not the reason I'm writing this story. I was making a banner one day for fun and that's how the story was born. Okay I am also nervous about posting this just like my other fic. Hope you guys enjoy this.

Prologue

2006, July

Slamming the doors shut, she ran down the hall with a fast beating heart. The beast was pounding the doors, throwing them down like falling dominoes. She panted as she climbed up the stairs. Her hands gripped the cold metal bars which helped her to make her way up the stairs. Her legs were too weak.

All she could think of was the snarling pack of beasts hunting her down. It was time, he said. Time for her to realise what needed to be done. For a sixteen year old to out run super beasts was unlikely.

She hoped if she had died, it would be a quick death.

The door broke with one nudge and she found herself on the helipad on top of the building. There was no where to run anymore. It was either to jump or to get killed by those beasts.

The wind whipped her dark strands of hair around her face, obstructing her vision. It didn't take them long to catch up. One by one they poured through the door. Shoulders were hunched, fangs were shown and the eyes were vicious.

It felt like a prey's last moment before the predator killed them. They could hear the sound of her beating heart and they licked their lips. She definitely had sweet blood.

They spoke to each other in a different language before turning their eyes back on the frightened young teenager. She wasn't there.

How the hell did she disappear?

Their questions were answered as one of them yelped as they were thrown off the building. The female vampire elongated her nails ready to scratch the girl to dead.

"Get her!"

The rest of them grabbed the girls' arms and held her back. The woman traced the girl's lips with her nail and lightly grazed them over her heart. "You won't feel a thing." She lied.

Rasing her hand back ready for the kill, the girl struggled against the grips of the beasts and then with one sheer force of energy pushed them off her.

There was a bright light which blinded them all. The female woman screamed as her eyes burned away with the light the girl emitted. "My eyes!"

Placing a hand on the head of the woman, the girl bravely stopped her life force and let the woman fall lifeless on the ground. The males got up and staggered, they might have been blind but can sense the blood from the girl. It was very strong and sweet.

Grabbing a metal pole on the floor, the girl dodged out of the way and used her strength to kill most of them. Her energy flowed through the metal as a conductor and destroyed those monsters. One of them were left and they could sense their own defeat.

Turning towards the door, the vampire tried to run but the girl, kicked up a sharper piece of metal placed some of her energy into it and threw it at the fleeing monster in one swift motion; stabbing the beast in the heart.

Once they were all down, it finally dawned on her that she alone had killed them. The feeling that surged through her mind.. she felt like she was on top of the world.

She couldn't believe it.

It really felt good. Like she had the domineering power.

It didn't take long for a flash of light to appear from nowhere and came a bald man. Kal Lagely with a smile on his lips. He looked very proud and approached the young girl.

"Well done Elizabeth. You have passed the test."

Chapter One


Two years later…

The ebony coals soaked up the crackling fire, whispering in flames as he glided smoothly through the marble room. A fine cigarette lined between his lips, it didn’t effect him like it affected them. He was stronger, more primal and had the ability to strike out the threats which humans spend centauries trying to adapt.

Idiots.

They were designed to be the prey; Weaklings only good for their intelligence. But intelligence was like a needle in a haystack. He never understood the human race, he didn’t think he had any desire to.

He was in charge of a whole empire. After building up his own clan of fellow beings such as himself, to lead a life of their own away from the human race. He wasn’t their enemy but nor was he their friend.

He didn’t have a home like most beings like him.

That was his flaw. He was everywhere. Nothing kept him grounded and he wasn’t looking for anyone to hold him down while his soul craved freedom.

His lust was non existent. He had never lusted. They had lusted for him.

Still he would not settle for second best. A part of him knew that someone was out there, someone much powerful then himself who held the key to his heart.

He feared of meeting that person. He was scared of the emotions that would run through his very blood once he met that person. Would he become a different person?

This time he was spending the night in his study. The castle he had inherited from his former master. Don Nasedo , A strong leader but who died at the hands of their real enemies; The demons.

There was a war brewing between the dark beings, such fearsome to the point that trusting ones own was even futile.

A pale strawberry blonde entered the room. “Max.” She whispered. Her dark green eyes shimmering with her inability to remain strong as them.

He rose up from the chair and collected her in his arms. “Don’t worry Maria, I will find that cure for you.”

Whether he had to break his back to save his one true friend, he would even kill to save her and he knew that he will find the cure himself.

Liz checked her watch. She had waited for half an hour in the busy airport waiting to reunite with her long time friend. Kyle had offered to go with her and was busy buying cups of hot creamy latte.

“Kyle I think I’ve had my share of latte.” Liz said; half frustrated. She had shopping to deal with since she had moved in with her other best friend Michael. The apartment needed some work and here she was waiting for her friend to show up.

She hated airports now.

A woman had almost barrelled into them with her huge trolley full of beastly luggage shaped like heavy boulders. People seemed to forget their manners in an airport which pissed Liz off. If they weren’t humans, she could have kicked their asses.

“Fair enough darling.” Kyle shrugged; about to drink his fourth cup of latte until a bouncy blond was seen headed their way. She definitely caught his eyes. “Who is that hot chick?” He asked, momentarily forgetting the hot latte in his hands.

“Lizzie bear!” The curly blond threw herself at Liz, squealing with utter happiness that she had finally seen her friend.

“Hey Tess.” Liz patted her on the back and returned the smiled. “About time don’t ya think?”

Tess pulled back and gave Liz a kiss on the cheek. “Sweetie pie I missed you lots and damn your hair style is so beautiful.”

“Yeah.” Liz nodded.

“Sorry about the delay. I thought they lost my luggage.” Tess pointed at the two baby pink wheeled suitcases.

“So that’s why.” Liz nodded, amused. “Next time, remind me not to fly.” She laughed at Kyle.

Kyle caught Tess’ eyes. He was incredibly cute. “Oooh is this the man I’m going to be roommates with?” Tess inquired. She’d make the most out of their time together, oh yes she would.

“Yep that would be Kyle Valenti.” Liz smiled, happy that Tess was already interested in him. “Kyle this is my fifth grade friend, Tess Harding.”

They shook hands. “Nice to meet you.”

“I would defo say so.” Kyle winked.

Tess blushed.

“Shall we?” Liz hated to interrupt the moment and Kyle handed the latte to Tess.

“For you.”

“Oh thanks.” Tess accepted the latte.

Kyle took the luggage as they walked out of the airport and Liz led them to her car.

Once they were on the highway, Tess was watching out of the window and admired the city of New York. “Oh this is so beautiful.” She gasped.

“Yeah that’s New York for you.” Kyle spoke.

“Back in home, I was restricted to countryside.” Tess said. “You know how boring that can be when you’re just a teenager.”

“Well I’d say you will love New York.”

The rest of the journey was spent with Tess telling Liz and Kyle about her experiences on the countryside.

“Okay home sweet home.” Kyle pushed the door open as he dragged in Tess’ stuff.

The girls followed him into his apartment.

“I can’t believe we’re all going to the same university together!” Tess squealed. “This is so going to be like friends!” Tess jumped up and down. “I’m Phoebe and you’re Rachel.” She told Liz. “Kyle can be Joey.”

“But Phoebe and Joey don’t end up together.” Kyle pouted. “How about Monica and Chandler?”

Liz rolled her eyes. “You guys will definitely have a great time together.”

After helping with Tess settle in and helping Michael with their apartment, Liz decided to take a small nap in front of the TV.

Little did that help when the phone rang.

“Hello?”

“Liz, it’s Kal. Looks like there’s been a breach. A vampire is on the loose.”

Chapter Two

A ferocious howl hissed out of the beast as they pinned down their prey onto the asphalt. Fangs were bared about to sink into the tender flesh of a mere weakling until her voice triumphed over his hungry call.

"Let him go." Her voice, firm and harsh which warned the beast.

Alas, she was always there in the nick of time. He smirked and released the clueless human who staggered onto their two feet and stumbled out of the darkness. The beast slowly turned around, allowing her to get a glimpse of it's red eyes. "The Angel herself."

There was no doubt of the acid and venom present in his tone. She was a big threat to him which he would be elated to kill.

"Nice to see you too Tyver." She was amused of their recent meetings and found it funny of his unlimited hatred towards her kind.

"You angels are nothing but a pain in the ass." He growled.

"And you Satan’s bitches are nothing but a pain in the ass." She retorted taking a step forward.

"At least we have free will." He grinned, laughing inwardly at the irony of angels. God didn't trust them enough to give them free will whereas he had all the liberty he wanted.

"Why are you doing this to yourself? You're just a pathetic lonely piece of shit who can't find where he belongs." She mocked him, knowing what was in his mind. "Killing people may make you feel powerful but you're going to burn forever."

"I'd rather burn then spare you angels." He spat. "I waited for this a long time." He hissed and without warning lunged at her.

Just when he thought he crushed her in his arms, she disappeared in blue light and appeared behind him. "It's a lot difficult then that."

"Urghhh!" He charged towards her, reading to bite her flesh with his razor sharp teeth but all he caught was metal in his mouth. She held a pole in his jaw and forced him to remain still with her powers.

"I'm getting really tired of this." She rolled her eyes as she controlled him like a dog. "Sit boy."

He was forced to the ground, humiliated. "Now I don't know what the fuck god put in your steroids bitch but I will kill you like I've killed those other so called angels."

This caught Liz's attention. "You killed others of my kind?"

"Yeah, I spent centauries killing those winged bitches. I'm not going to let some girly angel kill me now."

"Maybe you have, but you will not succeed over me."

Liz pressed her hand on the back of his head but a couple of vampires as his back up jumped on top of her. Liz was thrown against the wall with two vampires snapping at her.

Tyver rose to his feet, happy that he hadn't died at the hands on an angel tonight. Liz was hoisted on her feet and held back by the two vampires as Tyver approached her. "I heard that the blood of an angel will be the biggest gift anyone can have; Anyone like me that is." He snarled.

"You won't get any."

His fangs pointed out. "I'm hungry tonight and I want my Angel delight." Leaning in towards her neck, He bit but screamed in pain when he realised her skin was impenetrable.

She tried to hold back her laughter and watched his broken teeth fall to the floor. The other vampires cried out in agony and let her go. Liz shot out a bright light and killed those two vampires but lost sight of Tyver.

"Damn." She cursed.

Tyver always seemed to get away.

Micheal tensed up and relaxed as soon as Liz walked through the door. "Liz!" He sprang up from his chair, rushed to her and swooped her up in his arms. "Oh man, I was so worried about you."

"Hey Mike." Liz smiled as she was in her best friend's arms. "I'm fine."

Micheal slowly put her back on her two feet. "You okay sweetie?" He hated it when she had to fight vampires in the middle of the night. He wished she had a normal life of a normal girl. It's what she deserved.

"I am really. It's just Tyver again." Liz shrugged. "A thorn in my path."

At the mention of his name, Micheal gritted his teeth. "I hate that motherfucker." He snapped. "I wish I can pop some bullets into him and watch him die."

"Well you can't because he's immortal." Liz grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge. "Well the good news is that he won't be biting anyone soon."

"Why's that?"

"Well let's just say my skin is tough." Liz put the bottle back into the fridge.

Michael’s eyes were wide as he jumped to the conclusion. "He bit you?"

"Tried to." Liz shrugged.

Michael’s face contorted and his breath hitched. "So if you had been able to get bitten, he could have killed you Liz!"

"Micheal...he can't bite me." Liz replied coolly.

"You know you really need to be careful." Micheal pouted. "I only have one girl in the world whose close enough to being a sister to me and I can't afford to lose her."

"As much as I'm touched Micheal, this is my destiny. Yes I will get bitten here and there but they can't hurt me."

"Liz."

"Micheal, I know what I'm doing. I've had lessons of practice. Kal taught me well."

"I'm just saying, you're only eighteen and about to start uni. You should be out there having fun, not slaying beasts for a living."

"We're not having this conversation again." Liz folded her arms. "Micheal please."

"Alright fine." Micheal relented. "But don't blame me if I jump in front of a bullet for you."

"You won't have to."

Micheal snorted at the irony. "Yeah cuz you have impenetrable. skin and I don't."

"Precisely."

"We have lost two of our men, my prince." The dark haired woman, Megan announced, holding a clipboard against her chest.

"How?" Max inquired, he had known he had a few members loose but not mad enough to betray him.

"Looks like there is another new vampire in town." Megan said and looked at the doorway. "You may reveal yourself."

The vampire walked inside the room to let Max see him. "I heard you was the prince of this coven." He sneered.

Max narrowed his eyes. He could smell the hatred burning in the vampires mind. So much corruption and rage. It would be easy to control this vampire through manipulation but nevertheless this vampire was strong; Very strong.

"Who are you?" Max asked firmly, his tone already showing his dominance.

"I am a fellow vampire." He replied with his red eyes shining into a green color. "Actually I am of a higher rank of vampires." He took another step forward.

"How so?"

"103 Angels. All pure bred males."

Max raised an eyebrow. "Angels?"

"You see angels are our biggest threat. THEY are our enemies more then the demons."

"You cost me the lives of both my men." Max reminded him. "Who is to say you're not the enemy."

"Two vampires for the price of the whole blood sucking race is a price to pay." He replied.

Oh this guy was good, Max had to give him that. "What is your obsession with angels?"

"I hate them." He replied. "They hunt us."

Max looked at Megan who nodded earnestly. "It's true sir. Our history includes us being severed ruthlessly by angels."

"What do you want?"

"I want us to fight against the angels together." He hissed and showed Max his broken teeth. "An angel ruined my fangs tonight." The agony was evident in his voice.

Max was surprised. "You tried to bite an angel." He was amused. As far he was concerned, angels were beings of light not flesh. No wonder this stupid vampire paid the price with his teeth.

"She was...challenging."

"She?" Max's ears perked up. "I thought you said pure bred males."

"No." He shook his head. "Looks like god's plans are changing, he's making female angels these days."

"They must be very strong then." Megan commented, looking at the broken teeth of the new vampire.

Tyver hissed. "Which is why we need to fight them together."

Max thought about it. His coven was never a threat to the human race and they didn't have this problem before. But on the other hand, he was the leader of his coven and this new vampire was just a nobody.

Max knew he would not be good for his coven. "I'll think about it." He lied. "But in the meantime, stay away from us and mind your own business."

Tyver frowned. "Better make a choice fast prince, otherwise I'll just kill them myself. Starting with the girl."

"Good luck with that." Max smirked and looked once again at the broken teeth.

"It'll grow back in three weeks." Tyver hissed and then decided to leave.

Max turned to his secretary. "Megan, see him out."

"Yes my prince."

Max closed his eyes. If there were really angels on the streets maybe he could beg them to save Maria's life. But who knew if that would cost their lives in the process?

Either way, they were all screwed.

A/N: Hey I know you guys very eager to see Max and Liz meet, so I hope you enjoy this chapter.

Chapter Three

Max gazed at the huge color stained glass and the dark silver statues. The scent of lit candles danced in the air with the soft notes of the piano the priest was playing. The hollow church was empty and he had found himself walking through the big oak doors of the church. He was new to this vicinity because he felt like an invader here.

The priest stopped playing and looked at Max who had reached the altar. "May I help you my son?"

Max took a deep breath. "I've come to seek answers."

"You have come to the right place my child." The priest smiled, removed himself from the piano and made his way to Max.

"I am not worthy of being on the holy grounds." Max said through gritted teeth as his eyes fell on a statue of a female angel. "But I've heard your angels have the power to destroy."

"To destroy evil yes." The priest nodded. "They are guardians and protect the innocent."

"So they have a licence to kill." Max's tone was a little incredulous.

"To protect the innocent, yes."

Max pressed his lips together but couldn't conceal the fangs that were sporting now. The priest blinked and noticed the fangs. "Oh lord." He realised who he was actually talking to. "Get out of here you evil creature!" He backed away in horror.

The beast in Max was raged by the priest’s behaviour. He hated being called evil. He could see the disgust leaking out of the priest and it angered him to a great degree. Raising a hand, he gave a powerful slap to the priest which made him collapse.

Max's fury quickly disappeared when he realised he knocked out a priest. Worried, Max looked around before dragging the priest to the back room.

He was about to leave but heard someone enter the church. Max froze. His eyes darted everywhere until he sought the confession booth. That would do he thought and hid in there.

She didn't usually go to church. She believed in god and angels but had no defined religion. But something was eating away at her and she had to speak to someone wise. So it was the confession for her.

Entering the confession booth, Liz braced herself before speaking. "Are you there?" She said in a shaky breath, the guilt was getting to her.

Max was enamoured by the voice. He could feel the innocence laced in the woman's tone. "Yes." He replied.

"I have a confession to make." She closed her eyes and leant back.

"Go on."

Liz blinked, this priest's voice seemed deeper then on the phone. Was this even the right priest? But who cared, she needed to unburden herself. "I have faith in god. Strong faith...but lately..." She chuckled nervously. "I think I've been straying a little."

Max tried not to scoff. This woman's faith was stronger then anything he'd ever felt before in his entire life it scared him. He could feel her goodness everywhere. She was unnecessarily doubting herself. "I think you must realise that having faith in yourself isn't a sin."

"I have found out something terrible from some-one." Liz spoke again. "Some fact which makes me angry and lessen my faith in god."

"You're only human." Max replied. Who was this woman? Why did he feel the need to comfort her?

Laughing a little, Liz grinned. "Oh god this is stupid." The situation itself made her feel nervous. Max savoured the sound of her voice in his ears.

"It's not stupid." His voice was gentle and very persuading which surprised Liz.

"What should I do?"

"Just believe in yourself." Max said softly.

"I haven't lost anything yet." Liz admitted. "But I'm afraid, I have this feeling that I might lose something so precious to me or vice versa."

Max gulped. He and this woman seemed to have a lot in common but he didn't even know her. He was happy that someone was feeling what he was feeling, which reduced his loneliness a little. "We all feel like that." Max told her. "But the truth is, our loved ones will always be with us in our heart. No matter what."

Max couldn't believe he was saying this. He knew the answers all along. "Yes, I guess so." Liz nodded and flicked her eyes to the barrier between them. Although they couldn't see each other that well, she peered through the tiny holes and noticed the jaw line of her priest. It was strong and defined.

He was young.

Max looked at the same time and noticed a pair of dark chocolate eyes. So deep and soulful he realised.

Before Liz could say anything, the phone rang and she pulled back. Max immediately lost sight of those beautiful eyes of hers. Liz answered the phone and quickly excused herself from the confession booth and the church.

Max slowly stepped out, breathing in the scent of her.

He surely wanted to meet her again.

"So are we on?" A wide awake Tess chirped.

Liz blinked as she looked away from the TV. "Are we on what?"

Tess' eyes were wide as saucers. "Well you know clubbing tonight...Liz...where have you been for the past hour?" Tess was shocked, she had been doing all the talking for one whole hour while Liz was soaking up the news from the TV.

"Sorry, I'm just a bit...blacked out." Liz shrugged.

"Well honey, don't worry about it." Tess answered. "I don't mind you zoning out on me but I'm just concerned. Are you alright?" Tess' brows came together.

"I'm fine." Liz yawned. "So you want to go to a club tonight?"

"Well yeah since I was locked away in the country farm all my adolescence right up to now."

Liz let out a deep sigh and crossed her legs in an Indian style on her couch. "I'm so sorry Tess, things have been just so fast lately."

Tess nodded. "I know, I know. Me suddenly coming here and then suddenly finishing high school. You're just starting a new chapter in your life. I get it."

Liz smiled. "You are like totally understanding."

"Hey that's what friends are for." Tess shrugged. "I mean when you spend your teens growing up and making friends with the horses in the stables, I guess you tend to be more understanding."

Liz laughed at Tess' words. "You're so funny. I like it."

Tess started to laugh with Liz and told her about her funny little countryside moments causing Liz to laugh more.

Micheal walked in the room and noticed Liz laughing, probably one of the first times. He stopped and smiled. He had rarely seen Liz laugh. Tess was a great addition to their group and just what Liz needed. Maybe Tess would ease Liz back into the average girl's world.

"Micheal." Liz noticed and her laughter slowly died down. "Hey, didn't see you there."

"Eh I just got Pizza for us to share." He held three boxes of pizza up.

"Oh pizza, yes!" Tess smiled. "Thank god it's not shepherd’s pie for once." Tess bounced off the sofa and ran towards Micheal.

"Two chicken and one vegetable." Micheal answered Tess before she would ask the question.

"Oh I love you already." Tess kissed his cheek as well as taking the pizza and bringing it to where she was Liz were sitting before.

Tess opened a box and helped herself to some cheesy Pizza. "So Micheal, you coming to the club tonight too?"

"Club?"

"Yes he is." Liz answered.

"Which one?" Micheal decided to join the girls.

"Wings." Liz replied dully and Tess snorted.

"Wings?" Tess mumbled with pizza in her mouth.

"Yeah, Wings is very popular." Micheal took a pizza slice. "The guy who owned it said..flying makes you free so you know therefore while clubbing your ass off, you're free...ahh that sort of thing."

Tess mused. "Ah that's cool. Well they used to have a little club in a barn called Muddy Padduck." Tess laughed. "It was awful. There were actually ducks there."

"And mud." Micheal laughed.

"Yeah, how did you know?" Tess snorted.

Liz picked up a pizza slice. "Well I take it that wings will be your first official clubbing experience then Tess."

"You betcha."

The night was colourful inside the club, everyone's bodies were humming to the beating electric sounds and Tess almost had a heart attack as soon as she stepped inside with her short pink dress on. "Am I fit for this occasion?" She asked, looking around.

"Honey, this club is the bomb and so are you." Kyle patted her back. "Now why don't you and I try the dance floor out?"

"Now that sounds like a great idea." Tess nodded. Kyle took her hand and lead her to the dance floor before Micheal or Liz could say anything.

"There goes our two lovebirds." Micheal commented, looking at the direction where Kyle and Tess took off.

"Yeah." Liz smiled. "I think they make a cute couple."

"I need a girlfriend." Micheal muttered as he lead Liz to the bar.

"I thought you had one?"

"She was...ahh too much into piercings." Micheal frowned. "You know I'm not a fan of that shit."

Liz nodded slowly and grinned. "Yeah, she scared you off."

Once they ordered their drinks, Micheal spoke again. "I like girls who are smooth you know stiletto wearing hot sexy and...it just turns me on. Girls with heels, not with a pierced clit and tits pierced together."

"Ew..." Liz almost choked on her drink. "She really did that?" She asked in shock, looking at Micheal.

Micheal rolled his eyes. "Trust me, you don't know half of the things she did Liz. It was fucking awful."

Back on the dance floor, Kyle and Tess were swaying together and laughing. "You're such a good dancer." Tess complimented Kyle.

"I'm also.." Kyle dipped Tess. "A good kisser." He laced his fingers in her hair.

"Are you?" Her voice was smooth and she slowly closed her eyes as she anticipated a kiss.

Kyle lowered his lips on hers and kissed her softly. At the end of their kiss he helped her back up to her feet again. Tess was breathless. She just had her first kiss right here. "Oh my god.." She smiled. "That was amazing."

Grinning in pride, Kyle nodded. "There's plenty more of that where it came from." He winked.

"I'm so lucky." Tess whispered and leaned forward to share a kiss with him again but the music blasted loudly through the speakers and the crowd became wild, pushing her back and away from Kyle.

Tess yelped as she almost stumbled onto her back; panicking as she lost sight of Kyle. Kyle opened his eyes and noticed Tess wasn't in front of him anymore. "Tess?"

Feeling a pair of strong hands grab her wrist, Tess found herself dragged outside and pushed up against an alley wall. "You look so sexy." The voice growled, fondling her breasts with one hand and rubbing their erection with the other. "I'm going to fuck you right here."

The guy was perverted and sick. Tess felt scared and tried to struggle out of the stranger's grip.

He reached under her dress and brushed his fingers against her panties. "Hot." He hissed. "You naughty naive girl."

Four others joined them and Tess screamed for help, hoping that one of them would save her from this pervert. "Don't worry, they'll make you feel good too." The stranger said calming and pinched her. Tess yelped.

She noticed a woman was with the three guys. Oh god...they seriously weren't going to do this were they?

"No..." She panted with tears in her eyes. Couldn't that woman understand her feelings at all?

"Oh she will lick you all over that you'll be left wanting more..." He sneered. "You see her tongue is like a snake. Slithering.." He stroked her lightly. "And tightening.." He hissed.

Tess pressed her thighs together, hoping the guy would remove his hand between them. Looking at them, they all hard sharp teeth...like an animal....

"What the?"

A flash of light appeared out of nowhere, taking three of them out at once. The guy who was touching her was no longer standing. He was lying on the ground like a dead man. Tess didn't know whether to scream or kick the guy's guts although he was dead.

The woman faced her and Tess could see Liz standing behind her.

Liz placed her hand on the woman's head and took her out like a light bulb. The woman fell to the floor lifeless. Now there was only one of them left.

He ran towards Liz who elbowed him in the face so when his fangs came into contact with her elbow, they shattered like shards of glass and he screamed in pain.

Liz rushed towards him and took him out just like she had done with the rest of them. She looked at Tess who was still pale. "How did you do that?" She asked Liz.

Chapter Four


"So you're...an angel of god?" Tess whispered, still unable to believe it.

They drove back to Kyle's apartment who was furious at himself for not being able to protect Tess right on the dance floor. Liz had explained everything there to Tess with the help of Kyle and Micheal who already knew and that shocked Tess.

"Yes, I'm what you would called an earth angel, assigned to help protect humans against threats like vampires."

Tess's eyes gleamed with amazement. "My best friend an angel.." She couldn't believe it. "That is so like an honor...serving god and killing what ever those things were." She cringed in terror. They were disgusting beasts and she never wanted to see them again.

"Welcome to the club Tess."

"Thank you."

Tess looked at the boys. "You guys knew about this the whole time?"

Micheal and Kyle exchanged glances. "Well yeah, we hang out with the girl so yeah we know." Micheal answered.

Tess laughed a little. "Wow...this is like so cool. Amazing."

"Well it's getting late now and you guys need your sleep." Liz got up.

Tess ran to Liz and hugged her. "Thanks for saving my life." She whispered. "I owe you one."

"No you don't." Liz corrected her. "It's my duty."

"I love you." Tess let a few tears escape from her eyes. Liz, her only best friend had saved her life tonight. It meant so much to her that she couldn't express how she felt.

"Love you too." Liz hugged her back. "Take care of yourself."

Tess nodded. "I have my own angel to protect me." She giggled. "Literally."

Liz smiled. "Come on Micheal." She released Tess and went to say bye to Kyle.

Once they left, Tess turned to Kyle with a grin on her face. "Wow!"

Max almost roared on hearing the betrayal of some of his members. Megan hated reporting such stuff to him, rage was one thing Max would conceal but once unleashed, it was terrifying.

He hated that some of his vampires gave into their taste for human blood and wanted to play dirty with their food before drinking them. "Are they dead?"

"Yes." Megan lowered her eyes.

"Good." Max gritted his teeth. It was painful losing members of your own coven but harder to cope with when someone else killed them. Max would never be able to forgive them for breaking the most important rule in his coven. Never to drink human blood.

That was Nasedo's weakness and as much as Max had admired him, he strongly believed that preying on the human was a utter sin. For they at some point were human once. He knew that blood was their water to survive on but he would never allow himself or his coven to drink human blood.

"It seems to me sir that if you allow them to choose what they des-" Before Megan could finish her speech, Max cut her off.

"No one is going to feast on human blood, end of story." He snapped.

Megan hid back in her shell again. "Yes my prince."

"Go back to your quarters." Max ordered.

Without another word, Megan retreated back and Max decided to check up on Maria. His heart broke when he saw her agitated state. Here she was lying in the bed, pale as a ghost and beads of sweat rolling down her forehead. He hated it that there was nothing he could do for her.

He had resisted breaking his rule many times before but caved in. He had found bags of human blood in the blood bank and let Maria drink them. Animal blood wasn't helping her at all, the iron was much too less. The human blood seemed to help a little bit but it wasn't long before Maria returned back to her illness again.

"M-M--max.." She whispered weakly and slowly turned her face to see him. "Is that you?" Her vision blurry with watering eyes.

"Yes it's me, Maria." Max replied.

He had met Maria the first week of his vampire hood. He didn't remember his human life but she had treated him well and welcomed him into the world he was so used to now. They had a relationship close to family and they meant a lot to each other. Max had lost Nasedo who had seemed like a father to him and now he was loosing his sister too.

"I'm dying." She croaked.

"No you're not."

"Nothing can save me." She laughed bitterly. "I think I should tell you how much I love you before I die."
Max's lips trembled. He was feeling like a human. He knew that he would and he often cried in his bedroom alone. Maria was right. She was going to die. Human blood wasn't the cure. He tried everything and was at his wit's end. He was going to end up alone just like Nasedo. No family left to enjoy life with, no family to share happiness and sorrow with.

He was cursed.

Liz's lips were a thin line as she digested everything Kal told her. "Looks like we have our own coven in this city, drinking up people or about to drink them up like a cup of coffee."

"I am killing them." Liz said.

"I know but we can't be too late." Kal told her. "We need to find the root of the problem and eradicate that first."

Liz remembered something and then looked at her trainer. "Kal, Tyver said he killed angels before." She paused. "Is that true?"

Kal stopped pacing up and down as Liz's question passed through his ears. "Yes." He answered with regret. That ugly truth held a sore spot for him.

"Can he kill me?" Liz inquired curiously.

"I don't know Liz." Kal said. "You have the power equivalent to an arch angel. You are very powerful and nothing like the evil has seen before."

"So the other angels were just.."

"Plain angels." Kal said. "The lord sent them to do what you're doing now, but of course some of them died."

"Why?" Liz asked. "Shouldn't god save his angels?"

"It was all god's plan." Kal shrugged. "Maybe because their faith in god was fading away."

Liz gasped. All this time her faith in god was strong and so was she. Maybe faith was her strength. "I think I know why now."

"Liz, you're trust worthy. I think that's why god chose you." Kal grabbed his coat. "You just need to keep that faith in god."

There was a small silence between Liz and Kal.

Liz nodded. "Okay back to the case, how do I get to the root?"

Kal looked at Liz's dark hair and her dark brown eyes before smiling. "Camouflage."

"I look so stupid." Liz pouted in the mirror, not feeling the loose blonde curls and the green eyes that sparkled back at her.

Tess cooed over Liz's new look. "Liz, you look like a sexy model. Quit complaining and just see the sex fiend that you're supposed to be." Tess giggled.

"I think it's cool." Kyle folded his arms.

Micheal didn't say anything but Liz knew his thoughts. "Micheal?"

"Yeah cool." Micheal muttered. Tess looked at Kyle who then looked at Micheal.

"Man, she can handle it." Kyle told Micheal. "They won't notice anyway."

Micheal gave Liz a long hard stare. "You're right, they won't notice." Was all he said before leaving the room.

"I personally feel sick that you have to be among those disgusting creatures." Tess told Liz. "Dirty blood sucking leeches they are."

Liz laughed. "Yes and I'm going to kill them."

"Yes you will." Kyle nodded. "Hey maybe you can leave some to me so I can give them a piece of my mind."

"Yeah me too." Tess agreed, after last night's events she held nothing but contempt for all vampires in her heart. Disgusting vile creatures they were to her and nothing else more.

"Well, I think I'm done."

Tess ran and brought out Liz's suitcase. "I can't believe you know where they live and everything."

"Kal is a genius." Liz said and then looked at her friends. "I'm really going to miss you guys."

Tess was the first to break down and throw her arms around Liz. "I'm going to miss you like crazy too sweetie!"

Micheal came back in the room and hugged Liz like no tomorrow. "Our home will seem like a prison without you there." He said in her ear. "But I know you will come back to me, to us."

"You know I will." Liz promised.

Chapter Five

Pouring the blood into the glass, Megan grabbed a bottle of baileys and added it to the mix. "And that my gentlemen is our screaming orgasm."

She handed them the martini glasses each. "Perfect." One of them smiled.

"Perhaps human blood would..."

"You know we can't." Megan replied smoothly, stirring the olive into her drink. "The prince has forbidden it."

"What about that new vampire? Tybalt or whatever his name is?"

"The boss told us not to talk with him." Megan replied. "He's not good."

"We're not good either." Another one of them grinned.

"Maybe."

"There's someone at the gates." One of them noticed as they peered out of the window. The rest of them got up and looked out of the window.

"Hang on, I'll be right back. One of you go call the prince." Megan said.

Once she was outside near the stony fountain, she came face to face with an unknown blonde. "Yes?" Megan narrowed her eyes at the intruder.

Liz looked at Megan. She was petite, tanned and had black hair. Anyone would have passed her off as human but Liz could smell the blood oozing from her. The smell of blood lingered from her lips and Megan's eyes were a deep maroon red as soon as the sunlight hit it.

"I'm here to join the coven." She stated. "I believe your leader's name is Zan."

Megan frowned in suspicion as her eyes met Liz's emerald ones, not saying anything else she lead Liz into the huge castle like mansion where they were met with Megan's friends who circled Liz in the huge entrance hall.

"Well well well." The red head guy took a sniff. "What do we have here?"

"A new vampire by the looks of it." Megan shrugged.

"Very beautiful." Another one of them slurred. "So blonde and so sexy."

Liz cringed. "I've come here to meet Zan." She urged. "Maybe if you would lead me to him.." She insisted but came face to face with the red head guy.

"Listen doll, no one get's past us without a trial ok? You want to meet our prince you must first prove yourself strong enough to join this coven. We don't accept weaklings." He sneered. "And you my dear, you look like a weakling. We can't afford stupidity.”

Instead of laughing, Liz remained still with a grim look on her face. Her lips were sealed tight and her eyes burned with anger as if to show she was being offended by them.

"Maybe she is wild in the bed?" The Spanish vampire shrugged.

"You turn back." The red head continued. "Do not show your face ag-" He cried out in pain as Liz suddenly grabbed his arm and twisted it behind his back.

She pressed herself behind him and whispered harshly in his ear. "You tell what to do one more time, I will rip you from limb to limb and feed you to your own friends bitch, you got that?"

Baffled by her sudden move, he nodded feebly in agreement and she pushed him to the ground. However, Megan's friends did not like the move she had made and began to attack her.

Liz with her dominant senses knew which way they were coming to attack and was mentally as well as physically prepared for their attacks. One by one she knocked them to the ground but Megan decided to stay back and observe; this girl was good she thought.

The last one was thrown at the foot of the stairs where Max was slowly descending down from holding a glass of red wine in his hands. "Now that's what you call strong." Max applauded, Megan ran to his side and took the wine glass that he didn't want anymore.

"Sir, I can explain.." She began but he stalled her.

His eyes were on Liz who felt like he was undressing her with his eyes and tried hard not to stare at him. "Tell me...what is your name beautiful one?"

Liz's brows furrowed together as she tried to remember the false name she came up with. For some odd reason, it didn't come to her as fast as she had expected. "Claudia." She quickly said as that was the first name that popped up in her mind.

"I'm Claudia." She repeated and this time looked directing into Max's molten golden eyes.

Max took one look at Liz. She was beautiful. He felt like he saw her before and her beauty was such a sight to behold. "I'm Zan but you can call me Max as it is my birth name."

Megan inhaled sharply; he never let them call him by his real first name or by Zan ever. How dare he let a complete stranger call him by his first name. It pissed her off.

"Hello Max." Liz slowly said. "It would be an honor to join your coven." She lied. It would do me the great honor of killing you and your whole coven, she thought.

"No." He shook his head.

"No?" She repeated his word in confusion.

"It would be my pleasure to have you in my coven."

Tess lay in Kyle's arms that night as her mind was still racing with questions. How long had Liz been an angel? How long had she killed those monsters? Where they afraid of her? How was she with that coven right now? Did they get past her disguise? Was she strong enough to take them all out and where they all safe?

In one day, she had almost been raped, killed by a monster and then learned that her best friend was an angel of the lord. It had been too much to digest and suddenly normal didn't feel normal anymore.

"Still thinking about Liz?" Kyle murmured as he ran his fingers through her short blond hair.

"Always." Tess softly replied. "I just hope to god she's safe out there with them because..." Tess chocked. "I love her and I don't want anything to happen to her."

"Hey she's Liz." Kyle smiled. "Nothing bad will happen to her, after all she's an angel isn't she?"

Tess nodded uneasily. Somehow she had a dreaded sensation that not everything will go according to plan.

Megan scoffed as she lead Liz to her room. Apparently, the prince wanted her in his personal head quarters which irked her even more off.

"This is your room." She threw the door open to reveal a huge luxurious gold plated room that even had Liz gasping.

"Wow, this is beautiful." Liz looked around as she stepped in. Megan helped her with the luggage and Max stepped in.

"I'm glad you like it." Max sincerely smiled.

"It's wonderful." Liz was breathless. She loved it, it was much better then the hotel rooms she had stayed in. The curvy windows, the stained glass, the rich colors on the walls, carpet, bed...everywhere. It was just perfect. She turned to Max. "Thank you for allowing me to stay here."

"Thank you." He whispered. "For coming here."

He felt his loneliness diminish with her presence for some reason. His heart told him that she would eradicate the pain he felt everyday. He felt that feeling all the way down to his toes. He could smell the bliss.

"Well, I'll be gone." Megan said, excusing herself. She did not want to hear anymore between them right now or it would drive her mad.

Max shut the door after Megan and then glided towards Liz who didn't expect him to come closer to her. But as soon as he did, she could smell the enticing cologne on him. It was strong but addictive. She loved that smell.

Max gently caressed her face with his fingers. Liz shivered at the intimate contact, her inner thighs rubbed together as she closed them and her nether lips began to tingle.

What the hell was going on?

Max brought his face closer to hers slowly and for a minute there, she thought he was going to kiss her.

But he brushed his lips on the side of her lips.

His voice was gentle yet firmly husky.

There was something different about tonight, he had been to the club many times before but tonight it felt so different. His business meetings usually took place upstairs in the private rooms because really, he owned Wings. It used to belong to a human but Don Nasedo had brought it off him and then passed it down to Max.

He was supposed to meet the other coven in half an hour to discuss business and the conversion since their coven leader died and the heiress had abandoned them all.

The loud thumping beats were humming against the floor and the surface of the soundproof walls. Through the window which was a one way mirror so he could see the people dancing below but they didn't have the advantage of seeing him, he noticed the her in the middle of the dance floor.

Max was unaware of moment which had just happened. He never danced.

She reminded herself that she was just attracted to his physical features but inside he was a monster, just like the rest of them.

"Oh that's a shame, what if your female members get jealous?" Liz asked coyly as soon as she began to sip on the Pepsi.

"I don't care." Max truthfully admitted.

Micheal spent all night working his ass off in the apartment with the chores. With Liz gone, it felt so empty and he worried so much that he left fifty messages on her cell phone. He was pissed off that she was too busy to answer his calls and his heart was telling him to gatecrash the vampire party and take her out of there for her own safety.

The apartment was spotless. Liz would have been pleased, he beamed with a proud smile. The cooker which Liz had always cleaned was now sparkling clean and he could see his own reflection in it.

Micheal tried to find another chore to occupy himself with and he had even gone to the supermarket twice. He looked longingly at his phone which had no new messages or missed calls.

"What are you doing Liz?" Micheal murmured.

A few minutes later, he decided to hit the bar and meet Kyle there. Micheal grabbed his car keys and left the apartment as quickly as he could.

On the way, Micheal cursed at the traffic. Who could have thought that the highway would be so busy at this time of the hour?

So Micheal decided to take a short cut through the small roads in the woods which were very dark as they had no headlights there. He was changing the CD in his CD player and too busy to notice what was in the middle of the road.

The headlights shone on her but she was too blinded by them and couldn't move out of time until he had hit her with his car. "Holy shit!". Micheal stepped on the breaks and stared hard at the crack in his windscreen.

He heard a scream and a loud thud when he felt someone roll over the hood of his car. He sat there for a moment, scared to face the consequences of his actions. Shit, did he kill someone? Did he?

His knuckles were white with his death grip on the steering wheel. "Okay...you didn't kill anyone Micheal. You're too good for that." He assured himself as he remained seated in the car.

He literally jumped out of his seat when he saw a hand on the front of the car and someone crawling up. It was a woman, a blonde woman, her face was pale and she had a cut above her left eyebrow possibly from the little car accident. Micheal got out of the car and ran to see if she was okay.

"Are you okay?" He asked her and pulled out his cell phone. "Let me call nine one one!"

She grabbed his hand and stopped him from dialling the number. "Don't call anyone, I'm fine." She rasped.

"Are you crazy? You're bleeding!" He snapped and jerked his hand from her grip. "I need to call the paramedics."

With no choice, she flashed him her fangs and he jumped back towards the car. He dropped his phone but quickly bent down and grabbed it. "Oh my god! You're a blood sucking freak!"

"Go away." She told him.

Micheal opened his car door and she assumed that he was going to run away so she turned around and began to walk away. Micheal however, grabbed a dart gun which had strong doses of tranquilizer in it and he aimed it at her.

Maria screamed in pain as the dart hit her in the back and she crumpled to the floor.

Micheal ran towards her and smiled.

Chapter Seven

They were lead into a darkly lit room that bored the scent of wood, the large polished dark Oakwood table that was surrounded by lavish Victorian chairs covered in light gold and burgundy embroidery with one big leather chair at both ends of the table. The deep magenta velvet carpet radiated warmth as they treaded over it.

The room was fairly big, just big enough to pass off as a large master bedroom. One the other side of the room, it was filled with bean bag seats and a widescreen TV that was plastered onto the wall. The walls were painted a dark red colour which made the side lights seem brighter although the room was poorly lit.

Max greeted a Latino man with a fair amount of dark hair, his name was Jesse Ramirez; a mere spokesperson for his coven and who had greeted Liz with the same courtesy he greeted any other women. The introduction was brief and quick, Jesse seemed more eager to discuss the business deal.

Max took his place at one end of the table as Jesse helped himself to the other chair. Liz took the first seat next too Max as the other members took their respective seats and waited till Max decided to officially start the meeting.

Liz nervously glanced around and tried to keep a straight face, the meeting was boring and hadn't captured her attention at all. She worried that her face was telling that she wasn't really enjoying this at all.

"So we will merge our covens then." Jesse said. "I will become your advisor and you will control all of us."

"There can only be one leader Jesse."

Jesse nodded. "And he's you."

There were several rejections from the table, they did not want to be lead and spoke for the rebels. "I personally think we should vote." A woman said. "Those who want Max as their leader raise your hands."

About a third of the people present did not raise their hands. Max swallowed but remained cool. "If we can't drink human blood then we might as well sign our death warrants." A bald haired man hissed. "Look what he did to his own friend Maria, he is murdering her."

Max growled. "Don't speak of the subject you know nothing about Gordon!"

"Maria is dying, we all know it! Her iron levels are falling, Max wants to kill his coven, I don't care but I won't let my coven suffer the same fate."

"Animal blood will suffice though." Jesse said. "What is so different about animal blood and human blood?"

"The difference is, human blood is filet mignon. Animal blood is just a cheap ass hamburger!" A black guy from the table spoke.

They all started to protest again and Liz decided to jump in. "Stop it!"

"Shut up Blondie, let the grown ups talk!" An older woman snapped.

"Listen you all are not helping." Liz said. "Give Max a chance to talk."

"I know I'm not drinking animal blood." The African- American guy shook his head and stood up. "Mr Evans, I thought you were a true vampire. But I'm seeing a hoax, you a fake ass vampire. You should be ashamed."

Some of the people agreed and left, leaving the ones who agreed with Max behind. Max sighed and ran his hand through his hair. Jesse slowly got up. "Someone has to lead them." He slowly said.

No words needed to be spoken between Max and Jesse, Max guessed Jesse had already picked his side. Jesse was relieved to exit the meeting room. Liz edged towards Max.

"Well that went well."

"Don't worry." Liz placed her hand on his shoulder. "The majority agree with you."

"I'm loosing Liz, I'm loosing everything." Max shut his eyes in shame.

Maria woke up to find herself on a cold hard floor. She jerked up and was alert, it was the only power she had left in her. Being alert, she wasn't strong enough to ward off danger like the other vampires.

Micheal and the others jumped back. "It's awake." Micheal told his friends.

They needed a place to keep Maria and Micheal had cajoled Kyle to call up his friend Alex who was a vet specialist. Lucky for them, Alex had a big cage in his garage which was the perfect place to lock Maria up.

Tess scrunched her nose up at the ripe smell coming from Maria. "She so needs a bath." She told Kyle.

"Be my guest." Micheal laughed.

"Eww no." Tess cringed, falling back into Kyle's arms.

"Are you sure that this lady is a vampire? Because to me, it sounds like a story." Alex said. He never had encounters with the species and seeing Maria in this state made him feel guilty.

She looked helpless behind the cage. Maria's fingers touched the small white bars of the cage and she whimpered. She was thirsty and Max was no where in sight. Oh god, she was going to have a fit.

"She looks so pale." Kyle frowned.

"Don't be fooled." Micheal said. "She is a vampire." He said and grabbed a bottle of blood in it from the table next to them.

He had spent hours of observing Maria and with his sufficient knowledge of vampires; he knew she had to be a vampire. Those fangs were real and she smelt of blood. His nostrils had allowed the scent to pass through and invade his sense. He felt sick.

Bending down, he placed the bottle near the cage and Maria screamed as she smelt the blood. She craved it like a druggie craved drugs. Her tongue was hanging out of her mouth and she pushed her fingers further through the gaps in the cage. Micheal held the bottle away and then decided to push the opening of the bottle through the gap so she could drink it.

Maria latched onto the bottle and drank as much blood as she could. Tess, Kyle and Alex watched with their mouths wide open.

"I-I think I'm gunna be sick!" Tess cried and ran out of the room.

Kyle who was hesitant, gave one look at Micheal and Maria before following Tess out of the garage. A bewildered Alex watched on as Maria drunk from the bottle. Micheal ripped the bottle away from Maria's desperate lips and handed it to Alex. "Put the cap on." Micheal said. "I told you she was a vamp."

Alex looked at Maria in fear, the blood was smeared around her lips.

"Oh lord."

"Where is Maria?" Max asked Megan as soon as they returned home.

It was time for her to be fed and he had searched the place down for her, when he didn't find her, he panicked. Megan on the other hand, checked her records and informed Max that she had taken her usual midnight stroll in the woods like she always did every night; Max had discovered that Maria did not come back last night.

"Send the troops out." Max told Megan. "Tell them to find Maria."

"Yes sir." Megan nodded before swiftly running out of the room to attend her duties.

"Whose Maria?" Liz asked.

Max turned around. "I wanted you to meet her." Max said. "That's her picture there, right behind you." Max pointed.

Liz looked at the picture again. "I noticed." She glanced at the huge gold framed picture that closely resembled a Greek portrait. Maria had rich blonde ringlets, her face was pale and her green eyes were a shining green, it made her look immaculate.

"She is sick." Max said softly.

"They were talking about her in the meeting; they said she had some sort of iron problem?"

"No, it's much more then that. She doesn't get enough from the blood we drink." Max said. "It's her immune system, I don't know what exactly but her body is unable to take it."

"Like Leukaemia?"

"Something like that. The blood she drinks, helps her to hang on but it also doesn't stop her white blood cells from overproducing." Max said. "But we're not humans, normally this doesn’t affect us unless-"

"She is still human?" Liz suggested.

"A hybrid; not entirely a vampire but not a human either, just a mix of both."

"How was she sired?"

"She wasn't. She was born to human mother and a hybrid father. Usually hybrids are okay, but 1 in 3 hybrids have a chance of inheriting this disease."

"She sounds more human then vampire but the vampire gene will not be recessive." Liz asked.

Max shook his head no.

Liz's teeth gritted. She never heard of hybrid vampires before although it was said to her that human/vampires could exist. Taking a step closer to Max, she whispered. "Have you tried everything? I mean like giving her human blood?"

"I did that." Max whispered back. "I tried so much. I would kill a thousand humans just to save her life Claudia."

Liz's breath hitched when he called her by the name she made up for herself. She realised how deep she was getting into the vampire world, a nation she despised.

She retreated back. "You made her drink human blood?" She shook her head as she regained some sense into her.

Shaking her head, she backed away. "You are such a hypocrite." Liz snapped.

Max gasped, even she thought he was evil. Her eyes told it all. "Please try and understand-"

Liz shut the door and grabbed a sword from the wall. "All I know is that you're evil." The venom was in her voice as she gripped the blade.

Chpt eight


Unprepared for a frontal attack, Max felt the cold wall slap against his hard back as Liz pushed him with a vigorous force. She held the blade against his arm and cut him. He winced and stared at his own blood.

Liz moved the blade up to his neck and then stopped there as she stared into his eyes. "You're nothing but a murderer." She spoke quietly with her eyes burning with a hatred that amused Max.

"I find that quite hard to believe." He said, his own eyes shining with a mysterious emotion that had captured Liz's attention.

What was that?

But in one fluid motion, he pushed her off him and ripped the sword out of Liz's hands. Liz fell on the ground and Max straddled her. They began rolling on the floor, fighting to be on top. Liz tried to grab his throat with her eager hands but Max caught her wrists in a powerful grip to stop her from succeeding.

Both their strengths exerted one another.

Liz was straining to get her hands on his neck while he was using all his force to prevent her. "You won't win." She croaked.

Sliding her leg closer, Liz bent her leg and kneed Max in the crotch. Groaning, Max released her wrists and she went straight for his throat, Max used one hand to grab her hair which to his surprise came off. The blonde wig was idle in his hand.

Liz scurried away from underneath Max as she watched him through her 'green eyes'. "I guess the cat is out of the bag now." She grabbed the sword and stood up.

Pointing the tip of the blade to Max's chin, she ushered him to stand up. Max dropped the wig from his hands and stared at Liz's dark brown hair which was tied up in a neat low ponytail. "Please just hear me out." Max said in a breathy tone.

Liz shook her head. "If you die, they die then humans live." She whispered. "No more sucking."

"It's how we survive!" Max raised his voice.

Liz lifted the sword and for a moment Max thought she was going to stab him through the heart.

But he heard her drop the sword on the floor; lifting his eyes up he noticed her hands glowing then he knew who she really was. "I hate living in deception." She growled as her hands sparked.

"You're the angel." Max gasped in awe.

Liz neared him without another word.

Max knew now why she was here. He took hold of her wrists again and tried one more time again to convince her. "Listen, I'm am not like the others!"

Liz struggled to rip away from Max but he was just as strong. "Please listen!"

Max pushed Liz on to the bed and once more was on top of her. "Get the fuck off me!" Liz hissed in anger.

"No! No! No!" Max snapped back, holding Liz's hands together. "You can't take action without knowing the truth! I don't kill humans! I don't! I'm against it!"

Liz finally slowed down as Max began to talk. Once he told her what his real motives where, she began to calm down. "How do I know I can trust you?"

"I won't tell anyone that you're an angel." Max promised. "You have my word on that."

Liz blinked. "I was sent here to kill you, why would you protect me?"

"Because you're on the side of justice."

Maria nodded her head. "If you want to save your girlfriend you may need to release me. I may be weak but I can protect a feeble human."

Kyle watched her closely for a second, wondering if she was telling the truth. "Are they here?"

Maria nodded. "I can smell them."

Remembering Liz's words about how strong vampire's senses were, Kyle had began to wonder. "Okay...erm..." He touched the lock.

Maria instantly went towards the door. "Open it."

Kyle was about to reach for the key which was hanging on the wall until Micheal yelled. "What the fuck do you think you're doing!"

Kyle jumped back and Micheal ran to grab the stun gun off Kyle. He aimed it at Maria who was touching the bars and he hit her with it. Maria screamed and rolled onto the floor in pain.

"What the hell are you doing? She didn't do anything bad!" Kyle snapped.

"Shut up." Micheal glared at him. "You were about to release a monster!"

"She was trying to warn us-"

"Oh please." Micheal rolled his eyes. "I go out for one hour and then I find you in this compromising position. She's gotten to you hasn't she?" Micheal remarked as he backed Kyle up against the wall. "I should have known you were the weak type."

Alex and Tess who entered the garage watched the commotion as Maria jerked against the floor.

Kyle stared at everyone and noticed Tess' disappointed face.

Tess shook her head and then turned around to leave.

Micheal noticed that and took pride in it. "You let her down. You let all of us down." Micheal said in a low tone before letting Kyle go.

Kyle stormed out of the garage leaving Micheal alone with Alex.

Alex who was at loss for words tried to say something to Micheal who was clearly upset by the turn of events. He took a step forward only to have someone or something jump on him, knocking him on the ground.

The vampire flashed their fangs and then bit Alex in the neck. Alex screamed and called Micheal for help. Micheal who acted quickly, grabbed a sharp tool before dousing it quickly with a bottle of holy water. He ran towards the vampire and stabbed them through the heart.

The vampire hissed before dropping dead on the floor with a thud. Micheal grabbed the first aid box to help Alex who was badly bleeding from his neck. "Oh god, what do I do!" Micheal rummaged through the contents of the first aid kit as Alex was slowly struggling to stay awake.

"Don't fall asleep! Don't fall asleep!" Micheal shouted.

Alex lifted his bloody fingers and grabbed Michael’s arm as he wheezed.

"Alex, hang on!" Micheal cried. "I'm gunna fix you! I swear!"

Max and Liz walked back into the dining hall for dinner where Megan was waiting for Max. "My prince?" Megan strolled towards them. "I've just heard from Jordan who found Maria whose being held at a garage." She announced. "The household belongs to a Mr and Mrs Charles Whitman."

Liz froze and thought of Alex. Then it hit her, her friends found Maria and were keeping her caged up at Alex's place. She stiffened.

"Well I have to go there and try to get her back." Max said. "Tell everyone to come back here, I'll go get Maria."

"I'm going with you." Liz declared.

"No it's-"

Liz pressed herself up against Max. "I'm just as strong, remember?" She whispered firmly.

Max nodded and Liz moved away from him.

"Right."

Tess picked up the phone and was happy to hear from Liz. "Hey sweetie!"

"Tess, listen I'm coming over there with Max. I need you to tell Micheal and Kyle to get away with you. I don't want Max to know you guys were there."

"Whose Max?"

"Just someone."

"Is he a vampire?"

"Tess I-"

"What the hell are you doing parading about with a vampire?" Tess' tone was serious. "It's bad enough Kyle tried to unleash that bitch vampire and now you're bringing a vampire here! Alex got bit and he's dying, you want to finish off the job?" Tess poured all the pain down into the phone, to Liz who was stunned.

"No, I have to get Maria back otherwise they will send lots of vampires and kill you guys. I don't want that to happen." She hissed.

There was a moment of silence.

"So Alex, what happened to him?"

"He's uh been bitten and now is in kind of a limbo." Tess' tone was sad.

"Damn!" Liz cursed. "And the vampire?"

"Killed." Tess replied simply.

"Okay, you guys just get outta there. I'll go and sort things out."

"Okay Liz." Tess replied and clicked the phone off.

Liz watched Max who got in the car. "Ready?"

Liz nodded uneasily, hoping that this was just going to be a short night.
