Liz sat in a lounge chair, soaking up some mid-morning sun. She sighed as she tried to relax. She'd been in Florida for almost a month now and still, no matter what she did, the only thing she could think about was the whole 'Destiny' fiasco she'd left behind in Roswell. Finally she reached over into her bag and pulled out her cell phone and dialed the number to the Crashdown. After a few rings, a familiar voice answered.
"Crashdown Cafe, This is Maria"
Liz smiled at the sound of her best friends voice "Hey!" Liz cheerfully replied into the phone, waiting for Marias reponse.
"OMG! Liz! Hi! How are you? Hows Florida?? Have you met any cute guys yet? C'Mon girl! Details!!!"
Liz laughed at Marias hyperness, "I'm fine, Maria.. and no, no guys"
A small groan came from Maria "Honey, you left Max... why aren't you window shopping for someone else??"
Liz sighed, she knew Maria was right. She had walked away from Max, so why did she feel guilty about this? She'd been asked out at least a dozen times, and she'd turned them all down. "I dunno, Maria, it just doesn't feel right, like I'm cheating on Max or something. And before you say it.. I know, I gotta get over that"
Maria sighed "So, how many have you turned down?" Maria always knew what Liz was thinking.
"I'm not sure... Eleven, Twelve??" Liz could hear Maria gasp and took the phone away from her ear a little, preparing herself for Marias reaction.
"Are you *CRAZY?!* Liz, c'mon! Ok, promise something! Next guy that asks you out, under the age of 25, and over the age of 17, you'll say yes! Promise!"
Liz hesitated, going over in her mind the possibilites of what could happen because of this promise. She was snapped back into reality by Maria pressuring her to promise. She sighed. She knew she would never get Maria off the phone unless she promised. "Ok, fine, Maria.. I promise" Maria let out a little squeal of excitement.
"Thats my girl" Maria said, causing Liz to laugh, "But I have to get back to work! I love you, have fun, be safe, call me later, and remember! You promised!"
Liz smiled and said goodbye to her friend. She put her cell phone back in the bag and grapped some tanning oil and put it on, if nothing else, she'd go home with a tan! She finally settled back in her lounge chair, put on her sunglasses, and tried to relax. She was doing a fairly good job at it too, until a group of teenagers decided to set up camp about 9 feet from where she was sitting. By the way they were talking, she could tell that they weren't from around here, New York was her guess. She tried to ignore them, and went back to her tanning. Suddenly, something caused a shadow over her face. She opened her eyes, taking a minute to let them readjust to the sunlight. Finally, she saw what was blocking the sun. It was a boy, and his back was to her. He was tall and muscular, with a pretty nice tan. He had dark hair which was spiked up and she could see part of a tattoo on his right bicep. He wasn't moving out of her sun, either. She waited a minute, hoping he would just move on his own. When that didn't happen, Liz sighed "Uhm... Excuse me?? Can you move please?"
At the sound of her voice, the guy turned around and looked down at her, letting her see his face for the first time. Liz looked up at him as he turned to face her. Her mouth dropped wide open when she saw his face. The only thing she could manage to say was "OMG...."
