Prologue

I moved from Roswell New Mexico 2 months ago and live with this girl, Ava. I don’t know her to well but we both needed a place and we work at the same café it seemed logical...
She stays out late and parties I go to uni and work at the café. Ava has like 4 jobs at the same time but is constantly changing. She works in bars as a life model (nude) apparently you get really good money for sitting on your ass for 2 hours but naked. Take out places and deliveries! Who knows what is next?


I’m majoring in literature and journalism. I don’t know if its something I want to do but its something I do well so….. I don’t know many people here but Ava grew up in New York so she has been showing me around.
So New York is a huge place and Ava is great she is turning into my best friend. The only problem is I’m falling for her boyfriend…….


Chapter 1


Who would have thought it me Liz parker hot over someone who is ment to be my best friend man! Ava has done so much for me and I repay her by crushing on her guy!
Ok you have to understand Ava likes her variety! She is constantly bringing guys home, but there is this one guy who came over two nights ago, Zan.
I didn’t think it was any different when I came home to moans and groans from Ava’s room I just went to my own and put on some headphones and studied. Now when I woke up early that morning I’m talking 3.45 am I had to get up! I was starving I didn’t eat dinner last night and once I’m up I’m up!


Sooo mixing up a bowl of cereal and I go to watch some TV. When I see a vision before me a sexy dark haired man with a body to match lounging on my couch my parents bought me with nothing but a pair of jeans that rest dangerously low on his hips. Tattoos piercing and sexy spiked up hair mmmmm……
“Hey I’m Zan, Ava's well her friend!”
“Liz, roommate”
and he just shuffles over in a silent invitation to sit. I’m scared to do so, I usually don’t look twice at Ava's conquest usually they don’t stick around long enough…
we sit and watch some infomercials I realise the suns about to rise and rush up to open the windows and just watch. Whoops I forgot abut Zan he probably thinks I’m a big dork now… I turn around and I’m confronted with beautiful tanned skin mmmmmm I can’t help but lick my lips
“Its beautiful I do dat watch the sun come up”
“Yeah it is beautiful”
But my eyes don’t leave his smooth chest I eventually look up at his eyes and they are out the window, at least he didn’t catch me staring.
He walks away and cracks his neck grabs a t shirt and starts to walk away.
“Seya later Liz”
“Bye”


And with that he is gone, probably out the door never to return ahhh well. Ahh well I was wrong that’s why I’m sitting in my room now just getting home and hear Ava talking to someone in her room I just ignore it till I hear her loudly exclaim
Zan
After a while I hear Ava come into my room and crawl in to bed with me
“Liz Liz yo you up?”
“I’m now what’s up Ava?”
“I….. Can I talk can we talk?”
“Sure what’s up?”
“It’s about Zan this guy I brought home the other night he is here again tonight! The thing is Lizzy we grew up together ya know likes in the same apartment building I sorta always crushed on him still do… but he never felt the same way back! I still want him but I know he just thinks we buddies you know I I don’t know what to do?”
“Ava have you every thought that you want this Zan because you can’t have him??? You always do things to prove yourself to other people and want things you can’t possibly afford is this just one of those things?
“I dunno Liz its Zan when I see him think about him my brain turns to mush”
“if he doesn’t want you Ava you cant change his feelings! Ask him just say to him straight work it out cause all this uncertainty bullshit will get you no where….”
“Thanks Lizzy beth you are my girl you know that”
And we just smile and I realise my situation I’m deeply falling for the guy that Ava wants but cant have. How can I do this to her?




Ok so I need to know what you guys think just started reading Zan/Liz fics and got addicted my first try at them so please tell me what ya think and If I should continue????? cause I’m really scared

Chapter 2
I wake up at 4.55 that morning way to early morning with Ava snuggled into my side my stomach is rumbling so I go into the kitchen to find Mr. half naked standing in those incredible low jeans
“Hey Liz cereal?”
“Umm sure”
I go to grab it but he starts making it for me
“you do the shopping around here huh Ava wouldn’t eat most of dis and well she ain’t one to spend her money on food.”
I just jump up on the bench and listen for his accent to come out once in awhile its like Ava's only thick when she is angry and only some words have that roughness to them. Sitting on the
Counter with my stripy flannelette pjs he hands me my coco puffs.


“So you and Ava go back? She told me you guys grew up together?”
“Yeah aint that exciting … what about you Liz? Wered you grow up kitten?
“Me um Roswell moved here a couple of months ago! I go to NYU”
“Ahhh smart chick Ava got it good then, she talks about you a lot Av's had it rough but she doesn’t complain, she likes you”
“She’s a good friend and I’m really happy to have met her, I don’t have any friends back in Roswell”
For some reason talking to him has been easy I almost open up and tell him my whole life story
“What no friends find that hard to believe?”
“There was someone I thought was my friends but they weren’t”
“Screwed ya over ha”
“Yeah”
I don’t really want to think about them right now and it isn’t hard to forget them with half naked sexy understanding guy in font of me.
“Well Av's she might be all in her own head and all that shit but she is a true friend she won’t screw ya over.”


And we talk while Ava sleeps. He tells me about his tattoos and piercing and how he loves his job. He is a mechanic and works on everything from classic cars to motorcycles.
“I also work at Whitman’s that club arounds the corner some bartending some security”
“Oh yeah Ava said she was going for a job round there something about knowing someone…”
“Yeah Whitman himself he’s wid my sis Isabel….”
“You have a sister? Sorry only child here”
“Nah sweets its ok yep got me a sister and a twin bruva”
“There’s two of you?”
And did I just say that outloud from the smirk on his face and the heat I feel rising on my neck I’m guessing I did. And he is looking at me with those beautiful brown eyes and I forget what I was about to say? I think I forgot my name..


“Yous two met I see?”
Ava, I scramble of the bench and far away from Zan as I can -like he burned. In truth he did that look that stare burned me up inside. I feel guilty when in reality we did nothing but what I feel makes all that guilt real.
“Hey pink sleep tight? Gots to let ya know that the thought of yous two together….”
“Zan I just jumped in bed wit Liz and fell asleep”
“Still to hot women all cuddled up together just wish I could hav been there….”
“Shut up dirty boy”
I just laugh at there easy banter the way they play of each other, with such ease. It makes me feel guilty and a little jealous.
“Oh oh Zanny have ya seen Rath yet?”
“What’s a Rath?”
I think I need to just go in my room and die. Why the hell do I speak when things like that just drop out my mouth? Zan is smiling at me that’s a nice little reward for my verbal diarrhea
“Rath is a person his names Michael but he likes to be called Rath for some stupid ass reason, he’s my brother the one I was talking about…”
“Your twin?”
“Yes Lizzy but Rath and Zan don’t look nothing alike”
Well can’t help but feel a little disappointed in that.

chapter 3


I love NY here you are a stranger to everyone and there is so much going on around you, it impossible to dwell on your on screwed up life. My life in Roswell was pretty boring I stuck to my school work and didn’t have friends. I worked hard as a waitress my goal from when I was ten was to get out of the hell out.


My mother is constantly traveling her and dad say they aren’t divorced but haven’t seen each other in at least 4 years, I haven’t seen her in four years! She is off writing some sort of novel? She wrote this coming of age story about being pregnant at 19 based on her real life and it got published. Since then she has been trying to reclaim the one minute of fame, anywhere and everywhere. My dad owns a ditzy diner- more like inherited it. He works hard so- hard I think he forgot he had to raise me. But I can’t complain all that led me here.
It made me independent I never trusted people. I let one person in but that didn’t last. Her name was Maria, best friend so I thought….. Life it goes on and it has I’m miles away from New Mexico.


“Hey Liz you ok there seemed million miles away”
“Sorry Ava I just I was just thinking…”
She looks worried its kind off nice that someone actually notices me. Then I look down at myself I’m sitting in my underwear a singlet with my jeans in my hand staring off in to space, ok looks a little weird. I jump up when I realize the time. Shit
I can here Ava in the kitchen trying to find something greasy to cook for her breakfast/lunch since its 12.30 and my class started at 12! Why is it when you’re in a rush nothing ever goes right??? Damn pants wont get on my legs ahhhhh don’t you hate it when you just wash jeans and there all stiff and tight!!!
Ok pants on need shoes and keys oh oh and books. I can smell eggs and bacon and my stomach rumbles mmmmmmmmm. No no class have to go have to find shoes….


“You ok there kitten?”
His smirk and the laughter in his voice should just irritate me but it’s just sexy. Damn brain and what is it a rule that he has to wear no shirt it’s very distracting.
“I’m late I cant find my shoes or my keys and my pants are to tight aauggghhhhhhhhhhoooooofff”
Yep I fell over in my tight pants and one shoe trying to find my keys, in front of Zan. I just lie down and cover my face with my arm.
“You ok?”
Before I can answer my stomach growls loudly. If it couldn’t get any more embarrassing..
“I’m ok and add hungry as hell to that list!”
He just stands and offers me his hand I can’t do anything but take it. He sits me at the kitchen bench and sits right next to me
“Need a hand Avs wes got one more for breakfast”
“Nah got it covered and I made extra anywyas”
So we sit and wait, I can hear the bacon sizzling and smell the scrambled eggs god I’m hungry. I just missed class I never miss class. But then I never had Ava cooking me yummy greasy breakfast and Zan picking me up – picking me up of the floor I mean.


I don’t even think about class I just think food and Zan what a good combination and then my mind starts to wander hold up don’t go there!!!!! Well yet anyway
“So you in kitten?”
“huuh”
“Whitman’s tonight Liz girl are ya even listenin?”
“Yeah um sure but I’m only 19?”
“No probs I wills get you and Avas in cant leave my girls out in da cold now! Seeya tonight pink later kitty”
This should be interesting….. Did he just call me kitty??



ohhhhh going to a club dark and dancing oppurtunitys plus alcohol in the mix should be interesting so stay tuned......

btw- im an Aussie and have no idea about NY or your school systems or anything so sorryif i messed up...if any one has any suggestions or anything feel free to let me have it! cause at this point im winging it!!!!!

Tease

Ok I’m going out with Zan and Ava to there friends club. First I panicked about what to wear but then Ava dropped a whole pile of clothes on my bed and made me try them all on. Let’s just say that tight plastic mini skirts and tiny tops with lots a cut out are not my style. I settled on a more subdued black halter neck top of Ava’s and a pair of my jeans. I’m so excited I can’t stop dancing around my room Ava has some music blasting while I find the appropriate shoes I dance a little...


Knock knock
“Yo Liz ya ready were bout to jet”
Zan???? Thank god my door is shut.
“Yeah umm give me a sec”
Rush to finish putting on my heels and of course get up to fast and trip with a loud bang.
“You ok in there?”
“ahh yeah Zan I just um dropped something”
Oh god ok one final check and strut to the door put on my best ‘innocent but take me’ look and open the door dramatically to the wall? Where did he go??Walking out to the lounge I see him waiting, leaning against the couch ohhh to be that couch.


“Sorry had shoe trouble where’s Ava?”
“Her and Michael went already- pinks excited about going out wid us all! its been a while all of us together again and all dat”
“Maybe I should stay here I don’t want to impose on you guys and…”
“Babe we want you to come so shhhh and get your sexy butt down stairs”
So we go we start to walk because it’s only around the corner
“Shit I forgot a jacket?”
“No need Kitten I will keep ya warm”
gah is all I can think when he puts his arms around me. He has these to die for dirty denim jeans and a black t shirt. I can see his tattoos from the edge of his shirt. Oh and when I think the man couldn’t get any more beautiful, he shaved off his goatee I can see his face more now that soft skin.
We walk right past the line up and Zan slaps the bouncer’s hand. He opens the door with a grand gesture; he is such a dork but a damn sexy dork.
“Welcome to Whitman’s”

Chapter 4

I didn’t know what I was expecting not this! There are two floors and people dancing everywhere. There are big lounges and table settings all around. You can feel the atmosphere; this is the place to be. I mean there’s a line up.
Plus its so big and loud Zan has my hand right now guiding me threw the crowds. The amount of women who flaunt themselves at him, we stop at one of the bars and the women just pounce- skanks.
“zan”
“Justin”
Ok this must be a guy thing! Greeting each other with a nod and a reminder of your own name. I also know now why there are so many women hanging at the bar. Justin is looking good isn’t there just something about bartenders? I feel Zan poke me in the side a little, uh oh he looks annoyed what happened I missed it?
Justin is just staring at us too ok what happened?
“ya sister and the boss er up backwith your crew”
zan doesn’t say anything just puts his arm around me and leads me away. Men are so weird……


We walk to the second level and round the corner right at the back there is a huge red couch and lots a little stylish chairs surrounding them. There is a tall lean guy with a cigar in his mouth making some sort of joke. He has a beautiful blonde in a killer dress lounging and laughing on his arm and Ava on the ground bout to bust a gut, must have been some joke……
“zan”
He lets go of the hold he has on me and jumps right in to a comfortable embrace with the leggy blonde. Ok can’t help but feels little inadequate. Wait did he just say sis? Oh this is Isabel his sister.
I feel Ava tugging on my arm
“Liz girl this is Alex whitman Al this is my roomie Liz”
“Well it’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance and welcome to my club…”
I can’t do anything but offer a awkward smile I always feel a little clumsy in being social.
“Sorry you have to excuse Alex he loves this place and can’t get enough of telling everyone. I’m Isabel by the way”
“Liz but you prob already know that by now”
“Ah but Liz the sound of your voice is all we like to hear so it doesn’t matter what you say”
“Honey I think you have had too much of that cigar are you feeling light headed? Did you remember to remove the plastic before lighting it?”
And can’t help but laugh
“Oh did ya hear that Zan I thought her voice was beautiful yet her laugh is heaven”


Ok im guessing Alex is a comedian. I take a seat that’s behind me without looking so when I deep voice in my ear and a hand on my bare back it makes me shiver.
“He’s just messin wit ya, it’s just the way Alex is?”
“Hey hey hey what are you two whispering about????”
“Oh Alex tell me it isn’t true? Zan here told me you where joking when you were openly flirting with! Tell me it isn’t so”
And I put my hand up to my forehead in a dramatic gesture. I can hear Ava on the ground giggling
“Oh my fair Liz do not believe this manly man for I am all you want all you need all you desire…”
When saying this he jumps out of his seat and stands on the table and looks down at me.
“Ok you two knock it off”
“Oh see Liz he isn’t worthy Zan the Man gave up already but I will win your heart yet”
and I just cant stop laughing everyone is and they are clapping and Alex is just standing on the table soaking it up.
“Thank you thank you oh thank you everyone oh your too kind I ah would like to thank my co star the Beautiful Liz who inspired some of my greatest lines yet …”


And we are still all laughing when Ava asks
“Where did Michael go?”
“Bathroom and then probably to pick up some slutty ass girls if I know my brother”
“Um where are the Bathrooms?”
After all that giggling and nerves are gone im just left with the greatest urge to pee.
“I will show ya oh we can make it a girl thing come on Avs we will all go?”
“Isabel? What is up with you?”
And we walk off without Ava who is busy staring down some guy and downed her pink drink, what’s with her and pink?
After getting out the stall I see Isabel primping. Fixing her hair putting on some lipstick so I do the same! I pull out my lip gloss and brush through my hair with my fingers.
“so um Isabel what do you do?”
“oh I model sometimes and right now I’m doing advertising for the club. I designed all the fixtures too I’m an interior designer! Sorry get a little excited what about you?”
“Oh I’m a student at NYU doing journalism”
“sorry if im acting all girly its just Avas my only real girl friend and I just well god I sound like a dork but maybe we can hang out sometime? Avas not in to the girl thing and I practically live with my brothers around me and if you can survive them ya know maybe we can get some lunch?
“id love to I dont have any friends so making a new one is great oh god now I sound like a dork!”
“lets forget the words and just remember the good parts agreed”
“agreed”


and we hook arms as we leave the batheroom
“sorry I always wanted to do this but Ava says its to girly”
“I have to man we are dorks”
we laugh and sit down everyone is just staring at us.
“We had a bonding moment in the bathroom and Alex don’t say any thing dirty!!! Liz and I are new best friends”
I just smile at her. Where is Ava and im I ever going to meet this Rath Michael guy??
“ohhhhhhhh but I thought Liz was my new best friend she laughs at my joke and does theatre with me”
“Oh Alex I can make you feel better”
Ok they are making out not little kisses but stuff that should be hidden in the bedroom. Zan just rolls his eyes
“Let’s dance Kitten”
I love to dance I’m just embarrassed too. Zan is leading me out and he starts to dance he is really good, hes looking at me, watching me- waiting for me to join him. Britney spears Toxic is on ohh I love this song.

chapter 5

I can’t hear, I can’t feel all I can see is his eyes. Zans eyes usually beautiful brown now almost black and I feel them bore into mine. It’s like they are holding me in place I can’t move I don’t want to breathe. Because if I do the moment will be broken if I do move I will lose that look the look of desire want and need directed at me. My face is burning my whole body is on fire but he puts his hand on my cheek I feel the heat of it scorch my skin. We are just looking at each other and were about to combust, what happens if we kiss?


Thinking about tasting those lips imagining what his tongue ring would feel like against my tongue. I can’t help but lick my lips. I hear him groan and see his eyes leave mine and focus on my lips I can hear the beat of the song change when he moves towards me closer still. I close my eyes when I see him lean in I can smell his cologne and feel the smoothness of his cheek against mine.


“What are you doing to me?”


I feel it more then I hear his whisper against my ear the feels of his lips gently caressing my ear. He grabs my hand and places it in his, he places them on his chest and I can feel his heart beat fast with the rhythm of the music and the intensity of this moment.


To the outside we probably just look like two people slow dancing very close but this moment is “the moment”. You hear all your life about falling in love, my grandma used to say that you will just know. One day you will have moment where time stops and you just know. I thought she was just daydreaming, Fantasizing life for me. But this is my moment, I know now this isn’t infatuation some crush. I’m in love…..


In startled realization I look into his eyes they are still black. Does he feel the same way? I’m I imaging this electricity between us? We are practically causing sparks it’s not one sided when I feel him lean in to me and move his lips to mine. I close my eyes in anticipation wanting his lips on mine I feel his breath smell him close and then it’s gone. I’m being jerked backwards by someone behind me.


The moments gone his eyes aren’t dark with need for me his lips aren’t close to mine. His eyes are narrowed in anger directed to the guy behind me. I look at the guy and he has a pink drink just like Ava had. Oh god.
I hear Zan yelling at the guy but all I can think about is what I have done, what I was about to do????? And I run

ok hi clearing up a few things
When Liz was with Zan she fogot all about Ava she forgot about everything caught up in the moment. but the guy bumping in to her and seeing he had a pink drink like Ava's reminded her of her friend and what was about to happen..... and Zan was being a little possesive and pissed that someone broke there little almost kiss and someone hurt his Liz.....

I just ran I had to get away. Ava has been there for me since the beginning she talked to me about this guy. This guy I almost kissed this guy I’m in love with. The same guy she had pined over her whole life. How can i? What I’m I doing? I know what its like to be betrayed. Lying and sneaking behind her back I won’t do that. I’m nothing like that. I’m nothing like that nothing like that…..


I just keep trying to push through the crowd’s people keep running into me I feel someone turn around and grab me- Zan
“Liz what’s wrong? Sweets why are ya crying?”
I can’t breath I don’t want to see him and want to hold him at the same time. He just grabs me and takes me outside. We are in some dark alley illuminated by the neon signs across the way. I can’t stop crying my head hurts my heart hurts I’m so confused and its all coming out in broken sobs.
“Did that guy hurt you? Did someone touch you Liz god what’s wrong stop crying please what happened did you gets hurt?”
I just nod my head I can’t look in his eyes I can feel his worried gaze on me and I soon as I nod my head he is running his hands over me looking for where I’m hurt. cant help but cry louder
“Shit what’s wrong Liz?”


I just grab his hand touched by his concern confused about my loyalty and destroyed about the love I have found but can’t have. I take his hand and place it on my heart.
“It hurts here?”
And I nod my head for an answer and try and hold back the tears. I still can’t look at him I hear his voice so soft so broken I hardly recognized it
“Did i???”
And that’s when I break for him I look up at his eyes and they are focused on his hand over my heart. I take his face in my hands and force him to look at me
“No Zan I did this to my heart! Understand me”
His eyes are the most beautiful shade, I have seen them dark with desire black with passion and now this dusky color. It was a mistake to look at him


He thumbs away my tears and runs them over my lips. He moves in slowly I can feel his feet step around mine the warmth of his body near mine his lips gently whisper against mine
“Wait Ava she you I cant she is my friend…”
“Kitten she is just my friend too”
And there was no time for an answer his lips were against mine and I can taste the beer on his lips the softness of his mouth and the musky smell of his aftershave. I was gentle a barely there kiss, gentle and sweet.

Screw that

So I grabbed the back of his neck and pulled him closer to me he made a little surprised noise but soon our bodies melted at the fire our kiss generated. It was like I was tasting his soul and that tongue ring damnnnnn
We both break away breathing heavy I could feel his puffs on my face. I was starting to get back my other senses. I could feel the cold air on my skin the sound of the street the feel of the bass from the club wall behind my back.


Then I feel heavy footfalls I turn a little embarrassed about being caught in a heated make out session I hear Zan take a sharp intake of breath and all I see is a tall man with weird spiky hair with his arm around someone walking away from us.
I look back to Zan and he is still looking at the couple I turn to look at them again and see who it is. I can see her hair now pinker then ever and from the streetlamp glow I see her eyes.
“Ava”
It’s a whisper and she walks away with spikey oh god what have I done? Is that what I looked like when I saw Maria and and ? Ava how can I hurt her. I slide down the wall scratching my bare back relishing in the deserved pain and hide my face with my hair, an old habit from childhood.
What’s wrong with me what I’m I doing?


“Liz sweets I don’t know what to do I I please don’t cry don’t cry”
and he goes to put his arms around me it feels nice safe warm. NO
“NO NO I can’t do this! I can’t I hurt her Zan I hurt Ava she is my friend I cant be happy when I hurt her I don’t deserve this any of this…”
“Liz listen to me ok yes we handled the kiss Ava thing badly, but I don’t regret it it was a moment..”
And I can’t help but look at him when he said that

CHAPTER 6

We are walking somberly up the hallway to my and Avas apartment I look at the door like it’s the last time I’m going to see it as our door. Zan is still silent but still holding tight to my hand I relinquish in it the hold he has, his hand in mine memorizing the feel just in case it’s the last time.
The doors unlocked and Zan squeezes my hand and lets me go. I walk to her room I felt Zan stop I turn around and in the darkness I see him hug spikey hair guy. Must be the elusive Rath/Micheal I’m never gonna meet that guy!


I can’t hear anything behind the door usually there is loud music blkaring or Ava stomping around ah this doesn’t look good. I’m stuck on what to do what to say? Should I knock? Call out to her first?

She did it for me and I’m plastered to the wall across form her room
“Chill Lizzy it’s just me come on get your ass of the wall”

God It figures I was finally feeling happy the Zan thing and Ava understanding. Then Mickey was ok, annoying as hell but ok. Why did he have to bring up my dad???
“Beth wait I should tell you she is here”
“What? Who is here?”
”Not wanting to be rude but what the hell is going on?”
Everyone just ignored Ava. No no he isn’t telling me this no this isn’t happening. I look to Zan for comfort he gives me all I get is confusion.


“Maria and I are back together she is really about what happened!!! She is really sorry she is here in town with me”
As soon as he said her name i felt it through my body. I cant belive this why i just dont understand after everything???
“Rath you didn’t tell me ya had a girl did you know about this Zan”
“Ava I think there is something else going on here”
Listening to Zans harsh whisper to Avas question it hits me all over again not the confusion but the anger. the same anger that made me run from Roswell and never look back.
“I can’t believe you are back with her? Mickey she used you”
“No we have something Blue we sorted it all out she aint using me”
“So she was just sleeping with my dad as well as you then is that it?”


Everyone was stopped it was like slow motion and I can feel the tears pricking at the back of my eyes. Saying it made it feel more real somehow. Made me feel pathetic and stupid because It all come flooding back. I was sucked in by someone just so she could screw my dad. The stares of bewilderment, looking at some messed up soap opera. I can’t understand any of this….


“She used you Mickey to get everyone of her back and she used me to get my dad on his back”
I thought it was silent before all I could hear know was my own erratic breathing and the steady thud of my heart and I did the only thing I now how to do, I ran.
