Prologue
„Will they ever return?“ – Max woke up. It was one of those flashes that you do not know whether they are real or an illusion. It was around midnight and he was sitting in his jeep on a highway outside of Roswell. First he could not remember why he had driven there but slowly his memory came back.
“Isabel I’m going to get us some more tabasco, it might take a while since the supermarket around the corner was closed down.”
“Okay, but hurry, Mum cooks a surprise meal for dinner in about an hour!”
That was all he could remember, but why was he outside of Roswell around midnight?
With him coming home, Isabel looked at him surprised like she did not expect him to come.
“Max, why are you here. What happened?”
“Cannot we talk about my fault tomorrow, I’m really exhausted…I know, Mom is disappointed that I didn’t come to dinner.”
“What are you talking about?”
“I really feel very tired…”
Suddenly Max fell onto the floor being unconscious.
“Max! Are you okay? Oh my god, Maaaaaaaax!”

Chapter 1
“Will they ever return?” – Max woke up. It was one of those flashes that you do not know whether they are real or an illusion.
He felt tired and exhausted, not knowing what happened he opened his eyes slowly.
“Where am I?” – He asked himself. Max believed himself to lie in his bed having become unconscious. As he recognized the steering wheel of his jeep in front of him, he wondered. Why is he sitting in his jeep in the middle of the night? Then he began to remember. Hasn’t exactly this incident happened to him before? Suddenly he started to feel cold around his heart, he got scared. What happened to him?
Alex picked up the phone.
« Hello »
« It’s Isabel, can we meet at the CrashDown? Something important happened…”
“Yeah, sure. What happened?”
“Max has just come in my dreams!”
With Isabel arriving at the CrashDown, Liz, Maria, Michael and Alex were already sitting at their table.
Alex: “Isabel, what happened to Max? You sounded so scared and unsecure on the phone. Is he okay? Are you okay?”
He hugged her with a worried look on his face.
Isabel: “I don’t know what happened to him, at least he’s certain to be alive now. We all haven’t heard anything of him for one week, so maybe this is a good sign and it’s almost over!”
Michael: “Or it’s a bad sign and his appearance in your dream was thought as a warning. We cannot be sure what happened to him after he had left Roswell.”
Liz: ”No, Max is alive. He told me that I’ve been changed with him bringing me back from the dead. I would feel it, if something happened to him.”
Michael: “But he hasn’t sent you flashes in the last few days like he used to do, has he?”
Maria: “Thanks Michael, that helps us a lot!”
Michael: “What? To say the truth? Maybe this story does not contain a happy end.”
Isabel: “Stop it, Michael. Liz is right, their deep relationship connected both, she would feel it.”
Liz: “What happened to him in your dream exactly?”
Isabel: ”It was strange, I was in my room with him coming home. I was surprised to see him because, well we all know that he’s left Roswell to follow the call, so I asked him why he’s here , and he answered as if he didn’t know anything about what’s going on. Then he became unconscious and I woke up.”
Michael: “Maybe that’s the truth. Maybe he doesn’t know what’s going on.”
Liz: “Michael, that’s impossible. Actually it wasn’t our, it was his plan to do that. So how could he not know?”
Alex: “Maybe someone erased his memory?”
Liz: “Isabel, I didn’t even know that Max has the ability to dreamwalk.”
Isabel: “He hasn’t.”
Liz: “Maybe it wasn’t himself in your dream, but someone else wanted you to see him like that.”
Alex: “Now I get scared, who could do that?”
Isabel: “I only know one thing: We need to find out what has happened to him, and we have to hurry.”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 2
Max jumped out of his jeep, he still could not believe what has happened to him.
What was going on with him? This was just to real for a dream , but where’s the boarder of reality and illusion, he didn’t know, he couldn’t know.
Max decided to walk around in order to get his head clear again. He wasn’t able to think now, he definitely needed more time. Not knowing where he was drove him almost crazy. There were things he could remember…Liz. The girl who felt about him like he had never expected, the girl who made his stomach rumble every time he saw her, the girl who kept him alive in his darkest hours, the girl who made him feel human…the girl he loved more than anyone else, no matter from which world! He promised her to come back and he will, no matter which price he has to pay .
His head enjoyed the cool wind the desert usually had at night and finally his brain seemed to work normally again. Remembering Isabel’s strange reaction as he came home the last time, Max recognized that he had not been supposed to do that, but what was he supposed to do? What was he supposed to do here, and where was here?
He needed to know this, maybe it would answer the question where and why he was here.
Maybe Isabel could answer at least one of those questions if he asked the right questions.
Remembering that he didn’t have much time left before he becomes unconscious for the next time, he decided to drive back to Roswell again quickly.
With him coming home, Isabel opened the door with a surprised look on her face, exactly like she did for the first time.
“Max, why are you here? What happened?”
“Isabel, what was I supposed to do?”
“ You don’t know? Max, this was so important for you, how could you forget it?”
“Isabel! What have I been doing?”
“I don’t know, you told us about a call and that you have to answer it. We didn’t want to let you go but you did.”
“What? I left Roswell? Where did I go, Isabel, where?”
“I don’t know. Max, are you okay, are you save?”
“I don’t know anything right now…now…now”
“Maaaaaaaaax!”
She woke up.
Alex opened the door.
“Alex!”
“Isabel? Are you okay? What did you find out?”
“He’s lost anywhere and does not remember anything about what was going on. He feels so helpless…”
“When you’re talking about “anywhere”, do you mean here on earth or…?”
“I don’t know, I don’t know anything anymore…”
“Isabel, you’re really frightened, aren’t you?”
They hugged
“Everything will be all right, we can make it.”
The group met in Michael’s apartment
Michael: ”We should never have let him go, I’ve never supported this decision.”
Isabel: “Noone of us did.”
Michael: “Then why did he go? Why did we let him go? Why didn’t we go with him?”
Isabel: “Because he did not want to bring us in danger! Michael, I can’t tell you much about it because I simply don’t know. Max was really moved by this call, he considered it as very important.”
Maria: “When you’re talking about a call, you don’t mean a phone call, do you?”
Liz: “Max never told us in which way he had been contacted and by whom, he just took it very important to answer. He has never really talked about it, he had seemed very nervous during the last days before he left, too.”
Liz seemed angry and frightened at the same time. She couldn’t think of the question if she will see Max ever again.
Liz: “Back to Max’ second appearance in your dreams, Isabel. You told us that he’s lost anywhere. Where could he be when he still has the ability to contact you in your dreams?”
Isabel: “As I was saying, actually he cannot contact anyone in dreams. I’m not sure that he even wanted to contact me in my dreams. Maybe he didn’t even know he was there. He just came in my dreams and asked me what he was supposed to do and that he doesn’t know where he is. I have no clue where he could be ,not knowing what he did after he had left Roswell.”
She turned around to Alex with a worried look on her face. Seeing into his eyes made her feel not so frightened and a feeling of safety streamed through her body again.
Liz: “We have to find out who he was contacted by and in which way. Maybe the answers to those questions will help us to decide his location.”
Michael: “I think, it’s not very difficult to know who he was contacted by.”
Michael pointed up with his index finger
Michael: “He’s the future king of another planet!”
Liz: “Uhmm, yeah this question is clear, I guess.”
Liz seemed upset. The whole story that she didn’t know where her loved Max was and that she was not able to get in touch with him drove her almost crazy.
Alex: “Why could they have called Max?”
Michael: “Do we know what’s happening on our planet right now?”
Silence
Michael: “I’m sorry Alex, I didn’t mean to shout on you. I’m just confused…I don’t know how we can bring Max back, but I should have a plan. Max should be able to count on me, I’m his best friend!”
Maria walked in Michael’s direction.
Maria: “We’ll find a way to bring him back. We just have to stick together, then we can make it.”
Michael kissed Maria on her forehead and reaches over to hug her.
Liz felt lonely. Isabel had Alex and Maria had Michael, but Max was lost and she didn’t know if he will ever return to her again, if he will ever touch her face so tender again like he used to do. No, she mustn’t think of a bad end, they will make it, they just have to.

Chapter 3
Liz slept restless. She saw her entire life with Max going past in her dreams. When he had healed her in the Crashdown last September and had established a connection with her for the very first time, the rush of images she had seen and his feelings for her that she will never forget, she could feel his loneliness and fear again. When he had helped her to say goodbye to her grandma Claudia and how it had felt lying in his arms, how anxious she had been with Max having this car accident, she saw their very first kiss on the roof after this stupid incident at the party and after she had been able to tell Alex the truth…finally. She remembered one of the most beautiful nights of her life after this blind date event, as Max had told her how he really felt and which role she played in his life. When they had started seeing into each other’s soul last February and she had started having those flashes about the crash of 1947 by touching him, how she had enjoyed the feeling to be together with him again.
How frightened she had been as Max had been caught by Agent Pierce and had been tortured in the white room…seeing these images Liz shaked. Max thoughts had been filled with pain and fear. You couldn’t describe her gratefulness, with him being saved from Agent Pierce. When Max had told her that she was the thought that kept him alive…Liz couldn’t think of a moment in her life when she had felt the same beautiful feeling as she did then.
Suddenly the rush of images stopped.
Everything turned black around her and it seemed she started falling.
Liz became cold and frightened. It was like she fell into an endless hole.
Finally she found herself in a room. It was large, the floor ,the walls and the ceiling seemed to be made of some kind of stone, but Liz could not remember seeing stones like these before. The walls had big windows and a strange wind blew from the outside.
It looked like a palace, but why was she dreaming about being in a palace? Liz couldn’t find an answer.
Walking through the large room, Liz discovered some persons in the middle of it. But she didn’t see what they looked like, she only felt their energies. Looking from one to another, she finally stopped…she couldn’t believe it, but one of them was Max!
He sat on the floor in front of some kind of throne.
Suddenly Liz heard a voice, she wasn’t able to understand he language but due to any reason she understood the meaning of those sounds.
“Zan, King of Antar and Leader of the Royal Four, this is your execution. You are not needed as the King of Antar anymore.”
Going past everyone, it seemed like they weren’t able to see her. Liz stopped in front of Max, he was looking down on the floor. Suddenly a guardian came towards him and Max looked up. He looked at Liz despaired and whispered “Help me…”, then he was shot.
Liz woke up.
“Stephan Davis, the Running Back of the Redskins did only 20 yards today, what’s up with him, Kent?”
“ I don’t know, Bob, it seems like his right knee was still aching against the San Francisco 69ers.”
Maria: “Please switch finally off the TV, I hate this stupid football stuff. Also, there’s something we have to talk about.”
Michael: “What, if we cannot figure out what has happened, Maria? What, if Max’ appearance in Isabel’s dream was really thought as a warning and Khivar has found some kind of trick how to come back here? What, if I fail as his second-in-command and find no way to rescue him? Maria, I have always been able to count on him. Former, as we didn’t know anything about our origin and just having us three, Max supported me in everything knowing that I had not hit the jackpot with Hank. He knew that us three belonged together in a special way and was always willing to show his loyalty. And now, where he’s lost anywhere and searching for help…the only thing I’m doing is watching football in order to hide my insecurity. I feel so irresponsible, and stupid and...”
Maria: “You know what, Michael, it is okay. You’re worrying with your best friend being in danger. You’re afraid of the great responsibility and that you won’t be able to handle it. But just remember what we all have gone through…what problems we could solve and if we keep sticking together we will manage this one, too.”
She reached for his hand and stroked it.
Michael: “ I know…but…it won’t be easy…”
“I’m not going to complain, but do you think it really helps always driving the same way from your house to the cave?”
“Something has to have happened on his way here, I’m sure we’re on the right track just overlooked something! Please Alex, please keep driving.”
Isabel was searching the surroundings for some evidence that could prove here suspicion.
Isabel: “Damn, not a bit, it seems like he just disappeared from earth.”
Alex: “Well, at first I have to get some gas anyway. Do you know any gas station here?”
Isabel: “Of course, just take the one in Lincoln. Just turn left at the next crossroads, it’s not on the way to the caves, but slowly I begin to wonder if there’s any track at all on the way there.”
Arriving at the gas station Isabel decided to get some food while Alex was getting some gas.
The sun set and a part of it was already behind the horizon. Isabel and Alex hadn’t been eating for the whole day yet, always busy driving around in search for a track. She decided to take some chips for both and a bottle tabasco for herself, of course. As she left the store, Alex ran towards her, excited to tell her something.
Alex: “Isabel, look!”
Not knowing what expected her, she turned her head around to the repair shop next to the gas station. The door of their garage had just opened, but Alex could read in Isabel’s confused look that she didn’t understand how Max’ jeep got there, either…
