Chapter 1

West Roswell High School

“Whoa, check it out, man!” A guy taps on his friend and points out a fuller sized Maria walking by heading to Liz’s locker.

“Hey, hey, Maria!” The friend greets with an intrigued smile.

“It's an aqua bra. You know, all the fun of implants except without the invasive surgery part.” Maria informs displaying her chest as if she were showing of a prize in a game show.

“You have officially lost it.” Liz laughs at her friends’ sudden need for change. Back at “The Crashdown’s”, Maria had surprised her with a clip-on navel ring, ‘We are enjoying our wild and crazy years to the fullest. You know, having fun for a change’ she remembered Maria saying.

“No, I have found it, babe, ok? I've had 3 phone numbers. It's only second period.” She announced happy while showing her slips of phone numbers.

“Hey, Maria.” A guy named Niel greeted noticing Maria’s new features.

“Hey, Neil.” Maria replied noticing him noticing her.

“Do you see what I'm saying? Ok, do you want to try this thing on?” Maria offered, willing to let her friend in on the attention.

“I don't know, I...” Liz trailed off as she noticed Max sneaking in into the Eraser Room “…who's Max meeting in the eraser room?”

“Ixnay on the ining-pay, remember?” Maria reminded.

“No, I am not pining. I'm just...I am just curious, that's all. I hate not knowing what's going on with Max.” Liz explained.

“His decision, if I recall.” Maria needlessly reminded her and then both seeing Michael enter the eraser room as well. “No wonder he couldn't make a commitment.“

“Ok, I give up. What are we staring at?” Alex asks noticing Maria and Liz staring at a close door. But instead of waiting for an answer he spots Isabel walking by, “Oh, gee, look at the time. I gotta go. I'll see you guys.” Then walks away to catch up to Isabel.

“Like a puppy in heat.” Maria comments in disbelief of how Isabel was stringing Alex along. How have they’ve gotten so hooked the three of them had gotten over these…Czechoslovakians? And then it finally dawned on Liz. Maria was right. Everything she said earlier at “The Crashdown” was absolutely right.

“Okay, let’s do it.” Liz practically yells in a cheer to Maria.

“Do what? The aqua bra?” Maria asked not knowing what she was talking about.

“No. Maria? Let’s do what ever you have planned to forget these... Czechoslovakians.” Liz cheers as Maria maintains her skeptical stare not knowing where the sudden urge for forgetting Max was coming from. “What?” Liz asked noticing her stare. “Maria you were right…”

“As always.” Maria adds.

“…I’m tired of spending every waking moment pining over Max, ‘just for us to get our hearts crushed in the end’. Your right, ‘it’s time to branch out, to explore other possibilities’.” Liz repeated Maria’s fine words of wisdom from before.

“You and me babe, together.” Maria agreed with a smile.

“And Alex.” Liz added.

“Of course.” Maria replied it wasn’t even an option as they walked over to a heartbroken Alex. “Come on, Jasper Arnold, that Samantha is not worth it.” She says hugging Alex.

“What?” Alex asks not knowing what she was talking about.

“Here On Earth. Josh Harnett, the friend never got the girl.” Liz informs.

“That’s because she died. And beside, I don’t know what you are talking about? We’re going to catch a movie.” Alex informs them leaving their words in their mouths.

“Well.” Maria says in a surprised tone. “I guess it’s just me and you Gidget.”

“Let’s party.” Liz answers still up for Maria’s remedies.

The Crashdown

Maria watches as Liz is bringing her camping gear down the stairs. “Running away from home?”

“No. My dad wants to go to the father camping weekend thing, so I guess partying is out of the equation this weekend.

“Bummer.” Maria says hugging Liz for comfort and then heads back to work seeing Alex sitting on the stool nearest to the door. “Hey.” She salutes. Liz leaves her gear by the door and then heads back to work herself.

“Ok, ok, ok, is she looking at me?” Alex asks Maria and Liz if Isabel is looking at him.

“Oh. Um...she's not...she's not really looking at you.” Liz says taking a quick glance in the direction Max, Michael and Isabel were sitting at.

“Isabel Evans and Alex Charles Whitman out on a date? That's like so miraculous, you know. This is the biggest moment of Alex Charles Whitman's life.” Alex billboards with amazement. “It's just...it's amazing, you know? I...it's totally amazing. It's...it's too amazing. Oh, God! It's a joke, isn't it? It's a practical joke. You two are in on it. You bastards.” Alex whines.

“Alex, Alex, Alex, um, your paranoid schizophrenia, it's kicking in.” Liz warns trying to calm down his sudden hesitations. Alex nods and then takes in a breath to calm down.

“Right. I'm gonna go to the bathroom and go have a little talk with myself.” He says heading into the back.

“Ok. See what I'm saying? These Czechoslovakians have way too weird of an effect on us. And if you don't stay away from them, Liz, I'm gonna be picking up the pieces of your heart for the rest of your life.” Maria predicts.

“No, you're not, because I am staying away from him, Maria. Max and I haven't even talked to each other for days.” Liz guarantees.

“Really? Then why has he been staring at you since he came in?” Maria asks not convinced.

“He has?” Liz asked not aware of it, trying to look from the corner of her eye to see that indeed Max had been staring at her.

“Am I gonna have to do an intervention with you? Liz, make him think that you are over him, that your life is so exciting. Lie if you have to. It's for your own good.” Maria coaches as they head to the cash register to charge Max’s bill.

“Hey.” Max greets softly handing her his bill and money.

“Hey.” Liz responds just the same handing him his change.

“Um, thanks. Haven't seen you in a couple of days.” He starts with small talk.

“I...uh, it's been kind of busy.” Liz answers.

“She means she's been kind of busy. Actually, we've both been kind of busy.” Maria comes in with the save in the moment of awkward silence.

“Yeah, I can see that.” Michael comments not really believing her.

“You know, getting ready for the big weekend and all.” Maria continues.

“You have a big weekend?” Max asks Liz.

“Dates. We have dates. With men.” Maria adds.

“Men?” Michael repeats.

“These college guys that we met during winter break and, um, they're taking us out for dinner...an expensive dinner.” Maria adds running out of fabrications.

“Great. Well, have a good time.” Max wishes a little hurt and then they leave.

“Okay? What was that about?” Liz turns and asks Maria on her unbelievable lies. “Dates? You know I’m going on that camping thing with my dad.”

“Yeah, but Max doesn’t know that.” Maria recapped and then Alex walked over to them with a disappointed look. “What’s wrong with you?”

“Oh, nothing just my poor excuse of a life.” He notes as Maria wraps her arm around his waist. “Isabel cancelled our date. She said she’s going to that father camping weekend with Max and her father. So do you guys still have room for one more on the heartbreak wagon?”

“Ohhh.” Liz screeches in the cruel shock of irony to Maria.

“It’s okay. It’s okay.” Maria assures backing away with her hands up in defeat and protection from Liz’s look of ‘I could kill you’. ”I can fix this.”

“How?” Liz exclaims as she keeps making Maria walk back from playful fear.

“Just give me an hour. I promise. This will be fixed.” She guaranteed her seeing Liz’s killer look change to a ‘you better’ one.

One Hour Later

“How much do you love me?” Maria asks confident and proud sitting on the stool next to Liz who was filling up the sugar jars and looking at her with a tickling doubt. “I just got us a date with two Sophomore Delta Zeta Kappa’s for this weekend. So I ask you again, how much do you love me?”

“Uh, too much to describe.” Liz shouts in happiness hugging Maria tight.

“Okay. Okay.” Maria pats on her back for defeat not being able to breath by Liz’s tight grip.

“Thank you Maria.” Liz thanks releasing her grip.

“Don’t thank me yet. Thank me when we see the look on Max’s face.” Maria says modestly. “So, right now we have to pick out your wardrobe.”

Just as Liz was about to bolt up the stairs, she turn around when a certain section of Maria’s statement, “Uh, you said Max’s face.”

“Yeah?” Maria said not seeing her point.

“What about Michael?”

“Oh, well, I got that figured out. While on our getaway I plan to act more wild and crazy then recommended which is a sure thing that Max will go running off to tell Michael.” Maria says with a smile and pushes Liz to keep heading upstairs.

Chapter 2

School Parking Lot

Everyone’s by the buses getting their things ready for the camping trip. “So, Frazier Woods, huh? I don't know about you guys, but it makes me a little nervous.” Mr. Whitman remarks.

“Why? It's a well-marked campsite.” Sheriff Valenti asks trying to act as if he didn’t know what he was talking about.

“I mean about the sighting. Isn't it close to where we're going?“ Mr. Whitman asks cleaning his glasses.

“Ah, it's 3, maybe 4 miles. It's nothing to worry about.” Valenti replies shrugging the thought off as if it wasn’t anything interesting but then notices Max and Isabel are going on the trip as well.

‘Coleman. Daskal. Evans. Hausman.’

Liz could hear the Coach checking off the names from his clipboard as the kids climbed on the bus, spotting Isabel and Max getting on. “He's gonna find out. They're going alphabetically, Maria.” Liz said worried.

‘Kalinowski. Parker.’ The Coach yelled, catching Max’s attention when he heard Liz’s name being called, holding back and looking out the door.

“No, uh, expensive dinner?” Max said with a cocky smile.

“Actually, there's been a change in plans.” Maria speaks for Liz. Max nods as in ‘yeah right’.

“Maria! Maria!” Maria and Liz looked out into the crowd to see a guy waving and calling out with another guy following behind him. “Maria, wait!” He called out.

“Brendan! We’re over here.” Maria called out waving as well. “Right on time.” Maria whispered to Liz with a wide smile hearing Liz’s sigh of relief.

“We almost missed you.” Brendan says getting a better grip of his camping gear.

“I wasn’t worried. I knew I could count on you.” Maria replied with a sure smile. “Jason, right?” Maria said pointing to the brunette stallion next to him.

“Yeah, and this must be Liz.” He assumed shaking her hand.

“Please to meet you.” Liz blushed.

“So shall we?” He asked showing her the entrance of the bus. Liz nodded, handing her gear to the loading crew before going in as they all did. Maria and Liz go on first seeing Max smiling at them. Maria shoots a smile at him as he the sit in separate seats, Max’s smile dropped when he noticed to older guys sitting beside them.

Frazier Woods

Everyone is looking for a spot to set up a tent. The Sheriff inadvertently gets good reception with his cell phone next to Max and Isabel's campsite. “Bingo. Reception. Hey, you got space for a few more around here?” He asks Phillip Evans but before he could answer Jeff Parker, Liz, Maria, Brendan and Jason walk near Max and Isabel's campsite as well. “Jeff! Over here. Come on. We'll make a party of it.”

“I don't think that's such a good idea.” Liz and Maria say simultaneously.

“Look, there's Alex. Come on, it'll be fun. I can get to know some of your new friends.” Mr. Parker pointed will Maria and Liz exchanged looks.

“Ladies, not exactly dressed for the occasion are you?” Mr. Evans asks referring to their outfits causing Max to look at them and see that indeed their clothes were not camping clothes, he had been too busy gloating to notice when he first saw her at the parking lot. In fact, it was something he’d never seen Liz wear it was more Maria’s style. Liz agreed with Mr. Evans but it was Maria that convinced her to dress…different. Liz and Maria were wearing micro-mini skirts with knee high combat boots. Liz’s was wearing a black plaid one with a black baby doll t-shirt that had a black and white picture of Billy Idol, and a small black zipper hoodie that fit her form perfectly. Maria’s skirt was green plaid with a green Jimmy Hendrix baby doll tee and had a black hoodie as well.

“The look cold as well as beautiful.” Brendan commented.

“Beautiful was never a doubt.” Jeff answered giving Liz a half hug.

“Dad stop.” Liz pleaded embarrassed as she brushed back her long hair from her face.

“Do you mind if we take a walk around, Mr. Parker? Well be extra careful.” Jason promised.

“Well, I don’t see why not. Just don’t go to far.” Jeff advised, hesitant at first to give his permission but then gave in when he saw Liz and Maria pleading with praying hands.

“Sure thing Mr. Parker.” Brendan agreed holding Maria’s hand as Jason grabbed Liz’s leading them into the woods.

Inside the woods

“You guys cold?” Jason asked rubbing Liz’s arms to warm her up. Maria nods and her and Brendan move further away from them.

“I can’t feel my legs.” Liz stuttered out from the cold, her cheeks were rosy highlight her black eyeliner that outlined her eyes, making it impossible not to notice them.

“Think warm thoughts.” He suggested. “I expected you to be still be wearing Khakis and a cotton pull over sweater.”

“What?” Liz asked.

“Cause that what you wore when you we’re a freshman.” Jason reminded.

“Oh my God! Jason Ford.” Liz said finally recalling who he was. “Small Forward for 99’s Roswell Comets and Brendan Waggner, Center.”

“You remembered. I’m impressed.” He said surprised.

“Well, you had an impressive last year.” She flattered. “Oh my God, I can’t believe I forgot.” She said amazed.

“I can’t believe you remembered.” He answered just as amazed as she was.

“Then why did you act like you didn’t know me at all?” Liz asked confused.

“Because I wasn’t sure if you were still Kyle’s girl or not. But then Maria told me you guys broke up this year. I thought cool but then I noticed the vibe you and that guy back there had, I just assumed you were still someone else’s girl and I’m just here to give him that good old fashion Cardinal sin…Envy.” He replied with a smile.

“I’m sorry about that…”

“It’s okay. At least it’s not with someone I don’t know and believe me I don’t mind being used especially with someone as pretty as you.” He said tucking her hair behind his ear. Just then Max makes it just in time to witness the gesture. “Hey man. Should sneak up on people like that.” Jason warns Max who came close to them.

“Sorry. Didn’t mean to interrupt.” Max said with a shy expression.

“Is fine. I mean it’s nothing we can pick up later. I’m Jason.”

“Max.” Max introduced himself shaking his hand.

“So how do you know Liz?” Jason asked.

“We go to school together.” Max answered. Liz was feeling bad on making Max jealous but the feeling soon disappeared by his answer.

“Oh, you go to West Roswell too? I did too, Class of 1999. That’s how we know each other, Miss Cheerleader here never missed a basketball game, unlucky for me I had my eyes on scouts and I missed my chance. Kyle sure didn’t hesitate though.” Jason retells a green-eyed Max. “So enough about me and Liz, what are you doing out here? Meeting up with someone?”

“Something like that.” Max answered shoving his hands in his pockets.

“Vrrrr.” Liz shivered getting both Jason and Max’s attention. “Defiantly bad day to wear this.”

“You should definitely wear something like that on Wednesday.” Jason suggested.

“What’s on Wednesday?” Liz asked just as intrigued to know as Max was.

“It’s a surprise.”

Later on that night, Max walks up to Liz as she is brushing her teeth. “Hey. Where’s your date?”

“Sleeping.” Liz answers, rinsing her mouth and then heading back towards the campsite. “Night Max.”

“Liz, wait.” Max calls out holding her arm. “Is this the way...things are gonna be between us from now on?”

“I think you were the one that wanted it this way.” Liz reminds him.

“No, I didn't. I wanted us...to slow down, not screech to a halt.” He explains.

“Well, then you should let me in, Max. You know, I know what's going on. I've been...I have been waiting for you to be the one to bring it up, but you don't. You're here because of the sighting, Max.” Liz confesses.

“Please, no one else can know.” Max pleads still not letting go of her arm.

“Max, I know you think...that we shouldn't be together, and maybe you're right. But you made me a part of this.” She enlightened him before walking away. Max continued with Isabel to the sighting point and had avoided seeing Liz since the trip ended.

****Couldn't think of any other names that would match Max and Michael's, so I ended up using their real names, plus character last names that they played. "Ford" came from a part Jason Behr played named "Billy Ford" in "Buffy, The Vampire Slayer". "Waggner" came from Brendan Fehr's character in "Final Destination".*****

Chapter 3

UFO Center

Max sees Michael and drags him into one of the rooms in the UFO Center. “Michael, I've got to talk to you about something...personal.”

“Nothing's too personal.” Michael forewarns.

“How'd you do it with Maria?” Max finally asked, not knowing how to approach the subject.

“Too personal.” He said heading back towards the door.

“No, I mean...how did you stop? I can't stop thinking about Liz. Everytime I see her, she just starts going into slow motion.” Max confesses. The weekend had been hard for him, seeing Liz with another guy and onto of it he had classes with her.

“Maxwell, you've gotta be strong. You can't let yourself be led around by your...energy source. It wasn't easy for me, either, but you gotta throw yourself into something else...anything else. Something just to get your mind off her.” Michael advised knowing exactly how he felt. He was furious when he heard about Maria’s behavior and special guest in the father camping trip, but just didn’t let it show.

“Throw myself into something.” Max coached himself mentally throughout the day being unable to get Liz out of his mind. There were moments where tourist surveyed himwhere he could focus on something other than Liz but it wasn’t until he saw her enter the UFO Center and iwalk straight towards him that all focus went haywire.

“Mud.” Max heard Michael whisper behind him.

“What?”

“When you're with her, think about mud. It helped me.” He recommended.

“Michael, I don't need some trick. I can handle this.” He gave a slight chuckle while he mentally repeated the word ‘mud’ in his head as she approached him.

“Hi, um, I just wanted to talk to you about the luncheon that we're catering.” Liz said with a smile.

“Oh, yeah, if it's work-related, sure.” He said with a mental sigh of relief. “It's just...I'm kind of busy.”

“Ok, um, I'll just...come over...it's just that, um...Larry and Jennifer are back. You know, the ones that were there the day that I got shot? And now, Jennifer won't leave. She just planted herself in the Crashdown.” Max's mind starts to wander and he sees Liz talking in slow motion. “It's like, I don't know, she's been sitting there for hours. And it kind of feels like she's been watching me or something. So I came here to tell you that they're here, in case anything should happen...I want you...”

“Mud.” Max unknowingly said out loud.

“What?” Liz asked perplexed.

“Pie. Mud pie. For the lunch the Crashdown is catering tomorrow. I was thinking about mud pie.” Max quickly brainstormed in embarrassment. “I gotta go. I'm really busy.”

“Ok.” Liz said, not knowing what his sudden attack of weirdness and then headed back to the Crashdown where she found Jen crying her eyes out. Liz feeling sorry for her started a small conversation as she handed her a tissue without knowing Jen was about to pour her heart out to her.

“Larry's been chasing UFOs ever since that day. In the beginning I was kind of into it...but now I'm tired of adventure. I just want to settle down. I really want a normal guy.” She confessed.

“I can understand that.” Liz sort of related.

“You got one, too, huh? A unique boyfriend?” Jen asked blowing into her tissue.

“Unique? Yeah, that's a good word for Max.” Liz said unintentionally.

“Max?” Jen questioned. Before she knew it, a conversation between A and B, became conversation between A, B, C, D, and E. Maria and her mom came in depressed because Ernie couldn't make it to the Alien Takedown wrestling match.

“Here you go. Drown your sorrows.” Liz advised handing both of them a root beer float with a side of tissue incase it became intense.

“You guys look as good as I feel.” Alex commented as he sat down with the same gloomy face.

“Root beer float?” Liz offered.

“No, uh...orange soda on the rocks.” Alex requested pinching the temple between his eyes.

“Mmm, girl trouble.” Amy DeLuca asked after taking a sip from her float.

“Oh, it's that obvious? Great. Great. Hey, listen...let me ask you guys a question. As women, do you find that all men are obsessive?” He asked seeing he was surrounded by women, what better place to get advice about women.

“Yes.” Amy answered frankly.

“Absolutely.” Liz added.

“No question.” Maria agreed.

“They find something...” Amy starts off explaining.

“Usually something completely insane and useless.” Maria adds.

“Oh, like football.” Liz suggests.

“Or UFOs.” They all said at the same time. After that unique discussion Maria, Alex and Liz head back up to her room for an emergency sleep over.

Liz’s Room

“Why are Czechoslovakians afraid of getting involved?” Maria asked snuggled on Alex Left side while Liz was snuggled on his right.

“I miss Max.” Liz whimpered.

“I miss Isabel.” Alex replied.

“No. No. No, you two.” Maria warned sitting up. “You guys can’t be pining over them. While you’re pining they’re smiling all smug in their little space ships on how abducted we are with them. We just have to be distracted in order to forget them.”

“We tried that already and I still have Max on the brain.” Liz reminded in self-defeat.

“Well, try harder.” Maria commanded.

“ I am.” Liz got up and answered waving her hands in frustration. Suddenly a blast of energy destroyed a picture frame on Liz’s dresser.

“Oh my God.” Maria spoke from the three. Alex and Liz still had their mouths open from surprise. “What the hell was that?”

“An energy blast?” Liz answered and questioned at the same time still shocked.

“What’s an energy blast doing coming out from your hands?” Alex asked.

“I don’t know.” Liz answered staring at her hand. “We have to go see Max.”

Chapter 4

Evan’s House

Max’s Window

Liz slowly crept up to Max’s window and peered inside, seeing him sleeping on his bed with a wife beater and a pair of blue boxers. Liz looked down at her wardrobe and couldn’t believe she came in just in her white cotton spaghetti strapped nightgown and fuzzy slippers but then remembered she wasn’t the only one in her P.J.’s. Alex and Maria were waiting in the Jetta with theirs and here she was about to see Max in his. She tapped on his glass lightly but loud enough to get his attention. She saw him prop himself on his elbows and then walking over to the window, surprised to see her and then finally opened the window rubbing the sleep from his eyes in case he was dreaming.

“Liz?” Max asked to confirm his vision.

“Uh, sorry I didn’t mean to wake you up but I have something important to tell you. Can I come in?” She asked looking at him all wide-eyed making it impossible for him to deny her entrance.

“Sure.” He forced out with a cough, stepping back to give her room to climb in. Liz turned her back to the window, held on to the ledge and then hopped her bottom on it. Ducking her head in first and then turning slowly, letting one leg in at a time. One of Liz’s slippers fell off making Max notice her bare legs when he bent down to get it. “Uh…here.” He stuttered handing her, her slipper.

“Thanks.” She answered with a slight since of self-indulgence knowing her appearance made him act nervous and wanting. “So this is your room.” She started of slow in the conversation, getting a strange look from Max who was confused by the statement since she had been in his room more than once. “I never really ‘looked’ before.” She said embarrassed tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.

“So what did you need to tell me?” Max reminded trying to hurry the visit right along not knowing how much of this visit and bareness he can take.

“Are your parents sleeping?” Liz asked as she sat on the twin-sized bed. Max just nodded, not really knowing what to say at first or understanding the intentions behind the question. He sat next to her and she turned to face him making the bottom of her nightgown rid up a little, showing a little more skin then he was use to. “Tonight’s been a really weird night. I just don’t want it to get weirder by having to explain to your parents what I’m doing in your room, in the middle of the night, and dressed like this. It’ll be really hard for them to believe its homework related.” Liz giggles lightly as she bites on her lip from anxiety.

“This is about homework?” Max asked sounding both confused and relieved at the same time.

“No, Max. It’s not.” Liz said with a laugh not knowing why she was laughing if what she was about to tell him was nowhere near a laughing matter. “Um…when you healed…”

“Hold on.” Max requested with his hands as he turn on his radio that was on his bedside table and then scooted back to Liz a little closer.

Rush Rush- Paula Abdul

You're the whisper of a summer breeze
You're the kiss that puts my soul at ease
What I'm saying is I'm in to you
Here's my story and the story goes

“So no one can hear.” He explains, getting a slow nodded of understanding from Liz.

“Right. Um…when you healed me…” She picked up from where she left off “…do you know if I’m suppose to be having anymore side affects…you know like the handprint?” She asks noticing him look down to her stomach.

“It came back?” Max asks.

“No, but when we were sleeping…”

“We?” He quickly asked hearing the plural version of her not being alone.

“…and started talking and then bam something came flying from my hand and completely destroyed this photo I had of Alex and Maria.” She retells trying to envision it to tell it accurately ignoring his question.

“Liz, are you trying to tell me that you have powers…like us?” Max questioned trying to take all the information in rationally, just getting a little nod from her. “Can you show me?”

Chapter 5

Liz lifts her hand and try to make the charge re-occur but has no luck. Max doesn’t know what to think but then a sudden spark came from her hand. “Did you see that?” Liz asked happy to prove to him that she wasn’t delusional. Max just nod and took her hand softly and began to examine it. “I was thinking that tomorrow we could go to 4th period a little early and maybe test my blood. Maybe well find something in there like I found in you.”

You give love, you get love
And more than heaven knows
You're gonna see
I'm gonna run, I'm gonna try
I'm gonna take this love
Right to ya
All my heart, all the joy
Oh baby, baby please
Rush, rush
Hurry, hurry lover come to me
Rush, rush
I wanna see, I wanna see ya get free with me
Rush, rush
I can feel it, I can feel you all through me
Rush, rush
Ooh what you do to me

“Well, I do have an Apple Microscope here. It’s gotten me by.” Max joked lightly as he pointed to his desk.

“Right.” Liz blushes biting her lip. “Um…I guess I can go ahead and check.” Liz says walking over to his desk and sitting down. Liz places a dot of blood between the glass-slides and then checked it in the microscope. They watched it from his computer as she examined the sample and then tested his. It wasn’t remotely close so she decided to try her scientific side and combine the two samples and vua-la, a match on the far off corner. It was nothing major like she expected but it was still different. “You changed me.” Liz says softly still looking through the eyepieces. “So what exactly does this mean, Max? She turns and asks him noticing his blank look.

“I don’t know.” Max answered truthfully and scared. Liz noticed his pale expression, he seemed to be more frightened then she was, which was very uncharacteristic of him. She stood up and brushed the side of his hair back behind his ear. “It’s going to be okay, Max.” She promised trying to convince herself as well as him. He slowly pulled her into a hug, running his fingers through her soft hair, triggering her memory of their first kiss, ‘I'm gonna have to touch your hair...cause it's so soft...’, she recalled him saying.

And all I want from you is what you are
And even if you're right next to me
You're still too far away
If I'm not inside your arms
I get dramatic baby,
Yes I know but I need you, I want you
Ooh man, I love you so
Ooh, ooh
You're gonna see
I'm gonna run, I'm gonna try
I'm gonna take this love
Right to ya
All my heart, all the joy
Ooh baby, baby please
Rush, rush
Hurry, hurry lover come to me
Rush, rush
I wanna see, I wanna see ya get free with me
Rush, rush
I can feel it, I can feel you all through me
Rush, rush
Ooh what you do to me

’I have to go.’ She screamed mentally to herself but her body and heart wouldn’t listen, just the feeling caused another flash of that night on Liz’s roof, ’Cause if I don't go right now, things are gonna change.. ‘ She caressed her cheek against his, another flash when Max and Liz finally took the dive to kiss for the first time, ’And then...I'd have to do this...’, and before she knew it she was being pulled into the moment at hand, kissing Max with such longing as if it’s been years rather than days.

When you kiss me up and down
Turn my senses all around
Oh baby, oh baby
I don't know just how or why
But no one else has touched me
So deep, so deep, so deep inside
You're gonna see
I'm gonna run
I'm gonna try
I'm gonna take this love

Ooh what you do to me

He lifted her off her tippy-toes and carried her to his bed. Liz’s arms hooked around his neck and moan subconsciously when she felt his body and arousal press up against her. The sweet sound twitched Max’s ears, his arousal getting harder, causing him to tear away from Liz. “We can’t.” Max said trying to catch his breath.

‘And that was the lovely Miss Paula Abdul with her 1991 Spellbound #1 hit single ‘Rush, Rush’ with Mr. Keanu Reeves playing her leading man in the ‘Rebel Without A Cause’ tribute. Ma halu KROZ listners. That was dedicated to the lucky winner to our Valentine’s Day blind date contest, who will be announced and introduced tomorrow. Some lucky winner will experience an evening of fantasy and romance that ends in the most exciting concert of the year.'

When he looked over to Liz she was confused, she was flushed, but not as much as he was when he noticed the bottom of Liz’s nightgown was a little lifted revealing her cotton panties. He watched as she straightened herself with tears in her eyes as she walked back to the window. “Liz.” He called out, Liz turned to look at him with a single tear rolling down her cheek and then finally exited returning back to the Jetta.

“What happened?” Maria and Alex questioned simultaneously as she slammed the car door.

“Just drive.” Liz whimpered as Alex climbed to the backseat to comfort her. Maria nodded and drove back to Liz’s.

Chapter 6

February 16th

I had to write today. Tomorrow is school and I don’t think I have the stomach to go and face Max after what happened on Valentine’s Day with him. I stood in that crowd after Max regain control of himself, heartbroken, knowing I threw myself into something that just couldn’t be. But I had no idea I was throwing myself into seeing the stars when he would kiss me. I ran home crying and ended up breaking one of my heels in the process. I just didn’t have the heart to ruin Maria and Alex’s night, which didn’t matter because they appeared at my door with video’s and chocolate chip ice cream. I don’t know what I would’ve done without them. Probably drown myself out in this journal like I’m doing now. I’ll write back and if I don’t it’s probably because I literally died of a broken heart.

West Roswell High

“I don't even know how to explain it, Maria, but listen. Are you listening to me? “ Liz made sure as her and Maria walked down the hallway to their locker.

“I'm listening.” Maria assured her.

“When Max kissed me, it was like, I don't know. Ok, it was like I saw things, all right? I...I could like, feel the universe...” Liz babbled not quite sure how to explain what she had seen or even how she felt.

“Ok, ok, stop. Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop.“ Maria demanded waving her hands in front of her.

“What?” Liz asked puzzled.

“All right. I have just the thing for you, all right?” Maria said pulling out a vile “Open your mouth.” She commanded.

“What?” Liz asked again unsure.

“Just open your mouth, ok?” Maria commanded again.

“Ok, fine.” Liz finally agreed in defeat, she opened her mouth and Maria squeezed a few drops from the vile in the bottom of her tongue. “Oh, that...that's really gross. What is it?” Liz shrieked in disgust.

“What is it? It's grief relief.” Maria informed her holding the vile like she were promoting it in a shopping network.

“What?” Liz asked confused, Maria had potions, perfumes and ointments for everything and this was by far the weirdest.

“I got it at my mother's shop. It's this herbal remedy that shocks the body back into reality when the mind's gone into overload. Veterinarians use it to calm wild animals.” Maria educated her.

“Oh, well that...that's great. “ Liz said shocked that she just hand something in her mouth that they used on animals.

“Here, you can have this, and any time you feel yourself spiraling out of control, put 4 drops under your tongue, ok?” Maria prescribed with a smile handing Liz the vile.

“Ok.” Liz promised.

“Now would be a good time.“ Maria advised, pointing to Max who was walking towards them.

“Hey.” Liz said starting up the conversation.

“Hi. What's that?” He asked referring to the vile.

“Oh, um, it...it's nothing. You know, Max, the other night, when...when we kissed, I, um...” Liz babbled just the same. If she couldn’t explain it to Maria how was she going to be able to tell Max about what she’d seen.

“Yeah.” Max said softly.

“Hey.” Isabel said waling up to them. “Something's up with Michael. He's acting weird.”

“Weirder than usual?” Max asked.

“Yeah, no, I just saw him at the other end of the hall, and he just went the other way.“ Isabel replied.

“Well, maybe he didn't see you.“

“No, he was ignoring me. He practically ran into the bathroom. Will you just go in there and see what's going on?” Isabel asked in a pleading tone.

“Right.” Max finally gave in.

“Thank you.”

“’I'll see you later. Sorry.” He said to Liz before going to see Michael.

“It's ok.” Liz answered softly.

The Crashdown

“You and me, Liz. We've got to stick together. All right? Hold our ground. No matter how much they try to charm us, they are like a drug, and we have to just say no.” Maria coached.

“Maria, I try and stay away, but I...I can't help myself.“ Liz confesses but then notices Max scanning the room with his eyes in search for her. “He obviously feels the same way.”

“Ok. Do you remember that commercial? When the girl takes the pan and bashes up the kitchen? Ok. This is your brain on Max.” Maria uses as an example. Liz simply laughs.

Liz’s Room

February 19th

It’s funny how things that seem like life threatening are really trivial over others. Yesterday I found out that Michael’s foster father has been hurting him and I can’t help but feel guilty. Guilty that I was trying to gain Max’s focus when it should’ve really been on Michael. I’ve been keeping busy trying to focus this new power in me, which is hard to control. But what gets me calm is watching the stars. Something so beautiful that made me forget all of my problems. How I wish I could show that Max, Michael and Isabel can see the stars the way that I see them.

Liz stops writing in her journal and walks over to her telescope that’s pointing out her window. She looks in the eyepiece and focuses on the stars. She shifts the focus and then hears Max tapping on he window.

“Liz, I'm sorry. I...” Max apologized seeing that she was busy.

“No. It's ok.” Liz quickly stopped him.

“I know we've been needing to talk.” Max started to say.

“Yeah, there's...there's some more important things to talk about though, and...I heard about Michael. Are you ok?” Liz asked concerned.

“Not really. I've just never seen him so upset. I have this weird feeling that...he's just gonna leave without even saying goodbye.” Max confessed.

“You know, maybe, because if he did...he wouldn't be able to go through with it.“ Liz suggested.

“I can't lose him.” Max stated feeling Liz give a tight squeeze of assurance on his shoulder.

“Have you been…”

“Blowing anything up lately?” Liz finished up his thought for him. “Friday. But we don’t have to talk about that right now. If you like we can just stay here and watch the stars.”

“Thank you.” Max said giving her a quick glace and then looked up at the sky.

February 20th.

I'm Liz Parker, and lately I've been having these feelings, like I'm changing inside, and part of me doesn't want to change. Part of me always wants to be my mom's little girl. But the thing is, these feelings are strong...dangerous, undeniable. It's like I have no choice. It's like...chemical.

“Just friends?” And that's how it all started. Who would have known that two little words from Max’s sweet lips would have started this chain reaction to these most exhilarating and mind-blowing moments of her life? How could she be thinking about Max after getting detention in her favorite science class and later then being caught by the school principal himself, who on top of it all, called both their mother’s and were made aware of the whole ordeal. How embarrassed was she when she had to face Max’s mom and explain why she had been moaning in delight inside the Eraser Room with Max? More than she could bare to show. If only she could honestly say the reason was because of Max’s breathtaking lips kissing her and his marvelous hands touching her body. She blushed at the memory, lowering her head before anyone noticed her rosy cheeks turn scarlet red. And here she is in their last class of the day, Geometry, and can’t even bring herself to look his way without the fear of going sexually ballistic on him and being shot mentally in to space.

“Miss Parker.” The substitute teacher called out noticing Liz daydreaming.

“Max…huh?” Liz moaned out unintentionally making everyone laugh at her very public mistake, she quickly covered her face embarrassed not seeing Max turn just as red from all the wondering stares he was getting.

“Uh, no Miss Parker. My name is Mrs. Conway. Mr. Evans I believe is sitting two rows over to your left.” She informed her not amused by the interruption in her lesson.

Astronomy Classroom

While waiting to serve detention, Mr. Seligman and Liz talk about the Whirlwind Galaxy and red giants before Max came in the room.

“What was that about?” Max asked curiously, wondering what Mr. Seligman meant by ‘I'd hate to see anything get between you and the...uh...beauty of the universe’ line before he left them with their detention assignments.

“Uh, Max, I have to show you something.” Liz said walking towards Max not being able to resist stealing at least one kiss before finishing what she wanted to say. “You know the things I saw, the stars and everything? I didn't make them up. They're real. Max, I saw this. I saw it.” Liz said pointing to the whirlwind galaxy poster that was pinned up. “Max, this afternoon...I think I saw the crash.”

“Hey Liz, you ready?” Maria asked leaning on the entrance with an expression of exhaustion, not really wanting to drive anywhere but remembered she had promised to take Liz home after school.

“Um, yeah.” She said leaning over to look at her with pleading eyes to give her at least one more minute with Max. She returned to her almost embraced position with Max and gave him a small lip-chewing smile. “I guess I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Yeah, I guess.” He said before planting another sweet kiss on her lips.

“Bye, Max.” Liz moaned with sparkly eyes as she slowly pulled herself away from his warm arms.

“Bye, Liz.”

February 21st

Just when I thought the embarrassment had ended, two more spring out from thin air. My mom suspects me of having sex with Max and brought up the most dreaded conversation in every teenagers life, “the talk”. I couldn’t believe that the sentence “I'm not having sex with him” made it past my lips without getting self-conscious. Then at school, I get a surprise visit from Max to discuss my very steamy fantasy I had about him earlier when this whole roller coaster of a needed disaster happened. “You saw my fantasy?” I remembered saying. I was so embarrassed as I heard him stumbling with his words as he began to talk about it, beholding his success of how sexy he made me feel. ‘I had to know if...if...what I saw was...really from you or if it was just my imagination, which...it definitely...definitely could've been.‘ Max Evans having a shower fantasy about me. Oh, I would live to hear such a thing. To hear he actually desired me made me weak for a brief moment, never even dreaming I would have that affect on anyone, let alone Max. I’m supposed to meet him at Michael’s. I guess I just thought that if I would write down what I’m feeling before I go it would make the butterflies in my stomach go away. Boy, was I wrong. I just pray Michael and Isabel stay long enough to control this desire that yearning for him.

Chapter 7

March 2nd

I have been grounded for days now and for some unexplained reason I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. The night Max and I were getting…flashes…I practically ran to Michael’s apartment. Michael and Isabel were on their way out, but not before they offered me candlelight and Chaka Khan for Max and me. I was sort of embarrassed that Max would share something so intimate with not only Michael but his sister as well. I guess I sort of feel like I’d be breaking some cardinal rule if Isabel knew what I was doing with her brother, which was a lot more than kissing. That night, I felt Max’s hands in places I would never imagine him touching. The actual thought of Max touching me and making my skin glow almost seemed unreal, but not as unreal as me actually telling him to take off his shirt. I don’t know where I got the courage to tell him that let alone to actually touch his body as well. Feeling his body lying on top of mine was one of the most extreme moments I have ever experienced in my life and I got to feel it twice in one day. We were so close to reach the next step to our desire. Now that we’re dating…boyfriend and girlfriend…I don’t think I’m ready yet, but when I am, believe me Max would be the first to know. It’s just that so much is going on right know for us to move to that step, first of all we ‘just’ started dating, it’s been like what, a week? Plus, everything with Topolsky, my powers, and this new girl…Tess Harding.

The Crashdown

“What's going on, Max?” Liz asks when she sees Max standing in the rain by the front door.

“I wanna talk.” Max answers.

“About what?” Liz asked knowing well what he was referring to.

“Liz, about what Michael said before, about Tess, I just...I want you to know that I don't feel anything for her. I look at you, and I know you're the person I'm supposed to be with. I've always known it. What happened here that day, when you got shot, and how that brought us together...it's fate. Look at me.” Max pleads lifting Liz’s chin so she could look him in the eyes. “You're the one, Liz...the only one. I could never be with anyone else.” He wraps his arms around her feeling her snuggle underneath him.

Outside the Crashdown

How he hated to leave her, but it was already close to midnight and her father would kill him if he saw him there that late. He jogs back towards his car with a sense of closure radiating in him, a shine that was soon darkened when he laid eyes on Tess who was standing in the rain, almost as if she was waiting for him.

“Max!” Tess called out. “My car broke down. Can you believe it?”

“No.” Max said in a angry tone.

“No?” Tess repeated not getting the answer she expected.

“No, I don't believe it.” Max answered clarifying his suspicions towards her.

“What are you talking about?” Tess asked with a look of confusion.

“You planned this.” Max said more enraged.

“I planned what?” Tess asked backing away a little seeing how uneased Max was getting.

“To be out here. You're doing something to me.” Max stated frightened as he stared at his shaking hands, knowing something was wrong because he wanted nothing but to run back into Liz’s arms where he felt free, away from this unbearable feeling of not being in control of his own body.

“Max, my car broke down. I'm waiting for somebody to help me. I didn't plan anything.” Tess continued to press her story seeing Max was losing his patience.

“I'm with Liz.” Max declares taking a step closer to Tess.

“I know you are.” Tess answers.

“I don't want anyone but her.” Max announces taking another step.

“I'm sure you don't.” Tess replies taking the last step that filled in the gap between them. Tess brushes his cheek and suddenly Max has another flash of him and Tess in the desert holding hands. Unknowingly, Liz is watching them through the door of the restaurant.

“Who are you?” Max exclaims in confusion pushing her away as he backed up frightened he fall in a puddle as big as Lake Michigan getting completely drenched in the fall.

“Max!” Liz calls out from inside the restaurant, unlocking the door and running out in the rain to help him. “Oh, my God! Max, are you okay?” She asked frightened as she helped him up and back inside the restaurant and up into her room.

Liz’s Room

Liz closes her door and has Max lock it with his powers before leading him to the center of the room. “Max, we have to get you out of these clothes before you get pneumonia.” Liz advises as she attempts to tear away the soaking heavy jacket off of him.

“Tess…she was waiting for me. She’s doing something to me, Liz and I don’t think I can stop it.” Max said in a defeated tone as Liz stripped him of his shirt.

“We have to get you out of these clothes first, Max.” Liz repeated as she began to tackle his Cargo pants. “What do you think she’s doing to you?”

“I…I don’t know.” Max stuttered as he felt Liz lower his pants. “She touched me and I had a flash.” Max continued with shivering lips.

“You had a flash with her, Max? Like you do with me?” Liz asked with her eyes sparkling with the urge to cry but instead on of the sugar jars exploded. She lowered her head and when she looked back up at him a single tear ran down her cheek. “ I guess I'm not so special after all, huh?”

“Liz, something is going on with her. I'm telling you, something is not right about her.” Max said hugging himself to keep warm. “Please, Liz, you have to have faith in me. In us.” Liz swallows her pain when she realizes that Max’s is standing in his boxer briefs shivering uncontrollable, remembering seeing him back away from Tess, meaning he was fighting whatever it was Tess was doing to him.

“Come on.” Liz said softly taking his hand and leading him to her bed. She lifted the blankets and directed him to get underneath them. Max climbed in taking off his soaked sox and the balled up underneath the covers.

“What are you doing?” He asked as he watched Liz stripping down to her matching bra and panties.

“I have to get you warm because there is no way I’m going to watch you get sick like Michael did.” Liz firmly stated as she lifted the covers and climbed on top of Max to create body heat.

“Liz, I don’t think this is a good idea.” Max whispered, feeling the same urged he was feeling when they were in search of the orb.

"Max, the chances of you getting me in this position again...” Liz trailed of knowing that she had written about that same position and how it drove her crazy. “…Just be quiet and let me get you warm." Liz said giving him a small peck on his cheek before resting her head on his chiseled chest.

“I don’t think I can get any warmer.” Max said brushing his hand on her back, shivering every time he felt the fastener of bra. “Liz, I don’t think I can have you this close and not be able to…” Max trailed off pulling her into his star searching kisses laying her on her back. Liz was breath taken be Max’s uncontrollable urge to ravish her. She melted hearing him panting and moaning, as she was, making her feel so desirable.

“Liz?” Max and Liz’s heads both shot a look towards the door where her father was knocking,

“Max. My dad.” Liz whispered in hysteria. Liz and Max quickly rose from the bed, Max stumbled about picking up his wet clothes while Liz ran to get her robe. “Just a minute.” Liz shouted to her dad.

“Liz, what’s going on in there?” Her dad asked hearing a lot of commotion.

“Just a minute dad!” Liz repeated. “Max you don’t have to go. You can hide.” She said as Max opened her bedroom window and climbed out.

“I don’t think that’s a good idea right now.” Max said pointing with his chin towards the door, hinting her father. “I’ll see you tomorrow.” He said stealing a kiss before he ran off. Liz straightened her bed and then finally attempted to open her door but couldn’t. Then it dawned on her. Max had used his powers to close the door and now she couldn’t get out or let her dad get in.

“Dad, I can’t open the door. It’s jammed.” Liz yelled trying to unlock the door hearing her father trying as well.

“Step away from the door, Lizzie.” Her father warned hearing him slam into the door three times before breaking in the door. Liz quickly hugged her dad. “Are you okay?”

“Yeah, just shaken up a little.” Liz said really afraid that her dad might of heard Max and her moaning through the door.

Michael’s Apartment

“What are you doing here?” Michael asked not to happy to see Max at his door.

“I'm in trouble, Michael. I don't know what's happening to me.” Max said letting himself in while Michael sat down to finish eating his cereal.

“I'm not in the mood right now, Maxwell.” Michael warned swallowing a spoonful of spicy cereal.

“I almost kissed Tess.” Max confessed without beating around the bush.

“You what?” Michael exclaimed in shock.

“It was like... it was like something was controlling me.” Max attempted to explain.

“What's wrong with you?” Michael asked angry and disappointed.

“I'm telling you that it isn't me.” Max repeated more annoyed by Michael’s stubborn reaction.

“First you talk to Valenti behind my back, and now you're trying to kiss Tess behind Liz's.” Michael summarized with disgust.

“Michael, you've got to listen to me, please. You're the only one I can talk to about this. I'm telling you, there's something else going on!” Max yelled trying to get through to Michael.

“Why come to me? Why not go talk to your new buddy Valenti about it, alright?” Michael continued to press the Valenti issue.

“Would you leave it alone, already?” Max demanded, pounding his fist on Michael’s counter, irritated by Michael’s insistences. “He gave us back the orb. Maybe he isn't just out to get us.” Max suggested.

“Yeah, right. Sure. He's on our side. Why don't we just tell him everything?” Michael asked with sarcasm.

“I didn't tell him anything. Can't you understand that?” Max yelled.

“No, the thing I can't understand right now is that I used to admire you. You were solid, someone I could trust. Even more that I could trust myself. And Liz trusted you. I don't know who you are anymore, Maxwell. So, why don't you get the hell out of my house, alright?” Michael said heading to his refrigerator to get more milk.

“No Michael, listen to me.” Max said grabbing on to Michael. The two struggled, Max trying to get him to listen to him while Michael tried to get away. In the process, a tin cup falls down knocking Michael’s cooking utensils and revealing a black mini camera “Michael.” Max called out pointing to the Velcro-ed camera on the top of Michael’s fridge.

“What the hell is that?” Michael asked seeing Max rip it off the fridge exchanging confused looks a each other.

Liz’s Bedroom

“Liz, are you okay?” Maria asked seeing Liz crying outside her window. “Michael told me you wanted to talk to somebody. That you needed a friend.”

“Max almost kissed Tess.” Liz answered wiping the tears from her eyes.

“You're kidding! You're not kidding. No way, I cannot believe that. What a jerk. Liz, I'm sorry.” Maria said pulling Liz in a comforting hug.

“That’s not even like him.” Liz whimpered. “It's like everything I see with my eyes tells me that he's cheating on me. But everything I felt with my heart tells me that he's not.”

“I just knew something was up with that chick. No, but you're right. That is so not like Max.” Maria added. “So what are you going to do?” Maria asked as Liz pulled away to wipe away her tears.

“I've got to find out what going on.” Liz answered.

When Maria finally left Liz who had cried herself to sleep in confusion, she decided to go downstairs and visit Michael who was working the grill today at The Crashdown.

The Crashdown’s Kitchen

When she entered the kitchen she found Michael and Alex staring at this small screen. “What is that, like porn, or something? Ooo, I'm not as flat as I thought I was!” She said happy as she watched her chest on screen.

“It's a wide-angle lens, so...” Michael trailed off letting Maria use her imagination on what his comment would be.

“Oh. So, you guys need that for... for what?” Maria asked, going back to the subject at hand.

“We're using it to spy on Tess, alright?” Michael answered. Alex switched the camera to who ever was speaking like Geraldo or Jerry Springer would do with their microphone.

“Don't you think that's a little drastic? I'm mean we already know that Max almost kissed her.” Maria said.

“No, we think it's much more than that. We think they're FBI.” Michael informed her.

“What? What happened to partners? What happened to an even exchange of information, Michael?”

“I lied.” Michael said with a smirk.

“Well, you can't just break into someone's house and plant some camera.” Maria warned them.

“I've already staked out a position in this abandoned warehouse that's in range.” Alex added.

“No matter who you think these people are, you can't just break into their house. You've got to be smarter than that.” Maria advised.

“Well, if you're so smart, why don't you think of something?” Michael asked her. Maria pondered for a moment but then a smile stretched across her face.

“Don’t move. I’ll be right back.” Maria screamed as she bolted up the stairs to Liz’s room.

Liz's Roof

March 7th

Sometimes I wish that Grandma Claudia were still alive. Alive so I can tell her how right she was when she told in me to follow my heart. I’ve been going on a lot of faith with this ‘Max and Tess’ situation. God, I feel so nauseous to actually join their names like that. Things have been so ‘Czechoslovakian’ lately. I went to talk to Tess about Max and I can’t believe she had the nerve to blame it completely on Max when she had a box full of pictures of Max. Isabel told me how Tess told her the she was ‘bummed’ to find out that Max was taken and then she has the nerve to ask for my friendship. We ended up finding out that Tess is a Czechoslovakian too. We just don’t know what kind yet. A while back, Michael had thanked me for being in Max’s life. After what’s been happening, I feel like I should thank him for being in Max’s life. He suspected Tess from the very start but in a way so did Max, but Michael still does. He doesn’t trust her. I don’t either. She gave him a book that has all these pictures in it…that always has them together. I’m so confused.

Liz closed her journal and hid it behind the lose brick on her wall. She looked at the clock and realized it was almost time for her shift at The Crashdown.

“Liz, let’s go.” Maxedo said pulling Liz when he saw her come down the stairs.

“Max. What’s going on? I’m just about to start my shift.” Liz said pointing to the kitchen.

“This is important.” Maxedo said pulling her closer.

“Ok. Well, I guess… I guess I could leave for just a little while, let me just go tell Maria.”

“No.” Maxedo yelled yanking her back to him. “Don’t. I’m tired of reporting to everybody. It’s always been the six of us no matter what we do. This time I want it to be just me and you. We need this, Liz.”

“K.” Liz said following him out the door. Maria watched as Max dragged Liz out of the restaurant, feeling hurt because of the pregnancy situation going on between Michael and Isabel.

Michael’s Apartment

“They have Max. They have Max.” Liz woke up screaming, with the memory of Michael hugging Liz to comfort her when she found out that the FBI had taken Max instead of Nasedo.

“Liz. Liz. You were having a nightmare.” Maria tells her as she kneels on the floor in front of her, seeing Liz in a pool of sweat.

“They’re still not back?” Liz asks looking around Michael’s dark apartment from the couch she was laying on.

“I’m sure they’ve found him by now.” Maria suggests taking the damp strands of hair off her face.

“They’re probably on their way back.” Alex said sitting beside her with a glass of water.

“Yeah, I wish I could believe that one.” Liz whimpered taking a sip from the glass. ‘Bring him back to me.’ Liz remembered her asking Michael, but his words were what stuck in her head the most. ‘I will.’ If she learned anything about Michael this past year it was that Michael was a man that would do anything for Max and Isabel, but there were always repercussions to his actions. And instead of her being out there to help them she was here waiting in Michael’s apartment feebly. She needed to help Max. She could feel her bones wanting to jump out of her skin in anxiousness. She needed to call Valenti.

10-Minutes Later at Michael’s

“I’ve been up all night trying to figure out what happened at that carnival. I mean…I know what I saw. Mirrors or no mirrors, there were two Max Evans standing right in front of me. And now one of them is in the hands of Agent Pierce and the Special Unit, and I’m just hoping that it wasn’t the one that we all care about. Liz, tell me. Let me help.” Valenti pleaded as he edged the rim of his Sheriffs cowboy hat to stop the nervous chills that were running through his hands.

“You’re right Sheriff. I need your help. We all do. Your new deputy, Fisher; he isn’t a deputy, Sheriff, and his name is not Fisher. It’s Pierce – from the FBI Special Unit. He’s the one who has Max.” Liz could see Valenti’s jaw tighten. “I can’t tell you how I know, Sheriff, but Max is in a lot of trouble. I think that they all are. Sheriff, please. Will you trust me? I can tell you where he is.”

Eagle Rock Military Base

Maria, Alex and Liz waited for Valenti by the cut fence wondering anxiously what was going on. Suddenly, the loud blasts of the security alarms echoed the dark night air. The three of them then spotted Michael and Valenti both carrying Max out with Isabel and Tess following after.

“Max, are you alright?” Liz yelled concerned holding him up with Isabel as Michael hugged Maria and Valenti bolted to get his patrol car. Max just runs his hand through her hair and then gets in the Jetta.

“ I don't know about this.” Michael said looking at Max through the passenger side of Maria’s Jetta.

“I trust him.” Max answers shaky, seeing Michael look at him for a moment before running to the jeep where Maria, Tess and Alex had been waiting.

“Clothes.” Isabel says giving Max folded clothes and a pair of tennis shoes. Liz and Max drive off in the Jetta, Valenti is in his patrol car, and everyone else is in the Jeep. They come up to a street that goes three ways. Left. Right. And straight. They decide to split up and meet back at an old, silver mine in Galitas.

“Max, what did they do to you?” Liz asks petrified, seeing him in his weakened condition as he was getting dressed.

“It's over. Listen, Liz, if we ever get out of this…” Before Max could finish his sentence, the back window is shot out of the Jetta. Liz screams as they both instinctively lower their heads. Liz loses control of the Jetta, and she pulls over and takes Max’s hand and start running into the trees for cover. With a blink of an eye they are cornered by two FBI vehicles at each end of the bridge they were on. Seeing there was no other option, Liz and Max climb up onto a guardrail of the bridge, Liz looks terrified but then looks over to Max and steals a kiss from him and then they jumped off into a river. When Liz and Max swim out of the river, the start making their way down a stream where they come up to a junkyard of stripped automobiles.

“We've got to hide. Come on, in here.” Liz pleads pulling him into an overturned delivery truck and sits him on a couch as she looks out the side of the truck to see if the coast was clear. “I think we'll be safe in here for a while. They don't know how far down river we got.” When she turns to look at Max, she can’t help but break into tears. “Max.” She calls out before they kiss.

Image

Liz gets flashes of some of the things that happened to Max while he was in the white room. “Max” She calls out again in sorrow. Max realizes that Liz has just gotten a flash of Pierce torturing him and looks down not wanting to feel her pity or her look of guilt. “Max, I’m so sorry. I have this power and I couldn’t even defend us from all this. All this is because of me. The day that you saved my life, your life just ended.” She said connecting her forehead with his.

“No, that was the day my life began.” Max corrects looking into her eyes without lifting his forehead from hers. “Liz, when I was in that room, and they did what they did to me. You're what kept me alive. The thought of you. The way your eyes look into mine.” He said brushing her cheek with his thumb bring a soft smile across her face. “Your smile. The touch of your skin.” He continues as she kisses the palm of his hand and then his fingers as he begins tracing her lips.

“Your lips.” He said before kissing her. “Knowing you has made me human. Whether I die tomorrow or fifty years from now, my destiny is the same: it's you. I want to be with you, Liz. I love you.” Max confesses.

“I love you.” Liz replies and they kiss each other’s faces. Smiling because of the sensual feeling. Liz climbs on top of him and stands on her knees to deepen their kiss. Unstoppable swallowing kisses are taken from each other, Liz connects the shoulder blades on her back as she drapes off her suede brown jacket and tosses it on the cushion couch. Max wraps her arms around her tiny waist and tries to keep up with her mind numbing kisses. Liz pulls away and takes off her green ¾ shirt leaving the tank underneath as she removed Max’s shirt.

“Liz. Are you sure you wanna do this. Here?” Max asks brushing her hair away from her face.

“Max, I almost lost you. I feel like a piece of me disappeared. I need to feel safe. I need to feel you. All of you.” Liz confesses. “Do you want to stop?” Liz questions, kissing the top of his forehead.

“Liz, I’ve been wanting you since I can remember. I just don’t want you to do something you’ll regret later or in a place you’ll regret.” Max advises.

“Max, as long as it’s with you, I have no regrets. I love you.” Liz smiles and continues to remove his clothes, letting him shed of piece of her clothes in between. Max lays her on her back and lays onto of her. He looks at her for a moment, feeling her naked body shivering just as much as he was underneath him. He brushes her hair to the sides of her face, watching her gaze at him with permission and longing. He adjusted himself between her until he felt resistance and tucks on hand under her head and the other arching her thigh. He plants a pausing kiss on her and thrusts inside her hearing her moan out in satisfaction as he tries to regain his breath from the same satisfying feeling.

“Are you okay?” Max asked concerned.

“I’m fine. Keep going.” She pleaded feeling her muscles surround his thickness.

“Let me know if you want me to stop.” He whispered in her ear as he began to rock in and out of her. Their bodies moved rhythmically causing flashes of all their emotions flash before them. Max kissed Liz’s neck a she tilted her head back. Dragging his tongue from the crook of her neck to her ear and then back down sucking in her delicious skin. Liz could feel the wetness of his mouth, the pressure his lips and tongue were making on his skin and imagined find his marks in the morning. His rock was peaceful but gratifying. His hand moved from holding up her leg to cupping her breast to resting on her flat golden tummy. Liz lifted herself pulling Max to the side so he could lie on his back, temporarily separating themselves to do so. Max watch desirably as he watched Liz climb on top of him and adjusting him back in her. Just the touch of her hand on his arousal could cause him to go over the edge, but his thought were put on hold when he watched Liz begin to rock at her own speed. He watched as her climax began to build, running his hands up and down her body, holding her hips to help guide her and held on to the small of her back as she released her stored ecstasy. She collapsed on top of him, then feeling him kiss the top of her head and reach for his jacket to cover the lower halves. He then collected all the wild strands of soft hair that scattered on her back and brushed them to the side in order to caress her bare back. “Are you okay?” Max asked brushing his hand up and down her uncovered back.

“Mmm hmm.” Liz answered and starting giving him butterfly-kisses on his chest hearing his heartbeat stabilizing.

“Liz, we can’t let anything come between us okay? We make are own destines.” Max stated looking at her for her agreement.

“I promise Max.” Liz said giving him another kiss feeling Max alternate from running his fingers through her hair to kissing her head to caressing her back. A few minutes after that, they re-dressed themselves before falling asleep in each other’s arms.

When the morning came, the sounds of screeching tires in the dirt was heard. Max and Liz ran out of the truck. A hummer appeared out of thin air behind them and began to speed up. Max then saw Valenti’s patrol car coming in front of them, stopping and Michael come out of the passenger side with his hand out. Before they knew it, a bright white light flashed from Michael’s hand and caused the hummer’s engine to explode. Max and Liz got in with Michael as Valenti took a moment, completely shocked over what he had just seen.

Inside the silver mine in Galitas

“I don't know how I did it. I don't even know what I was trying to do. It just happened.” Michael began to explain to them what he did to the hummer, everyone except Tess seemed frightened by what he was describing.

“It's just your own energy, Michael, and how you focus it. That's what Nasedo was trying to teach you.” She explained.

“So you did this in front of Valenti?” Isabel asked concerned.

“Well I couldn't let them get caught.” Michael answered.

“This changes everything.” Isabel says pacing back and forth.

“Yeah, don't you think I know that?” Michael yelled. From all people he would be the last one to actually tell Valenti about them, but ironically Valenti found out because of him.

“So what is Valenti going to do? What are we all going to do?” Alex asked trying to comfort Liz who was sitting at the foot of the stairs.

“We're going to think this through, and we're not going to panic.” Max answered trying to get everyone not to panic. He walked down the steps just catching the end of their conversation because he was talking to Valenti upstairs.

“So, you think we should trust Valenti?” Isabel asked as Max walked over to her.

“We have no choice.” Max replied.

“Yes we do.” Tess spoke walking to Max’s side. “We can go to the chamber and be safe, just the four of us. Nasedo will rescue us, and Pierce doesn't want the rest of you.” She suggested.

“Well, Nasedo isn't here.” Max snapped back moving to where Michael was standing. “And Pierce will do anything to anybody if he thinks he can get to us.” Max added completely disagreeing with her. Liz got up and walked over to Max, leaning on her arm.

“Well we sure as hell can't stay here the rest of our lives. “ Michael commented firmly.

“What do you mean? Leave Roswell for good?” Isabel asked not understanding Michael’s insinuation.

“Maybe Tess is right. If the four of us leave, maybe the rest of you could…”

“No. I'm staying with you” Maria announced as she walked to him and hugged him.

“So am I.” Alex told Isabel as he wrapped his arm around her waist.

“Yeah, we all are.” Liz said taking Max’s hand. Max kissed their joined hands and placed it over his heart. Tess just watched as the six of them paired up and couldn’t help but feel rage.

“So where do we go?” Michel asked holding on to Maria’s waist as she rested her head on his chest.

“We're not going anywhere. We're taking our lives back.” Max said sternly.

“What?” Michael questioned, not knowing if he heard right or not.

“When Pierce told me the things they had done to the other alien…” Max swallowed his fear and shaky voice feeling Liz squeeze his hand to let him know she was with him. “I'll die before I let that happen to any of you.”

“Then we have to run.” Isabel suggested.

“If we run, then he'll just keep hunting us and there's no coming back. Are you willing to never see home again? Any of you?” He asked getting a nod from everyone except Tess. “Then we have to fight.”

“Fight the most elite unit in the FBI.” Alex stated with fear and a tone of impossibility.

“Who now knows who we are and everything about us.” Isabel added.

“Pierce does know who we are. But we also know who he is, and we're stronger than he thinks. We may be even stronger than we think.” Max coached them. They settled on fighting back. Their plan was to disable Pierces men and take down Pierce alone.

The Crashdown - Across the street

“It's time.” Tess said looking at her wrist watch.

“What are you going to do?” Liz asked watching Tess close her eyes tight in consentration.

“I'm going to make them see Pierce.” Tess answered. Liz watched the agents begin talking to themselves and leave fro their assigned locations.

“You told them both at the same time to go to Hondo?” Liz asked mystified.

“Pierce told them to go to Hondo.” Tess corrected.

“Can you just do that with everyone? Make them see things that aren't even there?” Liz asked thinking to herself that maybe that was what Max was referring to when he repeated she was doing something to him.

“Sometimes it's easier to do that than to make someone see something that's right in front of her eyes.” Tess answered insinuating her comment towards Liz. Liz simply nodded and turn her head to the side to Tess see the hickey’s Max had left on her neck. Tess’s eyes focus on the reddish marks on her neck that appeared like a familiar constellation. Max, Michael, Isabel and Tess’s constellation.

UFO Center

They all regroup in the upstairs office while Michael, Max, and Valenti lured Agent Pierce to trust Valenti in order for him to come inside and get ambushed. They sit and wait as Max interrogates Pierce in the room below them. Meanwhile, Isabel dream walked him to discover where they took Nasedo’s body, seeing he was locked inside a Kansas Security Armored Truck running downstairs to tell them the information. But while Max, Michael, and Valenti were distracted discussing what to do between them, Kyle had followed Max back to the UFO Center, untied Pierce and gave him one of his fathers guns that he brought with him. When seeing they were distracted, Pierce opened fire to them, Michael, Max, and Valenti ducked the shots, Valenti returned fire but Pierce fled. As Valenti was reloading, Pierce returned but Michael outstretched his hand and used his powers on Pierce. “NO!” He screamed sending Pierce flying back into the projection screen and killing him. When Valenti picked up the gun Pierce was using he realized it was one of his and then spotted Kyle on the floor and shot.

“No. Aw, no, Kyle! Aw, geez, no! NO KYLE! Augh! Help. Help me. Somebody, help me! Augh. Save my son, please.” He pleads to Max. Everyone gathered behind him and were all shocked to see what had just happened. Max kneeled down besides Kyle and healed him.

“What the hell just happened to me?” Kyle asked taking in a breath as his father held him tightly in tears. Valenti looks up at Max who seems a bit drained and gives him a look of gratitude.

“I don't care who you are, or what you are. I'll be here for you.” Valenti swore. “I need a moment alone with my son.” He pleaded hugging Kyle again. They all comply and move away to give them their privacy.

“We have to get Nasedo.” Tess demands.

“I know where he is.” Isabel announces.

“We've got to go. Now.” Max commands. Liz squeezes his hand to acknowledge her presence. “I can't make you do this.” Max whispers.

“Max, you're not making me do anything. We choose our own destinies, remember?” She answers getting a kiss from Max before they leave to find Nasedo at the deserted airstrip. When they retrieve Nasedo’s body after knocking out two of the agents guarding him, they take off with his body and take it to the pod chambers.

The Pod Chambers

Max, Michael, Isabel, and Tess circle Nasedo and hold the healing stones in the palms as Liz is off yo yhe side watching. A glow surrounds Nasedo and he rises to find Tess happy. “I knew you wouldn't leave us.” Tess exclaimed with a smile.

“You're not ready to be left alone.” Nasedo answers.

“You're right, we need you. Show us how the orbs work.” Michael asked showing him the orbs.

“She doesn't belong here.” Nasedo says coldly pointing to Liz.

“She's with me.” Max declares. “We want to know. You're the only one who can show us.” But after bantering back and forth with him, Max determines that Nasedo has no clue on how to function it. Nasedo shape shifts into Agent Pierce and leaves the pod chamber with the order of posing as Pierce. Max picks up an orb and goes to Tess. Michael and Isabel get the other orb. “I want to know. Maybe if we just focus like Nasedo's always said.” Max suggests, closing his eyes with the others following and begin to concentrate on the orbs. Suddenly, the orbs shoot up a blue light, and a beeping sound, like a beacon, is heard. Another blue light floats into view, and transforms into a woman.

‘If you are seeing me now, it means that you are alive and well. I take this form because it will be familiar to you, and it will help you to understand what I am about to say. You have lived before. You perished in the conflict that enslaves our planet but your essence was duplicated, cloned, and mixed with human genetic materials so that you might be recreated into human beings. My son, you were the beloved leader of our people. I have sent with you your young bride. My daughter, the man you were betrothed to, and your brother's second-in-command.’

“Oh my god, Max. Our mother.” Isabel says amazed.

‘Our enemies have come to the Earth. You will know them only by the evil within. Learn enough to use your skills, your knowledge, your leadership to combat the enemy so that you can come back and free us. And that I may once again hold you both in my arms. I live for that moment. Help us. I love you.’

The holographic image disappears and the four of them look at each other astonished. “I knew this was meant to be.” Tess said with a smile holding Max’s arm.

“No.” Max states, stopping Tess by her shoulders and then looked at Liz and then walked over to her. “Look, everything I told you before is still true.” Max reassures her.

“Max, you do have a destiny.” Liz wept.

“And it’s with you.” Max said firmly and kissed her.

“Let’s go home.” He said pulling her out of the cave and walking with her with his arm around her while Michael, Isabel and Tess followed.
