Part 1:

Sweat slowly dripped along his arms as he raised the weights higher, grunting he pressed on to complete his mark. Finally reaching his objective, he placed the bar down with ease. Sitting up he grabbed a towel and a water bottle a drowned it down in a swig, wiping the sweat off his body he pushed his-self up off the bench. Grabbing the phone he dialed the number aimlessly waiting for someone to pick up, “’lo?” She said as Max threw the towel on the couch and headed out to his backyard to catch the breeze on his bare chest. Pulling the lawn chair up under the shade he sat down, “Hey, ‘Ria what’s up?”

“Max, we were just talking about you.” She said pulling a batch of cookies out of the oven.

Max chuckled, “Should I be concerned?”

“The question is should we be concerned Max?” She commented right back to him causing him to quiet. “Max, what’s going on?”

He sighed before answering, “I got a phone call yesterday.”

“And…”

“It was from Sean Thatcher, he says I owe him a job.” Max explained causing Maria to stop what she was doing. “Now, Maria there’s no need to panic…”

Maria laughs lightly, “Who says I’m panicking?” She says nervously, causing Max to mumble, “What, I swear I’m not nervous…”

“Look, Maria…” Max counts down on his fingers, ‘5….4…3…2…1…’

Maria bites her nails, “MICHAEL!” She yells dropping the phone. Max rolls his eyes before hearing his best friend’s voice, “Yo’ speak to me.”

“Hey, Mike, see Maria is a little…freaked?” Max asked sarcastically causing Michael to snort. “Sorry about that…”

“What the hell is going on Max?” Michael whisper’s harshly, “She locked herself in the bathroom.”

Max shakes his head, “Well, there’s no point in bullshitting it…” Michael is quiet, “Here it goes, the thing is Michael, its big…Sean called yesterday, surprised the shit out of me. He says that I still owe him a favor, I guess he put it.”

“A favor…you finished working for that creep a year ago…”

“That’s what I thought…” He said, “But I was wrong, when I asked him to let you and Maria go and get married, without any problems…and he agreed, I had promised him I would owe him one more job for losing him a half a mil.”

“Shit…” Michael said. “You made that deal and never told me, what the hell were you thinking?”

“That you guys deserved to live a normal life without those bastards chasing you…”

Michael shook his head, “We could have handled it without you owing your life.”

“I’ll take care of it, it’s worth it, its one job and I’m out.” Max stated simply. “Look, the job is supposed to be four weeks, five at that most. I’m going to keep in touch with you…if you don’t hear from me get Maria and leave town…I don’t trust Sean…”

“What aren’t you telling me?” Michael whispered.

Max didn’t answer, “Your finished Michael, you don’t need to worry about shit like this…”

“When it concerns me and my wife, I do have to worry…” Max thought a moment, “Max…” No answer, “Max what’s going on?”

“I can’t tell you that…” Max said before hanging up on him causing Michael to look at the phone. Maria came out of the bathroom to find Michael like that.

“What? What’s wrong?” Maria asked.

Part 2:

As Max drove up the Thatcher’s driveway, he eyed the bodyguards that stood at the doorway. Cursing Sean for his very being he put the car in park before getting out. “Mr. Thatcher isn’t seeing anyone come back tomorrow.” One of the bodyguards said without giving Max a second look.

Max eyed him a second, “You might wanna rethink that asshole.”

The man looked at him, “Excuse me?”

“You heard me…” Max said pissed. “Why don’t you make yourself useful by going in and telling your boss that Max Evans is here and if he doesn’t want to see anybody than he can shove his fucking deal so far up his ass…”

“Now, now Max, do you kiss your mother with that mouth?” Sean said opening the door causing the three of them to turn around. Max glared at the bodyguard for second before shoving past him. Sean chuckled, “Come on in, make yourself at home…”

“Cut the crap Sean…”

Sean smiled, “What no pleasantries?” Max starred at him, “A sip of brandy maybe?”

“What’s the job?”

Sean nodded, “Fine, I can take a hint…”

Max raised an eyebrow, “Can you now?”

This managed to earn Max a scowl, “Ever heard of Jeffery Parker?” Max looked at him a minute, “Multibillionaire, owns shipping yards all over London…his ex-wife, Nancy Parker…” Sean hands him a file with her picture in it, “Wants his money and his business…”

“What am I suppose to do about?”

Sean smirked, “The thing is, it doesn’t belong to either of them. It belongs to Claudia Parker. Jeffery Parker’s mother who happened to die four year’s ago of a heart attack.” Max looked over the file nodding, “With me so far…” Max nodded, “Good, Claudia left the business to her granddaughter Liz Parker but she can’t have complete control of it until she’s 25…”

“And what exactly do you want me to do?”

“Liz doesn’t want the company…” Sean explained handing him a newspaper article, “If Liz decides to give the company over to her mother than were in deep shit…If Jeff gets control of it however, we can use it to our advantage…we need Liz to hand those papers over to him…and you my friend are the person we need…”

“What?” Max asked confused.

“You’re transporting, Liz Parker to London, France…of course she has to be alive to sign the papers.” Handing Max some more papers, he looked at Max, “Here’s her daily schedule, she lives in New York with her mother, were giving you five weeks tops.”

“You really expect her just to sign the freaking papers, you’re really fucked up than Sean…”

Sean laughed, “Just get her to London and leave the rest to us…all you have to do is the transport not get involved unlike last time…see where that got you…” Max glared at him before looking at Liz's picture. "Shame, you should have gotten involved this time, maybe you would have gotten laid..." Sean said laughing.

Part 3-

Liz came out NYU reading over her latest paper she had just got back. She was a little upset over the grade she had gotten but could understand why. She had a few grammatical errors, plus, she had a few fragment sentences. She shook her head before stuffing the paper in her folder. She looked up to find a table to get started on her homework when her cell phone rang, “Hello?”

“Hey, sweetie…”

Liz sighed, “Mom….what’s wrong?” Nancy Parker was known to constantly check up on her daughter and nag her daughter about the family business, which seriously bothered Liz.

“I was just wondering if you wanted to get together for lunch.” She asked her daughter.

“I have classes’ mom, you know that, so why don’t you tell me what this conversation is really about?” Liz asked annoyed.

Nancy chuckled, “Do you really think I’m that trivial?”

“Mom, every message that I get from you it’s about the family business and I told you when I’m ready I’ll sit down with you and dad with my lawyer…and go over the papers…so stop exasperating me.” Liz explained perturbed rubbing her head.

“Elizabeth Anne Parker, don’t you dare take that tone with me, you may be a grown woman, but I am still your mother…”

“Good bye mother…” Liz said ignoring her before hanging up. A clearing of the throat caused Liz to jump.

“Is this seat taken?” The man asked her gesturing to it, Liz shook her head. “Do you mind?”

“No…not at all…” She said pointing towards it. “I’m Liz Parker.”

“Evan…Evan Gurien.” He said holding out his hand. Liz shook it, “Nice to meet you…sounds like your having a rough day…”

“Oh, that?” Liz said blushing about the conversation. “You heard?”

“Who didn’t?” Evan said looking around. “Parents they can be so demanding…”

Liz rolled her eyes, “Yeah well, my mother is constantly on me about things that are just not her business…”

“I’m sorry…hmm, how about this, I know this great coffee shop just down this street…” Liz looked like she was about to decline, “I know you just met me and all, and you probably think I’m some kind of freak, but it’s just a few blocks from campus, the coffee is sure to relieve your stress…” He said smoothly smiling.

Liz thought a moment, “Well, I mean…sure why not…” Liz said gathering her things. Evan held out his hand for her take. As they walked down towards the coffee shop Liz noticed they were getting farther away from the campus, “Evan, how much farther is this place?”

Evan smirked, “You know Ms. Parker you really shouldn’t go places with stranger’s…” He said turning around pulling out a gun. Liz dropped her books in shock before backing up, Evan grabbed her before she could run, “I can’t let you do that…”

“What’s going on?” Liz asked fretfully against his body trying to pull out of his embrace. “Evan please…let me go…”

“My name isn’t Evan…look we can do this the easy way…” Before he could finish Liz kicked Max in the shin. “Damn it!” Max cursed, “Hard way it is…” He said running after Liz catching up with her, “Shouldn’t have done that…” He said throwing her over his shoulder.

“SOMEBODY HELP ME!!” Liz screamed. “LET ME GO!” Max shook his head, here they were in an derelict alleyway heading to his car and she’s screaming, rolling his eyes he pulled his keys out and opened his truck, “No one’s going to hear you, this New York sweet stuff…”

“Don’t call me that asshole…” Liz replied in a cool voice before letting out a yelp. “Hey, let me out of here!”

“You had a choice hard way or the easy way…” He told her before closing the trunk door. “You chose the hard way, babe.” He said shaking his head sarcastically, running around to the driver’s side he got in and drove off turning the radio up full blast.

Part 4

Nancy Parker sat nursing the cup of coffee waiting for the sheriff to come back with whereabouts of her daughter. Taking a sip of the cold coffee now she looked up startled when the sheriff came in; “Where is she? Where is my daughter?”

“Nancy, I need you to come down…” He said sitting across from her laying a file down on the table.

Nancy huffed, “Calm down, when I know my daughter is out there with my husband…”

“Your husband, why do you believe your husband has anything to do with Liz’s disappearance?” Valenti asked raising an eyebrow while jotting some notes down.

“Who else could it be? I mean, he’s been after the family business…”

Valenti looked up, “You believe Jeff kidnapped your daughter because of the shipping yard in London?”

Nancy nodded, “What else could explain her sudden disappearance?”

Jim pulled out a piece of paper, “According to her phone record you spoke to her around three pm? Is that correct?” Nancy nodded, “How did she sound, nervous, upset?”

“She was…I guess you could say irritated with me.” She said fiddling with her ring, “I call to check up on her daily…”

“Witnesses say they overheard her mention something about the business, did you ask her about it…”

Nancy shrugged, “She brought it up. I asked her to lunch she believed it was about the business…”

“And was it?”

Getting angry she scowled at Jim, “What does this have to do with my daughter’s kidnapping?”

“We have no solid proof she’s been kidnapped, Nancy…I have a deputy looking around her apartment and searching near the campus for some evidence…until than I can’t rule that it’s a kidnapping.”

She sighed, “And what about Jeff?”

“If he calls ask if he’s heard from her, talked to her, anything, but don’t get him suspicious.” Jim said standing up with the file. “Look, Nancy, you two had a fight, she probably just needed time alone…” Seeing Nancy was going to say something Jim raised a hand, “And if Jeff did have something to do with Liz’s disappearance than I have to put a call into London’s police department. I have no control over international waters.”

“Fine, what am I suppose to do, go home and knit?” Nancy snapped at him sarcastically.

Jim chuckled, “If you wish, but I propose your typical routine.” He stated before walking towards the door, “If I hear anything I’ll call you…”

Meanwhile, five hours outside of New York, Max was trying hard to ignore the pounding against his trunk. Pulling over to the side of the road, Max stalked out of the car and pulled open the trunk, “WHAT?!?” He snapped at her causing her to flinch.

“Jeez, I’m the one tied in the trunk not you…” Liz said sarcastically. “I’ll I wanted was a drink, I’m dying of thirst back here and really don’t think your boss would like it if I were dead.” She said smiling. Rolling his eyes Max slammed the trunk shut. “HEY!” She screamed pounding against the trunk again.

“What now?” Max asked.

Liz huffed, “I said I was thirsty and why do I have to be in the trunk?”

“First off, I have to get somewhere to get a drink and secondly you tried to run…I asked you if you wanted to do this the easy way and you chose the hard way…” Max said smirking at her. Before she could open her mouth again Max slammed the trunk again causing her to scream again, ignoring her he hopped in the car pulling onto the road in search of some kind of rest area.

Part 5-

Max handed Liz the diet coke as she sat on edge of the trunk eyeing him carefully. He had stopped at a gas station in Pennsylvania where he picked up some cigarettes, some sodas and some candy bars for them to snack on. Snatching them out of his hand he rolled his eyes before pulling a cigarette out and lighting it up, “Do you have to do that?” Liz asked waving her hand in front of her.

Max raised an eyebrow, “What? This…” He asked gesturing to the smoke. Liz nodded taking a bite of the candy bar. Rolling his eyes, he threw the cigarette aside, “Do you have to act like such a bitch?”

“Well, excuse me, but if I recall you kidnapped me…”

Max just starred at her going over what she said, “Look I’ll make a deal with you…” Liz looked at him baffled, “I can’t let you go, but…” before he could finish his phone rang. “Yeah…” Max said answering it keeping his eye on Liz the entire time.

“Well, well, Max…”

Max sighed, “What do you want?”

“Wanted to know if you got the girl?”

“Yes.”

“Where are you?” Sean asked smirking before taking a sip of his brandy. “I would hope not getting laid but the girl…”

“You sick bastard…” Max said causing Liz to look up.

Sean laughed, “Now, now Evans, is that any way to speak to me? Especially when all I have to do is press one button and your friends are dead…”

“You…call them off…now!”

“I’ll talk to you later…” Sean said clicking off on his phone. Max starred at his cell before throwing it in the car.

“Damn it!” Max cursed violently.

Liz looked at him, “I’m guessing that was your boss…can I know why he wants me? Money, because if it is I can pay you twice as much, just let me go, please…” Liz pleaded with him causing Max to look down.

“It’s not about the money Miss Parker.” He explained, “I don’t care about being paid…my boss can shove his money…”

Liz looked at him, “Then why are you doing this, if not for money than why me of all people?” When Max didn’t answer she placed a hand on his shoulder, “I know you don’t think I warrant an explanation but seeing how you kidnapped me I think I do…” Liz said looking around.

Max swallowed, “I’m doing this for my friends lives, it gets me and my friends off my fucking boss’s list…” Liz looked down, “In exchange for yours…Sean got orders from someone for me to transport you to…” He stopped mid-sentence.

“Let me guess, this has to do with the shipping yard.” Max nodded, “Which one?” Max looked baffled, “My father or my mother?” Max looked down, “I should have known, “My father never cared about me, always about the business…”

“Why don’t you just sign the papers over to your father, you know he’s going to kill you, don’t you?” Max asked her causing her to nod, “Sign them, give him what he wants…it will be done like that.” Max said snapping his fingers.

“It’s not that easy.” Liz explained to Max, “I’m not going to let my father win by transporting drugs all over the US to kids. I refuse, I would rather die than know that kids out there are taking drugs every day and got them because I gave the family business over to my father to save my life.” She angrily declared before storming over to the trunk.

“Liz wait!” Max grabbed her arm, “About that deal…”

“What about it?” She asked bewildered.

Max looked towards the passenger side of the car, “It gets extremely lonely riding up front, how ‘bout it?”

Part 6:

"Don't touch that!" Max yelled causing the car to swerve and Liz to giggle.

"But its fun...and I'm really bored..." She said reaching back over to his side of the car.

Slapping her hand away, "That's mine, it's on my body, so don't touch it..." He said acting as if he were three.

Biting her lip she looked at it, "Do you use it a lot?"

"Only when I feel like it, and I got tell you, I got an urge…" He said shaking his head and clearing his throat.

"It must be really treacherous..." She mumbled to herself, "It's big..." She said causing him to raise an eyebrow.

"Not really..." Max said, "Look listen to some music..." He said turning on the radio..."See, just sit back and listen…”

“But it’s so boring…”

“Do you always act like this?” Max asked her.

Liz shrugged, “I don’t know, I don’t get kidnapped a lot.” Max shook his head, “You never answered my question…”

“Which one was that?” He asked her.

“The one about if you use it a lot…” She asked.

“No, I don’t, I never use it in fact…I believe in using other sorts of weapons.” She nodded, “Let me guess, you want to know why I carry it around?” She nods again, “Because if there ever comes a time when I do need it, than I’ll know that I have it.”

“Oh okay…” She says shrugging.

Max chuckles, “You’re very strange, you know that?”

“Is that a good thing?” She asked bopping her head to the music.

Max shrugs, “You’ve just been kidnapped, I don’t know…aren’t you…”

“Nervous?” Liz shakes her head, “If I’m going to die, than I might as well have fun while I can right?” Max just stares at the road for awhile, “Well…wouldn’t you want to go out with a big bang?”

Back in New York, Nancy Parker was sitting in her mansion ordering around the maids while recklessly searching for some clue as to where her daughter was when the doorbell rang. “Will somebody please answer that, what do I pay you people for?” She yelled to nobody.

Valenti came in through the foyer with a package, “Ms. Parker…”

“Sheriff, what is it? Have you found her?” She asked rushing over to him grasping his hands. When she saw him shake his head she burst out into tears.

“Ms. Parker, we do have some leads…” He said causing her to snap her head up as if she were never crying. “We know that this man right here…” He said handing her a picture of Max. “Was seen with your daughter on campus…”

“Well, what are you waiting for? Get a warrant or whatever out for his arrest…” Nancy ordered him.

The sheriff shook his head, “We have one out for him, and my deputies are looking for him as we talk.”

“Good, good, I want this man brought to justice, understood, I want him to perish in jail for hurting my baby girl.” Nancy exclaimed. “My baby’s probably out there petrified with this man, god only knows what he’s doing to her…” Nancy said shaking her head.

Meanwhile, in the car with Max, Liz is eating a candy bar while singing to the radio with her head out the window. “Oh girls just wanna have fun, that’s all they really want, some fun, when the working day is done…” Max laughed at her as she pulled herself back in. “Man, I got to get kidnapped more often…I tell you this is the most fun I’ve ever had in my life…”

“I’m not that bad of person, and I wish we had met under better circumstances…you’d see that…I don’t want to hurt you or see you get hurt…” Max started rambling on causing Liz to laugh.

Liz nodded, “Max, you’re just doing your job, I mean, I still don’t understand why you’re doing this if not for the money…but I guess if I was in your position, I don’t know what I would do…”

“It’s hard to explain Liz…it’s a convoluted situation, a real fucked up one at that.” Max said shaking his head. “What I don’t understand is why you would rather end your life than just sign the papers…”

Liz sighed, “I would rather die than have my father transport drugs to teenagers all over the world, if I found out than one of them died because I lived…I couldn’t live with myself Max…how can you be part of something like that?” She asked him earnestly.

“I just have to know that I’m doing this for good reasons besides the bad ones.” He said shaking his head. “Liz, there has to be some way to get you out of this…”

“Let me go…” She begged again.

Part 7:

"God, right now all I want is a nice hot bath..." Liz moaned as she stepped into the hotel room plopping down on the bed near the wall as Max came in carrying two bags. Liz sat up raising an eyebrow, “Watchua’ got in there? Weapons, bombs?”

Max shook his head, “I erm…” Scratching the back of his ear, he looked down. “I stopped by your house…” He muttered causing Liz to look surprised.

“You broke into my house?” Max nodded, “You kidnap me, break into my house, what’s next, arm robbery?”

“No, I don’t really go for that kind of thing.” Max said evenly causing Liz to frown at him. “Look, I just thought that since were going to be on the road for awhile you might need some things.”

“Pick up any tampons?” She asked derisively causing Max to look every where but at her as she grabbed her bag and headed into the bathroom.

Meanwhile in London, Jeffery Parker sat in a room with one window in it, every once in awhile he would look at it than look back at his hands. When he heard the door creak open he jumped up, “I demand to speak with my lawyer!” He yelled at the officer.

“There’s no need for such a voice Mr. Parker…” The officer said in a British accent with an even voice. “All we need is some information and you’re free to go…there’s no need for your lawyer to get involved.” He explained, “Coffee?” “He asked handing some to him.

Jeff glared at him, “No, what the hell is this about? I was dragged from my affairs for coffee?”

“We got news that your daughter has been kidnapped…we need to ask you a few questions…”

“My daughter, she’s been what?” Jeff asked surprised looking at the officer nervously. “That’s impossible she’s in New York…”

The officer shook his head, “I’m afraid not sir…you have no idea where she is?”

“No! This is ludicrous why would…you think I…better yet, Nancy thinks I had something to do with this doesn’t she? Well, you can tell her to go fuck herself and you can right that in your damned report! I had nothing to do with my baby girl’s disappearance!” Jeff said now standing in irritation. “I want my lawyer and I demand to see him at once.” He said pointing his finger at the officer. The officer nodded heading out to the office leaving a dazed Jeff.

Back in the States, Sean Deluca made a pit stop before heading to London. Checking in to make sure the Gurien's were still under surveillance he headed toward the warehouse before going in he checked his whereabouts one last time, “Well, it seems your plan is working…”

“Of course it would, you doubted me?”

Deluca laughed before stepping closer, “No, I just didn’t think Max would go for it…”

“Is his family still under surveillance?” Deluca nodded, “Than we have nothing to worry about, as long as we have them, we have him and Liz.”

“You don’t think they’ll figure it out?” He asked thinking about it.

It was her turn to laugh now, “Of course they will, I’m expecting them to, but by the time they do, it will be too late.”

Max checked to make sure that the bathroom door was closed before dialing the number on his cell phone. Looking one last time he saw that the steam was still coming out from the door, “Yeah?” He heard Michael say.

“Mike?”

“Max, is that you?” Michael asked optimistically.

Sighing, Max rubbed a hand of his weary face, “Yeah it’s me…listen I don’t have a lot of time…”

“You’re transporting the Parker girl?” Max all of sudden heard Maria say, “Are you nuts? The cops will be all over your ass like white on rice!”

“Maria…” Max tried to say.

“No, Max…you’ve got to go to the cops, tell them what Sean has on you on all of us!” Maria said nervously thinking about it, “They can help…they have to help, you haven’t done anything wrong yet, well except kidnap which was entirely wrong, but let’s not go there…”

“Maria!” He shouted but winched when he noticed the shower was off. Lowering his voice, “Look Mike, you still there?”

“Yeah, sorry didn’t know she was on the line, you’re really doing it? Transporting the Parker girl?” Mike asked apprehensively.

Max sighed, “Yeah, but that’s not the point right now, the point is, you got get Maria and get the hell out of dodge.” He said not noticing Liz near the bathroom door.
