She rubbed her eyes and pulled on her apron and cap. She made her way quickly from her room beneath the grand stairs of Harding Manor and hurried to the kitchen to begin breakfast. She found Claudia the cook working hard kneading the dough for bread and Serena was tending the meat and plucking a game bird
"Good morning" she said plastering on a smile for the only family she knew
"G'morn Elizabeth" replied Claudia politely as she left the dough and wiped her flour coated hands on her apron as she grabbed a tin
"I'm going to need you to set the table. Be quick, we're running a little late. We only have an hour before the Hardings wake up. The Hardings consisted of three people. Lord Edward James Harding, his lovely fair haired wife Sheila-Ann Harding and their young teenage soon to be wed daughter Teresa Mary Harding. Elizabeth nodded her head and hurried to the dining room and opened the china cabinets. She began setting the table for the three people. She paused when she laid Teresa's plate out, something shot up her spine and chilled her to the core. Something... something terrible would happen today. She stood there staring at the plate in her hands that costed more than the clothes on her back and the money she earned.
"What the devil are you doing wench!" shouted a voice startling her. She jumped and dropped the plate in horror to see the Lord himself standing there. His eyes widened
"That cost eighty dollars!" he informed her and she gasped stooping down to pick up the broken pieces. It would take her five years just to make enough money to pay for that broken plate!
"I am sorry Lord Harding. Please... Please forgive me!" she begged as she gathered the fragments up. She cut her hand on a shard and it began to bleed. Lord Harding marched forward and grabbed her by her hair and pulled her to the kitchen.

Max rolled over in bed and groaned when he hit a snoring body. He slid from the bed and saw a very young and unconscious Tish Okabe half clothed on the other side of his bed. He groaned and padded still naked to the bathroom. His eyes were bloodshot and his ears rang with the loud music he'd spun last night at his sister in law's club. He wiped his face over with a flannel then padded through his large studio apartment to his fride and pulled out the two teaspoons and put them over his eyes cooling down the blood so his eyes wouldn't look so red and puffy. He kicked Tish's leg and she grunted
"You have to go now" he said "I need sleep" she rolled over and sat up. Her hair was flat on one side and on the other it stuck out like Frankenstein's Bride
"Huh?"
"You have to get out so I can get some sleep. I have another set on tonight and I have to rest" he explained as he tossed her coat at her and pulled her towards the door
"Can I see you again?" she slurred in her drunken state
"You can see me right now" he smirked then shut the door with a thud. He padded back to his bed and sat down with his back against the headboard staring at the large Antique Mirror on the other side of the room. He thought briefly about asking Isabel where she got it from but that went out the window when he remembered where she was. He would have asked his parents but they weren't on speaking terms after he graduated as a Dance DJ and not some hot shot lawyer like his father wanted. For a second he thought the mirror moved but he shook his head
"Must be imagining it" he mumbled as he rolled back over and went back to sleep

He threw her clear across the kitchen and she crashed into Claudia who grunted under her small weight
"She's fired and out of my house. I want the police called immediately, for damages! She will go to the work house for this!" he cried angrily. Elizabeth curled up into Claudia who did everything in her power not to put her arms around and protect her grand daughter. Elizabeth did not know Claudia was her grandmother
"You. Wench! Fetch the police this instant!" he ordered Serena, she passed Elizabeth and gave her a apologising smile then hurried out of the back door to fetch the nearest officer on foot. Edward stormed off to find his butler Whitmore to tell him of the damages a member of his staff had done.
"It was an accident!" sobbed Elizabeth as she tugged at Claudia's apron
"I know child. Come quick before they come back!" she said as she pulled her granddaughter to the coal cellar door. They hurried down the steps in the pitch black with Claudia leading. Elizabeth was sobbing quietly for fear of going to the Work House and just let the cook drag her along. They reached a door and Claudia put her hand over the lock and whispered some words. The door clicked open and Elizabeth gasped
"H-How did you do...do that?" she asked between tears but Claudia did not answer her. The second the stepped foot in the room candles lit from their burnt out wicks giving light to the room and only object in it. A large mirror adorned the wall
"Years ago a woman was burnt at the stake for being a heretic witch. Her sister took that woman's child and ran to America away from Spain. I am the eldest descendant of that woman and you... you my beloved Elizabeth Parker are the youngest descendant and my Granddaughter. I can not allow anything to happen to you" she smiled and took Elizabeth's still bleading hand and pressed it against the smooth glass of the mirror, she winced then stepped back in fright as the mirror rippled out like water. Claudia pricked her finger on the corner of the frame for the mirror then hugged Elizabeth one last time
"May God be with you" she whispered then shoved her hard towards the rippling mirror surface. Elizabeth screamed thinking she was going to smash into solid glass but she passed right through it almost blinded by light before falling down through dark cold air. A light shone in front of her and she closed her eyes against the brilliant rays from the other rippling pool. She flew through the air and landed on a soft bed, she looked over her shoulder and saw the glass smooth out to be a flat surface once more
"Claudia! Claudia!" she screamed at the mirror and banged on it "Claudia!" she cried. She looked round the room and saw it was very bright and vibrant, it looked extremely strange and almost frightening. There were written red numbers blinking at her from a round object sitting on a cabinet. Who over owned this place was very rich, she crept to the window and looked out, she yelped in surprise when she saw strange carriages moving below the window. She backed up and looked for a servants stairs to lead to the kitchen and hopefully other servants who could help her. After she traced the entire place and only found one door she began to panic. The Lord of this House would surely be back, when he did she would be in a great deal of trouble. She walked back to the mirror and sat down in front of it. She wanted to get back, she sighed as she ran her hands over the smooth cold glass. Then a noise caught her attention, it was a beeping that made her jump. She had never heard anything like it before and covered her ears for fear the Devil had come. Something on the bed moved, had Claudia sent her to work for the Devil? Was this hell? She watched terrified as a smooth tanned back rose up from the white sheets. The sheets fell away and the person groaned then reached out for the blinking object and hit it, it stopped beeping. He sat up and she could see his dark black hair set up in spikes like horns! My God, she thought I am in hell! He grabbed something beside the now silent object, it was a grey stick with circles on it. He pressed it and loud music came roaring out of nowhere. She could see no instruments to make this music and covered her ears again. The Devil jumped from his bed and padded off out of the bedroom groaning and mumbling under his breath. He came back in with a bottle of water and spotted her sitting there with her hands over her ears wearing her dirty dress and apron, strands of hair were sticking out from under her cap and she looked terrified of him
"Who are you and how the hell did you get in here?" he asked as he took a step toward the pretty young thing. Elizabeth's widened in disbelief when she saw the Devil was naked! He was coming to get her! She jumped from her spot and dodged past him trying in vain to get away...
