Summary: Max and Liz were best friends when they were in high school, they loved each other but never admitted their feelings. After graduation Liz was compelled to leave Roswell to go to UCLA, her mother was sick and they decided to move to L.A....but before Liz left, she heard something which destroyed the trust she had to Max. 4years after, she came back to Roswell, she got a job as doctor at the hospital. She has to face her old friends she left without a word. It's a dreamer fic, but Tess will be around to make troubles between our couple

Prologue

Mai 2004

Roswell, i'm coming back...Four years...four years since i left and i'm here in front of the Crashdown, the diner my parents owned and it seems that the time has stopped. Nothing has changed, i see the same faces in the street, people greet me as if i never left. That's weird and that's incredible in the same time...I'm at home but i'm not the same anymore, i don't belong to Roswell anymore.

When i came into the diner, i felt like i've never left...the same atmosphere. Maria was at the counter and she frowned at me but didn't talk. I cleared my throat....
Liz- Hi, Maria...I'm happy to see you again.
Maria- Not me...What are you doing here? You remember me after those 4 years?
Liz- Maria...
Maria- NO Liz! I don't know why you came here, but i've nothing to do with you anymore....You left me without a word!! Did you believe that i will welcome you with opened arms? You don't deserve it Liz. You left and you didn't even think to let me know where you were, you never called me. So, please turn round and get out from here. The crashdown didn't belong to you anymore, i can throw you out.
While Maria was talking, Liz was on the edge of the tears. She knew that she would have called her best friend but she was so hurt that the only thing she wanted to do was flee, flee from this town before she lost her mind.
Liz- Maria, please....You're right, i deserve you anger....
Maria- I'm not angry....i don't know you anymore.
Liz- Maria, don't judge me...you don't know why i left, exept for my mother sickness.
Maria softened, she liked Nancy Parker and knowing that she has been so sick, she worried about her health.
Maria- How is she?
Liz- Fine thank you..The doctors found out the origine of the sickness and they gave her a treatment for 3 years, now, everything is ok, but we always have to look after her.. My father stayed with her.
Maria - What? He stopped working?
Liz- NOO! They stayed together in L.A., i came back alone. Maria....
Maria- Huh.huh. Tell me, did you see him?
Liz- Him? You mean, Max?.......No and i've no intention to do it.
Maria- Why? He deserves you to talk to him. He was so lost when you left, he was here every day, on his booth, like waiting for you to come back. You have no idea how hurt he was. You should go and talk to him.
Liz- I can't.
While they were talking, the door opened and a handsome dark-haired guy entered... Max
Maria- Max!
Liz- What, Max?
Maria- Look...
She turned round and saw the only person she had no intention to see. Max Evans. He was in front of her, shocked to find her here and so happy to see her back that his eyes were sparkling.
Max- Liz! You came back?

Chapter 1

4 years earlier- Graduation morning

Maria- Liz, hurry up, we're going to be late!
Liz- I'm coming.....Where is Max?
Maria- Waiting in the car..Are you ready? You didn't forget anything?
Liz- Yes mom! No, mom! Let's go you're getting on my nerves!
Maria- I'm nervous!

They went out and climbed in the jeep.
Max- Hey girls, ready for the last day in school?
Liz- Yeah. Hey what did you plan to do this summer?
Maria- Roswell.....Roswell.....But i hope we'll spend a great summer together.
Liz- I hope...I'm a little worried about my mother, she doesn't feel good and i'm sure i'll be compelled to help at the Crashdown more than i did before, she needs to rest. But, we'll be together.
Max- Of course. And what about tonight? Are you going to Tess's party?
Liz- I don't know....i'm not a friend of her, i don't think i'll be invited.
Max- I'm...And i'm sure she won't bother if you come with me...Maria?
Maria- Even if she didn't invite me, i'm going. I'm not as shy as Liz..Come on Liz, that's the graduation's party....You MUST COME with us.
Liz- I'll ask to my parents and if my mother is fine, maybe......
Maria- NOOO....You have to come. I'm sure your mother will be pleased to see her daughter enjoying a party, after all the efforts you made this year...By the way, did you receive an acceptance letter from Las Cruses?
Liz- Not yet, i'm waiting for it...I'm confident.
Max- All the gang in Las Cruses....That'll be great! Liz, did your parents coming today?
Liz- They won't miss it for anything in the world! I'm sure they are waiting for us there, as well as your parents.
Max- I bet. So you'll ask them for tonight then!
Liz- Maax!! i don't know if i really want to go.. I don't like Tess that much and spend most of night at her home.....
Maria- Sorry girl but you have no choice, we're all going so you come with us. End of the story. After the ceremony, we'll go shopping, we need some new clothes...and i'll have my mother's credit card. She promised me that for the graduation party, she lent it to me.
Max- Here we are girls...Let's go to get our diplomas.

After the ceremony, they joined their parents and other friends. They were all talking and laughing when Liz saw Tess coming towards them. Actually, she was walking straight to Max.
Tess- MAAAX! I'm so happy to see you, come on, i've to talk to you.....Privately
Max- Yeah....sure...
As they moved away, Maria went by Liz.
Maria- Don't worry Chica, she's not a threat.
Liz- Maria!! I'm scared of her and Max is a big boy, i'm sure he knows what he was doing...But, the way she acts around him gets me on my nerves.

Tess- Max, you're coming tonight at my party, right?
Max- Yeah. we're all coming
Tess- All?
Max- Yeah! Isabel, Alex, Michael, Maria and of course Liz.
Tess- Of course. I'm pleased that they agreed to come but Liz? I don't think she'll enjoy a party...She's ill at ease.
Max- LIZ? No, you don't know her! she loves to have fun and i already invited her.
Tess frowned! That little bitch! she has no chance to get rid of her and if she wants to have Max, she has to pretend to like Liz, since she's his best friend. Tess didn't understand what Max looked in Liz, she was short, brunette without curves....really nothing to notice! and yet, he's always hanging out with her and the gang. And Tess hated the gang, except Isabel, but she hated Liz the most.
Tess- And she agreed to come.
Max- Not yet but i'll make her coming with me tonight. Don't worry.
Tess- Oh, i'm far from worried about Liz coming!
Max- So i'll see you tonight?
Tess- Definitely.

Max returned beside his friends. He saw that Liz was not comfortable so he took her by the hand and led her near the wall.
Liz- Max!!! where are you going?
Max- Liz? What happened?
Liz- Nothing, why?
Max- I don't know, when i came back i saw you uncomfortable and i thought that something happened. Are you sure you're ok?
Liz- To tell the truth i was angry that Tess could take you away from us.
Max- She didn't, she just wanted to know if we were going to her party.
Liz- Max, don't be so naive! If she wanted to know if WE were going to her party she would have asked to us, but the only person that interests Miss Tess Harding is YOU. So i presume that she asked you if YOU were going to her party tonight, right?
Max- Pfffff! Right....You're right as usual. But i told her that we were going all of us
Liz- I'm sure she has been happy to know that, but i don't know if i'm going Max, i've already told you that i should ask to my parents first. You're not listening what i'm saying.
Max- I want you to come with me.
Liz- We'll see. Oh, here are my parents.

Max had an idea, even if he knew that Liz would be mad at him, he took advantage of her parents's presence to ask them for the party.
Max- Hi Mrs and Mr Parker. How are you Mrs Parker?
Mrs- Fine thank you Max. Congratulation for your diploma, so ready to go to college?
Max- Yeah, we're all going to Las Cruses, that will be great!......Huh, Mr Parker, i'd like you to grant me a favor, if it's possible.
Mr P- Why not, if it's possible?
Max- I'm sure you'll do...Look, you know what graduation means?
Mr P- Sure! End of high school and after the summer college, but i don't see....
Max- No.....Graduation! you know......the last high school's party....So, i wonder if you'd agree to allow Liz to come with us to Tess's party?
Liz- MAX!!! How dare you to ask in my back?
Mr P- Liz!.....Max, i see that you didn't ask my daughter for it first...
Max- Yes Sir, i did, but she said that she needed your permission, that's why i've ask you for it.
Mr P- Liz....Do you want to go to that party?
Liz- I don't know, Dad....i'd like to know if Mom is ok first and if you don't need me at the diner and....
Mr P- Liz...This year has been very hard for you and your mother's sickness has increased your stress...You deserve a little fun, so if you want to go to that party, i allow you in one condition.....Max, you'll come to pick her up and of course you'll take her back. OK?
Max- No problem for me....Thank you Mr Parker and Mrs Parker.
Liz- Thank you Mom and Dad....Euh, Max, can i talk to you....privately.
Max- Sure. See you later Mr and Mrs Parker.

While Max and Liz were talking with the Parker, they didn't notice a little blonde hidden behind a tree spying them. Tess was so angry to have to bear Liz tonight that she intended to trap her with some guys's help. The little mousy will see what happens to people who wants to annoy her.

Chapter 2

Tess was spying Max and Liz talking. She saw them move away to talk and she'd have wanted to hear what they were talking about, but she didn't want Max to know that she was here. So she went away, with a plan in her head. Liz won't come for nothing tonight.

In the meantime, Liz was talking with Max. She was upset with him about the way he asked her parents for the party and she intends to tell him her fact.
Max- Liz...I know that....
Liz- No, you don't know Max! You had no right to ask at my place, i'm sure that you'll say that it's for the good, but i don't agree. I don't need you to act at my place.
Max- I've just wanted you to come with me tonight, that's all, and as you wasn't eager to ask them, i did it for you. Where is the problem, we're friend and i'm used to think best friends.
Liz- Yes we are! but if i didn't want to go out with you tonight, that was my right. You didn't have to interfere.
Max- I didn't ask you out tonight Liz...We're going there as friends, no?
Liz- Of course! i've never meant anything else! Please don't take the opportunity to confuse me, ok?
Max- I've wanted to lighten the atmosphere. It's not that bad...they allowed you to go out tonight and it's our last high school party. Cool!
Liz- I didn't want to go to Tess's party. She didn't like me and she wants you. I hope you know that.
Max- Do you think that she could catch me like this. I'm an human, not an object if you see well. And even if she wants me, i don't want her and i'm not interested to go out with her. We're all going to Las Cruses, if i could remind you of it.
Liz- Where do you think she's going?
Max- Las Cruses too? Nahh. I don't think so.
Liz- Did you tell her that you sent your letter there?
Max- Yeah, maybe i did in the conversation....
Liz- All what you say to her in the conversation she uses it...So she's coming to Las Cruses too.
Max- Ok, it's too soon to worry about...we have all the summer for that...Let's go and join the others.
Liz- You're right....Max, why did you say you weren't interested to go out with her?
Max- Tess?.................huh....I'm just not interested in her. I'm sure that somewhere there is THE girl meant to me. Like the same man exists for you.
Liz- Max? I'd like to ask you something?
Max- Anything.
Liz- If we're not married at 30, do you want us to get married? I mean, you know in Friends, they made that promise toghether....i thought that, as we are best friends too, we could do it too.

Max was confused. He could make that promise to her but that would mean that they would get married for the wrong reasons. He was always dreaming that he would get married for love, not because they were 30 years old and scared to stay lonely.

Max- Liz....first, i'm sure that you'll be married before 30....and second, it's not a good reason to get married. Friends is a show, you don't make that deal in real life...
Liz- That means that you don't love me?

Max looked at her....He loved her, of course he loved her....but as a friend....NO? They were best friends, not lovers. He loved her.....but was not in love with her....Oh, she disconcerted him with her questions.....with that weird proposal....
Max- Liz, people get married because they are in love one another. I do love you, of course.....But, we're best friends!
Liz- Right...Sorry, i'm disturbed...............I've another question....Do you intend to go out with Tess tonight?
Max- NOOOOOO. I've told you, i'm not interested about her. I don't like girl who slept with every guy who asked her.
Liz- That's the only reason?
Max- Liz, i won't go out with Tess, neither tonight nor ever. Do you believe me?
Liz- Yes, but she wants you and....
Max- Don't be worried about me, i'll take care of my person....Thank you for your concern but i won't fall in her trap, if you think that she asked me for tonight to go out with me.
Liz- All right.....Let's go and join the others.

They stayed a while again talking and laughing and after they fix to be ready at 8:00 for the party, they parted each one with its family. They had planed to go to the restaurant before the party with their parents, but Maria and Liz have to go shopping in the afternoon.
After the restaurant, Maria came at Liz's house to dress and make up with her. She always do it when they had to go out together and partying is important for her balance, as she always said.
Actually, Maria expected to go out with Michael after that party. She asked him to come and he agreed since they were going all together. Michael liked Maria but she scared him a little, she was too extravagant and extrovert for him. He likes quiet girls like Liz. But he considered Liz as a sister.....and her too.

In Liz's room
Maria- Liz, you know they will be knocked in their feet when they'll see you. You're gorgeous..
Liz- Thank you Maria, you're a sister for me...I only want to see Tess knocked in her feet.
Maria- Don't worry about her Chica...She's a slut, every guy who wants to get her....
Liz- I know, but she wants Max....
Maria- And you want him too?
Liz- NOOO...We had a strange conversation this morning with Max...He told me that he was not interested with her for the same reason, but he don't want to marry me...................
Maria- WHAT?? You want to get married with Max?
Liz- NOO...I only suggested that if we're not married at 30, we'll get married together but he refused.
Maria- He refused?? Everyone in Friends agreed, and why did he refused?
Liz- He said that you get married only with the person you're in love with, and.....
Maria- And he's not in love with you? The jerk! don't worry Liz, when he'll glance at you tonight, he'll be knocked out.....and he'll change his mind.
Liz- Maria, calm down! he's right....we're not in love one another.......We loved each other, that's different.
Maria- Don't worry Chica, you'll find the good one for you, if it's not tonight, it'll be tomorrow....(laughs)
Mr Parker- Girls! The boys are here. Come down, they're waiting for you!
Liz- Let's go!!!

They got down and found their partners talking with Liz's parents. When Michael looked at Maria he stayed stunned. She was wearing a emerald straps dress which went until the knees and a pairs of sandals assorted and she combed her hair up in a bun. Behind her, Max found out Liz.....an amazing Liz, dressed in a tight and mid-tight white dress without straps and a pair of sandals assorted. She let her hair down on her shoulders....She was stunning, even Michael and Alex who were here couldn't help but whistled when she passed.
Mr Parker- Ok boys, we have 2 amazing beauties here, take a good care of them. I count on you and behave like gentlemen;

Chapter 3

While they were going to Tess's house, Max couldn't help but glanced at Liz. She was different tonight, amazingly beautiful but different, and he couldn't find out how.
Their friends in the behind noticed Max's behavior and Michael and Alex wanted to tease him.
Michael- Max, stop staring at Liz and look at the road for once!
Max- I....
Alex- Yes! you are and a lot....i know she's amazing tonight but that's not a reason for us to dye because you couldn't help but stare at her. Look, Michael didn't stare at Maria as often as you!
Michael- Alex!!! Don't worry my friend, when we'll arrive, i'll do the same with Isabel!
Maria- Isabel? You're interested in Isabel? My poor Alex, she won't pay attention to you, she's so.....
Liz- Maria! I remind you that Isabel is Max's sister, and i'm sure he won't appreciate what you'll say about her. And you guys, stop teasing our driver, you could get him on his nerves and we'll never reach that damn house.
Max- Thank you Liz, i see where are my true best friends.
Alex- Come on Max, we were teasing you...but the fact is that you didn't stop to stare at Liz, like if you see her for the first time.
Max- I think that i see her like this for the first time.....I didn't say it to you Liz, but you're really amazing tonight and i hope i'll get the chance to dance with you.
Maria- I know someone who will be very jealous tonight!
Liz- Maria!!
Max- Here we are guys, stop fighting! Oh, and please no alcohol too. I don't want to have to carry you in the car!

They went out of the car. When they knocked at the door, Tess went to open it. She was spying at the window to see when Max was arriving. She hasn't had time to put a fake smile on her face so it's an upset Tess who opened the door....But quickly, she took Max's wrist.
Tess- Maaaxxx! i'm so happy to see you here!
Max- Hi Tess. I hope we're not too late, we were waiting for our goddesses!
Alex- Tess!! pleased to see you and thank you for the invitation....Did you take a look at Maria and Liz?

A very pissed Tess gave a look at Maria......and Liz....and she turned pale. Even if she hated her, she won't deny that she was amazing in her virginal dress....not so virginal after all.
Tess- You know Alex, i'm not interested in female.. I prefer male and here i've got the best specimen...but Liz, if you wanted to look virginal, you should hide your body and not expose it at everybody's eyes....
Maria- If you look at you, Tess, Liz is more decent that you're ever been...But i saw in your eyes your fear...Our little Liz is amazing and a hard competion for you.
Tess- I'm not afraid Maria...Competion is good and i'm sure to win tonight.

Liz saw the devil look in her eyes on her when she was talking and felt uncomfortable. Even if she wasn't scared of Tess, she didn't like her and she was aware that Tess hated her and would do her best to annoy her.
Tess- Well come on in, Max. We have a long night ahead to enjoy...let's go dance.
While, Tess led Max dancing, the others wandered among the guests. Alex noticed Isabel...
Alex- Sorry guys, i saw my goddess and i'm trying to dance with her
Liz- Good luck Alex...I hope u'll save a dance for me?
Alex- Of course dear.

Alex leaving, Michael and Maria excused themselves and went to dance too. Liz was alone, wandering. She went to the bar.. Tommy was serving.
Liz- Hi, there is alcohol in the punch?
Tommy- Hi Liz.....Whaou! you're stunning tonight! i hope i could dance with you....and.....
Liz- Tommy, i was just asking about the punch.
Tommy smirked....There was alcohol in the punch but Tess demanded to shut up. So, with his most innocent look he answered....
Tommy- NO! No alcohol tonight if not, Tess would be gronded for a long time.
Liz- Ok, i'm thirsty, could you give me a long glass?
Tommy- Sure baby....Tonight will be your night!
Liz left without saying a word, she knew that Tommy wanted to go out with her but he mostly wanted to get in her pants....and she was not ready to that step yet.

She noticed that Max and Tess were dancing and Tess was clinging to Max, she smiled....that poor Tess, she was so eager to get Max that she was acting like a whore..But Liz felt a pang of jealousy when she saw Max's expression. Eyes closed he was enjoying the dance....that jerk!
Kyle- Hey Liz, you're amazing tonight!
Liz- Kyle, you're startled me! hi...
Kyle- Dance with me, i want everyone be envious of me tonight as i dance with the most beautiful girl of the party.
Liz- Kyle! where are your eyes? look around and you'll find.....
Kyle- No one more amazing than you. Come on...They'll be jealous...
Liz- Who are you talking about?
Kyle- All of them, boys and girls....

Kyle had a crush on Liz since a long time but she always saw him like a friend...a good friend who made her laugh but only a friend. But tonight, as Max is busy with Tess, he thought that maybe she would see him otherwise. A slow song was playing and they lowered the lights. Liz felt dizzy and she held Kyle more tight, and misunderstanding her move, he wispered in her ears....
Kyle- Liz, come on out we'll be better...
Liz- Ok, i don't feel so good.
He took her hand and led her in the gardens. He knew that there was a bunch where they could sit and make out. He dreamed to kiss Liz since so long.
The fresh air woke up Liz and she was pleased to be out that smoked atmosphere for a while. She didn't regret her coming but she was a little boring.
They sat on the bunch...there was a window opened behind and they heard people whispering.....
- Hummm, you're so good....
- You too....so hot...so wet....
- I'm sure i'm better than Liz.....

When she acknowledged the voices, Liz froze....Max and Tess....and they were far to only talk....when she heard Tess's statement, Liz opened her ears waiting for Max's answer...

Max- Liz? Who's Liz?
Tess- The little bitch you're always hanging out with.....
Max- Nahh....You're better than Liz...

Liz was dying on the bunch...

Tess- She's frigid, i'm sure?
Max- I don't know....i've never been interested to get in her pants.....but stop talking about her....we have something better to do.....
Tess- OH YEAH.......MAAAAAAAAAXX!

Liz was shocked...her best friend Max....talking about her like she was a piece of shit.....Tears were flowing on her cheeks and she didn't care..All what she wanted was flee from that place....
She looked at Kyle who was sorry for her....she didn't deserve what that jerk said.
Liz- Take me to my home, please....
Kyle- Sure, come on........humm....Liz, i'm sorry....
Liz- It's not your fault, Kyle.....

Chapter 4

Kyle dropped Liz off and walked with her until the door. She was silent but he knew that she was bowling inside.
Kyle- Liz, i'm sorry for tonight and i would have him in front of me now to put my fist in his face....that jerk didn' t deserve a girl like you...
Liz- Kyle, Max and i are only friends, i'd hope best friends, but just friends.....I'm not his girlfriend, but i'm furious cause he would have chosen another one than that whore...
Kyle- You know that i'm your friend too and if you need a shoulder, i'll be pleased to lend you mine. But, if you need someone to make have fun, i'm here too.
Liz- Thank you, Kyle, i know that you're a good guy....for the moment, i only need to sleep...you know, i didn't want to go to that party, that's Max who insists....now, i regret i didn't say him NO...but it's a good lesson, you don't know really your friends..
Kyle- Maybe she drugged him....
Liz- Nah......but now that you're talking.....tell me there was alcohol in that punch, right?
Kyle- Of course, why?
Liz- That asshole....
Kyle- Who? Max?
Liz- No Tommy, he told me that that was a no alcohol punch, that's why i felt so bad when we were dancing.....
Kyle- OH.....Maybe, Max drunk it too....and he lost his mind.....
Liz- Kyle....no excuse for that jerk.....when i remind me of what he said before...that he was not interested in her....that he would never go out with her....now, he was sleeping with this whore....the whore and the asshole? a fantastic item, don't they?
Kyle- Liz, stop that...it won't make you feel better and i don't want you to collapse in tears..Try to sleep, tomorrow is a new day....
Liz- Ok....thank you Kyle....and sorry.
Kyle- You don't have to thank me and don't be sorry...i'm happy if i had help a little. Bye
Liz- Bye Kyle

She kissed him on the cheeks and Kyle dreamed that it's was a begining for them...maybe, later......After he left her, he returned to the party to find Max and to show him how to behave with a lady like Liz....G-d, she was so amazing tonight...if he could go out with her, he would treat her like a princess she is....

In the meantime, at the party.....
Maria- Michael, it's been long since i haven't seen Liz...would you mind if we go and look for her?
Michael- Come on, i hope nothing bad had happened to her....Look, here's Alex.......Alex!! come here.....did you see Liz? She's not here..
Alex- No, i left her to go to Isabel it's been a while......(looking around) but you're right i don't see her anywhere...I see Max overthere....whaou! he doesn't look very fresh.....
Maria- MAX!!! What the hell have you been? we're looking for Liz, did you see her?
Max- N...No..pe.....whaou....my head's hurting!
Maria- Where were you?
Max- There....actually, i don't remember very well....i was there dancing with Tess....after she needed to seek some drinks and i went with her to help her...but i didn't feel good, so i went to the bathroom to refresh a little.....and here i am....Come on, we're going to look for Liz in the gardens, maybe, she drank too and she needed to breathe....

They went all over the garden, calling and seeking Liz...but they didn't find her..Max decided they should return to the house to look if she was not in some bathroom and in a room trying to rest....
As soon as they reached the living, Max bumped into someone and found himself, knock out, on the ground...
Michael- What the matter with you, Kyle? Are you crasy? Why did you hit him?

In the meantime, Liz was in her room crying....She couldn't believe what she heard, her best friend Max laughing at her with that......that.....anyone but that whore....she could stand anyone but her...And he chose to sleep with that slut.....but the worse for Liz was to have heard what he has said about herself...."you're better than Liz....i've never been interested to get in her pants"! that asshole, of course they were best friends!
Liz felt like if her heart was tearing, like if she had lost a part of her ....Max, her best friend, the boy she trusted the more was cheating on her with the girl she hated the most....
She heard a knock at the door....

Mr P- Lizzie?........may i come in?

Liz collapsed in her father's arms crying....a cancer? her mother has a cancer? Her father was stroking her hair trying to sooth her...after a while she looked up at him...He looked devasted too and there were tears in the corner of his eyes...

Liz- Did she say if they'll be able to save her...do we have time to heal her or.....
Mr P- She said that sooner we got there the better for your mother to have treatment. Tomorrow morning, i'll settle that with the hospital. They'll say which hospital is the best for her sickness, i'll do all what i'll be able to do to give her the best treatments, don't worry honey.
Liz- Did they say when do we have to leave?
Mr P- They advised the sooner for your mother's sake....

Liz straightened herself and held her father's shoulder, looking into his eyes...

Liz- Dad, you take care of mom and i'll do the same here. Don't worry about the removal, i'll do it.
Mr P- You'll call Maria and all your friends to help you?
Liz- Dad, i'm a big girl and i know what i've to do here. Please. Tell me are you sure we couldn't see mom tonight?

One by one, they went out for Michael's appartment. Max, completely sober now, walked to his car sadly....He screwed everything tonight and the most, Liz's trust and friendship....

Chapter 7

After Max left, Liz returned to her bed crying...her best friend betrayed their friendship and it was hard for her, mostly because now more than anytime she needed him, with her mother at the hospital, she didn't know to whom she could turn. She heard a knock at the door.

MrP- Lizzie, everything is ok?
Liz- Yes, dad...come on in if you want...
MrP- Lizzie, with whom you were talking earlier?
Liz- Max
MrP- Liz, is there something that i need to know?
Liz- Dad, don't worry i can handle the situation..
MrP- But you're crying again?
Liz- It's hard to lose friends

Liz shook her head to say no, but couldn't talk. She was on the edge of tears, her world was turning upside down with her mother's sickness, the next removal and her bestfriend's betrayal...that was too much for her.

Liz stood up from her bed and took him in her embrace, she knew that he was as scared as her about her mother but he couldn't show it. After kissing her, he left.
After a while, Liz was so exhausted that she fell asleep.

Some streets further, Max was on his bed reflecting about the evening. He couldn't remember what really happened at the party. After they arrived, he had agreed to dance with Tess, she was the host and he didn't dare to refuse...after that, he helped her to carry some drinks from the kitchen and he remembered that she told him to go to her bathroom to refresh. That's what he did....but what happened after that?? He couldn't find out. Did he really say those things about Liz....to Tess!! He didn't like her, he danced with her to be polite...Did he sleep with her? It's impossible....
He spent hours thinking about that evening until he fell asleep...

The morning after, Maria called Liz.
Liz- Hello?
Maria- Hi chica, how are you? No, i'm sure you're.......

Maria knocked at the door, she was not sure he was awaken cause he didn't answer... She hesitated 2 seconds and decided to enter in the room without waiting for his permission. If he was sleeping she'll return and if he was in the shower, she'll wait.
Actually, she found him on his bed, with his arms under his head and the eyes on the ceiling..

Max- If i don't want to answer Is, that means that i want you to leave me alone, so get out!!
Maria- Max, that's me.

Max stood up, worried

Max- Maria, what are you doing here, something's wrong with Liz?
Maria- It's too late to worry if you're thinking about last night, but yes something's wrong, her mother is at the hospital and Liz refuses to see any of us.

Chapter 8

This morning, Mr Parker and Liz had a meeting with the doctor Allenby, she had to announce them what did they find about Mrs Parker sickness. Liz wanted to discuss first with the doctor, hoping that she would have some good news to tell them, but when they got in the office, the doctor's look was far from hopeful.

MrP- Dr Allenby could you tell us what did you find about my wife?
Dr- You already know that she has a cancer in the lungs, and without obvious reason, her cancer was getting worse lately, maybe the stress...we don't really know. We have to react very rapidly, the best to do is to operate her but unfortunately we're not equiped for this kind of operation. That's why, i've told you that you should move to L.A. They are the full equipement to treat her, cause she'll need some chemotherapy.

Liz and her father were shocked from the news, they didn't think about something so serious. They looked at each other trying to find some comfort in the other's eyes, but they found only fear and pain. Mr Parker felt like he has to be strong for his wife and for his daughter, she was too young to endure that ordeal, but he has a last question for the doctor.

MrP- Doctor, are you still optimist? I mean what are the odds to save her?
Dr- I'm always optimist...but i can't respond to your question. It's not from my competence. You'll go to Sinaï hospital and see Dr Ross, he's the specialist for that kind of pathology, i'm going to write a letter for him and he'll take in charge Mrs Parker. I prefer to not give you information than a false one.
Liz- May i go and see my mom?
Dr- Of course Liz, i'm sure she's waiting for you.....But Liz, to heal your mother needs hope, so i count on you to show her a bright smile and never let her know the seriousness of her sickness.

While Liz was at the hospital with her father, Maria was still with Max. He has been devasted to hear about Liz's mother and was torn to know that he was helpless for his bestfriend.

Max- Maria, even if she doesn't want to see us, we should go to the hospital to be with her, no?

Chapter 9

After dropping Isabel at her house, Alex called Maria, he had to tell her what he learned about Tess and the party. Isabel said that Tess got Max that night if she trapped him in her bathroom....A lot of questions was spining in his mind but he couldn't understand how they could have sex with Max drunk...Did she take advantage of him? It sounded like she raped him, even if he didn't know if Max was still a virgin, he was shocked.

"Hello?" Maria looked a little stressed, but Alex didn't want to let her talk the first if not he'll be there until the next morning and that was too important for her to know about Max and Tess.

"Maria, that's me, listen i just left Isabel", she was annoyed to be in her car, she didn't have enough time before arriving at the hospital to listen to Alex and she was curious to know what she told him. "I can't! silly, it's for you...Alex was with your sister this morning and i want to know what she's said about Tess" Maria was upset, she understood that Max was eager to reach the hospital, but all that mess was his fault and she had to know what happened last night, for her 2 best friends.
"Alex, i'm listening to you...What did she say?"

"Look, she didn't know that Max and Tess slept together, even if she spent the night with her, Tess didn't tell her about that"

Maria was stunned, that's not Tess's habit to hide something to her best friend. Something was wrong and she had to find what.
"Maria, are you here? Did you hear what i said?" Alex was surprised, his friend Maria was too quiet, she didn't get used to not yell or cut someone talking "Maria?"

"I'm here Alex, i wonder why she hid something like that....What else did she tell you?"

"She said that she was certain that Tess got Max cause she told her that she'll try to make him go to the bathroom......" THAT DEVIL! I knew it.....i knew that was a trap!" Maria became the real Maria hearing those news.
Max startled when he heard her crying out. "What the hell, Maria? Stop yelling in my ears, i'm sure Alex is deaf.....What are you talking about? What trap?"

Maria looked at Max like if she was surprised to find him beside her "silly, i'm talking about the trap you fell into last night...that was a set up! Tess told you to go to the bathroom cause she was certain to get you here, and that's what happened!" Maria was furious to see that Tess won and she was sad for Liz, all the story was true.
"Alex, did she say something else?"
"Yeah, she said that Tess intended to get Max and Liz apart to take advantage of the situation, and she said that they certainly put something in the punch to make everyone so drunk"

"So our little whore has planed that trap to get Max in her bed and screw his friendship with Liz?" Maria was reflecting, she had to prepare Liz's revenge even if her friend was too busy with her mother' sickness.

She looked at Max who was waiting for the explanations.
"You know, you don't deserve any of us....you fell in the trap like a jerk, she made fun of you and you were so stupid that you didn't know it" Maria was disgusting, because of that whore, two of her best friends are separated by a wall of silence. Liz didn't want to talk to Max, and Max was scared to be rejected.

"Alex, with Max we're going to the hospital to see Liz's mother. I call you back when i go out from there"
She felt sorry for her friend, not only her best friend betrayed her, but her mother was stuck in an hospital room, and they're here discussing about that little bitch!

"Maria, tell Liz that i love her, will you" Alex was sad too. Their friend needs them beside her and he knew that they'll do all what in their power to support her.

Maria and Max continued the ride to the hospital. They ran to get up to the room, there, Maria knocked at the door. Max took her hand and she squeezed it knowing that he was terrified to face Liz.
The door opened slowly and Liz stared at them, angry.

"How dare you Maria to come since i've told you that i didn't want anyone here? And why did you bring him with you? You can return from where you come, i don't need you. I don't need any of you and i don't want to see you anymore. Do you hear me?" She was so upset to see them, to see Max in front of her since she told him to leave her alone forever...she coudn't stand to have him around her and even if she made Maria feel bad, she didn't care anymore. She wanted to be with her family and take care of them....end of the story.
