Summary: Liz Parker is dating Zan Evans. What happens when his brother comes back to town, and Liz remembers the summer she met him…and fell in love with him? Will she grow to love him again or forget she had ever met him?

Chapter 1
Liz Parker looked up from the lounge chair she was on, next to the pool. She swore she heard someone walk in the house.
“Must’ve been the wind,” she shrugged off, lying back down on her stomach.
It was the middle of July, and the hottest summer Roswell, New Mexico, had ever seen. Liz decided to take advantage of this and was currently sunbathing in her little red bikini.
The back door opened and shut again, confirming her suspicions; and Liz looked up, smiling as her boyfriend, Zan Evans, walked outside.
“When you asked to come over, I assumed it was to see me,” he teased, sitting beside her on the chair. All he had on were some swim trunks, and sunglasses. His muscular form was beaded in sweat, and to Liz, he looked like a god.
“Of course I did, I just ended up sunbathing by your pool,” Liz replied, flipping around to tan her front, and putting her sunglasses on.
“Did I tell you the news?” Zan asked, stroking her bare stomach.
“No, what news would this be?” Liz asked, peering to gaze at Zan’s beautiful amber eyes.
“Max’s coming to town in a week for the month of August, his coach is giving him a break, being the star player and all,” Zan added with a sneer. Liz sat up and placed her chin on his shoulder from behind him.
“Its ok babe…don’t let him get to you. Just because he plays football doesn’t mean he’s better than you, if you hadn’t majored in acting, we would’ve never met,” Liz said, placing a kiss on his shoulder. They were both currently majoring in acting; Liz was also minoring in biology.
“Thank you baby. At least I know I will always have something that he’ll never have…you,” Zan said, pulling her up with him. Zan had always been a tad bit jealous of Max. Max, his identical twin, had always been the “golden boy”. Star football player in high school, valedictorian, he was the most popular guy as well, and to top it off, he wasn’t even arrogant or cocky, like most guys in his position would be. Sure, they got along really well, it was just when their parents were around Zan couldn’t stand it…they didn’t even pay attention to Zan when Max was around.
Now, at 20, even though Zan was an aspiring actor, Max was UCLA’s star player, and it looked like there was a very good chance of him getting drafted. Zan, on the other hand, had disappointed his father when he went towards acting. His father had always expected him to be either an athlete or a lawyer. He did neither.
“Care to take a swim?” Zan asked, his arms around her waist and, unbeknownst to Liz, slowly guiding her towards the edge of the pool.
“Awww…as much as I would love to go swimming with you, I have to finish my sunbathing babe,” Liz replied a moment too late. Zan jumped in the pool, with her still in his arms.
“You bastard!” Liz playfully exclaimed when she surfaced with a laughing Zan.
“I try,” he said, pulling her against him and giving her a deep kiss while treading the water with his feet, “tomorrow are we still on for the movies and carnival?” Liz nodded and pulled herself away, getting slowly out of the pool, wiggling her butt a little for Zan before lying on her stomach on the lounge chair.
Tomorrow was Zan and hers 6 month anniversary, he was taking her to the movies, and then they were going to the crash carnival.
“Zan! Guess who arrived a week early!” Diane, his and Max’s mom, exclaimed. The next second the back door slid open and Diane walked through the door, Max at her side.
Liz’s head jerked up, gazing into amber eyes and a face identical to Zan’s.
Liz walked along the long beach in Los Angeles, California.
Freshman year of college had been tough, way tougher than high school ever was. Her parents had kindly paid for her to take a week long trip to get everything off her mind and enjoy at least part of her summer.
Well, she had been here for a day already and so far, it wasn’t all that exciting. It was hotter than it was in Roswell, but not as sticky and muggy.
She stuck her umbrella in the sand and laid her towel out, pulling her shorts and tank top off to reveal her new purple string bikini. She grabbed her sunglasses and stretched out on her stomach, the umbrella shielding her head from the sun and allowing her body to tan.
She laid there, not moving, just listening to the conversations floating around for a couple of minutes before she was disturbed.
“Excuse me miss, are you wearing any sun tan lotion? It isn’t good to sunbath without it, and I could kindly assist you in putting it on,” someone asked, disturbing her.
She flipped over and sat up, raising her sunglasses and taking a look at the stranger.
He was good looking, to say the least. Flat abs, tan skin, short brown hair, amber eyes that she could get lost permanently in, he was every girl’s dream and waaaay more than just good looking, he was hot!
“Do you use that line with every unsuspecting girl?” Liz retorted, not trusting him. Since her boyfriend, Kyle Valenti, had cheated on her last year, she had found it difficult to trust the male species.
“Only you sugar,” he said with a grin, “I’m Max, Max Evans.”
“Liz Parker; and you’re getting sand on my towel,” she said, nodding down to his feet. He chuckled and kneeled down, brushing it off the towel, “so what, are you like a lifeguard? I mean with the whole “it isn’t good to sunbath with out sun tan lotion.”
“No, I play football for UCLA; I’ll be a sophomore this fall, what about you? Playmate?” Max asked, laughing at her shocked expression.
“No!” she exclaimed, her face turning a shade of red, but laughing as well, “I go to Roswell University, majoring in acting and I’ll also be a sophomore this fall.”
“Aha! I knew it was something like that. Either a playmate, trust me sugar, you got the goods, a model, or an actress,” Max replied, smiling. It was so obvious that he was flirting with her. Liz blushed and pulled a strand of hair behind her ear.
“Wait…did you say Roswell?” Max asked a minute later, his brows furrowing.
“Yeah,” Liz responded lightly.
“I grew up there…me and my twin brother Zan…why don’t I know you?” he asked.
“I went to a private school, and didn’t really get out that much, I was a nerd,” Liz simply replied. Max nodded his head in understanding.
“You sure changed then…because you look nothing like a nerd to me,” he replied.
“Thanks,” Liz said back, offering a small smile.
“Will you go out with me?” he asked after a moment of silence.
“Um…I’m only here until Sunday,” Liz quickly replied, a steady blush once again creeping up her neck.
“Ok, will you go out with me?” Max asked again, waiting expectantly for an answer.
Liz contemplated this for a moment. He seemed to like her pretty much, and he was so totally hot…but could she trust him? She was going to say no, but looked up into his eyes, his soulful amber eyes and couldn’t possibly say no.
“Sure…why not? I’m at the Holiday Inn right up there, suite 310,” Liz said, pointing to a building facing the beach.
“Ok, I’ll pick you up at 5:30!” Max exclaimed, giving a heart melting smile before jogging off.
Liz smiled and laid back down on her back, at least today wouldn’t be boring.
Later that night Max had picked Liz up and they went to a local club, dancing the night away, and Liz fell love for the first time in her life. Not like the love she felt for Kyle….real love.
The next week would forever be branded in Liz’s mind. Max had fully devoted his time to loving her and making her happy. The day before she left they finally made love, and Liz finally woke up.
She left the next day, after a teary goodbye and promises of visits and frequent phone calls…none of which ever came…until now.

It had been 13 months since she last laid eyes on Max Evans, and now he was standing right in front of her, in all his beautiful glory. AFTER she had finally moved on.
It had taken a while for Liz to let go of Max, to realize that he wasn’t coming to her, and meeting Zan helped her a bit. After 3 months of trying to deny her growing attraction for Max’s twin brother, in the end, she gave in.
Zan had proved to love Liz just as much as Max did, but deep down in a corner of her heart, Liz knew that she still didn’t love Zan as much as she did Max. It was silly, but your first love stuck with you forever.
And now, here he was, her first love…the first and ONLY person she had ever given herself to, standing looking down at her.
