Part 6 **R for some language**
“So you are doing what tonight?” Alex asked over the phone in a shocked tone.
“I’m goin to da club Alex. I’ve told you about 500 times.” Liz said as she looked through her closet, throwing items on the bed that looked suitable for the club.
“You picked up an accent and you’re going to a club?! Never thought I’d see the day when you would even think about going to a club, let alone in New York.” Alex replied laughing.
“You think my accent sounds good? I’ve been working on it all day, throwin in some yous here and der.” Liz said, choosing to let the comments Alex made go unheard.
“Eh, for being there that long it’s really good.”
“You think so? I was thinking that I should add a little more attitude in my speech so that I sound cooler.” Liz said with a thoughtful look on her face as she held up a red shirt and black pants.
“Liz...I don’t care about your accent right now, I care about you. Do you know what you are doing? I mean a club with strangers in a new city, let alone one of the largest cities in the United States?” Alex asked concerned.
“Alex, I will be fine! I know this is a complete 180 from Roswell, but I trust these guys. They will help me out. And the only thing I’m worried about right now is what to wear.” Liz said.
“Well, I can’t help you from where I’m standing, but I’m sure you’ll look great as usual. I better go, have fun tonight and be safe! Call me tomorrow with da news.” Alex said.
Liz laughed, “Nice Alex, real nice.”
“Ya I know, thought I’d add some more atttitude to my accent to make it more New York for ya. I was thinking that it might make me sound cooler.” Alex started.
“Goodnight Alex, you can stop anytime.”
“I just don’t know though. Should I add more yous? Or do I sound straight up New York to you?” Alex said.
“Goodnight Alex. I love ya! Talk to you later dork!” Liz said hanging up, laughing and shaking her head at Alex’s antics. He always managed to make things a little bit better, now if she could just find something to wear.

Liz walked down the street and looked at the paper in her hands with Zan and Lonnie’s address. She reached the dark building and pulled her jacket fully closed around her neck.
She knocked on the door and looked down at her outfit. Her black pants were loose on her waist and flared atthe bottom, resting atop her clunky black sandals. She doned a red polo-like dress shirt over a red camisole. Her eyes were bright against her black mascara and pale skin.
Lonnie opened the door and took one long look at Liz bundled in her tan peacoat and pant pants. She smiled at Liz and stepped aside, letting Liz take her first look at the apartment.
“Yo Liz, Zan’s in da bathroom finishin up his ‘look’, afta her gets done we can book kay?” Lonnie said as she walked further back into the apartment. “Rath and Ava already left for da club, so we’ll just meet em der.”
“Wait Rath and Ava live here with you and Zan?” Liz asked confused as she took in her surroundings. Blankets were strewn over the couch, shoes dotted the floor and several pizza boxes were stacked in the corner.
“Yeah, wes all grew up togetha and decided ta get a place togetha once wes was old enough.” Lonnie said as she put her hoop earrings in and turned towards the hallway. “ZAN! Let’s go!”
“Do I umm look okay?” Liz said moving her jacket aside so Lonnie could see her outfit.
Lonnie tried not to wince as she took in her appearance and smiled. “Sure Liz, ya look hott.”
“Are you sure, because I could go home and change?” Liz said, still unsure of her outfit.
“Okay okay comere.” Lonnie said motioning to herself.
Liz walked slowly over and took off her jacket, throwing it casually on the floor next to her. Lonnie directed her movements as she stripped of the polo shirt and shoes. Lonnie took scissors to Liz’s camisole, after Liz’s hesitant permission, and cut a little up the sides and down the center, showing off a little more skin than Liz was used to. Lonnie retreated back into what Liz guessed was her bedroom, leaving Liz standing alone in the
middle of the room. She pulled the loose pants up more on her waist, wasting energy as they fell down lower again.
Lonnie returned with a long silver necklace, a black eye pencil, and a scrap of fabric that could have been either a tube top or a skirt. Lonnie tossed the black material over to Liz and walked over to a pile of shoes on the floor.
“What size are ya?” Lonnie asked, her body bent over the pile.
“Umm 8, I’m a size 8.” Liz answered, hoping she meant shoes.
“Put dat skirt on and I’ll look for ya a pair of kick ass shoes kay?” Lonnie said, looking up at Liz with a smile.
Liz looked into her hands at the “skirt” and down at her pants. She let her eyes wander down the hall, looking for a sign of Zan and when she was satisfied she slipped her pants off and pulled on the tight black skirt. She yanked and pulled hoping to make it bigger and longer, but stopped when nothing changed.
“Ah ha! Here Liz, sit down on da couch and put des on.” Lonnie said. handing her a pair of black leather boots.
Liz quickly obeyed and watched as Lonnie came towards her with the necklace and pencil. She hooked the silver chain around her neck so it fell loosely near her clevage. Lonnie carefully applied the black pencil around Liz’s eyes, making them stand out even more against her pale complextion.
“Kay Liz, stand up now and let me see yas.” Lonnie said, standing up and putting the makeup away.
Liz stood hesitantly on the heels, pulling down the skirt so that it covered more of her legs.
“Damn!”
Liz turned to the hallway and met the shocked face of Zan as he stood in his jeans, black shirt and silver jewerly. Lonnie smiled at her work and at her brother, whom she knew what standing there through most of the change.
“Dat’s right, my girl looks hott! Liz yous gonna kill em tonight!” Lonnie said handing Liz her jacket and putting her leather one on over her black tight outfit.
Liz laughed nevously as Lonnie talked, not breaking eye contact with Zan, who was still staring at her as well, the same thoughts running through both of their heads. Lonnie noticed the lack of movement from the two and pushed Liz forward, breaking the eye contact.
“Let’s go, jeez. I don’t wana miss dis tonight.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Liz walked slowly into the dark club, swiftly being bombarded with the sound of Usher as she watched the group of people dance and grind to the music.
I'm in the club with my homies, tryna get a lil V-I, keep it down on the low key, cause you know how it feels.
I said shorty she was checkin up on me, from the game she was spittin my ear you'd think
that she knew me.
So we decided to chill
Zan walked up behind a still Liz and placed his arm around her shoulders.
“Ya okay toots? Ya look a lil jumpy...it’s just a lil hip hop, notin ta get nervous bout.” He said over the music, Lonnie watching the scene from behind them.
“Yeah I know, it’s just my first time here, I’ve never seen anything like this.” Liz said as she looked up at him with a nervous smile. She remembered back when they had first walked up to Club Fight and saw the long lines that wound around the block. For the second time this week, Liz realized how far away from home she really was.
“Yous ready to go down der and dance wit me.” Zan said with a cocky smirk that made Liz laugh and nod.
Conversation got heavy, she had me feelin like she's ready to blow!
(Watch Out!, Watch Out!)
She saying come get me, come get me,
So I got up and followed her to the floor, she said baby lets go,
When I told her I said
Zan walked Liz down the steps and into the club, pausing to say hi to certain people as Lonnie walked behind them watching them with a careful eye and steady smile.
Liz felt warm and safe under Zan’s comforting and strong arm, blocking out everyone but him. She watched out of the corner of her eye as he said his hellos to people he knew and continued his way to the bar.
Yeah yeah Shorty got down to come and get me
Yeah yeah I got so caught up I forgot she told me
Yeah yeah Cause if my girl new it'd be best to hold me
Yeah yeah Next thing I knew she was all up on me screaming
“Ya wanna dance Liz or get somethin ta drink? Dat is if you drink?” Zan said in a jokin manner, lifting his eyebrow and smirking.
“I so do drink and that sounds good.” Liz said in defiance, but soon lost it when she looked at Zan’s face as he smiled at her.
They walked through the crowds to the bar and Zan ordered drinks as Liz watched with interest. Zan handed her a glass and watched with interest as Liz took her first cautious sip.
“Hey! This is only Coke! I thought you were getting me a drink?” Liz said as she looked at Zan.
“Didn’t think yous had it in ya ta drink da shit yous say yous drinks toots. Ratha be safe.” Zan said laughing. “Now hows bout yous shows me how yous gonna dance circles round me?”
Liz blushed and looked at him nervously. She had forgotten about that comment till now. She looked out at the dance floor at the people grinding to the music.
Shes all up in my head now, got me thinking that it might good idea to take her with me,
Cause she's ready to leave.
Now I gotta keep it real now, cause on a one-to-ten she's a certified twenty, and that just
aint me.
Cause I do know if I take that chance just where is it gonna lead,
But what I do know is the way she dance makes shorty alright with me.
The way she getting low!
I'm like yeah, just work that out for me.
She asked for one more dance and I'm
Like yeah, how the hell am I supposed to leave?
And I said
Zan took a step towards her and lowered his head to her ear. “Is help ya if ya have trouble kay toots. Is be right der wit ya. Nothin to it.”
Liz looked into his eyes and saw a light of hope sparkle in his amber eyes, causing her head to give a nervous nod.
Zan grabbed her hand and walked her slowly through the mass of teens and past Lonnie who was dancing with an angry Rath. She smiled sweetly at them and pulled on Rath when he started to walk in their direction.
Yeah yeah Shorty got down to come and get me
Yeah yeah I got so caught up I forgot she told me
Yeah yeah Cause if my girl new it'd be best to hold me
Yeah yeah Next thing I knew she was all up on me screaming
Zan stopped and faced Liz on the dance floor, grabbing her waist with one hand and pulling her closer to him. Liz gave a nervous sigh as she let herself move with the music, throwing in ballet whenever she could.
Her eyes closed as she concentrated on the beat, tripping now and then over her boots and Zan’s feet, which seemed to be going the opposite way. She opened her eyes when she felt Zan’s hand tighten on her waist and found herself entranced in his dark amber pools.
Watch out!
My outfit's ridiculous, In the club lookin' so conspicuous.
And Rowl! These women al on the prowl, if you hold the head steady I'm a milk the cow.
Forget about the game I'm a spit the truth, I won't stop till I get em in they birthday suits.
So gimmie the rhythm and it'll be off with they clothes, then bend over to the front and
touch your toes.
I left the jag and I took the roles, if they aint cutting then I put em on foot patrol.
How you like me now, when my pinky's valued over three hundred thousand,
Lets drank you the one to please, Ludacris fill cups like double d's.
Me and Ush once more and we leave em dead, we want a lady in the street but a freak in
the bed to say
Zan pulled her closer to him and moved seductively to Liz, who was used to dancing arms length away. “Yous doing great Liz. Yous looks hott out ere.”
Liz smiled at Zan and let him led her in her first dance at the club. She watched other couples as they danced and grinded to the sound of Ludacris over the system. She noticed the moves the girls were doing and tried to copy them, making Zan smile at her effort.
Liz noticed some commotion in the corner of the room, but never took her eyes away from Zan’s as their dance became more heated.
Take that and rewind it back, Lil' Jon got the beat make ya booty go clap
Take that and rewind it back, Usher got the voice make ya booty go clap
Take that and rewind it back, Ludacris got the flow make ya booty go clap
Take that and rewind it back, Lil' Jon got the beat make ya booty go clap
Zan looked over Liz’s shoulder, his eyes widening at the sight he saw, causing Liz to try to turn around. He looked back at Liz and gave her a pained expression, turning to leave her as he walked towards the back of the club.
Liz turned swiftly to follow him but stopped as he turned around quickly. “No toots, yous stay ere and stay safe.”
Liz lost sight of him in the crowd who were now breaking up as the fight or whatever it was got bigger. Liz looked around for Lonnie or Ava in the crowd as se walked hesitantly through the people and towards the fight. She saw lights flash on the ceiling above the corner as she moved closer.
Ava appeared out of breath in front of her, “Liz come on wes gotta get yous outa ere fore da police come!”
Ava grabbed Liz’s hand as Liz asked about Lonnie and Zan. Ava never replied, she just continued to run towards the exit. By the time they got outside the police sirens could be heard coming closer by the minute.
Liz and Ava looked around frantically for Lonnia, Rath and Zan. The sirens screamed closer as people ran out of the club and onto the cold New York streets.
Liz looked to the right and to the left, afraid that Zan or Lonnie were hurt or worse. She noticed three shadows walk slowly out of the alley behind the club and as soon as she saw the faces of the people she ran as fast as her boots would carry her, Ava close behind.
“Oh my God are you guys okay!? You scared the shit out of me!” Liz screamed as she got closer to Lonnie, Rath and Zan, who was currently smiling at her.
“Did Is just hears da little princess cuss?” Rath said with sarcasim, ignoring Lonnie’s smack to his stomach.
“Shut the fuck up Rath, no one fuckin asked yous.” Zan said in defiance as he walked closer to Liz, not noticing the look Rath sent him.
“Zan wes gotta get outa ere, da police are comin up fast from two blocks down. Prob be heres soon.” Ava said in a rush, her voice thick with concern for her family.
“Yeah, lets book it. Wes don’t needs any more trouble tonight.” Zan said as he put his arm confortably around Liz’s waist, leading her and everyone else away from the club, just in time to see the police arive.
