It was dark when I got back to Maria's house. They werent there and I did the universal entrance. I climbed in through the window and hid in her bedroom. I was scared, I didnt know what that Valenti wanted from me but when he came towards me he jsut reminded me of his son and what he tried to do in the Eraser Room.
I should call Michael but I was still figuring phones out. I at least had to try, I hadnt learnt about numbers yet but it couldnt have been that hard and Michael had given me a little piece of paper with important numbers to call if anything happened. His was right at the top.
I matched the numbers on the dialling pad to the ones on the paper and I picked up the reciever like Isabel had done so many times when talking to the Witchy girls.
"Hello?" it was Michael! Michael was in the phone!
"Mmeee" I said trying to think of what Michael was doing in the phone
"Where are you? Valenti turned up saying there was a fire and some lady was going crazy. She had a concusion and was saying that you started the fire"
"Maweeya I mmm aattt Maweeyas howse"
"I'll be right over. Dont be afriad it's going to be okay" he hung up and I half expected him to climb out the phone and be there in a second but he didnt. I put the phone down on the side and went cautiously out into the living room.
There was a knock at the door a few minutes later and I opened it hesitantly and there was a man in a large round heavy looking mask. I fell back he put his hands up and pulled the mask off. It was Michael.
I jumped up and hugged him
"Come on let's get you to the hospital. Valenti is calling for your arrest because he thinks you started the fire. You have to tell him that you didnt. Liz you have to tell him what happened"
"Scccaarrredddd!" I whispered
"I know but if you dont come with me then you'll get into even more trouble" he pulled me out and led me to his recently purchased bike. I climbed on behind him and he put one of those large masks on me. This was like the beast but it was smaller and quicker like a cat.
We arrived at the hospital and the Sheriff was waiting for me.
"Nice of you to bring her in. We can take her to a private room and discuss what happened at her aunts house" we were set in a toca coloured room and he sat opposite me.
"Right from what we have gathered we know that you were at the crime scene what were you doing there?" he began
"Antteee Sireeenna wwaasss ow anndddd thair wasss hotttt ssstuffff"
"Hot stuff you mean fire?" asked Valenti
"Ahmm maybeee" I wasnt sure. Michael took my hand and flashed me an image of fire and I nodded.
"What happened? Did you make the fire?"
"Mmhmm" I shook my head
"Was it already there when you got there?"
"Ahmm"
"Right. You said your aunt was Ow? What does that mean?"
"Um heertt" I told him
"Right. I guess you're all in the clear do you want to see your aunt now?" I looked at Michael and he shrugged and nodded. I nodded and he led me to her room.
She was sat on a bed with her feet dangling over the side.
"What is she doing here?"
"She's been cleared of the charges. She just saved you, she didnt try and kill you"
"I dont believe you!"
"I think you should talk it out instead of wasting my time" he turned and left us alone. Michael shut the door
"What the hell did you think of acussing Liz of something like that!"
"She's a freak! I know she tried to kill me!"
"Liz would never do that! Can't you believe me?"
"Look this isnt the first time I came in contact with a freak"
"Could you reframe from using the term freak?"
"Sorry well he was different. Claudia, my sister, was my twin and we looked very similar. Funny that really. I fell in love with an actor and I got pregnant. I had the baby and he left leaving me on my own, he didnt know that he had a daughter and I went out to get some groceries one day because we were running low. He must have come because when I got there Claudia and my daughter were gone. He must have mistaken her for me. He killed my sister and my baby. When I saw you for the first time I knew it was you. I couldnt believe it because Claudia had run off trying to protect you. I lost my sister because of you and I thought you were like him. Your real father who killed my little sister"
"She's not like him. We know who her father is and he's here in Roswell"
"What? Who is he?"
"Cal Langley. He's an alien too, he wasnt going to kill Liz. She isnt like him she's different and special. She's not the only alien in town"
"You mean there are more things like her out there?"
"Yes and I dont like being called thing or freak. I'm one and so is Isabel and Max Evans"
"Isabel Evans? That nice girl who works for the childrens home and runs the Santa Claus workshop down at the park? I dont believe you!"
"Here I can prove it" he touched Aunt Serena and she started crying when he moved back.
"I saw it. I saw Liz, she really isnt like him! She's my daughter goodness! She's really my daughter! I'm so sorry Liz I'm sorry" she sobbed and hugged me. So the precious lady was my aunty and my aunty was my momma? Man I swear they're all out to confuse me!

"So let me get this straight" she began "Cal Langley is an alien. You and Liz are all aliens?"
"Yep you guest it" said Michael
"That means Cal killed Claudia. I'm sorry for the way I treated you before Liz. I lost my sister to that monster and I couldnt bare it if you were like him too"
"Sss'okkay mmmommmmmaa" I got that much straight. I hugged her and settled myself next to her on the bed. There was a knock at the door and Sheriff Valenti walked in.
"I got the report off the fire chief. Your house was deliberately set alight but we couldnt find any fault which could have cause the fire or any petrol to indicate arson do you remember what you were doing?"
"I was having tea with my friend Delilah and then the next thing I knew I was outside and my house was blowing up"
"Can I have the full name of your friend?"
"Delilah Brahm here's her phone number" she handed a piece of paper from the bag that was on the floor. It was all she had left now.
"Thank you so much. Now do you have a place to stay or can I set you up in the hostel?"
"No no I'm sure Liz will let me stay with her" I nodded brightly and Michael almost died of a heartattack.
"Ahmm ssshore" I smiled and Valenti left. The doctor checked my mama out and told her she was fine and then she came home with us.
Maria was there with the others when we got back and she was pasty white with worry. She looked like someone had thrown flour at her.
"Oh Liz! Thank god you're okay!" she said and hugged me "You have to stop this wandering off habit you have!" Max was looking sternly at me and there was someone standing behind him. I couldnt quite see who it was but my instincts yelled at me. Arrgggghhh!
"I think we need to sit this out and talk" began Isabel as she sat down on a stool.
"Cal's here because he needs to talk to you"
"WHAT!" screamed mama angrily. She looked at the man hiding behind Max and went livid.
"I found him snooping round Michael's apartment. I thought Liz had come back here after she disappeared from Maria's and I found him. I wanted to know what he was doing here and he told me" all eyes fell on Cal.
"Sit down right there and you tell me!" hissed Mama angrily Cal looked to Max and he nodded. Cal sat down and shapeshifted into his real form
"I am Liz's father and I came here in the eighties after I found out that the queen Zan was destined to be with didnt survive the crash. I had to make sure the unit was complete so I met a girl her name was Nancy"
"I'm Serena. I have a twin called Claudia that's who you killed" she spat roughly
"Right" he mumbled "Anyway she fell for me and my shifted looks and I got her pregnant"
"On the night we spent together he was wild and it was fun. He was gone when I woke up and there was a silver handprint on my tummy"
"On the pods there is a designated seal and each of you have them. I carried Ava's seal until it was time to pass it onto Liz. I did it when she was just being formed. I left for a year and returned and found Nancy with the baby. I broke into the house and she ran off, I showed a bit of compassion when I caught her and I let her have a chance to run off. I would have found Liz when she was older because I have contacts everywhere. I found her in the middle of the desert and she was alone when I cornered her. She didnt tell me were the baby was so I turned her to dust. I didnt want Liz to be attached to any humans I wanted her to find home in only her unit and when she found her aunty I had to get her out of the picture. I started the fire"
"You monster! What were you planning to do with Liz after you'd gotten rid of me?"
"I was going to take her that's why I was here. I didnt think she would really care for that mortal coil that can easily be erased" his eyes were cold and I knew that he'd said something nasty because everyone was tense and mama looked like she was going to kill him just for being in the room.
"I was planning on training her up then bringing her back to Roswell get her to do the deed with the Man over there and then take the heir back home to Antar"
"You'd take our child without my permission!" roared Max "I wouldnt let you"
"Yeah but you did Max. You gave me direct orders when you were a king to bring your first born back to Antar so the war would be over"
"I dont want you to take any kid of mine! I'd kill you before I let that happen!"
"So this means that Serena is actually Liz's mom and that Claudia was her aunt? Is Liz pregnant? Who has the power to stop Cal?" asked Maria
"Mmeee" I said standing up. It was like it was written in my mind like things had been leading to this and I was ready. It was who I was.
"Very Good" he clapped sarcastically
"Would you knock it off! Why dont you throw yourself out the window if you're going to be like that!" snapped Max and Cal stood up and opened the window then ran and jumped out of it.
"Wow" said Maria "Never thought he'd really do it! I guess you are the king Max"
"Well I try and besides I thought it would be a nice exit for him considering the mood he's left us in"
"Amen!" agreed Mama "I think I like you. I hope you treat Liz well"
"Cal said she was a year old when he came back. So did she have a different name?"
"Yeah she was called Teresa. We called her Tess"
"Tess" quipped Isabel "I dont think it suits her and it certainly doesnt stick!"
"Ahmm" I said. They didnt know exactly how much I understood and it was fun to surprise them. I knew that Isabel thought I was dumb but I wasnt really. I was learning things every day and it was only my stuttering problem that held me back. At first I thought it was pronouncing words but after I got the hang of them it was still hard.
"So where the spare room?" asked Mama warmly as she stood up.
"You're staying here?" gasped Isabel
"I'm staying with my daughter since she lives here and because my house was burnt down this afternoon by Delilah out there" she glanced mootly at the window.
"Um its that door there" Michael pointed to a door near the bathroom
"Thanks. Where does Liz sleep?"
"With me" said Michael
"WHAT!" snapped Mama and Max at the same time.
"Just kidding! I sleep on the couch and she gets the bed and we swap round on Maria nights" we all looked at Maria and she blushed bright red
"Well I never thought he'd find someone but I'm glad it's you" said Isabel then she left.
"I better get going too she's going to need a lift home" said Max and he came up and gave me a quick kiss. Yummy boy, lucky me!
"Biye Maxxxsss" I called and then headed to bed. What a day if my simple days were living in a cave then give them back to me!

Part 13

"Arrggghhhh!" I jumped up and grabbed my clock and threw it out the window becasue that's what Michael did but the screaming carried on. What on earth was happening? I pulled on my dressing gown because they wouldnt like it if I went out naked. I fastened it and padded out and saw Michael running away from mama. She was holding a wet wash cloth in her hands and she was smirking
"YOUR MOTHER IS CRAZY!" he cried
"What? I was only waking you up!" she moved and tossed the cloth into the sink and then got out some bowls and some cereal.
"Now what do you want for breakfast?"
"Sleep thank you very much. I have school in a hour it takes me five minutes to get ready and I had a grave yard shift at the cafe last night work is murder" he settled himself back on the couch and tried to go back to sleep. Mama picked up the cloth and threw it was his head. He yelped and fell off the couch.
"Thats it I'm going to Max's!" he walked out in his shorts and then he came back in "Better get dressed first" he grumbled disappearing into the bedroom. I laughed and I sat down at the counter and pointed to the Lucky Charms and mama passed them over.
"Eat your breakfast sweety I'm going to drive you to school and talk with your principal"
"Yuuuoo nnnotttt mmmovvvvinggg mmee waaay?"
"No I'm not I want to talk to him and maybe see if I can see what you have for your classes. Your my daughter and I've missed so much of your life and I want to be apart of it" Michael waved curtly as he walked past us and left with a big door slam
"His too. Boy needs some loving that only a mom can provide"
"Yuuooo llikkkee Michull too?"
"Yep. I feel sorry about him living here on his own like a hermit and that foster father he had. Once my house is built up again he can come and live with us if he wants"
"I ddonnntt wwaanntt to leaave Michull"
"I know that's why he's coming to stay with us. Dont worry it'll be a while before anything gets done"
"Hmm geettt itt dun" I mumbled and went to get dressed. I had conquered buttons and I could put my bra on now. I cringed when I thought back to when I thought bras were hats. I still reckon they would make good ones though and you could stand really close to someone and put the other cup over their head...
I got dressed and put my socks and shoes on and wobbled out so mama could tie my laces. I had worn out my slip ons with climbing trees and Isabel had told me that sensible normal girls didnt do that. I laughed in her face and told her I was Desert Baby and I could do what I wanted.
I was going to learn about money today. I was getting special classes off different teachers and today's math lesson was money. I only had one a day because it was hard trying to play catch up.
"You almost ready? Have you brushed your teeth?"
"Ahmm mamaaa" I nodded and I grabbed the keys and we left the house. I slid into the passenger seat of mama's car and shuddered damn it was cold. I looked round and finally stared out the window. She drove me to school and I headed for the empty class room where I had my special lessons. Sometimes one of the others turned up to help me.
Maria was my best friend and Michael was like my big brother and Max was my boyfriend. I still couldnt get over that he and I were together and we were meant to be! Yay my life!
I sat down and Mr Seligman came in and smiled at me
"Good Morning Elizabeth how are you today?" he asked setting his stuff down at the desk
"Gooodddd tthhaankkk yuuuooo missssta Sellliggman" I smiled and I clasped my hands
"Whose this?" he asked nodding at mama
"I'm Liz's mother" he raised an eyebrow and frowned slightly at mama but other wise said nothing.
"My sister ran off with her when she was baby and I thought they were both dead" she snapped feeling rather annoyed at his response.
"I'm sorry I didnt mean anything by it. Shall we?" he asked pulled out his wallet. He took out several coins and put them down on the table then he took out notes (A/N: I'm not familiar with American money. I know Dollars and Cents and Dimes but I dont know exactly what order they go in
)
"Right let's begin. This is a dollar note..." I stayed there till I had learnt about money and I could use it successfully. I nodded goodbye and after the class we went to the principals office to talk about my school life. Mom went in and I sat outside with my coat. I got bored and stood up and began to wander. I know Maria said I had to kick this habit but sitting in a boring plastic chair with nothing to do wasnt my idea of fun.
I wandered through the hall and the bell rang. It still startled me like alarm clocks did but I had gotten used to it and I learnt not to throw things at it like pens and pencils or the teachers cup. The hall filled up quickly and I became lost in the sea of students. I felt someone grab my arm and I turned round and saw Maria
"Hey Chica how did math go?"
"Gooddd" I smiled and we linked arms and walked down the corridor together. I saw Kyle Valenti walking in the opposite direction and I glared at him and thought of some payback. We turned round and I flicked my wrist without moving it from my side and the air above Kyle mysteriously transformed into water. We turned and carried on walking revenge complete!
"It's fun having you around Chica. Maybe you could fix up my hair once in a while? We have to go out dancing tonight" she said as we sat down at a table. She had a free period and I pulled out a Twinkie from my pocket and began eating it. I had several hidden pockets in my coat that I had added for things like stones and weird things that looked pretty oh and chocolate and a little bottle of Tabasco but I kept forgetting which pocket it was in.
"Dannccingg ssshudd beee goooddd" I said and she nodded. A sleepy Michael dropped down next to her and fell asleep on the table. She looked round and picked up a stick and began to poke him casually. She moved back every time he tried to swat the stick away. She poked him a couple times in the back then twice the the head before she tossed it away and grabbed her extra bottle of water and opened the lid and poured it over his head
"Yay! What? I'm up!" he almost fell off his seat and I laughed cruelly
"You're sleeping on me?" she cried getting strange looks from other students milling around.
"Tired Maria dont shout" he mumbled and put his wet head back on the table to get comfy again.
"Wake up SpaceBoy! You're not getting off that lightly we need to talk!"
"Isnt there some rule about "talks" one okay, two bad, five never?"
"Funny" she quipped and went serious. No one liked it when Maria was serious because it meant she wasnt happy.
"When are you going to comit to this relantionship we're in? You have Maria nights and I feel like a rug or something. Why can't you just say you're being intimate with your girlfriend?"
"Because you're not my girlfriend" he grumbled and ran off before she could say anything else. Maria turned and looked at me with tears in her eyes. I did the only thing I could was reach in and pull out a large candy bar and hand it to her with some tissues I had in case I got dirty
"Thanks" she unwrapped it and began to eat it sobbing.
"Hey Maria oh sweetie what's up?" asked Mama
"I think Michael just broke up with me!" she wailed. I tried to calm her down as best I could but it was no good. I was going to get Michael back here and make him apologise for treating Maria like that. I found Michael and he was staring at a little gold ring with a shiny squarish thing on top and it was in a little satin lilac box.
"Michull!" I snapped and he nodded
"Tell her to come round to my place tonight so we can talk okay? I'll see you later Liz" he kissed my cheek and wandered off inside. I headed back to the table and sat down next to Maria.
"Michul ssaaaiidd thattt yuuuooo haafff tooo go tooo hiiss howse tooo talk tooonighhtt"
"Oh is he finally going to take charge of his actions? I'm sorry I can't go dancing with you Liz. Maybe Max can take you and maybe he'll move past the simple kiss. Isabel was right when she said there wasnt an evil bone in his body Michael on the other hand... I'll see you later" she wiped off her tears and took her candy with her and headed to her next class.

"No I'm not I want to talk to him and maybe see if I can see what you have for your classes. Your my daughter and I've missed so much of your life and I want to be apart of it" Michael waved curtly as he walked past us and left with a big door slam
"His too. Boy needs some loving that only a mom can provide"
"Yuuooo llikkkee Michull too?"
"Yep. I feel sorry about him living here on his own like a hermit and that foster father he had. Once my house is built up again he can come and live with us if he wants"
"I ddonnntt wwaanntt to leaave Michull"
"I know that's why he's coming to stay with us. Dont worry it'll be a while before anything gets done"
"Hmm geettt itt dun" I mumbled and went to get dressed. I had conquered buttons and I could put my bra on now. I cringed when I thought back to when I thought bras were hats. I still reckon they would make good ones though and you could stand really close to someone and put the other cup over their head...
I got dressed and put my socks and shoes on and wobbled out so mama could tie my laces. I had worn out my slip ons with climbing trees and Isabel had told me that sensible normal girls didnt do that. I laughed in her face and told her I was Desert Baby and I could do what I wanted.
I was going to learn about money today. I was getting special classes off different teachers and today's math lesson was money. I only had one a day because it was hard trying to play catch up.
"You almost ready? Have you brushed your teeth?"
"Ahmm mamaaa" I nodded and I grabbed the keys and we left the house. I slid into the passenger seat of mama's car and shuddered damn it was cold. I looked round and finally stared out the window. She drove me to school and I headed for the empty class room where I had my special lessons. Sometimes one of the others turned up to help me.
Maria was my best friend and Michael was like my big brother and Max was my boyfriend. I still couldnt get over that he and I were together and we were meant to be! Yay my life!
I sat down and Mr Seligman came in and smiled at me
"Good Morning Elizabeth how are you today?" he asked setting his stuff down at the desk
"Gooodddd tthhaankkk yuuuooo missssta Sellliggman" I smiled and I clasped my hands
"Whose this?" he asked nodding at mama
"I'm Liz's mother" he raised an eyebrow and frowned slightly at mama but other wise said nothing.
"My sister ran off with her when she was baby and I thought they were both dead" she snapped feeling rather annoyed at his response.
"I'm sorry I didnt mean anything by it. Shall we?" he asked pulled out his wallet. He took out several coins and put them down on the table then he took out notes (A/N: I'm not familiar with American money. I know Dollars and Cents and Dimes but I dont know exactly what order they go in
)"Right let's begin. This is a dollar note..." I stayed there till I had learnt about money and I could use it successfully. I nodded goodbye and after the class we went to the principals office to talk about my school life. Mom went in and I sat outside with my coat. I got bored and stood up and began to wander. I know Maria said I had to kick this habit but sitting in a boring plastic chair with nothing to do wasnt my idea of fun.
I wandered through the hall and the bell rang. It still startled me like alarm clocks did but I had gotten used to it and I learnt not to throw things at it like pens and pencils or the teachers cup. The hall filled up quickly and I became lost in the sea of students. I felt someone grab my arm and I turned round and saw Maria
"Hey Chica how did math go?"
"Gooddd" I smiled and we linked arms and walked down the corridor together. I saw Kyle Valenti walking in the opposite direction and I glared at him and thought of some payback. We turned round and I flicked my wrist without moving it from my side and the air above Kyle mysteriously transformed into water. We turned and carried on walking revenge complete!
"It's fun having you around Chica. Maybe you could fix up my hair once in a while? We have to go out dancing tonight" she said as we sat down at a table. She had a free period and I pulled out a Twinkie from my pocket and began eating it. I had several hidden pockets in my coat that I had added for things like stones and weird things that looked pretty oh and chocolate and a little bottle of Tabasco but I kept forgetting which pocket it was in.
"Dannccingg ssshudd beee goooddd" I said and she nodded. A sleepy Michael dropped down next to her and fell asleep on the table. She looked round and picked up a stick and began to poke him casually. She moved back every time he tried to swat the stick away. She poked him a couple times in the back then twice the the head before she tossed it away and grabbed her extra bottle of water and opened the lid and poured it over his head
"Yay! What? I'm up!" he almost fell off his seat and I laughed cruelly
"You're sleeping on me?" she cried getting strange looks from other students milling around.
"Tired Maria dont shout" he mumbled and put his wet head back on the table to get comfy again.
"Wake up SpaceBoy! You're not getting off that lightly we need to talk!"
"Isnt there some rule about "talks" one okay, two bad, five never?"
"Funny" she quipped and went serious. No one liked it when Maria was serious because it meant she wasnt happy.
"When are you going to comit to this relantionship we're in? You have Maria nights and I feel like a rug or something. Why can't you just say you're being intimate with your girlfriend?"
"Because you're not my girlfriend" he grumbled and ran off before she could say anything else. Maria turned and looked at me with tears in her eyes. I did the only thing I could was reach in and pull out a large candy bar and hand it to her with some tissues I had in case I got dirty
"Thanks" she unwrapped it and began to eat it sobbing.
"Hey Maria oh sweetie what's up?" asked Mama
"I think Michael just broke up with me!" she wailed. I tried to calm her down as best I could but it was no good. I was going to get Michael back here and make him apologise for treating Maria like that. I found Michael and he was staring at a little gold ring with a shiny squarish thing on top and it was in a little satin lilac box.
"Michull!" I snapped and he nodded
"Tell her to come round to my place tonight so we can talk okay? I'll see you later Liz" he kissed my cheek and wandered off inside. I headed back to the table and sat down next to Maria.
"Michul ssaaaiidd thattt yuuuooo haafff tooo go tooo hiiss howse tooo talk tooonighhtt"
"Oh is he finally going to take charge of his actions? I'm sorry I can't go dancing with you Liz. Maybe Max can take you and maybe he'll move past the simple kiss. Isabel was right when she said there wasnt an evil bone in his body Michael on the other hand... I'll see you later" she wiped off her tears and took her candy with her and headed to her next class.

"They've been out there for a full two hours! You think they're doing it?" asked Max and I shrugged. Me, Max, Mama and Isabel were all squashed into the spare room while Michael tried to sort out his relantionship with Maria.

"What did it look like?" I was sick of speaking because I was so bad at it I decided to show him instead. I put my hand on his arm and sent him a flash of what it was like.
"It's a ring. A wedding ring"
"You dont think...?" Isabel trailed off and all four of us tried to get out the door in an instant. I won and I got out the door and I saw Michael sat on the couch alone.
"Michull?"
"She's gone"
"What?"
"She left. She said she was getting bored with having someone like me as a boyfriend. She said she wanted to continue her music career and she left for New York about an hour ago"
"Why didn't you stop her!" demanded Max but Michael didnt need to be shouted at right now.
"I tried Max. I got down on my knees and asked her to marry me and she said no and left. I had an entire evening prepared and she was going to leave me anyway" he broke down in tears and I shooed everyone out before I started crying too.
I sat down next to him and pulled him into a hug and he wrapped his arms around me and cried his eyes out.
"I loved her I loved her Liz and she left! She was the only girl I ever wanted and I was so stupid in letting her go"
"Shhhh" I soothed but it was no good. It would be better to let him cry it out.
"Why did she leave me Liz? Am I really that bad?"
"No" I shook my head "Yooorrrr nnotttt!"
"I must have been. It hurts so much I want it to stop hurting" he began sobbing again and I managed to get him to stand up and into the bedroom. I pulled off his stinky socks and made sure he was in jammies then I got him into bed. There were loads of sweet smelling candles around the room and I waved and the flames went out. I turned to walk out and make sure he slept some but he sat up
"Liz dont you leave too" he whispered. I came back and laid on the bed. He put the blanket over me and snuggled up. I heard him sob then hiccup then a few minutes later he was asleep. Poor Michael.
I woke up the next morning and I was laying with my face on one side and my knees were tucked under my stomach. Michael had his arm over my back and he had drool down his chin. I kicked him and he jerked awake
"Maria what? I'm up" he looked round and she wasnt here. He remembered last night and his eyes glazed over sadly "Oh yeah she's not here is she"
"Yuuoo gggowwingggg tooo sckewwl?"
"No I have nothing to live for now. I wanted to pass my grades so I could get a decent job and make her happy but she's gone so theres no point"
"What about Liz Michael?" asked mama who stood in the door way "She needs you and she's not going anywhere she's right here"
"But she has you"
"And you have her. I know you love her like a sister Michael, because I love you as my son. We wont leave you we'll be here when ever you need us"
"Ahmm" I nodded at her words and he smiled and cuddled back up under the warmth of the blanket. I stroked his hair back and he fell asleep again. I didnt have a lesson until the afternoon so I could stay and get some sleep too. I had been awake half the night trying to make sure he was okay. I was wiped out.
Max woke me up and he looked angry that I was in bed with Michael all cuddled up and warm
"Look we need to talk" I followed him into the living room and we sat down on the couch "I know you love Michael but I'm beginning to think that you're more than just friends"
"Weee arrr" I told him "Weee'rrrr bruthair anndddd sisssta"
"Right look I just dont want a repeat of Michael and Maria only with us. I want to be able to trust you without thinking you're sleeping with my bst friend"
"Maxsss?" I began
"Yeah?" he replied and I took his hand pinched it with my nails as a punishment for being silly then kissed it.
"I love you" I had been practising it since I knew what it meant and those three words were the first ones I had said clearly without my stutter.
"I love you too Liz" he beamed and I kissed him.

Right. Sight down and make yourself comfortable. My name is Liz Parker and a few minutes ago my best friend-almost brother had his world shattered in half. Again.
It was almost a week since Maria Deluca up and left. He had a whole special night done for her. Down to Italian and sweet smelling candles in the bedroom. He was even going to ask her to marry her because he never wanted to be with anyone else. This was it for him. Apparently not for Maria though. She left him right there and then and she headed to New York. He's been slowing getting over it and he had finally gotten out of bed when she was on the telly. She'd landed some music record deal and was being interviewed on MTV.
Maria Deluca was a fast rising superstar and she was rubbing it back in Michael's face. I couldnt see him like this and when he turned to go back to bed I blew up the telly and shouted. I could actually shout without stuttering so that was a big triumph for me.
"MICHULL GUERIN YOU GET YOUR COAT WE ARE GOING OUT!" I shouted and he just looked at me wide eyed. I grabbed his coat slung it at him and shoved him out the door.
"Where are you taking me Liz? I just want to go back to bed"
"No!" I snapped "Yuuoo looozing waaitttt ssstaayyyying innn beddd"
"I dont feel in the mood to go anywhere!"
"Shuttt uppp!" I snapped and I pulled him along till we reached UFOnics. I had been taken here once or twice by Isabel when she felt up for it. She usually ditched me half way through the night.
I wish I had just left him in bed. He tried dancing with a couple of girls but then he got tired when Maria's favourite song came on and he started crying. I held him as we sat at our seats and he bawled his eyes out.
"Is he okay?" I looked up and saw a girl with red hair and green eyes staring at us. She smiled at me and I shoved Michael back so he could see her.
"Hi" she smiled and he sobbed and wiped his tears away "Are you okay?"
"No. My girlfriend left me"
"Oh that's bad. Is there anything I can do?"
"No" he sniffed
"What was your girlfriends name?"
"Maria Deluca"
"The girl ditched you for a music career? Who hit her on the head?"
"Isabel but that's a different story. I'm Michael" he shook her hand and she sat down next to him
"I'm Linna" she said and they stared deeply at each other. I got up and left them too it.
I was cruising by the dance floor when I spotted him. OH MY GOD. His hair was all shiny and beatuiful and he had his shirt open and he was dancing in the crowd. Several girls were stroking his chest and I just went furious. He's my man!
I marched straight onto the dance floor and plasted myself next to him.
"Hey Stranger" he smirked
"Maxxsss" I replied and I kissed him. Long hard and sweet. The other girls were getting jealous and someone shoved me but I ended up closer to Max. He was so hard and he wanted me.
"I think we should go back to Michael's"
"Whattt bowwttt Michulll?" we looked over in his direction he was kissing that Linna girl with such passion.
"I'd say he's fine let's go!" I spotted Cal Langley out the corner of my eye and I freaked out. I tried to tell Max but he picked me up kissed me and bunged me into the back to the jeep. I could feel my wild side coming out and I wanted to play. I couldnt shake the feeling that Cal was lurking around.
"Ssstoppp!" I whispered and Max froze
"What's wrong?"
"Caallll'sss heair"
"Where?"
"He's come to take my baby" I screamed. He was going to take my baby just like he had promised!

Last night was the most beautifullest night of my life. He'd planned the whole thing! I saw it from the flashes I got off him. The second I dragged Michael out the door he was up and lighting loads of candles in the bedroom. There were white rose petals all over the bed when we got back. I forgot about everything except us.
I rolled over and I saw Max fast asleep with such happiness over his features then something moved and caught my eye. Cal was standing in the shadows staring at me.
"GET OUT!" I screeched and Max jumped up awake and looked round. I pulled the blanket over me and felt really small.
"Get out now! What the hell do you think you're doing in our bedroom!" Cal walked out and Max just got out of bed and followed him. He was still naked.
"Morning Max" I heard mama say with a laugh.
"Get the hell out of here and stay away from Liz!" I started crying, I was scared and I knew that the flitting butterflies in my stomach werent something I had felt before. I wanted to crawl in a hole and hide from all of them. Max came in and cuddled me up
"Are you okay?"
"Yesss Maxxsss?"
"Yeah love?"
"Preggnnunnntt" I whispered and sniffed. Cal was going to try and take our baby away. I would never let him do that
"Dont worry he wont take our baby. I promise you Liz I'll protect you and our baby" he leaned down and kissed my stomach. Cal wasnt going to stop trying. I waited till Max fell back asleep and I got up and got dressed.
"Morning Liz sweetie are you okay?"
"Ahmm"
"You spent the night with Max didnt you?"
"Ahmm" I nodded
"I can't say that I approve but I've never seen you happier. There's something else as well isnt there?"
"Pregggnnunnntttt. Caalllll gowwwing tooo takkke ower babbbeee"
"Oh Liz. Max'll make him leave. Like he did before he wont let anything happen to you and neither will I"
"Love you mama" that was about the only thing I could say clearly without screaming my head off.
"I know I love you too sweetie. Are you off to school?"
"Ahmm Nglisshh toooodaayyyy" I smiled trying to not feel rotten inside. I needed to practice my powers and I didnt know where Michael was and Max was asleep so I made a quick journey to the Evans and found Isabel Diane let me in with a smile and I asked if Isabel was in.
"Yeah sure. Um Liz?"
"Ahmm?"
"Do you know where Max is? He didnt come home last night"
"He'sss atttt Michullls" I told her and she nodded
"Where's Michael?"
"Dunnnooow. Hee nevvair cammmmeee hommmmeee lassstttt nighhhttt"
"Oh" she nodded then called for Isabel.
"Liz what do I owe this pleasure?" I waited for Diane to leave the room and I told her.
"I'mmmm pregggnnnunnntttt Izzaabelll" I informed her and her eyes went wide "Callll gowinggg ttttoooo takkke myy babbbeee"
"Max would never let him"
"Yeaaahhh buttt I needdd myyy powwwwairs strongggair"
"You want me to help you with that?"

"Okay. I'll pick you up after your lesson and we can go out to the lake and get in some practice okay?"

"I can't believe you and Max finally did the deed!" she patted my tummy. Diane walked in at that moment and gasped. Oh boy!

"Preggnnunnntt" I whispered and sniffed. Cal was going to try and take our baby away. I would never let him do that
"Dont worry he wont take our baby. I promise you Liz I'll protect you and our baby" he leaned down and kissed my stomach. Cal wasnt going to stop trying. I waited till Max fell back asleep and I got up and got dressed.
"Morning Liz sweetie are you okay?"
"Ahmm"
"You spent the night with Max didnt you?"
"Ahmm" I nodded
"I can't say that I approve but I've never seen you happier. There's something else as well isnt there?"
"Pregggnnunnntttt. Caalllll gowwwing tooo takkke ower babbbeee"
"Oh Liz. Max'll make him leave. Like he did before he wont let anything happen to you and neither will I"
"Love you mama" that was about the only thing I could say clearly without screaming my head off.

"Ahmm Nglisshh toooodaayyyy" I smiled trying to not feel rotten inside. I needed to practice my powers and I didnt know where Michael was and Max was asleep so I made a quick journey to the Evans and found Isabel Diane let me in with a smile and I asked if Isabel was in.

"Do you know where Max is? He didnt come home last night"
"He'sss atttt Michullls" I told her and she nodded
"Where's Michael?"

"Oh" she nodded then called for Isabel.
"Liz what do I owe this pleasure?" I waited for Diane to leave the room and I told her.

"You and Max are having a baby?" asked Diane. I can remember it so clearly. She stood there crying and I tried to comfort her.
"Ahmm. I love Max" I told her and she sobbed even more. Damn when did my life become so complicated? These simple surely arent like their title and sorry for calling you folks Shirley.
That was four months ago when we spent the night together, Michael popped the question to Linna after he found out that she already knew his secret. She was product of that monster in a one night stand affair. So we were sorta like half sisters and she was making Michael very happy indeed.
I was lying here staring down at my large and rather round tummy and I felt the urge to eat. It was two o'clock in the morning and I was starving. I slid out of bed and padded to the kitchen. I only had a slight stutter when I was nervous now and I had gotten used to the ways of life that people lived here in Roswell. I closed the refrigerator door and stopped when I saw my reflection. My mouth parted and tears started streaming down my face. I was one of them now, I wasnt Desert Baby anymore. I had sold out.
I remembered the first time I saw my reflection and I was covered in chocolate and naked under my summer dress! How could I become like them? I wasnt Desert Baby anymore and I had turned away from the thing I had known all my life. I was supposed to be alone that's why I was out there. There's only aloneness and the hunt. I know what I have to do. I grabbed up my coat and went off to hunt for food like I used to. Pregnant or not I was going to ctach my dinner tonight!
I left quickly and quietly and headed out. I stuck to the shadows and kept low. It was harder now that I was pregnant but I could still do it. I spotted my first target. Mrs Makimley's Cat, that cat had tried to scratch mama until I moved it with a good blast. It's fur had finally grown back.
I waited silently staring at it making sure it didnt see me. I held my breath waiting...
"Hey Liz" I jumped up and put my hand round my tummy
"What are you doing here?" I stepped back and the cat ran off. Some much for the hunt
"Oh I thought I'd come back and see how all of you are doing. In fact to be honest I never really left" I watched as Cal stepped towards me and shifted into Linna. Oh my god now that's sick! Linna was Cal all along!
"Yeah I know what you're thinking Liz. It's rather sick to pose as a girl and marry GI Joe back there but I had to do what ever was nessecary to make sure you got pregnant. Looks like it worked!" he pointed down at my tummy and smirked.
"Get away from me!"
"Sorry can't I have orders now I'm going to take what's mine"
"NO!" I felt so much rage and anger inside me. It flashed through my head so quick I didnt have time to process it. Every little thing that had made me mad but I had been unable to let out filled me and I put up my hand and let all the energy loose.
I saw him just disappeared. There was nothing left he was just gone with the flash of bright light. He was gone! I had just killed my dad. I started shaking.
"Miss Parker?" I looked up and saw Sheriff Valenti standing there "How on earth did you just do that? You killed him" he had seen what I had done.

I stood there shaking I was terrified. I was still in danger maybe a greater danger than Cal? I whimpered and stepped back away from him.
"Dont be afraid. I know what you are come with me"
"No" I shook my head and moved back some more. I didnt know what to do. I just stood there with him coming even closer to me. I held my breath just waiting for what he was going to do.
"LIZ!" I jumped and turned to the voice. It was someone I never wanted to see again.
"Maria"
"Miss Deluca" began Valenti "What are you doing?"
"I'm taking my best friend and I'm going to see my boyfriend"
"Arent you some pop super star now?"
"Yeah that's why I'm here. No one will find me, only my agent knows where I am"
"Oh right" Maria grabbed my arm and pulled me away. I turned my head and looked at Valenti. He smiled and winked at me then left.
We arrived and Michael was pacing about madly, Max wasx out searching for me and mama was on the phone. Maria came in and dumped her stuff on the floor near the door.
"What the hell are you doing back here?" hissed Michael
"I came back to see you. You and my mom"
"Listen Maria I found someone else"
"Michull about that. Linna was Cal"
"What?"
"Cal's dead now" I informed him
"Are you okay?"
"I'll be fine it's just... ow"
"Ow?" I looked down then up at him
"OW!"
"Oh! Oh my god!" he cried "Now?"

"Shouldnt we take her to a hospital or something?" we all gave her that look and she shook her head
"Sorry sorry I forget. How am I supposed to remember you're all aliens! You look too human!" she pouted and took an arm and helped me into the bedroom. They left me there while they got the sheets and water. I sobbed, scared about doing this. I felt the urge to push so I did. They were busy trying to find clean towels. I could hear them rushing about and shouting. I grabbed the sheet and pushed again. It didnt hurt as much as I thought it would. I pushed once more and I could hear the baby crying. I wrapped her up in the sheet and the three of them came barging in
"We got the towels now... oh" they stopped when they saw the baby in my arms.
"She's a girl!" I sobbed. I had a girl a baby girl! I heard the door open and Max rush in. I could feel the worry pouring off him and when he saw me and our baby it just went and he was so proud.
I'd never seen a happier man. He came over and sat down next to me
"Well done love. I love you"
"What are you going to call her?"
"Claudia, Claudia Elizabeth Parker" I smiled and Max put his arms around me. Maria just smiled
"Is there anything else I need to know?" she asked. Then looked at Michael
"You're not pregnat are you?"
"No"
"Good now come here!" she wrapped her arms around a surprised Michael and kissed him senseless.
"Congratulations Uncle Michael" she huddled next to him.
"Is this it now?" whispered mama "Are you happy?"
"More than when I was living in the desert. I'm not alone anymore..."

She stood there spear in hand. Watching the snake sither across the sand. We sat near the rock hand in hand watching her hunt. She ws doing really well so far. She held her breath for a moment then threw the spear at the snake. It went in right between the heads on the top of the head.
All of us stood up and began clapping.
"Yay!" we cheered "Hooray!" it was Claudia's sixth birthday and we'd survived six years. I was now teaching children with language disabilities can you believe it? Me a teacher! Maria came back and Michael lost it yeah with her in bed. Apparently Linna avoided the big IT as much as possible when Michael was around. No wonder seeing as how Linna was Cal. Maria moved into Michael's apartment and I moved out into Max's house. I finally learnt how to sit on seats but sometimes I find the table a lot more comfy.
I'm not the only Desert Baby around her now. That's the name for the next generation. We havent returned to Antar and I havent become a queen or whatever I was supposed to be.
"Our turn!" shouted Lauree, one of the twins. There was Lauree and Larry, Michael and Maria's kids. It was interesting how they worked. Max went over and pulled the spear out of the toy snakes head. He handed it gracuiously to them and they held hands and held the spear together in the other. The stood there for a good twenty minutes while we watched.
Just when we thought they'd gone off into one of their little trances they looked up spun round away from the snake and threw it. It landed in Valenti's tire.
"Sorry!" I jumped up
"It's okay Liz"
"I'm so sorry Great Uncle Valenti!" they twins called
"Well their aim is certainly getting good. What are you lot doing out here? The wedding is starting in half an hour!"
"Max fix his tire! Kids into the jeep!" I hurried the kids into the jeep and Michael and Maria climbed into the Jetta kissed quickly and headed back into town.
We all followed Valenti's hummer back into town and I cleaned up our dusty clothes. I cleaned up the kids as well. Lauree and Claudia were in bridesmaids dresses while Larry was in a tux. He'd complained at first and wanted to know why he was wearing a dress like the girls but after we explianed it he blushed and said dresses were stupid.
We arrived and Kyle was standing there with a angry look on his face.
"Where the hell have you been!" he snapped at us all the while looking at me.
"Sorry Kyle"
"Yeah well sorry wont cut it! You know how she gets when things dont go to plan!"
"Just go wait by the altar I'll get the others ready" I shooed him off and Isabel came rushing in with a bad look on her face. Mr Evans calmed her down then took her arm.
"Are you all ready?" I asked and there came mumbled replies "Children remember one step at a time" the music sounded and me and my husband found our seats. We stood up as Isabel came in and began walking down the aisle. She stood next to Kyle and his face lit up like Christmas. Hmm what to buy for Christmas... tree, presents, turkey oh yeah the wedding.
"Do you take Isabel Amanda to be your lawful wedded wife?"
"I do"
"And do you Isabel Amanda take Kyle James to be your lawful wedded husband"
"I do" he replied. I smiled and turned to Max.
"You are hereby officially welcomed into the I-Know-An-Alien-Club. You may now kiss the bride" I joked. But as Queen I felt it my duty to welcome Kyle to the family. It was a hellova family to be proud of. I know I was!
