Ok I'm just curious, but i wonder which one people like more Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings since both are obviously popular and greatly written books.
And as for me, I like them both the same. Its hard to choose. Of course i was never any good ay chooseing anything.

Well, it's difficult to say. They're both written very very different and for different groups.
I prefer the Harry Potter books over the Lord of the Rings books, as a personal level, because Lord of the Rings kinda bored me when I read it. I didnt' like the way JRR Tolkien had it written. But as for respect, I must respect Tolkien for creating such a wonderful world! It's amazing and brilliant and the storyline is more... what's the word?.... deeper, more professional.
As for movies, the Lord of the Rings movies were way way better. But since this is a Book thread, I suppose you're speaking of the books. So I suppose I'll say the Harry Potter Books.
All in all, however, both were grand novels that earned my respect on nearly every level possible. I adore them!

I have never understood the whole hype about Harry Potter. I read the two first books because I wanted to see for myself what they were about, but they were so completely and utterly boring and it was no challange reading for an 18 year old that I quickly got bored out of my mind, so yea I would choose The Lord of the Rings any day.
Just my opinon though. I come in peace.
