Part 7
Let me give you a little history. About your planet. Your name was Vilandra and you were beautiful, even more beautiful than you are now. You had a great love, and for him, for us. You betrayed your brother, your race, you sacrificed him, you sacrificed everyone, even yourself. And history my dear always repeats itself.
Isabel awoke suddenly from Alex’s shoulder. She couldn’t get what Whitaker said out of her head. She didn’t know if it was true or not. Should she believe her? For all she knew it could have been a trick, to divide and conquer.
Alex was getting concerned. Isabel hasn’t been the same since she got that message from her real mother about her destiny, but especially since her birthday three weeks ago. She never told anyone what happened that night.
“Isabel?”
“Yea Alex.”
“What’s wrong? Did you have a bad dream?” He said as he cupped her cheek with his hands hoping she would tell him what’s frightening her so much.
“No, it’s something else.”
“What do you mean?” He said, looking puzzled as to what she was about to say.
“It’s a recurring event playing in my head.”
“Does this have to do with the night of your birthday?”
“Yes, Alex. I never told anyone about what happened that night when I went to rescue Tess.”
“You can tell me Is, you have to let me in.”
“I think I will.” She smiled at him, knowing she could tell him anything.
“Alex, take my hands”
“Okay.” And he did.
Isabel was sending him images of what happened to her that night. From the visions she received from Tess to finding her in that abandoned factory to discovering who kidnapped her from what Whitaker told Isabel about her past life and then when Isabel made that fateful choice to kill Whitaker. He felt what she felt. She felt guilty, she never killed anyone before, and she didn’t know what to think at that moment. He then spoke.
“Wow. No wonder you’re so bent of shape.”
“Well now you know, you know what a terrible person I am.”
“Isabel, that doesn’t change anything, that doesn’t change who you are.”
“Yes it does Alex. I was a traitor to everyone, to Max, my mother, my whole planet.” She started to shed tears and Alex being the perfect boyfriend ran his thumb to shed away her tears.
“Isabel, look at me. That wasn’t you. That was someone else in a different lifetime. I know you, you could never do anything like that, ever.”
“You really believe that Alex?”
“I do, I believe in you Isabel. I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t.”
The next thing he was going to say, he has waited to tell her for a year and he thought now was the time to do so.
“I love you Isabel. You are all that matters to me, here and now.”
“I love you too Alex. I never stopped loving you.”
Isabel started to cry. No one has ever said that to her before but she knew he meant it. She’s never loved anyone the way she loved Alex and he felt the same way. Their faces leaned in closer as their lips touched with a tender kiss after declaring their love for one another.

A jeep and an SUV approached the home of a Mr. and Mrs. Crawford, parents of the passed Vanessa Whitaker. Liz called the Crawfords earlier to let them know they were coming for the memorial service. Mrs. Crawford insisted that they stay at their place since the memorial was in the early morning. Liz said they could stay at the local motel, but Mrs. Crawford wouldn’t hear of it. The gang got out of their vehicles and approached the small house.
“You’re on.” Max whispered to Liz.
Max, Liz, Isabel, Alex, Tess and Kyle approached the walkway to where Mrs. Crawford was standing looking over her mail that she just received.
“Hi Mrs. Crawford. I’m Liz Parker, Vanessa’s assistant. We talked on the phone.”
“Oh right, Liz Parker.”
“I’m really sorry to hear about Vanessa. It’s just so terrible.”
“Why thank you dear. What are you doing here?”
Oh well, there were some of your daughter’s personal effects left in her office and I thought you should have them.”
“Oh honey, that is so sweet. My lord, you didn’t have to do that.”
“It’s quite alright Mrs. Crawford.”
“Oh, did you all work with Vanessa?”
“Not exactly.” Isabel said.
“Oh, I’m sorry, this is Max, Isabel, Alex, Kyle and Tess.”
“Walt! Visitors! These young people drove all the way up here to bring home some of Vanessa's things.”
“Why didn't they just send them? “
“What a thing to say! After they went to all that trouble. You must be so tired and hungry after that long drive. Come on in the house. I want to make you something to eat.”
Inside the house, the gang was sitting down in silence while Mrs. Crawford was in the kitchen and Mr. Crawford was listening to country music on record.
“Did you take the 70?” Mr. Crawford asked Max which route they took to Arizona.
“No, the, uh, the 10.”
“Walt, did you hear that?” Mrs. Crawford asked as she came into the living room.
“They came all this way for her service.”
“Well, we felt like...like we should come. You know, the congresswoman, she was very...she was special...to all of us.” Liz said, trying to sound sincere about their daughter.
“Like a mother.” Isabel said. And Alex looked back at her knowing how hard it is for her to be in the house of an alien that she herself killed.
Isabel notices a boy who is peeking in at them. It's Nicholas, Vanessa Whitaker's brother
“Hi.” Isabel said.
“Nicholas, there you are! Come on in here. Come on, say hello.” His mother said.
“No, ma'am.” Nicholas sounded scared to see these strange visitors that were in his home.
“He took it real hard. He and his sister were very close.” Ida said softly to the group.
“Maybe we'd better just find a hotel. We don’t want to overcrowd you here.”
“All six of you? At that old Motor Inn? I won't hear of it! You're all going to spend the night here, and then tomorrow we can go to the memorial service together.”
“Are you sure? “ Alex asked.
“If Vanessa was like your mother, we're like your grandparents. We'll treat you just the way Vanessa would have wanted. Well, ok, let's eat up, there!” Mrs. Crawford said.

Meanwhile back in Roswell, Michael and Maria were staking out the apartment across the street from his. Based on the pictures Maria found, Courtney has been stalking Michael since the minute she set foot in Roswell.
“This isn't going to work. She's not just going to stroll up to her hideout while we're sitting here watching her.” Maria said.
This was your idea pixie.
“Okay, 1, don’t call me pixie and 2. that's not the way I remember it.”
“Ok, so now it's my fault.”
“You know what? Just to make things simpler, from now on you should consider everything to be your fault, ok? Ok.”
“Well, I know one way to make the time go faster.”
“Oh, funny.”
“I know.”
“But if we can talk reality here for a second, I think she booked. Out of town.”
“No dice. She wouldn't do that. She's obsessed with me.”
“Well, I guess that makes 2 of you, then, doesn't it?”
“She'll show up sooner or later.”
And then out of nowhere.
“How 'bout sooner?” Courtney appeared.
Michael and Maria turn around to see Courtney in front of them. Michael immediately goes into his energy blast pose.
“Whoa! Hey, truce.” Courtney holding her hands up in surrender mode.
“Don't move.” Michael says while his hands are still in energy blast pose.
“Don't worry. I won't. You're watching the building. You figured out where I'd be from the pictures. That's very good, Mikey G. You're everything I thought you'd be and more.”
“Oh, god! Do your lips not get chapped from all the ass-kissing?” Maria says, sick and tired of the constant comments that she makes to Michael.
“Sit down. So you're a skin, like Whitaker.” Michael asked.
“How'd you get on to Whitaker?”Courtney is shocked that they knew about Whitaker.
“We're asking the questions here, ok? Now, why are you in Roswell? Where's the rest of your evil army? And most of all, why are you obsessed with my good-looking, if badly groomed boyfriend?”
“Thanks Maria.” Michael smirkly said.
“You’re welcome Spaceboy.” She smiled back.
“I'm not obsessed with him, ok? I follow him in the...political sense. We're not with the other skins. We're renegades who believe that if you were in charge instead of Max in the first place, that none of this would have ever happened.”
“What are you talking about? In charge of what?” Michael sounded confused.
“Our planet, Michael. You don't remember any of this, do you?”
“Suppose you tell me.” Interested in what she had to say.
“Yeah, the short version, please.” Maria said as she couldn’t stand another long story.
“The short version...is that our planet was on the brink of a golden age, and then it all fell apart. You were the one who could have united our planet, pulled together the warring factions, brought peace. But you weren't on the throne.”
“Max.”
“You wouldn't betray him. That loyalty cost your lives and those of everyone you loved. Please, just don't let history repeat itself. You're the one we need. You're our leader, our salvation.”
“Michael, if you can hear me now over the sound of your rapidly inflating ego, could you please tell me that you do not believe what this...this Michael-worshipper here has to say?” Maria said yelling in his ear so he could get the message.
“No...no...no way. No, this is just part of your plan to divide and conquer.”
“I knew you weren't ready to hear this.”
“What's in Copper Summit, Arizona?” Michael asked.
“Copper Summit's just some old tourist trap.” Courtney lied.
“What's there?”
“I'd stay away from there.”
“Why?” Maria asked.
“Let's just say there aren't any Michael-worshippers in Copper Summit.” Courtney explained.

Back at The Crawfords, Tess was looking around the living room of old photographs of the Congresswoman and her thoughts drifted to the night she was captured. She still has nightmares of what happened that night. If Isabel hadn’t found her, who knows what would have happened.
She didn’t realize that Mrs. Crawford entered the room.
“Penny for your thoughts.” Mrs. Crawford replied.
Tess was startled as she dropped the portrait, luckily not breaking it.
“Oh, Mrs. Crawford, I’m sorry, you just startled me.”
“It’s quite alright.”
“You must have been very proud of her.”
“Very much, she was a treasure.”
“Tell me about her, what was she like when she was my age.”
“Oh she was wonderful, just wonderful.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Upstairs, Max was in the bathroom getting changed as Liz was unpacking her things and she noticed she wasn’t alone. Nicholas was standing in the doorway.
“Oh, Nicholas, you scared me. Please come in.” Liz offered.
Nicholas started walking in but he stopped.
“I don’t bite.” Liz joked.
“This used to be her room. This is the first time I have been in here since she died.”
“I am so sorry about your sister. She was very special.”
“Thank you. I was going to visit her in Washington next year. We were going to spend 3 whole days at the Air and Space Museum.”
“Did you get a lot of time with her growing up?”
“When she’d visit she’d make time. She was always telling me about life outside Copper Summit, how there’s this whole wide world of possibilities and adventures. She didn’t want me stuck here the rest of my life.”
“I know how that feels.”
“I know you do. She was always telling me stories about this other galaxy. How there’s this war going on like a revolution.”
“True stories?”
“How can they be true?”
“Did she ever mention Zan or Kivar?”
“How do you know about Kivar?”
“Vanessa told me some stories too.”
There was a silent awkwardness between Nicholas and Liz. He felt something about her, something very intriguing. Just then, they were interrupted by Max, who came out of the bathroom.
“Hey.” He said.
“Hey Max.” Liz smiled back.
“I just came to say good night.” Nicholas said.
“Good night Nicholas.” Liz said.
“What was that all about?” Max asked.
“Just some small talk.” Liz replied.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So what have you found out.” A man spoke in a deep voice to the young boy known as Nicholas.
“You were right. It is him.”
“And the girl? Is she the chosen one.”
“Yes my lord.”
“Excellent. We shall proceed in the morning.”
“Yes Kivar.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the morning, everyone was getting ready for the memorial service. Liz felt very nervous, she didn’t know why. Maybe it’s because they were here undercover to try and find out more about the truth about Whitaker’s staged death.
“Liz?” Max knocked on the bathroom to check on her. “You almost ready?”
“Max, I’m still drying my hair. I’ll meet you at the service.”
“Okay sweetheart. I’ll see you in a bit.”
“Okay.”
Max left as Liz finished getting ready for the service. She was all ready and was walking out of the bathroom when a bright flash hit her.
A man standing over Liz’s unconscious body was laughing softly.
So you are the king’s chosen one. He certainly chose well, too bad for you.” Kivar laughed evily.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At the memorial service, the gang minus Liz were gathered with the other mourners. The Crawfords came in and Max went to them and asked them if they have seen Liz. They said she was on her way but Max knew something didn’t feel right. He can feel it in their connection that something wasn’t adding up.
The service has begun as Max, Isabel and Tess walked up to Whitaker’s “body” to pay their respects.
“Good looking pile of dust.” Tess whispered.
“This just can’t be possible.” Isabel said.
Isabel reached for Whitaker’s hand and pushed her fingers into it and created a hole. This body was a fake. She covered it up with the flowers to hide the evidence that they knew this body was not Whitaker’s.
Max looked up at the man giving the service and noticed his skin was peeling. It was a trap. Max turned along with Isabel and Tess.
“Come on, let’s find Liz and get out of here.” Max whispered as they made their way to the door.
“Ummm, not so fast Max.” A man said.
The man slammed the doors shut with his powers. Max turned and was shocked of what he saw. The man from Liz’s vision. Kivar.
“Kivar.” He said.
“Yes, Zan, its me in the flesh. Oh and I have something you might be interested in.”
Kivar snapped his fingers as two of his men slowly brought out someone that Max never thought he would see captured in the hands of his worst enemy. The men brought her out with bruises on her face and arms. His one true love, Liz Parker
“Liz.” Max whispered.
What was Max going to do?
