Part 8
Max helps Liz into the jeep and makes sure she’s comfortable. He then gets in and they drive to his house. They talk animatedly along the way about all that Arianna has just shared with them.
Liz says, “Max I really liked meeting your mother. It’s just wow! When she has news to tell us, she really has ‘hold on to your seats folks’ type of news. I wish we could talk with her again without all the drama. It would be great to just get to know her, and about our planet, and people. Won’t Isabel be surprised when we show her the image of Arianna and how much see looks like her,” says an excited Liz.
“I know what you mean, Babe. Remember what she said about Isabel and Michael. That they are my sister and brother. I hope we can figure out a way to tell them with out freaking anyone out,” says Max. Iz and I have always felt close to Michael like a brother, but we’ve always just been friends with him. Knowing now that he’s our brother just really feels right. This is just soo cool. Do you think Iz will be surprised about Michael? He’s going to be sooo happy, everyone will think we drugged him,” laughs Max. “We should try and call Michael and Maria when we get to my house. We really need to share this news with them right away,”states Max. “You don’t think Maria will freak out, and go running in the streets screaming her head off do you?” Asks Max.
“No, not Maria. She was freaking out when I first told her the secret. But in the end she was okay with it. She realizes everyone is just the same as always. Isabel and I have already discussed all that with her quite a while ago, after the shooting. It’s all water under the bridge now. Maria’s a rock. She can handle it. If anything, she’ll probably be glad not to be left out of the fun and games. You know how she is. Hun, what about Alex? He is a part of this too. Remember what your mother told us about the importance of Alex and Maria,” reminds Liz.
“Yeah, your right. But he needs to be let in on one shocking secret at a time. Perhaps we should see what Isabel suggests on how to tell Alex. What are we going to tell Isabel, Michael, Alex, and Maria about our new relationship status. Obviously we will have to tell them something as well as enlist their help in our cover stories so we can be together. We’ll see how they react to the other news first, before we share the info about our bonding. Minus all the personal details of course,” offers Max.
We can’t wait on this news, Max. Our enemies are coming here. We have to tell them right away and start training and honing our abilities together. All of us. That means the ‘Destined Four’ plus Alex, and Maria, too. They are a part of this now. I think this is a lot to take in, but we did. I’m sure they will be able to deal with it too. It’ll be okay. They will have us to talk with about it, okay Babe?”, says Liz as she reassures him by a gentle squeeze of his thigh. “We’re in this together, forever, Babe. You know I got your back on this. Our friends and family will be shocked, but they’ll deal with it”, reassures Liz.
“Well, I suppose you could be right.” They quickly approach the street that Max lives on and turn right, drive to his house and pull into the driveway. “Well, it looks like now is as good a time as any to find out. It looks like someone is here noting the lights on in the kitchen and living room.” Max quickly hurries to Liz’s side to help her out. He looks at her and pulls her into his arms and offers her a kiss seeking her love and support. He steels himself to tell Iz about some of what has happened. Max looks at his watch noticing that his Mom and Dad should’ve both been home by now since it’s 6pm. Max and Liz walk united, hand in hand to his front door as he uses his key and lets them in.
“Is anybody home?,” asks Max aloud. He and Liz hear a thud, and muffled voices coming from the end of the hall by Isabel’s room.
Max calls out, “Isabel, are you here? Max and Liz both look quite concerned. They hear more noises that sound like shuffling and hopping. Max and Liz look at each other growing more concerned by the second. Max puts Liz protectively behind him as they walk to Isabel’s room. Isabel quickly emerges from her room and quickly shuts her bedroom door behind her preventing them from seeing into her room. She appears disheveled with her hair slightly messed up and with the buttons down the front of her shirt mismatched by one. Her shirt is untucked from her leather pants. Isabel looks really surprised and very flushed to see them here, now.
“Hi guys! I didn’t expect you home so early. I thought you said around 8pm, wasn’t it?,” says a jumpy and nervous Isabel.
Isabel abruptly leads them towards the kitchen and away from her bedroom. “I’m really thirsty, anyone want a soda?” Asks Iz.
Max and Liz look each other with a smile and a question in their now joined minds wondering what is going on with Isabel.
Isabel walks over to Liz and they exchange a knowing smile. Isabel thinks ‘Operation Bag Max’ worked big time. My plan worked!, Isabel smiles. Liz responds to Isabel by mentally projecting her thoughts into Isabel’s mind, ‘Yes, it most certainly did!’says Liz’s mind voice. Isabel hears Liz’s comment and her eyes get as big as saucers with this realization of what this means.
Max can’t help, but comment on this. Out loud Max states, “ What ‘Operation Bag Max? What Plan?.” Max obviously tuned in to their mental conversation.
Max walks swiftly over to Isabel. Isabel cringes internally and thinks, oh no, he’s going to kill me. Max continues walking over to Iz looking at her sternly as he closes the distance between them. He wraps his arm around and gives her a brotherly hug and says, “Thanks Iz!”
“I’m not mad at you Iz. I wouldn’t kill you, you know better than that,” says Max.
Isabel says, “ Wait a minute! How’s this possible? How did you read my thoughts? Asks an astonished Isabel.
We have a lot of things to tell you Iz. Well, actually we have a lot to tell Michael, Alex, and Maria. But first, where are Mom and Dad?” asks Max.
“Uhhh. . . Oh Dad called. He asked Mom to run an errand for him. Then he said he was taking her out to a much needed dinner and movie for two, and that they’d be home around 10pm,” Isabel says, rolling her eyes. “We are on our own for dinner. Mom gave me $30 for us to order pizza.”
“Yeah, Mom and Dad sometimes do that when they make semi impromptu dates with each other,” Max explains to Liz.
“Oh, I think it’s sweet they do romantic things like that after years of being married,” says Liz.
“I’ll remember that, Babe,” says Max as he gives Liz a quick kiss. He reaches for the tabasco sauce to put a little in his soda.
“Okay. What is that supposed to mean?,” asks Iz.
Iz would you call Alex and Maria and ask them to come over ASAP. We really need to round up everyone and share this news. It would be easier to just say this all one time. I need to ask you if you think that Alex would be okay with knowing our secret, Iz?”, says Max as he grabs Liz’s hand, as if to imply it’s her secret too.
Isabel replies, “Max, I have a confession to make. I uh. . . already told him. It just happened. He didn’t believe me at first. I had to show him some of what I could do. He seemed really intrigued by our secret. Alex told me that he knew I was unique when he met me, but had no idea just how true those words were. Alex and I are really close now, we’ve shared a lot of stuff with each other and now we’re a couple,” finishes a blushing Isabel.
Liz opens her new mental connection to Isabel asking her, “So does that mean you and Alex have uh. . . how should I say this. . . have carnal knowledge of each other, inquires Liz delicately phrasing her question.
Isabel answers through their mental connection, “Yes.” “What about you and Max?,” asks Isabel.
“Liz replies, “Yes, and then some. We’ll tell you when everyone’s here. We aren’t sharing any private details so don’t bother asking about them,” says a smiling and beaming Liz.
“Liz! I don’t want to know any private details about you and Max having sex. That’s just ewww,
he’s my brother. Don’t get me wrong I’m really happy about you two. But, there are just some things I really don’t need knowledge of involving you two. I love you both and I couldn’t be happier for the two of you.” Isabel takes a few short steps to Liz and says, “welcome to the family girlfriend,” offering Liz a hug.
They hear more thumping and whispered cursing coming from Isabel’s room. Isabel just closes her eyes wishing Alex would just learn to be quiet. There is no way of explaining away all this noise. “Could you both give me a moment, and I’ll be right back, ” says Iz walking back to her room to speak to Alex. She enters her room and says, “You don’t have to worry about being quiet Max and Liz are here and have figured out that some one is in my room. Alex why are you making such a racket in here? Gees, we could hear you from the kitchen,” says Isabel.
My shoe, I can’t find my other damn shoe. And my buttons, where the hell are the buttons to my shirt? What did you do with them, Iz? Did you change them into something else? Asks a frustrated Alex. Isabel looks around at the mess Alex has made in her room searching for his missing because of action items. Isabel smiles at how cute he is right now.
Just look at this mess. Gees Alex, I’ve killed Max for less than this. It’s a good thing I love you. Isabel uses her powers by waving her hands around her room putting things back to rites and removing any suspicion as to what activities had taken place there. Isabel looks around and is pleased with her alien handy work and says, “That’s better!” She looks around for Alex’s shoe that is apparently awol at the moment. She looks up and sees Alex’s shoe is resting on top of the ceiling mounted light fixture. Isabel points up at the ceiling and bursts out laughing, as a perplexed Alex looks at her.
“What? What’s so funny Iz? You’re in here laughing at me while your brother and Liz are out there probably plotting my demise right now, as we speak,” shrieks a hysterical over reacting Alex.
“I guess we got a little wild earlier, huh? I’m afraid to ask how your shoe got up there,” says a laughing Isabel.
“Great, maybe my sock is up there with it,” speculates Alex trying to inventory his clothes.
Isabel once again emerges from her room, this time with a nervous one shoed Alex following her. Max and Liz look at each other and just smile, as they share a mental conversation. ‘Well that explains the noise and Iz’s normally impeccably groomed appearance being disheveled. It looks like they’ve had a development of their own to share. What’s with the one shoe?’ observes Max and Liz.
Alex greets Liz with a hug and says “Hi!” to Max. Alex is half afraid of what Max might do to him under these conditions especially since he didn’t look like he liked him much previously at school.
Max replies, “Hi Alex, What’s with the one shoe.”
Alex replies, “Don’t ask. I wouldn’t know where to begin.” Isabel gives Alex a look.
Max says, “so you’ve been hiding in my sisters room, huh? Care to share what that’s all about?,” Max enjoys seeing Iz and Alex squirm under his questions.
“Babe! You had better quit with the tough guy act, okay. I know you’re not upset at them, so stop torturing them,” says Liz as she gives Max a playful swat on the arm.
“Darn it, Babe. You just had to ruin all my fun. But okay. I’m not mad at either of you. Actually, we’re kind of relieved. This should make some of our news easier to tell you then,” says Max.
“Okay, once again, what is all this about. Enough of the cryptic comments and knowing looks you two are exchanging,” warns Isabel.
“I promise we will tell you everything . . . well almost everything, just as soon as you call Michael and Maria and get them over hear ASAP. It’s been a day full of surprising revelations for us,” says Liz.
Iz calls Maria’s, “there’s no answer. She calls Maria’s cell phone and leaves a voice message, “Maria call the Evans’s ASAP there’s an emergency meeting.”
Iz then call’s Michael’s. Almost ready to give up after the 7th ring, she hears Hank Guerin, Michael’s drunken foster father, pick up and say hello then stumbles and drops the phone. Michael picks up the phone from the floor. “Hello, who is this?” Asks Michael.
“Hi Michael, It’s Iz. Uh, Max, Liz and I need you to come over right away. There’s an emergency meeting and we need you here ASAP. We tried to get a hold of Maria, but couldn’t. So I left a voice message for her. Could you please find her and bring her over right away. Liz and Max say they have really important news that affects all of us. So find Maria and hurry on over,” says Isabel.
“Yeah, sure Iz. We just stopped by the trailer . . . after we. . .We’ll be right over. Maria’s with me. See ya in a few. Bye,” says Michael.
An embarrassed Michael carries his passed out foster dad to the couch and covers him with a blanket knowing Hank will sleep til morning like usual.
Maria hands Michael the keys to her Jetta and they climb in and drive to Max’s house. They are stunned when they get there to see Liz sitting at the kitchen table on Max’s Lap contentedly as they feed each other pizza topped with tabasco sauce. Then Alex and Isabel wrapped around each other cuddling affectionately on the couch also taking turns feeding each other pizza.
“Okay, we’re here where’s the fire,” says Michael. What is going on with everyone. Is there something in the air or what?” As he looks from Isabel and Alex to Max and Liz.
“What are you complaining about, Spaceboy? I didn’t hear any complaining earlier,” replies Maria.
Michael blushes, and grabs her close to him. “We don’t need to share private stuff with them, you know”, whispers Michael to Maria.
Liz smiles at them and says, “ We heard that Michael!”
“What’s the emergency meeting about? Why is Alex here? Since when do we have the newbies at school attend our meetings?” asks a demanding and frustrated Michael.
Liz and Max both stand and take charge of the meeting. Okay Michael everyone’s here because some of the news we have affects them directly. Well, all of us actually. Max takes Liz’s hand in his and tells them that they are definitely back together. We have committed ourselves to each other, actually bonded or married according to Antarian custom. We found out about our reason for being on Earth. Liz and I have more in common then what we originally thought. She’s one of us, Michael and Iz. Michael, you’re my and Isabel’s brother. We learned soo much today. Then Arianna, our mother, also made an appearance and answered many of our questions and also informed us of our enemies that will be coming here to Earth to look for us. She told us that Alex and Maria are an important key to our survival against our enemies to save both Earth and Antar. Here, let us connect by all of us holding hands. This will fill in the details.” Max leans towards Liz and whispers so that only she can hear, “let’s be careful to only show them mothers images, Tess, and Nasedo’s images, and not any of our bonding or personal stuff okay Liz,”says Max.
With the circle complete the selected images begin to flow freely. Max and Liz focusing on the exact images they wanted to show the others and omitting the personal privates ones of them. The others are stunned to see the images of Arianna and how much Isabel favors their mother. Michael is stunned to learn that he is Max and Isabels’ brother. The group then learn about Max and Liz being married now, and how they are the key that has unlocked all this wealth of information that has come forward. Of course, Michael and Isabel were shocked about how Max and Liz’s bonding also acted as trigger for Michael and Isabel to seek out their chosen mates in Maria, and Alex. Amazed that their mother, Arianna, new everyone’s names and who they were meant to be with.
Next, the horrific images of Max, Liz, Isabel, and Michael are seen all lying dead on the floor in a room. The group are shown the images of the murders, Tess and Nasedo. Seeing for a fact they did all have a past life, they know that they were recreated and cloned. The friends are surprised that Liz shares their heritage as an alien hybrid. She and Max loved each other in their past lives, further explaining the amazing connection that they share and how it has gotten stronger over the years. Since their bonding, Liz’s dormant powers are now coming to the forefront. Their connection is now stronger and uniquely includes Michael and Isabel. Any member of the ‘Destined Four’ can sense one another, but only if permitted by the sensed one. This must be a part of being members of the ‘Destined Four’. This explains Michael’s un asked question regarding how he earlier was able to reach out with his mind and sense Max and Liz’s presence, but not allowed to see exactly what they were doing.
Max adds, “Michael, uh. . . I know what your thinking about earlier sensing Liz and I. I seem to recall a memory that it’s possible to block each other when appropriate, sparing everyone any embarrassing intrusions. I think it is mainly a way of locating each other and for tactical strategy purposes for when we have to confront our enemies. That way we will know where each are at. It’s kind of like telepathy or maybe ‘Destined Four’s alien version of teleconferencing” puzzles Max understanding the purpose of such an ability.
Maria and Alex are surprised to learn that Arianna considers them to be an important compliment to the ‘Destined Four’, as now they have bonded to their chosen mates. Maria bonded to Michael. Alex to Isabel. They all play an important role in saving the destiny’s of both Antar and Earth.
They listen intently as they see Arianna’s image and messages that Maria and Alex will each develop some powers, not like the others but, still very useful.
Maria and Alex both exclaim, “ Cool, we are going to get powers, too!”
Maria says, “ I hope we get that whole alien lo-jak powers too, that could be handy keeping track of my Spaceboy and friends.”
Michael says, “Oh great . . . Just what I need my girlfriend having 24/7 access to where I am and what I am doing at all times. I hope your happy now. Gees, be careful what you wish for Maria .”
“Oh come on, Spaceboy. It could have other advantages, too,” Maria says seductively.
Michael blushes getting her seductive tone and following her thoughts.
“Uh. . . Maxwell, we need to talk about this development and about our own privacy later.”
Max smiles almost laughing at Michael’s embarrassment, “ Yeah sure Michael, no problem. It looks like all of us have a need to explore our privacy and seeing about blocking private stuff.”
“We are supposed to be the leaders, the Destined Four, we are here to lead the colonists already here. We all need to train and strengthen our powers and get ready to take on the enemies when they show up looking for us. Oh, and somehow find the colonists and hook up with them. Great we have no idea where they are, or how much time we have to train before this Tess and Nasedo show up to try and off us,” says a typically abrupt Michael.
Max and Liz concentrate harder after the distraction of everyone’s comments at the images and the messages they’ve heard so far. Max and Liz continue to share the images and messages from Arianna. Finally, all the pertinent images and messages have concluded. Max and Liz break the connection to their friends by letting go of their hands. Max and Liz continue to hold each others hands needing to feel the contact.
“Well guys, that was what our mother shared with us and now you know too. What do you think about all that. I know it’s pretty intense all the information she gave us. We knew that you all had to be told immediately. We need to start training with our powers, very soon. Liz’s powers are very strong and seems to be developing at a rapid rate since our bonding. We tested them and together we are very strong in what our combined abilities were like with just that one simply test. Our powers are supposed to be the most powerful of all Antarians if we combine all of our energies, powers and strengths as a group of six we will be an impenetrable force to our enemies.
We still need to keep a low profile with our alien status with outsiders, teachers, and family,” says Max.
“Uh. . . guys, I’m not really sure how to ask this but, Max and I will need your help covering for us with parents etc. Remember we are married now, and well we need to be with each other and we aren’t ready to share our alien marriage to our parents anytime soon. We’re sort of hoping you guys could help us out with that, please guys. Remember, we could always exchange the favor with the other couples in our group. Besides, Max and I are the leader’s of the ‘Destined Four’ we could always pull rank,” smiles Liz.
“This is just great, Max. I get out ranked by your wife. I thought I was your second in command and brother,” kids Michael. Michael walks over and hugs Liz, and says “welcome to the family Liz.” “Hey, you’re my sister-in-law now. Whoa, I never thought I’d be saying that to anyone. This is soo cool, I have a family and you are all right here with me. This is amazing news,” says a happy and smiling Michael at the realization his family is with him.
Maria walks over to Michael, who is talking with Liz and Max. Maria says, “Hey girlfriend, so you two are married now according to Arianna and Antarian customs. That’s amazing, Congratulations you two,” Maria hugs both of them. “I don’t mean to rain on your wedded bliss, but how are you two going to keep this a secret from your parents. I suppose you plan on sneaking back and forth between houses at night, right? You do realize that eventually your parents will catch on that their 17 year old children are having sex and promptly try to put an end to you seeing each other. So, count me in on whatever I can do to help keep your secret from them as long as possible. You know Liz, my Mom’s out of town a lot since she’s trying to run her own business and taking classes and stuff. I’m sure we could work something out using my house,”offers Maria with a smile of support. “Besides we need to change the name of our club Liz. I’m not so sure that the ‘I know an Alien Club’ is really true any more.” Maria shrieks as it dawns on her, “Oh my God, if you guys are now married by Antarian custom, what does that make Michael and I, or Alex and Isabel for that matter?” Michael and Alex’s eyes get huge at the realization of what an Antarian bonding represents.
Max and Liz share a knowing look at each other. Max reassures the group, “Relax guys, Liz and I are considered married by Antarian custom apparently because there are three levels of bonding that must be completed. First, we have seen into each others souls. Second, we share a permanent connection in each others minds and souls. Third, we knew the act of lovemaking represents a marriage commitment. You must declare your choice to commit forever to your chosen bonded mate, for the bonding to be considered a marriage. This came across in Liz’s dreams that she and I shared prior to deciding to complete the final level. In other words, the Antarian bonding or marriage ceremony, is considered an eternal commitment. There is no going back on it. So, I guess you guys are off the hook, until you are ready to commit, Antarian style. We realize that there will have to be an official Earth ceremony to follow, at some point.
“Marriage. Liz, that sounds so cool.”
Michael rolls his eyes sarcastically and says, “This day just keeps getting better and better, doesn’t it.” Everyone laughs. This earns him a swift punch in the arm courtesy of Maria.
It just now dawns on Maria that her other best friend is an alien, too. She grabs Liz’s arm. “You’re not human, like Max, right?”
Liz looks up at Max and gives him a quick kiss on the lips before answering her question . “Yes, Maria . I’m an alien hybrid, too. Just like the images we showed you, remember? To answer your next question, yes I have powers and they are rapidly emerging since Max and I bonded, just like Arianna mentioned,” replies Liz.
“Liz, that’s soo cool. Do you suppose you could use them to teach that Pam Troy a lesson? That girl needs a major attitude adjustment and a make over. Liz, she’s been sniffing around Max, again. You know she’s had a thing for Max, but he just ignores her. She just doesn’t take the hint. I think it’s high time that she learns a lesson. Don’t you, Liz?”
“Maria! I don’t think I should be using my powers publically like that. But, you say she’s not getting the hint about Max, hmmm. Well, I’ll see what I can do, after we get started on training. But first, I really need to learn how to control all the new powers that are emerging.”
Isabel, who overhears Liz and Maria’s conversation, can’t help but join in. “What is this about Pam Troy bugging Max. Oooh, whatever you want to do to her count me in. No one messes with my brother or his wife’s relationship. Besides Liz you’re not just one of my best friends you’re my family now. No one messes with my family or friends and gets away with it. So, that being said, what did you have in mind for Pam Troy, anyways. Liz, I’ll show you a few simple things you can try and see if those work, power wise, and then will talk strategy. We need to keep it low profile for obvious reasons,” says a happy Isabel.
I’m really glad that Max and I have your support and that you’re my best friend and now my sister-in-law. You know, what you said goes both ways. No one messes with my family or friends and gets away with it. I’ve got your back whenever you need me,” says Liz. “Besides, Maria and I always have thought of Alex like a brother, so now that you and Alex have bonded, I feel like your married to my brother. Does that sound strange? Alex was okay with the alien heritage stuff?
“Everything is fine with Alex. He actually thought it was cool, after I had to prove it to him. He seems okay. He says this all seems a little surreal, but he’s cool with it. You and Maria were right about Alex, he is a great guy. I love him. Boy, did Arianna’s message hit the nail on the head with who we were all supposed to be with. I know I’ve got no complaints,” smiles Isabel. She looks up to see Alex walking over to her.
“Well, you know I certainly don’t,” says a shamelessly grinning Liz. She blushes from the mental conversation Max is having with her and sharing certain images he’d like to repeat with her later tonight. “Max! You just stop sending me those images right now,” says Liz out loud. Then mentally she adds, ‘or I’ll send you some that could make you react, in front of all our family and friends’, warns Liz.
Max bows his head in defeat, and kisses her on the forehead and whispers, “I’ll show you later babe,”says Max.
Max walks over to Michael and says, “hey I wanted to tell you. We saw some other images too, it showed how you and I both had perfected our fully matured powers and what we are capable of doing. I now know how to do those things, and I saw how you can perfect your powers too. You’ll have complete command of them Michael,” says Max. We need sit down now and figure out a training schedule so we can all train together the sooner the better according to Arianna.
“Michael, so you and Maria have bonded then?,” Asks Max.
“Yes. I’d ask you, but I already know. Especially, after that phone call this afternoon. You two were way too lovey dovey on the phone, even for you two. No details Max, now that Liz is my sister-in-law I don’t want to think of her and you like that. I feel like I should watch out for the both of you, as your second in command and brother. Then there’s Iz, I’ve always thought of her as more than just a friend, more like a sister. I’m soo happy to know that you, Iz, Liz, Maria, and Alex are my family. This is like a dream come true for me Max,” says Michael with a big shitty grin plastered across his face.
Max and Michael look over there shoulders, back at their family. They decide they should give Alex the standard brotherly warning. They nod their heads in agreement as they approach the girls and Alex.
“Hey, Mr. One Shoe, I mean Alex. Can we have a word with you over here.” A blushing and reluctant Alex goes over. “First of all we can’t have you sharing any of this news about us and all the alien stuff with anyone other than those here right now, understood. Also we know that you are now bonded to Isabel. Just so you know, if you hurt our sister it won’t go unnoticed by us. Do we understand each other, Alex? There’s no hard feelings about earlier at school. Isabel told us who you are to Liz and Maria, luckily for you. And by the way, welcome to the family and to the ‘Destined Four’s family. We know Liz and Maria think of you like a brother. So I guess that makes all three of us sort of brother’s-in-law then. Remember we all look out for our family. Now that being said, do you want another soda?,”says Michael. “Hey, Max you still have that copy of ‘Brave Heart’. We could get Alex’s help with the body count. We can never agree on the actual number, so you could help us settle this once and for all,” Alex.
“Uh . . . Of course, I won’t share any of this information with anyone else, but those here. Believe me, the last thing I plan to do is hurt Isabel. I love her. Besides I have no desire to die young at the hands of her two brothers. Your warning is duly noted. I promise to only love her and do my best to make her happy. I would appreciate your help finding out what her favorite things are so I could surprise her sometime,” says Alex. “About ‘Brave Heart’, I’ve never seen that movie. Sure, I’ll be happy to help with the count. I mean, how many could it be?” asks Alex.
Max, Michael, and Alex announce to the girls they want to watch a Mel Gibson movie. The girls all seem interested and always up for seeing Mel in a movie. The girls quickly follow the guys into the family room. They each pair up with their bonded mate and get cozy to watch the movie.
Liz notes whispering, “Max it’s 7 pm, remember I told my parents I’d be home at 8pm. You’ll need to take me home soon,” says a mournful Liz.
“I know, Babe. I’ll get you home on time, don’t worry. I want you to call me later, when it’s safe for me to come over after your parents are asleep. I should probably take a change of clothes just in case I sleep later than usual,” says Max.
“You know that’s a really good idea. That way, we can truly stay the whole night with each other and keep a fresh change of clothes at each others house. That way we can sneak back to our perspective houses and emerge from our rooms in fresh clothes, hopefully keeping our parents suspicions at bay. At least until we get caught,” says Liz.
“Hey Babe, remember what I said before. We are in this together. If we have to face down our parents about us being together, we will. No one is going to separate us. Not ever, Liz. I promise you that, my love,” states a reassuring and confident Max.
Michael is mulling over and absorbing all the information they were shown earlier. Michael loses his ‘Brave Heart’ body count as he ponders Liz’s situation. “Why wasn’t Liz’s pod kept with ours, and how come her powers were latent?,” asks Michael.
“Our protector Cal, chose to separate Liz’s pod from ours so that enemies of Antar would not be able to locate the ‘Destined Four’ using alien technology to detect the four pods. You see, if the four pods together, when they hatch, they’ll emit an Antarian energy signature that can be tracked. It requires all four pods together to emit the signal. Cal found that loop hole and exploited it to protect us. Furthermore, Liz’s powers were suppressed and dormant until she and I bonded because our powers together activate the Granilith. It was an issue of timing because the scientists that cloned us didn’t want us to activate the Granilith until we were old enough and physically able to protect it.
Max’s conversation is interrupted by the persistent beeping of his watch’s alarm. It’s 7:30 and time to get Liz home. He needs to get her home before 8 PM like she told her parents, earlier that day. Liz, by honoring her commitments to her parents, will help keep her parents suspicions in check. This strategy is your basic smart teenagers guidelines to making the system, and parents,
work for them.
“Michael, it looks like I’ll miss some of the body count of ‘Brave Heart’ once again. Alex you stay and keep up the count with Michael. One of these days we’ll get an actual agreed upon body count,” says Max.
“Guys, I got to take Liz home. It’s getting late. We should all meet tomorrow morning at the flagpole before school. From there we can figure out how to handle things with school, teachers, other students, and of course the other aliens. All right every body,” says Max as he and Liz make their way to the door to leave.
