Chapter 11
Liz floated through the kitchen, humming a soft tune as she prepared breakfast for Max and herself. She had woken up to find Maria and Michael stretched out on the couch. Then they had gotten up and with a promise of full details of their night from Maria, and went out for breakfast, leaving Max and the dorm all to Liz. After setting the table to her liking, she bounced out of the room to wake Max.
She crept into the bedroom, and carefully slid down beside him, wanting to watch him in all his innocent, naked glory before waking him. He was so beautiful and she watched him in awe, afraid that if she moved this wonderful person would vanish into thin air. He was lying on his back, his arms hugging the pillow that she’d slept on close to his chest. She still couldn’t get over the fact that this Adonis was laying, sleeping soundly in her bed. And he loved her and thought she was beautiful. And he had made the sweetest love to her last night.
Never had a man cherished her like he did. No one had ever taken the time to tend to her needs and make sure she was satisfied too. Not that she had many partners, but out of the ones that she had had, Max was the only one to care about her pleasure too.
She kissed his lips as her hands roamed his chest. He sighed against her lips and turned into the pillow.
“Liz.” He moaned, nuzzling his cheek into the cool fabric. His eyes fluttered open and he looked to the pillow in confusion before he pushed it away.
“Ha. Ha. You thought the pillow was me.” She teased as he turned to face her, wrapping his arms around her.
“I knew it wasn’t you. It’s not as soft as you are.” He replied in a raspy, sleep filled voice. Smiling, she leaned down to press her lips to his.
“I made breakfast.” She announced.
He winced. “Not so loud.” He said as he grabbed his head in pain. “God, I’ll never drink again.”
“Awww, poor baby.” She cooed. “I’ll give you some aspirin after we eat.”
He smiled slyly. “I’d rather have a repeat of last night.” He said as he wiggled his eyebrows.
“Oh, so you remember?” She sighed, tilting her head as his lips targeted her neck.
“Best night of my life.” He mumbled seductively. “How could I forget?” His hands wandered under her oversized shirt, brushing against her naked breasts as he climbed on top of her.
Melting into his gentle touch, she cupped his cheeks in her hands, raising his head to kiss his alluring lips. At snail's pace, her pajamas were scattered across the floor and he explored her body, worshiping her. And as the need to become one grew too unbearable, she flipped them over and rode him until they reached the highest of highs only coming down just enough to catch a breath before doing it over again.
Afterwards, they lay spent in a tight embrace. “Did I make up for passing out last night?”
Her daze, lulled by the steady thump of his heart under her cheek was broken when she realized he was waiting for an answer. “Is it alright if I quit school and just spend the rest of my days doing this with you?”
“I’ll take that as a yes.” He smiled, pressing his lips into her hair. He was just about to drift off into a blissful sleep when Liz spoke up.
“Max, what are we going to do about Tess and your father?”
He groaned aloud, not trying to hide his reluctance to talk abut this particular subject right now. “Babe, can’t we just go for round 4 instead?”
She abruptly tore from his arms, jumping to her feet. “Max, there will no more ‘rounds’ until we discuss what we’re going to do about this situation.” She stated sternly as she put on the pajamas she had on earlier.
Holding his hands up in surrender he said, “Okay, okay. No need to withhold the perks.” He held out his hand for her to take, but she refused and took a step back. “Liz.” He pouted.
“Don’t Liz me.” She scolded as she threw his boxers at him, smacking him in the face. “Get your horny ass out of bed.” She demanded, her tone laced with hidden mirth.
“Liz, can I at least have a kiss?” She narrowed her eyes suspiciously, crossing her arms over her chest. “One kiss.” He swore, placing his hand over his heart. “I promise.” He flashed a charming smile and she caved the minute he did.
“Fine, but you keep those paws where I can see them.” She sighed in mock exasperation. She shuffled over to the bed and crawled next to him. Pecking his lips quickly, she backed away.
“C’mon Liz,” He whined. “That was just a peck.”
“You didn’t say the type of kiss you wanted.” She declared.
“A peck isn’t a kiss, so I get a redo.” He smiled.
“A peck is a kiss.” She argued defensively.
He shook his head in protest. “No, a peck is just a peck. It has its own category.” He explained.
“What? That makes no sense. A peck is a type of kiss, so therefore, it’s a kiss.” She smiled in triumph at his defeated look. “Ha, I’m right and you’re wron…Ahhhh.” She screamed as Max tackled her, pinning her body under his. His mouth swooped down, caressing her lips in a fiery attack. He nipped at her top lip before running his tongue over her bottom. She responded, opening her mouth, letting her tongue tangle with his. She moaned into his mouth, losing herself in his taste.
Max pulled away, panting as he smirked down at her. “That’s a kiss.”
Rolling her eyes, she slapped his chest. “You’re such a jerk.” She said, squirming out of his arms before he could connect his lips to her neck. She trotted out of the room.
Sighing, he sat up, grabbing his boxers and a shirt and wiggled into them. He found Liz in the kitchen, putting the now cold breakfast into the microwave. Creeping behind her, his arms snaked around her waist. She yelped in surprise only to relax against him.
“I hope you don’t mind reheated eggs and bacon.” She laughed as the microwave beeped and she took out the food.
“Not at all.” He answered. He led her over to the table, situating her on his lap.
“So, what are we going to do?” She questioned as she fed him a piece of bacon.
He chewed thoughtfully before answering. “I don’t know. But I do know that I have to get away from Tess. And then I’ll probably have to drop a couple of my classes to get a second job to pay for everything. I think I have some money in the bank that I could use.” He fed her a spoon full of eggs.
“Are you moving out?”
He nodded, eating the bacon she held in front of him. “She’s moving in, so… yeah. I’m staying with Michael and Alex until I can find a place or until they drive me insane.”
“Oh.” They finished eating in a comfortable silence, cleaning up afterwards and then curling on the couch to watch t.v.
“Max, how would you feel about us moving in together?” She suggested. Caught off guard, he choked on the grape he was chewing, dramatically gasping for air as Liz patted his back. “Well, nice to know how you feel about it.” She muttered after he settled down.
“No. No, you just took me by surprise.” He quickly assured her. “It’s just, are you really considering this? I mean, we’re not moving to fast? We just met a couple of weeks ago.” He reasoned.
She crawled onto his lap, straddling his legs. “And yet I love you and you love me.”
“You got me there.” He frowned, resting his hands on her hips. “But Liz, I’ve never moved this fast in a relationship before. And I’ve never felt this strongly about someone before.”
“Me either. I fell for you that day I ran into you that first time.”
He smiled. “Me too.” He whispered, leaning forward to bring their lips together. “Liz, if my father finds out about this, I don’t know what he’ll do. He’s already pissed and I’m afraid that if he finds out about you then he’ll find some way to ruin everything. I don’t want him corrupting your life. If he’s capable of blackmailing his own son, I would hate to see what he would to do someone he didn’t know.” He explained with lowered eyes.
She cradled his cheeks between her hands, rasing his downcast eyes. “Max, I refuse to let your father dictate our lives. If he has a problem with us, then so be it. I love you and that’s all that matters. This is the first time I’ve been truly happy with a man and I won’t let him ruin it.”
“But Liz…”
“No buts Max. We are going to be happy and that’s the end of it. I believe we can do this. Don’t you?”
He nodded. “Of course.”
“Good.”
“Okay, so what about Maria? What’s she going to do about a roommate?”
“Isabel could move in with her. She’s always over here anyway.” She deduced. “Max, we could get an apartment somewhere close and I could help you out with the rent. My father has money and he deposits a couple of bucks in my account every week. I could help you out with your tuition.” She continued to ramble on, making plans, already deciding on how to decorate their nonexistent apartment.
He silenced her, placing his finger over her lips. “Babe, slow down. We need to find a place before you go painting walls and hanging pictures.” He chuckled. “You really want to do this?” She nodded eagerly, her eyes lighting with excitement and he knew his matched. “But, I don’t want to take your father’s money. I need to pay for it on my own.”
“Max, you won’t be able to afford everything, even with two jobs. I can help Max. Let me help.”
“Liz…”
“Please, Max.” She pouted, sticking out her lower lip and looking at him from beneath her eye lashes.
He rolled his eyes heaven ward and let out a long sigh. “Fine, but I’m still getting the two jobs then.”
“Men and their foolish pride.” She mumbled, wrapping her arms around his neck.
“You love my foolish pride don’t you.” He whispered against her lips.
“Mmmhmm.”
Max pulled away before he got too caught up in her. “As much as I’d love to start round 4, I have to get ready for work.” He grabbed her around her waist and set her beside him. “We can start looking for an apartment after I get off. Mind if I use your shower?”
“Go ahead.” He gave her a quick kiss before wandering off into the bathroom. When she was sure he was out of sight, she clamped her hand over her mouth, quieting her excited squeal.
*********
Max practically skipped out of the museum after his shift. He was on his way to meet with Liz and even though he’d just left her a few hours ago, he was more than ready to see her again.
He reached his hand into the pocket of his jacket in search of his keys as he made his way to the parking lot. He frowned when he couldn’t find them, but came to a halt when he spotted Tess leaning up against his jeep.
“Hi Maxie.” She squeaked, a broad grin forming on her lips. “Looking for these?” She said, holding up his keys.
He closed his eyes and counted to five, hoping, for Tess’ sake, that he could hold his temper. “How the hell did you get my keys?”
“Oh… I just snuck into the backroom and took them out of you jacket.” She laughed. “Don’t you want to kiss your girlfriend hello?” She cooed, stepping forward and opening her arms wide.
He took a retreating step back. “You’re not my girlfriend. We’re through. I would have thought you'd have that through head already, seeing as there's nothing in there.”
She continued to smile smugly. “I beg to differ Maxie. Your father called. He wants to know how things are going between us. He’s not very happy which means, no more money Maxie.” She wagged her finger in front of his face, clicking her tongue as she shook her head.
Swallowing the urge to throttle her, he snatched his keys out of her hand. “He can stick his money up his ass for all I care.” He growled as he stalked over to his jeep and stepped in.
“Oh, so you’re going to go to your little girlfriend now? I saw you two together last night. Was she a good fuck Max. I could be better than her. She’s nothing compared to me.” She challenged, crossing her arms over her chest.
“Thankfully, she’s not.” He started the jeep and placed it in drive. “Oh and Tess, the next time you decide to wear a water bra, I’d advise you to find one without a hole in it.” He said, pointing to the large wet spot on her shirt. And he pulled off, leaving a flabbergasted Tess behind.
