Chapter 11
"Welcome to San Fransico!"
Finally, it took forever to get here!
"Is our hotel close to Liz's house?" Micheal asks, standing up to get off the plane.
"As close as we can get. It'll take 20 minutes to walk there." We both look at Isabell like she grew a second head.
"Or...we could take a cab, but I have to tell you, we are very low on spending money. Besides you guys can handel a little walking."
2 hours later
"Whose idea was it to walk?" Micheal and I glare at her.
"Yours!" She glares at us.
"Ya well next time remind me to change out of my heals, my feet are killing me."
"Don't worry sis, were here." She looks up and gasps.
"She lives there? Are you sure were at the right house?"
"My name is Micheal, I'm never wrong. So are you gonna ring the doorbell, or am I?"

"Knock knock." I turn off my TV annoyed. I really like that episode of Charmed.
"Come in." I look toward the door to see who was bothering me, only to be relieved to see it was Vinney. I smile.
"Hey Vinney!"
"Hello, how are you feeling?"
"Alot better now. Whats up?" He pulls the telephone from behind his back.
"I figured since they are so busy in the office downstairs, you have a few minutes to talk to your friends." I squeal and give him a big hug.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you."
"Your welcome dear, now hurry. I'll be back soon." He leaves and I dail Alex's number, I talked to Maria last time, its his turn.
"Whitman residence, Alex speaking."
"Alex, you have no idea how good it is to hear your voice!"
"Lizzie?"
"Ya."
"oh God, how are you? You still hostage or are they finally setting you free."
"No, I'm still a hostage, Vinney got a chance to sneak me the phone."
"I knew I liked him. So what is this greaduation plan thingy and how much trouble am I gonna get in?"
"Well, after graduation, we're gonna go to New Mexico."
"We are, thats great, why aren't we leaving now?"
"Well, we have to graduate first. Why else would I still be here? You know I'm not allowed to talk to Grandma Claudia?"
"What, why?"
"My mom flipped out on her."
"Wow, so you get to go to graduation right?"
"Ya, we leave right after. Vinney said he is gonna convince my parents to let me drive my jeep to the ceramony, I'll have our stuff in the car already. You guys drop off your stuff the night before greaduation."
"Maria and I already tried to sneak in to see you but your parents changed the code to the main gate."
"Ya I know, but Vinney is gonna get the codes soon, and I will call you again."
"OK. You know, we have to do somthing for Vinney, hes done so much for us already."
"I know." I hear the doorbell go off.
"Shit, I gotta go."
"Allright, I love you Lizzie."
"Love you to, bye." We hang up and I head downstairs to see who was here. I hung up the phone and jumped when I hear my father yelling.
"I SAID NO, NOW DON'T COME HERE AGAIN." Then the door slamming.
"Who was that?" He looks startled at first but quickly covers it up.
"No one important." And he walked away. I glance over at Vinney.
"Vinney?"
"I don't know. I got here after you did. He insisted on answering the door, like he knew who it was."
"That's odd."
"Don't fret child, its probly just one of his businessmen."
"Ya probably. I finished with the thing and its away now." Of course I wouldn't say 'I'm done with the phone and I hung it up!' My parents could be listening.
"Alright."
"Thank you Vinney." He smiles and I head back up to my room.

"OK whose going to go up and knock, we can't all go." I look at Isabell and nod my head.
"You go Iz, you know how her parents are with boys."
"That would be a good idea Max, except that they already know me. She was screaming my name at the hotel in Mexico, and I am almost positive that her father seen me."
"Well you don't know that he did." Micheal said.
"True, but do we want to take that risk? Max, do you think they saw you comming back from Liz's hotel room? Maybe that's why they took her home so quick." I look at Isabell and feel really guilty.
"HER ROOM? WHAT THE HELL MAXWELL?" I jump at the tone in Micheal's voice. I totally forgot that he was still sleeping when we got back.
"Getting mad isn't helping our situation. OK so the only person that the Parkers haven't seen is you." Iz said poitedly to Micheal.
"Well I guess I'm going then." I can't help but feel a little jealous, but he is her brother. Iz and I watch as he heads to the door. For some strange reason, the main gate was open.

I'm gonna kill Max. I swear, if he did anything with her. OK, now isn't the time to get angry. I'll settle this with him later, right now I need to see my sister again. I go to knock on the huge door, but it's pulled open before I can knock.
"Is L...Elizabeth home?"
"She is not allowed to come to the door."
"Well, I'm working with her on a school project and we need to work on our presentation." Of course I'm gonna lie, I can't just say 'Hi I'm her brother.'
"Elizabeth is homeschooled." Shit. That I did not know. Nothing else to do but tell the truth.
"Look, Mr. Parker, I'm..."
"I know who you are, Micheal right. Look, I don't want to anywhere near my daughter."
"But..."
"I SAID NO, NOW DON'T COME HERE AGAIN." I look at the now slammed door with more questions then I came here with. How did he know my name? Why doesn't he want me near her, she is my sister. But what I was really thinking about was how I was going to get to her without her father knowing, while we were still in California.

I heard yelling and the door slamming. Not good.
"Micheal, what happened?" I ask as soon as he was in ear shot.
"We should have sent Isabell. For some reason he knew who I was. He told me not to go near her."
"How did he know who you were. Max, you don't think Tess would have told him do you?" I look at Isabell and sigh.
"I sure hope not. Now what are we gonna do?"
"Go to the hotel and figure somthing out quick. I miss them. I miss Alex."
"I miss Maria...and of course Liz, shes my sister."
"I miss Liz."
"Ya, about this spending the night thing...what the hell are you doing Max?" Oh God, this is gonna be a long night.

Hey Guys, I'm sorry it took so long, but its here! I hope that you guys like it. And I can't say it enough...thanks so much for stickin with me, it really means alot!
Chapter 12
When we got back to the hotel, we started to think of what we could do, I had to see Liz again.
"What are we gonna do? We can't just give up!"
"Micheal, we're not giving up. I say we try to get Maria or Alex, maybe they can help us."
"Great idea Max. I say that we get Alex." Micheal stops walking around the room and glares at her.
"Of course you would say that, because then you get to see your little boyfriend again. I say we go to Maria."
"OK, no more fighting that is getting us nowhere. How about we get them both." They nod their heads in agreement and we call the front desk to get their information. I smile as I got off the phone.
"Got it. Hopefully there parents alot nicer then Liz's parents. Lets go."

I sigh as I look around at our food supply, I didn't eat lunch with my parents. I havn't really spoken to them since my mother forbid me to see Grandma Claudia.
"Ooh strawberries." I grab them and head to my room. I stop when I hear my dads voice through the office door.
"I don't care what it takes. You keep that Micheal Guerin away from my house." My heart stops. Micheal was here? When? Was Max and Izzy with him? They had to be, he wouldn't come all the way here alone. Wait, how did he know where I was at?
"How did he find her? This is what I was afraid of. Now he is going to want money. He is just being friendly to her so he can get ahold of her money. He is a gold digger, just like those guys she dates. Elizabeth is to innocent and nieve to see it. Look, he has to be staying in town somwhere. Find him and watch his every move. I don't want him anywhere near my daughter!"
I can't belive him. I was about to go in and interupt his conversation but I had a better idea. I run upstairs and grab my bags. Graduation or not, I had to get out of here, and I had to go now.

As we get out of the cab, we look up at the huge house in front of us.
"Are all of there houses big like this?"
"I think so Izzy." She looks at me and we head for the door. Thank God they didn't have a gate like Liz. We look around at who was going to knock.
"Fine I will, its just a house." I glare at Micheal as he rings the doorbell. We see a tall man in a suit answer the door, must be the butler.
"Can I help you?" They all galnce at me so I ask.
"Yes, we were wondering if we could speak to Alex."
"Yes, master Whitman is out back, follow me." We follow the man, with Izzy in lead. Man, he has a really nice house. As we get to the backyard we see Alex over by the pool on the phone, his back to us.
"He is right over there." We thank him and head over to him, hearing the last part of his conversation.
"Ya, she said she was ok. We are getting the codes soon, she has to wait on Vinney to get them." Codes? Vinney? What is Alex talking about.
"Ya, OK, I love you too." Izzy stops walking for a second, looking sad.
"Maria, ok I hear you, I gotta go." She smiles, glad that it was only Maria. He hangs up and we stop right behind him.

I look around my really empty room. Makeing sure that I have everything. I spot wiskers, a stuffed rat that my Grandma Claudia gave me. I grab it and set it on top of my stuff. I hear a knock on my door and I freak out.
"Just a minute." I stuff everything under my bed and run to the door. I wait a minute to compose myself and open the door.
"Hi Vinney. I am so glad it was you."
"Whats the matter, why did you want to see me? are you alright?" I smile at Vinney, glad to have him on my side.
"Listen Vinney. I have to go. I can't take it here anymore." He looks at me, not at all surprised.
"What about graduation?"
"I don't know, I guess I will have to see what I can do then, but right now I have to go."
"It took you long enough." I laugh at him.
"Well, I couldn't just leave. I mean they're my parents, and I love them very much. But when I heard that my father knew who my brother was, and then just send him away like that, it was all I needed to leave."
"Where are you going?"
"I don't know yet. Hopefully my brother is still in town, I can stay with him."
"Do you need any help?"
"Yes, can you please help me get to my car and get me out of here. Do you know the gate codes?"
"I got everything. Lets get this stuff in the car." We head down stairs and sneak out the side door toward my car.
"Where are my parents?"
"In the pool house talking to some clients. That way when you leave, I'll tell the guards that one of the guests is leaving." He throws the last of my 6 bags in the car.
I look at Vinney and give him a hug.
"Thank you Vinney."
"No problem child. Here, Greandma Claudia sent this for you. She called and I made sure that I got the mail this week. It just got in." I glance at the new cell phone and smile.
"Wow thats great. Now I can keep in touch with you."
"Yes, I have the number. Now go before they catch you." I smile and give him one last hug.
"I owe you Vinney." I run and get in my new car and take off. As I round the gate, I pray that these windows are tinted really well. The gate opens and Im out. I take off down the street, letting out a loud scream, I'm finally free from that hell hole.

"Hey Alex." I see him tense up at Isabells voice. He slowly turns around and looks at us...well Isabell.
"Izzy, guys, what are you doing here? How did you find me?"
"We had to see if you guys were OK. The way you guys just left like that. That, and I missed you....we missed you...all of you guys." I laughed as Isabell fumbled at her words. He runs over and gives Isabell a hug. They stay like that untill Micheal and I clear our throats. They pull apart, cheeks red.
"Micheal, Max, how are you?"
"We would be alot better if you could help us out." He looks at me.
"Sure man, anything."
"Help us get to Liz." He gets a sad look on his face.
"I wish I could man, I really do, but her father wont even let us talk to her on the phone. Vinney...her butler, sneaks her the phone when he can, but her father is always on it. I finally got to talk to her yesterday for the first time since we got back from Mexico."
"God her father is an asshole. He slammed to door on Micheals face." Alex looks at my with wide eyes.
"You got to the door? What about the gate?"
"It was open."
"Mr. Parker must be expecting some guests then, man I wish I would have known that."
"Ya, and he knew who I was." ALex looks away from Isbell and looks at Micheal.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, he knew what my name was. He has to know that I am Liz's brother then."
"But thats impossible. Why would he keep that a secret from Liz. He knew how bad she wanted to find you."
"I told you he was an asshole."
"Can't you just tell the police that they are holding Liz against her will?" Alex starts to laugh at Isabell, but then stops when he sees that she was serious.
"The San Fransico police are like Mr. Parkers personal slaves. They never do anything that would make him mad."
"Why would they do that?"
"Because Iz, he has alot of money and he is a very powerful man."
"OK, so what if we were to get her out of here, whose to say that they can't bring her back?" We all look at Micheal lost in thought.
"We'll never know unless we try. When are you guys leaving?"
"Tomorrow." He nods his head at Micheal.
"OK, then we better work fast. Lets head to Maria's, she would want to know whats going on." We all agree and head for Marias house.

As I pulled into the long driveway, I knew that I had made the right choice in comming here first. I ring the doorbell, waiting for the person to answer it.
"Oh, my word, wha..." She pulls me into a big hug.
"Hi Grandma Claudia. I missed you." I say into her shoulder.
"Oh, honeyberh, I missed you too." she pulls away and drags me into the house.
"Thank you for the cell phone grandma."
"Well, I had to find some way to talk to you. I never did like your mother." She smiled at me.
"Come on, I just got done making dinner, you must be hungry."
"You read my mind."
"No, I heard your stomach." We laugh as we sit down to eat.

Alex rings the door bell to Maria's house, which is as big as Liz's and Alexs.
"They really are all big." We laugh at Isabell, and Alex just looks at her funny. Maria opens the door and starts to squeal.
"OH MY GOD WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING HERE? IZZY!" SHe runs and gives Iz a hug.
"I missed you so much. I didnt think that I was ever going to see you guys again. When did you get in? When are you leaveing. Why did you guys see Alex first?"
"Maria, can you please let us get a word in?"
"Well excuse me Micheal, I'm just a little happy to see you, this is what normal people do when they're happy."
"Not normal people Maria, Just you." They started arguing, and we all just laughed. They are so in love.
"OK TIME OUT YOU TWO." They look at me and stop.
"We are glad to see you, both of you, but we are still missing one person here, and we need to find a way to get her." Maria looks aroung and realizes whos missing.
"Liz." She looks sad and Micheal brings her into a hug.
"Don't worry pixie, we'll get her, we have to." she smiles
"Thank you." He gives her a quick kiss and then turns around to us.
"I say, we all hope into Alex's car and head to our hotel, order a pizza for dinner and find away to get Liz." Everyone agrees with him and we head for the hotel.

"I just don't know where to go now." She smiles at me as we sit on the couch.
"Follow your heart. What is it telling you to do?" I close my eyes and feel. As I open my eyes, a smile lights up my face. I knew exactly where to go next.
"Thank you so much Grandma Claudia. You always know what to say that makes me feel better." She smiles at me.
"Now is there anything you need me to do?"
"Yes actually, can I use your phone? I don't want to run my cell phone bill up too high."
"Of course dear, you know where its at."
"Thank you." After a few minutes on the phone, I got what I needed and went to say goodbye to Grandma Claudia.
"OK Grandma."
"You got what you needed?"
"I sure did. You know my cell number. When I get to where I am staying, I will let you know." She smiles at me.
"I'm gonna miss you."
"I'll miss you too Grandma." We say good bye and I head to my car. This was going to be an interesting night.

We got the pizza and we all headed up to the room. Maria and Alex let us in on what Liz's plan was after graduation, but we couldn't wait that long. We all had alot of ideas on what we were going to do now, but we were driving Izzy crazy because she didnt have a pen and paper to write them down on.
As I look at them, I couldn't help but feel lonely. Alex and Izzy were holding hands, and Micheal and Maria would sneak a kiss in whenever they thought that no one was looking. At that moment I realized how much I really missed Liz.
We were all laughing at one of Alex's jokes as we opened the door to our room, but stoped as we seen what was waiting for us.

"Yes actually, can I use your phone? I don't want to run my cell phone bill up too high."
"Of course dear, you know where its at."
"Thank you." After a few minutes on the phone, I got what I needed and went to say goodbye to Grandma Claudia.
"OK Grandma."
"You got what you needed?"
"I sure did. You know my cell number. When I get to where I am staying, I will let you know." She smiles at me.
"I'm gonna miss you."
"I'll miss you too Grandma." We say good bye and I head to my car. This was going to be an interesting night.

We got the pizza and we all headed up to the room. Maria and Alex let us in on what Liz's plan was after graduation, but we couldn't wait that long. We all had alot of ideas on what we were going to do now, but we were driving Izzy crazy because she didnt have a pen and paper to write them down on.
As I look at them, I couldn't help but feel lonely. Alex and Izzy were holding hands, and Micheal and Maria would sneak a kiss in whenever they thought that no one was looking. At that moment I realized how much I really missed Liz.
We were all laughing at one of Alex's jokes as we opened the door to our room, but stoped as we seen what was waiting for us.

Vacation of a Lifetime
Chapter 13
I cautiously make my way over to the sleeping form, careful not to wake her. I stare at her for a while, not wanting her to disappear like some sort of dream. With the setting sun blazing in through the open curtains, it settles around her like it was made just for her, and I can’t take my eyes off of her.
Not able to help my self, I tuck a piece hair that had fallen in her face behind her diamond-clad ear. The sun bounced off the diamond, making it shine in my eye and it takes a minute for me to realize my angel is awake. We stare at each other for what seems like eternity before she jumps up and wraps her beautiful arms around me.
“Max, oh God I am so glad to see you. You have no idea how much I’ve missed you.”
I hug her close to me, thanking my lucky stars for letting her back in my life.
“I think I do.” She laughs and I can’t help but smile.

I hug Max close to me, not ever wanting to let go. I can’t believe that after all this, we’re finally together. Then realization hit me like a ton of bricks. This isn’t over yet. Sooner or later my so-called parents are going to find us.
I glance over Max’s shoulder to my real family. All standing there with tears in their eyes, even though I can tell Michael is trying to hide it. Standing up, never letting go of Max’s hand, I head over to them, stopping at Maria and Alex first.
“Hey guys” I say as I pull them into a hug.
“I’m so glad to see you.”
“Us too chica, us too.” She gives me one last squeeze as Alex kisses my forehead.
I glance over at Izzy, smiling at the girl who has quickly become a big part of my life.
“Izzy, I’m so glad you guys came here, I missed you.” She pulls me in a tight hug.
“I am too, Liz. Maybe now my brother can stop moping.” I steal a look at Max, who is still holding my hand and give him a quick kiss.
“So you gonna give you favorite brother a hug or do I have to beat it out of you?”
“Michael! Do you have to be so rude, I mean you completely ruined the moment!” Maria huffs while smacking his shoulder. I can’t help but laugh its good to have them back in my life.
“Michael, you’re my only brother!” I laugh pulling him in a tight hug.
“So, what’s your point.” I pull back, getting serious.
“I missed you so much, all of you guys.” The all look at me and I can’t help but tear up.
“We missed you too Princess.” When Michael used my nickname, that was all it took to break the damn I was trying to hold in.
“Awww, you guys, group hug, group hug.” We all piled in, one giant group hug. The last time I was this happy was my last night in Mexico, but that was for a different reason.
When we pulled away from each other, we all sat down, enjoying the time we had together.
“So how’d you find us Princess?” everyone nods at Michael’s question.
“Well, I knew you guys would stay at a Hilton Hotel, so I called around asking for a Michael Guerin, or a Max or Isabel Evans. Once I found which one you were staying at, I headed here, then slipped the bell boy cash to let me in. I got tired of waiting so I laid down and fell asleep and well, here we are.” They all laugh at me.
I was so happy about having them back that I had completely forgot our problem, until Maria asked the question that I’m sure was on everyone’s minds at that point.
“So how’d you get away from your dad, chica?” I suddenly jump off the bed, the cloud of happiness long gone.
“Oh, my God, you guys, we have to go, NOW! I can’t believe I forgot.”
“Liz, sweetie, I’m sure we can wait a little while, you look exhausted, and its getting late. We leave tomorrow afternoon, so why don’t you get rest.”
“Max, you don’t understand, we have to go, you have to go, Now! My father is out there looking for me, my Grandma Claudia called my before I fell asleep, letting me know that my parents called her, looking for me. He’s already looking for Michael. It’s only a matter of time before he finds us.”
By now everyone is in panic mode.
“But he can’t make you go with him, can he.” Isabel asks while jumping up and packing.
“I’m afraid he can Iz. Mr. Parker is one powerful man.” Alex answers while helping them pack.
“So, chica, what’s our plan?” Maria asks, knowing I always have a plan.
“Max, Iz and Michael go home, tonight.” I say, knowing its going to cause problems.
They all stop doing what they were previously doing, and stare at me. A course of ‘No way’ and ‘I don’t think so’ went around before I held up my hand.
“I’ve thought a lot about this. I have to get my diploma, there’s only a week left in school and I could have graduated in January, but decided not to. So I figure I’ll go talk to principal Wexler and see if he can get my diploma and as soon as I can, I leave town.”
“We’ll whatever you do Liz, we’re going too.” Alex says.
“I can’t ask you guys to give up having your graduation.”
“You’re not asking babe, we’re telling you, there is no way we are letting you drive to New Mexico by yourself when the people that we love are there too.”
“New Mexico?” Is that where they lived? They all laugh at me.
“Look, she was leaving town and she didn’t even know where she was going!” Maria laughs.
“I was gonna find out before I left.” I say in my defense.
“Right.” I glare at Michael for being a jerk then sigh.
“Fine, you guys can come. Now, you guys, finish packing, then leave on the earliest flight you can get, I do NOT want my dad to find you guys. Alex, Maria, lets go, I want to get over to Principal Wexler’s house before it gets any later.”
“OK, But you have to follow me to my house so I can drop off my car and get my stuff. I’m praying that we can leave tonight or tomorrow morning.” Alex says.
We all agree and after a long kiss from Max and promises to see each other soon, we leave, heading over to Alex’s house.

We head to Principal Wexlers house before we head to Alex’s house, not wanting it to be any later. Alex follows Maria and Me. We finally pull into a nice neighborhood. Not nearly as nice as the one we live in, but nice non-the-less. I nervously knock on Principal Wexlers door, smiling when a girl no older than 3 answers the door.
“Hi, I name is Heidi and I a princess.” I smile at the girl.
“Well, hello Heidi, my name is Liz, is your daddy home?” She nods her head and takes off running.
“DADDY, DADDY, THERE A PRETTY GIRL AT DA DOOR FUR YOU!”
“Heidi Ann what did we tell you about answering the door without letting us know first.”
She looks down at her bare feet and mumbles.
“That it bad, and not to do it.”
“That’s right, now go help your mom in the kitchen sweetie.”
“OK Daddy.” She gives him a quick kiss on the cheek and takes off. Principal Wexler looks at the door.
“Liz, what a nice surprise, hello Maria, Alex.”
“Hi Principal Wexler” Maria and Alex chime in at the same time.
“Well come on in, what can I do for you?”
“We’ll you see, I was wondering, is there anyway that We can get our diplomas now, I mean, we can’t make it to the ceremony.”
“Why, do you mind me asking?”
“Well, were sorta leaving town and the sooner the better.”
“Off to college already? I figure you would want to stay with your parents for the summer, after all, you are going away for a while. And you can’t miss your graduation, you only get one high school graduation.” I sigh, definitely upset that my family isn’t as happy as his obviously is.
“We know, but we sort of can’t wait till graduation, we need to leave now.”
“You guys act like its life and death.”
“In a way it sort of is.” He looks confused and, even though I wasn’t planning on telling him, I told him everything, By the end of the story, he looks upset.
“So that’s why he put you on home studies. I knew I didn’t like that guy, I hope that I’m not like that with Heidi when she grows up.”
“You won’t be, you are a great dad.” He smiles at me then stands up.
“Well it just so happens that I received the diplomas in the mail yesterday, follow me.” We head to his study and he goes through the box. His wife walks in his office, carrying a very upset Heidi.
“I’m sorry to interrupt sweetie, but she got scared when she couldn’t find you.” She sets Heidi down and she runs to her daddy.
“Harry, what are you doing with the diplomas?”
“Well, these fine young students can’t make it to the graduation, so I’m giving them their diplomas now.”
“Well they can’t get their diplomas without a proper graduation ceremony. You kids wait right here, and I’ll be right back.” Within minutes, she’s back with three baseball caps and a Polaroid camera. She places the caps on our heads and goes over to Principal Wexler and her daughter.
“OK, I’ll be the announcer, Heidi you can be the music, and Harry honey, you pass the diplomas out.” We all laugh thinking that this is crazy, but somewhat glad that we at least got a mini graduation.
“And now, for the Graduating class of 2004” she looks over at little Heidi and whispers “start the music sweetie.” She then starts a very bad rendition of the traditional Graduation march.
“I will call the names in alphabetical order. Wow all this time being married to a principal, I think I could become one.” We all laugh and she glances at the first diploma.”
“Alexander Whit...what wait a minute, I said alphabetical, Harry, how hard is it to get three diplomas into alphabetical order?” He laughs then switches them around.
“OK that’s better, Maria Deluca.” We all clap as she heads to Principal Wexler to get her diploma. Mrs. Wexler takes a picture of Maria with her diploma standing with Mr. Wexler. She walks back to us.
“OK, OK. Elizabeth Parker.” We follow the same suit as Maria, picture and all, and then I head back to the group.
“And now its Alexander Whitman.” After all the pictures, and a piece of cake that Mrs. Wexler had baked earlier, we left, heading to Alex’s house to drop off his <A TITLE="Click for more information about car" STYLE="text-decoration: none; border-bottom: medium solid green;" HREF="http://search.targetwords.com/u.search? ... Dw">car</A> and Get his stuff. We waited in the car for him, not wanting to look too suspicious. His parents were actually home.

“Hi Mom”
“Oh, Hello Alex, what are you up too?”
“Well, I got a summer intern at my college, so I’m gonna be leaving.” Hey, in all truth, I was offered, but I turned it down, we all decided to go to UNM to be together, But my mother doesn’t need to know that, she’d tell Mr. Parker.
“You’re leaving, but what about graduation?”
“Well, I already got my diploma, see.”
“Alex, that’s great, I’m going to hang it in my office.” I look over at my dad who had just walked in.
“Well actually, I need it for the intern I’m going to. But I’ll send it to you when I can.” Knowing that were pressed for time, I give them a hug and head to my room to pack, but my mother’s voice stops me.
“Oh and Alex” I turn to look at her, one foot on the steps that lead to my room.
“Jeff Parker stopped by a little while ago, looking for Liz, said she was a little late coming home from a friends house, do you know where she is?” I panic and start back up the stairs.
“No mom, I haven’t talked to Liz in a while.” I yell as I run up the stairs to pack as soon as I could. He’s way too close; we have to get out of here. I pack and run down stairs, giving them a quick hung then my butler and I run with my stuff to Liz’s car, and we head to Maria’s house.
“Alex what’s wrong? What happen?” Liz asked
“Your father was at my house looking for you.”
“What, he as there?” I can see the panic in her eyes.
“No he was earlier, we really need to hurry and leave.”
“I’m going to call Max and make sure he’s getting on a flight.” She calls Max and I turn to Maria.
“Ria, you have to pack quickly, I know you’re really close to your mother, but we need to leave town.” She looks sad and nods her head, not saying a word.
We pull in Maria’s driveway and pull around back, just in case Liz’s father comes he was at my house, why not Maria’s.

I open the front door of my house, leaving Liz and Alex at the backdoor, I knew I wouldn’t be able to pack as quickly as we want, so I asked for help. I figure that gives me a little more time with my mom.
“Maria, what are you doing standing in the doorway?” I jump slightly, not knowing I wasn’t alone then relax when I see it was only my mom. Knowing that I won’t be able to say it, because I have never lied to my mom, I blurt out.
“I have a summer intern at the college, got my diploma early, leaving tonight love you bye.” And I make a dash for the stairs, completely forgetting about Liz and Alex.
“Maria, freeze.” Damn, so close. I slowly turn to my mom, standing with her hands on her hips.
“You know, Claudia told me you would try to lie, but I stood my ground, thinking, my daughter would never lie to me, she’ll let my know what’s going on, and you had to go prove that woman right didn’t you.” I stare at her completely confused.
“Huh?” She shakes her head at me hold up her finger indicating me to follow her, we go to the backdoor, and before she opens it yells.
“Alex, Liz you gonna stand out side all night?” Slowly the door opens and in comes a guilty looking Alex and Liz.
“Mom..How..but..”
“Maria, I’m your mom, I know everything!” She walks over to Liz and pulls her into a hug.
“Why didn’t someone tell me what was going on with Liz? She’s like a second daughter to me, I would have found a way to help.”
“Well see I was....” I was cut off by the sound of the doorbell going off and we all start to visually freak out.
“Oh no Liz, he found us, we gotta go.”
“Oh no you don’t. You guys go upstairs.”
“But he’s going to know I’m here.”
“Don’t worry Liz, trust me OK?”
We all nod and head up to the top of the stairs, there is no way I’m going to sit here and wait. We all carefully watch my mom answer the door.
“Mrs. Deluca.” I see Liz visibly freeze at the sound of his voice.
“Mr. Parker, what a surprise, how are you?”
“Well, see Elizabeth was suppose to be home from a friends house two hours ago, do you happen to know where she is?” I shake my head at his fake mask. There is no way he would even let Liz leave the house, let alone stay at a friend’s house. My mom should know that, Liz has only been here a few times in our long-term friendship. Don’t fall for it mom.
“I’m sorry, I haven’t seen her. But there is no need to worry, you know how teenagers are, their watch breaks every weekend. I’m sure she just wanted to have a little extra time with her friends before graduation.”
“Well is there anyway that I could speak to Maria, maybe she knows where she is.”
“I’m sorry, Maria isn’t home, she’s out with Alex.” I silently pray that that was what Alex’s parents told him.
“That was what they said, I was hoping that maybe they were back, we’ll if you see Liz, have her call me please, or come home.”
“Will do Jeff, you have a nice evening.”
“You too Amy” She shuts the door and heads up the stairs to us, we scramble up, running to my room, hoping she didn’t notice us eavesdropping. We sit on the bed like we were waiting for her to finish when she walked in.
“Save it, I saw you three watching, don’t act all innocent with me.” How does she know everything?
“I know everything because I’m super mom.” I know I didn’t say that out loud.
“Mom, how’d you find out about Liz?”
“Claudia told me. Now tell me what you plan to do, you can’t hide here forever, hiding in plain sight never works, I’m a musician, I know.” We quickly explain our plan.
“You’re not going!”
“Mom, don’t start acting like Mr. Parker.” She looks hurt at that comment.
“Mom, I have to go, I can’t be without Alex and Liz.”
“And you can’t be without Michael.” I glare at Alex and a laughing Liz.

“How’d you know my brothers name? Grandma Claudia?” Liz asks.
“Yes, and now you are definitely not going!” I look at my mom very seriously.
“Mom, I have to go, I can’t live without them, without Michael. They’re my family too. And now you have a reason to go back on the road to do a tour like you wanted. Make one of your stops Roswell, New Mexico.” She smiles.
“You sure you want to go?”
“Positive.” We hug and she gets up wiping her tears.
“OK then, lets get packing. How are you guys getting there and when are you leaving?”
“Well, Liz is taking her car and...”
“Don’t you think that he is going to find you quicker if you take your car?”
“Well ya, but it’s the only <A TITLE="Click for more information about travel" STYLE="text-decoration: none; border-bottom: medium solid green;" HREF="http://search.targetwords.com/u.search? ... >travel</A> car that is even remotely big enough to fit all our stuff.” Liz answers.
“Well, might as well give it to you now, you’re going to need it.” With that she walks out of the room and we all stop what we’re packing and look at each other, puzzled. A few minutes later, she walks back into the room with a small box with happy graduation paper on it. She opens it to find a picture of a dark red 2004 Escalade, and under the picture was a set of keys. I start screaming and jumping up and down.
“YOU BOUGHT ME A CAR. OH MY GOD, YOU GUYS SHE BOUGHT ME A CAR!”
“Yeah well I figure you needed a bigger car to move your stuff to the dorms, you are still going to college right?”
“Yes of course, were all going to UNM.”
“Oh, OK” she picks up an empty suitcase.
“So Liz, how are you going to go to graduation without bumping into your parents?”
Now I thought telling her I’m leaving early was going to be hard, how am I gonna tell her I already graduated...without her. We all look at each other, not knowing what to say, and then I lock eyes with my smiling mother. I laugh nervously then turn away.

“Well come on in, what can I do for you?”
“We’ll you see, I was wondering, is there anyway that We can get our diplomas now, I mean, we can’t make it to the ceremony.”
“Why, do you mind me asking?”
“Well, were sorta leaving town and the sooner the better.”
“Off to college already? I figure you would want to stay with your parents for the summer, after all, you are going away for a while. And you can’t miss your graduation, you only get one high school graduation.” I sigh, definitely upset that my family isn’t as happy as his obviously is.
“We know, but we sort of can’t wait till graduation, we need to leave now.”
“You guys act like its life and death.”
“In a way it sort of is.” He looks confused and, even though I wasn’t planning on telling him, I told him everything, By the end of the story, he looks upset.
“So that’s why he put you on home studies. I knew I didn’t like that guy, I hope that I’m not like that with Heidi when she grows up.”
“You won’t be, you are a great dad.” He smiles at me then stands up.
“Well it just so happens that I received the diplomas in the mail yesterday, follow me.” We head to his study and he goes through the box. His wife walks in his office, carrying a very upset Heidi.
“I’m sorry to interrupt sweetie, but she got scared when she couldn’t find you.” She sets Heidi down and she runs to her daddy.
“Harry, what are you doing with the diplomas?”
“Well, these fine young students can’t make it to the graduation, so I’m giving them their diplomas now.”
“Well they can’t get their diplomas without a proper graduation ceremony. You kids wait right here, and I’ll be right back.” Within minutes, she’s back with three baseball caps and a Polaroid camera. She places the caps on our heads and goes over to Principal Wexler and her daughter.
“OK, I’ll be the announcer, Heidi you can be the music, and Harry honey, you pass the diplomas out.” We all laugh thinking that this is crazy, but somewhat glad that we at least got a mini graduation.
“And now, for the Graduating class of 2004” she looks over at little Heidi and whispers “start the music sweetie.” She then starts a very bad rendition of the traditional Graduation march.
“I will call the names in alphabetical order. Wow all this time being married to a principal, I think I could become one.” We all laugh and she glances at the first diploma.”
“Alexander Whit...what wait a minute, I said alphabetical, Harry, how hard is it to get three diplomas into alphabetical order?” He laughs then switches them around.
“OK that’s better, Maria Deluca.” We all clap as she heads to Principal Wexler to get her diploma. Mrs. Wexler takes a picture of Maria with her diploma standing with Mr. Wexler. She walks back to us.
“OK, OK. Elizabeth Parker.” We follow the same suit as Maria, picture and all, and then I head back to the group.
“And now its Alexander Whitman.” After all the pictures, and a piece of cake that Mrs. Wexler had baked earlier, we left, heading to Alex’s house to drop off his <A TITLE="Click for more information about car" STYLE="text-decoration: none; border-bottom: medium solid green;" HREF="http://search.targetwords.com/u.search? ... Dw">car</A> and Get his stuff. We waited in the car for him, not wanting to look too suspicious. His parents were actually home.

“Hi Mom”
“Oh, Hello Alex, what are you up too?”
“Well, I got a summer intern at my college, so I’m gonna be leaving.” Hey, in all truth, I was offered, but I turned it down, we all decided to go to UNM to be together, But my mother doesn’t need to know that, she’d tell Mr. Parker.
“You’re leaving, but what about graduation?”
“Well, I already got my diploma, see.”
“Alex, that’s great, I’m going to hang it in my office.” I look over at my dad who had just walked in.
“Well actually, I need it for the intern I’m going to. But I’ll send it to you when I can.” Knowing that were pressed for time, I give them a hug and head to my room to pack, but my mother’s voice stops me.
“Oh and Alex” I turn to look at her, one foot on the steps that lead to my room.
“Jeff Parker stopped by a little while ago, looking for Liz, said she was a little late coming home from a friends house, do you know where she is?” I panic and start back up the stairs.
“No mom, I haven’t talked to Liz in a while.” I yell as I run up the stairs to pack as soon as I could. He’s way too close; we have to get out of here. I pack and run down stairs, giving them a quick hung then my butler and I run with my stuff to Liz’s car, and we head to Maria’s house.
“Alex what’s wrong? What happen?” Liz asked
“Your father was at my house looking for you.”
“What, he as there?” I can see the panic in her eyes.
“No he was earlier, we really need to hurry and leave.”
“I’m going to call Max and make sure he’s getting on a flight.” She calls Max and I turn to Maria.
“Ria, you have to pack quickly, I know you’re really close to your mother, but we need to leave town.” She looks sad and nods her head, not saying a word.
We pull in Maria’s driveway and pull around back, just in case Liz’s father comes he was at my house, why not Maria’s.

I open the front door of my house, leaving Liz and Alex at the backdoor, I knew I wouldn’t be able to pack as quickly as we want, so I asked for help. I figure that gives me a little more time with my mom.
“Maria, what are you doing standing in the doorway?” I jump slightly, not knowing I wasn’t alone then relax when I see it was only my mom. Knowing that I won’t be able to say it, because I have never lied to my mom, I blurt out.
“I have a summer intern at the college, got my diploma early, leaving tonight love you bye.” And I make a dash for the stairs, completely forgetting about Liz and Alex.
“Maria, freeze.” Damn, so close. I slowly turn to my mom, standing with her hands on her hips.
“You know, Claudia told me you would try to lie, but I stood my ground, thinking, my daughter would never lie to me, she’ll let my know what’s going on, and you had to go prove that woman right didn’t you.” I stare at her completely confused.
“Huh?” She shakes her head at me hold up her finger indicating me to follow her, we go to the backdoor, and before she opens it yells.
“Alex, Liz you gonna stand out side all night?” Slowly the door opens and in comes a guilty looking Alex and Liz.
“Mom..How..but..”
“Maria, I’m your mom, I know everything!” She walks over to Liz and pulls her into a hug.
“Why didn’t someone tell me what was going on with Liz? She’s like a second daughter to me, I would have found a way to help.”
“Well see I was....” I was cut off by the sound of the doorbell going off and we all start to visually freak out.
“Oh no Liz, he found us, we gotta go.”
“Oh no you don’t. You guys go upstairs.”
“But he’s going to know I’m here.”
“Don’t worry Liz, trust me OK?”
We all nod and head up to the top of the stairs, there is no way I’m going to sit here and wait. We all carefully watch my mom answer the door.
“Mrs. Deluca.” I see Liz visibly freeze at the sound of his voice.
“Mr. Parker, what a surprise, how are you?”
“Well, see Elizabeth was suppose to be home from a friends house two hours ago, do you happen to know where she is?” I shake my head at his fake mask. There is no way he would even let Liz leave the house, let alone stay at a friend’s house. My mom should know that, Liz has only been here a few times in our long-term friendship. Don’t fall for it mom.
“I’m sorry, I haven’t seen her. But there is no need to worry, you know how teenagers are, their watch breaks every weekend. I’m sure she just wanted to have a little extra time with her friends before graduation.”
“Well is there anyway that I could speak to Maria, maybe she knows where she is.”
“I’m sorry, Maria isn’t home, she’s out with Alex.” I silently pray that that was what Alex’s parents told him.
“That was what they said, I was hoping that maybe they were back, we’ll if you see Liz, have her call me please, or come home.”
“Will do Jeff, you have a nice evening.”
“You too Amy” She shuts the door and heads up the stairs to us, we scramble up, running to my room, hoping she didn’t notice us eavesdropping. We sit on the bed like we were waiting for her to finish when she walked in.
“Save it, I saw you three watching, don’t act all innocent with me.” How does she know everything?
“I know everything because I’m super mom.” I know I didn’t say that out loud.
“Mom, how’d you find out about Liz?”
“Claudia told me. Now tell me what you plan to do, you can’t hide here forever, hiding in plain sight never works, I’m a musician, I know.” We quickly explain our plan.
“You’re not going!”
“Mom, don’t start acting like Mr. Parker.” She looks hurt at that comment.
“Mom, I have to go, I can’t be without Alex and Liz.”
“And you can’t be without Michael.” I glare at Alex and a laughing Liz.
“Whose Miche...Liz’s brother Michael? You’re <A TITLE="Click for more information about dating" STYLE="text-decoration: none; border-bottom: medium solid green;" HREF="http://search.targetwords.com/u.search? ... >dating</A> Liz’s brother?”
“How’d you know my brothers name? Grandma Claudia?” Liz asks.
“Yes, and now you are definitely not going!” I look at my mom very seriously.
“Mom, I have to go, I can’t live without them, without Michael. They’re my family too. And now you have a reason to go back on the road to do a tour like you wanted. Make one of your stops Roswell, New Mexico.” She smiles.
“You sure you want to go?”
“Positive.” We hug and she gets up wiping her tears.
“OK then, lets get packing. How are you guys getting there and when are you leaving?”
“Well, Liz is taking her car and...”
“Don’t you think that he is going to find you quicker if you take your car?”
“Well ya, but it’s the only <A TITLE="Click for more information about travel" STYLE="text-decoration: none; border-bottom: medium solid green;" HREF="http://search.targetwords.com/u.search? ... >travel</A> car that is even remotely big enough to fit all our stuff.” Liz answers.
“Well, might as well give it to you now, you’re going to need it.” With that she walks out of the room and we all stop what we’re packing and look at each other, puzzled. A few minutes later, she walks back into the room with a small box with happy graduation paper on it. She opens it to find a picture of a dark red 2004 Escalade, and under the picture was a set of keys. I start screaming and jumping up and down.
“YOU BOUGHT ME A CAR. OH MY GOD, YOU GUYS SHE BOUGHT ME A CAR!”
“Yeah well I figure you needed a bigger car to move your stuff to the dorms, you are still going to college right?”
“Yes of course, were all going to UNM.”
“Oh, OK” she picks up an empty suitcase.
“So Liz, how are you going to go to graduation without bumping into your parents?”
Now I thought telling her I’m leaving early was going to be hard, how am I gonna tell her I already graduated...without her. We all look at each other, not knowing what to say, and then I lock eyes with my smiling mother. I laugh nervously then turn away.
