Chapter 7
March 2nd
I have been grounded for days now and for some unexplained reason I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. The night Max and I were getting…flashes…I practically ran to Michael’s apartment. Michael and Isabel were on their way out, but not before they offered me candlelight and Chaka Khan for Max and me. I was sort of embarrassed that Max would share something so intimate with not only Michael but his sister as well. I guess I sort of feel like I’d be breaking some cardinal rule if Isabel knew what I was doing with her brother, which was a lot more than kissing. That night, I felt Max’s hands in places I would never imagine him touching. The actual thought of Max touching me and making my skin glow almost seemed unreal, but not as unreal as me actually telling him to take off his shirt. I don’t know where I got the courage to tell him that let alone to actually touch his body as well. Feeling his body lying on top of mine was one of the most extreme moments I have ever experienced in my life and I got to feel it twice in one day. We were so close to reach the next step to our desire. Now that we’re dating…boyfriend and girlfriend…I don’t think I’m ready yet, but when I am, believe me Max would be the first to know. It’s just that so much is going on right know for us to move to that step, first of all we ‘just’ started dating, it’s been like what, a week? Plus, everything with Topolsky, my powers, and this new girl…Tess Harding.
The Crashdown
“What's going on, Max?” Liz asks when she sees Max standing in the rain by the front door.
“I wanna talk.” Max answers.
“About what?” Liz asked knowing well what he was referring to.
“Liz, about what Michael said before, about Tess, I just...I want you to know that I don't feel anything for her. I look at you, and I know you're the person I'm supposed to be with. I've always known it. What happened here that day, when you got shot, and how that brought us together...it's fate. Look at me.” Max pleads lifting Liz’s chin so she could look him in the eyes. “You're the one, Liz...the only one. I could never be with anyone else.” He wraps his arms around her feeling her snuggle underneath him.
Outside the Crashdown
How he hated to leave her, but it was already close to midnight and her father would kill him if he saw him there that late. He jogs back towards his car with a sense of closure radiating in him, a shine that was soon darkened when he laid eyes on Tess who was standing in the rain, almost as if she was waiting for him.
“Max!” Tess called out. “My car broke down. Can you believe it?”
“No.” Max said in a angry tone.
“No?” Tess repeated not getting the answer she expected.
“No, I don't believe it.” Max answered clarifying his suspicions towards her.
“What are you talking about?” Tess asked with a look of confusion.
“You planned this.” Max said more enraged.
“I planned what?” Tess asked backing away a little seeing how uneased Max was getting.
“To be out here. You're doing something to me.” Max stated frightened as he stared at his shaking hands, knowing something was wrong because he wanted nothing but to run back into Liz’s arms where he felt free, away from this unbearable feeling of not being in control of his own body.
“Max, my car broke down. I'm waiting for somebody to help me. I didn't plan anything.” Tess continued to press her story seeing Max was losing his patience.
“I'm with Liz.” Max declares taking a step closer to Tess.
“I know you are.” Tess answers.
“I don't want anyone but her.” Max announces taking another step.
“I'm sure you don't.” Tess replies taking the last step that filled in the gap between them. Tess brushes his cheek and suddenly Max has another flash of him and Tess in the desert holding hands. Unknowingly, Liz is watching them through the door of the restaurant.
“Who are you?” Max exclaims in confusion pushing her away as he backed up frightened he fall in a puddle as big as Lake Michigan getting completely drenched in the fall.
“Max!” Liz calls out from inside the restaurant, unlocking the door and running out in the rain to help him. “Oh, my God! Max, are you okay?” She asked frightened as she helped him up and back inside the restaurant and up into her room.
Liz’s Room
Liz closes her door and has Max lock it with his powers before leading him to the center of the room. “Max, we have to get you out of these clothes before you get pneumonia.” Liz advises as she attempts to tear away the soaking heavy jacket off of him.
“Tess…she was waiting for me. She’s doing something to me, Liz and I don’t think I can stop it.” Max said in a defeated tone as Liz stripped him of his shirt.
“We have to get you out of these clothes first, Max.” Liz repeated as she began to tackle his Cargo pants. “What do you think she’s doing to you?”
“I…I don’t know.” Max stuttered as he felt Liz lower his pants. “She touched me and I had a flash.” Max continued with shivering lips.
“You had a flash with her, Max? Like you do with me?” Liz asked with her eyes sparkling with the urge to cry but instead on of the sugar jars exploded. She lowered her head and when she looked back up at him a single tear ran down her cheek. “ I guess I'm not so special after all, huh?”
“Liz, something is going on with her. I'm telling you, something is not right about her.” Max said hugging himself to keep warm. “Please, Liz, you have to have faith in me. In us.” Liz swallows her pain when she realizes that Max’s is standing in his boxer briefs shivering uncontrollable, remembering seeing him back away from Tess, meaning he was fighting whatever it was Tess was doing to him.
“Come on.” Liz said softly taking his hand and leading him to her bed. She lifted the blankets and directed him to get underneath them. Max climbed in taking off his soaked sox and the balled up underneath the covers.
“What are you doing?” He asked as he watched Liz stripping down to her matching bra and panties.
“I have to get you warm because there is no way I’m going to watch you get sick like Michael did.” Liz firmly stated as she lifted the covers and climbed on top of Max to create body heat.
“Liz, I don’t think this is a good idea.” Max whispered, feeling the same urged he was feeling when they were in search of the orb.
"Max, the chances of you getting me in this position again...” Liz trailed of knowing that she had written about that same position and how it drove her crazy. “…Just be quiet and let me get you warm." Liz said giving him a small peck on his cheek before resting her head on his chiseled chest.
“I don’t think I can get any warmer.” Max said brushing his hand on her back, shivering every time he felt the fastener of bra. “Liz, I don’t think I can have you this close and not be able to…” Max trailed off pulling her into his star searching kisses laying her on her back. Liz was breath taken be Max’s uncontrollable urge to ravish her. She melted hearing him panting and moaning, as she was, making her feel so desirable.
“Liz?” Max and Liz’s heads both shot a look towards the door where her father was knocking,
“Max. My dad.” Liz whispered in hysteria. Liz and Max quickly rose from the bed, Max stumbled about picking up his wet clothes while Liz ran to get her robe. “Just a minute.” Liz shouted to her dad.
“Liz, what’s going on in there?” Her dad asked hearing a lot of commotion.
“Just a minute dad!” Liz repeated. “Max you don’t have to go. You can hide.” She said as Max opened her bedroom window and climbed out.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea right now.” Max said pointing with his chin towards the door, hinting her father. “I’ll see you tomorrow.” He said stealing a kiss before he ran off. Liz straightened her bed and then finally attempted to open her door but couldn’t. Then it dawned on her. Max had used his powers to close the door and now she couldn’t get out or let her dad get in.
“Dad, I can’t open the door. It’s jammed.” Liz yelled trying to unlock the door hearing her father trying as well.
“Step away from the door, Lizzie.” Her father warned hearing him slam into the door three times before breaking in the door. Liz quickly hugged her dad. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah, just shaken up a little.” Liz said really afraid that her dad might of heard Max and her moaning through the door.
Michael’s Apartment
“What are you doing here?” Michael asked not to happy to see Max at his door.
“I'm in trouble, Michael. I don't know what's happening to me.” Max said letting himself in while Michael sat down to finish eating his cereal.
“I'm not in the mood right now, Maxwell.” Michael warned swallowing a spoonful of spicy cereal.
“I almost kissed Tess.” Max confessed without beating around the bush.
“You what?” Michael exclaimed in shock.
“It was like... it was like something was controlling me.” Max attempted to explain.
“What's wrong with you?” Michael asked angry and disappointed.
“I'm telling you that it isn't me.” Max repeated more annoyed by Michael’s stubborn reaction.
“First you talk to Valenti behind my back, and now you're trying to kiss Tess behind Liz's.” Michael summarized with disgust.
“Michael, you've got to listen to me, please. You're the only one I can talk to about this. I'm telling you, there's something else going on!” Max yelled trying to get through to Michael.
“Why come to me? Why not go talk to your new buddy Valenti about it, alright?” Michael continued to press the Valenti issue.
“Would you leave it alone, already?” Max demanded, pounding his fist on Michael’s counter, irritated by Michael’s insistences. “He gave us back the orb. Maybe he isn't just out to get us.” Max suggested.
“Yeah, right. Sure. He's on our side. Why don't we just tell him everything?” Michael asked with sarcasm.
“I didn't tell him anything. Can't you understand that?” Max yelled.
“No, the thing I can't understand right now is that I used to admire you. You were solid, someone I could trust. Even more that I could trust myself. And Liz trusted you. I don't know who you are anymore, Maxwell. So, why don't you get the hell out of my house, alright?” Michael said heading to his refrigerator to get more milk.
“No Michael, listen to me.” Max said grabbing on to Michael. The two struggled, Max trying to get him to listen to him while Michael tried to get away. In the process, a tin cup falls down knocking Michael’s cooking utensils and revealing a black mini camera “Michael.” Max called out pointing to the Velcro-ed camera on the top of Michael’s fridge.
“What the hell is that?” Michael asked seeing Max rip it off the fridge exchanging confused looks a each other.
Liz’s Bedroom
“Liz, are you okay?” Maria asked seeing Liz crying outside her window. “Michael told me you wanted to talk to somebody. That you needed a friend.”
“Max almost kissed Tess.” Liz answered wiping the tears from her eyes.
“You're kidding! You're not kidding. No way, I cannot believe that. What a jerk. Liz, I'm sorry.” Maria said pulling Liz in a comforting hug.
“That’s not even like him.” Liz whimpered. “It's like everything I see with my eyes tells me that he's cheating on me. But everything I felt with my heart tells me that he's not.”
“I just knew something was up with that chick. No, but you're right. That is so not like Max.” Maria added. “So what are you going to do?” Maria asked as Liz pulled away to wipe away her tears.
“I've got to find out what going on.” Liz answered.
When Maria finally left Liz who had cried herself to sleep in confusion, she decided to go downstairs and visit Michael who was working the grill today at The Crashdown.
The Crashdown’s Kitchen
When she entered the kitchen she found Michael and Alex staring at this small screen. “What is that, like porn, or something? Ooo, I'm not as flat as I thought I was!” She said happy as she watched her chest on screen.
“It's a wide-angle lens, so...” Michael trailed off letting Maria use her imagination on what his comment would be.
“Oh. So, you guys need that for... for what?” Maria asked, going back to the subject at hand.
“We're using it to spy on Tess, alright?” Michael answered. Alex switched the camera to who ever was speaking like Geraldo or Jerry Springer would do with their microphone.
“Don't you think that's a little drastic? I'm mean we already know that Max almost kissed her.” Maria said.
“No, we think it's much more than that. We think they're FBI.” Michael informed her.
“What? What happened to partners? What happened to an even exchange of information, Michael?”
“I lied.” Michael said with a smirk.
“Well, you can't just break into someone's house and plant some camera.” Maria warned them.
“I've already staked out a position in this abandoned warehouse that's in range.” Alex added.
“No matter who you think these people are, you can't just break into their house. You've got to be smarter than that.” Maria advised.
“Well, if you're so smart, why don't you think of something?” Michael asked her. Maria pondered for a moment but then a smile stretched across her face.
“Don’t move. I’ll be right back.” Maria screamed as she bolted up the stairs to Liz’s room.
Liz's Roof
March 7th
Sometimes I wish that Grandma Claudia were still alive. Alive so I can tell her how right she was when she told in me to follow my heart. I’ve been going on a lot of faith with this ‘Max and Tess’ situation. God, I feel so nauseous to actually join their names like that. Things have been so ‘Czechoslovakian’ lately. I went to talk to Tess about Max and I can’t believe she had the nerve to blame it completely on Max when she had a box full of pictures of Max. Isabel told me how Tess told her the she was ‘bummed’ to find out that Max was taken and then she has the nerve to ask for my friendship. We ended up finding out that Tess is a Czechoslovakian too. We just don’t know what kind yet. A while back, Michael had thanked me for being in Max’s life. After what’s been happening, I feel like I should thank him for being in Max’s life. He suspected Tess from the very start but in a way so did Max, but Michael still does. He doesn’t trust her. I don’t either. She gave him a book that has all these pictures in it…that always has them together. I’m so confused.
Liz closed her journal and hid it behind the lose brick on her wall. She looked at the clock and realized it was almost time for her shift at The Crashdown.
“Liz, let’s go.” Maxedo said pulling Liz when he saw her come down the stairs.
“Max. What’s going on? I’m just about to start my shift.” Liz said pointing to the kitchen.
“This is important.” Maxedo said pulling her closer.
“Ok. Well, I guess… I guess I could leave for just a little while, let me just go tell Maria.”
“No.” Maxedo yelled yanking her back to him. “Don’t. I’m tired of reporting to everybody. It’s always been the six of us no matter what we do. This time I want it to be just me and you. We need this, Liz.”
“K.” Liz said following him out the door. Maria watched as Max dragged Liz out of the restaurant, feeling hurt because of the pregnancy situation going on between Michael and Isabel.
Michael’s Apartment
“They have Max. They have Max.” Liz woke up screaming, with the memory of Michael hugging Liz to comfort her when she found out that the FBI had taken Max instead of Nasedo.
“Liz. Liz. You were having a nightmare.” Maria tells her as she kneels on the floor in front of her, seeing Liz in a pool of sweat.
“They’re still not back?” Liz asks looking around Michael’s dark apartment from the couch she was laying on.
“I’m sure they’ve found him by now.” Maria suggests taking the damp strands of hair off her face.
“They’re probably on their way back.” Alex said sitting beside her with a glass of water.
“Yeah, I wish I could believe that one.” Liz whimpered taking a sip from the glass.
‘Bring him back to me.’ Liz remembered her asking Michael, but his words were what stuck in her head the most.
‘I will.’ If she learned anything about Michael this past year it was that Michael was a man that would do anything for Max and Isabel, but there were always repercussions to his actions. And instead of her being out there to help them she was here waiting in Michael’s apartment feebly. She needed to help Max. She could feel her bones wanting to jump out of her skin in anxiousness. She needed to call Valenti.
10-Minutes Later at Michael’s
“I’ve been up all night trying to figure out what happened at that carnival. I mean…I know what I saw. Mirrors or no mirrors, there were two Max Evans standing right in front of me. And now one of them is in the hands of Agent Pierce and the Special Unit, and I’m just hoping that it wasn’t the one that we all care about. Liz, tell me. Let me help.” Valenti pleaded as he edged the rim of his Sheriffs cowboy hat to stop the nervous chills that were running through his hands.
“You’re right Sheriff. I need your help. We all do. Your new deputy, Fisher; he isn’t a deputy, Sheriff, and his name is not Fisher. It’s Pierce – from the FBI Special Unit. He’s the one who has Max.” Liz could see Valenti’s jaw tighten. “I can’t tell you how I know, Sheriff, but Max is in a lot of trouble. I think that they all are. Sheriff, please. Will you trust me? I can tell you where he is.”
Eagle Rock Military Base
Maria, Alex and Liz waited for Valenti by the cut fence wondering anxiously what was going on. Suddenly, the loud blasts of the security alarms echoed the dark night air. The three of them then spotted Michael and Valenti both carrying Max out with Isabel and Tess following after.
“Max, are you alright?” Liz yelled concerned holding him up with Isabel as Michael hugged Maria and Valenti bolted to get his patrol car. Max just runs his hand through her hair and then gets in the Jetta.
“ I don't know about this.” Michael said looking at Max through the passenger side of Maria’s Jetta.
“I trust him.” Max answers shaky, seeing Michael look at him for a moment before running to the jeep where Maria, Tess and Alex had been waiting.
“Clothes.” Isabel says giving Max folded clothes and a pair of tennis shoes. Liz and Max drive off in the Jetta, Valenti is in his patrol car, and everyone else is in the Jeep. They come up to a street that goes three ways. Left. Right. And straight. They decide to split up and meet back at an old, silver mine in Galitas.
“Max, what did they do to you?” Liz asks petrified, seeing him in his weakened condition as he was getting dressed.
“It's over. Listen, Liz, if we ever get out of this…” Before Max could finish his sentence, the back window is shot out of the Jetta. Liz screams as they both instinctively lower their heads. Liz loses control of the Jetta, and she pulls over and takes Max’s hand and start running into the trees for cover. With a blink of an eye they are cornered by two FBI vehicles at each end of the bridge they were on. Seeing there was no other option, Liz and Max climb up onto a guardrail of the bridge, Liz looks terrified but then looks over to Max and steals a kiss from him and then they jumped off into a river. When Liz and Max swim out of the river, the start making their way down a stream where they come up to a junkyard of stripped automobiles.
“We've got to hide. Come on, in here.” Liz pleads pulling him into an overturned delivery truck and sits him on a couch as she looks out the side of the truck to see if the coast was clear. “I think we'll be safe in here for a while. They don't know how far down river we got.” When she turns to look at Max, she can’t help but break into tears. “Max.” She calls out before they kiss.
Liz gets flashes of some of the things that happened to Max while he was in the white room. “Max” She calls out again in sorrow. Max realizes that Liz has just gotten a flash of Pierce torturing him and looks down not wanting to feel her pity or her look of guilt. “Max, I’m so sorry. I have this power and I couldn’t even defend us from all this. All this is because of me. The day that you saved my life, your life just ended.” She said connecting her forehead with his.
“No, that was the day my life began.” Max corrects looking into her eyes without lifting his forehead from hers. “Liz, when I was in that room, and they did what they did to me. You're what kept me alive. The thought of you. The way your eyes look into mine.” He said brushing her cheek with his thumb bring a soft smile across her face. “Your smile. The touch of your skin.” He continues as she kisses the palm of his hand and then his fingers as he begins tracing her lips.
“Your lips.” He said before kissing her. “Knowing you has made me human. Whether I die tomorrow or fifty years from now, my destiny is the same: it's you. I want to be with you, Liz. I love you.” Max confesses.
“I love you.” Liz replies and they kiss each other’s faces. Smiling because of the sensual feeling. Liz climbs on top of him and stands on her knees to deepen their kiss. Unstoppable swallowing kisses are taken from each other, Liz connects the shoulder blades on her back as she drapes off her suede brown jacket and tosses it on the cushion couch. Max wraps her arms around her tiny waist and tries to keep up with her mind numbing kisses. Liz pulls away and takes off her green ¾ shirt leaving the tank underneath as she removed Max’s shirt.
“Liz. Are you sure you wanna do this. Here?” Max asks brushing her hair away from her face.
“Max, I almost lost you. I feel like a piece of me disappeared. I need to feel safe. I need to feel you. All of you.” Liz confesses. “Do you want to stop?” Liz questions, kissing the top of his forehead.
“Liz, I’ve been wanting you since I can remember. I just don’t want you to do something you’ll regret later or in a place you’ll regret.” Max advises.
“Max, as long as it’s with you, I have no regrets. I love you.” Liz smiles and continues to remove his clothes, letting him shed of piece of her clothes in between. Max lays her on her back and lays onto of her. He looks at her for a moment, feeling her naked body shivering just as much as he was underneath him. He brushes her hair to the sides of her face, watching her gaze at him with permission and longing. He adjusted himself between her until he felt resistance and tucks on hand under her head and the other arching her thigh. He plants a pausing kiss on her and thrusts inside her hearing her moan out in satisfaction as he tries to regain his breath from the same satisfying feeling.
“Are you okay?” Max asked concerned.
“I’m fine. Keep going.” She pleaded feeling her muscles surround his thickness.
“Let me know if you want me to stop.” He whispered in her ear as he began to rock in and out of her. Their bodies moved rhythmically causing flashes of all their emotions flash before them. Max kissed Liz’s neck a she tilted her head back. Dragging his tongue from the crook of her neck to her ear and then back down sucking in her delicious skin. Liz could feel the wetness of his mouth, the pressure his lips and tongue were making on his skin and imagined find his marks in the morning. His rock was peaceful but gratifying. His hand moved from holding up her leg to cupping her breast to resting on her flat golden tummy. Liz lifted herself pulling Max to the side so he could lie on his back, temporarily separating themselves to do so. Max watch desirably as he watched Liz climb on top of him and adjusting him back in her. Just the touch of her hand on his arousal could cause him to go over the edge, but his thought were put on hold when he watched Liz begin to rock at her own speed. He watched as her climax began to build, running his hands up and down her body, holding her hips to help guide her and held on to the small of her back as she released her stored ecstasy. She collapsed on top of him, then feeling him kiss the top of her head and reach for his jacket to cover the lower halves. He then collected all the wild strands of soft hair that scattered on her back and brushed them to the side in order to caress her bare back. “Are you okay?” Max asked brushing his hand up and down her uncovered back.
“Mmm hmm.” Liz answered and starting giving him butterfly-kisses on his chest hearing his heartbeat stabilizing.
“Liz, we can’t let anything come between us okay? We make are own destines.” Max stated looking at her for her agreement.
“I promise Max.” Liz said giving him another kiss feeling Max alternate from running his fingers through her hair to kissing her head to caressing her back. A few minutes after that, they re-dressed themselves before falling asleep in each other’s arms.
When the morning came, the sounds of screeching tires in the dirt was heard. Max and Liz ran out of the truck. A hummer appeared out of thin air behind them and began to speed up. Max then saw Valenti’s patrol car coming in front of them, stopping and Michael come out of the passenger side with his hand out. Before they knew it, a bright white light flashed from Michael’s hand and caused the hummer’s engine to explode. Max and Liz got in with Michael as Valenti took a moment, completely shocked over what he had just seen.
Inside the silver mine in Galitas
“I don't know how I did it. I don't even know what I was trying to do. It just happened.” Michael began to explain to them what he did to the hummer, everyone except Tess seemed frightened by what he was describing.
“It's just your own energy, Michael, and how you focus it. That's what Nasedo was trying to teach you.” She explained.
“So you did this in front of Valenti?” Isabel asked concerned.
“Well I couldn't let them get caught.” Michael answered.
“This changes everything.” Isabel says pacing back and forth.
“Yeah, don't you think I know that?” Michael yelled. From all people he would be the last one to actually tell Valenti about them, but ironically Valenti found out because of him.
“So what is Valenti going to do? What are we all going to do?” Alex asked trying to comfort Liz who was sitting at the foot of the stairs.
“We're going to think this through, and we're not going to panic.” Max answered trying to get everyone not to panic. He walked down the steps just catching the end of their conversation because he was talking to Valenti upstairs.
“So, you think we should trust Valenti?” Isabel asked as Max walked over to her.
“We have no choice.” Max replied.
“Yes we do.” Tess spoke walking to Max’s side. “We can go to the chamber and be safe, just the four of us. Nasedo will rescue us, and Pierce doesn't want the rest of you.” She suggested.
“Well, Nasedo isn't here.” Max snapped back moving to where Michael was standing. “And Pierce will do anything to anybody if he thinks he can get to us.” Max added completely disagreeing with her. Liz got up and walked over to Max, leaning on her arm.
“Well we sure as hell can't stay here the rest of our lives. “ Michael commented firmly.
“What do you mean? Leave Roswell for good?” Isabel asked not understanding Michael’s insinuation.
“Maybe Tess is right. If the four of us leave, maybe the rest of you could…”
“No. I'm staying with you” Maria announced as she walked to him and hugged him.
“So am I.” Alex told Isabel as he wrapped his arm around her waist.
“Yeah, we all are.” Liz said taking Max’s hand. Max kissed their joined hands and placed it over his heart. Tess just watched as the six of them paired up and couldn’t help but feel rage.
“So where do we go?” Michel asked holding on to Maria’s waist as she rested her head on his chest.
“We're not going anywhere. We're taking our lives back.” Max said sternly.
“What?” Michael questioned, not knowing if he heard right or not.
“When Pierce told me the things they had done to the other alien…” Max swallowed his fear and shaky voice feeling Liz squeeze his hand to let him know she was with him. “I'll die before I let that happen to any of you.”
“Then we have to run.” Isabel suggested.
“If we run, then he'll just keep hunting us and there's no coming back. Are you willing to never see home again? Any of you?” He asked getting a nod from everyone except Tess. “Then we have to fight.”
“Fight the most elite unit in the FBI.” Alex stated with fear and a tone of impossibility.
“Who now knows who we are and everything about us.” Isabel added.
“Pierce does know who we are. But we also know who he is, and we're stronger than he thinks. We may be even stronger than we think.” Max coached them. They settled on fighting back. Their plan was to disable Pierces men and take down Pierce alone.
The Crashdown - Across the street
“It's time.” Tess said looking at her wrist watch.
“What are you going to do?” Liz asked watching Tess close her eyes tight in consentration.
“I'm going to make them see Pierce.” Tess answered. Liz watched the agents begin talking to themselves and leave fro their assigned locations.
“You told them both at the same time to go to Hondo?” Liz asked mystified.
“Pierce told them to go to Hondo.” Tess corrected.
“Can you just do that with everyone? Make them see things that aren't even there?” Liz asked thinking to herself that maybe that was what Max was referring to when he repeated she was doing something to him.
“Sometimes it's easier to do that than to make someone see something that's right in front of her eyes.” Tess answered insinuating her comment towards Liz. Liz simply nodded and turn her head to the side to Tess see the hickey’s Max had left on her neck. Tess’s eyes focus on the reddish marks on her neck that appeared like a familiar constellation. Max, Michael, Isabel and Tess’s constellation.
UFO Center
They all regroup in the upstairs office while Michael, Max, and Valenti lured Agent Pierce to trust Valenti in order for him to come inside and get ambushed. They sit and wait as Max interrogates Pierce in the room below them. Meanwhile, Isabel dream walked him to discover where they took Nasedo’s body, seeing he was locked inside a Kansas Security Armored Truck running downstairs to tell them the information. But while Max, Michael, and Valenti were distracted discussing what to do between them, Kyle had followed Max back to the UFO Center, untied Pierce and gave him one of his fathers guns that he brought with him. When seeing they were distracted, Pierce opened fire to them, Michael, Max, and Valenti ducked the shots, Valenti returned fire but Pierce fled. As Valenti was reloading, Pierce returned but Michael outstretched his hand and used his powers on Pierce. “NO!” He screamed sending Pierce flying back into the projection screen and killing him. When Valenti picked up the gun Pierce was using he realized it was one of his and then spotted Kyle on the floor and shot.
“No. Aw, no, Kyle! Aw, geez, no! NO KYLE! Augh! Help. Help me. Somebody, help me! Augh. Save my son, please.” He pleads to Max. Everyone gathered behind him and were all shocked to see what had just happened. Max kneeled down besides Kyle and healed him.
“What the hell just happened to me?” Kyle asked taking in a breath as his father held him tightly in tears. Valenti looks up at Max who seems a bit drained and gives him a look of gratitude.
“I don't care who you are, or what you are. I'll be here for you.” Valenti swore. “I need a moment alone with my son.” He pleaded hugging Kyle again. They all comply and move away to give them their privacy.
“We have to get Nasedo.” Tess demands.
“I know where he is.” Isabel announces.
“We've got to go. Now.” Max commands. Liz squeezes his hand to acknowledge her presence. “I can't make you do this.” Max whispers.
“Max, you're not making me do anything. We choose our own destinies, remember?” She answers getting a kiss from Max before they leave to find Nasedo at the deserted airstrip. When they retrieve Nasedo’s body after knocking out two of the agents guarding him, they take off with his body and take it to the pod chambers.
The Pod Chambers
Max, Michael, Isabel, and Tess circle Nasedo and hold the healing stones in the palms as Liz is off yo yhe side watching. A glow surrounds Nasedo and he rises to find Tess happy. “I knew you wouldn't leave us.” Tess exclaimed with a smile.
“You're not ready to be left alone.” Nasedo answers.
“You're right, we need you. Show us how the orbs work.” Michael asked showing him the orbs.
“She doesn't belong here.” Nasedo says coldly pointing to Liz.
“She's with me.” Max declares. “We want to know. You're the only one who can show us.” But after bantering back and forth with him, Max determines that Nasedo has no clue on how to function it. Nasedo shape shifts into Agent Pierce and leaves the pod chamber with the order of posing as Pierce. Max picks up an orb and goes to Tess. Michael and Isabel get the other orb. “I want to know. Maybe if we just focus like Nasedo's always said.” Max suggests, closing his eyes with the others following and begin to concentrate on the orbs. Suddenly, the orbs shoot up a blue light, and a beeping sound, like a beacon, is heard. Another blue light floats into view, and transforms into a woman.
‘If you are seeing me now, it means that you are alive and well. I take this form because it will be familiar to you, and it will help you to understand what I am about to say. You have lived before. You perished in the conflict that enslaves our planet but your essence was duplicated, cloned, and mixed with human genetic materials so that you might be recreated into human beings. My son, you were the beloved leader of our people. I have sent with you your young bride. My daughter, the man you were betrothed to, and your brother's second-in-command.’
“Oh my god, Max. Our mother.” Isabel says amazed.
‘Our enemies have come to the Earth. You will know them only by the evil within. Learn enough to use your skills, your knowledge, your leadership to combat the enemy so that you can come back and free us. And that I may once again hold you both in my arms. I live for that moment. Help us. I love you.’
The holographic image disappears and the four of them look at each other astonished. “I knew this was meant to be.” Tess said with a smile holding Max’s arm.
“No.” Max states, stopping Tess by her shoulders and then looked at Liz and then walked over to her. “Look, everything I told you before is still true.” Max reassures her.
“Max, you do have a destiny.” Liz wept.
“And it’s with you.” Max said firmly and kissed her.
“Let’s go home.” He said pulling her out of the cave and walking with her with his arm around her while Michael, Isabel and Tess followed.
