A/N:Thank you for the feedback: roswellluver,Crashdown2006 and Dream_walker I love it! :D

Here is the introduction of one of the new characters in the story. :)

“I’ll Be Part 6a/Update 5/4/04”

(About 15 minutes to Max and Liz’s time)

Max was finishing the last of the things he needed to do before he was to meet up with Liz. But for some reason, his thoughts would just fly away to the events of yesterday (to when he was introduced to Liz, to be specific).

Focus, he thought while trying to get back to the things that needed his undivided attention.

Just then, there was a knock on the door. Followed by the entrance of Lana.

“Sir,…Mr. Fox is here to see you.”

Max frowned and mouthed What the hell is he doing here?

Before she could respond, a tall blonde man with sharp, handsome features entered the room. He had a cocky smile on his mouth.

Max motioned for Lana to leave them. After she closed the door quietly behind her, Max groaned.

This, unfortunately, did not go unnoticed by the blonde guy.

“Aww…Max, what’s with the sad look?” the guy asked. “I know a great surgeon who can wipe the frown right off your face. Permanently.”

Max smirked. “You mean the one that did every single part of your body? No thanks. I’d rather not be fake.”

The guy only laughed.

“What are you doing here, Jesse? Are you trying to annoy the shit out of me –coz’ you’re doing a mighty fine job…” Max said, irritated.

“Well, not really, but I guess this is an added extra.” Jesse answered.

“I want you to get right to the point of all this nonsense banter.” Max commanded, trying not to lose what little patience he had for this guy.

Jesse rolled his eyes. “You’re such a spoilsport, Max.”

“Look, I have a meeting in a few minutes. It would be fine if you would just get out of here.” Max said through gritted teeth.

“Can’t you be a little more nicer to your old colleague?”

“No, I cannot. At least not after that colleague backstabbed us in the past by stealing all our business plans and making them your own, you plagiarist.”

Jesse walked around the office, observing the interior.

“Not bad…who designed this place?” he asked holding up a vase.

Get out.” Max said firmly.

Jesse sat on one of the comfy couches. “Alright, alright. I’ll get to the point. You’ve never been one to have fun anyways.”

“What?” Max asked tiredly.

“I’ll give you an offer.”

“Don’t bother.” Max mumbled.

“I’m thinking of proposing a deal to you. What if my company and yours could be joined together in business, making it a bigger and more powerful company.” Jesse said.

Max snorted. “You are such an asshole.” he said in disgust. “After what you did to us…you still have the nerve to come up here and suggest such a thing?”

“Let the past stay as the past…” Jesse started to say but was abruptly cut off by the knock on the door.

Lana opened the door and stuck her head in. “Sir, Elizabeth Parker is here to see you.”

“Send her in.” Max said. “…And give Miss Parker a copy of our catalogue.”

Lana nodded and closed the door.

Max turned to Jesse. “I’ll tell you what I think…your ’proposal’ is a load of bull. I’ll only say this one more time. Get out or be booted out when I call security.”

Jesse scowled and stood up.

The door opened and Liz stepped into the room. Upon seeing her, Jesse smiled brightly.

“So you’re Elizabeth Parker…” Jesse said to a confused Liz.

“Yes, I am.” She answered with a small smile.

“You’re beautiful.” He said, taking Liz’s hand in his and shaking it.

“Uh-…thanks.” Liz said.

Max cleared his throat. “Liz, this is Jesse Fox and he was just leaving.” He said to Liz, putting as much emphasis on ‘leaving’ as possible.

“It was nice meeting you, Miss Parker.” Jesse said giving Liz a wink before heading out the door.

Max was immediately relieved after seeing Jesse leave. He turned his attention back to Liz and smiled.

“I’m sorry for that…” he said, trailing off as he got a better look at Liz. She was wearing a white blouse and a short black skirt. Her outfit was plain, but it fit her perfectly.

“…Jesse and our family…um,…didn’t really have the best of histories together.” Max continued, trying to pry his eyes away from Liz.

Liz nodded. “That’s alright.”

Standing up, Max led Liz to the couch that Jesse had sat on earlier, trying not to stare too much. After she was settled comfortably he went to sit on the other couch across Liz.

“Tell me something about the Café you’re about to open.” He said. “The ‘Crashdown Café’, right?”

“Yes. That’s the one.” Liz answered. “This is going to be the second one. The first one had originated in Roswell. It’s an alien-themed diner. But what I want with this L.A. branch is not too alien freaky. And not much of a diner but more of a coffee place with a touch of alien-enthusiasm.”

Max nodded in apprehension. “Okay. Do you have an idea of how you want the place advertised and what form of advertisement you are planning on using?” he asked trying to focus –on the business at hand, that is.

“Hmm…I really don’t know. I was hoping that you could give me ideas on it.” Liz replied.

“Have you had a chance to take a look at the catalogue Lana gave you?” Max asked referring to the booklet Liz was holding in her hand.

“Not yet.”

“There’s a list of other specific information in there that you’re going to have to send us so that we can have a better idea of what kind of advertisement we can recommend to be used on your business.”

Liz opened the booklet that Lana had given her earlier. At the end of the catalogue was the contact information of the company. “So I’ll just have to send the list here?”

“Yeah.” Max answered finding himself staring at her again.

“Great…and um…I’ll just have another appointment scheduled soon?” Liz asked, closing the booklet and looking up.

“Yes.” Max said looking away, not wanting to get caught.

“Great. Thanks.” She said standing up.

Max quickly regained his senses and stood up too. “Liz, can you give me your contact numbers or something?”

“Sure.” Liz said. She took out a pen and a piece of paper and wrote her cell phone number down. She later handed it to Max.

Not that I need it anyway, I can just ask Maria… he suddenly thought.

“So, I guess I’ll be seeing you…-at the next appointment, I mean.” Liz said blushing.

“I guess.” Max said, getting annoyed with himself for sounding like he was back in high school.

“Okay, goodbye…and have a nice day.” Liz said, walking to the door.

“Have a nice day.” Max said and watched as Liz walked out of his office.

He went back to his desk and sat there, thinking about what just happened and how much time he spent staring.

Which is pretty much the whole time she was here., he thought.

The sound of the telephone ringing had brought him out of his thoughts.

He put the call on speaker. “Sir, it’s a call from Ms. Deluca.”

“I’ll take the call.” He said leaning back in his chair.

This is should be interesting, he thought waiting for the call to be connected to his office.

There was a beep, followed by Maria’s voice.

“Max, is she gone yet?” she whispered.

“She’s gone.” Max answered already knowing what this conversation was going to be about.

“how did the meeting with Liz go?” she asked. Max could detect the excitement in her voice.

“It was okay.” He replied.

“Okay as in you asked her out?”

“No. Okay as in not.”

“Are you serious?!” Maria exclaimed. “Why didn’t you?”

“’Cause I just didn’t.”

“Ask her, you know you want to…”

“Maria-”

“I saw the way you looked at her yesterday! Just before I nearly passed out coz’ I was so tired, I saw it…and don’t you dare deny it!” Maria said. “Besides, I’m guessing that the reason you didn’t ask her out is that you’re just chicken!”

“I’m not.”

“You are.”

“You’re way too much like Isabel…”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah. I’ll give you her cell number…” Maria said getting impatient.

“Forget it. She already gave her cell phone number.”

“Than call her already!”

“That number’s for business purposes only.”

“When you end up as a couple, will it matter?”

Max sighed. “Fine. I will.”

“Good. Call her now.”

“What? While you’re listening?”

“Duh.”

He smiled. “Goodbye, Maria.”

“Wait. I-” Too late. Max pushed the button to disconnect the call.

Okay, time to call Liz… Max thought nervously.

(TBC-Be back soon. )

A/N: Thanks so much for the fbs. I've been busy, and it's been such a long time (a really, really long time) since I last updated. :D This is what I've got so far and I'll try to post again in a few days.

I’ll Be 6b

Liz hailed a cab and told the driver of the direction of the ‘soon-to-be-opened’ Crashdown Café. She wanted to survey the place of what was still needed to be done before the opening.

The trip wasn’t so far away, but a few minutes later, her cell phone rang.

Liz thought that Maria decided to call and check up on her. When she saw that the number wasn’t familiar to her, she was plunged into oddity.

Resolving not to wait any longer, Liz answered the call.

“Hello?” she said curiously.

“Liz?” the voice was a little familiar to her.

“Yes, this is she.”

“Max Evans.” Said the voice.

Liz’s eyes went wide with astonishment. “Max? What is it?”

“I’m really sorry for doing this…” Max started.

Liz gulped and prepared for the worst to be said.

“Is something wrong?” she asked nervously.

“No, nothing’s wrong, it’s just that…” there was a brief pause on the other end.

Liz listened on and waited for whatever it was to be said.

She could hear nervous fidgeting before Max started talking again. “It’s just that, I was wondering if you’d let me take you out sometime…”

Liz was dumbstruck. She stared straight ahead, unable to move.

“Liz…are you there?” Max asked thinking that she might have hung up on him.

He mentally kicked himself. He was mortified, thinking that maybe he shouldn’t have even attempted to ask Liz out. It was unprofessional of him to call her with the number that was only meant for business…

All the shock that had frozen Liz’s brain started to wear off. She gathered all her strength and spoke into the cell phone. “I’m okay with that.”

Max nearly dropped the phone when he heard Liz’s warm voice.

“Are you doing anything Wednesday?” he asked, unable to suppress the eagerness in his voice which amused Liz.

“I have to do a couple of things for the Crashdown but I’m free for lunch.”

And so, Max and Liz decided on when he should pick Liz up from Maria’s house. After a few more exchanges of words, they finally hung up. Liz being really excited and Max being extremely pleased with himself.

A/N: Thanks for the fbs everyone! :D I've been so busy over th months that I didn't get to post a new part (though I have been planning to, since last week)!

I'll Be Part 7

For Liz, it took an eternity and a half for Wednesday to finally knock on her door. She tried to busy herself with applications for restaurant crew, but she was just a little too excited.

When the day finally came, Maria wished her good luck before she left for work.

Liz recalled Maria saying "I'll be praying for you.". In which she replied "I hope miracles of prayer do happen."

Now ready and waiting for the time they agreed on, Liz sat on the couch and waited anxiously. She stared at the digital clock and sighed. 'Why am I so freaked?' she asked herself tapping on the chair's arm impatiently.

After another extra-long wait, the doorbell finally rang.

Liz walked slowly to it, rehearsing some useless phrases that she prepared the night before. Phrases that were, as Maria's copy of Cosmo stated were: "...flirty, but in all the right places. No-mistakes, foolproof guide to flirting the safe way. You won't regret it!"

When she saw Max, all the nonsense lines, flew from her head then and there. All she could manage was a shy "You're early."

And the same thing went on for Max. All he could do to respond was shrug.

"Come in." Liz said kicking herself for completely forgetting the Cosmo lines she wanted to try for the ultimate success.

"Where are we going?" Liz asked.

"I have no idea." Max said, a little embarrassed on account of him not being prepared. "I was hoping you had something in mind."

"Not really." Liz said. "I just want a quiet little place."

At this, Max's heart did a sudden hop. He stared at Liz motionlessly, until he saw her face light up in a little smile.

"How about I make us lunch." she beamed.

"That sounds good." Max agreed.

Liz was happy, -though she didn't know why-, that she would have the privilege of making him lunch.

She gestured for them to head to the kitchen. When they were more comfortable there in the spacious and tiled kitchen, Liz started looking through their stock to make food-from-scratch.

She gathered some bread and several bottles and jars. "Sandwiches okay with you?" she asked. Max nodded. 'Anything would be okay if it meant having them with you.' he thought and immediately blushed for both the basic 'food selection' meaning and the 'double-meaning' of such a thought.

Liz started working on the food and while going about, thought about how the conversation would be going. Luckily, she didn't have to think of those things anymore. Max's curiosity got the better of him and he started the conversation.

"How's the Crashdown going?" he asked sitting down on one of the stools.

"Its okay. I'm trying out some applicants and calling up people to do some work on the building."

"When's the opening?"

"I have no idea." Liz sighed. "I told my parent's that it would be done in a week, but it isn't that simple though. I underestimated the work time I should put on it. When they told me that the place was furnished, I didn’t expect it to contain junk that looks like it wouldn’t even last the week."

"Yeah, I know what you mean. All the little complications and stuff..."

Liz nodded in agreement and proceeded to make sandwich fillings in lightning speed. Max watched in amazement.

"You're fast." he said, observing her skill closely. Liz looked at him strangely and Max realized that what he had just said didn't have much clarity to her. "I mean- you're fast at doing those." he corrected himself and pointed to the food.

Liz smiled in comprehension. "Oh. Being an ex-waitress at the parents' version of the Crashdown does that. When there was a rush, we helped out in the kitchen too." She said as she handed him his plate of sandwich.

"How long have you been a waitress there?" Max asked in interest. He took a bite of his sandwich and marveled at how good it tasted. “Mmmm,…this is –great.” He said happily.

“Thank you.” Liz smiled. “I have been a waitress since I was born!” she answered and then laughed. "-or something close. I can't really remember much but I did that all through my high school and college years. I'll admit, sometimes I wake up and think I'm still in Roswell. I start looking for my old uniform!" she giggled.

Max laughed. “Was it a lot of fun to grow up in Roswell?” he asked.

“It was okay. But it’s not like living in the big city.” She explained. “Gosh, I sound like a country bumpkin. I should call myself the desert bumpkin!” They laughed.

“I had a very simple life in Roswell. Maybe the reason I’m so glad that I moved here is that I’ve always wanted to live a life outside New Mexico. I wanted to know what it was like to be in the hustle and bustle of a really, really, big city. I mean, as a kid I saw pictures of the world outside that entire desert. It was exciting to think of the things I was missing, and how much I wanted to experience it.” Liz admitted. “To tell you the truth, I was so jealous of Maria when she left. She was gonna be out there, finally enjoying the real world at last.” Liz sighed.

“Is it all it’s cracked up to be?” Max asked.

“I’m not sure if it could be as wonderful as I hoped it would be.” Liz replied.

“You know, I never really saw the city the way you did as a kid. I always thought that this is what it is. I was never really excited about living here that much.” Max commented.

Liz smiled. “Not many people in that town planned to get out.” She said. “Sure, they had dreams of a wonderful future, but most of the kids in our batch just wanted to stay close to home. I’d consider Maria and myself as the different kids.”

Max paused. He suddenly had the desperate urge to show Liz everything that she never really got to feel when she was still in New Mexico. He wanted to take her to a place that was crowded -even if he hated crowds, just to let her see that the crowd in Roswell would ever outnumber an L.A. crowd. He wanted her to experience the true meaning of a rush hour. Not just a packed restaurant, but a packed mall, city, office and everything. He also wanted to see the city in a new light. Through the eyes of a Liz Parker. He didn’t want to get tired of ever living in L.A.. And as he thought this, he got an idea.

“Why don’t I take you around town sometime?” he asked suddenly. Liz looked at him with interest.

“Sounds fun.” She said, nodding. “But why?”

“I want to change my perspective of an L.A. life.” Max answered. “It might help me a lot. And it would be fun to have someone you can see the city with.”

“Okay. That’s a plan.” Liz said.

They smiled at each other.

Liz then remembered something and frowned. “Oh, I forgot about something!” she muttered, frustrated.

“What?” Max asked.

“I don’t know who to hire for the Crashdown’s repairs.” She said.

“I know some people who can get the job done fast.” Max suggested. Liz was delighted. “You do?” Could you send me their number?” she asked excitedly. Max nodded. “I’ll have Lana send them to you tomorrow.” He said.

Liz grinned. “Max, thank you for everything.” She said. “You’re making my life so much easier.”

“Glad to be helping” he winked at her.

Liz felt something in he stomach at that moment. She felt giddy and excited. It’s as if there was something to Max Evans that was going to change her life. It was as if she would finally be able to see something new. And he was going to bring her to it. Liz’s smile grew wider.

They finished lunch, and unfortunately, Max had to leave for an appointment he had. Liz walked him to the door and as he was walking out, he said “That was the best lunch I’ve ever had”. Liz smiled. “Best lunch I’ve ever made.” She answered in return.

After Liz closed the front door, she quickly ran to the couch and jumped into it, screaming with glee all the way.

At last, I am back again... :D

I’ll Be Pt 8a

“Baby, I’m home!” Maria declared in a joking tone as she stepped in from the doorway. She discarded her things on the couch and was headed up the stairs to her room, when she caught the fabulous aroma of something mouth-wateringly devilish from the kitchen.

“Liz!’ she called out as she entered the kitchen. She stopped on her tracks, the moment she saw a tray of fresh-from-the-oven Shepherd’s pie, cooling off on the island’s tabletop. She was about to take a scoop of the pie, when a loud voice screamed, “Maria, stop!” followed by a hand that knocked the fork from Maria’s hand.

Maria jumped back in surprise. “Okay, okay. I got it. You don’t wanna share… Fine.” She said. Liz gave her a small smile of contentment. “This,” she gestured to the tray that Maria nearly attacked. “-is not for us. It’s for Max.” she explained matter-of-factly. Liz gestured to another tray of pie on the other side of the room. “And that, is for us.”

Maria stared at Liz, hard. “Liz, why are you giving Max pie?” Liz smiled. But she turned her head away from Maria, so the other girl wouldn’t notice just how happy she was. “He’s been so helpful with the workload for the Crashdown. I just wanted to thank him in some way.” She answered.

“Your date went well.” Maria said knowingly. Liz looked at her, and Maria saw that her smile could have electrocuted a person to death. “It was good.” Liz said. “That’s nice.” Maria commented, not really convinced that it was just good.

“Maria, I…I want to ask you to do me a favor.” Liz said anxiously. “I was hoping you could bring him the pie.”

“Why can’t you do it yourself?” Maria groaned.

“I just can’t. Not so soon. I just-…please?” Liz begged.

Maria sighed and nodded. “Why you’re being so stubborn, I don’t know.”

Liz smiled. “Since you agreed to do it, I have some goodies for you.” Maria raised an eyebrow, “Okay,” she said excitedly. “Bring on the goodies!”

Liz led her to the refrigerator. She opened the door, and Maria looked inside. She was shocked to find that there were about five varieties of baked goods that filled almost half of the refrigerator. There was cake, two kinds of cookies, cheesecake, and a dessert pie.

“Liz,” Maria said. “You must be exhausted.”

Liz nodded. “A little. But it was worth it.”

Maria was impressed with the foods as she stood back and closed the door. “Remind me to lock you up in the kitchen, the next time your date goes well.” Liz blushed. “And there’s plenty to go around.” She explained.

~!~

“You’re good, Max.” Maria commented, dropping the basket of Liz-made goodies onto his desk the very next morning.

There was a twinkle of delight in Max’s eyes as he eyed the baked goods with interest. Maria stood there waiting for him to pounce. And he did. He took the basket, and randomly grabbed the first thing that he could reach, which was a chocolate cookie.

Max took a little bite of the cookie, and immediately, his eyes involuntarily shut themselves, and he could feel them rolling to the back of his head with much pleasure. “This, -is superb.” He said quietly, savoring the full flavor of the cookie.

Maria smiled. “It’s heavenly. And I knew you’d be using some absurd word to describe that.” She said, leaning into his desk and watching his happy expression while devouring the cookie.

“It’s amazing.” He said. Amazing like Liz, was a thought that followed soon after.

He took a different kind of cookie this time. It was a mix of white and dark chocolate. He couldn’t wait to taste another one. And it was just as delectable as the first one. “I can’t believe it!” he exclaimed through a mouthful.

“We should advertise this for the Crashdown.” He continued. “It’d be something like this: Eat at the Crashdown Café. The food there, it’s like…good sex!” he said. Sex with Liz. was the thought that followed. And he almost gagged in shock of what he had just said in front of Maria. But what really surprised him was the way he thought about Liz.

But then again, he had been thinking a lot about her lately. She was just so different from any other girls. With just one lunch with her the day before, she had already evoked feelings within him that he couldn’t remember feeling for a long, long time.

Maria just laughed. “And how long has it been since you last had sex?” she asked jokingly.

Max laughed along lightly. “Has Michael tried these yet?” he asked. Maria shook her head. “He should.” Max said seriously. “This’ll make him beg Liz to cook with him.”

“I’ll bring him some. Liz made plenty.” Maria shrugged. Max’s eyes widened at the thought of a cookie paradise waiting for Maria at home. “One of these nights, I’m coming over for dinner.” He said. “Be my guest.” Maria replied as she gave Max a wave. “Gotta’ go!” she said, leaving the office.

Max sat back into his chair with glee. He couldn’t wait to see Liz again. It would sadden him for the rest of his life, if he didn’t. That was one thing that he knew for sure.
