Summary: Sequel to ”Not Afraid”. Max, Michael, Maria, and Liz are on the run from Agent Burns. Will he find them? Or will Detective Dominic Roma get to them first?

Author's Notes: This is the sequel to ”Not Afraid”. It picks up right after "Not Afraid". This was suppose to be the first sequel for me but I had writer's block on this one and started to write FBBL. I would love to hear what you guys think. Feedback. Feedback. Feedback. Got to love it. :D

<center>Chapter 1</center>

Jeep Grand Cherokee
June 15th, 2002 - 2:02 P.M.


It’s been two days since Detective Dominic Roma has been on the road in search of the brown haired muse he knew nothing about. He had begun going East since he assumed they would run as far away from Phoenix and Las Cruces as possible, going to every rest stop gas station and describing her to the attendants, getting the same response...that he was describing a hundred different girls that came in and out with that description, but none that traveled in a Chevelle.

‘Beep’

‘Beep’


Dominic looked down at his cell that was connected to the charger and saw the name ‘Wess’ light up with the blue background light the phone was equipped with. He couldn't’ take it anymore. His partner Detective David Wess has been calling non-stop since he heard of Dominic’s sudden vacation. He took in a breath and then answered the phone.

“Roma.”

‘Roma? That’s all you got to say you schmuck. Where the fuck are you?’

“On vacation.”

‘Vacation? When we’re in the middle of a murder case? What the hell’s the matter with you? It’s that chic isn’t it? She’s got you mixed up in her bullshit.’

“Your wrong Wess.”

‘Oh, am I? The FBI was just here. They took all our case files and started interrogating me over some kids from Roswell. Where the fuck is Roswell at? Do you know? Cause I sure as hell don’t.’

“Is there some point to your bitching?”

‘Yeah, what the hell’s going on? Who the hell is Liz Parker?’

“Listen, Wess. I swear to you on my badge I will explain everything to you. But I need you to keep an ear on the scanners for any info on Liz Parker. “

‘What?’

“Just do it, Wess.”

‘Alright. Alright. Call you back and you better fucking answer.’


The Chevelle

Kenya Paka. It had been two days since the four of them escaped Agent Burns inhumane radar from Phoenix, Arizona and landed in Kenya Paka, Nebraska.

“Maxwell. There’s a rest stop in about a mile.” Michael informed Max while he read the map. Max looks at Michael, who was sitting in the passenger seat beside him, nods, and continues to focus on the road while Michael struggled to refold the map to it’s original shape.

Subconsciously, he checked on Liz, who was sleeping in the back seat head-to-toe with Maria. She was unlike herself. No longer the local Liz Parker from Roswell he knew, but he could relate since he wasn't the same either...they’ll never be after the torment they endured from the hands of Agent Burns.

“She’s okay, Maxwell.” Michael assured him as he folded the last flap of the map and shoved it in the glove compartment. Michael noticed that throughout their two days on the road, Max kept a worried eye on Liz, like if she were to disappear if he blinked.

“I know.” Max answered sadly, giving one more worried glance to Liz before placing his attention back on the road, adjusting himself carefully, to avoid rubbing his back wounds against the ridges of the pleather seats.

Michael watched helplessly as his best friend suffered both physically and emotionally. Yesterday, he had suggested that Max try harder to heal his back but ended up getting chewed up by a Max he had never seen before. And Liz. Someone he has grown to care about within the years, suffered just as much as his best friend. He glanced back to look at her hugging Maria’s legs tightly and sighed not knowing how to help either one of them. Although Max had rid Liz of any scars, he could never remove the darkness around her eyes. She cried the first night in guilt. Guilt that the most precious moment Max and her had shared had been tainted by the Phoenix medical staff, with their theories of Liz being raped and Max being their prime suspect.

Michael avoids pushing Max anymore about the wounds or his worries. And worries he did have. Max’s expression may have been blank, but in the inside, nothing but worries. Worries if he was driving fast enough to get as far away from Arizona as possible. Worries if Agent Burns was following him. Worries if Isabel was okay as well as the others. Worries that he’d never see the radiant Liz Parker anymore. Worried that they’d never make it another day if the didn’t find a way to get money fast. There’s always holding up a convenient store, right? If he would have known then that that’s where he’d met the man he can honestly say he truly hates...the man that stripped Liz of her fragile glow...the man that killed him a little bit more...he’d probably do what he’s declared to do if he ever encounters him again...kill him.

“Michael, we have to find a way to make some money.” Max said sternly without looking at Michael.

“Yeah. I know.” Michael replied. Max and Michael were on there last twenty, which had to be rationed for food and gas, but once that was spent, they wouldn’t be making it as far north as they expected. It was a miracle they made it this far and they owe it all to Madame Vivian and her outrageous prices.


~~Flashback~~

“So...I, ah...I take it I have no homework, right..?” Maria asked Liz, getting a ‘no’ from her. Maria nodded in a bow and then turned to Michael who was standing beside her. “Okay. So, uh, I gotta speak to you, Space Boy. We have an appointment tomorrow.” Maria tells him as she walks into the next room. Michael gives Max and Liz a worried look and follows her while the others leave from the adjourned meeting.

“What, like at the free clinic?” Michael asked confused but bluntly as he followed her, but then stopped when she turned around quickly with an angry frown.

“You better be joking.” Maria warned him as she pointed at him with her finger.

“I am now.” Michael quickly corrects himself, seeing Maria was really serious, but could figure out why.

“You forgot, didn’t you?” Maria asked disappointed, when she noticed Michael’s puzzled expression that pieced the thought that he didn’t have the slightest idea what the hell she was talking about. “I told you about this appointment a week ago...you know...with Madame Vivian.” Maria reminded him as she talked with her hands, seeing him throw his upper body back and took it as a sign that he remembered.

“You were serious about that!” Michael exclaimed in disbelief.

“Just humor me okay?” Maria asked as she squinted her eyes in irritation.

“Ugh. Fine.” Michael said finally giving in after putting on a stomping show like a misbehaved kid.

“Oh, and don’t forget to bring a hundred dollars.” Maria reminded him as she planted a quick peck on his lips and moved to the couch and picked up the T.V. Guide.

“For what?” Michael exclaimed when he heard the outrageous amount and snatched the T.V. Guide from her hand so she could answer him.

“For Madame Vivian.” Maria answered with a puppy dog look knowing she was about to hear Michael explode.

“There better be a lap dance and drink in this reading.” Michael threatened.

“Michael.”

“Maria, you want me to waste Snapple money on an old hag and her two bit tarot card scam?” Michael questioned.

“Michael. I need to know what’s going to happen to us, okay. I need to know that every things going to be okay...and to hear that...I’ll pay anything.”

“And by ‘I’ll’, you really mean me?” Michael asked seeing Maria smile.

“See. She’s helping us already.”

~~End Flash~~

It was those very same hundred dollars he stuffed in his wallet that was their salvation in the last two days, but Max was right. The needed money and they needed it fast.


Kenya Plaza

Diner

“Where did the boys go?” Maria asked when she returned from the bathroom, not seeing Max and Michael, but their crumbled up tissue from their $1. 25 burger, which Liz barely touched. Liz had been suffering from cramps and Maria didn’t have the heart to demand she tag along to the bathroom as her bathroom buddy.

“Um, they went across the street to the gas station to check up on the car.” Liz answered as she leaned and propped the side of her face with her hand as her elbow pressed down on the booth’s table as it held up her faces weight.

“Oh, so they’re having the “car talk”?” Maria asked, quoting the words ‘car talk’ with her fingers, insinuating the talk was about something other than cars...and she was right.

“Yeah.” Liz gave a weak laugh as she sat back.

“Do you know what it is?” Maria asked curiously. It didn’t matter if Liz knew or not, eventually either one would’ve found out. Chances were that Liz would first, since Maria had to probably inject Michael with Sodium Pentothal in order to get a drop of information from him, that or nag him to death, but she entertained the idea of using the famous truth serum with chances of getting more intimate details from him that he wouldn’t normally share with her.

“Yeah. Money.” Liz answered and then looked out the large window, spotting a Currency Exchange at the center of the plaza. “Maria. I have an idea.” Liz turned and said, looking at her with an enthusiastic smile.

“What? Maria questioned and looked in the direction Liz was, noticing the Currency Exchange as well. “No. We can’t.” Maria quickly declared.

“Maria, we don’t have any other option. Max and Michael are running out of money and that means we’ll be stuck in Paka land forever, we’d be sitting ducks for the FBI.”

“Sitting ducks?” Maria repeated in amusement, never dreaming of actually hearing Liz say a cheesy saying like that.

“You know what I mean and I’ll die before Max has to go through what he did again for a third time.” Liz declared with obvious anger in her voice.

“Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. No one’s going to die Liz. I mean come on.” Maria quickly dissuaded the terrible thought.

“He would have killed us Maria.” Liz said in the most sorrowful voice that Maria had ever heard Liz use.

“Okay.” Maria gave in as she nodded her head. “What do you want to do?” Maria asked, feeling guilty for Liz’s pain. If they had only gotten to them sooner, maybe Max and Liz wouldn’t be so forthcoming with the thought of death.

“Come on.”


Currency Exchange

“Mom, yes we’re fine. Listen I can’t talk long…I need money.” Liz confessed sadly to her mother. “As much as you can give me.” Liz spoke in regret. Regret of having to ask her parents for money and not explain why. “Mom. Please. I can’t explain right now. I need you to trust me.”

“10 seconds.” Maria counted down as she kept an eye on her wrist watch. Liz’s theory was, from what she gathered from movies like "Mission Impossible", that if you keep a call for under 30 seconds it can’t be traced.

“Mom I have to go. You have the information. Please Mom. I love you. Please tell Maria and Max’s parents that we’re okay.

“3 seconds.”

“Bye.” Liz quickly said and hung up the pay phone with tears forming in her eyes. “She said yes.” Liz informed Maria, who wiped the secluded tear that ran down her cheek before pulling her into a hug.

“So what do we do now?” Maria asked as she rubbed Liz’s back.

“We wait for the transfer.” Liz answered. “What are the guys doing?” Liz asked as she moved to look out the door, seeing Michael looking under the hood while Max pumped gasoline into the tank.

“They’re gonna be there a while.” Maria assured her.

“That’s what I’m hoping for.”

15 minutes later

“Miss.” The teller from behind the glass called out. Liz moved to the window and gave the teller a weak smile. “Do you have your State ID?” The lady asked.

“Yes.” Liz answered, pulling her ID from her back pocket and handed it to the teller. Looking at her ID, Liz couldn’t help but remember the night she was kidnapped. She remembered that before Max and her made it to the group meeting at Michael’s, Liz had put her purse in the trunk of Max’s car because she was too lazy to carry it around. How lucky for here. Luck. Something they were in desperate need of.

“Okay, you need to fill out this “Received Transfer” form.” The teller informed her, sliding the form under the slot and then move to her drawer to count out the money. “Do you want large bills or small bills?”

“Um, large bills would be great.” Liz answered as she looked up from the form and then back down to continue filling out the form and then signing the bottom of the form.

“Okay.” The teller announced when she came back with a wad of money, Liz’s eyes widened and then looked to Maria who moved beside her, bored of being look out, and gave Liz the same shocked expression. “Okay, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. A thousand.” The teller said as she laid out ten hundreds. “1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. Two thousand.” The teller announced as she laid another ten hundred dollar bills over the first ten. “And…1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. Three thousand.” The teller finished as she scooped up the money and recounted it while Liz grabbed Maria’s hand and gave it a tight squeeze of relief.

“Here you go.” Liz said slipping the form back under the slot.

“Here ‘you’ go.” The teller repeated and slipped the money in the slot. Liz’s tiny hands gathered the money in her hand and struggled to fold the thick wad, turning away from the glass to head out the door. “Excuse me, Miss.” The teller called out.

“Yes.” Liz answered looking back in the window.

“There’s still more.” The teller announced. Liz shot Maria a quizzical look and then looked to the teller who was pulling out an even thicker stack and ran it through the bill counter.

“Exactly how much did my parents send me?” Liz asked curiously as she watched the lady place a bundle of twenties through the machine that gave here the same amount as before, 150 twenties. Liz calculated it quickly in her head…$3000.00!

“Mr. Jefferson Parker sent $3000.oo.” The teller announced, reading off the transfer invoice. “And a Mr. Phillip Evans sent another three and a Ms. Amy DeLuca sent $1, 646. 33.” The teller read off. “New car?”

“Uh, road trip.” Liz quickly answered. “It’s a graduation present.”

“Lucky you.” The teller said bitterly and then handed Liz the rest of the money. “Okay, total amount sent was $7,646.33. Deduct $15 for each transfer and another $12 for the telegram.” The teller calculated as she punched in the numbers on her adding machine and ripped of the receipt and stamping it with the stores information and handed Liz an envelope with the word “telegram” stamped on as well. “And your total is $7,589.33. Here’s your ID, receipt and telegram.”

“Uh, thank you.” Liz said taking everything and moved to the side to adjust herself. “Maria can you believe it?” Liz whispered with glee.

“We’re rich Chica.”Maria answered and then took then money and shoved it in her bag. “Come on. There was a clothing store next door. If we’re going north we have to have a coat.” Maria declared as she pulled Liz away.

“Have fun.” The teller called out as they left and then looked bitterly at the door. “Lucky bitches.”


Jeep Grand Cherokee

‘Beep’

‘Beep’


Dominic looked at his cell phone and saw ‘Wess’ again and picked up the phone quickly.

“Roma.”

‘Kay’ the father just transferred money to her in Kenya Paka, Nebraska if you can fucking believe it.’

“Nebraska?” Dominic repeated , spinning the steering wheel to turn his jeep to start heading north.

‘They must have been driving all night and day to get that far. They’re a few miles away from South Dakota border.’

“Right give me the address.”


Das Model

“Almost ready, Maria?” Liz asked as she tapped on the dressing room door.

“Almost.” Maria answered and then came out sporting her new coat. “You like?” Maria questioned in a Russian accent as she modeled the coat to her.

“Me likes.” Liz giggled.

“Okay, so, let’s buy then.” Maria said pulling Liz to the cash register.


Phoenix, Arizona

“Agent Burns? We got a lead.”

“Where?” Burns question with eagerness.

“Kenya Paka, Nebraska.”

“Get the car.” Burns ordered.

“Sir, we can get there faster with the chopper.”

“Not if we’re searching free-lance. If that kid is what I think he is…we could make millions.”

“And if he’s not?”

“We could break him to pieces.”


Diner Bathroom

“Maria, you can’t be serious.” Liz exclaimed as Maria stuffed her bra with a few stacks of cash.

“Oh, Liz, relax. What better way to tell you’re babe that you disobeyed his orders then flashing him with a rack full of cash?” Maria stated and handed Liz money.

“I am not doing that.” Liz declared shaking her head and looking at the money in disgust.


Gas Station

“I can’t believe I’m doing this.” Liz spoke in disbelief as Maria pulled her the entire way.

“What have you two been up to?” Michael asked curiously as he slammed the hood of the car shut.

“Nothing lover.” Maria said coyly.

“What do you want?” Michael questioned her motives skeptically.

“Ah, come on Space Boy.” Maria said with a baby pout. “All I wanted was for you to unzip me.” Maria said giving Michael a puppy dog look.

“Unzip you? Where’d you get the jacket?” Michael questioned and then noticed the both came with a big shopping bag.

“Way to kill the mood, Genius.” Maria yelled in an aggravated tone. “Now just shut up and unzip me damn it!” Maria ordered. Michael unzipped Maria’s furry hooded coat and his jaw dropped when he saw the hundred dollar bills sticking out of her bra. Max curiously wanted to see what would shock Michael that bad and leaned over a bit.

“Hey, Moon Doggie. Eyes on your own prize.” Maria advised as she closed her coat. “You might want to open it. I had a premonition that you might be a winner.” Maria teased.

Max looked at Maria confused and then looked to Liz who was leaning on the car. Liz flashed him an embarrassed smile and then tucked her hands behind her. Max moved in front of her and then started to unbutton her Pea-coat, and revealed the bills she too had sticking out from her bra. Michael leaned over to see if she had the same “prize” that Maria had but winded up getting smacked in the stomach by Maria’s arm.

“Ouch.” Michael yelled. “I just wanted to see if he got the same prize.” Michael explained and followed her in the car.

“Where did you guys get all that money?” Max asked stunned.

“From our parent’s.” Liz said handing him the un-opened telegram.

Sorry I was dragging on the updates. I have been suffering with writer's block but now I'm ok. Lizard_Queen and Icequeen have been helping me break my block...THANKS GUYS. :P So, I'll be going into my normal updating routine now so don't worry. 8)

News for you Candy fans. When I was suffering from my writer's block. I was making a sig banner for LovinGuerin2Much, my first by the way :D. Anyways, back to my point, I was washing dishes and then BAM! I thought of this idea for a Michael and Maria fic. I can't get it out of my head, so I've been brainstorming and writing a huge outline on it. So I'm thinking about writing it. But not sure. Maybe. :wink:

Thank you for pointing this out. I fixed it already. They are in Kenya Paka, Nebraska and they're near South Dakota. Sorry about that.

Welcome back. Burns only suspect Michael is the alien, but Burns never got to see Michael's face in the video, he only got to see him breaking in and then the doctor turned off the tape. That's why he's after Max, because he figures since Michael broke in to rescue Max, Max knows who he is and if he gets Max he get's Michael.

Chapter 2

Gas Station

Telegram:

Max, we hope that you are okay. I have unlimited faith in you and Michael that you will keep those girls safe. We hope that the amount we sent you is efficient. Amy sends her prayers and hopes for Maria and Michael, as well as for you and Liz. The Parkers are taking a bit longer to tame, but I swear to you I will try. Please, be safe. We love you son.


“Do you guys have any idea what you did?” Michael question in fear and anger as he paced back and forth by the side of the car.

“We got money. We needed it.” Maria answered, trying to justify Liz’s actions.

“Yeah, but now the FBI have something to follow us on.” Michael replied rougher while pointing down to the ground as he spoke.

“He’s right.” Max added in a mild tone, avoiding looking at Liz directly when he noticed her head snap up and then look back down in shame, when he agreed with Michael.

“I-I’m sorry.” Liz stuttered sadly thinking the worst of herself for disappointing Max.

“Whoa. Wait a minute. Hold on.” Maria declared as she waved her hands, pointing # 1 to them. “If we didn’t ask for this money, we’d be stranded in bumble-fuck with toothless Uncle Joe. So be thankful. At least we have money to get us where we’re going a lot faster than where we’d have gotten without it.”

Just then, a mechanic walked at an angle, along side of them, but eyed Max and Michael in particular and then Liz and Maria. The four of the exchange looks, wondering if he had recognized them, assuming there were “wanted” posters of them like in the movies.

“Michael. Start the car.” Max ordered cautiously as he watched the mechanic glance one more time in their direction before entering the open garage.

Max quickly walked to the back of the car, taking Maria and Liz’s shopping bags and opened the trunk, tossing them inside and using that as a diversion, while he waved his hand over the license plates to change the letters and numbers in descending order. Max then slammed the trunk shut and then noticed someone across the street. “Burns? He thought out loud, getting Michael’s attention when he said the name “Burns” and then looked at the man who was standing in a black suit and then looked back at Max.

“Get in!” Michael ordered as he released the brakes. Max hopped in the passenger side and held on to the corner of the Chevelle’s windshield as Michael high tailed out of the gas station.

“What’s going on?” Maria asked frightened as she held Liz, who was scared as well, tightly, sliding in unison to the side when Michael made a quick U-turn out of the gas station parking lot.

“Was it him?” Michael asked with adrenaline as he watched the rear view mirror.

“I don’t know. Maybe.” Max answered confused as he shook his head and then looked behind him to see if they were being followed. He had been seeing Agent Burns face in anyone that approached him. Women, men, and even children.

“Michael, look out!” Maria yelled, just as Michael glance back at the rear view mirror, he passed the red light and ended up getting T-rammed by a pick-up truck. The four of them were forced to slam to the side from the impact, consequences of not wearing their seat belts, and froze in pain as the Chevelle’s brakes sparked when Michael stomped on them.

‘Oh my God!’

‘Are they okay?’

‘Someone call for help!’


Faint ramblings of the concerned and curious on-lookers when the witnessed the accident. “Are you kids alright?” The man driving the pick-up asked as her scurried out of his truck to check on them.

“Uh.” Michael huffed as he rubbed his head. He looked around disoriented to see they were in the middle of the intersection and a huddle of complete strangers hoovering over them and asking if they were okay. Michael snapped out of his trans and quickly looked over to Max, who was holding on to the side of his head and then back at Maria and Liz, who appeared to be alright but a little shaken up. “You guys okay?” He asked full of anxiety.

“Yeah. We’re okay.” Maria said weakly as Liz nodded ‘yes’.

“Max?” Liz called out not hearing him answer.

“I’m okay.” Max responded, relieved to hear her being okay, but his relief was erased when he heard the sirens of an ambulance and of a police officer on his speaker, asking that everyone move back .

‘Folks, you all need to move back and let the paramedics do there work. Please move to the curb.’

“We’re screwed.” Michael panicked.

“No we’re not. Just act normal.” Max whispered to him.

“Yeah, I can tell you where that can be a problem.” Michael answered sarcastically when he saw the officer walking towards them.

“Relax.” Max warned seeing Michael in a nervous wreck as the officer got closer.

“You kids, alright?” The officer asked, scanning the inside of the car in case it was more than a simple car accident.

“Just trying to swallow our hearts back into chest, Officer.” Maria answered, trying to charm him with her wits.

“Yeah, I bet. You kids let these guys look over you, while I start writing a report.” The officer advised, pointing to the paramedics the approached them and proceeded to ask the driver of the pick-up questions. The four of them were separated, Maria and Liz together, to be examined to make sure they weren’t hurt, but Maria and Liz denied the assistance remembering they were stuffed with cash and waited on the sidewalk for Max and Michael.

Max assured the paramedic he was fine as he watched the officer approach Michael with a little black device in his hand.

“Do me a favor son and blow into this.” The officer asked, holding up breath-a-lizer to determine if Michael was intoxicated or not.

“I’m not drunk.” Michael informed him with a small chuckle of disbelief, but complied with the demands of the officer and blew into the tube that was attached to it.

“That your not.” The officer nodded when the breath-a-lizer calculations came out to ‘0.0’ “So what happened here?” The officer questioned as he flipped his note pad over to a clean sheet.

“Just a case of being stupid.” Michael answered. “We’ve been driving for a while so I guess I wasn’t paying attention.”

“Well, at least you’re honest.” The officer stated as he wrote down Michael’s statement. “Can I get your driver’s license?” He asked without looking up off his notepad.

“Sure.” Michael answered, pulling out his driver’s license. “Here you go.”

“So where are you kids headed?” The officer asked when he took his license and began writing down his information.

“Road trip. You know seeing the sights. It’s a present from they’re parents for graduating.” Michael answered, looking over to Max confused when he saw him edging his way to the police car.

“What about you’re parents?” The officer asked as looked up at him.

“I-I’m an orphan.” Michael answered dispirited, looking down at his shoes as he shoved his hands in his pockets.

“Sorry to here that.” The officer answered out of courtesy and then flapped Michael’s license. “I’ll be right back.” He announced and walked away to his car. Michael looked around worriedly for Max and then noticed him by Liz and Maria and headed in their direction.

“What did you do?” Michael questioned in nervousness.

“What do you think he’s doing now?” Max asked as he wrapped his arm around Liz. “He’s going to go run your license.”

“I know the routine.” Michael answered, too use to the police/adolescent routine he endured countless times in Roswell, this being his second time he gets it because of him driving. The first being when he tried to get to the geodesic dome in Marathon, but wiggling out of it by Maria telling the officer she had to pee urgently. “So what did you do?” Michael asked, getting back to the subject at hand.

“I took care of it.” Max answered plainly. “What did he ask you?”

“Where we were going. I told him road trip for graduation.”

“Good thinking.” Max commented and got a proud have smile from Michael.

“Max. Michael.” Maria called out and pointed. “Look.” She said wide-eyed. When they all looked in the direction she was pointing, they see the Chevelle being towed.

“What the?” Michael questioned as he and Max went to find out what happened.

“Excuse me officer. Where are they taking my car?” Max asked calmly, not trying to present himself as if they were in a rush.

“Oh, the front axle is broken. It’s undrivable right now, so they’ll take it to the garage on Walkman and Castle. It’ll take about an hour from what the driver told me…you do have insurance don’t you?” The officer questioned skeptically.

“Yes, I do.”

“Great. Now the only thing you have to worry about is your insurance going up.” The Officer said with an amused chuckle, only getting a forced smile and nod from Max, who was thinking his worries were more than that. “Oh, here ya go son. The computers in the fix. I remember in the good old days when you didn’t have to have a degree in computers to be a cop.”The officer huffed while Max flashed a smugged look over to Michael. “I’ll just get your information by hand. Can I get yours son?” He asked Max. Max nodded and complied, and then watched the officer head over to Maria and Liz, who were clasping tightly to their coats to hide the money they were covering.

“What are we going to do Maxwell?” Michael asked concerned, seeing their stay in Kenya Paka, Nebraska is going to be longer than what they wanted.

“Find a place to hide out for now. The cop said an hour, right?” Max asked and got a nod from Michael. “So we find a place, a crowded place, and then get the car.” Max planned.

‘Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha.’

“What the hell?” Michael questioned confused, looking at Max who shared the same quizzical look, when he heard Liz and Maria laughing along with the cop as they were talking to the cop and then moved to their direction.

“Oh, hey guys. Just telling Peter here about that customer who thinks he’s Zinplox.” Maria said releasing the last wind of her laugh.

“The nut that thinks he’s from the planet Zendagon and paints himself silver?” Michael questioned.

“Oh, you never said he painted himself silver Maria.” The cop laughed. Michael and Max exchanged looks when they realized that the two of them were on first name basis.

“Oh yeah, totally forgot.” Maria laughed even more.

“The axle’s broken on the Chevelle, we have to find a place to hang out til’ then.” Michael announced trying to hold back his aggravation, making a parked car’s alarm go off.

“There’s the plaza a block back.” The cop suggested.

“Yeah, we already came from there.” Liz informed him.

“Um, maybe the Super Mall? We just got a new level. “ The officer notified them proudly.

“A mall!” Maria repeated with a glow in her eye. “Where?”

“About six blocks east on this street. You can’t miss it. I can give you kids a lift if you want?” The officer suggested.

“N…”

“That’ll be great.” Maria answered before Michael could and followed behind the officer, giving Michael a ‘come on’ look.

“Come on.” Liz said with a giggle, lacing her fingers with Max’s and pulled him to follow.

“She’s sitting in the back.” Michael announced and followed behind them.



Outside Kenya Paka Super Mall

“Thanks a lot, Peter.” Maria thanked as she leaned in the mirror, while the others waited in the curb.

“No problem. You kids be careful now.” He advised and pulled away. Maria waved good by and turned around to see Michael with his arms crossed and Max and Liz smiling.

“What?” Maria asked holding out her hands.

“Did you get a number?” Michael questioned.

“What?” Maria laughed at his obvious jealousy. “Michael, I was being nice. Peter…I mean Officer Thompson’s sister happened to be a waitress, so we were just talking about work, that’s all.” Maria assured him. “Liz tell him.”

“Uh, it’s true.” Liz said nodding her head trying to hold back here laugh.

“Let’s just go inside.” Maria suggested and pushed Michael to move.



Back at the Accident
30 minutes later


“Excuse me, Officer?”

“Yeah?” The man answered and noticed the man flip his badge quickly and then flip it back just as quick.

“Heard some kids were involved in this accident.”

“Yeah. That’s all it was though. I was just reporting to the *TAI.” (*Traffic Accident Investigators)

“Do you know where the kids are now?”

“Yeah, they headed to the Super Mall while they waited for their car to come out of the shop. Why?”

“No I was wondering. Thanks a lot.”

“Yeah, no problem.”

I was going to post last night, but it started to rain really bad here and the power went out. I really miss Chicago. It rains a lot here. :cry:

Chapter 3


Kenya Paka Super Mall


“This mall sucks.” Michael snorts as he and Max follow behind Mari and Liz who are arm-and-arm a few feet ahead of them.

“How much time do we got?” Max questioned, pointing to Michael’s silver wrist watch with his chin.

“10 minutes.” Michael calculated. “Hey. Maria. 10 minutes.” He informed her as he tapped on the face of his watch, and then swirled his finger to signal to her to speed it up.

“Can we get a slurpee?” Maria question with enthusiasm. "Please, oh, please, oh, please?"

“We just came from the frickin’ food court!” Michael exclaimed with his thumb pointing in the direction of the food court.

“I know. But I gotta pee too.” Maria whined as she pouted.

“Maria. You’re pushing it.” Michael warned and then looked from Maria to the passage that led to the food court and then back to Maria. “Hurry up.” Michael ordered, giving into Maria’s full lipped pout.

“Yay.” Maria clapped as she jumped up and down and then pulled Liz who looked back at Max with a smile before running off with Maria.

“You could’ve said ‘no’.” Max pointed out as he laughed at Michael’s gullibility when it came to Maria.

“With Maria, there’s no such thing as ‘no’…unless it’s her that’s saying it.” Michael answered in annoyance and then walked along side Max at a steady pace as the walked to the food court.



Food Court Bathroom

“You okay, Gidget?” Maria questioned from the bathroom stall she was in.

“Yeah. I’m fine.” Liz replied and returned to look at her pale expression in the mirror, thinking she looked sick. Dark rings were around her eyes and her hair was flat. Horrible was the right word. She thought to herself how could Max be hugging and kissing her if she looked like shit run over twice.

Liz snapped out of her trans when she heard the toilet flush and the latch of the lock adjusting, followed by the squeak of the stall door opening and Maria standing beside her on the next sink to wash her hands.

“You just seem quiet.” Maria diagnosis and then moves to the roll of rough paper towel to rip her a piece and dry her hands.

“Just not feeling good.” Liz answers and then looks at herself in disappointment.

“What? What is it?” Maria questioned with concern when she picked up on Liz’s disgusted expression.

“Look at me. I’m…”

“Beautiful.”

“A mess.” Liz corrects sadly. She knew Maria was just being nice, but she didn’t need nice right now, she needed a shoulder to cry on.

“Hey, we all do. You can’t expect to be dragged through hell, sleep in a Chevelle, and come out looking like Angelina Jolie, babe. It’s just not possible.” Maria stated, attempting to console her depressed friend. “Come on. Splash some water on your face.” Maria suggested as she held up Liz’s long hair, so Liz could splash cold water on her face. “Now when we meet back with Moon Doggie and Space Boy, you’re going to go up to Max and you are gonna tell him that you are in desperate need to be sweated.”

“Maria. I can’t just go over there and ask Max to sweat me. It’s…I don’t know…weird.”

“Why? I tell Michael to sweat me all the time and he does. He tells me I’m beautiful. Rubs my back. Everything you need right now, so none of this I’m embarrassed to ask bologna, you ask or I will.” Maria threatens with good intentions and then hands Liz a piece of paper towel to patted her face dry and then held the bathroom door open. “Come on. Let’s get you some R&R.”

Liz smiles and goes out first, but as soon as she passes the mens room, rough hands cover her mouth and waist and pull her inside. “Liz!” Maria yells and is pulled in as well.



Men’s Bathroom


“Dominic?” Liz question with surprise.

“Hey, what’s your damage?” Maria yells as she adjust herself.

“Sorry. Couldn’t afford the security cameras to see us talking together.” Roma answers and then eyes both girls to make sure they’re okay.

“How did you find us?” Liz asked still stunned by his presence.

“The wire transfer.” He answers and sees Maria and Liz exchange worried looks.

“No I meant how did you know we were here.” Liz question.

“Does it matter? What matters is if I could find you and I’m just a cop, that means the FBI can find you and get to you even quicker.” Dominic warned her.

“Oh, my God.” Liz gasped, regretting ever going against Max’s orders. “He found us. It’s all my fault. It’s all my fault.”

“No. No. Liz. It isn’t.” Maria tried to calm her down as she pulled her into a hug.

“Maria. Max and me can’t go back.” Liz shook her head in despair as tears spilled from her eyes. Going back was the last thing she ever wanted, let alone for Max to return for her carelessness.

“Liz. I promise you, you won’t go back.” Maria answered and hugged Liz tighter.

“Look. We don’t have enough time.” Dominic interrupted.

“Why are you helping us?” Liz questioned.

“When I saw you…in the alley…I never seen anything like that in my life. And to know that the FBI has something to do with it…” Dominic shook his head and then looked back at Liz. “They took your test results.” He informed her.

“No.” Liz whispered and shook her head in disbelief, holding her stomach to prevent from throwing up.

“Liz? Liz? Listen to me!” Dominic shouted, getting Liz’s attention. “I can help you. But if you stay here, they’re going to find you.”

“What do we have to do?” Maria asked.

“I need you to go buy walkie talkies.” Dominic tells Maria, very sternly so she could understand he was serious.

“Walkie talkies?” Maria repeated confused.

“Yes. When you get in your car, drive North to Tripp, South Dakota. Keep heading North and get on the 90 in Chamberlain.”

“Wait. Wait.” Maria exclaimed, unable to remember the directions off hand, so she dug in her bag and pulled out her liquid eye liner and the telegram Max’s father sent and began jotting it down. “Okay. North, Tripp, and 90 Chamberlain. Got it. What else?”

“Head East on the 90 and merge on the 29 and head North up to Sisseton.” Just then, a mallrat opened the door and was caught off guard to see both sexes in the mens bathroom, but just stared at them. “Uh, are you blind?” Dominic questioned aggravated and flashed his badge. “The sign says “out of order”.” But even though Dominic pointed it out, the mallrat kept staring. “Get the fuck out!” Dominic commanded bluntly and watch the mallrat scramble off.

“Whoa. Power high, huh?” Maria commented impressed.

“You know it.” Dominic answered with a smug smile. “Now, where did I leave off?”

“Sisseton.” Liz reminded.

“Right. Get off at Sisseton and head East to a little town in Traverse County, Minnesota called Woodsburn. My grandfathers cabin is up there. But you have to hurry. I’ll follow you there. Where’s your car?” Dominic questioned.

“It’s in the shop, we have to get it in a few minutes.” Liz answered, feeling a since of hope with Dominics help.

“There’s a car wash about 5 minutes away from here. Pull in the lot and I’ll drive up to you. Do you remember what my car looks like?” Dominic asked and got a nod from Liz. “Okay, so I’ll drive up, throw one walkie talkie in my passenger side window so we can communicate on the way, okay?”

“Yes.”

“Alright go.” He pushed them out of the bathroom. "What are you doing Roma?" Dominic asked himself as he looked at his reflection. Then he heard the door open and saw Liz peeking in the door. "What happened?"

"Thank you." Liz spoke with desparation and relief.

"Your Welcome." Dominic replied and saw a faint smile escape her face before she ran off.


Food Court

“What took you guys so long?” Michael questioned when he saw the two of them approaching.

“We have to go.” Liz informed them.

“Like right now.” Maria added.

Chapter 4

Kenya Paka Super Mall

Food Court

“What took you guys so long?” Michael questioned when he saw the two of them approaching.

“We have to go.” Liz informed them.

“Like right now.” Maria added.

“What? You just made a whole frickin’ scene for a frickin’ slurpee.”

“Yeah, and now we have to go Radio Shack.” Maria answered sternly and pulled Michael from his shirt to follow her.

“Radio Shack? What the....”


Outside the Mall


“Maria, what the hell is going on? And why do we just buy walkie talkies from Radio Shack?” Michael questioned as Maria and Liz pulled both him and Max out of the mall and to the curb.

“Burns knows we’re here.” Liz answers, looking to Michael and then mustering the courage to look at Max, who was looking at her very confused.

“What?” Michael exclaimed stunned by the news.

“Did you get a flash?” Max questioned.

“No.”

“That cop from Phoenix told us.” Maria answered and then spotted a cab, jammed some fingers in her mouth and whistled loud. “Yo!” She yelled waving, getting the cab to pull over.

“How?” Michael questioned.

“Get in the cab. Well, tell you when we get the car.” Maria promised and then opened the back door of the cab, so the four of the crammed in the back and headed for the mechanics.


Garage on Walkman and Castle

“Cars all fixed. Here ya go!” The mechanic announced handing Max the customer copy of the invoice and his car keys.

“Thanks.”

“I’ve never seen a Cheve....”

“Yeah. Yeah. That’s nice Ted. But we’re in a hurry.” Maria said rudely and pulled Max away to the Chevelle where Michael and Liz were waiting. “Let’s go.”

“My names not Ted” The mechanic corrects Maria’s assumption faintly in the background.

“Where exactly are we going?” Max questioned while sitting in the drivers seat, starting up the car, and then turned slightly to look at Liz who was sitting in the passenger seat beside him.

“Dominic was at the mall.” Liz confessed.

“He what?” Michael exclaimed. Maria yanked him to sit back and signaled him to be quiet and listen to Liz’s explanation.

“He said he could help us.” Liz added.

“Yeah. Turning us in. Real help.” Michael snorted.

“No. Michael. He’s a good guy. He said we can go to his cabin.” Liz tried to defend.

“Yeah, tell me that doesn’t sound like a trap.” Michael huffed crossing his arms.

“He’s waiting for us at the car wash by the mall.” Liz notified them and watching Max and Michael throw a look at each other.

“We can’t go.” Michael stated firmly.

“What? Why?” Maria questioned.

“Because it could be a trap, Maria. That’s why.” Michael answered.

“We don’t know that.” Liz defended.

“Yeah, well, I’m not risking anyone of us getting caught again.” Michael declared looking away as if that were the final word in the discussion.

“Michael’s right.” Max added softly, faintly looking at Liz.

“We vote.” Maria suggested.

“Vote? There’s only four of us.” Michael pointed out. “We already said we’re not going. And that’s it.”

“Look, the way I see it, he could have turned us in at Phoenix. But he didn’t. He didn’t have to come all the way over here and warn us, but he did. And if he really was here to turn us in, he would have done it when he got us in the bathroom and the two of you would’ve never even known, but he didn’t. I say we go. We can’t run all our lives.” Liz proclaimed and then looked back and forth to see what Michael and Max’s reactions.

“You said it yourself Liz. He does all that when he doesn’t have to. Why?” Michael questioned. “He didn’t snatch the two of you, I don’t know why, maybe his deal with Burn is to get the four us.”

“Tell him Liz.” Maria spoke.

“Tell us what?” Max asked, looking up from the steering wheel.

“He told me the FBI have my tests from the hospital.” Liz informed them and looked up at Max to see he knew exactly what she concluded with that information. That they’d know Max was different and they’ll be coming for him even more.

“If we go...” Max started to speak as he twisted his grip on the wheel. “...then we put ourselves out there...at risk.”

“I know.” Liz answers shaky.

“Maxwell, you can’t be seriously thinking about going?” Michael exclaimed in disbelief.

“Where are we going to go Michael? Just look at me.” Max expressed, pointing out how powerless he appeared as well as how he felt. “We check it out. If it looks okay then we follow his plan. If it doesn’t we go our own way.” Max declares and looks at all of them to make sure the understand the plan, and then shifted the gears into drive and headed to the car wash.


Car Wash

“It looks clear.” Max whispers to Michael from behind a parked car.

“Yeah, and it looks like a trap too.” Michael sneers.

“Look, it’ll be like having Valenti around again. He can tell us Burns’ moves and that way we’d be a step ahead.” Max explained his motives for following Dominic’s plan and then spotted Dominic's Jeep Grand Cherokee.

“What was all that about Liz’s tests? What tests?” Michael questioned with confusion.

“I’ll tell you later.” Max assured him and then pointed with his chin for Michael to look ahead of them. “There he is. Let’s go.”


The Chevelle

“For the record, I think this plan bites the big one.” Michael announced as he drove to the Car Wash.

“Michael, that’s all your record says.” Maria snorts as she rolls her eyes and looks out the passenger side.

Michael passed Dominic’s jeep, watched Max toss the walkie talkie in his passenger side window and then drove off in the direction of Tripp, South Dakota.


2 ½ Hours Later


‘Okay, the 90’s coming up. Get on and head east to Chamberlain.’

“Okay. We see it.” Max replies on the walkie talkie after hearing the static, which signified Roma was done talking.

Michael glanced frequently at the rear view mirror to see Dominic a few cars behind, and scanned around to make sure he didn’t see any government-like cars near by.

‘Hey?’

“Yeah?” Max answered.

‘I was just wondering...when I saw Liz...what happened to all her bruises?’

Michael shot a worried look to Max from the rear view mirror and watched Liz pull the walkie talkie, still in Max’s hand, and answered.

“Make up. It covers more than hickeys.” Liz answered with a nervous giggle.

'So I see. Alright. I’ll talk to you when we get to near the 29.’

“Okay.” Liz answered in relief he bought her story and then moved back to her seat.

“Good thinking.” Max praised as he shoved the walkie talkie between them, unknowingly pushing the transmitting button so Dominic could hear.


Jeep Grand Cherokee

‘Booop.’

‘Good thinking.’


Dominic looked down at the walkie talkie, that was tossed on the passenger seat when he heard Max speak and then picked it up and pushed down the transmission button.

“Hello? Did you say something?” Dominic question and released the button, not hearing the expected static and assumed they probably had something pressed up against the button. Remembering that happened to him once when he was a Rookie. He tossed the walkie talkie back beside him and focused on the road until he heard them speak again.


The Chevelle

“You okay?” Liz asked as she rested her hand over Max’s.

“Not really.” Max answered truthfully and then pulled her to lay on him. “How bout’ you?” He asked and shook her head ‘no’ sadly as she laced her fingers with Max getting a premonition of Max lacing his fingers with her as they made love in a place she didn’t recognize and then saw herself moan in pleasure.

“Uh.” Liz gasped as she quickly sat up.

“What? What is it?” Michael question, hearing the commotion in the back.

“Uh, nothing. Nothing.” Liz shook her head quickly and then scooted closer to Max to face him.

“Are you sure you’re okay?” Max questioned as he tucked her hair behind her ears. “Did you have a premonition?”

“Yeah.” Liz answered with an embarrassed smile as she bit her lower lip.

“What was it?” Max asked with smiling curiosity when he noticed Liz blushing.

“It was...me and you...making love.” Liz confessed without looking at him. Max arched his eyebrow with intrigue and then lifted her chin to make eye contact with her.

“What exactly did you see?” Max questioned with a weak smirk.

“Um...” Liz hummed when she looked cautiously to Michael to see he was busy watching the road to pay attention and Maria was sleeping with her head on his lap and her body curled up in the passenger side. “I saw you, holding my hand while we...uh, and me liking it a lot.” Liz confessed as her cheeks turned bright red and then felt Max kiss her lips lightly for comfort.

“I’m starting to like your new power.” Max laughed lightly.

“Yeah, I’ll bet.” Liz answered as she rolled her eyes playfully and felt Max kiss her forehead.

“Do you mind if I see it?” Max questioned innocently.

“But only the flash.” Liz warned. “No browsing through my mind and telling me embarrassing moments like last time. If I had that power, I’d be doing it back to you, to see how you’d like it.”

“Okay. I promise. I’ll only watch the premonition. Nothing else.” Max promised, holding his right hand up and the other over his heart. Liz nodded in satisfaction and then kissed him quickly. “Alright, clear your mind of everything but what you saw.” Max instructed as he cupped the sides of her face and then focused on the mental transmission, getting the images from Liz’s premonition.

“Did you see?” Liz questioned when Max dropped his hands.

“Yeah, I saw it.” Max answered softly. And moved to pull Liz closer to him, causing the walkie talkie to fall on the seat and stop transmitting to Dominic’s walkie talkie.


Jeep Grand Cherokee

“Powers?” Dominic repeated mystified.

Happy Halloween guys!

Okay, it's raining again so I'm like rushing to post before the power goes out. Thanks to Icequeen and LovinGuerin2Much for helping me.

Who could forget with all the sucking face that was going on. :lol: Point is, that she got a small piece in one premonition and then got another flash where she got more detail. That's what's happening. Right now, it's a sex flash to them but it's much more.

Chapter 5

The Chevelle

“Hey Dominic? We’re getting on the 29.” Max announced in the walkie talkie, but only received static. “Dominic?” Max called out. “Nothing.” He announces to the other three, who are watching just ask concerned as he was.

“Do you see him?” Michael asked to no one in particular as he tried to search quickly from his rear view mirror.

“I see like 10 cars that look like his.” Maria answered as she turned in her seat to look back.

“Why wouldn’t he answer?” Michael questioned, giving Max a skeptical look which Liz picked up on and began shaking her head.

“Uh uh. No. No way.” Liz debated.

“Then you tell me a better reason why he doesn’t answer.” Michael demanded.

“He probably got out of range and can’t hear us. We are on the highway Michael.” Liz pointed out and then turned to see if she could see him. “He’s probably trying to reach us now. Remember, he said he was going to before we got on the 29.”

“Liz. Maybe we were wrong.” Max suggested softly.

“No. He wouldn’t do that.” Liz denied all thought of Dominic betraying them, ignoring that tiny nugget that scream the possibility of his betrayal. But she couldn’t give up hope.

“How the hell would you know? You’ve none him for what? A minute?” Michael questioned seeing Liz lower her head when he pointed out the facts.


Jeep Grand Cherokee

“Hello?” Roma called out when he heard someone pick up in the other end. “Yeah. This is Roma. We’re heading to Woodsburn.” Dominic spoke as he glanced at the highway sign that announced the merger with the 29, hung up his cell phone and then turned on the walkie talkie.


The Chevelle

“Screw this. I’m turning back around.” Michael announced, looking to his right, so he could change to the right lane.

‘Hello? Hello?’

Just then, a sigh of relief came out of Liz when she heard Dominic’s voice.

“Yeah?” Max answered, looking to Michael who looked back at him in irk.

‘The 29 is coming up.’

“Yeah, we know.” Max replied.

“Ask him why the hell he didn’t answer us before.” Michael exceeded and got a light nod from Max.

“Hey, Dominic. We’ve been trying to reach you.”

‘Yeah. I fell a couple of cars back. Must have gotten out of range.’

Michael looked to Liz from the rear view mirror, who was flashing him an ‘I told you so’ grin.

‘Listen. When you guys get to Sisseton. Head into Traverse County. When you get there. Head into a place called “The Shop”. My grandfather’s cabin is secluded, so you’ll be needing supplies before we get there.’

“Alright. Thanks.” Max answered and then handed Michael the walkie talkie so he could place it in the cop holder. “We’ll be making it there by nightfall.” Max informed the three and then looked out his side to take in the scenery.

"Yeah and it's gonna be cold."


Outside the Shop
June 15th, 2002 - 11:22P.M.


“So, exactly what do we need?” Liz asked Dominic as they walked into the store.

“Um, everything.” Dominic answered, giving Liz the distinct feeling that Dominic was distracted by something else.

“Is everything okay?” Liz questioned, hoping that Michael wasn’t right about him.

“It’s not everyday I break the law.” Dominic answers as he sits on the steps.

“You’re not coming in?” Liz questioned, as Max waited for her by the entrance.

“I haven’t been here in 14 years. This is all going a little to quick...I just need a minute to let everything sink in.” Dominic explained and then scanned Liz’s features over.

“O-Okay.” Liz answered as she slowly went up the three steps, sensing he was examining her with his eyes and wondered if he was unconvinced on the excuse she gave him about the bruises being covered up by make up. She buried the thought and then took Max’s hand and followed him inside to get the supplies they needed.


Inside

“I don’t trust him.” Michael whispered to Max after Liz left to search in the aisle Maria was in.

“He’s taken us this far, Michael.”

“For all we know, ‘grandfather’s cabin’ is cop talk for interrogation room or something.” Michael theorized as he tossed thin boxes of Tabasco Sauce on top of his personal hygiene products.

“Do you really think he’ll drive us all the way to Minnesota, just to turn us in?” Max questioned in disbelief that Michael was still headstrong about his distrust towards Dominic.

“Maybe we’re turning ourselves in by coming here.” Michael answered, leaving Max to consider his statement, and passed by Maria and Liz, who were debating on what color toothbrushes they should have.

“Maria just pick one.” Liz giggled when Maria stressed over which color to pick.

“Okay. Purple.” Maria finalized and then tossed her toothbrush into the cart. “So what else do we need?” Maria questioned as she took a “Close-Up” tooth paste and tossed it in with their other items.

“Um, I guess personal stuff that we need tonight and in the morning, and whatever else we need we can come back later because I am dreaming of that bed right now.” Liz whined, feeling her heavy eyelids fighting to get the best of her.

“Well, then we’re gonna need these.” Maria pointed out to a pair of men’s flannel pajamas. “We can wear the tops and Beavis and Butt-Head can wear the bottoms.” Maria plotted tossing the red and blue flannel sets into the cart and then turning into the next isle, while Max walked into the same isle and kissed Liz on the cheek, causing Liz to get another premonition.

It was the same as before. Her and Max, making love underneath white sheets, but something different in this vision. An extra piece. Liz telling Max something. Something she couldn’t make out. Liz’s eyes tightened and she stepped back almost about to fall back until she felt Max’s arms wrap around her.

“Are you okay?” Maria asks when she witnesses Liz’s reaction to the kiss.

“Liz?” Max questioned with concern, pulling her closer to him.

“It’s nothing. Just another flash from before.” Liz answers, looking up at Max from underneath her eyelashes to see if he picked up on what she meant.

“Um, the same?” Max asked.

“Yeah.” Liz answers and flashes Max a smile. “We can talk about it later though.”

Max bites the side of his lip, nodding in anxiousness and then moves to the other isle where Michael was watching in dismay.

“Do you have to do that?” Michael questioned as he browsed through the comic book rack.

“Do what?” Max questioned innocently as he leaned over to get some old fashion candles.

“That.” Michel pointed to the candles. “Do you have to do that? Especially in front of Maria?” Michael questioned annoyed and then tossed a few comic books into his cart.

“Sorry.” Max twisted his mouth in a ‘yikes’ form and then looked over the magazines to find reading material of his own to read.

“You guys ready?” Maria asked with her hand on her hip.

“Yeah. Let’s get out of here.” Michael huffed and led the others to the check out counter.


Kenya Paka, Nebraska

“Sir, they could be anywhere by now.” The driver declared, giving up hope but then looked over to Burns who was sitting with a smug look on his face on the passenger side.

“Not anywhere.” Burns answered in a dark tone.

“Do you have a lead sir?” The driver questioned.

“Yeah, a Minnesota lead.” Burns answered and looked over to the driver. “We’re going to Traverse County.”

“Yes sir.” The driver accepted the new quadrants and accelerated their speed.


Outside The Shop

“Sorry, it took so long.” Liz apologized, when she saw Dominic by his car smoking a cigarette.

“It’s okay. Hope you guys got what you needed for tonight cause my grandfather’s cabin is in the secluded area of Woodsburn.” Dominic warned.

“Yeah, real convenient.” Michael whispered behind Max.

“Let’s go.” Dominic declared and then flicked his cigarette into the snow before climbing in his jeep and leading the way to his grandfather’s cabin.

Chapter 6

Roma Cabin

When they entered the main door, the first thing they spotted was the cream sectional sofa that faced the stone wood-burning fireplace.

“Wow. This-place-is-beautiful.” Maria gasped as she took in the features of the cabin, all wide eyed, thinking the outside definitely didn’t do the interior justice.

“Yeah, a deer head. Can’t get more romantic than that.” Michael sneered as he tried to balance the stuffed bags to place them on the small round table that seated four people.

“Actually the deer head is in the game room.” Roma corrected as he pointed to the spiral staircase.

“Wait. Did you say game room?” Michael questioned, unable to contain the hopeful smile.

“Yeah?”

“Game Room as in pool table right...not pet cemetery?”

“Game Room as in pool, foosball and air hockey.” Roma answered and then looked to the others who were laughing when Michael bolted up the spiral stairs.

“That’s Michael.” Maria commented as she headed up the stairs when she heard the cue balls colliding with one another and Michael cheer.

“Sorry...uh...he’s usually not like that.” Max pointed out to him with a small laugh as he place the bags he carried on the round table.

“God, Dominic this place is amazing.” Liz complimented as she knelt down to look at the selection of books that where in the book case that was pressed against the back of the sectional sofa. “Oh, my God. I love this book.” Liz gasped as she pulled out a paperback copy of Cold Mountain, that had been obviously read more than once by the repeated creases on the books spine.

“One of my Grandma’s requests.” Roma claimed as he pointed to the book and took a step closer. “If my Grand-dad had a wreck room she had to have books. They’re practically all over the place.” He expressed, pointing out the different sized bookcases that were scattered about that weren’t acknowledgeable until he pointed them out.

“Do they still come here?” Max asked as he looked around from where he stood.

“No. My Grandparents passed away...took with them the entire point of coming back to this place.” Dominic confessed gloomy.

“I-I’m sorry.” Max apologized quickly, feeling guilty for bringing up obviously hurtful memories to him.

“It was a long time ago.” Dominic answered shrugging off his pain and walked over to the fireplace. “Ahem. We’re gonna have to get this going if we don’t want to freeze to death tonight. There’s a shed in the back, I’ll go get us some wood.”

“Let me help.” Max offered as he was prepared to walk out with him.

“No, it’s okay. You two keep looking around.” Dominic suggested.

“You sure? Cause I can...”

“No it’s okay. Go ahead.” Dominic persisted, until he saw Max nod in agreement.

“Um, where do these go?” Liz asked, holding the railing of a straight staircase, opposite from the spiral stairs.

“The bedrooms. There are only two. One at each end.” Roma answered, and then looked from Liz to Max as they’re was an awkward silence. “Right. Well, I’m gonna go get that wood.” Dominic repeated, pointing out the door with his thumb and then left for the shed.

“Oh, my God. Max, this place is beautiful.” Liz whispered in amazement as she went into Max’s arms.

“Yeah, it is.” Max answered, but with a hint of uncertainty in his tone.

“What? What is it?” Liz asked looking up at him when she picked up on his wondering tone.

“It’s nothing.” Max answered shaking his head, and then cupped her cheeks, kissed the top of her head, and looked back in her eyes. “It’s nothing.”

“Yeah right.” Liz replied. “Tell me.” Liz demanded softly as she pulled him closer to her and stole a kiss.

“It’s just something he said...that he hasn’t been here in years and yet look at this place.” Max answered, walking to the book stand and ran his finger on the top of the bookcase and then turned to show his finger to Liz. “It’s dustless.”

“Well, maybe he rents the place out or has a cabin-sitter or something.” Liz suggested and returned her hold around Max’s waist.

“Maybe.” Max answered with doubt still in his tone.

“Yeah, well, maybe we should go check upstairs and snag the best room before Maria and Michael do.” Liz said impishly as she pulled Max to the straight stairs.

‘Score!’

“Uh, I think Michael already found his room.” Max joked.

“Come on.” Liz said, taking his hand and leading him upstairs and to the room that was the furthest away from the staircase at the end of the hall.


Shed

“Come on! Work you piece of shit.” Dominic cursed as he banged on the side of his cell phone, attempting to get a signal. “Shit!” He yelled when the screen displayed the message ‘NO SIGNAL’ and kicked a stump of what remained of a tree, which brought to his attention the old fashion ax that was hacked into the top of the stump.

He proceeded to place already-chopped-wood into an old firewood bag and then moved back to the cabin, hearing the snow crunch underneath his boots.


Roma Cabin

Dominic stomped off the snow that traveled with him from his boots and wrinkles of his jeans, on the doormat and peeked in the door’s glass and noticed no one was in the living room.


Upstairs – Bedroom

“I wonder what it looks like.” Liz spoke enthusiastically, clearly impressed by the way the cabin had been furnished. For some unknown reason, she felt like she was home.

Max turned the door knob and walked in with Liz right behind her.

“Max.” Liz gasped at the sight of the room.

“Is this the...”

“Uh huh.”

“From your...”

“Mmm hmm.” Liz mumbled, seeing the stunned state was mutual between the two. She moved from behind Max’s and walked further into the room, seeing that it indeed, was the same room from her vision. Her vision of the two of them making love.


Downstairs – Living Room

Dominic crept to one staircase to see if anyone was coming down and then looked over to the other. When he considered the coast was clear, he quietly made his way under the staircase and moved the bookcase that was underneath, over. And then crouched to the floor. He pulled out his car keys and opened his miniature Swiss Army knife out and popped opened a loose floor board. He dug his hand in the dark opening and pulled out a tin box that had the letters "D. R." engraved unprofessionally. He looked back out to make sure no one was coming and then returned to the box and removed the lid, letting out a sigh of relief when he saw his fathers gun and clip were still there.


Upstairs – Bedroom

“Okay...so what do we do?” Liz asked, trying not to touch anything that would cause her to receive a flash.

“What do you mean?” Max asked confused.

“Um, well, my visions have been warnings...so...” Liz couldn’t bring herself to finish her statement for how much she was blushing.

“Did you get a flash when...before we um...you know.” Max asked, blushing himself by bringing out the undiscussed fact that they had made love.

“No.” Liz said biting down on her lip and looking down as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.

“Maybe...” Max started to speak as he took a step forward and then stopped when he saw Liz quickly back away from him, and looked at her perplexed. “What?”

“Uh, it’s just that...if my theory’s right...about my flashes. I don’t want to know right now that something bad’s gonna happen.” Liz admitted as she fidgeted with her fingers.

“Liz. We can’t be sure that’s why you get the flashes.” Max objected, shaking his head with a light smile.

“And we can’t be sure that it is unless I get more flashes...so...”

“So, I can’t touch you? At all?” Max questioned, thinking her terms were unreasonable.

“Um, just not now. So stay there.” Liz said holding her hands up and edging her way to the door. “And no touching until I say.” She instructed and then ran out the door and to the stairs.


Downstairs – Living Room

Dominic heard the footsteps above him and quickly put everything back to where it belong, popping up just when Liz hopped of the last step and clutched her chest when she was startled to see him.

“Dominic! God, I didn’t see you.” She notified him and took in a breath. “What were you doing?”

“Um, looking for a book...my Grand-ma’s favorite, but it’s not down here. So it must be upstairs.” Dominic quickly answered and then looked up to see Max coming down the steps.

“You’re grandfather’s alright, Roma.” Michael complimented as he came down the spiral steps, looking like a new man, and a grinning Maria following behind.

“Like a five year old at a toy store.” Maria announced, shaking her head in amusement.

“So, I, uh, got us wood.” Dominic coughed and then pointed to the bag that was by the bookshelf against the couch.

“Great. Cause I’m freezing my ass off.” Michael declared and moved to the fireplace to help Dominic get it started. “So listen, after we crash, we can go over this place.”

“What?” Dominic questioned.

“You know, like ‘who’s-who’ and ‘what’s-what’.” Michael answered and tossed a split log into the fireplace.

“Oh, yeah. Okay.” Dominic nodded and then tossed a log piece himself.

“Why are you helping us anyway?” Michael questioned bluntly.

“God, Michael can you be more rude?” Maria asked appalled by his behavior towards Dominic’s generosity. “I apologize. He was raised by wolves.”

“No. Really it’s okay. Sometimes being straight forward is the best way to go.” Dominic said with a small laugh and a hint of insinuation in his statement. “I was talking on the phone with the doctor that treated Liz when I took her to the hospital. Right in the middle of the conversation, then FBI comes in and takes Liz’s kit.”

“Did she say why?” Max asked concerned, jamming his hands in his pockets, trying to restrain himself from wrapping his arms around Liz.

“No.” Dominic answered, shaking his head as he stood up and dusted the touch of wood off on his jeans. “They took my case files too and questioned everyone that Liz had contact with.”

“Wouldn’t that make you suspicious of us then?” Michael questioned, standing up and crossing his arms.

“Michael!” Maria exclaimed again.

“I promise. I’ll get him a muzzle.” Maria apologized to Dominic with a hand on her chest, feeling responsible for taming Michael’s rude out bursts.

“Better get a matching pair.” Michael snapped back, seeing Maria place her hand on her hip and arch her eyebrow, officially vexed by his comments.

“No, he’s right. I did suspect you guys.” Dominic admitted. Michael arched his eyebrows to Maria in an ‘I told you so’ manner and Maria just rolled her eyes and crossed her arms.

“So what changed your mind?” Liz asked.

“I had my partner...Wess.” Dominic started to explain but looked at Liz to see if she remembered his partner, and continued when he saw she nodded that she did. “I had him run you guys and I swear, you two have the most academic file I have ever seen.” He said pointing to both Liz and Max.

“Yeah, you're regular point-Dexter's.” Michael snorted.

“Basically.”

“So, I guess something good came out of you being a square.” Michael commented, pointing to Max with his chin and getting a glare in return.

“But...I also had Wess do a run on your families.” Dominic added and watched as the four of them exchanged looks. “Aside from Liz’s fathers’ DUI and your foster fathers wrap sheet..” He said pointing to Michael. “Nothing as severe for the FBI to be on your backs.” Dominic theorized as he crossed his arms boldly. “So you either tell me what’s really going on...or I’m gonna have a talk with that Agent Burns.” He threatened.

“Okay.” Max pleaded, taking a step forward, holding up his hand in surrender, and then shoving it back in his pocket. “You’re right. Our families at Roswell have nothing to do with this.”

“So why is this Agent Burns after you?” Dominic asked in a demanding tone.

“It’s a long...unbelievable story.” Max answered.

“I’m not going anywhere.” Dominic replied as he sat down on the end of the sectional.

“Michael, take Liz and Maria upstairs.” Max ordered.

“What?” Michael questioned, dropping his hands and taking a step forward.

“It’s late already. The four of us don’t need to be here to explain. Just take them upstairs.” Max ordered again, but in a both pleading and stern tone. Michael looked to Dominic, contemplating what he was going to do and then finally moved to the round table where their stuff was at, grabbed the bags that didn’t have food and then move beside Max.

“I want a full report.” Michael vented and then moved up the straight stairs with Maria following and then Liz following slowly as she looked at Max concerned.

“It’s okay. Go to bed.” Max advised. Liz flashed him a light smile and then jogged up the rest of the stairs. Max looked to the bags that were on the table and remembered the food. “Come on. I’ll tell you in the kitchen.” Max said grabbing the remaining two bags and then moved to the kitchen with Dominic following behind.


Kitchen

“Tetryl.” Max murmured as he put the eggs in the empty refrigerator and then thought to himself how stupid his theory was earlier, in think that someone would actually clean the place for an ambush.

“What?” Dominic questioned confused.

“Liz and me found traces of Tetryl in a convenient store, Sam’s Quick Stop. Agent Burns was suppose to convince us it was laundry detergent.” Max explained as he placed the other items away. “But he didn’t expect we’d test the samples as well and discover it was Tetryl.”

“The bomb chemical?”

“Yeah. I threatened to expose him if he didn’t let Liz go...”

“Wait? Let Liz go?” Dominic repeated.

“They were holding her on charges of armed robbery at the convenient store, but it was all a lie. We demanded the security tapes be shown as evidence that we never went near the register or take any of the merchandise, but the tape surprisingly disappeared.” Max said with an arched eyebrow, hinting off that there was foul play involved.

“So this Agent Burns...”

“Got fired in failure to do his job and now is on a personal vendetta against me and Liz.” Max finished.

“What about the other two?” Dominic asked, in reference to Maria and Michael.

“They have nothing to do with what happened. They’re just our best friends that wouldn’t let us go through this alone.” Max answered and then took a breath. “They gave up everything.”

“You all did.” Dominic reflected, seeing Max nod his head in agreement.

“We can never go home. Liz can never see her parents. Maria can never see her Mom. I can never see my parents or my sister.” Max added desolated. “We have to run.”

“We’ll you’re free to stay here. Aside from me, the caretakers the only one that knows about this place.” Dominic informed him. “You guys are pretty secluded.”

“Thanks, but we can’t stay here forever.” Max said with a small laugh.

“Why not?” Dominic asked.

“Cause it’ll put you at risk. You’ve helped us enough. I can’t have you go through what we did, just because you’re trying to do the right thing.”

“Believe me. No one does the right thing.” Dominic replied. “Don’t worry about me. According to them, I’m on vacation.”

“Right.” Max nodded as he folded the empty paper bags and placed them neatly on the counter.

“How long have you and Liz been dating?” Dominic asked, making small talk when it got silent between them.

“Almost two years.” Max answered proudly.

“So, it’s pretty serious between you two then?”

“I love her.” Max confessed and lowered his head with a smile, proud to say he loved Liz and know she loved him just as much.

“And Michael and Maria?”

“Three, but it must feel like an eternity for the two of them.” Max laughed. “And you?”

“Got someone? Nah. Once they find out I’m a cop, it all goes downhill from there.” Dominic answered and then yet another awkward silence fell upon them. “So, you must be tired.”

“Yeah, I am.” Max answered, rubbing his face. “Um, was there a certain room we could take?”

“Take which ever. There’s a sleeper sofa in the game room. I’ll crash there.” Dominic informed him.

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah.”

“Alright then. Night.”

“Night.” Dominic replied and watched Max walk away. He waited a few second before checking to see if Max was really gone and then rushed out the front door and pulled out his cell. “Come on! Work. Damn it.” Dominic cursed when it kept displaying there was no signal available. “Fuck!” He cursed low and then went back inside, locked the door, turned off the lights and went up the spiral stairs to the game room.

“Liz?” Max called out.

Author's Note: Although I would have loved to elaborate on this chapter, I did enter the title in a certain way which clashed in this chapter. I didn't want a moderator pointing the 'no-no' finger at me our scaring off some young bug by the false rating. So this was as much as I could dabble in it guys. Sorry. :cry:


Chapter7

Upstairs – Vision Bedroom

“Liz?” Max called out, staring at the empty room and sadly coming to the conclusion that she was probably in the other room with Michael and Maria, avoiding him and this room, in order not to get another flash. He took in a breath of depression and then moved to the end of the bed to remove his shoes. Falling back on the soft mattress with his hands behind his head, he closed his eyes for what seemed like the first time since he was taken out of Roswell.

This was also the first time he actually thought about Roswell. His parents. His sister. Everyone and everything he would never get to see again because of who he was. He was never gonna get to smell Michael burning burgers on the Crashdown’s grill or hearing Maria bicker with him while he waited for Liz to get off of work in his usual booth. He was never gonna Liz her in the cute loose french braids and light green and silver waitress uniform with the silver alien apron, he had grown to love to see her in...the uniform she wore when it all started...and receive small kisses in between her customers. Kisses he craved for now. A scent he needed. And a touch he long ed for.

Suddenly, he felt the hairs on his arms stand at attention with a shiver coarse through his body by the feeling that he was being watched. When he opened his eyes, he saw Liz huddled over with a blushing smile. “Liz?” He questioned surprised to see her. “What are you doing here?”

“Is there somewhere else am I suppose to be sleeping at besides next to you?” Liz questioned, still holding her smile. “I was waiting for you to come get me..”

“I thought you didn’t want to be here...cause of the flashes.” Max answered with a soft grin feeling exactly how the saying says you’re suppose to feel when you assume something...like an ass. “Did you get one?” Max asked, thinking she might of got one when she entered the room,

“Maria opened the door for me.” Liz answered as she removed her shoes and socks.

“So you’re still afraid to touch anything? Touching me?” He asked depressed covering his eyes with his arm.

Liz took in a deep breath, knowing that if her and Max got closer it would lead her to get another glimpse of her premonition from before. But with Maria’s help, she considered the pro’s and con’s of the situation. If she didn’t see the flash any further for interpretation, they could be loosing the element of surprise, and then the pro’s...so many, but none as alluring as being physically close with Max again.

“I wouldn’t say ‘afraid’.” Liz replied seducingly as she climbed on top of him and sat on his thighs, seeing him remove his arm away from his eyes quickly. “I’m pathetic.” She declared in a giggle

“Why do you say that?” Max asked as he rubbed her outer thighs.

“Because I could only stay away for ten minutes.” She laughed leaning down closer to him.

“Hey, those ten minutes were the longest and the hardest I ever had to live through.” Max laughed before Liz sealed their lips together, getting another glimpse of Liz’s vision, and savored the moment before she lightly pulled away, leaving Max yearning for more with his lips still puckered and eyes focused on her lips and then down at her hands that were pulling up his shirt to see his flexing washboard abs and the elastic of his boxer briefs peeking out.

“Oh my God, Max! Look!” Liz gasped in astonishment. When Max propped himself up in his elbows to look down at his chest, he was astounded by the glowing affect her fingertips where causing against his skin. “Max, what does this mean?” She asked in splendor and wonder since it didn’t happen the first time they made love.

“I don’t know.” Max answered mystified as he watched her running her hands all over her chest to see the white glow light her touch and then questioned whether or not it involved her vision. Wonders that were soon put on hold when she bent her head down and planted a random pattern of butterfly kisses from above his belly button to between his pecks, and then sat up on her knees, curling her finger seducingly for him to follow.

Looking down at him with a mischievous smile, she lifted Max’s shirt halfway above his head, leaving him with his eyes covered by the collar and his elbows pointing up as she held on securely to his hands behind his head, preventing him from removing the rest of his shirt while she teased him by flicking her tongue on his lips, light enough for him to feel her closeness and open his mouth in anticipation of feeling her tongue explore his.

“Liz.” Max whispered in ache as she continued to tease him, backing away every time his lips tried to captivate hers.

“Hmm.” Liz hummed seductively as she sucked on his earlobe that peeked out of the collar and then moved down to his neck.

“Mmm, what are you doing to me?” He asked rhetorically as he licked his lips, enjoying the feeling of Liz’s fingertips exploring his chest in a wave like manner while her other hand held his securely and her lips grazing his bottom lip making him hiss.

“Making love to you in a minute.” Liz whispered huskily in his ear, making his ears twitch and a heat coarse through his body at the sound of her intentions towards him, and then finally lowered her lips on his, passionately granted him what he had been yearning. To feel her lips kissing his, the swoops and bobs they would take in each positioned kiss, to taste her again, to her Liz giggled in enjoyment when their foreheads touch as they tried to regain their breathe and then continue kissing again. To feel her run her hands in his hair, causing it to stand, while he sucked in her lower lip and then proceeded to kiss down her neck and to her chest with her head tilted back in want.

And that’s when it happened.

The premonition flashed before them, of them making love in that very bed and then Liz whispering something to him, this time loud enough for her to hear. When the vision stop, she heaved back into reality to find Max on his knees, cupping her check and trying to get a connection between their eyes.

“Liz, what is it? Was it another vision?” Max asked concerned as he bent his head down in order to see her lowered face. “What did you see?”

“Max—you have to—to see yourself.” Liz answered, placing her hands on top of his and looking back at him from underneath her eyelashes.

“O—Okay.” Max replied as he swallowed the fear of what to expect and then closed his eyes to focus on the specific vision, bestowing it upon himself before he re-emerged into reality the same way Liz did.

“Did you see?” Liz asked with a trembling voice, seeing Max nod as he coughed out of breath. “Max, if we...”

“I know.” Max answered quickly, kissing her, remembering the moment before his eyes opened slowly. “Do you want to stop?”

“Do you?” Liz rebuttaled and watched intently as Max nodded his head ‘no’. “I don’t either.” Liz answered with a sigh of relief.

“Are you sure?” Max questioned with concern as he brushed her hair back getting another agreeing nod from her.

“I love you Max. You know I do.” Liz confessed, watching a smile outstretch across his lips.

“And I love you.” Max replied emotionally before he pulled Liz in for a kiss. Butterflies and goosebumps took over Liz’s entire body at the feeling Max inhale in passion before he tucked his hands underneath her shirt and tug up on the hem until Liz slowly lifted her arms so he could strip her from the clothes that separated her from him. Without hesitation, Max gripped on to the edges of her shirt, with a soft gazing look between the two, and lifted it off her in one swoop.

Looking down at her body in wonder, he took his pointing finger and middle finger gentle passed his fingertips up her belly button, over the bump of her black bra and between her breast before chartering over her neck and inserting them into her mouth, suck in the erotic air as he watched her do the same to his fingers.

Then, as Liz leaned all the way back so her head could rest in the curve of Max’s feet and ankles and her arms stretched above her head in order to grab on to the bottom board of the bed, Max retraced his trail with wet fingers back down her chin and neck, waving left and right on the mounds of her breast before going back on track between her breast, down her flat stomach and to the button of her jeans.

As he struggled to get them undone with one hand, while the other cupped her bottom, he leaned forward kissing underneath her belly button while Liz stroked her hands in his hair. When the button and zipper were finally undone, Max slipped his hand from underneath her to join the other of stripping her from the jeans. Once he removed them enough to reveal her black bikini-side underwear, he got up to his knees with her legs hooked by one of his arm, while the other hand finished removing the denim material, and the rejoined with the other to open her legs so he could lie down between her with the moon highlighting both of their bodies in the faintest blue silhouette.

“What is it?” He asked kissing her stomach when he looked at her biting down her smile as she gentle brushed his cheeks, looking up at him in amazement.

“Just thinking.” Liz answered in a dreamy tone as she brushed his hair back as he traced hearts on her stomach watching a light glow outline the shape from the touch.

“Of what?” Max whispered, extending out his hand to touch her cheek, but her hand took hold and pressed her lips in the center of his palm, before letting him proceed to cup her cheek.

“Of having you like this. I love having you like this.” Liz admitted, kissing his palm again.

“And you always will.” Max answered with sincerity emitting fro his gaze. “You’re the one Liz. You’ll always be, no matter what. You will always be the woman I love...the woman I make love to....” And before Max could finish his confession, Liz pulled him down on her, causing him to take control in ravishing her as they proceeded to drink of each others love .


Living Room

“Come one. Get a damn signal.” Dominic cursed in a whisper as he walked around the living room, pressing the “SEND” and “END” repeatedly, attempting to get a signal from somewhere in the house. When he reached the kitchen, he pressed “SEND”, expecting to see the “No Signal” pop up on the tiny screen, instead saw the message “Low Batteries” and then the cell screen glowing blue before turning off. “Fuck.” Dominic cursed as he punched the air and then rubbed his lips from aggravation.

He moved over to the sleeper sofa, dropped himself on the cushion with his arms behind his heads and envisioning himself recharging his cell phone with the car charger before falling asleep.


Kitchen — Next day

“What’s up?” Michael asked, lacing his scrabbled eggs with Tabasco Sauce, when Liz and Max walked in the kitchen, hand-in-hand, and with pensive expressions.

“We have to talked to you two.” Liz spoke softly with a blush, biting her bottom lip as she looked down at her foot that she was twisting on the wooden floor, not sure if anyone heard the undescribable sex the two shared last night.

“What’s up?” Maria questioned in worry.

“Last night. Liz got the same flash.” Max answered, letting them adjust to the news with a small pause.

“And? Are we still gonna get popped?” Michael asked impatiently.

“Um, well the vision wasn’t about that.” Liz replied tucking her hair behind her ear with one hand while the other squeezed Max’s hand tightly.

“What was it about then?” Maria asked, hearing Michael groan in annoyance by all the unnecessary pauses.

“Well...” Liz started off but then looked over to Max, who nodded and silently accepted the responsibility to break the news.

“Um, well...the things is...Liz is pregnant.” Max stuttered, watching Michael’s fork fall on his plate and Maria’s jaw drop like Macaulaly Culkin in Home Alone.


Living Room

Dominic eyes opened wide at the news as he eavesdropped into the conversation against the living room wall.


Outside

Quickly and quietly, he tipped-toed his way out of the house and rushed to his car, igniting the engine and inserted the cell charger into the phone and into the lighter socket. He waited until two bars appeared on the screen before he pushed “SEND” and which redialed the number and grinned ear-to-ear when the screen displayed the message “Dialing...”

“Hello? It’s Roma. Yeah, I know. Piece of junk cells. Anyways, I have information that made it worth the wait...That Liz Parker girl....she’s pregnant and that Max Evans, well...he’s the father. Yes I’m sure. Liz Parker is pregnant with Max Evans baby.”


Sisseton

"Sir, what's are move now."

"We pull back. If she really is pregnant, I want that baby." Agent Burns answered, putting on his shades as they headed for Traverse County.

Chapter 8


Kitchen

“Okay, right about now is when you’re supposed to say ‘Max you idiot’ or ‘congratulations’.” Liz giggled nervously, squeezing Max’s hand.

“We would talk, but you’ve stunned us all the way into preschool, well, me that is. Space Boy here’s back in cocoon land.” Maria answered pointing to Michael with her thumb.

“So just how pregnant are you?” Michael finally spoke, surprising both Max and Liz, who had previously bet that Michael would explode once he heard the news.

“Um, as pregnant as I can be.” Liz answered, shooting him a quizzical look and then looking to Max who shrugged, not understanding the question either.

“Right, so…” Michael trailed off as he stood up and hugged Liz, who flinched at first and stood stiff in his arms but then loosened up a bit when she felt Max behind her. “Congratulations.” He announced with a “serious Michael smile”, and then patted Max on the back before returning to his breakfast.

The three of them exchanged looks and then Maria felt his forehead with the back of her hand and then checked his pulse.

“Okay, where’s the Michael Guerin I’ve grown to love and hate at the same time?” Maria questioned, more surprised than anyone on how calmly he took the news.

“Max is a big boy and the both of them are smart enough to know what they’re getting themselves into.” Michael answered with a shrug, finishing the rest of his eggs and then moved to the garbage to toss the rest away.

“Okay, is there such thing as an alien being abducted?” Maria question sarcastically as she moved over to Michael’s seat. Max just stood quietly behind Liz, rubbing her shoulders while she crossed her arms like Wednesday in the Adams Family, with her chin on her hands.

“Maria, drop it. You want me to yell and tell Max he’s an idiot, well, it’s not gonna happen so let it go.” He yelled as he talked with his hands and then turned to face Max. “Let’s go play some air hockey.” He suggested, slapping him on his arm and then exited the kitchen, leaving the three of them in bewilderment.

“Okay, who the hell was that and where the hell is my boyfriend?” Maria questioned as she poked at the table when she pronounced each word with disbelief.

“Okay, you’re just as surprised as we are. Last night we practice on how to justify this to him, so right now…I’m more surprised than I was when I found out I was pregnant.” Liz answered, looking up at Max.

“I’m gonna go and…” Max said pointing in the direction Michael went and took a step away from Liz.

“Okay. Good luck.” Liz wished, giving him a kiss goodbye and then sat across from Maria, straightening the place mat in front of her and then looked up at Maria, who had her eyebrow arched and arms crossed, expecting a detail account of the ‘Who’s’, ‘What’s’, and ‘When’s’ and most importantly ‘How’s’. “So I guess you’re wondering how this happened, huh?” Liz asked with a blush.

“Uh, I think we both got the quick and the clear version of ‘the birds and the bees’, Senorita. I want to know…” Maria gasped as she looked up at the ceiling and cupped her cheeks, not knowing what information to demand knowledge of first. “…oh-my-God. I am so surprised I don’t even know what to ask you.”

“Well, think real good cause I’m sure once you figure out one question about a million would pop up after.” Liz giggled as she pulled Maria’s plate to her and began nibbling on the fluffy eggs. “Oh, were you done?”

“Oh, no. Please by all means, eat. Let Aunty Maria contribute into the healthy well being of Max Jr., okay that is just too weird. Why you? I mean me and Michael have been, ‘going to a land where no human has gone’ way before you and Max.”

Game Room

“I don’t know why. It’s just happened.” Max answered, hitting the thin plastic red neon puck into Michael’s slot and prepared himself for Michael’s attempt and his next question.

“Just happened? Why is it that things just happen to ‘just’ you and Liz?” Michael questioned.

“That’s not true.”

“Oh yeah? Did Maria get shot? No. Liz did and you ended up healing her.”

“Okay-”

“Car accident.”

Kitchen

“Flashes. Hickeys.” Maria added as Liz shook heard head in amused denial, thinking Maria was reading to much into what’s happened in the past.

“Maria, you got hickeys too, or do I have to remember your wool turtleneck wearing days when it was like 700 degrees.” Liz rebuttaled, seeing Maria tilt her head back as she nodded ‘no’.

“My hickeys weren’t glowing or directing me into a 1940’s scavenger hunt in the desert, Liz.” Maria defended as Liz continued to shake her head. “Okay, then what about the teleportation?”

Game Room

“The what?” Max laughed in confusion as he blocked Michael’s move.

“The whole Jean Grey/Professor X thing she did when you were in New York. Explain that.” Michael questioned, finally sinking the puck in Max’s slot.

“I don’t know, you tell me. You were there. I was in New York, and besides, that doesn’t count because she used Isabel.” Max said with a shrug as he prepared himself again.

“Okay, Mr. Referee. What about her being a crystal ball?” Michael question as he wiggled his eyebrows and then smack the puck with the off-white pod and scoring another point.

Kitchen

“I’m not a crystal ball.” Liz quickly corrected.

“Oh, right, right. Jubilee by day, Nostradamus by night.” Maria answered sarcastically.

“Jubilee?” Liz laughed. “Maria, you and Michael have got to go on a normal date. Anything other than comic book conventions.”

“Believe me I tried and there’s no point in going down that road.” Maria answered shaking her head.

“Oh, poor baby.” Liz giggled with a pout.

“Hey, don’t pity me, you should really be pitting yourself.”

“What? Why?”

“You and I both know Max turns into the Incredible Hulk whenever the situation deals with you, oh, and Michael! Oh please don’t get me started. Isabel told my that Michael nearly broke Tess’s arm off when they found out Nasedo took you.” She said waving her hands in amusement as she laughed.

“Maria, you’re over reacting.” Liz blushed, taking another fork full of eggs into her mouth.

“Over reacting? Moi? Uh uh, honey, you got the wrong person.”

Game Room

“I do not over react.” Max defends himself as he and Michael move over to the pool table.

“Come on Maxwell. Don’t kid yourself. We all know you go crazy when it comes to Liz, so I really don’t see the point in denying it.” He shrugs as he removes the wooden triangle from the table, placed it on the stool and then grabbed his pool stick and then tossed Max one.

“I don’t go crazy.” Max argued as he broke the first move sending all the cue balls rolling but not sinking a one.

“Uh, risking our identity and our mere existence to the town to save her, need I say more?” Michael rhetorically asked as he twirled his pool stick and then aligned it to sink a solid yellow ball into the middle pocket.

Kitchen

“That was different.” Liz debated as she poured herself more eggs and then sat back in her seat.

“How is that different?”

“Maria, I was dying.” Liz answered, like she pointed out the biggest justification to their discussion.

“You say tomato, I say toma-toe” Maria shrugged and nodded.

“Maria?” Liz called out in disbelief that Maria was so stubborn with her theory. “Max does what he does because he loves me.”

“Okay, you just sounded like Curly Anne in a ‘victims of domestic violence’ meeting.” Maria laughed.

“You know what I mean.” Liz giggled as she nodded her head on how crazy Maria was. “Max hasn’t loved anyone the way he loves me…”

“Okay and you’re just loving that, aren’t you?” Maria asked, seeing Liz blush even more as she touched her shoulder with her chin and shrugged innocently. “Emm hmm. Well, Mamacita, you call it whatever you want, I’m still right.”

“Maria.”

“Speaking of calling…”

Game Room

“Have you decided what to name the kid already?” Michael questioned as he sunk the eight ball into the corner pocket and winning the game.

“Michael, we don’t even know what sex the baby is going to be.” Max chuckled lightly as the placed their pool sticks on the pool table and moved over to the Foosball table.

“Still, you got to know. The second time me and Maria did ‘it’ she had me pick.”

“You’re serious?” Max asked surprised.

“Yep. Brendan if it’s a boy and Majandra if it’s a girl.”

“Wow.”

“Yeah, stuff chics think about when they’re like two.” Michael sneers sarcastically as he turns the metal knobs trying to sink the small ping pong ball into Max’s goal.

Kitchen

“I haven’t really thought about it.” Liz laughed, still hysterical over the fact that Maria made Michael pick.

“Liar.” Maria huffed as she crossed her arms with a smile stretched across her face. Liz just looked at her for a moment before she grinned ear-to-ear and moved over to the seat beside Maria, holding Maria’s joined hands in excitement.

“Okay. Okay. So I couldn’t go to sleep without wondering…Adam if it’s a boy and Emma if it’s a girl.” Liz confessed, leaving her statement to linger for Maria’s opinion.

“I love it.”

Game Room

“What about Jason for a boy and Shiri for a girl?” Max suggested as he picked up the ball from his compartment and tossed the ball into the center before spinning the center metal rod.

“Yeah, I’m sure Liz would just love to name her kid after a cherry.”

“That’s Maraschino.” Max corrected.

“Whatever. No dice either way.” Michael shrugged as he moved from rod to rod before scoring another winning point. “YES!”

“You have been cheating this whole time haven’t you?” Max question, doubting he could lose all three games.

“Was wondering when you were going to pick that up.” Michael answered with a sly smirk and then began play fighting with Max before they sat on the sofa bed not really seeing a point to playing anymore. “So Junior….”

“I don’t know, you think of one.” Max suggested in frustration.

“Uh uh, just ask Liz in a few minutes. I’m pretty sure Maria already mentioned a few names, aside from her own. I tell you one thing though if you name that kid Maria, I quit. You can find yourself another second-in-command. It’s bad enough with one around.”

Kitchen

“Whatever you do, for all that’s holy and pure, do not name that baby Michael. It’ll be like permanently engraving his future as a criminal.” Maria warned.

“Okay.” Liz laughed.

“Morning ladies.” Dominic greeted as he headed straight for the coffee.

“Good morning.” Liz greeted.

“Hey.” Maria answered and then looked at him skeptically. “Where did you go so early?”

“What?” Dominic answered nervously, wondering how she knew he left in the first place he went out when he made sure not to make a noise. “How’d you know I went out?”

“Well, one you’re wearing your boots and two, your starting a flood from how much snow you brought in.” Maria answered pointing to his work boots with her chin where he and Liz noticed the puddle of water that was forming at his feet.

“Damn, I forgot.” Dominic cursed as he grabbed the decorative towel that hung on the handle of the oven and placed it on the puddle.

“That is such a Michael thing to do.” Maria gasped in dismay as she watched Dominic stand on the towel and proceed to pour himself his coffee into a mug that had the words ‘I Love Grandma’.

“You should’ve been a cop, Maria.” He complimented on how observant she was.

“Nah, I’d hate to have to arrest my boyfriend everyday.” She answered sarcastically, making Liz smile in amusement. “Besides, I was loving my previous career as a small towney waitress.”

“Yeah, right.” Liz retorted, picking up on Maria’s sarcasm.

“Shit!” Dominic cursed, dropping the mug when some of the hot coffee splashed in his hand, and jumped back when he watched the mug break into three pieces.

“Are you okay?” Maria questioned as her and Liz rushed to see if he was okay. Maria ducking to pick up the glass, while Liz checked on his finger only to spark off another premonition.

‘No!’ Someone yells in a dark room followed by a loud gunshot and a mug falling on the floor.

“Liz?” Max calls out as he touched her shoulder.

“Huh?” Liz answers when she snaps out of the premonition trans and then turns to face Max, who’s looking back at her in concern.

“Are you okay?” Dominic asks, looking down at his hand, making Liz realize she still was holding on to him.

“Oh, um, sorry. Uh, spaced out.” Liz answered scratching her forehead as she moved over to Max’s side.

“You sure?” Dominic questioned skeptically.

“It’s nothing.” Liz shrugged off, but then closed her eyes and turned to Max before opening her eyes again. “Um, actually, I’m still a little tired.” Liz said pointing behind her with her thumb to signal to Max that she wanted to leave.

“Right. Okay, let’s go take a nap.” Max followed along.

“You know what. A nap sounds good right about now.” Maria added as she tossed the broken pieces in the sink and pulled Michael’s arm to follow her.

“A nap? What are we 50?” Michael question sarcastically, leaving Dominic standing by a puddle of melted snow and hot coffee, staring at the empty doorway of the kitchen in suspicion.

Chapter 9


Upstairs

Michael and Maria's Room



"So, what's up?" Michael questioned after everyone was accounted for in the room.

"Um, I had another flash." Liz mumbled as she moved to the other side of the room, pausing for a moment and then turned to see them again. "It was weird."

"Weird?" Max repeated, moving by her and placed his hand on her shoulder for support.

"Yeah, it was almost, I don't know. Different." Liz answered shaking her head in confusion before sitting down on the bed.

"What did you see?" Maria questioned as she nervously fidgeted with her fingers.

"I'm not sure." Liz answered, touching her forehead and closing her eyes trying to focus on the vision, but couldn't see it clearer. "Max, maybe...." Just when Liz was going to suggest Max re-connect with her, so he could get a glimpse of her premonition, Max's face became distorted, followed by his voice zoning in and out and then room spinning around her.

"Liz....wrong...you...Liz?"

"Liz?" Maria called out, leaning down to face her by which then Liz could no longer hear them.

"Max, she not looking to hot." Michael commented as he looked on, seeing Liz was paler then before and was beginning to sweat profusely.

"Liz? What's wrong? Tell me please." Max pleaded as he cupped Liz's cheeks and looked at her stunned face. "Liz?"

"Maybe we should take her to a doctor?" Maria advised in worry, moving over to where Michael was standing.

"And say what?" Michael questioned in sarcastic disbelief.

"I don't know. Something! I mean, look at her Michael." Maria pointed to Liz in despair as Max lowered Liz carefully to lie on the bed.

"Maria, we can't take her to the hospital." Michael declared sternly with a hand on his side and flashed a look to her that meant it was final.

"Wha..."

"Maria...Michael's right." Max added, not facing her when she turned around in shock that Max from all people would deny Liz the care she needed.

"What?" Maria questioned, looking to the side with her eyes closed, trying to think that what Max's response was a figment of her imagination, and then faced him again.

"If we take her to the hospital, a number of things can go wrong." Max explained as he held on tightly to Liz's hand.

"Screw that. She needs help, Max." Maria declared boldly as she took a step forward and demanded Max help Liz.

"No. No. Maria. I'm fine." Liz finally spoke, seeing everyone's eyes snap to her when she spoke.

"Liz?" Max called out in relief, holding her hand close to his chest while he brushed her damp hair away from her face as he looked on to her in sadness and helplessness.

"I'm okay." Liz assured him and then looked over to Maria to assure her as well. "Really."

"Liz! Oh my God! You scared me half to death." Maria gasped, clutching her chest in relief as she sat by the pillows and put her arm around Liz. "What happened?" .

"I don't know." Liz answered, holding her forehead, trying to come up with a reason why she reacted the way she did. Curling to her side and Maria curling beside her to face her, the two just exchanged sad smiles while Max and Michael whispered in the corner of the room.

"Are you okay?" Maria whispered with a pout after a few minutes of silence to let Liz regain some of her strength.

"I haven't felt this way since, you know, since I found out I was changing." Liz answered sadly as she tucked her hands under her cheek, thinking about how she distorted she felt back then that it drove her to go to Winnaman Academy.

"Hmmm..." Maria hummed in intrigue, grabbing Liz's attention on how pensive she looked.

"What?" Liz questioned and then watch Maria quickly sit up. "What is it?" Liz asked sitting up as well, attracting Max's and Michael's curiosity.

"Do you remember Sex Ed with Mrs. Lane Freshman year?" Maria questioned as she turned to face Liz with enthusiasm.

"Um, yeah." Liz answered quizzically shaking her head. Mrs. Bernetta Lane. She was the Home Ec. and Sex Ed teacher back at Roswell High. A snooty woman who loved to "camp-fire tale" her stories of her romantic life gone eerie for a lesson to beware of the male sex.

"Well, remember that video she made us watch?" Maria questioned, seeing Liz nod her head 'no'. "You know with the video journal of that pregnant girl."

"Oh, yeah." Liz quickly answered when she recalled the video. "What about it?"

"Well, remember how she kept going on about how fat and bloated she was and then the doctor told her it was because the baby was changing her body?" Maria questioned, pausing for a moment to let Liz nod and then continued. "Well, what if Junior's making you sick?"

"What?" Michael and Max both question simultaneously.

"Well, it makes sense. She's experiencing the same symptoms she had when she started to turn into the Bride of Frankenstein, so it's pretty obvious she's getting pregnancy symptoms to the max...literally." She explained, watching everyone's expression carefully, analyzing everyone's take of her theory, seeing Max was struggling with it more than everyone else.

"So...so this is happening to you be-because of me...again?" Max questioned as he sat in front of Liz, letting the feeling of guilt peer through his eyes as he caressed her cold cheek.

"Well, I'm not so sure about the-just-"you"-part, Wild Stallion, cause last time I heard, it takes dos to tango." Maria answered with a chuckled puff.

"Max, Maria's right." Liz added as she moved to sit on Max's lap. " "We" did this. You and me. But I don't care. I don't regret anything that happened Max." Liz whispered before planting a soft kiss on his cheek.

"Look, if you guys are gonna do the mushy-mushy thing, there's the door." Michael retorted in irritation, pointing to the closed door.

"Shut up, Michael." Maria ordered as she tossed Michael a pillow, smacking him right on the head and laughed. "If it's something those two need it's more mushy-mushy."

"Whatever helps you sleep at night." Michael shrugged, throwing back the pillow to Maria.


1 week later


Bedroom Corridor

"How is she?" Michael questioned Max, who was standing by his bedroom door that was opened, just enough to look in and see Maria talking to Liz in the dark.

"Better." Max answered, trying to sound convincing. "Better then before." He added, knowing Michael didn't buy his first response. "She's just sensitive the light."

"Well, think of it my way Max. Maybe you didn't turn her into one of us." Michael replied with a shrug.

"What?" Max questioned, extremely confused on why Michael would suggest that if all signs pointed to "alien transformation".

"Yeah, maybe you turned her to a vampire." Michael explained with a small chuckle only driving out a forced half smile and nod from Max before looking back to Liz.


Shed

'Beep. Beep.'

'Beep. Beep.'


INCOMING CALL...
WESS


"Hello?" Dominic answered in a whisper as he quickly crept to the shed doors to make sure no one was coming before he moved back in further into the shed to talk more securely.

'Why the flying fuck haven't you called?'

"I know."

'You know? What the fuck does that mean? I know?'

"Look, I'm leaving here in three days. When I get back, we got a lot of work to do." Dominic informed Wess, before hanging up quickly when he heard the snow crunching.

"Dom?" Michael called out as he poked his head in, spotting Dominic in front of the wood stack loading up a wood bag.

"What's up?" Dominic questioned, trying to act as cool as possible.

"Were you talking to someone?" Michael questioned suspiciously as he looked around from where he stood to see if Dominic was alone.

"Nah, just singing." He quickly answered, tossing one more log into the bag and moving out and passed Michael.

"Hey, Dom?" Michael called out, causing Dominic to freeze where he stood before slowly turning back around.

"Yeah."

"What song?"

"What?"

"What song were you singing?" Michael repeated, watching Dominic stare at him dumbfounded.

"The cops theme." Dominic answered, turning back around while Michael watched him head back to the cabin singing the theme song of COPS. "Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when they come for you."


The Shop

Basement



"Mornin' Sir." Burns' driver greeted when Agent Burns entered the room.

"Status report." Burns ordered as he looked over the driver's surveillance log.

"Right, well the owner gave them our bugged coffee mug. We've had ears for 4 days, 2 hours and 35 minutes."

"Excellent. So what's going on with the cam link?"

"So far all we have is eyes on the outside perimeter and two facing the windows of the kitchen and the game room. The blond kid, uh, Michael?" He trailed off unsure, checking his notes before continuing his briefing. " He's constantly alert. Looks like he's the bodyguard or something. Got transcripts of him going over the outlook of the cabin with primary, Max Evans. He's pretty organized." He informed him, sounding just unsure about the name Max Evans, like he did with Michael.

"And the girls?"

"According to the most heard female voice, I was able to identify as Maria...secondary, Liz Parker, has been sick."

"Really?" Burns asked, arching his eyebrow in curious intrigue.

"Yes sir. Apparently she's really sick. I got a 'it's not your fault Maxwell', uh, 'it's the baby'." The driver read off from his notes robotically before looking up at Burns, who was looking at the video feedback from the small monitors, watching the scenes of their camera shots.

"I want a camera where ever they're keeping her. I want to know what she eats and I want to know what it taste like. We clear?"

"Yes sir. I'm all over it." The driver answered before Burns exited the room and stood at the foot of the stairs from the stock room, lighting a cigarette up with a match.

"Looks like we're adding one more to the guest list." He murmurs wickedly before shaking the flame away from the match head and leaving the store's premises.


Roma Cabin

Max and Liz's Room


"Maxwell." Michael called out, poking half his body inside the space of the ajarred door, signaling Max to follow him with a nod, who was sitting on the bed stoking Liz's hair while she rested her head on his lap and returned a nod of compliance to Michael after.

"I'll be right back." Max assured Liz , leaning down and kissing the side of her head before slipping out and meeting Michael in the corridor.


Corridor

"What is it?" Max questioned as he pushed up his warmers' sleeves and then placed his hands on his side.


Living Room

"What's up guys?" Dominic asked, trying to hide his nerves when Michael and Max walked in with their arms crossed and an unreadable expression.

"We have to talk." Max answered.

Chapter 10

Living Room

"What's up guys?" Dominic asked, trying to hide his nerves when Michael and Max walked in with their arms crossed and an unreadable expression.

"We have to talk." Max answered, sitting down on the couch and then pointing to Michael to go to Dominic. Michael pulled out an envelope from behind him and then handed it to him.

“What is this?” Dominic asked as he weighed the envelope in his hand, determining that it was too heavy to be an ordinary letter and then recognized the insignia for a nationwide cable company addressed to a Jesse Esteban Ramirez.

“We need you to mail this when you head back.” Max answers, completely ignoring his question.

“Right. Okay. So who’s Jesse?” He asked looking to Max and then to Michael.

“He’s my brother-in-law.” Max answers, but before Dominic could question him further, he spots Maria at the top of the stairs.

“Max. Michael.” Maria calls out from the top of the stairs, seeing Michael turn and Max almost stand at attention at the sound of his name.

“Max.” Michael mimics, making sure he realizes it’s urgency and proceeds to the stairs but waits for him before climbing them.

“Is she okay?” Dominic asks concerned, it being a while since he seen Liz out of the room longer then 5 minutes.

“Yeah, she’s just not feeling good.” Max quickly answers defensively and then moves to the stairs, following behind Michael into his room.


Max/Liz Room

“What’s wrong?” Max asked worriedly as he sat beside Liz and held her hand.

“Nothing.” Liz answered letting out a faint laugh. “I just wanted to see you.” Liz confessed with a shy smile as Max brushed her hair behind her ear.

“Okay.” Max replied with a sigh of relief and then looked to Michael.

“Right. Maria, that’s our cue.” Michael announced, pointing to the door and waiting for Maria to get ahead of him so he could hold on to her shoulders and choo-choo train their way to their room.

Once the two were out, Max raised his hand, causing the door to shut and then looked back to Liz with a sad smile.

“Now, if you only knew how to lock the door from here, we’d be in business.” Liz comments with a weak laugh. Max simply flashed her a smile and quickly got off the bed to lock the door. “I guess the old fashion way still works.”

“Yeah, I guess.” Max answers, before crawling beside her and adjusting himself to allow Liz to rest her head on his chest so he could lightly brush her hair with his fingers. The two remained in that position in silence. Liz hearing his heart-beating calmly and Max feeling the softness of her hair.

“I love you Liz.” Max declared softly, watching Liz’s head popped up and blushing with a shy smile that lighted her face. “I don’t tell you that as often as I should…I-I just really wanted you to know that.” Max confessed, watching Liz slide herself up to kiss him and then slide back down to her original spot.

“I love you too, Max.” Liz replied in a low tone as Max brushed her hair off her neck. “Did Dominic take the letter?” She asked with her eyes closed, enjoying the touch of his fingertips brushing her skin with each pet.

“Yeah.”

“You think Michael’s plan will work?” She asked hugging his waist, making his t-shirt ride up, exposing the label top of his gray and black Hanes boxer-briefs.

“Maybe. It all depends.” Max answers with a short shrug feeling Liz’s hand rubbing his abdomen softly and thinking how weak, stamina-wise, she feels and appears to him.

“On what?” Liz questioned, memorizing how each patch of Max’s skin felt against her fingertips.

“On Dominic.” Max answers bluntly.

“Umm.” Liz hummed pensively and then lifted her head to look at him, while he cupped the back of her head. “Max?”

“Yeah?” He replied curiously, wondering what she was thinking about.

“Well, I know that you’re King and everything. And they have that whole constellation test to prove it, right?”

“Yeah?” He asked, watching her slide up to what he thought the reason was to kiss him but actually was her lying her head on the pillow beside him. He instinctively turned to his side, propped his head up on his hand and elbow, and tried to read her pensive face while his other arm pulled her closer to him. “Why?”

“Well, I was just thinking…”

“About that?” Max asked with a small chuckle, laughing because not more then two seconds ago they were talking about Dominic.

“Well, yeah.” Liz replied with a pout, and then traced her fingertips up and down Max’s arm.

“Why?” He asked amused, seeing how she was becoming shy all of the sudden and questioned whether it had to do with them or just him on an alien level.

“Well, it’s just…the emissary had that cool way of knowing and all I have is your word that you are.” Liz answered, taking a breath while she looked at him innocently from beneath her eyelashes to see him smiling at her with curiosity and confusion.

“So suddenly my word isn’t good enough?” Max asked, entertaining her out-of-the-blue thought to see where she was going with it.

“I trust you, but, how do I really know? Cause you could be an Antarian janitor for all I know…”

“So is that the only reason why you’re with me? For the title?” Max asked with a playful expression of being hurt by her thought. “I feel so…used. “

“Well, look at it from my point of view.”

“Okay? I’m listening.”

“Well, aside from the whole bringing me back from the dead and the mind blowing glowing hot sex…”

“Mind blowing?” Max repeated smugly.

“And the book, the million of other aliens that tried to kill us, and that “Antarian” home video of your Antarian mother…what guarantees do I have that you’re the real deal?” Liz asked as she tried to contain her smile as she watched Max smile back at her and pretend to consider her question reasonable.

“Oh, hey, flashes.” He answered proudly, pointing to her to make sure she considered that part of her list0.

“Flashes?” She repeated with a small laugh.

“Yeah, when I kissed you, you saw my past and everything.” He explained with a cocky smile, but then looked playfully confused when Liz started to shake her head ‘no’. “What?”

“I’m sorry. I tried thinking back, but I just can’t seem to remember ever seeing your past flash in my mind when we kissed.”

“Really?” Max questioned as he inched closer to her lips.

“Oh yeah.” Liz whispered low while she nodded her head until Max’s lips pressed up against hers and slowly pulled away. “Mmmm.” Liz hummed, biting in her lower lip while she savored the taste with her eyes closed.

“Am I the King yet?” Max asked huskily while he nuzzled the tip of his nose on the crook of her neck, taking in her erotic scent that drove him crazy.

“No.” Liz murmured seductively, pulling Max down and tasted from his lips again, whining when she felt him abruptly pull away.

“Oh, sorry.” Max apologized quickly before he was pulled down again to connect their lips, but then began talking in between each kiss. “I…just…wanted…to...know…”

“Max, mmm, you’re the King. Now shut up.” Liz whined seductively, as she push Max down on his back to tack control of the kiss while Max laughed in surprise and enjoyment of her hunger for him.

“And you’re the Queen.” He replied, feeling her cheeks rise in a smile and then pulled back to see her glowing face and noticed that the color was returning to her cheeks. He wondered if maybe all she needed was TLC from him to feel better, but then shrugged the idea when he thought of how ludicrous the idea sounded and returned to ravishing his, always dub, Queen.


Phoenix Police Precinct

“Yeah. I got.” Wess spoke into the telephone that was pinched between his ear and shoulder as he rolled from on desk to the other in his thrift type office chair.

‘You sure?’

“Dom. I got it man.” He yelled irritated by the question and pulled out a file from underneath the clutter of all his paperwork that engulfed his desk. He opened the top layer and looked at the surveillance picture of a Spanish man walking along with a tall brunette, and then grabbed what was left of his Subway foot-long and shoved it into his mouth. “I’m looking at it right now.” He mumbled as he chewed.

‘On both of them?’

“Dom? What did you say? Did you say both of them? Yes I got both. One Isabel Evans Ramirez and one Jesse Esteban Ramirez. Residence in Baltimore. Husband head of a litigation department. Yes. Yes. The works. These two are like the freaking Brady bunch, it’s scary.”

‘Great. See you soon.’

“Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. This better be worth it though is all I’m saying.” Wess declared skeptically as he struggled to place the straw in his mouth and then sucked up whatever remained of his Pepsi until he heard the famous ‘no more cola’ song when he slurped air.

‘Trust me. It is.’

“It better be.”

‘Later Wess.’

“Later.”


Max/Liz’s Room

Later on that night


“God, I love you.” Max whispered to Liz, who was sleeping on her stomach while Max traced the line down her bare back, from between her shoulder blades to the point on her lower back where the sheets covered her.

He had been unable to sleep again, like every night since he escaped the Eagle Rock Military Base. Every time he would shut his eyes, all he could see is Liz. Beaten and crying. Her hand pressed up against the glass to match with his. Nothing in the world could make him forget that. Nothing. One thing he learned about Liz that night was, even though the bestowed upon her the same torture as they did him, if not more, she never said who he really was. She would die for him as he would for her, but never in Liz’s life, would there be a situation where their lives were on the line…only with his. And now, their baby would be born to live in the same despair if he didn’t find a way to end this alien search.

In his restless nights, he watched Liz toss and turn as well. Crying in her sleep. He tried to console her while she slept, discovering the only way she could sleep peacefully, was if she was safely held by him. A thing he found kind of strange, the fact that she was endanger because of him, yet felt safe with him. Something he could never understand fully…or maybe too much. He knew the exact repercussions and dangers that he would come upon if he held Liz the day she was shot, and yet, he still did and no matter who was after him because of that, he didn’t care, just as long as she was with him.

His thoughts were put on hold when he noticed the doorknob turning slowly. He quickly pulled the covers up to cover Liz and swung his leg over the bed to put on his boxer briefs and jeans. Before he could pull up his jeans, the door opened slightly and Michael’s head popped in.

“Michael?” Max questioned confused, wondering what he was doing up.

“Max?” Liz called out, sitting up on the bed with the sheets held tightly to her.

“It’s ok. It’s Michael. Go back to sleep.” Max whispered, signalling her to go back to sleep, but knew she wouldn’t until he returned to sleep as well.


“Not a good idea, Maxwell.” Michael advised, seeing Max’s head snap to him and look at him quzzically. Michael pushed open the door a litle bit more to reveal Maria standing behind him clutching on to a pillow that covered her mouth.

“What’s wrong?” Max asked, knowing that if Michael brought Maria along, it couldn’t be anything good.

“Maxell. There’s someone out there.”
