“So if he’s your one and only, and you get married, and start a family…he’ll be willing to raise a child who may be magical…?”

Serena may not realise it, but she’s quoting my dream there… To be married to Max, to have a family with him… Of course we don’t know if that is possible – the child part I mean. Max is different, and that may mean that questions about children are academic…

I do hope not though…I know that it won’t be easy, and even without the possible magical powers I would imagine that it would be far from straightforward, but I think that Max would be willing to face it, just as I would be any possible alien powers…

“And you’ll be able to handle worrying about a human husband and then a child who is more than that…?”

If only Serena knew… Max is far from human…

"I'd be thrilled to raise a magical child," Max responds softly. "If she were mine and Liz's."

I look up at him and right at that moment he looks down, our gazes meeting. I think that we both know that if something like that happened, there would be more than just magic to deal with… We each bring our own complication to this relationship, but if it comes to it, we’ll deal… I smile softly at Max’s words and mouth ‘I love you’ silently before looking back at Serena.

Apparently she hasn’t finished, and now she goes on to mention the complication of demons and them attacking Max or our theoretical child.

“How do you know for sure that everythign will be ok. Liz, every day we fight demons, just barely make it with our lives sometimes, and now you've brought him into this, is he prepared to see demons day in and day out, especially if they attack him for being in the way of us?"

I bite my lip, not wanting to think about this. I don’t want to put Max in danger…it’s the one reason I can think of why I shouldn’t be with him, but yet even that can’t make me give him up… I love Max, the last thing that I want is to make his life any more perilous than it already is… The fact is that Serena is right though…if he is with me, he’s going to have to face them, and that’s another of the reasons I told him the truth today as I did… He’s already in danger, he deserves to know the truth about why…

"I'll face anything to be with Liz…I think it's wonderful that you're using your abilities to help people. Maybe there will be ways that I can help her. Or you and Ms. Brennan, too. I don't have to be an extra burden to you."

I smile softly at his words as I hear their deep emotion. I take a breath and look back at Serena. “Maybe I’m being selfish bringing him into this Serena, but I believe what Max says…” I trail off a moment, searching for the words I need to find. “You asked me about being married, being a mother, well yes, those are things I want. I know that it won’t be simple, or easy, but our lives are far from that anyway… Given the craziness of our lives, I want some normal too… I want be loved and to love, to be married and have a family…and I want those things with Max…” I fall silent again then, feeling that I have said enough.

I nod silently at Liz's response and look between the 2 of them again.


God, Liz has found her perfect man, where's mine? She found him so easily and she's totally in love with him, why can't I find my right guy that I know is right for me?


"Ok, fine....then I support this. But be warned I will be cautious about it,ok? Just don't push it farther then your ready for ok Lizzy?", I sigh getting up and hugging her. "Don't take it to fast".

I shrugged after a moment as I waited for Isabel's response. "Maybe they were just called in by an angry teacher who wanted to talk them about their obvious public displays of affection?" She suggests and I lift an eyebrow in doubt. "Or maybe it was something else." She add's.

The last bell has rung and school is getting out. "Iz, you want to go to the Crashdown and get something to eat while we talk more about this entire situation? I think we really need to figure out what's going on." I had been trying not to be too impulsive, but I'm still not able to forget that black box. "I still don't understand that box." I muttered softly as I found myself thinking back to trying to open it.

Sitting in the booth, I glance up as I notice several teens entering. High School must be out, I mused. It was just as well, maybe this afternoon I would gain my answers. Sighing, I glanced back down at the artwork I had nearly completed for my sign. This occult type shop was going to be a blast and I honestly can't remember a time when my art came out as good as it was.

With a grin, I glanced up as I saw a girl sitting in what seemed to be relative frustration. She was rather attractive and I couldn't help but grin slightly as I flipped over my art book to an empty page and drew out a quick red rose. Coloring it in swiftly, I then tossed it on the floor before concentrating on having it lift and move until it was resting before her.

I'd even written a quick note on the bottom,
What is a beautiful woman doing on her own?
Why not come and join me for a coke until your friends arrive?

I hadn't signed it, and even so I kept my gaze on her smiling as I waited to see how she would respond when she unfolded it.

I'm sitting here frustrated because nobody is answering me, I'm left out of everything lately and its driving me nuts. Then out of nowhere this note, shows up in front of me a beautiful drawn red rose on a napkin, that says come join me til your friends arrive he was cute enough and why not...its not like anyone else cares about me.

I smile in his direction, I stand up and walk towards him, what beautiful eyes...I stand in front of him, "Hi My name is Maria" I hold the napkin in my hand...

I smiled as the girl came over with the napkin in her hand. She seemed much older then I was certain she was. Then again, most could never tell my exact age. Which was fine with me. "My name is Maria." She tells me as she stands by my table.

Standing up, I extend my hand in greeting taking hers gently as I lift it to my lips in an old fashioned gentlemanly way. Kissing her knuckles ever breifly, I grin before releasing her hand slowly. "My name's Rance. Welcome. Please, have a seat." I smile, my emerald gaze taking in everything about her as I simply show her with a look that I find her attractive.

I could almost hear the wheels turning in my head as I looked at her.

Just talking about having children with Liz makes me feel closer to her. It might never happen but I find myself floating in a sea of warm feelings. Married to Liz. Children. How wonderful could that be?

“…Given the craziness of our lives, I want some normal too… I want be loved and to love, to be married and have a family…and I want those things with Max…” she says.

Normal. I spend all of my life pretending to be normal but I’m not. I want all those things. Things I thought I could never have. Marriage. Kids. We’ll never be completely normal, but I want to try.

“I want those things, too,” I whisper to her. My hand is already resting on top of hers, my other arm wrapped around her waist, but these words find an identical chord in my own heart. I rub her hand under mine as I turn to gaze into her beautiful eyes. The most beautiful eyes in the world…

I almost miss Serena’s next words, but I’m glad I don’t. She’s changed her mind. She’s going to support us. I know it would be happening regardless, but it’s good to have one fewer persons to argue with about it. Too bad there isn’t some way to make Michael and Isabel feel the same way.

“Thank you, Serena,” I tell her. “You won’t be sorry. I promise. I love your sister and I only want to help all of you.”

He's cute in that Adams family creepy kind of way, he kisses my hand and I sit down in his booth don't want to be rude, at least he's not avoiding me like my 'so called' friends are. I mean really how long does it take to call someone back.

I'm being rude, I'm just staring at him. "Nice to meet you Rance, that's an interesting name." I smile at him. "Are you new in town?" I look at him curiously...

I look at her with a smile as she sits down. "Yes, I just got into town last night. It seems like it took forever to drive here with all the sight-seeing I did on my way from New York." I grinned as I turned away for a moment to motion toward the waitress since I was ready to order food again. I'd already been here for two meals, working on my designs. "I'm actually going to be opening a new store right here in Roswell."

I looked back at Maria, "Have you lived here all your life?" And before she could think he was one of those stupid people, "And no, I'm not going to ask you if you have alien stories. I'm not an alien maniac like many of the tourists." I winked as I finished speaking.

He's charming in an odd way but hey at least he's talking to me.."Well then may I ask what brings you to this stink hole we call Roswell..and yes I obviously have lived here all my life can't you tell..I just love all this alien chaos...With all the wierdness that goes on around here one might wonder if they are living and breathing right under our noses" Sarcasm drenched her breath..

Ok Michael would have kicked my ass for saying that but he is none the wiser, and it was a joke, he probably won't get it anyway..
