This is my first attempt at writing so please do not be to harsh. My name is James and I just started watching the show on the Sci-fi channel not long ago. Its pretty cool show and I like to write so I thought I would give it a try. This story is not following the show entrely, I have everything the same unstil after the episode end of the world, then its all my story after that. The main couple is Max and Liz.
This story is rated Teen/mature
I do not own Roswell or any of the character are anythig related to the show.
This is part one with many more to follow I am sure:-)
“Is everything alright Elizabeth?” The older woman asked from the living room doorway.
Liz smiled, glad to see her dear friend standing there. “Oh yes Sara, everything is fine, just a letter from home. My father is not improving from his stroke as the doctors would have liked and my mother has asked me to come home for awhile and help her.”
“Oh, I am sorry to hear that.” Sara shook her head. “Do you plan to go?”
Liz smiled half heartedly, “OH Sara I don’t want to return to Roswell, it is the last thing that I want to do but my mother needs me and I don’t want to let her down. I know she would not have asked if it were not very important to her, so I think that I must go.”
“I understand, what about Jaysa, will you be taking her along?” Her friend asked.
Liz nodded that she would, “I have no idea how long I may be and I can not bear the thought of being apart from her for long. Sara I know that I don’t have the right to expect you to just drop everything and come with us but do you think perhaps you could arrange it?”
Sara smiled, “You know that you don’t even have to ask, there’s not anything in this world that would keep me from being there with you and my little sweet baby girl." She said as she sat down on the sofa, "What about him, do you think he will still be there in Roswell?”
“I don’t know for sure, Maria said in her last letter that he had finished his internship at Albuquerque University hospital, so he may be home by now. IT won’t matter though, I have no reason to see him and I am positive that he won’t seek me out at all.” Liz said as she tucked the letter inside her desk draw.
“But if he hears that your back and sees Jaysa with you he might start to ask questions. You are taking a real chance here.” Sara warned her friend.
“He has no idea that she is his daughter, and that is exactly how I plan to keep it.” Liz said as she got up and headed up the stairs of her sea side home.
“Well you know how I feel about that so I won’t bring it up again.” Sara told her following her up to Jaysa’s room.
Liz opened her daughter’s bedroom door and watched her playing with her toys. “Yes Sara, I know how you feel, but you also know my reasons for not telling him so let’s not get into it again please.”
“Alright, alright I’m not saying another word about it. So when are we going to make this trip when do you want to leave?” Sara asked.
“Is tomorrow to soon I would really like to be there as soon as possible.” Liz asked.
“You know me I can be ready any time. I will start packing.” Sara said as she headed down the hall. Liz called out thank you, then walked over and sat down next to Jaysa on the floor.
“Hello Mommy, are you going to play with me?” Jaysa asked in her usual sweet way.
“Not right now, I just wanted to tell you that we are all going away for a bit. You, me and Aunt Sara are going on a trip. We are going to Roswell remember Mommy telling you about Roswell before?” Liz asked as the little girl nodded that she did. “Well we are going to see my mommy for a while, she needs us right now because my daddy got real sick and he can’t help her run there restaurant any more, so I am going to need you to be a good girl, I don't want you to use your special ability while we are there ok.” Liz asked her daughter.
“Not even changing the color of my dress when I don’t like it?” Jaysa asked.
“No, not even changing the color of anything, you have to promise not to make your toys fly through the air, and no starting fires when your angry, no healing your booboos, and no listening to peoples quite thoughts ok?” Liz explained. “You have to behave like other children and limit yourself ok.”
Jaysa shook her head, “Alright, I promise mommy I be real good and not use my special ability at all.”
Liz whispered into her ear. “I love you sooooo much.”
Jaysa smiled, “I love you more.”
“How much more?” Liz asked right on cue.
“This much more.” The little girl replied opening her arms really wide.
Liz smiled; “OH and how much is this much?” she asked pretending not to know.
“More then the whole world.” The little girl laughed as she wrapped her arms around her mother’s neck and kissed her. Liz rolled back laughing as the little girl smothered her with kisses.
“Alright, how about you help me put these things away and we can go make some dinner with Sara, I think we are having tater tots?” Liz asked her daughter. Jaysa shrilled with delight and leaped out of her mother’s arms and out the door yelling for her Auntie Sara. “Hey I thought we were both going to pick these up she called out after her.”
Liz let out a small sigh and set about picking up the small Lego pieces her daughter had been building with. Her mind began to wonder as she put the toys away, Sara was right about one thing going back to Roswell after the past five years was going to be difficult. When she left it was with a vow never to go back but now faced with this situation what choice did she really have. Besides her mother, Maria was the only other person she had communicated with, and even her letters where careful not to mention too much about Max. Maria knew how hard leaving had been on Liz. Max was still very much the love of her life but knowing that she could not be with him hurt all the time. IT was the sound of Jaysa’s voice calling her that brought her back to the present. “OK I am coming.”
It was hours later when Liz was finally able to lay down on her bed and close her eyes; she could hardly believe that the night had flown by so fast. She pulled the blankets up trying to clear her mind of the million things she still needed to get done before they left on their trip. Thoughts of Max kept creeping back into her head, seeing him again would be so hard. She knew that the time apart had not changed the way she felt about him, but she also knew that she had grown stronger. She thought about the last few weeks that she had been in Roswell, so much had happened, so much pain and heart ache during that time. She never really understood how much her life was going to change that night she pretended to be with Kyle in order to push Max away from her. Having Max come from the future had changed the way she looked at life; she had been given information about her friends and family that she carried with her always. IT was that information that caused her to eventually run away from Roswell and from Max. Even after Max had ended things with her because of what he thought had happened between her and Kyle she still some how hoped that they might be able to find away to be together maybe it was that hope that caused her to go to his house that night. Strange things had began happening to her body, she did not know then that Max having healed her, changed the way her brain functioned, allowing her to use more of her mind then any other human. She was suddenly able to do things like Max and the others, and it terrified her. She didn’t know who else to turn to so she went to Max that night. She remembered it so vividly, almost as if it were happening all over again. She climbed up the trellis to his room and tapped on his window. She had been crying and fresh tears sprang to her eyes as soon as she saw his face. Max was angry with her but seeing her like this he opened the window and helped her in. Liz didn’t say a word she just wrapped her arms around his neck and held on tight. Max held her for a few moments then pulled her gently back, “Liz what is it? What’s the matter, tell me what is wrong?”
Liz wiped her eyes, “I’m not sure Max, but so much bad has happened, you and I aren’t even friends, my dad having a heart attack and now something is happening to me, something I can’t explain.”
Max pulled back at the mention of them no longer being friends, it brought back so much pain for him as well. “What do you mean that something is happening to you, what exactly?”
She ignored the agitation in his voice, “I don’t know how to explain it exactly, it’s a feeling I guess, something is happening to me I am changing some how but I …”
Max shook his head, “Liz I don’t know what to say, maybe you should try to talk with Maria.” Max told her trying not to sound cold.
“That’s it then…” Liz snapped feeling angry all the sudden.
Max did not hold back his anger either, “What did you expect after what has happened, you sleep with Kyle then you won’t even talk to me, what did you expect me to be all oh poor Liz come on in and trample on me some more.”
“This was a mistake…“ Liz said as fresh tears ran down her cheeks. She headed straight for the window but the latch was stuck and she couldn’t get it open, “Stupid, dumb, window” She pulled as hard as she could but it wouldn’t budge.
Max let out a heavy sigh and walked over to her, “Wait,” he said softly some of the anger gone from his voice. Liz was to upset she kept trying to open the window just wanting to get away from him, “No forget it, I said I should not have come, I won’t bother you again.”
Max pulled Liz into his arms and turned her around to face him, “What did you expect Liz, we have barely spoken two words since that night, you won’t tell me what is really going on and then you show up here, what were you expecting?” Max asked trying to hold back his own emotions.
“I don’t know…I guess I just wanted …wanted…” Liz asked trying to stop crying.
“What?” Max asked his mouth just inches from hers. Liz searched his eyes and for a moment she couldn’t control herself, “This” She whispered and pulled his head down into a deep passionate kiss. Max didn’t pull away, if anything he pulled her closer, he had missed her so much and he wanted this more then anything to hold her to be with her. They both got caught up in the moment. Emotions that had been hidden and denied for months now came pouring out as their embrace grew more intense. Liz didn’t care, she wanted this, to be in his arms, to hold him close even if it was just for this moment then so be it, she would deal with the consequence later, right now she needed him and that was the only thought in her mind. Max felt the same, he knew he should stop, that he should insist that they talk but he couldn’t bring himself to pull away. They exchanged no words as their kisses grew in intensity each knew what the other was feeling, the overwhelming desire to be together to express their love for one another was all that matter as they held each other close. He was so gentle, so kind and caring, she knew in her heart that when they made love for the first time it would be wonderful and it was. The visions in Liz mind drifted slowly away into a blur until she woke up alone in her bed.
Max sat up suddenly his face flush and his heart pounding, “Get out of my head, just one night of sleep without thinking of her or that night is that so much to ask for!” He growled out between clenched teeth. He looked over at the clock it was already past 6:00 anyway. Might as well get up he thought to him self, he rolled out of bed and stumbled into the kitchen, “Did you stay over again last night, I swear I am going to start charging you rent, I mean it.” Max teased as he sat down at the counter and poured him self a cup of coffee.
“You love when I stay over and you know it, who else is going to make such delicious coffee for you two in the morning.” Maria teased back. “Besides he doesn’t like me to drive home alone late at night.”
“That’s not why he has you stay over, that’s just what he tells you. He really has you stay so you will cook him breakfast in the morning.” Max told her.
“Hey shut up you’ll blow my cover and then I’ll end up having to cook my own breakfast.” Michael told Max as he walked into the kitchen and wrapped his arms around Maria’s waist.
“When are you going to do right by this girl and finally marry her?” Max asked as he sipped his coffee ignoring the look Michael give him.
“Oh be careful don’t mention the M word around Michael so early in the morning you’ll get him all freaked out.” Maria laughed.
“You haven’t shown him your gift I gave you last night yet have you?” Michael asked as he kissed Maria on the top of her nose. Maria smiled and shook her head no. Michael pulled her hand up and held it out for Max to see, “This proves I am not afraid to talk about the M word any longer.”
Max looked over and much to his surprise there was a beautiful diamond ring on Maria’s right hand. “Oh Man, are you two serious this isn’t a joke?”
Maria laughed, “It better not be.”
Michael smiled, “Its no joke, that diamond is the real deal, we are engaged as of 9:00 last night.”
“That’s great, I am so happy for you guys.” Max told.
“Ok so were meeting with Alex, Is, Tess, and Kyle for dinner at the Crashdown tonight at 7:00, you’ll be there right.” Maria reminded Max as she served them both some pancakes.
“Of course, I may be just a few minutes late, I have rounds this afternoon but I will be there you can count on me.” Max told them as they ate there breakfast. He was happy for the two of them, they had some ruff times but they always found each other in the end. He knew Michael was getting ready to ask Maria to marry him he was actually long over due. He wondered if Maria was going to ask Liz to come back for the wedding, he knew that the two of them were still in touch, but he made a point of not asking it made things easy not knowing where she was or who she was with. He pushed the thought out of his head it was better this way he told him self.
Ok so there it is the end of part one. Drop me a note let me know what your thougths are, but remember my ego is fragile.
See ya

Chap 2
Liz looked over her shoulder at her daughter, “Are you excited to meet grandma finally?”
“Yep, do you think she is gonna like me?” Jaysa asked.
“I know that she is going to love you.” Liz told them. “You remember what I told you about your special abilities right.” The little girl nodded her head and smiled a mischievous smile. Liz gave her a serious look, “Jaysa Lynn I am being serious about this, promise mommy and Auntie Sara that you will behave.” Liz warned her.
“I promise mommy, I will remember.” She told her.
Liz smiled as they pulled the car into the back driveway of the Crashdown. It was strange; everything looked as it did that morning she left. She took in a deep breath and let out a small sigh, this was so strange she did not think she would ever see this place again and now here she was. “My parents live above the restaurant; we can go up the back stairs.” Liz explained as they got out of the car.
She held Jaysa hand as they climbed up the stairs together. Liz heard her mother’s voice as she entered into the living room. “Mom are you here, its Liz, I’m home.”
Nancy Parker came running out of her bedroom, “Liz is that you, oh it has been so long. I have missed you so much.” She told her daughter as tears filled her eyes. Liz hugged her mom, her own eyes filling with tears. It was the gentle tugging on her pant that caught her attentions. Nancy stood back and looked down at her young granddaughter, “OH and who is this precious little thing?” she asked pretending not to know.
“I’m Jaysa.” She chimed in. “I’m your only grand baby.”
“Well yes you are.” Nancy cried, “Oh Liz she looks so much like you. Can grandma hold you?”
Jasysa nodded her head and laughed as Nancy scooped her up into her arms and carried over to the couch. She motioned for both Sara and Liz to sit down as well.
“Mom this is Sara, she is the one I am always talking to you about.” Liz explained
“I know Sara; well I feel like I do at least we have talked so many times on the phone haven’t we.” Nancy said. Sara smiled and agreed that all that was missing was the face to go with the voice. Liz asked about her father, she listened as her mom explained everything that had been happening since they last spoke. She promised to go up to the hospital the next day to see him. They were busy catching up when Maria walked in and let out a shrill scream as she ran over and hugged Liz, “Oh my gosh, Elizabeth Parker, is that you. Nancy you didn’t tell me she was coming, no wonder I couldn’t get a hold of you by phone.”
“Well it was kind of a last minute decision to come to see my dad and to help my mom with some things.” Liz explained.
“Everyone is downstairs, you have to come say hi, they are going to freak truly.” Maria said as she pulled her friend toward the stairs. Liz looked back at her mom, who smiled at her and waved her on. “Go, Sara and I will sit and visit it will be fine.” Nancy told her.
Maria stopped Liz as they reached the bottom of the stairs, “I have to show you something first.” She waved her hand in from in front of Liz.
Liz let out a small scream, “Oh Maria is this what I think it is?”
Maria nodded her head, “He asked me last night, it was so romantic. We are getting married at the end of this month do you think you can hang around that long, I really want you to be my maid of honor.”
Liz bit her bottom lip; she knew how much this meant to her best friend, “Yea…yea of course I will. My boss has been after me for a long time to do a desert shoot, this will make him happy. Oh Maria I am so happy for you, this is great.”
Maria pulled Liz out behind her, “OK everyone guess who I found when I was upstairs checking on Nancy?” Maria asked as everyone looked up. In a moment the room erupted with hugs and greetings.
Alex was the first one to his feet, he pulled Liz into a warm embrace and kissed her cheek, “Liz I can’t believe it’s you; it’s been forever.”
“Yea, I know, it’s good to be back though.” Liz said as relief washed over her, Max was no were to be seen.
Isabel was next to give hugs, “Oh my gosh you look fabulous, living in Washington must agree with you.”
“You look beautiful too, and pregnant, Congratulation!” Liz laughed as she looked at Isabel slightly swollen tummy. “Alex that’s great, you’re going to be a daddy.” Liz teased as she hugged Alex.
They spent the next few minutes catching up. Liz explained about her father’s condition and that she was going to stay for Maria’s wedding. “I do have a little work to do; my editor wants a dessert lay out for the July issue of the magazine so I will keep myself busy with that too.”
“I have seen your work Liz its wonderful, I love the way your pictures set the scene it’s almost like they speak to you.” Tess said. Liz smiled and thanked her for the compliment.
“Tess likes them so much actually we have two of your seaside shots in the bedroom.” Kyle offered.
Liz wasn’t sure she had heard correctly but she did not want to be rude, she made a mental note though to ask Maria, “Wow that’s awesome; I think the ocean has to be my all time favorite subject matter. I actually have a small house right on the beach I really love it there.” Liz told them. The sound of the door opening caught her attention; she looked up just in time to see Max come in. She stood up and started to leave when Maria pulled her back, “Max, look who’s in town.” Maria said excitedly.
Max heart stopped for a moment as his eyes met Liz; she could tell by the look on his face he was just as uncomfortable as she was. Not wanting to be rude she smiled and quietly said hi. Max just nodded his head, and then the awkward silence began. She tried not to stare, he looked really good, he had not changed to much at all in the last five years. After a few moments she couldn’t take the quiet any longer, “Well I should go get back upstairs, Sara is there waiting with my mother.” She said trying to think of any excuse to slip out of the room.
Max must have had the same thought because he spoke at the same time as she did, “I just actually stopped in to say that I can’t stay, I have to cover for Dr. Shifts, so I’ll see you latter ok, Michael, Maria...”
It did not escape Liz attention that he did not speak to her at all. She knew he hated her, she could feel it, there was so much anger and hurt. Max wasted no time in leaving and she tried to hide how much it hurt that he was so cold towards her, “Well I guess I better go too. It was so great seeing you all…” Liz started to say when she was interrupted by her daughter Jaysa who came running up to her, Sara following close behind, “Mommy, where have you been, I thought you got lost cause you were gone so long.”
Liz scooped her daughter up into her arms and squeezed her, “No, I’m not lost just saying hi for a minute to some of my friends.” Liz said as she turned and faced everyone. They all had shocked looks on their faces, but no one so much as Maria. Trying not to make to big a deal out of the situation Liz introduced her daughter, “Jaysa this is Maria, and her fiancé Michael, and this is Isabel and her husband Alex, and this is Tess and Kyle.” Liz said not sure of the relationship that the two of them shared. “Everyone this is my daughter Jaysa, and this is my very good friend Sara.” Liz told them as she motioned over to her.
“Hi,” was all that the little girl said shyly. After a few moments of silence, Maria smiled and talked with Jaysa for a little bit, “Wow it’s nice to meet you Jaysa.”
“It’s nice to meet you too.” She answered as she yawned.
“So Liz I guess we do have some more catching up to do ugh?” Maria whispered quietly.
Liz was just about to say something when Jaysa whispered into her ear, “Mommy I am kind of tired can we go to bed now?” Liz nodded in the affirmative, “well I guess I better get going, mother hood is a 24 hour a day job.” She said trying not to behave as uncomfortable as she was feeling. The three of them headed upstairs as everyone watched them go.
Sara told Liz that her mother had made up the guest bedroom for her and that she thought that Jaysa and Liz could share her old bedroom. That was fine she wanted to keep Jaysa close to her, she had the funny feeling that something wasn’t quite right but she shook it off telling herself it was just nerves over seeing the others and Max. After helping her daughter into her pj’s and tucking her in, she changed into her own sweats and pulled out her journal. It still helped her best to process her thoughts if she actually wrote them down. She sat down in front of her window and began writing, seeing everyone after so long was really wonderful. They all looked so good; Isabel was so beautiful she was practically radiant. I know that sounds so cliché but it was true she thought to her self. Alex and Is made such a sweet couple, they just seem to fit so well. Michael looked good too, Maria said he had started working out and it really showed. She was so happy for Maria and Michael, so many times she thought that the two of them would not make it but Michael had grown up a lot over the last two years, he had come to realize just how much Maria meant to him. Seeing the two of them together made her feel good, secure some how, it gave her hope in a strange funny sort of way and she couldn’t explain why. She was most confused by Kyle and Tess, if she were going strictly by appearances then it looked as if the two of them were defiantly together, but this did not make any since, she thought that Max and her would be together by now. The truth was Max didn’t pay any particularly special attention to Tess either. Thinking about Max caused her to pause for a moment, he looked gorgeous from merely physical point of view; add that on to the way she still felt about him and she found that she could some up seeing him again in just one word, “Painful!” Yea that pretty much summed it all up for her, she underlined the word three times to give emphasizes to her emotions.
Maria whispered into Michaels ear, “Can you catch a ride home with Is and Alex, I need to go up and speak with Liz?”
Michael knew this was coming, “You didn’t know either did you?”
Maria shook her head, “No and I really feel the need to go find out what is going on with her ok?”
“No problem, are you coming over after or just heading back to your place?” He asked.
“Not sure, can we just leave up in the air for now, if I show up great if not you’ll know I am fine?” Maria told him. Michael nodded in agreement then kissed her goodbye.
“Are you going to tell Max about Jaysa?” she asked.
Michael shook his head, “Yea, I am. Better that it comes from a friend then hearing it from someone else don’t you think? I don’t think he has ever fully gotten past the betrayal he felt over the whole Kyle thing, how do you think he is going to react to the fact that she got pregnant with some other guys kid, its going to hurt no matter what.” he told her.
Maria let out a heavy sigh, “I love you.” She said as he headed for the stairs.
Liz was just finishing getting ready for bed when she heard a soft knock on the door. She knew who it was already; even though Maria hadn’t said anything her thoughts came through loud and clear. Hearing other people’s thoughts was one of the things that had changed after Max had healed her. She opened the door quietly, “Come on in.” was all she said.
“You have a lot of explaining to do.” Maria told her as she walked into the room.
“OK, where would you like me to start?” Liz told her.
“Let’s try at the beginning. How could you have a child and not tell me, since when do you and I keep things from each other?” Maria asked feeling a little hurt.
I’m sorry, I guess I thought if I told you I was pregnant then you would drop everything here in Roswell and come running to be with me.” Liz explained.
“Yea so, that is what best friends do for one another.” Maria said.
“Maria if you had come to Washington to be with me, Michael would have followed and there was the chance then that Max would find out that I was pregnant and that was not something I could have happen.” Liz tried to explain.
Maria looked over at Jaysa and shook her head, “Liz you’re not telling me something here, how old is Jaysa anyway, she doesn’t look like she could be more then 3 or 4 years old.”
“She is 4, she just turned 4 actually.” Liz stated as a matter of fact.
“Maria shook her head, “why would Max have anything to do with you being pregnant?”
“Max is Jaysa father.” Liz told her.
Maria sat down at the window seat and tried to comprehend what Liz just said, “Liz, I don’t understand, what your saying isn’t making any sense at all. It’s been five years since you left, how can Max be the father if she just now turned 4 years old?”
“My pregnancy lasted longer then 9 months, I was pregnant for a full 12 months, maybe a little longer even. I know it’s hard to believe but it’s true. I guess it must be because Max is part alien, I don’t know for sure. I just know that when I was about 8 months pregnant I was able to feel things from her almost as if she were communicating with me on some level. I knew that her mind was developing faster then normal babies would but her other organs, lungs, kidneys, liver, all seemed as if they were developing much more slowly. Sara was a midwife, I met her when I was still in my 8 month, she helped me through so many things, because of the special abilities I have developed I knew that she could be trusted, she has been with me ever since. She was there when Jaysa was born; for the most part it was a normal delivery nothing to unusual happened at all. She weighed 8 pounds and 7 ounces, you could not tell her apart from any other full term human baby, and that’s the way things stayed for awhile. Then when she turned 10 months old we began to notice things that were not so normal, when she cried and was upset, small fires would start, she was able to levitate small objects and move them about the room. By the time she began talking, she started speaking her thoughts to me without using words and she can read peoples thoughts and emotions just like I can. She can heal her self and others to just like Max, there is probably more that she will be able to do as she learns how to use her abilities.” Liz explained.
“So you were pregnant then when you left, but you just didn’t know it?” Maria asked still reeling from the shock of this knew information
“I was so upset that night that I went over to see Max, my father had just had his first heart attack and I was just beginning to notice the changes that were going on inside of me. I can’t fully explain it Maria, I felt like I was being pulled to go to Max that night, I know that doesn’t make any since it was probably my imagination creating the situation that I so desperately wanted to happen I don’t know for sure. I do know that when I got there I was hysterical and that I wasn’t thinking clearly, things between Max and I just happened and before I knew it we were making love. Afterwards we didn’t talk, he just held me in his arms and for the first time in weeks I felt safe and like things were going to really be alright.” Liz confided in Maria as tears filled her eyes.
Maria eyes filled with tears, “Why did you leave then, I mean if you had worked things out with Max then why go?”
“Max fell asleep; as I was laying there I began to feel guilty …guilty about what I had allowed to happen, about breaking promise to future Max. I tried to push the thoughts from my mind but it only got worse. I got up and got dressed then I went home. When I got home I thought about telling Max everything that had happened with Future Max, but then something happened. I sat down on my window seat and suddenly I had a vision, it was of the future, it was a vision of Max, and you, Michael and the others and you were all being killed one by one because of me being with Max. There was a terrible war taking place, Max‘s enemies had come to earth. I saw my parents turned into slaves, everything as we know it was destroyed.” Liz said as tears streamed down her face. “I had to leave; I couldn’t allow those terrible things to happen. When I found out I was pregnant I decided to just keep it to myself. I made my parents promise not to say a word about it, I didn’t know what else to do.”
“Liz that’s awful, I had no idea.” Maria said as she hugged her friend, “there is something you need to know though, Max and Tess never have gotten together, and the truth is she is with Kyle now.”
Liz wiped the tears from her eyes, “I don’t understand how that can be?”
“Its true, they are living together now, I don’t really know all of what happened between her and Max but they are not together, at least not in that way. I know her and Max are pretty tight friends but once he went away to medical school she seemed to get closer and closer to Kyle. When Max came back he pretty much told Tess she needed to follow her heart and be with Kyle.” Maria explained to her.
“This doesn’t make any sense, the vision I saw, it was so real so vivid, Max coming from the future all of it was based on he and Tess being together.” Liz told Maria as she got up and walked over to the window. Was it all a lie had she wasted the last five years of her life for nothing? All the pain, all the sleepless nights, none of it made any sense to her now.
“Liz maybe its time to talk to Max, tell him what happened five years ago, tell him about the vision, maybe its not to late.” Maria offered.
“You saw how he barely looked at me, he hates me.” Liz said as she sniffled in.
“You don’t know for sure how he feels, seeing you tonight was a shock that’s all.” Maria tried to encourage her.
“You’re wrong, I do know how he feels I can read what a person is feeling, and I can hear his thoughts remember. He was not just shocked to see me he was angry, and hurt, very hurt.” Liz said feeling guilty all over again. After a few minutes she let out a heavy sigh and sat down on the bed next to Jaysa, “Besides, it wouldn’t just be telling him about the past, how do I tell him about her? When I made the decision not to tell Max about her I thought it was because I was protecting him and all the people I love, I knew there would be consequences and I accepted that, but now, now I am so confused I don’t know what to think.”
“Just tell him Liz, he will understand.” Maria told her.
“Will he, do you really think so? Would you understand if this happened to you?” Liz said trying not to sound so defensive.
“Liz what it comes down to, is he has a right to know. Maybe…” Maria began but didn’t finish.
“Maybe what?” Liz asked already knowing her answer before she said it. “You were going to say maybe I should have told him everything from the very beginning.” Liz said.
“I forget you can read my thoughts.” Maria said.
Liz just smiled and tried to make light, “Yeah well I try to ignore the thoughts about Michael, but you’re right, I have questioned myself about this so many times. The truth is it makes it easier on me if I tell myself I am doing this for everyone else if I am being noble and brave, sacrificing myself for the others, when in reality maybe it was fear that has motivated me all along. Maybe I just didn’t want to face that possibility.” Liz said softly as fresh tears filled her eyes again.
Fear, fear of what?” Maria asked puzzled by Liz last statement.
“Of having Max tell me that he didn’t love me, of having him look me in the eyes and say that he wanted to follow his destiny with Tess. That he regretted being with me when all along he longed to be with her. Maybe I didn’t tell him the truth because I wanted to run away again, I ran away once before remember right after he discovered who he really was, I left for that whole summer.” Liz said as she wiped her eyes.
“Liz don’t do this to yourself, don’t beat yourself up like this, remember Max did come from the future and you did have that vision those things did happen so lets just focus on that.. No matter what has happened in the past, Max deserves the truth now and so does Jaysa.” Maria told her.
Liz laughed a little, “So when did you get so smart?”
“Well what can I say every now and then I get it right.” Maria laughed.
“I will talk to Max before I leave I promise, I am not expecting to much but your right its time I stop making excuses, stop running and be honest with him, he deserves that from me.” Liz admitted then she whispered softly, “He always did.”
“Wow it’s late, do you still have the old sleeping bag I can use to crash here, I am so tired and I do not want to drive anywhere right now.” Maria told her.
Liz got up and walked over to get the bag out of the closet, “I hope it doesn’t smell all musty it’s been a while since this has been used.”
“I’ll be fine, just give me a blanket and pillow and I can sleep anywhere remember.” Maria unrolled the bag and slipped off her shoes, she was just about to lay down when she stopped, she was t about to speak when Liz answered her, “Yea that is a good idea, I will be sure to talk with her too.”
“Don’t do that; it still freaks me out, let me actually say the words then you can comment.” Maria said laughing.
“Sorry.” Liz smiled. Jaysa began tossing a bit so both Liz and Maria deicide it was time to get some sleep they did not want a cranky four year old on there hands.
Michael wasn’t sure how he should tell Max about Liz kid. After thinking about it he decided the direct approach was probably the best way. Max was watching TV when he walked in. “Hey I thought you had to cover a late shift or something?”
“I made that up, tell me something did Maria know Liz was coming into town tonight or was that little meeting really a coincidence?” Max voiced sounded a bit agitated.
Michael ignored his tone, “No she did not know. Liz said that her mom needed her, guess Mr. Parker is not doing to well ugh?”
Max had seen Liz father a few times during rotations and the truth was he was struggling health wise, “No he’s not he keeps having recurring blood clots that have resulted in several small strokes.”
“That’s ruff, he has always been a decent guy I am sorry to hear it.” Michael said as he sat down across from Max.
Max looked over at Michael he could tell he was holding something back, “What …?”
“Well we found out tonight that Liz has a kid, a little girl her name is Jaysa.” Michael explained. “Maria didn’t even know about the kid, she is over there talking to Liz about it now. Liz never said a word about her or who the father is.”
The look on Max face said it all; it was a mixture of hurt and anger. “Do you know how old she is, the little girl I mean?” Max asked.
“Not sure 3 maybe 4, she is really kind of small so it’s was hard to tell. Why what does it matter how old she is?” Michael asked. “You weren’t thinking this kid is yours were you.”
Max didn’t say anything right away. He ran his hands through his hair, “Liz and I were together the night before she left, and we didn’t use any kind of protection so it was possible, but if she is only four then she can’t be mine. That night happened over five years ago.” Max told him as he headed to his room. “I’m beat, I’m going to get some sleep, thanks for the heads up though Michael I appreciate that.”

When I made the decision not to tell Max about her I thought it was because I was protecting him and all the people I love, I knew there would be consequences and I accepted that, but now, now I am so confused I don’t know what to think.”

this is a Max and Liz story.
I do not own anything to do with Roswell
Liz woke up early the next morning to go to the hospital to see her father. She decided for this first visit she should leave Jaysa at home with Sara. Liz walked into the hospital room not sure of what to expect. She had always seen her father in the best of health; she was not sure how she was going to react to seeing him sick. Liz smiled as he tried to sit up some, “Hey dad, it’s so good to see you.” She said.
“Oh there’s my girl, it’s been so long Lizzie, too long as far as I am concerned.” Jeff scolded his daughter as he opened up his arms for a hug.
“So mom said that you can’t wait to get out of this place, I bet it is the food ugh?” Liz laughed trying to keep things light hearted.
“Oh Lizzie I hate this place so many people coming in and out all the time and I just miss being at home with your mom.” Jeff explained.
“I know. Maybe it won’t be too much longer. I am going to talk to the doctor today.” Liz told him. Just as Liz finished speaking Max walked through the door. She could tell right away that he had not expected to see her there so early in the morning. She was puzzled as to why he was coming to see her father; she didn’t think that he was her father’s doctor.
“Dr. Evans, look who has come all the way from Washington to spend some time with me.” Jeff said.
“Oh.” Was all Max said as he struggled to keep his composure. “Well Mr. Parker, Dr. Thomas asked me to check in on you this morning, he had an emergency so I am covering his rounds for him. That medicine that we started you on seems to have stabilized you for now. We are not seeing any more clots form and that is good news.” Max said as he looked over the chart.
“Oh that is good news. So when can I go home and get back to work?” Jeff asked.
Max shook his head, “I know you are eager to get home, but you have had a ruff time of it and well we need to be sure that this medicine is going to keep working for you. And as far as you going back to work well you need to discuss that more with Dr. Thomas alright.”
“Alright, thank you Dr.” Jeff said not hiding the disappointment in his voice.
“Well I better be going, enjoy your visit but don’t tire your self out.” Max said as he walked out the door. Liz followed after him, “I will be right back dad I just have a few questions for Max my self.”
Max was half way down the hall when he heard Liz call after him, “Max…Max…um Dr. Evans could I please have a word with you a moment?” He stopped and turned around to see Liz walking towards him.
He clenched his teeth a little, “Yes, Miss Parker, what can I do for you?” Max said as two nurses past by them.
Liz didn’t miss the fact that he had used her surname, “I had a few questions about my dad, if this is not a bad time, I promise not to take up to much of your time.” Liz asked trying not to sound as nervous as she was feeling.
Max shrugged his shoulders and glanced at his watch, “Go ahead.” Was all he said?
“Well I know you said that you didn’t know when Dr Thomas planned to release my dad, but my mother said that he probably is not going to be able to come back to cooking and running the restaurant .” Liz said.
“That’s probably true, most of the clots that have formed started in his legs then broke off, he does not get enough movement in his legs standing in one position while cooking and then sitting at his desk, plus the stress of it all it has taken its toll on him.” Max explained.
“Well my mother and I were thinking of selling the restaurant and moving them both up to be with me in Washington. I have a huge house and Settle has a top notch medical facility, do you know how long before he could make that kind of a trip?” Liz asked.
Max shook his head, he didn’t know why but all the sudden he felt as if the wind had been knocked out of him, “You want to move you parents up to Washington with you?”
“Yes, I have a house on the beach and he would be able to get a lot of rest and exercise, we…my mom and I thought it was probably for the best.” Liz said.
“Oh well, I…are you sure that you have thought this through, taking on someone who is in your dads condition can be difficult, have you talked this over with your husband?” Max asked.
“Well…what, I’m sorry…I don’t have a husband, but yes I am aware of the responsibility and my mom and Sara will be available to help me. Sara is a very good friend and she is a nurse also.” Liz offered.
“You’re not married?” Max asked trying to understand.
Liz just shook her head no. Max felt a sudden rush of emotion, he wasn’t sure if it was relief or shock, he decided to call it confusion, “Oh…I am sorry I just assumed, Michael told me last night that you had a daughter so I thought…”
Liz looked down at the floor, “OH…yea, so he told you ugh?”
“Yea, he did.” Was all that Max said.
“Listen Max I really wanted to tell you about her myself do you think that you and I could go somewhere and talk…” Liz started to say when Max cut her off his voice suddenly filled with anger.
“That’s not necessary really, you don’t owe me any explanations, and it’s been over five years since we have even seen each other so…Anyway to answer your question, he should be able to make the move in a few months but you should have your mother speak with Dr. Thomas to be sure.” Max said as he glanced back down at his watch. “Well I have to go finish rounds, good bye.”
Liz watched as he walked away, she did not even try to hide the hurt she was feeling. Tears formed in her eyes, but she quickly wiped them away as she walked back into her father’s room. “So do you think you feel up to seeing your grand daughter?”
“Yes, you should have brought her with you this morning so I could have shown her off to Dr. Evans.” Jeff said.
Liz smiled somehow she didn’t think that would have gone over to well. “I’ll bring her over just before lunch, how about that?”
Jeff nodded as the nurse came walking in. “Ok Mr. Parker time for you to get your medicine and then Dr. Evans has ordered another round of x-rays. You can wait here for him I am not sure how long it will be though they are kind of backed up down there.”
“OH that’s ok; I will just come back up later ok dad.” Liz said.
“Alright sweetie, you bring your mother too, just tell her that Maria can handle things for one hour while she comes up.” Jeff said as the nurse handed him his medication.
Liz walked out of the hospital and into the parking garage. She kept thinking about Max, she should have made more of an effort to talk to him she thought to herself.
“”Oh my gosh I am so sorry…please forgive me…I wasn’t…”Liz started to say as she glanced up for the first time. “Oh Max…I am sorry I wasn’t watching where I was going.”
“You should pay more attention. Cars drive through here with out paying attention to pedestrians.” He warned her.
“I’ll do that.” She said softly. “I thought you had more rounds to do?”
“Yeah well I would have said anything to get out of there.” Max thought to himself.
Liz tried to hide the hurt, “I see.”
“Excuse me, you see what?” Max asked sounding a bit confused.
“I meant I understand that you didn’t want to talk to me before so you lied about having to do more rounds.” Liz said, seeing the look of confusion on his face she explained, “I can read your thoughts, one of the changes that happened when you healed me, I can read peoples thoughts.”
“Oh.” Was all he said. “As for me lying you should know all about that.”
“You’re talking about that night with Kyle.” Liz said. “There is an explanation for why I did that if you would only listen.”
“I would have listened five years ago Liz, that night that we shared together it was the single most important night of my life, I would have listened then….but not now. Now I don’t want explanations its to late, I’ve moved on with my life and you obviously moved on with yours so lets just leave it at that.” Max said as he started to walk away.
“Max I know I hurt you terribly and I am sorry, if you will just listen there is more going on here that you…” Liz tried to tell him as she grabbed his arm and pulled him back.
Max glared at her, “Liz you’re the one who ran away not me, you can’t even begin to imagine the pain that I went through wondering what happened, where you were, what I had done wrong…”
Liz blinked as tears filled her eyes, “I thought I was protecting you, I thought…”
“I told you I don’t want to hear this, as far as I am concerned that part of my life is over.” Max told his voice filled with anger and frustration.
Liz wiped her eyes, “You hate me so much.”
“No Liz I don’t hate you, I don’t feeling anything where you are concerned, everything I felt for you died the day you left town.” Max told her in a cold unfeeling voice. Liz felt like her world had just come to an end. She let go of his arm, her eyes filled with tears as she began shaking. Max could see that his words had just the effect on her he had wanted, to hurt her to cause her pain. She walked away with out saying another word. For a moment Max’s anger left him and a part of him wanted desperately to go after her but he didn’t. Leaving things as they were was for the best he told himself, besides he didn’t love her any longer; he was past that, and he wasn’t going to get hurt again.
Liz couldn’t help it the tears flowed freely, she knew in her heart that things with Max Evans were finally over. Before there was always a hope a part of her that dared to dream that she and Max and Jaysa could be a happy family some day but not now. She glanced down at her watch, it was still so early she decided to go for a walk and pull herself together before heading home. She found herself walking through Roswell Park, everything looked so pretty, the flowers were in full bloom and the gardens looked so beautiful. She sat down on the bench and thought about Max, after what he had said she decided it was best not to tell him about their daughter, if he knew the truth about Jaysa he would only feel guilty and she couldn’t take having him pretend to have feelings for her when he really didn’t. The tears began to fall again as Liz thought about all the things that might have been. She was deep in thought and did not notice as someone came jugging by.
“Liz, is that you?” Tess asked.
Liz wiped her eyes and glanced up, “Oh hey Tess…sorry I did not see you there. I was kind of off in my own little world.”
Tess stopped and sat down next to Liz seeing how upset she was, “Are you ok?”
“Yea, I am fine.” Liz said as she wiped her eyes again and sniffled a little. “So you come jogging every morning?”
“Yea, it helps me to stay in shape. Listen Liz, I know you’re upset about something, if you want to talk about it, I’ll listen.” Tess said trying not to intrude.
“No really its ok, I am fine.” Liz said as she got to her feet. “It was nice seeing you though tell Kyle I said hi.”
“Liz wait please. I need to tell you something. I should have told you along time ago but…” Tess started to say.
Liz turned around, “Yeah, what is it?”
Tess motioned for Liz to sit back down, “I know that you and I have not been close and after I tell you what I am about to tell you we probably won’t ever be but I can’t stand this guilt any more. I have to tell you the truth.”
Liz’s curiosity was peeked now, “What…tell me what?”
“I caused you and Max to break up all those years ago, it was me.” Tess blurted out.
“What are you talking about?” Liz asked.
“When Nasedo was alive he held me under really tight control, his plan was never to help Max or the others. He planed all along to help Khivar. I was suppose to be with Max , once I was pregnant I was suppose to trick Max and the others into returning to Antar using the Granolith.” Tess admitted.
Liz shifted uncomfortably, “Why are you telling me this now?”
“Because you need to know, I am only sorry I did not tell you sooner. After nasedo was killed Khiver contacted me, he said he would kill me if I didn’t do what he wanted. I was scared and alone, I didn’t know what to do, so I went along with his plan, Max never did come back from the future. That was me, I made you think that you were seeing him…I mind warped you.” Tess told her.
“That’s not possible…he knew things, he knew Max was going to come and talk to me and play that silly song with the mariachi band.” Liz said trying to understand.
“I had been following Max around for weeks with out him knowing, I knew what he was going to do so I used it as a part of my plan.” Tess told her.
“IT was you that night after Max and I were together; you made me have that vision too?” Liz asked trying to take it all in.
“I had come by Max’s house and saw the two of you in bed together, I waited outside in the bushes until I saw you leave, and then I followed you. I knew that Max would never be with me if you stayed in Roswell so I mind warped you again. I knew you were to good a person to stay and risk the lives of everyone even if it meant you were going to loose Max. “ Tess told her.
Liz just sat there as tears filled her eyes again, “Why didn’t you go through with it…Maria said you were with Kyle.” Liz finally said her voice shaky.
Tess tried to hold back the tears, “At first I was afraid of Khivar, terrified, I couldn’t seem to break free from his grasp but then I realized that he was not as strong as he wanted me to perceive him being. As Max and I grew closer as friends I felt more and more guilty over the pain I had caused him and then there was Kyle. He and I were getting closer and closer. By the time I stood up to khivar and told him I wasn’t going to do his bidding any more it was too late, you had been gone for well over a year and I didn’t know where you were living.”
Tess said as she wiped the tear from her eyes. “When I found out where you were living I came to Washington to see you, I made it all the way to your house when I saw you playing with your daughter in the front yard. I was so afraid to tell you because I was afraid of Kyle finding out and leaving me, and when I saw you I thought that maybe you had moved on with your life, that you must have met someone else and that you weren’t miserable being apart from Max after all.”
“I see” was all Liz said.
“Liz I know you have every right to hate me, I know that I am a horrible person for doing what I did and I don’t have any excuse except to say that I was so alone, I didn’t have the others to depend on like Max, Michael, and Isabel did. After Nasedo died there was no one, and he actually wasn’t even that great.” Tess said as she tried to smile, “Anyway I was afraid and I made the wrong choices, I hurt you and Max and I am so sorry for that, I don’t think you will ever know how sorry.”
Liz smiled and shook her head, “Actually I do know how sorry you are, I know exactly how you are feeling and I understand, its not easy being alone or being afraid of having that one person you love more then life itself reject you and push you away.”
“Yeah…well I want you to know I am going to tell Max and Kyle the truth, I am going to come clean and tell everyone what I did, I know it is to little to late but I just wanted you to know the truth.” Tess said as she stood up to leave.
“Tess don’t tell Max, you can tell Kyle if you want to, he loves you, he will forgive you…you shouldn’t keep secrets from him…but don’t tell Max, he has moved on with his life and well I need to do that finally too.” Liz told her.
“But he loves you I’m sure of it and if he knew the truth it would change everything.” Tess told her.
“No he doesn’t love me… not any more and if he knew the truth he would just feel guilty and I don’t want him to go through that ok.” Liz explained.
“Oh Liz I am so sorry, I wish I could change this, fix it somehow I hope you know that.” Tess told her as fresh tears rolled down her cheeks.
“Sometimes things just don’t work out how we hope they will, but thank you for telling me the truth it does answer a lot of questions for me.” Liz told her then left to get back to the Crash down.
Well for what it is... Hope you liked it.

this is a Max and Liz story.

Max and Liz story that kind of follows the show.
I do not own anything to do with Roswell
Maria smiled and waved at Michael as he walked into the Crash down, “Hey this is a nice surprise.” She said as she greeted him with a kiss.
“Well you did not come by last night and I missed you.” Michael told her
“Yea, and the fact that you want to know what I found out about Liz and her daughter doesn’t have anything to do with you being here right?” Maria teased.
“Well I might be curious.” Michael told her.
“Well there’s really not that much to tell, I kind of promised that for now I would not say anything. She needs to think some stuff through, she needs a little space.” Maria explained.
“Well that’s vague, but I trust you.” Michael told her.
“So I suppose you want some breakfast too?” Maria asked him
“Well you weren’t there to fix it for me this morning.” He teased.
“I knew it, Max was right; you do only have me stay over to cook for you.” Maria shot back.
“Well not only to cook, there are other things I like you to do for me to, as a matter of fact I can think of one thing that I would love to do with you but there are just to many people around right at the moment.” He whispered into her ear.
Maria pushed her self a way from him and slapped him on the shoulder playfully, “now you can make your own breakfast.” She laughed as she ran back to the kitchen, Michael following after her. As Liz walked through the back door Maria stopped, “OH Liz what is it…its not your father is it?” she asked her voice filled with concern, seeing that Liz was upset and had been crying.
”No my dad is doing well, he seems to be responding to the medicine pretty well.” Liz told her.
Michael took one look at Liz and let out a heavy sigh guessing that it didn’t have anything to do with her father but more then likely Max, “OK I’m out of here, forget breakfast I will grab a couple of donuts on my way to the studio. See ya later Liz.”
Maria wrapped her arms around Liz and pulled her into the back room, “OK I know this has to do with Max so tell me all about it.” Liz told her everything that had happened with Max, and about her meeting with Tess in the park.
“Oh Liz, I don’t think I could have just sat there and listened to her tell me all that stuff, I probably would have grabbed her by the hair and dragged her all the way back to the hospital and made her tell Max everything.” Maria told her, feeling angry for her friend.
“Maria she was so sorry, I could feel the guilt and the regret. And she didn’t lie to me about any of it everything she said was true; I just couldn’t get angry with her. When you read a persons thoughts and know exactly how they are feeling it puts a different perspective on things, I am not excusing what she did but …” Liz explained
“Yea, but Liz she destroyed your life, she took your family, your friends, she took Max away from you, don’t you want her…” Maria started to say.
“No, Maria I don’t want her to suffer, and I don’t want her to feel the hurt I went through, am going through. Truthfully I am sick and tired of the hurt and pain, maybe its better this way really, Max said he has moved on with his life, besides hating me he seems really happy with his life.” Liz said as fresh tears filled her eyes.
Maria shook her head, “And what about you then, don’t you get to be happy ever?”
“Maria I was happy, Jaysa is the single most joyous thing of my life and she makes me smile and laugh all the time. Yes, I have days when I wish things were different but for the most part, I like my life, and I am happy.” Liz told her.
“And you don’t miss Max; you don’t want the whole package, the little white picket fence the two kids and dog in the yard package with Max?” Maria asked feeling a bit irritated.
“Alright, yes I want that ok, I do, but Maria he stood in front of me and told me he felt nothing for me, I can read peoples feeling remember he wasn’t lying… even if he knows the truth now, he will just feel guilty about us, don’t you see Max and I can’t ever go back to what we had…” Liz told her “And I know what you’re thinking too, I do but its not just Tess fault, it’s my fault too, I didn’t talk to him, I didn’t tell him the truth about what was happening back then. I lied to him and I tricked him then I ran away, I didn’t trust him, I didn’t trust us to work through it…” Liz said feeling the weight of the wrong choices she her self made.
“Yeah but Liz you thought you were doing the right thing, you…” Maria tone softened.
“Maria how many times have I said to you to always tell Michael the truth, always be up front and honest with him, trust is vital to a relationship no matter what. If I had trusted Max and gone to him things would be different, Tess made wrong choices that hurt people and so did I, and I am just not about revenge, that’s just not me. Tess has her life now with Kyle and Max has moved on with his life and that’s what I intend to do to; move on with my life and my family ok.” Liz told her.
Maria smiled and hugged her friend, “Ok Liz, this is your call and even if I don’t agree with it I will support you, I love you girl, and you know that.”
“Yeah I do and I am grateful that I have you thanks for always being here.” Liz smiled.
Liz went upstairs to get Jaysa ready for her trip to the hospital. She was determined not to let the rest of her day be ruined by what had happened. Jaysa came running up to her and wrapped her arms around her, “Mommy, I was wondering where you were at? Guess what grandma let me help cook pancakes for breakfast and it was lots of fun, I put blueberries and strawberries in mine, but Sara ate hers plain.”
“Oh that sounds so good, I like mine with blueberries too. You look so pretty, is this the dress you want to wear to go see grandpa?” Liz asked.
Jaysa shook her head yes. She stared at Liz for a few moments then she put her hand up along side of Liz cheek, “Mommy your sad today, something happened and it made you feel really bad inside.”
Liz tried to smile, “No mommy is fine, just a little bit tired, now go get your shoes and we will go see Grandpa he is waiting to meet you.”
“Mommy…I know that you’re sad, but I also know that you want it to keep it a secret so I won’t tell any one. I love you.” Jaysa said as she skipped off into the other room to get her shoes.
“You know that you can’t hide your feelings from her, she always knows any way.” Sara said as she walked into the room. “Was it Max?”
Liz nodded her head yes and let out a heavy sigh, “He didn’t even want to hear anything that I had to say.”
“Are you still going to tell him about Jaysa?” Sara asked.
“I am going to take the chicken’s way out Sara, once my father is released from the hospital I am going to move both my parents to live with us. When I have everything all settled I am going to send a letter to him and tell him about Jaysa, I won’t be here to make him feel guilty and he can do whatever he wants to with the information.” Liz whispered softly.
“Maybe its all for the best this way, if Max does have so much anger towards you still.” Sara told her. “Are you going to be ok?”
“Yep…I am going to be fine. Max has moved on with his life and that’s what I am going to do too.” Liz assured her. “Is my mother ready to go…I told my dad we would be back up soon.”
“I think so I will go and get her.” Sara told her. Several minutes later Sara, Nancy, and Jaysa came out into the living room all ready to go to the hospital. Liz listened to Jaysa as she chatted with her mom about how much fun it was to live near the ocean. She told her about finding sea shells and going swimming.
“It sounds like a lovely place to live; I can’t wait for you to show me all of your wonderful treasures that you have collected along the beach.” Nancy told her grand daughter.
“Do you think Grandpa will like the beach to?” Jaysa asked.
“I sure do, I think he will like it very much.” She said.
Liz pulled into the parking lot and turned to Jaysa, “Now remember Grandpa is still not feeling too good so you need to be a good girl and use your quite voice ok?” Jaysa nodded yes, as they all headed up to her fathers room. Liz poked her head into the door first and saw that her dad was back in his bed, “Hey dad I have someone here to meet with you.”
“OH Lizzie, where is she, where is my little grand daughter?” Jeff asked pretending not to see Jaysa.
“I’m right here Grandpa it’s me Jaysa.” She said smiling.
“OH there you are, and such a beautiful little girl too.” Jeff said as Jaysa climbed up on the bed next to him. Liz introduced Sara and listened as her parents visited with both Sara and Jaysa. She felt distracted her mind was on other things, her encounter with Max still stung.
Max felt terrible all morning; his encounter with Liz was awful. He was cruel to her, and he had meant to be. He wanted to hurt her to punish her for the years of hurt and pain he had gone through. He had asked himself a million times about that night that the two of them shared together. Now after all this time she wanted to offer explanations, what good where they now he thought to himself. If only she would have talked to him, told him what was going on five years ago, but she didn’t. That night when they made love, when they connected he saw so many things that didn’t make any sense to him, things that he thought were some kind of dream that Liz might have had, but he never got a chance to ask her, to understand, she didn’t trust him enough to open up to him, instead she ran away. Max ran his fingers through his hair and shook his head, the look she had in her eyes when he said he felt nothing; it looked as if she were dieing inside, he thought to him self. Max got up and walked into the kitchen and poured himself a soda, and then he walked over and sat down on the sofa. He had lied when he said he didn’t feel anything for her, but the truth was he didn’t know what he was feeling he had buried those emotions for so long and there was so much anger that he wasn’t sure what he was really feeling. Still he didn’t hate her and purposely hurting her was wrong he knew that. His thoughts were interrupted when Michael walked through the door, “Hey your off work early.”
“Yeah, I took the early rounds for Dr. Thomas.” Max explained.
“Guess you and Liz got into it this morning ugh?” Michael said as he opened a soda and sat down.
“How did you know about that?” Max asked.
“I was at the Crash down when she got back; let’s just say she was a bit upset.” Michael told him.
“She was?” Max asked feeling guilty still.
“Yeah…look Max, Maria wants Liz to be her maid of honor and well I was hoping you could be my best man but if it’s going to be world war three every time the two of you are together then…?” Michael said with out really finishing his sentence.
“No Michael it will be fine really, I can handle being the best man with her there. I know that I handled things badly, it won’t happen again. “ Max said. The sound of his beeper going off interrupted his thoughts, “Look I have to go back to the hospital so I will be home later, I know Maria is going to be ticked at me so just tell her what I said ok.” Michael shook his head and flipped on the TV, he hoped that Max would be able to handle it or Maria would never let him hear the end of it.
When Max got to the hospital one of the nurses pulled him aside, “Dr. Evans, I think you better look at Mr. Parkers chart, his new x rays from this morning came back and the report said that he is beginning to develop another clot close to his left ventricle. I know that you wanted to be kept up to date on his progress so I thought I should call you.”
“Thank you.” Max said as he took the report from her and began reading over what it said. He shook his head, if this clot didn’t respond to medication they were going to have to do open heart surgery and that was risky in and of itself. Max let out a heavy sigh, he wished now more then ever that he had not been so awful to Liz. He hated that he had to be the one to bring them more bad news.
Liz looked up as the door opened, her heart sank, it was Max that came into the room. Tears stung her eyes as she fought to hold them back. Max looked at her and knew that she was still hurting from what he had said early. “Hello everyone, having a nice visit?” Max asked trying to sound light hearted.
“Oh Dr. Evans two visit from you in one morning, I hope its not bad news.” Jeff said as he played patty cake with Jaysa.
Max looked at the little girl and knew at once that she was Liz daughter. “So who is this pretty little girl?” Max asked.
Jeff smiled at Max, “This is our granddaughter Jaysa. Can you say hello to Dr. Evans, he and your mommy are old friends.”
“Hello Dr. Evans.” Jaysa said as she held out her hand for Max to shake. Max took the girls hand in his and instantly his mind was filled with flashes of Liz being pregnant and when Jaysa was a baby. He was taken by surprised at how intense of a connection he seemed to have with her. “You can call me Max if you like?” he managed to say.
Jaysa laughed, “You’re just like me ugh?”
Max shook his head confused, “I’m sorry I don’t think I…” Liz understood what Jaysa was thinking and she wanted the subject changed, “So Max everything is alright with my dad right?”
Max was still staring at Jaysa when Liz asked him about her dad for the second time, “I’m sorry, actually I needed to speak with you and your mom in the hall for a moment.” Liz and Nancy followed him out into the hall way while Jaysa stayed playing with her dad.
Liz stood next to her mom and listened as Max explained what the new x-rays had shown. “We are starting to run out of options here, I need you both to understand that we may have to operate.”
Nancy Parker closed her eyes trying not to cry, “When will you know for sure?” she asked her voice filled with emotion.
Max shook his head, “I have ordered a new drug the nurse is going to be bringing it in soon. If we don’t see some kind of response from him in the next 48 hours then we will have to operate. We can’t risk the clot blocking off the flow of blood to his heart. I just thought I would tell you both first, its important that he not get upset or overly worried. I want him to stay calm.”
“I want to tell him if you don’t mind Dr. Evans…” Nancy asked.
“Of course but if either of you have any questions please just ask, I will be here all afternoon and you can always have me paged too.” Max said.
Nancy went back into the room, Liz was about to follow when Max touched her hand and pulled her back, “Liz could I speak with you for a moment.”
Liz felt herself shake at his touch; “Yes…” she said trying not to reveal how nervous she was feeling.
“I wanted to tell you that I am sorry about your dad…and” Max started to say just as Jaysa came running out into the hall calling for her, “Mommy…”
Liz leaned down and picked her up, “What is it Jaysa, what’s the matter.”
“Grandpa’s not sick any more…he can come home with us now.” Jaysa told her in an excited voice.
Liz felt her heart start racing, “would you excuse us for a minute?” She didn’t wait for him to answer, she walked down the hall and into the near by waiting room. “Jaysa please tell me that you didn’t make Grandpa all better?” she whispered softly.
“Yep I did…I just put my hand over his heart and I saw that he had some icky stuff there, its not suppose to be there, it was making him feel bad so I made it go away. “ Jaysa told her.
Liz ran her hand through her hair, “Oh Jaysa don’t you remember you promised mommy that you wouldn’t use your special abilities.” She said feeling panic well up inside of her.
Jaysa knew immediately that her mother was upset, “I’m sorry mommy, I just wanted to help, grandpa was feeling bad in his chest and you were so sad, I thought if he felt better you might be happy again.”
Liz felt bad for scolding her, she knew her daughter had not meant to misbehave, "It’s alright honey...I am not upset with you, you have to tell me exactly what happened though, does Grandpa know that you healed him?"
"Nope, he was telling me a story and I just laid my head on his heart that’s when I saw the icky stuff and so I closed my eyes really tight and thought really hard and the bad stuff went away. Grandpa just kept on telling me the story." Jaysa told her.
"Ok, well at least I don't have to explain to them...but what am I going to say to Max." Liz said to herself.
"Can I go back and visit with Grandma and Grandpa...?" Jaysa asked. Liz smiled and kissed her daughter, "Yes, but don't say anything to any one about what happened ok. Liz walked with Jaysa back to her father’s room. Max was inside explaining about the medicine when Liz walked back in. She motioned for Sara to join her in the hall, “Jaysa healed my father.”
“When I didn’t see her do anything?” Sara told her.
“She said when he was telling her a story that she healed him.” Liz told her. “What should I do?”
“Liz I am sorry I didn’t know that she was doing that I would have tried to stop her.” Sara explained.
“No its not your fault Jaysa healing abilities are getting stronger, she told me that when she laid her head down on his chest she saw the bad stuff in his heart, so she made him better. Some how she knew what was wrong with him and how to fix it. What about the medication they are going to give him, will it hurt him now that he doesn’t have blood clots?” Liz asked trying to think.
“No it should be ok, it will just keep any new clots from forming,” Sara told her. Liz let out a small sigh of relief. She decided it was time to take Jaysa and leave she didn’t want to be around Max any longer then she had to. “Sara can you stay with my mother and try to ease her fears tell them that you heard of this medicine and it really works. I am going to take Jaysa home with me I am feeling very stressed at the moment and I just want to block out this whole morning.” Sara smiled and assured her that everything would be alright. Liz said goodbye to her father and mother then took Jaysa using the excuse that she needed a small nap to leave. Max didn’t say anything more to her as she left. Something strange was going on but he wasn’t sure what it was. He thought about Jaysa, she did look a lot like Liz he thought to himself. IT was strange he had felt a strong connection with the little girl as soon as she held his hand. He finished speaking with Jeff and Nancy Parker and was about to leave when a nurse called after him, “Dr. Evans…you have several messages that you forgot to pick up.
“Oh thank you…I have had a lot on my mind lately.” Max said as he took the bundle of messages from her. He began thumbing through them one at a time. Most were from the nurse on duty giving him updates about his patients, there were two from Isabel, four from Maria, and one from Tess. Probably all checking on him because of Liz, he thought to himself. There was one message that caught his attention, it was written in a different handwriting then all the others and it was anonymous. He read it over several time…”Max, you should know that the gestation time for an alien pregnancy is 12 months at least.” He didn’t know what to think, he walked over and sat down for a moment trying to let its meaning sink in… if this where true then Liz could have conceived that night they were together and that would make Jaysa his daughter. Max folded the note up and placed in his pocket, in his head he kept trying to figure up the dates, Michael had said that she was three or four…if she were only three then she couldn’t be his daughter even if Liz had actually been pregnant for 12 months, but if she were four then…he had to know for sure Max thought.

It is a Max and Liz story that kind of followes the show. I do not own Roswell
Liz took a long relaxing bath while Jaysa slept. She thought about Max, he seemed different then when he first saw her, she could tell that he was feeling guilty over the way he had treated her. Probably because of her father she guessed. She didn’t want him to feel sorry for her, not about her father, or Jaysa, or anything. She wondered if he had noticed Jaysa’s eye color at all, while most of her features resembled Liz, her eyes were defiantly Max’s. She tried not to think about the harsh exchange the two of them had shared earlier in the day. She just hoped that she could get through the next few weeks until they were ready to leave. She didn’t know how long she would have to wait for the doctors to give her dad a clean bill of health. It wasn’t long before Jaysa woke up and called out to her.
“Mommy is in the bath tub sweetie.” Liz answered her.
“I’m thirsty…” Jaysa told her. Liz told her to go downstairs and have Maria get her a drink of juice and that she would be down shortly. Jaysa came down the stairs and looked around the kitchen for Maria when she didn’t find her she went out into the restaurant. Maria was serving someone their drinks when Jaysa walked up behind her,” Aunt Maria I’m thirsty…mommy said you would get me drink of juice.”
Maria turned around, “Hey Jaysa up from your nap already?”
“Yep and mommy said you would get me some juice.” She said again.
“Oh ok. Do you want apple, orange, grape or fruit punch?” Maria asked.
“I bet you like orange juice… am I right?” Max asked from behind Maria.
Jaysa smiled, “Yep that’s my favorite. How did you know?”
Max smiled, “Because it’s my favorite too.” Jaysa laughed. Maria sat her down in the booth and looked at Max, “So what brings you here, come to spread more joy?”
Max held up his hands and shook his head, “I promise to behave…I actually wanted to apologies to Liz for before ok.”
Maria narrowed her eyes, “Yeah ok, just try to remember she has been through a lot of hurt too.” She said in an annoyed voice. Max didn’t say anything instead he sat down next to Jaysa, “Hey what about our juice?” Max asked.
Maria hesitated not sure what to do, if Liz saw Max sitting there with Jaysa she would freak, “maybe you should help me get the juice Jaysa.” Maria asked
Max shook his head, “She doesn’t want go get juice she wants to stay here and tell me all about where you live?” Max encouraged her.
“I want to stay with Max.” Jaysa laughed. Maria smiled and headed off into the kitchen. Max looked at the little girl intently, he was right she did look just like Liz, same hair color, same facial features but her eyes were a beautiful hazel with specks of green in them, not the same deep dark brown that Liz’s eyes were. Her eye’s reminded him a lot of his own, “You have beautiful hazel eye’s.” Max told her.
Jaysa laughed at being complimented, “Thank you…my mommy says that I have eyes just like my daddy.”
Max felt a bit of disappointment maybe she wasn’t his daughter after all if she knew who her father was the odds were against him he thought, “Oh, well you look a lot like your mommy too. How old are you Jaysa?”
Jaysa held up her hand and counted out four fingers. ”I am four years old. I just had my birthday actually.”
“Four years old…you are a big girl then, almost all grown up.” Max teased.
Jaysa laughed, “No silly, I’m still little you have to be old like mommy before you are all grown up.”
Max laughed at Jaysa calling Liz old. “Is mommy old then?”
“Yep and sometime she says that I am going to give her gray hair.” Jaysa told him.
“Oh really.” Max said with a smile on his face. “Tell me about where you live what is it like?”
“Oh it is very pretty; we have a big huge house and its right on the beach and we have our own ocean too. Mommy and Sara and I go hunting for seashells and sometimes Sara takes me fishing but mommy doesn’t like the worms.” Jaysa laughed.
Seeing a chance to bring up her father Max asked, “OH well maybe your daddy can put the worms on the hook for your mommy.”
Jaysa shook her head, “I don’t have a daddy silly. Its just me, Sara, and mommy.”
Max was just about to ask her another question when Maria came back into the room with two glasses of orange juice. She stopped and stared at the two of them for a minute, seeing them together you could see that Jaysa looked just as much like Max as she did Liz.
“Juice…Maria I want my juice.” Jaysa laughed and told her. Maria shook her head, “Sorry I was just thinking that I have to call Michael about a…something.” She said trying to come up with something.
Max watched Jaysa intently as she finished drinking her orange juice then announced, “I wonder where mommy is? I want her to come and visit with us.”
Maria was just about to sit down when a customer walked in, she looked a Jaysa and then back at Max. “Jaysa mommy will be down any minute but I have to go over here and take care of this customer.”
”She’ll be fine with me Maria, go work; I’ll stay here with her until Liz comes.” Max told her wanting a little more time to talk to Jaysa. Maria reluctantly gave in and went to wait tables.
Waiting to make sure that Maria was out of ear shot Max turned to Jaysa, “So tell me more about living at the beach.”
“It’s fun… I like it a lot. Grandpa and Grandma are going to come live with us too. Grandpa is all better so he can come and it will be lots of fun.” Jaysa told him.
Max gently assured her, “Well we hope Grandpa will be all better soon don’t we.”
Jaysa laughed and crawled up on the table and sat down in front of him staring intently into his eyes, “No silly I fixed him, I put my hand on his chest and he is all better.” She told him as a matter of fact, and then suddenly remembering she put her hand over her mouth and her eyes got really wide.
Max could see that she was upset he held her hand and pulled it down from her face gently, “What is it, what’s the matter?”
“I wasn’t supposed to tell, I promised mommy I wouldn’t tell anyone…now she is going to cry again and it’s all my fault.” Jaysa said almost in tears.
Max felt an overwhelming urge to wrap his arms around her but he didn’t want to frighten her, “I won’t tell mommy anything that you said ok. You can trust me Jaysa your secret is safe with me ok.”
She seemed to feel better after that and smiled. She put her hands on either side of Max’s face and stared into his eyes, “Hey you have my eyes.” She said as a small giggle escaped her. Max laughed too, the same connection that was there before was there again as he held Jaysa’s hand. He saw her before she was born moving and kicking inside the womb. Then flashes filled his mind of her when she was older and playing on the beach. Jaysa leaned in very close to Max and whispered, “You are like me ugh?”
Max whispered back his voice filled with emotion, “Yep, I think I am.” This delighted Jaysa as she let out a loud laugh and hugged Max.
Maria walked over and sat down, “Jaysa you should get down off the table, mommy might not like you up here like that.”
“Ok.” she said as she climbed back down into the seat next to Max, “Aunt Maria can I have an ice cream cone, it’s hot?”
Maria looked at her watch it was just past 4:00, “Well just a little one we don’t want to spoil your dinner. What kind do you want?”
Jaysa laughed, “I want chocolate, it’s my favorite. Can I help get it from the machine?” Maria nodded yes and Jaysa jumped down and ran after her.
Max smiled chocolate was his favorite too, “I want an ice cream cone too Maria.” He called out after them. The connection he felt to this little girl, the time line of Liz pregnancy, her eyes, it all added up she was his daughter, and he knew it, he felt it through the connection they shared. Max thoughts centered on Liz, she was pregnant when she left Roswell but there was no way she could have known then he thought. He let out a heavy sigh but when she did realize that she was carrying his child why didn’t she tell him? Max felt angry with himself for a moment, she was trying to tell him something this morning but he wouldn’t let her. He wondered how she would react to him knowing what if she had not planned to tell him about Jaysa, what if it was something else. He wanted to know his daughter, what if Liz ran away again and he didn’t’ get to see Jaysa, no he couldn’t let that happen. Some how he had to let Liz know that she could trust him that she could talk to him and tell him about Jaysa he thought to him self, and then …well then they could go from there he decided. He needed to take things slow and not pressure her he decided.
Liz got out of the tub and slipped on her jeans and a pale pink tank top. It was so much hotter in Roswell then she remembered. She didn’t want Jaysa to bother Maria so she hurried and dried her hair to get down to the restaurant. She was shocked as she walked through the kitchen door to see Jaysa sitting in the booth next to Max eating an ice cream cone. Why was Max here and why was he sitting with her daughter?
Liz took in a deep breath and walked over to the two of them, “Hey that looks yummy.”
“Mommy Max and I have been having a wonderful time…I told him all about our house at the beach and guess what?” Jaysa asked excited.
Liz was almost afraid to ask, “What?”
“We have the same eyes.” Jaysa said as she put her cheek down next to Max’s face. ”See mommy they are the same.” Jaysa told her. Liz looked at the two of them and smiled, Max was staring at her intently which made her that much more nervous. “And guess what else? He likes orange juice and chocolate ice cream just like me.” Jays said proudly.
“Oh that’s great…but look at you your hands and dress are all covered in chocolate we better go get you cleaned up ok.”
Jaysa looked down at her hands and they were covered in melted ice cream, “Ok mommy can Max come too?”
Liz shook her head, “OH no I don’t think so sweetie I am sure that Max has other…”
Max stood up and followed right behind them, “Actually my hands are all messy too so I will come.” He said showing Liz his hands. Liz tried to calm her nerves as they walked up the stairs and into her old bedroom. Liz waited while Max washed his hands then she sent Jaysa in to the bathroom to do the same. Max didn’t say anything to her he just kept staring at her. Liz felt the need to say something, “So umm…is everything alright I mean…” after several seconds of trying to think of something to say she just blurted out, “Why are you here, exactly?”
Max smiled, “I wanted an ice cream cone.” Liz didn’t believe that was his only reason for coming. She walked over to her window and stared outside. She kept trying to read his thoughts to find out what he was thinking or feeling but it was not of much use. He was thinking random thoughts about ice cream cones, sticky hands, and how long Jaysa was taking in the bathroom. Liz turned and called out to her daughter with out even think, “Jaysa is everything alright?”
“Yes mommy.” She answered. Liz closed her eyes and tried again to read Max thoughts, he was thinking about her now, about her pink tank top and how he would like to slip it off throw her down to the bed. How he wanted to kiss and caress every inch of her. Liz began to blush and as his thoughts centered on her breast. With out thinking she turned around and told him to stop, “Max Evans stop it right now, my daughter is right in the…” she blurted out then realized that he was sitting innocently on the end of the bed with a huge smile on his face. She was so embarrassed at him having caught her reading his thoughts, “That was a trap wasn’t it?”
Max laughed a little, “Yeah it was.” He told her.
“You were thinking those things on purpose right now to catch me…” Max shook his head yes, “that is so rude.” She said feeling annoyed.
“Some people might think it is rude for you to read their private thoughts with out their knowledge. Besides Liz, sometimes when a person is in the moment they may think something that they really are not feeling just because of the emotion at that moment.” Max told her in a soft voice as he walked up next to her.
Having him stand so close made her tremble, “Well I didn’t…I am sorry Max your right and I won’t do it again.”
“I came over to tell you that I am sorry, this morning I was awful towards you. I was trying to hurt you and no matter what happened between us in the past I shouldn’t have treated you that way.” Max told her softly.
Liz felt her heart pounding he was standing so close to her, “I …I …wanted to talk to you to…to explain but “ She couldn’t think with him standing so close, she stepped away from him and took in a deep breath, “Why this change of heart? I mean this morning you said…”
He felt frustrated that she wouldn’t let it drop, “Liz I know what I said…but what I am saying now is that I am sorry ok. I am not trying to get anything from you…you don’t even have to talk to me if you don’t trust me…”
“It’s not that I don’t trust you it’s…” Liz interrupted but then he interrupted her.
“Maybe we both need time to learn to trust each other and then when we do maybe you will talk to me and I will be ready to listen…but for now I am sorry for the hurtful things I said and I hope we can try to get along for…” Jaysa popped into his head and he held his breath for a second hoping she hadn’t been reading his thoughts.
“For what?” Liz asked.
“For Michael and Maria’s wedding, we are both going to be in their wedding I know you don’t want to do anything to ruin it and I sure don’t so what do you say.” Max said relieved that she had kept her word and not read his thoughts. At that moment Jaysa came running out of the bathroom and jumped on the bed. She had her hair half pulled up in a pony tail and some of Liz lip stick smeared on her lips and cheeks. Liz shook her head, “Oh Jaysa what have I told you about getting into my makeup.”
“I forgot.” Was all she said sensing her mother was unhappy with her.
Liz shook her head, “No you did not…now march your self into that bathroom and wash your face got it?” Liz said in a stern voice so Jaysa knew she meant business.
Jaysa hopped off the bed and walked into the bathroom with her head down, Max almost laughed at the puppy dog eyes she had when she turn to face her mom once more before going into the bathroom. “It must be hard not having her father here to help you.” Max said as he walked over and sat down on Liz bed.
Liz just shrugged her shoulders, “Jaysa’s is a great kid, she is really smart and is usually really well behaved but she is out of her environment right now so she is testing me a bit.”
Max stared at Liz intently as he asked his next question, “Does she spend very much time with her father? I only ask because she told me before that she didn’t have a dad, that it was just you and Sara.”
“Yeah that’s right…her father is not in her life.” Liz said softly.
“What happened… didn’t it work out between the two of you?” He asked guarding his thoughts just in case Liz was tempted.
“You could say that yeah.” Was all she said.
“You must have gotten pregnant not to long after you left Roswell, with in a few months.” He said waiting for her reaction. Liz didn’t know what to say she didn’t want to lie but she defiantly didn’t want to tell max that he was Jaysa’s father and have her walk in at any moment. As if sensing the inner conflict she was feeling he stood up and shook his head, “You know what that was over the line, I am sorry truly. I had no business asking you that forget it ok.” He said much to her relief.
Jaysa returned from the bathroom her face freshly scrubbed and her hair combed neatly. Liz scooped her up into her arms and kissed her, “Now that is better…”
Max smiled, “Well I have to go… thank you Jaysa for sharing an ice cream cone with me it was fun.”
“Your welcome.” Jaysa said.
“I am going to go back to the hospital and check on your father.” Max said watching again for her reaction.
Liz shook her head, “Oh ok well that’s good to know.”
“I could call you if you want …it may help to ease your mother’s worries.” Max told her.
Liz’s manner changed all at once, “Oh yeah defiantly call, we want to know how things are going.” She said almost forgetting that Max didn’t know about Jaysa healing him.
“Ok then.” He said. Liz couldn’t help herself she smiled and concentrated on his thoughts, she had to make sure he didn’t suspect anything about her dad. She was taken by surprised, in his mind he told her it was easy to imagine making love to you…it’s been my constant dream every night for the last five years. He knew she had read his thoughts when her face turned a bright red. She caught the glint in his eye as he turned to leave she couldn’t help but feel disappointed, he was only teasing her again Liz thought.

Part 6
It was shortly before five; Max decided to go over to see Isabel before going back to the hospital. He needed to talk to someone about what he had discovered and Isabel seemed to be the most logical choice considering how close Maria and Liz were Michael probably would rather stay in the dark on this one, he thought to him self. He hoped that Alex wasn't home yet as he knocked on the door and walked in.
"Isabel, its Max." he called out as he sat down on the couch.
She called out, "I am up stairs in the nursery, come on up."
Max took the stairs two at a time, "Hey what are you doing I thought you were going to wait for Alex to set this all up." He said as he walked into the nursery.
"Yeah well he has been busy with work and I want to have the nursery finished before the baby arrives." She told him.
Max started to laugh, "Well I hate to tell you this but I think you have plenty of time."
Isabel glared at him, "Yeah right, I am 7 months pregnant that means I have 2 months left, two very short months to get ready for this baby." She told him slightly out of breath.
Max walked over put both hands on her shoulders and sat her down in the rocking chair, "I have some bad news for you." He said to her.
Isabel instinctively put her hand down to her tummy, "What...every thing is alright isn't it, the baby is ok right?" She asked Max had been handling all of her prenatal care since they were so unsure of just what to expect.
Max patted her tummy, "Oh yeah the baby is fine, he just isn't coming out for awhile longer, about 5 months longer."
Isabel shook her head, "That’s not funny Max what are you talking about."
Max told her smiling, "I'm sorry; I just found out that alien pregnancy’s last 12 months not 9 so you have plenty of time to get Alex to fix up the nursery for you."
Isabel leaned back against the rocking chair, "What... you can't be serious about this?"
Max grew serious, "I am and that’s not all, what I am about to tell you, you can not tell anyone. Not even Alex, I need you to promise me."
Isabel could see that this meant a lot to him, "Ok I promise."
"Liz's daughter Jaysa, is my daughter too, I am her father." Max told her. Isabel stared at him in disbelief, "but her daughter is too young, she is only..."
"She is four years old. Liz was pregnant with her for 12 months." Max told her.
"She told you this?" Isabel asked still trying to understand.
"No not exactly." Max admitted.
"What do you mean not exactly?" She asked.
Max spent the next several minutes explaining what had happened. He told her about the note and how he had gone over and spent the afternoon talking with Jaysa. He told her about the connection he had with her, the flashes of seeing her in the womb and right after she was born. Isabel didn't know what to say, it all seemed so impossible but then she was an alien princess, living in secret, on another planet, married to a human, so impossible was pretty irrelevant at the moment. “Max …I am not sure what to say, how are you with this. I mean if this is all true then you’re a father, how do you feel about that?”
Max leaned back in the chair and closed his eyes, “Isabel, I am sad and ecstatic all at the same time, I’m angry at Liz and yet I’m not. I guess the truth is when I first read that note, my first reaction was to do the math figure things up then the more real the possibility seemed to me the happier I felt.”
“You have a four year old daughter that you knew nothing about and yet you’re happy?” Isabel asked her voice filled with skepticism.
Max shook his head, “No Is, I am not happy that I didn’t know about her until now, but the truth is that when I realized that I was Jaysa father I felt incredibly happy because that meant that Liz didn’t run away and end up pregnant by some other guy just a few months after leaving me, and from what Jaysa said, she hasn’t been with any one during the time she has been away.“
“Yeah but Max that doesn’t mean that she wants to be with you either, you said yourself she hasn’t told you about any of this so maybe you shouldn’t get your hopes up.” Isabel warned him, she was worried about seeing him hurt again. She remembered all to well the pain and depression that he went through for months after Liz left.
“I know Is, I know, but if I can get her to trust me, to talk to me, then we can see if we have anything to build off of and if not well I at least want to be a part of Jaysa life. She is a beautiful little girl and as strange as it sounds I feel like I have known her whole life. Talking with her today it wasn’t awkward in the least, and she knows that there is a connection between her and me, but I think she is afraid to say too much because of Liz.” Max told her.
“Max be careful, things between you and Liz have not been easy for either of you. Take things slow, especially for the little girl’s sake; don’t do anything that would put her in between the two of you.” Isabel warned him.
Max shook his head, “I plan to take things very slow with Liz. I am not going to confront her about Jaysa unless I absolutely have to; I am hoping, desperately hoping that she will open up and talk to me about Jaysa and a lot of things for that matter. Isabel you know me better then anyone, I am not saying that Liz doesn’t still have the power to hurt me, or that I am not hurt that she didn’t tell me about being pregnant, I know there is still a lot that I have to deal with where she is concerned I am not pretending that it is all just going to go away but I am hoping that I can show her that she can trust me.” He said as he picked up some of the baby toys Isabel had laying on the table. “I know it’s not going to be easy. I don’t even know why she stopped trusting me to begin with or if it was all just an illusion that she ever did trust me, but I need to do this, for Jaysa and for me.”
Isabel stood up and walked over to Max, she hugged him, “Oh Max… you’re a dad that’s so wonderful.” She said her voice filled with emotion. He hugged her back and laughed, “Yeah…but remember until I say otherwise this is our secret ok?”
“Yeah… NO wait!” Isabel let go of Max and shook her head, “Max I can’t keep this a secret from Alex, he is expecting our baby to be born in 2 months. How am I going to deal with this I have been telling everyone that my due date is late July and now its…its…when is my due date exactly Max?” She asked feeling panicked.
Max helped her sit back down, “Okay, you can tell Alex but no one else please Is, this is too important to me.”
Isabel shook her head, “Alright I won’t tell anyone right away, but Max if I feel that I have to tell Alex I am going to although I will stress how vital it is he not say anything to anyone alright.”
Max agreed. Isabel looked at him, “What about the note, do you have any idea who wrote it?”
“No I know it wasn’t Liz, I almost think its Maria but she seemed nervous about me spending time with Jaysa.” Max said.
Isabel looked back up at him. “Max did Jaysa have any powers? I mean did you notice if she was more alien or human?” she asked hoping to know since it had been on her mind almost constantly since she found out she was pregnant.
“I’m not sure about that either, but I may have an answer to that question soon.” Max said glancing down at his watch. “I should be going I will call you later ok. Oh and Is, if your around Liz she can read your thoughts, one of the side effects of my having healed her so just keep that in mind ok.” He said as he headed for the front door.
Isabel didn’t say anything, sometimes a part of her wished he would just go to Michael she thought to herself feeling just a bit over whelmed at the moment. She was just getting up when Max walked back in to the room, “Oh and Isabel your new due date should be around Halloween but I’m only guessing.”
Isabel almost felt like crying, “Great that’s just great he’ll be born on Halloween three months over due and I’ll be like her mom and dad meet your half alien half human grandson. That’s just perfect.” Max didn’t say anything more he just left quietly.
Liz turned to Jaysa, “I don’t suppose you’re all that hungry with just having finished an ice cream cone are you?” she asked.
Jaysa smiled, “Nope.”
Liz rubbed her nose against Jaysa’s giving her nose kisses, “I didn’t think so.”
“Mommy?” Jaysa asked a she looked into Liz’s eyes.
“What?” Liz answered.
“I like Max. Why doesn’t he live with us?” She asked.
Liz was taken completely by surprise, she sat her daughter down on the bed and knelt down in front of her, “Why would you ask me that?”
“Because silly, he is my daddy.” Jaysa said innocently.
Liz stood up her heart was racing, “What…why do you think that?”
“I just know it, he is my daddy.” Jaysa said with all certainty as she crawled off the bed and pulled her building blocks out from her back pack. “Mommy, do you want to help me build a house?”
Liz began pacing back and forth, “not right now.” She felt like her heart was going to pound out of her chest, “Jaysa, you didn’t say anything to Max about him being your daddy did you?”
“Nope… I didn’t tell him…I didn’t know if you would be sad if I told him so I didn’t.” Jaysa told her as she finished working on her project.
“Oh…Well mommy is going to tell him soon so lets keep it a secret for now.” Liz told her. Jaysa shook her head yes and continued working on her house. Liz watched her daughter in amazement she had just met her father for the first time and she didn’t even seemed fazed by it. Liz sat down on the floor next to her daughter, “Jaysa …how do you feel about Max being your daddy, are you ok?”
“I like it fine, he is nice and funny, do you think if we tell him that he is my daddy he will want to come live with us cause I think that would be fun.” Jaysa asked.
Liz smiled, “Oh well I don’t know sweetie, see Max lives here and we live up in Washington so it might be hard.”
Jaysa looked at her mom then she tilted her head to one side, “Mommy you knew that Max was my daddy didn’t you?”
Liz almost laughed but held back not wanting to hurt her daughter feelings, “Umm, yea I did know that sweetie… why?”
“Oh it’s just that most mommies and daddies live in the same house and you and my daddy don’t. I thought that since he didn’t know that he is my daddy then maybe you didn’t know either that’s all.” Jaysa told her. Liz wasn’t sure how to answer that one so she reminded her daughter not to tell anyone about Max and then she got her attention centered on the Lego’s in front of her.
Max walked into his apartment and sat down on the couch, “Michael you here?”
Michael came out of the bathroom, “Yea, I’m here. Maria called me said you showed up there this afternoon and made nice with Liz.”
Max shook his head, “I told you I would handle it, I wouldn’t do anything to ruin your wedding.”
“I know it’s just that Maria and Liz are really close and well when Liz is upset, Maria is upset.” Michael told him
“Which equates to you getting the cold shoulder right?” Max laughed.
“Exactly and that is not how I want to be spending the days leading up to my wedding and it’s defiantly not how I want to spend my honeymoon.” He said as he opened up a cold soda and sat down on the couch.
Max wanted to go over and talk to Liz about her father and his miraculous recovery but he decided that he better wait, it was already well past 8:00. He was just about to go grab a shower when the phone rang. Michael answered it; the look on his face said it all, he was in trouble with Maria. “No I did not forget that we were meeting with Liz tonight to talk about the wedding…Maria…Maria if you will stop yelling at me and listen…I came home first because…because Max wanted to come.” Michael said even though Max was waving his arms and saying no repeatedly. “Yea well he is my best man he should be there too…so we will be there in 10 minutes if you let me get off the phone…ok I love you too.” Michael said as he hung up the phone.
“I am not going over with you Michael so just forget it.” Max told him as he headed into his room to change.
“Yes you are, if you don’t Maria is gonna kill me.” He told him.
Max started to shut his door when Michael yelled, “Fine I will just tell Liz that you couldn’t handle seeing her or being in the same room with her two times in one day.”
Max swore under his breath grabbed his jacket and followed Michael out the door, “Thought that might change your mind.”
Maria just finished closing the restaurant when Liz came walking through the kitchen door, “Well she is finally asleep.” She said as she yawned.
“Hey are you up for this tonight still?” Maria asked.
Liz shook her head yes, “Oh yeah I am fine really.”
“Are you still fine if I tell you Max is coming over with Michael?” Maria asked as she sat down at the counter next to Liz.
“Really, whose bright idea was that? Oh let me guess Michaels right?” she asked sarcastically. Maria nodded and then wrapped her arm around Liz, “I can make an excuse for you if you want.”
Liz shook her head, “No he will think I am still angry with him about earlier and that I am avoiding him.”
“You are the very best friend ever.” Maria told her.
“I wonder if he is going to bring up my father…that’s stupid of course he will bring up my father. What should I say Maria?” Liz asked just as Max and Michael appeared at the door. Maria shrugged her shoulders then walked over to let them both in.
Michael kissed Maria on the cheek as the two walked in. Max said hi to Liz as he sat down in the booth, Michael sat across from him and Maria sat down next her. Liz just smiled and sighed as she walked over and sat down next to Max.
“You know before we get started with this little pow wow I am dying of thirst so I think I am going to grab some soda’s.” Michael said.
Liz almost jumped to her feet, “I’ll get them, I am kind of hungry so I think I will make up a quick snack to. You guys go ahead and get started.” Liz told her. Max watched as she walked into the kitchen then he slid over and stood up, “I need to use the rest room. Be right back.” He said then he walked into the kitchen too.
He walked up behind Liz, “I was going to call and talk to you about your father but it was getting late and I didn’t want to chance waking up Jaysa.”
Liz jumped a little, “Oh Max you startled me?”
Max moved in a little closer, “I’m sorry…I didn’t mean to.”
Liz could feel his breath on the back of her neck, her heart was racing, “It’s ok, I guess I am a little jumpy.”
Max repeated what he said, “I said I was going to call and talk to you about your father but it was getting late and I didn’t want to chance waking up Jaysa.”
“Oh yeah well she usually gets sleepy around 8:00.” She said. “So about my father…” Liz asked deciding to let him take the lead.
“Well it’s strange I ran some more x-rays and his clot is gone, completely healed.” Max said as he leaned in closer to her. Liz felt her heart begin to race, having Max stand so close made her feel incredibly nervous, ““Why do I have the feeling that you knew your father was fine?” He whispered softly into her ear.
Liz froze she didn’t say anything at first, then she turned around slowly to face Max but he didn’t move. He was standing just inches away from her, “I…I…” she stammered around trying to think of what to say. Max watched her carefully all the while praying that she wouldn’t lie to him or try to avoid the subject all together. Liz looked up into his eyes and swallowed, “Max I did know that my dad was healed, I knew when I left the hospital this afternoon.” She said softly her voice barely above a whisper.
“You did…I guess my next question would be how?” He asked her as he leaned in even closer. Liz felt so unnerved; he was so close she began to tremble. Max noticed that he was still able to have an effect on her; he also noticed that she was hesitating again, “Liz you said before that you trusted me, and I hope that you know you can.”
She looked into his eyes, more then anything she wanted to read his thoughts but before she had a chance the sound of his voice threw off her concentration, “Did you heal your father…was that another one of the side effects of my healing you.” He asked.
Liz stared into his beautiful hazel eyes and took in a deep breath, “No not exactly…” she said softly.
“Ok, what exactly happened then?” He said as he brushed a stray hair away from her face. Liz felt her heart pound as his hand brushed against her cheek, “Max…it was Jaysa .” She said her voice barely above a whisper.
He pulled back from her. He knew now more then ever he would have to guard his thoughts just in case Liz slipped, he choose his next words with extreme care, “Jaysa healed him, she has powers?”
“Yes, she can do other things too, she started showing signs when she was only a few months old.” Liz said feeling a bit more at ease now that he wasn’t standing so close.
Max was actually stunned now that his suspicions were confirmed and in a strange way kind of proud but he was careful not to give anything away, “That’s remarkable what else can she do?”
Liz seemed almost relieved when she told him about the different things that Jaysa was able to do and how young she was when she began to show signs of being different. Max didn’t want to pressure Liz to much but he found him self pushing just a bit further, “So she is able to do all this because I changed you, is that it?”
Liz bit her lip, “Well actually…” she started to say. “Umm yeah that’s right. Hey Mom, Max is here.” She called seeing her mom as she came down the stairs.
Max turned around to see Nancy Parker heading towards them. “Oh Dr. Evans, how are you this evening? I just off the phone with Jeff; did you give Liz the good news yet?” she asked.
Max forced a smile and shook his head, “Yes, actually I was just doing that…so any way Liz your dad is doing better and the medicine seemed to be working for him.”
Liz smiled, “That’s great, and we were so worried about him too.”
Nancy began fixing her self a cup of tea, “Yes that was to close a call for my comfort, I just don’t know what I would do if anything happened to your father.” She said. “Jeff said you told him he would have to stay on medicines for awhile to insure no new clots formed and that he would have to follow a strict diet and exercise routine, I just wanted you to know that I will make sure that he does everything he is supposed to.”
“I know you will, well I better get back out there don’t want to keep the happy couple waiting.” Max said as he said good night to Mrs. Parker.
“Mom we are just helping Maria and Michael with some wedding plans so I will be up in awhile ok?” She explained then kissed her mom good night.
“Alright dear, Sara and I were just watching a movie.” Nancy said as she headed back up the stairs.
Liz grabbed the sodas and snacks then went back out into the restaurant. She had almost told Max everything, but then her mother walked in. Maybe it was better that things worked out this way she thought, if she had told him who knows how he would have reacted and it wouldn’t have been fair to Maria or Michael she thought to her self. Max sat back down in the booth, and waited for Liz, he was feeling so frustrated at the moment he knew that if her mother had not come down that she would have told him about Jaysa. Moments latter Liz came back in with the sodas and some chips and salsa.
“Liz you and I need to go shopping soon for my dress and for yours. I was thinking that maybe red would be pretty on you what do you think?” Maria said as she took out her notebook.
Liz shook her head, “Red is pretty, but it’s kind of over done, last year I photographed several summer weddings and they all had the bridesmaids in red.”
“Really…I don’t want that then. What do you think Michael?” Maria asked.
Michael shook his head, “What ever you want Maria, as long as I don’t have to wear a tux.” Maria shook her head in frustration and an argument erupted between the two of them over what Michael would wear. Liz looked at Max he was staring at her; she wondered what he was thinking. She wondered if he was thinking any more about Jaysa or not, she knew that she had promised not to read his thoughts but she couldn’t resist the temptation once again. She smiled then turned away, as she concentrated on his thoughts. He was thinking about how he loved seeing her in dark green, how the color brought out her eyes and how beautiful she looked in it. Liz turned to look at him and smiled, then she turned to Maria, “You know what… why not just let Michael and Max wear matching black suits, and maybe we could do a really dark green knee length dress for me what about that? It doesn’t have to be really formal, formal does it?” she asked, not noticing the look that Max shot at her.
Maria smiled, “Ok that works, I love that idea, because the dress I was going for was more of a peasant style anyway.”
Michael let out a sigh of relief, “that’s fine by me.”
Liz turned to look at Max again this time she found his eyes staring at her intently. She turned away and tried not to read his thoughts but she just couldn’t seem to help her self. Liz Parker you can not be trusted was his only thought. She looked back over at him, she felt guilty for breaking her promise. She moved over closer to him, “Ok, ok I know, I am awful it’s just really hard some times… I’m sorry.” she whispered softly as she leaned over even closer toward Max. When Max didn’t say anything she looked directly into his eyes and pleaded, “Forgive me…please, I only said green because of what you were thinking and that’s kind of like a compliment to your good taste.” She said in earnest. He smiled and shook his head, “Just this once.” Liz smiled at him then turned her attention back to Maria and Michael who were now arguing about where to have the wedding ceremony. Max shifted a bit in the seat and put his arm across the back, he also took note of the fact that Liz did not move away from him.

Ok I just thought I would update to this story just to let you know I have not forgtten it. Is anyone still reading this even its been so long????
Liz was glad to finally have the happy couple, happy again…after several arguments and heated discussion Maria and Michael finally agreed on the plans for their wedding. Liz was in the kitchen cleaning up when Max walked in, “Can I help put this stuff away?
“Oh don’t worry about it; I will get to it in the morning.” Liz told him.
“I don’t mind helping besides you look really tired.” Max told her.
Liz laughed, “I am actually, sharing a bed with a toddler is not the easiest thing to do.”
“I can imagine it wouldn’t be.” Max said as he watched her move about the room.
“Hey Max, we are going to take off, here is Michael’s keys so you can get home.” Maria told him as she handed him the keys.
“Thanks.” He told her.
“Ok, Liz I will see you tomorrow first thing.” Maria reminded her.
“Yes… I remember.” Liz told her.
Max stood there while Maria hugged Liz goodnight and then left. Liz smiled at him, “Well I better get to bed, it is getting late and I still want to grab a shower so I guess I will see you.”
Liz told him.
Max scrambled trying to think of a reason to stay when Jasysa came bounding down the stairs, “Mommy…I had a bad dream.” She cried. Max was closer to her then Liz so he climbed the stairs and scooped her up into his arms, “Hey there…it’s alright, your mommy is right here.” He told her.
Jaysa wrapped her arms around Max neck and held him tight, “I had a bad dream, there was a man, a bad man and he was taking me far away from Mommy. It freighted me.” She cried into Max shoulder. Max patted her on the back and then brushed her hair away from her face, “its ok Jaysa really.”
Liz walked over and took her from Max arms and sat down at the table with her, “Max is right sweetie it was just a dream, nothing bad is going to happen, no bad men here to steal you from mommy.”
Jaysa wouldn’t stop crying though, “Yes there is… he is coming or maybe already here, he wants to take me and I don’t want to go…..please don’t let him take me please?” she begged between sobs. Liz was beginning to feel a bit panicked it wasn’t like her daughter to get so upset by a bad dream. She looked up at Max, “I’m sorry, but I need to take her up and get her back to sleep.”
Max stood there not really sure what to do, he could tell Liz was upset now too, “Is there anything I can do?”
Liz shook her head no. “Thank you for asking though.” She said as she started to go up the stairs. Jaysa began crying even more, “No mommy I want Max to stay with me, please.”
Liz looked over at Max not sure what to do, “Jaysa Max can’t stay here with you he has to go home, I’m here I will take care of you.”
Jaysa began crying harder, “No mommy no….”
Max walked over to Liz and patted Jaysa on the back to calm her, “If you want me to stay with you I will.” Jaysa reached for him and Liz reluctantly let her go. She looked at Max and felt a bit helpless, “I’m sorry; I have never seen her like this. If you don’t mind it shouldn’t take her long to go back to sleep…” Liz said as she went upstairs.
Max carried his daughter up the stairs and held her tight; “it’s no problem at all.” He was glad actually to stay with her; he didn’t like the idea of leaving when she was so upset anyway. Liz opened the door and waited as Max brought Jaysa into the room. He sat down on the bed and cradled Jaysa in his arms, “Ok, I am going to stay with you for awhile, will that make you feel better?” he asked her.
Jaysa nodded her head, “Yes….I know if you’re here the bad man will not come, you too strong for him.” She said and snuggled into his arms closer.
Liz sat down next to him, “I don’t know what is going on she is never like this and I can’t remember her ever having a bad dream like this before.” She explained.
Max smiled, “Its no big deal, go get your shower and I will stay with her.”
Liz looked at him for a moment, “Are you sure?”
“Yes, I’m fine, she’s fine…we will be fine now go.” He told her. Liz leaned over and kissed Jaysa who was already beginning to drift off to sleep in Max’s arms then headed for the bathroom. Max kicked his shoes off and positioned himself over on the bed so that he would be more comfortable. He gently brushed Jaysa hair away from her face, she looked up at him, her eyes heavy with sleep, “Stay with me daddy, don’t let that bad man take me from mommy please.” She said half a sleep.
Max felt overwhelmed by her plea and having her call him daddy almost brought tears to his eyes, “I’ll stay Jaysa…I promise you, now go to sleep ok.” He said softly as he kissed the top of her head. Jaysa crawled underneath the covers and snuggled up close to Max. He closed his eyes and held her tight; he felt her breathing relax as she drifted off to sleep. He couldn’t help think about all the times he missed being with her, he made up his mind no matter what happened between him and Liz he was not going to loose his daughter ever again. He was beginning to feel sleepy himself and decided to close his eyes for just a bit until Liz was done with her shower. It didn’t take long before he drifted off to sleep as well. Liz finished her shower and slipped into her PJ’s then headed back out to find Max fast asleep and Jaysa curled up next to him. She didn’t know what to do they looked so sweet together and having him there obviously made Jaysa feel safer Liz thought. She decided to climbed into bed next to her daughter and not disturb them it wasn’t long before she was fast asleep.
Max could see the sun light as it filtered through the bedroom window, it took him several seconds to realize that this wasn’t a dream, that he was in Liz’s bed and it really was her curled up next to him with her arms draped across his chest. He gently pulled her closer to him loving the way it felt to wake up with her in his arms. Liz responded by snuggling even closer to him and gently whispered his name, “Oh Max.”
He smiled, she must be dreaming about him he thought to himself, that was a good sign at least. He looked down and saw Jaysa playing quietly on the floor with her building blocks. She didn’t notice that he was awake, he was amazed at how well behaved a child she was, to entertain herself so her mother could sleep awhile longer. He was just about to carefully slip out of bed and get up when the door opened just a bit and Max could hear Nancy Parkers voice call out quietly to Jaysa who responded by jumping up and running over to the door and then out with her grandmother. Max smiled to himself for a moment wondering how Liz would respond to waking up and finding herself alone in bed with him, he turned his body so he could better see her. She was still as beautiful today as she was the day she left. He ran his hand down along her arm and gently caressed it. Much to his surprise Liz pushed herself forward moaning his name softly and began to kiss him along the neck and up across his chin until finally reaching his mouth. Max didn’t say anything he knew she was dreaming but he couldn’t help himself he pulled her closer and captured her mouth with his. Their kiss quickly escalated into a very passion filled embrace. Liz moaned softly again as Max slipped his hand underneath her top and along the small of her back. Holding her this way was something he had dreamed about for so many nights over the past 5 years that he couldn’t help himself. She pulled his shirt free from his jeans and began caressing his back and shoulders arching her body up and closer to his. Max rolled her over and underneath him sending shivers through her as he kissed her. He breathed her name as their kiss ended. Liz’s eyes suddenly flew open and she tried to push herself away from him, “Oh, what in the…” but Max held her in place, “Good morning…” He said with a smile on his face as he stared into her eyes.
Liz looked up into his eyes and tried to keep from turning red, “Umm…what….what is…” she stumbled around trying to decide on what to say.
Max began playing with her hair his head just inches away form hers, “Aren’t you going to say good morning to me?”
Liz shook her head, “Good Morning Max…. now if you don’t mind I would like to get up.” She said as she tried to move from underneath him. “Where is Jaysa?”
“She is with your mother; she came and got her earlier.” Max said as he leaned down and kissed her along the neck. Liz felt her body reacting to his kiss and the way he was caressing her back, “Max what are you doing, let me up…stop that?” she said feeling herself flush with excitement.
He stopped and leaned over her on one elbow so he could watch her reaction, “That’s not what you said just a little while ago.”
She swallowed and then bit her lip, “Its not…” she said her voice barely above a whisper.
“No, you pulled me into your arms and began kissing me so I just thought I would oblige you.” He told her.
“Well I was obviously asleep but I am awake now so could you please let me up?” she said feeling extremely embarrassed.
“Ok if you’re sure that’s what you want me to do.” He said as she ran his hand down along the inside of her arm and began kissing her neck again. Liz wanted more then anything to wrap her arms around his neck and pull him closer but she knew that if she did she would loose control completely. She forced herself to keep a clear head, “Max please…” she whispered softly.
Max held his head just inches above hers and stared intently into her eyes, “I’ve missed you so incredibly much….” He whispered softly his voice filed with emotion.
Tears formed in her eyes as she searched his to make sure this wasn’t some trick, “You have Max…really.”
He smiled and began kissing the corner of her mouth slowly, “How could you doubt it?”
“Oh Max I …” Liz whispered but stopped at the sound of the bedroom door opening, she quickly wiped her eyes. Max jumped and Liz sat up still breathing heavy as Jaysa came running in. Max sat back and smiled as he watched her run into the room and jump on the bed, “Mommy…I made you some scramble eggs and potatoes and some bacon too, come on you don’t want it to get cold.” She said as she pulled on Liz’s arm.
Max smiled, “Hey there princess, how are you this morning?”
Jaysa laughed at him calling her a princess, “I am fine…I made you some too and orange juice, come on.” She said as she reached over and pulled on Max hand as well.
Max laughed, “You did, well that was very nice of you.”
“Jaysa, did you tell Grandma that Max stayed here last night?” Liz asked not sure how her mother would react to her having a man sleep in her room.
“Yeap, come on or it will get yucky and cold.” Jaysa said as she crawled off the bed and out the door.
Max watched as Liz got up and headed into the bathroom to comb her hair, he stood in the door way and watched her, “Do you think your mother is going to be upset by my being here?”
Liz shook her head nonchalantly, “No, why should she, its not as if anything happened…I mean Jaysa was here the whole time and that’s all there is to it.” She said feeling awkward.
Max smiled mischievously, “Well that’s not quite all there was to it.” He reminded her.
Liz walked past him not responding to his remark, so Max took matters into his own hands. He grabbed her hand and pulled her into his arms, “Want me to remind you.”
Liz looked into his eyes and was just about to say something when the sound of Jaysa voice calling out to them stopped her, “I think this is going to have to wait, my daughter can be very impatient and she is waiting.” Liz told him as she pulled herself free and headed towards the door.
“Our daughter.” He whispered under his breath as she left the room. He thought about how good it felt to hold her in his arms. The flashes he saw when he held her in his arms where more of the same, her with Jaysa as a baby, holding her, caring for her, but this time there were some of the two of them as we; the longing and the loneliness that almost seemed to over whelm him was confusing he had always assumed that Liz had left because she regretted what had happened between the two of them, now he wasn’t so sure. Max followed them down the stairs and went to sit down at the counter next to Jaysa, “So did you make this all by yourself?” he asked.
“Well I had some help from Grandma, but she let me pour the juice and crack the eggs.” Jaysa told them.
“Well this is very good, and I love orange juice.” Max told her as he took a sip. Liz sat quietly watching the two of them as they chatted back and forth. She had never seen Jaysa take to someone as quickly as she had to Max. Of course their was probably a connection between the two of them, she knew Jaysa felt it but she wondered if Max did too? Liz smiled thinking about their time together that morning and how good it felt to be in his arms again after all these years. She knew he still wanted her physically and she didn’t have to read his mind either to know it.
“Hey so this is were you stayed last night…interesting?” Maria said as she walked through the door.
“Good morning Maria.” Max said, “I bet Michael was wondering where his car is ugh?”
“Yeap, don’t worry I let him keep mine, so are we ready to go Liz?” Maria asked.
“Yea, just let me check with Sara see if she can watch Jaysa for awhile.” Liz said as she finished eating.
“I can take care of Jaysa today Liz. Go with Maria I have the day off.” Max offered.
Liz looked at Jaysa then back at Max, “Oh I don’t know I think that I should just ask Sara or my mother?”
Max laughed, “Come on, I can handle this. I am a doctor after all.” He told her then added, “Unless you have some specific reason for not wanting me to watch her.”
“No it’s not that, I just didn’t want to bother you that’s all.” Liz said not sure what else to say.
“Then it’s settled, you go and I will take care of Jaysa.” Max said. “So princess, are you done eating?”
Jaysa nodded her head yes. Max scooped her up into his arms and carried her off towards the kitchen, “Ok then how about we get you all cleaned up.”
Liz could hear her laughing as they left the room. Maria wasted no time in asking, “Alright so what is going on with you and Max? He stayed here last night with you?”
Liz picked up their dishes and headed towards the kitchen, “No Maria it wasn’t like that, Jaysa came downstairs she had a bad dream and wanted Max. She was really upset and she wouldn’t even let me hold her.”
Maria shook her head, “So that was all there was to it then, he stayed the night because Jaysa was upset by a bad dream and nothing happened between the two of you, nothing at all?” She asked seeing the look on Liz face.
Liz smiled and leaned in towards her, “Ok well maybe a little something happened, when I woke up this morning Jaysa was already up and gone and it was just Max and I in the bed and well…we kissed a little.”
“I knew it; I told Michael last night that something was going on between you too. I just knew it.” Maria said her voice filled with excitement. “OH Liz this is perfect you and Max will get back together and we can have a double wedding!”
Liz laughed, “Ok earth to Maria, I said we kissed a little that’s it, besides I still haven’t told him about Jaysa and he may never speak to me again after I do.” She added in a more serious tone.
“Well the longer you wait the worse it makes it; just tell him, there isn’t anything stopping you.” Maria told her as she poured her self a glass of juice.
“I know, and I will I just want to I have some time alone with him, when Jaysa doesn’t come running in to interrupt you know.” Liz explained. “Anyway I am going to go get changed and we can head out alright.”
Max helped Jaysa pick out her outfit for the day, “I think these shorts are very nice and I like this pink shirt with the little butterflies on the front how about that?” he asked.
Jaysa smiled, “Ok, I am going to change in the bathroom though because of my modesty, so you sit on the bed and wait for me.”
Max laughed and then did as he was told, “Ok I will wait right here.” Jaysa picked up her things and went into the bathroom then closed the door behind her.
Liz walked in to find Max sitting on her bed, “Umm where is Jaysa?” she asked.
“She said I had to wait here for her to change, she said she had her modesty.” he told Liz smiling.
Liz laughed, “Oh yeah, well she was turning into quite the exhibitionist there for awhile so Sara and I had to explain that she need to be more modest. You know close the door when she is using the potty and not run around the house naked after her bath especially when there are guest in the house like my boss.”
Max busted out laughing, “She didn’t do that, did she?”
“Yes she did, there I was talking to my boss when here comes Jaysa fresh from the tub and not a thing on. “ Liz explained.
“I bet that was a shock for your boss too ugh?” Max said still laughing.
“Yeah well luckily he has three children of his own so he understood.” She told him as she finished grabbing her own clothes from the closet. “Well I guess I better practice what I preach; I’ll just be a moment.”
“That’s ok I wouldn’t mind watching you change.” Max told her.
Liz stopped and looked at him, her cheeks blushing a bright red, “Maxwell Evans I can’t believe you just said that.” Then she went in and closed the bathroom door behind her.
