KYLE
The sudden talk of dancing made me think of my full stomach. A bit dancing might help me feel better but ... c'mon, I'm a guy! Guys don't do the dancing. They watch chicks dance, they have fantasies while watching two or three chicks dancing but they don't dance themselves.
"I hope the club's fun and it's not one of those places where you can't do much more than dancing cause I'm certainly no dancer." I tell Tess.

Great. Everyone seems to be ready to go. I turn to Tess, pulling out her chair for her and offering her my hand. "Let's go have some fun," I tell her.
My mind, however, is still mulling over Kels' words. She didn't say it directly but it sure sounded like she was saying that Liz might like me. As much as I want that, I'm almost afraid to believe it. I glance in Liz's direction as Tess gets to her feet. Liz is also looking in my direction, but she quickly turns away when she sees that I see her.
Wow. Could it actually be true?

Max pulls my chair out for me and says, "Let's go have some fun," before I can reply to Kyle's comment, so I wait a second to smile and nod my head at Max before turning to face Kyle.
"Now why don't I believe that, hmmm Valenti? I would have thought you were quite the ladies' man out on the dance floor." A little out-and-out flattery never hurts.
"What... what makes you say that?" Kyle's actually starting to blush! Hah, who knew it would be so easy?
"Oh, I dunno. I saw you on the dance floor the last time we were at the club. You looked like you were having a great time dancing with Liz. Or was I mistaken and that was just some kind of rythmic standing?" I finish with a chuckle. Damn! He's even cuter when he's blushing.
And Max is waiting for me to walk out with him. But he's also got this distracted look on his face and I can give one good guess as to the cause. Maybe the trip to the club this time will yield more interesting results than the last time. Oh, please let that be the case.

I feel my face heat up at Tess' words as I trott outside behind her and Max. She was actually watching me! That's cool! NOt that I've never been watched before by a girl - I have, dozen times! - but still, Cool!
"You guys coming or not?" I yell back when I realize that the others are still at the table.

Hi everyone. I just want to apologize for being absent for so long. I've just been so busy with so many things recently. And then added onto that my computer decided to melt things and basically die. But yes, I'm here now. And I hope that this isn't nearly as bad as I think it is. I'm sorry, and I really missed this.

We all begin to collect our things as we decide on leaving the restaurant and heading over to whatever club was chosen for my birthday. Now that I think about it, I don’t even know if my parents will be coming. I don’t even know if I’m ready to let them go. It’s just so nice to have them here. It’s such a comfort to have them here that I’m reluctant to let them go. I know. I’m a baby and having my parents around makes me feel better. Safe.
I look over and see Max help Tess out of her seat, and my mind wanders back to how amazed I am that Max arranged all this. I know he hasn’t said so, but it just feels like this whole event, if I can call it that, has his indelible feel like Max had something to do with it. I’m still so shocked that he did something like this for me. And he hardly knows me.
His gaze connects with mine and I turn away, tucking a stray piece of hair behind my ear. I move to pick up a couple of presents when I hear Kels say, “How are you doing, birthday girl?”
“Great. I’m doing great.” I catch her eye and notice a glint that I’m very familiar with. “Kels, what are you up to? And should I be worried?”

I laugh as Kels draws me into a hug. “Well, then you’re doing a great job because I am having such a good time with you here.” I’m still wary of what she was telling me. I know that look, but there’s not much I can do but hope that she’s telling the truth and that I don’t have to worry about whatever it is that she’s up to.

I wonder if now is a good moment to ask Liz about that kiss with Mike. I better wait till we are at the club and Max is not around.

I wave my hand dismissingly at that as we get up after Kyle's yell. Pulling iz's chair out, I say, "See, that's the problem. WIth these 18 years, you are so into the conventional dancing moves that you won't be able to compete with me and my unique way of dancing."
What the hell am I talking aobut???
"Besides," I say a lot quieter. "What's 18 years of dancing lessons compared to 1 strip?"
