Trick or Treat

By: KaraGail

Alex stood at the door of his house and waved good bye to his parents as they left for their costume party. “Have a great time!”

“Bye sweetie” His mother called back and he almost chuckled at the sight of her and his dad dressed up as Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf. He tried not to think of what they would be doing later with those same costumes.

Once their car pulled out of the drive, Alex shut the door and headed back to the living room. He spotted the huge bowl of candy sitting on the coffee table waiting for the first round of trick-or-treaters that would come through out the evening. He had been left with the duty of passing the treats out since he had decided not to participate in any events this year.

With a heavy sigh he plopped into his dads recliner and picked up the remote. He hoped to find something on television to take his mind off the fact that this was one of his favorite holiday’s and somehow, this year, he was spending it

His two best friends, Liz and Maria, were stuck working at The Crashdown and without them it wasn’t the same. Alex smiled as he thought about those past Halloween evenings when the three of them had dressed up, he as one of his favorite super heroes and them as princess’, and then they spent hours knocking on neighbors doors and screaming “TRICK OR TREAT!”

Alex knew things would eventually change and they would have to grow up but there were times, like tonight, when he wished he could turn back the clock to those simpler days and relive them over again. But he knew that none of their lives would ever be that simple again.

They knew a secret that many would kill to know. It was a secret that the three of them had vowed to take to their graves and never tell another soul. A secret that had gotten them into trouble during the last year over and over again. While others theorized and speculated, they knew the truth. ALIENS DO EXIST.

Not only do they exist but they were on earth. In fact 4 of them currently lived in Roswell and went to the same high school as Liz, Maria and himself.

Alex frowned as he thought about the event that took place that revealed the secret. One day while working at the Crashdown Liz had been shot during a scuffle between 2 patrons. One certain customer had rushed to her side and healed her with no thought to his own safety.

It hadn’t taken long after that for Liz to figure out that Max Evans, his sister Isabel, and their friend, Michael Guerin, were aliens. Maria had found out a few days later and Alex was finally let in on the secret a few months later.

He recalled those months as the worse time of his life. He had felt abandoned by his friends who had gone secretive on him and seemed to always vanish at the drop of a hat. Alex had spent many hours worrying over the girls who had become sisters to him and when he was let in on the truth his worry seemed to triple.
Alex sighed again as he shook his head. Liz and Maria weren’t the real reason why he was home alone tonight. He could have gone to the Costume party dance that the school was putting on that evening. In fact, he had the perfect costume hidden in the back of his closet where he had placed it a few weeks ago. A policeman’s uniform.

Thinking about that uniform made Alex groan aloud as he remembered that night when he had come home, not only embarrassed, but heartbroken. It had all happened on the night of the surprise birthday party of one of their resident aliens, Isabel Evans.

DING DONG! The doorbell rang breaking Alex out of his thoughts as he stood from his seat and grabbed the bowl of candy.

“TRICK OR TREAT!” Four little kids dressed up as Batman, Harry Potter, Spider-man and Wolverine cried out as the door opened.

Alex grinned at them and handed out a handful of candy to each while giving them compliments on their costumes. This was what Halloween was about to him. Kids who got to dress up for one night and become something or someone that they could only fantasize of.

He waved at the parents standing at the curb who were waiting on their children before going back into the house. Looking at the clock he noticed that it was already 7:30. The party at the school should already be in full swing and he wondered briefly if SHE was there.

“Stop it, Alex” he scolded himself as he went back to his seat, “It’s over between you two. She made it very clear that she wasn’t ready for a relationship that day in the Crashdown. And if that didn’t make it obvious then the fact that she showed up to her birthday party with a date should have.”

His heart still ached over the fact that she had flaunted her relationship with an older man in front of him when he was still reeling over the fact that just days prior she had told him that she couldn’t date anyone. Though he hadn’t known about her date until after he had made a fool of himself by stripping out of the Police uniform in front of everyone in an attempt to make her smile and have a good time.

Alex had been told by Maria and Liz what had happened with Isabel and the new girl in town, who also was an alien, Tess. Though he had seen her many times since then at school or at the diner they had never gotten the chance to speak with one another.

Which comes to the real reason why Alex Whitman was sitting home alone instead of going to the party and enjoying the festivities. He believed that Isabel would be attending and by her side would be the new man in her life, Grant Sorenson. So he had made the choice to stay home and brood instead of going to the party and getting his heart stepped on all over again.

DING DONG! The door bell rang again and he repeated his actions from earlier as he again handed out the candy.

He was about to shut the door when he looked up to see a lonely figure walking up his path way. He didn’t have to see her face to know who she was especially since she had starred in almost everyone of his dreams since he was 10.

“Isabel?” he asked with a frown wondering what she was doing here.

“Hey Alex” she smile as she climbed his steps and stopped in front of him, “Happy Halloween”

Alex nodded but continued to frown, “Is someone in trouble or are we having a meeting?”

She shook her head, “No. Nothing like that.” Isabel shrugged her shoulders, “I was at the Crashdown and Maria and Liz said you were home tonight so I thought I would stop by.”

Again he nodded as he stood there gazing into her brown eyes and not being able to say anything. For the millionth time he was awed by her natural beauty and gave himself a mental kick at the fact that he hadn’t figured out that she was an alien on his own. He should have known that there was nothing on earth more beautiful to him than Isabel Evans.

“Umm..Can I come in?” She asked as they continued to stand there a few minutes longer.

Alex gave himself another mental kick as well and stepped to the side so that she could enter the house. He continued to remain silent as they made their way to the living room where the tv was the only sound heard.

Finally remembering his manners he asked her, “Would you like something to drink?”

Isabel turned to him and gave a smile, “Sure. Do you have cherry coke?”

“Yes as well as some Tabasco sauce.”

She chuckled and reached into the pocket of her jacket to pull out her own bottle, “It’s like my Credit card. I ‘never leave home with out it’ “

Alex returned her smile, “Well make yourself at home and I will get the drinks. My parents are out at a party so it’s just me here giving out the candy tonight.”

“Sounds like fun.”

“Oh yeah. It’s been a barrel of laughs.” he gave her another smile before heading into the kitchen leaving her there.

Alex was still wondering why she was her at his house when he had just been picturing her out with Grant or some of her friends from school. But instead she was sitting in his living room waiting for him to return with her drink.

DING DONG! The doorbell rang again.

“I’ll get it, Alex!” Isabel called from the living room.

“Thanks!” he returned as he scrounged in the cabinets for plates. His mom had made her famous chocolate cake for dinner and he thought Isabel would like a piece.

A few minutes later he returned to the empty living room. Setting the small tray down he walked over to the entry way to find Isabel standing there with the bowl of candy smiling down at a little tow headed girl that couldn’t be dressed up as anything but a princess.

Alex gave a small chuckle as he thought how funny it was that this little wannabe princess was actually talking to a real princess and she had no idea. He watched the animated conversation for a few minutes as he realized that it had been weeks since he had seen Isabel smile like she was doing now.

“Happy Halloween” Isabel called out as the kids departed and she shut the door and turned to Alex, “They were just too cute.”

He nodded, “I know. I was just sitting here a few minutes ago remembering how Maria, Liz and I would go trick or treating every year.”

She gave him another smile as they headed back to the living room, both settling on the couch to begin eating the snacks that he had brought from the kitchen, “Max and I used to trick or treat when we were little. That was until we realized that every day to us was Halloween.”

Alex frowned, “What do you mean?”

Isabel sighed, “Once we realized that we were not of this earth it became apparent that we were wearing a costume every day. One we couldn’t take off and return home.”

“I’m sorry, Isabel” He consoled her, “I know how hard it is to want to fit in with everything around you but somehow knowing that it will never happen.”

She frowned at that, “You feel that way?”

Alex nodded, “Every day of my life.”

Isabel seemed to think this over for a moment before nodding. He had no idea how she had taken his comment but he had just wanted to be truthful with her. They sat in silence for a few moments enjoying their cake and drinks before Alex spoke the question that was on his mind since she arrived.

“Why are you here, Isabel?”

The tall alien princess looked at him before quickly looking away, “Well...umm..I’m not really sure, Alex.”

He sat their quietly trying to encourage her to talk instead of trying to understand her motives by questioning her.

“Actually I do know why I am here.” Isabel took in a deep breath and looked over at him, “I wanted to say I am sorry, Alex.”

He frowned not understanding, “Sorry for what?”

“I’m sorry for how I have been treating you.” she closed her eyes and shook her head, “I’m not proud of the things I have said and done to you over the year, Alex. You have been nothing but kind, gentle and caring to me even when I am totally the opposite to you.”

Alex sat there shocked at her words. He never thought that the Ice Queen of West Roswell High would ever admit to ever do anything wrong. This girl had been known to date and dump many of the popular good looking guys at school without even giving a glance back. But here she was apologizing to him, the Geek of West Roswell High.

“Why now, Isabel?” he asked wondering what had happened to make her say these things.

The blonde reached out and took his hand, “Tonight as I was sitting in the Crashdown talking with Max and the others I felt that something was missing. When I looked around I noticed one face missing in the crowd. A face that has always been there year after year without me ever realizing it.” she sighed and reached up to cup his cheek in her hand, “I missed your face, Alex.”

He enjoyed her touch for a moment before reaching up and taking her hand in his and removed it from his face, “What about Grant?”

Isabel closed her eyes and shook her head before opening them again, “Grant was nothing more than a diversion, Alex. Someone who could help me escape my reality for a few hours because he did not know the truth.” She gave his hand a squeeze “I was scared of my feelings and I just wanted something that I could control.”

Alex continued to listen as she sat there with tears pooling in her eyes. He wanted more than anything to pull her into his arms and comfort her but knew if he did she would never finish telling him what seemed to be weighing heavily on her heart

“On the rare occasion that I allow myself to think about a future here on earth there is only one person I think of spending it with.” she pulled his hand to her and pressed it over her heart, “Alex, you are that person.”

He knew his mouth was hanging open in shock as he heard her admit that she wanted a future with him. There was no denying that he had often dreamed about this moment but nothing compared to the real thing.”So what are you saying, Isabel? Do you want to be with me?”

The blonde nodded as the tears slipped down her cheeks, “I never stopped.”

With those words, Alex could no longer control himself and wrapped her in his arms pulling her close. He pressed his lips against her ear whispering soothing words as she continued to cry into his shoulder. He knew that they were not tears of sorrow but of relief that he had forgiven her and still wanted to be with her even after everything she had done.

Finally he pulled back and looked into her eyes, “I feel like I have waited a life time for you. I promise that you will never regret your choice.”

She bit the bottom of her lip and gave a shy smile, “That will never happen.”

Alex returned her smile before dropping his lips to hers and kissed her soft and slowly wanting to savor this moment of sweetness. He knew they would have moments in the future where everything would be crazy but he hoped his love for the alien princess would always bring her back to him. Nothing would keep them apart now...

DING DONG!

Except for those damned Trick or Treaters.

Then End.

A/N This is a sequel to my fic Trick or Treat. It was something just thrown together in a few hours so please be kind

Happy Thanksgiving (at least to those in the USA)

1/1

Isabel stood in the dining room checking to make sure that the silver ware had been arrange correctly on the table. This was her first Thanksgiving with Alex and she just wanted everything to be perfect.

Seeing nothing out of place, she went back to the kitchen where her mother was sliding the turkey back into the oven. Isabel knew she was driving her mother crazy with her perfectionist tendencies but she figured that maybe it would keep her mind off the fact that her brother had disappeared to New York.

At first her mother had not wanted to celebrate the holiday, but after a bout of tears, she gave in. So in just under an hour not only would the usual crowd of grandparents, aunts and uncles appear but so would Alex Whitman.

“Relax sweetie.” Dianne said to her daughter as she noticed her agitated state. She couldn’t help but wonder for the umpteenth time about the boy who caused this reaction in Isabel. This would be her first official meeting of him since they began to date.

“I can’t help it mom. I just want to make a good impression with Alex.” Isabel said as she opened the door to the pantry, “We did get the orange soda, right? It’s Alex’s favorite.”

Her mother couldn’t help but smile at the worry in her daughter’s voice, “Yes. You called me twice on my cell phone yesterday while I was at the store to remind me.”

“What time is the family coming?” Isabel said as she wondered if she should walk through the house just to make sure everything was still tidy from her cleaning spree the night before.

“Probably any time now. What time did you tell Alex to arrive?”

Looking at the microwave clock Isabel was surprised to see it was already after 12:00, “I told him around 1:00. His parents were driving to Las Cruces for a late lunch with his grandparents and Alex was coming after he saw them off on their trip.”

Dianne gave her daughter a nod before turning back to continue fixing dinner. She only had a few more minutes before the mob would appear and she had to make sure everything got done before then, “Why don’t you tell your father that everyone should be here shortly.”

Isabel turned and headed out of the kitchen stopping in the living room to relay the message to her dad before she ran upstairs to her room. She shut the door and slump against it wondering if it had been a wise idea to invite Alex to such a large family function. She should have just waited until it was just her parents and them.

With a sigh she walked over to her dresser. Already the Thanksgiving meal was ruined by her brother’s unexpected trip to New York. It had broken her mothers heart when he had not come home and seeing her mom so upset had caused Isabel to break down and cry along with her.

Isabel had almost canceled with Alex but since she had invited him a week ago and really wanted to spend the holiday with him she had talked her mother into having it any way.

She couldn’t help but smile as she recalled a few weeks ago on Halloween when she had found herself at his door and told him how she truly felt about him. Since then they had hardly been apart as they explored their new relationship.

Isabel had been so excited when she had invited him to Thanksgiving at her house. Isabel had wanted to show him off to her family and let them know that he was the one and that one day he would be a part of their family.

Checking out her image in her mirror she made sure not a single thing was out of place. Isabel knew Alex loved her no matter what she looked like but she couldn’t help but enjoy the thrill she got when his eyes popped out of his head at the sight of her.

DING DONG! The doorbell rang and for a moment Isabel thought about Halloween and how she and Alex had made use of the time between the kids Trick or Treating.

“Isabel! Could you get the door? It’s probably your grandparents.” Her mother called from the kitchen.

Flying down the stairs in record time she opened the door to hugs and kisses from her grandparents. Isabel hadn’t seen them in months and was very happy that they had come but still nervous about the whole situation.

Next her other relatives arrives and soon every one was crowded in the living room talking as they waited for the turkey to finish in the oven.

“So Max will not be joining us for dinner?” Grandma Evans asked with a slight frown on her face. Clearly she was disappointed in not seeing her grandson.

Isabel looked over at her mother and saw the tears form in her eyes at the thought of her missing son, “No Grandma. Max is away on a trip.”

Her uncle rubbed his belly and smiled, “That just mean more food for us.”

“Actually, Isabel’s boyfriend will be joining us for dinner.” Isabel’s father said causing her to redden as everyone’s eyes turned to look at her.

“Boyfriend?” Her aunt grinned, “Does this boyfriend have a name?”

“Alex Whitman” Isabel said

“Must be serious if you are willing to let him near us.” Her uncle said with an even bigger grin on his face.

Isabel’s worry increased as she saw the way each person was smiling. What were they planning? She wondered to herself.

While everyone finally gathered in the kitchen Isabel paced the entry way waiting for Alex. She didn’t have long to wait before the bell rang announcing his arrival. Quickly she flew open the door and pushed her startled boyfriend back on to the porch. In his hands he was carrying a cake pan which made her glad he hadn’t dropped it.

He gave her a worried look, “Is everything alright, Iz?”

Isabel nodded and glanced back over her shoulder hoping none of her family had come out, “I just wanted to warn you about my family. I think they are planning to interrogate you.”

Alex couldn’t help but smile, “I figured as much. I think I can handle your parents, Isabel.”

Isabel groaned. Why hadn’t she told him that her relatives would also be here today, “It’s not just my parents in there, Alex.”

He raised an eyebrow, “Did Max come back from New York?”

She shook her head, “My Grandpa and Grandma Evans are here as well as my aunt and uncle.”

Alex’s face blanched at the thought of facing her family. He knew that he could handle her parents but he didn’t think he could with the rest of the Evans’.

Seeing the distress in his eyes somehow calmed Isabel and she reached out and took his hand in hers, “It’s going to be okay, Alex. I know they are going to love you as much as I do.”

He gave a nod and tried to smile but the nervousness was still there. Isabel couldn’t help but chuckle before leaning forward and pressing a gentle kiss to his lips, ‘Come on before dinner starts getting cold.”

Alex followed her into the house and into the dinning room where everyone was already sitting. All eyes were focused on him as he stood there beside Isabel with the cake dish held protectively in front of him.

Isabel quickly made introductions to everyone leaving her parents for last. Alex put on his best smile for all of them just hoping that he would make it through dinner in one piece.

“Alex you didn’t have to bring anything.” Dianne said as she took the cake dish from him.

“Actually my mother thought it was a good idea since I tend to eat more than my fair share. She just wanted to even up the dessert a bit.” Alex chuckled over his mother’s words.

The entire table laughed over his comment and soon Isabel and Alex were seated at the table. Automatically his hand reached for hers under the table his nerves still very much apparent. Especially since most of the family was still looking at him and sizing him up.

Alex shouldn’t have worried though because with Isabel by his side he knew he could make it through anything. In fact, he had a great time with her family and he finally relaxed and enjoyed the meal.

Isabel was feeling proud of her boyfriend and even got a nod of approval from her mother when Alex was talking to her uncle. With very little effort he had unknowingly fit into the family and brightened a day that had almost been gloomy.

Leaning near him so that she could whisper in his ear, “See I told you they would love you.”

Alex turned to her and grinned as he squeezed her hand. Her heart flipped at the sight and she couldn’t help but return the grin. She had so many things to be thankful for after this year of ups and downs but the most important thing was sitting beside her.

The End.

Maria Deluca was the only waitress on duty at the Crashdown, which wasn’t a bad thing since it was December 23rd. Many of their customers were off at the malls and stores getting their last minute shopping done so that there were only a handful of people to wait on.

“So then I said ‘Dude, your chestnuts are on fire ”

She chuckled at the customer’s story while inwardly counting down the minutes that her shift would be over. There was plenty that she needed to do to get ready for Christmas and she had very little time to get it done.

After a final word with the talkative customer, Maria moved to a recently emptied table and began to clear away the dishes. She began to hum one of her favorite Christmas tunes for a few moments before giving in and singing aloud.

I’ll be home for Christmas
You can plan on me
Please have snow and mistletoe
and presents on the tree

Christmas eve will find me
where the love light gleams
I’ll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams

The bell over the door jingled letting her know that someone had arrived. Looking up she wasn’t surprised to see her best friend, Alex Whitman, walk into the café.

“Hi Alex” She gave him a bright smile as she continued to wipe the table, “I’ll be with you in a second.”

Alex gave her a slight nod as he made his way over to the counter to sit. Maria couldn’t help but frown as she realized that his ever present smile, that he always greeted her with, was missing from his face.

Quickly she finished her task and slid behind the counter to stand in front of him, “Do you want the usual?”

He turned his dark head toward her and for the first time since arriving he seemed to focus on her, “Orange soda on the rocks.”

Again Maria frowned at him. The only time he ever ordered his favorite drink “on the rocks” was when something was truly bothering him. So she quickly filled his glass and sat it down in front of him.

“Okay. Tell Maria what’s wrong.” She said as she leaned against the counter.

Alex ran a finger along the edge of his glass and gave an audible sigh. He didn’t know where to begin but he had come to the Crashdown hoping that one of his friends would lend an ear and help him sort out the confusion that was his love life.

Maria sat there and held back from asking any more questions. Alex would tell her in his own time and she just had to be patient. She inwardly groaned at that thought. Maria Deluca was never patient.

“A few weeks ago I volunteered to be Santa at the orphanage for Christmas Eve.” Alex said as he looked in his glass of orange soda as if looking for answers there.

Maria chuckled, “That’s great, Alex. I’m sure you will be a great Santa and the kids will adore you. There is no reason to be nervous.”

Thinking about those children caused a ghost of a smile to appear on his face. They were actually one of the reasons he had volunteered in the first place. The other reason was now the reason why he was so hesitant.

“It’s not that I’m nervous about the kids, Maria.” He looked back up at her with trepidation in his eyes, “It’s the fact that Isabel is coordinating the event and will be there.”

Maria raised her eyebrows over this information, “You are talking about our Isabel Evans, right? The Czechoslovakian?”

Alex nodded and gave a smile at the disbelief in his friends voice, “I know she shows that ice princess persona to most everyone but underneath Isabel is very kind and generous. In fact, she has been coordinating the Christmas program at the orphanage for the last couple of years.” He gave a small shrug of his shoulders, “But I don’t think it’s just because she is kind, which she is. I think she feels guilty over the fact that she and Max were adopted by two wonderful parents while other children stayed behind.”

Maria saw the wisdom in that and gave a nod in recognition, “Well if it’s not about the kids then what’s wrong, Alex?”

“I really don’t know Maria.” Alex ran a hand across the back of his neck, “I guess it’s the fact that a month ago Isabel was still talking to me and at least trying to be my friend even after she broke up with me and began to date Grant.” He gave his head another shake and looked back down at his drink, “I think she is avoiding me again, I have no idea what I have done to warrant it but we haven’t spoken in such a long time.”

“Oh sweetie.” Maria reached out and took his hand in hers wanting to comfort him.

Alex glanced back up at her, “Do you remember that summer, when we were 6 years old, and we went to the county fair? You and Liz had me get on that old fashioned merry go round that had the brass rings?”

Maria smiled at the memory he conjured, “I remember how we spent most of the afternoon trying to reach for the brass ring only to realize that our arms were not long enough.”

He nodded, “That’s how I’m feeling. It’s like we're on a merry go round and I keep reaching out for Isabel but she always escapes my grasp.” Alex released her hand with a sigh, “I’m just tired of going in circles and getting no where, Maria.”

The petite blonde shifted her gaze over his shoulder with a frown before moving back to her friend needing to console him, “Maybe it’s time for you to move on, Alex. Didn’t you have a date with the red head from your math class?”

“Molly?” he gave a gentle shake of his head and sighed, “She is a nice girl but I know that my heart will always belong to someone else.”

Maria whished there was something she could say to comfort him but she knew what it was like to be in love with an alien, “Well maybe next year will be better for all of us and you will be able to finally move on.”

Alex gave her another slight smile, “Thanks Maria. I think I just needed someone to listen to me ramble.”

She reached across the counter and squeezed his hand, “Any time sweetie.”

He rose from his seat, “Well I better go. We still on for our gift exchange tomorrow?”

Maria nodded and then tried to give him some more encouraging words, “Everything will work out, Alex. You’ll see.”

Alex gave her a wave and another smile before he headed out of the café. Her eyes followed him out the door before traveling back to land on the lone occupant of the booth in front of her. Alex had not been aware that the object of their conversation had been there the whole time listening.

Isabel’s brown eyes were focused on Maria waiting knowing that they small blonde would have something to say. If there was one thing that was predictable about the waitress it was that she would always stand up for her friends, especially if they had been hurt.

So she wasn’t surprised when all Maria said was, “It’s time to make up your mind, Isabel. I won’t let you continue to tear him apart.”

Maria then turned and vanished into the backroom leaving Isabel to contemplate all that had been said between the two friends.

Looking down at the papers in front of her she recalled the reason why she had come to the Crashdown in the first place. Isabel had hoped to find some place quiet where she could go over the last minute details for the Christmas program.

“That’s not true, Isabel” she sighed ‘You were actually trying to figure out a way so you didn’t have to be there tomorrow night while Alex played Santa.”

She wasn’t proud of that acknowledgement but she had been thinking of saving herself and not of hurting Alex more. But being the perfectionist that she was, Isabel knew that she would have to be there to make sure that everything went smoothly. She wasn’t called “The Christmas Nazi” for nothing.

Isabel had been so lost in her thoughts that only the sound of Maria greeting Alex as he entered made her look up. Her heart had raced at the sight of her ex-boyfriend as he made his way to the counter.

She had been relieved that he hadn’t noticed her huddled in the corner of the booth. For a moment she considered sneaking out when Alex and Maria began to discuss her. There was no surprise from her to know that Alex was fully aware that she was avoiding him. She couldn’t deny it.

The reason that she had been side stepping him wasn’t’ because that she no longer wanted to be with him, but because she did want to be with him. She was just afraid to let him in and see her true self. No matter how many times he tried to tell her he would care for her no matter what Isabel still had a hard time of believing it.

Isabel had continued to sit there with tears in her eyes as he described their relationship like a merry go round. She hadn’t realized that was what she was doing to him but knew that his analogy was right. They were going in circles and only she had the power to stop it.

Maria was right. It was time to decide what she wanted. Isabel could no longer avoid her feelings by pretending they didn’t exist. She needed to make her mind up and she had to do it before tomorrow night.

*********

Alex looked at the Santa suit, that he had yet to put on, and wondered if it would be hard to breathe with all the padding and whiskers. It definitely would conceal his tall lanky frame.

“Suck it up, Alex” he told his reflection in the mirror of the restroom he had been shown to change in when he had arrived, “This is for the kids.”

He could hear the sound of those children playing in the hallway as they waited excitedly for Santa to appear. Alex couldn’t help but smile as for the first time in weeks his mood lifter as he began to realize how small his problems were in relation to those parentless children out there.

A tap on the door tore him from his thoughts, “Come in.”

He was surprised to see Isabel enter and give him a hesitant smile. Even though he was trying to get over her, Alex couldn’t help but admire the red turtle neck sweater she wore. He had always loved her in red.

“Hi Alex. We are almost ready for Santa to make an appearance.” She stepped further into the room letting the door shut behind her, “I though I better go over with you the plan.”

He nodded since he was unable to say anything. Alex was calling himself every name in the book as he stood there looking at the girl he loved.

“When you come out all the kids should be seated around the Christmas tree.” Isabel then gave him some pointers on what to say and how to act as he appeared. “Your bag is right outside already filled with the presents. Just read the names on the tags aloud for the kids to come up for their presents.”

Alex gave another nod causing Isabel to frown slightly at his silence. Needing some sort of reassurance she leaned over and pressed a kiss to his cheek, “Thanks for doing this, Alex.”

His fingers itched to reach up and touch the spot where her lips had been but he controlled himself. Finally he was able to say, “Your welcome, Isabel.”

They stood there a moment just starring into the others eyes trying to read what the other was thinking at that moment.

‘What did she mean when she kissed me?’ Alex wondered to himself.

‘Is it too late?’ Isabel fretted hoping that he would give her the chance she so hopelessly wanted.

She took a step toward the door and gave him a smile that lit her face, “Well you better get dressed and I’ll see you in a few, Santa.”

Alex couldn’t help but return her smile as he watched her leave. ‘What was that all about?’

10 minutes later a fully costumed Alex stepped out into the door way of the room where all the kids had been corralled.

“HO! HO! HO! Merry Christmas! ” he bellowed and his heart filled with joy at seeing the girls and boys eyes light up at the sight of him.

“Santa! ” The kids shouted and ran to him as he entered the room. They began to jump on the balls of their feet each vying for the attention of the jolly old elf.

Isabel couldn’t help but smile as she watched Alex interact with the kids. She was so proud of the sweet and caring way he treated them giving each one special attention as he handed out the presents.

Alex was almost out of gifts as he pulled on after another from his huge red sack. All of the kids seemed to have settled somewhere on the floor playing with the toys that they had been given.

Reaching for the final present, which was at the bottom, Alex was surprised that it was quit small compared to the others. He lifted the tag to read out loud when the words died in his throat. He re-read it again to himself just to make sure he was seeing it right.

To Santa From Your Favorite Stargazer

Alex lifted his head as his eyes immediately searched for Isabel, who was sitting on the floor with a little girl playing with her first doll. Dropping the empty sack he fumbled with the package trying to unwrap it with his white gloved fingers. The box inside was less of a challenge as he took the lid off.

Reaching inside the box, his eyes widened at the sight of a brass ring nestled in the tissue paper. It was a brass ring that he had seen before as a child. A ring that was found on old fashion merry go rounds.

Heart racing he glanced back up until his eyes collided with Isabel’s. She was no longer sitting on the flood but standing there amid the chaos of the children.

Alex was next to her in two strides holding the ring up so that she could see it. Questions filled his eyes but all he could get out was, “How?”

Isabel smiled at the sight of the ring in his fingers, “I guess you finally caught the brass ring. You better hold on to it and never let it go.”

He was still confused wondering what she was saying by giving him this token. Seeing his look she took his hand in hers and pulled him toward the front door after motioning to an administrator that she was leaving with him for a moment, ‘Come on, Santa. I think we need to go somewhere private.”

All Alex could do was nod and follow her out of the room. He watched as she grabbed her coat and continued until they were outside and away from the prying eyes of the children.

Isabel turned to Alex as they stood on the porch, “I was at the Crashdown yesterday, Alex. I heard everything you said to Maria.”

Alex could feel the blush cross his face and was glad for the beard that covered it, “I’m sorry you were not supposed to hear that.”

She raised her hand to silence him, “I’m not sorry, Alex. I’m glad I hear that. It made me finally realize that I wasn’t doing either on of us good by staying away.”

He was glad she had finally brought it up and asked, “Why Isabel? I promise I would never hurt you?”

Isabel gave an audible sigh and a slight shrug as she starred into his green eyes, “I was never worried that you would hurt me, Alex. It was that I would hurt you.”

She reached out and took his gloved hand in hers, “But hearing you yesterday made me realize that I was already hurting you as well as myself.”

“Then don’t push me away.” He whispered as he looked into her eyes.

Isabel nodded as the tears formed in her eyes, “No more, Alex” she reached up and pulled the beard gently from his face so she could see him fully, “I do love you, you know.”

Alex’s heart almost burst at her declaration and he tugged her toward him wanting to be as close as the padding of his suit would allow, “I love you too.”

Her face split into a wide smile as her arms came up to wrap around his neck. He returned her grin while he lowered his lips to hers and gave her a kiss that was deep, gentle and wet. Alex had her blood boiling as her body temperature rose even while the cold December night surrounded them.

It was Alex who pulled away first causing Isabel to groan at the loss of contact, “I’m sorry, Isabel. I didn’t get you a Christmas gift.”

Isabel couldn’t help but smile again at the worry in his voice, “You are my Christmas gift, Alex Whitman.”

His smile returned to his face and he leaned back toward her barely placing his lips on hers, “And you are my Christmas miracle, Isabel Evans.”

Their lips found each other again and both seemed to melt into the kiss as they held onto each other neither wanting the moment to end. With the sensations Alex was stirring in her, Isabel knew that she had never felt complete before; but now, with him at her side, she knew she would never be incomplete again.

The End.

1/1

“Dinner will be ready soon, Isabel!’"Dianne Evans called to her daughter as she watched her head upstairs to her room. She knew exactly why the young woman was hurrying and she couldn’t help but smile.

“I’ll eat later mom!” Isabel returned as she ran up the stairs and into her room. She had a standing date that she did not want to be late for.

Shutting her door she quickly went over to her computer and booted it up as she sat down in her chair. While waiting , Isabel picked up the framed picture that sat on her desk and smiled at the sight of herself wrapped tightly in the arms of her boyfriend, Alex Whitman.

For the umpteenth time in the last month she cursed the fact that he was currently thousands of miles away in Sweden on an exchange program. The chance for him to go had come up unexpectedly a few days after Thanksgiving and Alex’s first introduction to her family.

Isabel remembered how he had come to her house all worried at how she would react to the news. She had been quite upset at the fact that he would be gone until the next year but even more so when she found out he was leaving in two days.

They had spent those few days together never leaving the others sight for very long. If they weren’t on one of their couches snuggling and watching TV then they were gazing at the stars at their special rock in Frasier Woods.

When he had finally left, Isabel had made sure to send him off with a kiss that knocked his socks off. His eyes had been glazed over and a goofy grin on his face as he boarded the plane.

With a chuckle at the memory of his expression she sat the picture down and turned back to the computer noticing the Christmas theme desk top that appeared on her monitor. December had really been a hard month for her without Alex but she had tried to fill it with as much holiday festivities as she could.

Isabel had not only organized the 23rd annual Roswell holiday pageant, but she had also devoted her time to the hunger drive, a dinner at the nursing home and even the Christmas dog show. In between all of that she had also helped Michael by buying a pair of pearl earrings for Maria as well as torment her family with making sure they had the perfect Christmas.

She knew Michael called her the Christmas Nazi behind her back but this was the time of year that she just wanted to be a normal human being with a normal life. Not some alien who did not even know how to get home.

Signing on to her computer she wasn’t at all surprised when she immediately got the invitation to chat with izzy#1guy. Every time she saw his log on name she couldn’t help but smile at the fact that they had come up with their sign on name one night while stargazing and discussing how they would stay in touch while he was gone.

Izzy#1guy : How was your day?

Isabel sighed and looked at the picture again at the two of them together. Ever since she told him about the Vilandra situation he had been even more supportive and worried about her.

Bassmans-grl: I’m no longer tormenting my family about x-mas. Now I am just missing you.

Izzy#1guy : I miss you too. What are you doing tonight for New Years Eve? Got big plans?

Bassmans-grl: Parents r going out to a party and Max going to Crashdown with Michael. I will probably stay in. You?

Izzy#1guy: I do have plans. I can’t stay on for long tonight since I have to go meet some one.

Isabel frowned at the thought that Alex was going to go out with someone else not only for New Years Eve but also on their 2 month anniversary.

Bassmans-grl : who?

Izzy#1guy : A friend

bassmans-grl : Does this friend have a name?

Izzy#1guy : Are you jealous? Believe me when I tell you that you have nothing to be jealous of. I LOVE YOU!!

Isabel couldn’t help but smile at the sight of those words on her screen. She never got tired of hearing or seeing those words coming from him.

Bassmans-grl : I love you 2. Any idea when you will be coming home?

Izzy#1guy : soon. I better go. It’s late here and I still need to change.

Her heart fell at that. She had hoped to spend a couple of hours with him chatting as they had done many times over the last month. She was very disappointed that he had made plans and would not be sharing the night together.

Bassmans-grl: ok. Talk to you tomorrow?

Izzy#1guy: Definitely. Happy New Years, Izzy.

Bassmans-grl: Happy New Years

Izzy#1guy: Signed off

Isabel felt the tears fill her eyes as she turned back to the picture of them together. This was the first year that she had a steady boyfriend that she wanted to celebrate the New Year with and he was on the other side of the world.

Taking a deep breath Isabel stood from her desk and moved to her wardrobe. She pulled out a pair of grey baggy jogging pants and a t-shirt.

“Well since I am staying in tonight then I plan to be as comfortable as possible.” Isabel said to herself as she changed and pulled her hair up into a messy pony tail. Before heading back downstairs to dinner with her parents she scrubbed all the make up from her face. No one outside of her family had seen her like this but she figured that no one would dare bother her tonight.

******

A few hours later Isabel waved her parents off who were heading to a New Years Eve party given by one of their friends. They had given her hugs and kisses before moving out the door with a “Have a wonderful night, Honey!”

“How can I have a wonderful night when the guy I love isn’t here?” she pouted after the door shut behind them. Every one around her seemed to have some one to celebrate with except for her.

She grabbed a container of her favorite ice cream from the freezer and a bottle of Tabasco and headed into the den where she flopped on to the couch. With the remote in one hand and a spoon in the other she channel surfed hoping to find something on TV to take her mind off the fact that she was alone on one of the most romantic nights of the year.

It didn’t take her long to polish off half the container of ice cream and for a moment the thought past through her mind that she would regret eating this much tomorrow, “To hell with it. I am not trying to impress any one tonight.”

DING DONG! The front doorbell rang causing Isabel to jump in surprise. She wasn’t expecting anyone and all of her parents friends would be at the same party.

Most girls in the instance when they are home alone and not expecting anyone normally would get scared, hide or call the cops. Isabel, on the other hand, was very confident that she could take care of herself so she went to the door and opened it.

Her eyes widened at the sight before her. Standing there in a black tux was none other than her boyfriend who should have been in Sweden and not on her porch carrying a bouquet of red roses.

“Oh my God, Alex!” she cried as she threw herself at him wrapping her arms around his neck and hugging him close.

Alex couldn’t help but chuckle at her expression when she had seen him. He had been planning this moment for days and was very happy to see that it had worked. He was just glad to be back home and in the arms of the girl he loved.

Isabel wanted to ask so many questions that were running through her mind but the tears that were caught in her throat and pooling in her eyes made it next to impossible. Finally she leaned back and looked into his eyes, “How?”

He gave her his famous smile and held her tighter, “ The exchange program was over. I had the chance to stay throughout the holidays but I missed you and my parents too much so I decided to catch an earlier flight. I arrived last night and have spent most of the day sleeping off the jet lag so I could spend the evening with you.”

She couldn’t believe how so happy she was at the sight of him. He looked even better than he had when he left a month ago. She wondered for a moment what was in the water over in Sweden because there was no doubt that Alex had come back a hunk.

Needing to reconnect with him she leaned forward and pressed her lips gently against his. Like always their kiss went from being soft and gentle to hard and passionate in seconds. They were not only trying to reconnect physically but also spiritually both having the same thoughts.

He better not leave me again/ I’ll never leave her again

Finally the need to take in oxygen caused them to pull apart slowly and look into the others eyes. There was plenty more they wanted to say and do but they knew that they had the whole night to reacquaint themselves after these many weeks apart.

“These are for you.” Alex smiled, his green eyes twinkling, as he held out the bouquet to her.

“They are beautiful, Alex” She felt the tears well up in her eyes again as she took them from him.

“Not as beautiful as you.”

At that moment Isabel realized what she looked like in her sweat pants and baggy t-shirt, “Oh no!”She moaned as she covered her face with her hands.

“What’s wrong, Iz?” he frowned worriedly at her as he noticed her distress.

“I can’t believe you saw me like this?” She muttered through her hands

Alex couldn’t help but smile as he reached up and gently removed her hands from her face and replaced it with his own. Leaning forward he barely pressed his lips to hers and whispered, “I have never seen you more lovely.”

Isabel’s heart just melted at his words as she recognized the honesty in them. Alex would always see the beauty within her and she would never have to worry about keeping up appearances with him. She pressed her lips more fully to his and for another few moments they became lost in each others arms.

This time Alex broke the kiss and gave her a smile, “Are you ready?”

Isabel couldn’t help but return his smile since she was in a daze after that kiss. Finally his words sunk in, “Ready for what?”

He chuckled as he brushed a finger across her cheek, “For our date of course. It is New Years Eve and our anniversary.”

She looked back down at her clothing, “I can’t go like this, Alex.”

“Why not?” he frowned

“Because you are in a tuxedo, Alex and I look like I am in competition for Miss Frumpy U.S.A.”

Alex couldn’t help but chuckle at her comment, “Believe me Isabel what you look like frumpy is what most girls wish they could be.”

Isabel smiled and gave him another kiss for his sweet comment, “No matter. I will be back in ten minutes changed and ready to go.”

He nodded and followed her into the house where she ran up the stairs and he headed into the den to wait for his girlfriend. He had a feeling that whatever she walked down wearing would totally knock him off his feet.

Alex was right when exactly 10 minutes later he heard Isabel enter the room and his heart almost stopped at the sight of her. He had never seen her in this dress before and the fact that it was red and off the shoulders made his mouth go dry and he wondered for a moment if drool was actually running down his chin.

“Now how do I look?” she questioned with a raised eyebrow and a twirl so that he could take in her whole outfit.

She couldn’t help but chuckle as he tried to find his voice as he continued to stare at her. She finally decided to help him out by pressing a kiss to his lips and whispering, “I’ll take that as a compliment.”

Alex felt the uncontrollable grin take over his face and gave a nod, “Definitely a compliment.”

After a few more moments just standing there and enjoying the closeness it was time for them to leave. He helped her on with her wrap taking note that he would need to make sure she stayed warm tonight.

Isabel took his hand in hers and would not let go until he settled her in the car and got in on the drivers side. Needing to keep touching him she rested her hand on his thigh and gave it a small squeeze. Alex gave out a groan and looked at her telling her with just his eyes what she was doing to him.

They had yet to go further than kissing in this stage of their relationship but Isabel wanted to be a lot closer to him. Not to say that she was ready to go all the way with him but she felt the need to touch and be touched with him in a more intimate manner.

Alex turned back to the road and drove them to a spot that was so familiar to them. Isabel wasn’t at all surprise to see that they were going to Frasier Woods and to their spot. She worried for a moment that she wasn’t exactly dressed for a night out underneath the stars but she knew she could just snuggle up with Alex who would keep her warm.

What did surprise her, when they got there, was the picnic spread out on the ground in front of the rock as well as soft romantic music coming from a cd player.

“I know it’s not a four star restaurant but since I didn’t know I was coming home until a few days ago I was too late to make reservations.” he turned to her and smiled, “And I didn’t want to take you to the noisy and crowded Crashdown where I couldn’t have you to myself.”

“It’s beautiful, Alex and perfect.” She leaned forward and pressed her lips on to his wanting to tell him, with out words, how special he made her feel.

Soon they were sitting on the blanket, Isabel a little more carefully in her dress, and enjoying the sparkling cider that he had brought as well as a piece of cinnamon chocolate cake that had all of her taste buds in heaven.

Alex rose from the blanket and held out a hand to her as a soft ballad came on the cd player, “May I have this dance?”

She smiled as she took his hand and allowed him to raise her from the ground. He took her in his arms and for a moment she flashed back to the dreamwalk she had experienced when she had visited him so many months ago.

You can say you love me
And I'll believe that's true
Trusting you is easy
'Cause I believe in you
There is nothing I would miss
As long as we're in love like this

There was no doubt that Isabel believed that Alex loved her. He showed her in so many way that she didn’t have to question his intentions.

All I have is all I need
And it all comes down to you and me
How far away this world becomes
In the harbor of each others arms

She knew that throughout her life no matter the ups or down all that she would need would be him and she would be able to find comfort and shelter within his arms.

I feel like I've known you forever and ever
Baby that's how close we are
Right here with you is where my life has come together
And where love has filled my heart
You know I'd go anywhere
As long as I have you to care

Alex spun her in his arms and smiled down at her enjoying the feel of her body against his. He said a silent prayer of thanks to who ever it was that brought this beautiful woman into his life and allowed him to love her.

All I have is all I need
And it all comes down to you and me
How far away this world becomes
In the harbor of each others arms

Isabel wrapped her arms around him and rested her head on his shoulder as she breathed in his unique scent. She would always be able to identify him in a dark room or with her eyes shut just by pressing her nose against his warm skin and inhaling.

Ooh-and with the love you bring
I never want for anything
I found what I've been searching for in you

Both Alex and Isabel were lost in the others arms knowing that this was were they belonged. He took her face in his hands and with rising passion settled his lips on hers.

All I have is all I need
And it all comes down to you and me
How far away this world becomes
In the harbor of each others arms

Once the song ended the sounds of fireworks going off in the distance caused Alex to look down at his watch. It was 12:00. He looked at Isabel and smiled thinking that they had begun the New Year together and hopefully that would mean they would be together for the next year.

“Happy New Year’s Isabel.”

“Happy New Year, Alex” she returned his smile and pulled him back to her for another one of his out of the world kisses.

Isabel had been blessed with finding Alex and letting him in the last year even though she had been so afraid. She had made many bad choices and had turned him away so many times that she wouldn’t have blamed him if he had finally walked away. Right then, as his arms tighten around her and his lips made love to hers, she made the resolution that the next year would hold more for them and she would never let him go again.

The End

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Bad Day (A/I FF Teen 1/1)

Post by KaraGail »

A/N: This story is also known as "Trude's Wish Granted". It was written when she was having a bad day and jokingly asked me to write a fic to make her forget about her day. This little fluff fic is what came out of that little challenge. Thanks Trude!

Part 1/1

“UGH!” Isabel slammed her car door shut, glad that the day was over and she was finally home.

The last few days at work had been utter and complete torture but today had truly taken the cake. Her boss had been nothing but a jerk toward her, making her feel that she was incompetent in her job.

There had been many times in the day where she had to control herself from using her powers and teaching him a lesson but she knew it was too risky. Besides she had a neater and easier way to torture him. She would just have to dream walk him and make him see the errors of his way.

Opening the front door of her two story townhouse she gave an audible sigh before calling out, “I’m home.”

When she did not receive the response she expected, Isabel frowned, “Alex?”

Her husband, of four years, was normally home before she was and so she began to worry when he didn’t answer her call. Dropping her purse and keys on the hall table; Isabel entered her living room hoping for some sign that he was home, “Alex?”

She took a moment to look around her with pride at their home. They had bought it a years ago and she had combed the town of Roswell looking for the perfect pieces to decorate their home and make it their own. Alex had been amused by her “Nazi” tendency as she tried to get the house the exact way she wanted it, but he had been very supportive and had gone on many of the shopping sprees with her.

Once again she wondered where her husband was as she headed over to the stairs thinking that he may be up in their bedroom. She went to call for him again, but then stopped when she spotted a note at the foot of the stairs. Her name was scrawled across the front in her husband’s familiar handwriting and she flipped it open to read:

Come up to the bedroom

Isabel raised an eyebrow and smiled while making her way up the stairs,“What was Alex up to?’

Half way up she heard the soft strains of classical music coming from her room. She quickly got up the rest of the stairs and entered the room, excited to see what her husband was up to. She gave a frown when he was no where to be found in the large master bedroom. Instead another note laid upon their king sized bed:

Come into the bathroom[/b]

Isabel dropped the note back onto the bed and moved toward the adjoining bathroom. Opening the door she smiled at the sight of her garden tub filled to the rim with her favorite scented bubble bath while various size candles were on every surface, dimming the room to a soft glow.

Another note was propped up against a steaming cup of hot chocolate with a single rose laying in front:

Relax and enjoy

She didn’t think twice before undressing and slipping into the water with a groan at how wonderful the bath felt. Leaning back, Isabel shut her eyes for a moment and let the stress of the day just melt away.

Isabel wondered, once again, where her husband was. The only other thing that would make this moment perfect was if Alex was sharing the bath with her. The huge sunken tub was a perfect size to fit both of their tall frames at one time and many times, since buying the house, they had used it to it’s full potential.

She sipped on her hot chocolate, not at all surprised at the hint of Tabasco sauce that added the spicy flavor, that she craved, to the sweet chocolate of the drink. Isabel loved how her husband seemed to always know what she needed and even took into consideration all of her alien quirks.

Even after 10 years, she was still amazed how Alex seemed not at all concerned that he was in love with an alien. He took everything that came at them in an easy stride that made her love him more every day.

Finally a half hour later, Isabel stepped out of the tub and slipped on her favorite red silk robe that hung on the back of the bathroom door. She felt so much better and couldn’t wait to see Alex and thank him for his thoughtfulness.

Opening the door, the first thing she noticed was that the lights were now out and, as with the bathroom, dimly lit by soft candle light. The music was still being filtered to the room and she couldn’t help but think how romantic her husband was. Especially when she spotted the vase of long stemmed red roses that sat on her night stand and emitted a lovely scent around the room.

“How was work today?” a familiar masculine voice said from the door way of the room causing her to spin and give him a smile. Her husband looked so handsome standing there in jeans and the untucked blue striped shirt that she had gotten him for his birthday. The long sleeves were rolled up to the middle of his forearms and, along with his black rimmed glasses that framed his beautiful green eyes, she thought he had never looked sexier to her.

Isabel couldn’t speak all she could do was hurry over to him, wrap her arms around his neck and press her lips to his in a passionate kiss. He pulled her closer to him and returned the love that she was so unabashedly giving him at that moment.

Needing air, Isabel broke the kiss to bury her face in the hollow of his neck and hugged him tightly to her. She never wanted him to let her go for there was no where else that she felt safe and protected than here within the circle of his loving arms.

“I guess work wasn’t much better today.” he murmured against her ear as his hands ran up and down her back in a gentle caress.

Isabel let out a small groan, “How did you know?”

Alex pressed a kiss to her temple, “I could hear it in your voice when we spoke at lunch.”

She let out an audible sigh, “I just don’t know how much more I can take if there are any more days like today. I seriously wanted to do damage to my boss and not in a human way.”

“Is there anything I can do?”he questioned with a smile and once again Isabel thought of how lucky she was to have a husband who would do anything to make sure she was happy.

She pressed a kiss to his collarbone before glancing up at him with a seductive smile that always seem to make him a puddle at her feet, “Let’s not talk about work right now, Alex.” she slid her hands around the front of him and across his chest before starting to unfasten the buttons of his shirt, “I just want to make love with my husband until today is just a faint memory.”

Alex’s face split into a wide grin, “I think I can do that.” he reached down and lifted her into his arms in one swift movement causing her to squeal in delight as he carried her over to their bed.

Isabel had a strong feeling that after tonight, anytime any body at work gave her a hard time, she would just think about how the world had disappeared in her husband’s loving arms, and she wouldn’t be able to do anything except smile.

The End

1/1

Isabel Evans let out a heavy sigh as she brushed a stray blonde hair from her face, knowing that no one would hear her or even care. She was currently sitting in the back booth of the Crashdown Café alone while every one around her seemed to be paired up and in a world of their own as they celebrated the most romantic day of the year.

She gave a gentle shake of her head at the thought of the holida. Isabel had not dated anyone since Grant Sorenson and she definitely was not interested in the hordes of high school boys who just wanted the chance to get into her pants. So now she found herself alone on Valentine’s day without even a date to the Sweethearts Dance at the school that evening.

Isabel was so busy feeling sorry for herself over her loneliness that she was taken by surprise when Michael Guerin slid into the other side of the booth with a scowl on his face.

“Can you believe Maria?” He demanded as he looked over his broad shoulder at his girlfriend, who was waiting on a table a few feet away from them wearing her aqua green waitress uniform and the alien antennae on top of her blonde head.

Looking at him Isabel gave a mental groan as she realized that she was about to be pulled into one of the famous Deluca/Guerin arguments, “What?”

“She can’t stop talking about Alex.” He ran a frustrated hand through his long shaggy hair as he turned back to her, “He’s making me look bad on today of all days.”

Isabel kept her face neutral at the mention of her ex-boyfriend’s name, even as her heart skipped a small beat. Alex and she had stopped dating over 6 months prior but she still found that she missed him and the unconditional caring that the tall boy had shown her in such a short amount of time.

Of course it had been her own decision to end their short lived relationship by telling Alex that she “couldn’t see anyone right now.” Looking back, Isabel knew that nothing would ever let her forget the pain that reflected in Alex’s eyes when only a few moments after their break up she began to flirt with the older Geologist. Grant, though, had been just a simple diversion from the reality of her life and she knew even while they had dated that it would never lead to anything more.

“What about Alex?” Isabel asked casually returning back to the conversation and trying to block out the memory that had haunted her all of these months.

Michael raised an eyebrow at his pseudo sister, “You didn’t hear about how he decorated Liz and Maria’s lockers in school today?”

Isabel gave a slight frown and felt an all too familiar feeling settle in the pit of her stomach but shook it off quickly, “Alex did that?”

“Seems he thought Max and I would ruin the day somehow for the girls and decided to decorate their lockers with all this pink and red girly stuff that they love.” he rolled his eyes at the thought, “Doesn’t he know he's not suppose to do stuff like that for another guy’s girl?”

“Michael, they are best friends and you know how close they are.” she shrugged trying to calm him, “It was probably just his Valentine’s gift to them.”

Michael leaned forward across the table not wanting Maria to hear since he knew it would only lead to another argument between them, “I still don’t think it’s an appropriate gift between friends.”

Isabel raised an eyebrow at him in question,” And what makes you think that receiving a key chain is an acceptable Valentine’s Day present?”

Michael blushed slightly and dipped his head not wanting to meet her knowing eyes, “You heard about that?”

“How could I not? Maria was yelling at you when I walked in.” she gave him a sympathetic smile and a shake over her head.

He gave a groan as if in agony, “Now I have to find some way to salvage this day or Maria will never let me live it down.”

Isabel couldn’t help but laugh out loud at Michael’s conundrum. He always seemed to know just what buttons to push to rile up his feisty girlfriend.

Michael frowned at her, “Are you just going to sit there and laugh or are you going to help me?”

“I get a choice?” she chuckled and her dark brown eyes twinkled with humor.

“Come on, Iz.” he begged in an almost whisper.

“Okay..Okay.” she got herself under control thinking that maybe this was just what she needed, a project to get her mind off the fact that she was alone on Valentine’s.

20 minutes later Isabel made her way to the register and where Maria stood behind the counter. It had taken her a little longer than she thought to convince Michael to go through with their plan and now she gave a silent prayer that he wouldn’t ruin the evening for them both.

“Hey Maria.” she smiled at the petite blonde waitress “Happy Valentine’s Day.”

“Hey Isabel” Maria grinned up at the female alien obviously glad to see her.”I’m sorry I didn’t get to come by your table and tell you ‘hello’ but it’s been a mad house in here tonight. It seems everyone wanted to bring their date here before heading to the dance.”

Isabel couldn’t help but grin at her comment since it had something to do with what she was there for, “That reminds me...” she pulled out an envelope, “This is for you.”

Maria frowned, “You didn’t have to get me a card, Isabel. Now I feel bad that I didn’t get you one.”

“I didn’t” She said simply and handed her the card that was in the shape of a heart. It was in Michael’s scratchy handwriting, but it was Isabel’s words that would help him get the girl he wanted.

It only took Maria a few moments to open the card and read the brief note. Isabel wasn’t at all surprised to see the myriad of emotions; curiosity, disbelief and excitement, that crossed the smaller girls face.

Maria glanced back up at Isabel with a huge smile on her face while her eyes lit up in happiness, “Michael was able to get Mr. Parker to let me off work early tonight so that he can take me to the school dance.”

Isabel returned her smile and gave an inaudible sigh of relief, “That sounds terrific, Maria.. I’m sure you will have a nice time.”

Maria’s smile slowly disappeared, “Why don’t you come to the dance with us, Iz? We will have a good time.”

She gave a quick shake of her head, “No...three is a crowd.”

“No, it will be fun, Isabel. Liz and Max are going and Alex will be there with his date, so most of the gang will be there.”

Isabel found herself frowning at Maria’s words and wondering if she had heard her correctly, “Alex is taking someone to the dance?”

Maria’s smile returned as she thought of her male friend and how shocked he had been when he was asked out by a girl in his science class earlier that week, “Yes. He is taking Kim Manning.”

That uneasy feeling in the pit of her stomach chose that moment to return and Isabel found herself trying to figure out which girl in their school was Kim Manning. ‘Why am I jealous? I have no claim on Alex and therefore I do not have any right to feel this way.’

“That also reminds me...”Maria started as she reached under the counter, “Alex wanted me to give this to you if I saw you. He wanted to give it to you himself but he kept missing you today.”

Isabel was surprised to see the small white bear, in the waitress’ hand, that was clutching a huge red heart in its paws. “BE MINE” was stitched across and she found herself getting a little choked up at the sight.

“He also got you a card” Maria mentioned as she slid over the small envelope.

Isabel quickly tore into the envelope, while her heart raced in excitement of what the meaning of the gift was and if the card would explain his intentions. On the cover was another bear with dozens of small hearts surrounding him as he smiled up at her as the caption read “HOPE YOU HAVE A BEARY HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!’

Flipping it over she saw where Alex’s name was scrawled on the back and right above it the words “Love always” stood out causing her heart to skip another beat at the sight of his proclamation. It was a simple statement but it was one that had her world tilting on it’s axis.

Never in the years that she had known him, or even the months where he had finally gotten to know the real Isabel, had Alex ever said those words to her. She had an idea that he had felt something for her but never thought that he could possibly love her.

As the silence grew, Maria began to look at Isabel with curiosity in her eyes as she took in her reaction to the small token. ‘Maybe Isabel still did have feeling for her male friend.’

“Are you sure you don’t want to come with us tonight?”

Isabel looked up from where she was still reading Alex’s signature. She certainly didn’t think she could handle watching all the happy couples together or see HIM dancing with another girl when the image of her dancing in his arms was still fresh in her mind. “No I am fine. I plan to just go home and watch some movies.”

“Okay but if you change your mind you know where we will be.”

“Thanks” Isabel smiled before waving good bye to her friend and left the Crashdown, still clutching the bear and card tightly in her hands.

Instead of going home, as she had planned, Isabel found herself driving around town while her mind continued to swarm with images of Alex. ‘Have I truly lost him?’

It had been obvious to everyone that when he returned from the Exchange Program in Sweden he had changed. Alex was more confident than she had ever known him to be and on top of that he no longer followed her around asking for more than she could give to him. In fact, he had come back speaking of a girl he had met and dated while in Sweden. That feeling in the pit of her stomach had burned for weeks, until she had learned, from Liz, that they had broken up.

Though she had been glad that he had grown the confidence, Isabel had never thought that he would get over her so easily. She had always clung to the thought that there would always be someone that truly knew her, inside and out, and still cared for her anyway. Alex had been that guy and she had pushed him away for that very reason.

When Maria had told her that he was taking another girl to the dance tonight, Isabel had felt that certainty disappear and she knew that she couldn’t blame it on Alex. It had been her decision to no longer be with him and now he was taking another girl to the Sweethearts dance. The same dance that he had asked her to a year before and she had turned him down with just a shake of her head.

Isabel felt a tear slip down her cheek and she quickly wiped it away trying not to cry for the love she once had. If only she had put her trust in Alex, then maybe instead of being alone tonight she would be dancing in the arms of someone she loved.

She paused for a moment at that thought ‘Love? Do I love Alex?’ It only took her a moment to conclude that yes she did love Alex Whitman and always had.

Seeing a brightly lit grocery store on the right Isabel quickly turned into the parking lot. She would be damned if she let another girl have the man of her dreams.

*******

Alex Whitman stood on the side lines of the dance floor, wearing one of the nice suits that his mother had bought him for special occasions, and wondering when it would be the appropriate time to collect his date and take her home.

‘Why did I agree to go to the dance with Kim?’ He mentally groaned at the thought.

He should have known that he would be spending the evening miserable while he found himself constantly thinking about Isabel Evans, the girl he would have rather taken to the dance. Although he had been tempted to ask her a few weeks prior, he kept in mind the many long conversations he had with Leanna while in Sweden regarding his ex.

She had convinced him that he needed to get over the cool blonde, especially since Isabel had not shown any signs of wanting him in return. It had taken months, but he was now beginning to think that maybe Leanna was right. He would never be with Isabel ever again and he just needed to move on with his life and live in hope that one day he would find someone who wouldn’t mind that he would always love another.

At least the evening had not been a total bust. Alex had been there to witness Maria Deluca walk up to the DJ and confront him when it was apparent that he had been playing the same old tired songs over and over.

You could see the fear in the man’s eyes when she said, “If you’re even thinking of playing that song again I’ll do more than hurt you.”

Alex chuckled at the memory as he looked over to where Maria and Michael were standing on the dance floor just holding each other. When he had asked earlier about why they weren’t moving he had been informed that Michael did not know how to dance and that this was the only way Maria could get him out on the dance floor.

Looking around the crowded room Alex then spotted Max and Liz actually dancing. He wasn’t at all surprised that they moved in perfect sync as if they had been dance partners all of their lives. They were soul mates and it seemed to show in everything that they did together.

Finally he saw his date in the arms of Ethan Harmon, one of their classmates. Alex knew that not only was he miserable on this date but that he was also making Kim just as miserable. He really couldn’t blame her for finding someone else, but he wondered if it would be proper for him to leave her here or should he be the one to take her home.

Alex glanced down at his watch and was surprised that it was already after 11:30. The dance had been scheduled to run until Midnight since Valentine’s fell on a Friday this year and the school had obtained permission to extend the time. Most felt that the longer the students stayed at the dance the less trouble they would get into around town.

Deciding he was ready to go home and end this farce, Alex finally made his move and walked over to Kim and Ethan giving her a tap on the shoulder. He automatically saw the disappointment in her eyes when they met his.

“Hi Alex.” she gave him a small smile and he could spot the unease in her own eyes..

“Hey, I was just wondering if you would like me to take you home now.” he gave her a smile hoping that she would be just as ready as he was to get out of here.

“Ummm...well..I kind of would like to stay for a few more dances.” she gave a side ways look at Ethan who still stood beside her.

Taking the hint Alex nodded his head, “Hey Ethan do you think you can take Kim home? I am really exhausted and ready to get out of here, but I want to make sure she gets home safely.”

The other boy had been some what worried of what Alex would say since it was obvious that he had been making time with the girl he brought. Ethan, though, seemed to recognized in Alex’s voice and mannerism that he was okay with it, “Sure no problem Alex.”

Kim was now beaming when she turned back to her date, “Thanks Alex. I’m sorry our date didn’t work out. You really are a nice guy.”

He nodded and gave her another smile, “See you guys in school on Monday.”

After telling his friends good bye, Alex headed for the gymnasium door and exited into the cold February night. He was calling himself every name in the book for ruining the date since this had been his chance to finally getting over Isabel Evans, but instead all he had thought about was her.

In fact, he was seeing her every where he looked, even now she was leaning against his car in the school parking lot. Thinking that the vision would soon disappear the closer he got, Alex continued to stare at the beautiful blonde unaware that she was starring just as intensely back at him.

When she had not vanish he couldn’t help but frown when he realized that she was truly there, “Isabel?”

“Hi Alex” she gave him a tentative smile while straightening from her position against the car, her eyes darted around him looking for signs of his date, “Where’s Kim?”

He let out a deep sigh as he turned around and leaned against the hood of the car beside her, “She’s still inside.”

Isabel frowned as she glanced beside her at the tall boy who was now gazing up at the stars in the dark sky. Knowing that Alex would tell her what happened on his date in his own good time, she followed his eyes and looked up into the night sky allowing the comfortable silence to wash over them.

Alex finally broke the quiet, “Silently, one by one, in the infinite meadows of heaven, Blossomed the lovely stars, the forget-me-nots of the angels.”

She turned to him again with wonder in her eyes, “That was beautiful.”

He glanced at her with a smile, “Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. I had to memorize the poem for a literature class not so long ago. I’m surprised that I remembered it.”

“I got your Valentine’s gift and card, Alex.” Isabel turned her body toward him knowing if she didn’t tell him soon what she had come here to say she would chicken out. “I got you one as well.” she pulled out the card and watched Alex’s long fingers reach across the space between them and take it from hers.

His smile turned into a grin, while pulling out the card from the envelope, needing to reassure her as he felt the waves of unease emit from her body. ‘Why was she so nervous?’

A cartoon bee that was no doubt female with her long eyelashesand come hither look, smiled up from the card, while carrying a bouquet of flowers with a caption that read BEE MINE!

Alex chuckled and looked up at Isabel who was watching him with her top front teeth sunk into her bottom lip worrying it. He flipped the card over and looked down to read what she had written and all of a sudden he understood exactly why she was so nervous:

Alex,

I remember last year when you held me in your arms when Max was taken from us. You stayed with me as I cried with worry but most of all I will never forget what you said to me as we sat there together. You pressed your lips to my cheeks and whispered for my ears only, ‘a kiss for each tear that you’ve shed.’ With those words I handed over my heart to you and I have not seen it since. I love you Alex and I know I don’t have the right to ask this of you but I am going to any way...Will you give me another chance?

Eternally yours,

Isabel

His heart began to race as he read her words, realizing it had been all he had ever longed to hear for so many months from this girl. ‘Did she truly love him?’ Looking up into her eyes he saw the love shining there and knew that it had to be true. He knew then that if she asked for it he would gladly give her third, fourth and fifth chances. Alex would always come back to Isabel if she just asked him too.

They stood there for a moment just starring into the others eyes never wanting the moment to end. Finally Isabel broke eye contact when she held up a finger to him, grinned and then ran around the back of his car only to reappear a few seconds later on the other side of him. In her hands she was caring a small bouquet of wild flowers.

“Happy Valentine’s Day.” she said as she handed them to him. Isabel had been lucky that the grocery florist still had flowers left so she had quickly picked them up while she was purchasing the card for Alex.

He chuckled as he took the flowers from her and took in the beautiful scent that emitted from the blossoms. “Thanks.”

Isabel fidgeted while she stood there wondering what to do now. She knew what she wanted to do but she wasn’t sure if it was too early or if Alex needed to get used to the idea of them again before making a move.

Seeing her distress and having an idea why, Alex set the flowers on the hood of his car and stepped toward her. He cupped her cheeks in the palm of his hands and lifted her face to his before covering her lips with his own. After her written confession there was no way he was going to let another moment slip away and not have her in his arms.

Alex’s mouth was gentle at first but then more insistent as she opened hers beneath his letting him seek entrance, his tongue invading hers. Isabel felt her body melt into his as she wrapped her arms around his neck while he slipped his around her waist pulling her tightly to him. Because this kiss contained the certainty of their love and unspoken promises they both knew that this one had surpassed them all.

Finally they pulled back and looked into each others eyes with smiles plastered on their faces. He leaned his forehead against hers and whispered, “I love you, Isabel.”

The joy that she had felt just a few moments ago took a back seat to the happiness she now felt at the sound of those words falling from his lips, “and I love you.”

Alex grinned, “I wish I could start this night over and take you to the dance.”

“What did happen with you and Kim?” Isabel questioned as she ran her fingers through the short hairs on the back of his neck.

“I don’t think I was a very good date.” he gave a wry smile, “ Seems I was too busy thinking of a certain tall blonde and not enough on her; so she is being escorted home by Ethan Harmon.”

Isabel chuckled and pressed a gentle kiss to his lips, “Well her loss is my gain.”

He nodded and then his eyes lit up, “Would you care to dance?”

She frowned, “But the dance is almost over Alex. I’m sure they are packing things up inside now”

“Why would we go inside when we could dance under the stars?”Alex smiled as he looked up into the star filled sky, “what could be more romantic?”

“Hmmmm...How about music?” She questioned but soon gave up her argument when Alex took her back into his arms and began to hum a lovely tune.

It took Isabel only a moment to realize when he quit humming and began to sing the words of an old song that she had heard in a black and white movie so many years ago..

Some day, when I’m awfully low,
when the world is cold,
I will feel a glow just thinking of you...
And the way you look tonight.

Even though she knew it was impossible, Isabel could swear that she heard the music as Alex spun her around the parking lot and they swayed to the tune that was in their hearts.

Oh but you’re lovely
with your smile so warm
and your cheeks so soft
There is nothing for me
But to love you...
Just the way you look tonight.

Alex couldn’t believe that he actually remembered the words to the song. It was one of his grandparents favorite love songs and for some reason it had just come to him as he stood there looking into her eyes and knowing that he would never forget this night with her.

With each word
Your tenderness grows
Tearing my fear apart
And that laugh
that wrinkles your nose
touches my foolish heart.

She settled her head on his shoulder and shut her eyes once again trying to capture this moment in his arms in her memory. While he effortlessly moved her around their make shift dance floor, Isabel knew she would never regret her decision to open up to Alex and finally let him in.

Lovely, never ever change
Keep that breathless charm
Won’t you please arrange it
Cause I love you
Just the way you look tonight

Alex continued to hum against her ear as they continued their midnight dance underneath the stars neither one aware that they had built up quite an audience. The sounds of whistles and clapping had them lifting their heads in surprise to find themselves surrounded. Both teenagers began to blush at the display they must have put on for the crowd of students, but neither one stepped away from the other.

“Way to go Alex!” a student yelled and laughter filled the crowd.

“It’s about time!” said a familiar female voice and both Alex and Isabel turned their heads to see Maria standing there with a huge grin on her face. Along with her was Michael, Max and Liz and they all had matching smiles on their faces at the sight of their friends back together again.

Isabel turned her head back to Alex and blocked out the starring eyes of the crowd. She conjured up the memory of another dance in a dream from a long time ago. She couldn’t resist asking him, “So what do you really think of me?”

Alex turned and looked at the girl of his dreams and smiled knowing that he would never forget this night for as long as he lived, “What do I think of you?” he paused as he pressed another kiss gently to her lips and gave her another one of his heart stopping smiles, “I think you have just made me the happiest man in the world.”

The End

Thanks for reading and have a great Valentine's Day!

Category: Alex and Isabel

Rating: Mature

Something in Red

I'm looking for something in red
Something that's shocking to turn someone's head
Strapless and sequined and cut down to there
Stockings and garters and lace underwear
The guaranteed number to knock the men dead
I'm looking for something in red

I'm looking for something in green
something to out do an ex-high school queen
Jealousy comes in the color of jade
Do you have some pumps and a purse in this shade
And a perfume that whispers "Please come back to me"
I'm looking for something in green

I'm looking for something in white
Something that shimmers in soft candlelight
Everyone calls us the most perfect pair
Should I wear a veil or a rose in my hair
Well, the train must be long and the waist must be tight
I'm looking for something in white

I'm looking for something in blue
Something real tiny, the baby's brand new
He has his father's nose and his chin
We once were hot lovers-Now we're more like friends
Don't tell me that's just what old married folk do
I'm looking for something in blue

I'm looking for something in red
Like the one that wore when I first turned his head
Strapless and sequined and cut down to there
Just a size larger than I wore last year
The guaranteed number to knock the man dead

I'm looking for something
I've gotta have something
I'm looking for something in red

Part 1 - Red

Isabel Evans knew she looked good in the color red.

In fact, it was the color she always wore when she wanted something and needed that little extra “oomph” to get it. Right now the object of her affection was standing across the room and totally ignorant of the plans she had in mind for him.

The dress she had originally picked out for the event had been tame compared to the strapless form fitting one she was currently wearing. When she had found out he was also going to be there, Isabel had immediately gone shopping for the “killer” red dress.

Isabel had seen him almost immediately when she walked into the room. To her, he always stood out in a crowd, especially when he was wearing a black tux that was tailored to fit his tall lean body. It reminded her of the first time she had seen him at her older brother’s wedding two years prior.

He was one of Liz’s best friends and he had everyone laughing at his stories of growing up with the bride to be. Isabel had been enthralled as she watched him work the crowd and wondered why they had never been introduced before. It hadn’t taken her long to hunt down Liz and get his name.

Alex Whitman

Unfortunately, at the time, they had been both in relationships and she was unable to act on her sudden desire for the stranger. She had never felt such an instant attraction to someone before and with that realization Isabel knew that whatever she had with Grant was obviously in it’s final stages. She knew she couldn’t desire one guy so much, to the point of fantasizing about him, and be with another just bidding her time until he was free. It hadn’t been long before she broke up with Grant.

During the next few months, Alex and she had become real good friends. She learned so much more about him and it hadn’t been hard to fall for him. He was everything she could possibly want. He was sweet, funny, considerate, loyal to his friends, smart, and handsome. But he was also taken.

A few months ago, Isabel found out that Alex and Leanne had finally broken up. She had thought that this was her time and had spent days coming up with just the right words to ask him out, but once again fate was against her.

Alex had been sent over seas to Europe, by his company, where he would be working on a new project. He had told Isabel what a great opportunity it was for him and she had been happy for him. At least on the outside she had been happy. On the inside she was disappointed that another chance was lost.

Maybe they just weren’t meant to be together.

Isabel had begun to date again trying to get over Alex and move on but every guy she met had to be measured up with him and all came out lacking. She had also tried to drown herself in work hoping that the less she thought about him the easier it would finally be.

Neither worked.

So here she was, now, feeling like a huntress stalking her prey. Alex was back in town and she had decided that she was not going to let anything else get in her way. Isabel wanted him and tonight was the night that, if everything went as planned, he would finally be hers.

Isabel slipped through the crowd and made her way to him as he stood making small talk with another gentleman. She could tell the moment when he became aware of her as he glanced up, caught her eye and gave her the smile that always made her feel weak in the knees.

“Hi” she returned his smile as she came to a stop in front of him.

“Hi” Alex continued to smile as his eyes traveled the length of her body, “You look beautiful.”

“Thank you” she said as a little thrill went down her spine at his compliment.

“I’ve always loved you in red.” he stated with a husky voice.

Isabel could feel the heat in her cheeks as she accepted the compliment. She decided to go for broke and return it, “I’ve always loved you in a tux.”

Alex grinned wider, “I’ll have to keep that in mind.”

“So how was Europe?” she asked just as a waiter carrying champagne stopped to serve them.

“The project was a huge success and when I arrived back they promoted me to Vice President.” he said with pride at his accomplishment.

“That’s great, Alex!” she said as her eyes widened with excitement over his news.

Isabel wasn’t sure later who initiated it first but some how she found herself in his arms, hugging him tightly. She decided to make the most of the moment and inhaled his masculine scent through her nose as she buried her face between his neck and shoulder.

She didn’t know how long they stood like that but it didn’t seem that either one wanted the moment to end. Finally she pulled back and looked in his eyes not at all surprised to see the desire reflected in them.

Isabel had always known that Alex felt something for her. From the moment they had been introduced at the wedding he had gotten tongue tied for a few seconds until his girlfriend, Leanne, had come up to them and asked him what was wrong.

She smiled as she remember how embarrassed Alex had been as his face had turned a brilliant shade of red that endeared him even more to her. He had muttered a vague reply to the girl but then turned his attention back to Isabel and began to ask her questions about Max and her family.

They had fallen into an easy camaraderie that lasted most of the evening, only to be halted by Leanne dragging him onto the dance floor and away from her. Isabel had found out later that the other girl had felt jealous and intimidated by her.

Isabel cleared her throat, “Well whatever happened over in Europe..it certainly agrees with you, Alex.” she reached over and brushed a non existent piece of lint from his shoulder using it as an excuse to touch him again, “You look great.”

“Thanks” he lifted his glass of champagne and took a long drink before setting it aside and holding out a hand to her, “Would you care to dance, Miss Evans?”

Her heart raced at his suggestion. She had planned to ask him soon if he hadn’t first since she’d been looking forward to this moment ever since the wedding when jealousy had struck her over Alex dancing with Leanne.

“I would love to, Mr. Whitman.” Isabel reached out and took his hand as he escorted her to the dance floor.

Just when they stepped onto the dance floor the band began to play a new song and Isabel found herself once again breathing in his scent as she snuggled closer to him while Alex guided her through the dance moves. His body was so fluid and graceful that he made her look the same even though all of her attention was focused on the man who made her inside jump and flutter with just a look in her direction.

Suddenly she felt him pause and pull back his head to look at her. His eyes had a questioning look about them as he searched her own for something. Finally, after an immense silence between them, he removed his arm from where it was wrapped around her waist and lifted his hand so that he could brush his finger lightly across her cheek.

“Europe was great but it was missing one thing.” he whispered as his thumb caressed her bottom lip.

Isabel had to control herself from opening her mouth and grasping the digit between her lips. Her heart was already going a mile a minute and she had a feeling that by the end of the night it would burst from her chest.

“What did you miss?” she finally asked on a gasp as his fingers traced across her earlobe causing her to close her eyes at the sensation.

She felt Alex move closer and she opened her eyes to find him only inches from her. If she only moved her head just a millimeter more, she would be kissing him and finally living out one of her fantasies of him.

“I missed you, Isabel.” he whispered and this time she felt his breath against her lips, “I couldn’t stop thinking of you the whole time I was away.”

Isabel slipped her hand up his arm until she cupped the back of his neck, “I missed you, too, Alex”

She heard him let out a small groan right before his lips crash down on hers and she was no longer aware of anything around her except for the man in her arms. He deepened the kiss by slipping his tongue between her lips and she responded instantly. Their tongues met and caressed as the desire increased between them causing Isabel to let out a moan of pleasure.

The kiss was everything Isabel had dreamed of. Soft, passionate, wet and full of heat that already she felt like she would melt into a pool of water at his feet. She wondered how she had gone so long with out this and made a pact with herself that she would never be without it again.

Alex finally pulled back and looked into her eyes again and a small smile appeared on his kiss swollen lips, “God, I have been wanting to do that for 2 years now.”

Isabel returned his smile while reaching up to brush a lock of hair off his forehead, “What took you so long?”

He shook his head and let out a chuckle, “Probably my own stupidity and insecurities.”

She sighed happily as she wound her arms around his neck and pulled him closer, “Well let’s not make the same mistake again. You have a lot of time to make up for, Alex. How about us getting started?”

Alex placed his forehead to hers, “I have a feeling I will be trying to make up for this for a long time.”

Isabel leaned forward and pressed her lips to his before gently agreeing, “A very, very long time.”

Their lips reconnected and words were no longer needed. Isabel had her man and she knew that the “killer” red dress had indeed been what she needed.

Part 2 - Green 7/18/06

A/N thanks to all the positive feedback on this fic. This one is a short one so the parts will most likely be posted as soon as I get it written. I hope you enjoy this part...

I'm looking for something in green
something to out do an ex-high school queen
Jealousy comes in the color of jade
Do you have some pumps and a purse in this shade
And a perfume that whispers "Please come back to me"
I'm looking for something in green

Part 2- Green

Something was going on.

Isabel had, once again, received a call from Alex claiming that he had to stay at work late and was breaking their date. They had argued on the phone for a few minutes with him pleading for her to understand, but she was getting tired of his excuses. She had hung up the phone almost in tears and wondering why he was avoiding her?

This had been going on for the last month. They’d make plans to be together, then Alex would have to back out. She was spending more time alone than with the man she loved and she had no idea why.

Isabel groaned in frustration as she paced her small living room still dressed in the outfit that she had planned on seducing him with. They had planned to go to a concert in the park with a picnic and just enjoy the still warm fall evening.

The leather black pants had been the first thing she’d pulled from the closet. She knew how the hugged her curves and drew the attention of even the blindest of men. Alex loved the leathers on her and had practically ripped them off of her almost every time she had worn them.

Isabel had hoped to give him an incentive to do the same tonight.

It had been over a week since they had made love. In fact, it was 8 days, 6 hours and 23 minutes since they had last been intimate which was peculiar since almost from the beginning of their physical relationship, almost a year ago, they had rarely gone longer than 48 hours.

Alex had practically moved into her apartment and she had done the same in his. Their lives had blended so easily together that Isabel had been blind sided when he seemed to lose interest in her wanting to devote his time to work and not on her.

Isabel stopped pacing and made her way over to the fireplace and reached up to remove the picture that sat prominently on the mantle. She couldn’t help but let out a small smile at the image of the happy sun bronzed couple wrapped in each other’s arms and seeming not to have a care in the world.

The photo had been taken during a vacation a few months earlier where Alex had surprised her with a trip to Puerto Rico. They had spent a fun filled week exploring the town of Old San Juan, soaked up the sun on some of the most beautiful beaches, gambled at the casinos and danced all night in the salsa clubs.

She still got a thrill of excitement of the memory of Alex and she on a deserted beach with the sun dipping below the horizon. They had quickly stripped themselves of their scant bathing suits and had reached for the stars as theirs bodies took on the dance that had become so familiar to them both.

The picture had been taken on the second to last day while on the very beach that they had made love on. Isabel had stopped a passing Piraguas vendor, who was pushing his cart across the sand of the beach. She had explained to him in broken Spanish what she wanted and with a nod of his head had consented to take the picture.

Isabel wondered what had changed from that day. They had been so in love and though her feelings had remained just as strong for him, she couldn’t be so sure of Alex’s.

With a groan of frustration, Isabel placed the picture back and headed for the coat closet with determination. She was going to go hunt down Alex and have it out with him right then. There was no way she could go another day without knowing if she had truly lost him and why.

Twenty minutes later, Isabel stepped out of the elevator on to the floor where Alex’s office was. She had rushed over, running a few red lights in the process, but now she slowed down.

Did she really want to know why he was avoiding her?

Isabel was scared to find out that Alex was not where he said he would be. What if he wasn’t working at his desk but out with another woman and using work as an excuse to see her?

“Get over it, girl.” she whispered to herself and forced her way down the rows of dark empty offices. No one was here which was normal since it was after 8:00 at night and most people were at home with their families.

The light was on in Alex’s office and Isabel almost let out a sigh of relief until she heard a familiar laugh come from the room followed by “Yes! Yes! Yes!”

Isabel’s heart almost stopped as she heard the sound of Alex’s excitement. It was made in the same pitch of voice that he got when she was making his world explode around him.

“Oh my God!” she stood there frozen at the closed door while her eyes widened in shock over her worst fears being realized.

Alex was with another woman and she was bringing him pleasure. Isabel’s heart raced and anger coursed through her body of the images that flashed before her eyes.

Before she knew it, Isabel had thrown open the door and, expecting to see them going at it, cried out in a loud voice “You son of a...”

She stopped in mid curse as she found Alex sitting at his desk looking up at her with confusion and obviously alone in the room.

“Izzy?” he frowned, stood up and walked around his desk to lessen the distance between them, “What are you doing here?”

Isabel glanced around the room looking for some signs that he had been with someone else, but all she could see was the stacks of files on his desk and the many Styrofoam coffee cups stacked in the trash can.

“Who were you just talking to?’ she questioned turning her gaze back to him and crossing her arms across her chest.

Alex stepped closer to her and shook his head, “No one. I haven’t seen or heard anyone since I talked to you about an hour ago.”

“Then who were you just saying “yes, yes, yes’ too right before I got here?”

He chuckled and pointed a thumb over his shoulder in the vicinity of his computer, “I just figured out the problem that has been driving me crazy for weeks.” his cheeks turned a slight red in embarrassment, “I guess I got a little carried away with my enthusiasm.”

Isabel released a breath that she didn’t realized she had been holding in. He wasn’t having an affair, but she still needed to find out why he was avoiding her.

“Alex. We need to talk.”

He looked stunned, “Oh boy. That doesn’t sound good.” he leaned back on his desk as if bracing himself, “Are you breaking up with me?”

Isabel was shocked by his question, “No! I don’t want to break up with you, Alex.”

He let out a sigh and seemed to relax, “Then what do you want to talk about?”

For as long as Isabel could remember she had been a ‘direct and to the point’ type of girl. She wasn’t about to stop now, “Why are you avoiding me?”

Alex once again looked stunned as if the air had been knocked right out of him, “Avoiding you? I’m not avoiding you, Isabel. What has given you that idea?”

“Maybe because this last month you have broken most of our dates; and do you know how long it has been since we last made love?” she asked as a lump formed in her throat and she had to struggle to keep the tears at bay.

“8 days, 7 hours and...” he glanced down at his watch, “12 minutes.”

Isabel couldn’t help but smile at that but quickly made herself focus on the conversation and not on how adorable he looked at recalling the time, “Exactly, Alex. We haven’t been intimate in so long and I feel like I am losing you.”

“Oh, baby.” he said as he took the finally steps toward her and wrapped her in his arms, “Why didn’t you say something sooner? I have been so wrapped up in this latest project that I have been blind to what’s been going on around me.”

The tears were now coming freely down her cheeks as she buried her face into his neck finding her special place and inhaling his familiar scent. He held her for a long time just whispering words of love over and over into her ear until she finally calmed and was able to take a step back.

“I’m sorry, Iz.” he said as he brushed the tears from her cheeks, “I had no idea that it would get this bad. I thought I could handle all of this extra work and be with you at the same time. I should have known that I wouldn’t be able to juggle everything.”

Isabel sighed and reached up to run her fingers through the back of his hair, “Just talk to me, Alex. That’s all I ask. You have no idea what sort of things I was imagining.”

He gave a slight frown, “Like what?”

She chuckled, “Well... I thought maybe you were having an affair.”

“WHAT?!” he stepped back looking slightly wounded, “How could you think that of me, Isabel? You know that I would never do that. I love you too much to ever even think of another woman.”

Isabel felt the smile split her face as she reached out and pulled him back toward him, “You better.”

Alex returned her smile and wrapped his own arms around her, tilting his head so that he was only inches from her mouth, “I can barely handle you...I don’t think I could deal with another woman.”

She laughed but the sound was silenced by his kiss as he tried to show her, without words, how much she meant to him. Isabel let out a moan of pleasure as his tongue swept between her lips and the passion that had been suppressed for way to long emerged from it hibernation and over took them.

Alex pushed her jacket from her shoulders letting it fall to the floor. His hands caressed her bottom and groaned, and she smiled beneath his lips at the fact that he had finally realized she was wearing her leathers. Isabel soon felt his fingers begin fumbling for the buttons on her shirt before he pulled back to look down at the intricate fastening with a frown.

“Is this new?” he motioned to the green top that she had chose to wear that evening.

She shook her head as she leaned forward needing to trail a line of kisses along his jaw, “No, I’ve had it for years.”

Alex sighed, “Good.” and with a twist of his hand the buttons popped open and she was standing there with a torn shirt, “Green is not your color.”

Isabel laughed aloud and had to agree with him. If tonight was anything to go by...green was definitely not her color. She now was sure that their love was true and that she would never have to see green again.

Her mind then became a complete blank once Alex dragged her to the floor and they finally ended their self imposed celibacy.

A/N Here is the MATURE part of the story. This is my first time posting a mature part so please let me know how I did.. If it is as badly as I fear I will do every one a favor and never attempt it again

As always thanks for the positive feedback

Disclaimer: The poem used in this part is called "Marriage" aka "The Journey" by Maura Penders. I do not own it but loved it the first time I heard it on Days of Our Lives.

I'm looking for something in white
Something that shimmers in soft candlelight
Everyone calls us the most perfect pair
Should I wear a veil or a rose in my hair
Well, the train must be long and the waist must be tight
I'm looking for something in white

Part 3 - White

The color meant pure and innocent.

Isabel had to laugh out loud at the thought. She was neither innocent or pure, but she would be damned if she wasn’t going to wear it on her wedding day.

When she had made that comment to Alex, months ago, he had also laughed and then proceeded to demonstrate how innocent and pure she wasn’t. Even now, she blushed at the memory of all they had done that night.

Isabel smiled at the thought of him. He had been so great through out her manic obsessive days of their engagement and had even helped her a time or two when she was at her wits end.

Alex had been the perfect boyfriend, most thoughtful boyfriend and now....

She glanced in the full length mirror at the wedding dress that lovingly hugged all of her curves and cupped her in all the right places.

Now he would be the best husband.

Isabel could still see the way Alex’s eyes had lit up when she started down the aisle toward him. That moment had made the intense search for the perfect dress in every magazine and bridal shop worth the effort. She had him completely awed.

He wasn’t the only one who was in awe. The black tux that he wore had made her mouth water and go dry at the same time. He had done everything per her instructions and the affect had made her dizzy as they stood there.

Their “I do’s” had been said with such love and adoration that there couldn’t have been a dry eye in the church as they pledged their love to each other. Tears were glistening, also, in both of their eyes as the preacher pronounced them husband and wife and before he could even say “You may now kiss your bride,” Isabel had already pulled Alex to her in a kiss that left everyone in the room sighing.

Seeing a movement in the mirror, Isabel turned to find the object of her thoughts walking toward her still in his tux and with a smile that stopped her heart as he carried two glasses of champagne.

God he was sexy and he was all hers

“Hello wife.” he smiled as he leaned forward to brush a kiss gently across her lips, “I brought us some champagne since neither one of us got a chance to enjoy it at the reception.”

She accepted her glass as she remembered how they had barely been able to sit, rest, eat or drink during their reception. Someone at all times had been bending their ear and congratulating them. All Isabel had wanted to do all evening was to start her honeymoon with her husband.

“It was nice to see every one though.” she sipped on her glass as she looked into his green eyes. Would she ever get tired of looking into them?

He reached over and brushed his fingers across her cheek, “You took my breath away today when you walked into the church.”

Isabel smiled and reached up to grab his hand. She brought it to her lips and pressed a kiss to his palm, “Yeah...well you took my breath away with that poem.”

Alex gave her a smug smile, “You liked that?”

“Oh yeah.” she sighed with happiness remembering how her heart had raced, “Tell it to me again.”

He nodded and took her glass from her hand to set it on the bedside table before wrapping his arms around her waist. They had gotten a suite at the local fancy hotel to stay at for their wedding night. Tomorrow they would be on a flight to Hawaii where they would spend the next two weeks just enjoying each other.

Alex cleared his throat as he looked down into her eyes before starting to recite the poem that had made the tears pool in them only hours before:

“Now we will feel no rain
For each of us will be shelter to each other
And now we will feel no cold
For each of us will be warmth to each other.
Now there is no loneliness
We are two bodies, but there is one life before us
and one home.
When evening falls, I’ll look for you
and there you will be.
And I’ll take your hand and you’ll take mine
And we’ll turn together and we’ll look to the road we
traveled to reach this – The hour of our happiness
It stretched far behind us, and our future lies ahead
A long and winding road where every turning means new discovery
All the hopes, new laughter, shared tears,
The adventure has just begun.”

Isabel sniffed back her tears telling herself she would not cry this time no matter how beautiful it was. So instead she buried her face into his neck, one of her favorite places, and held him tightly.

Finally she slipped from his arms and turned her back to him pushing the long veil over her shoulder, “Could you unfasten the buttons on this dress for me?”

Alex returned her smile and rubbed his hands together with obvious glee, “It’s a tough job but someone has to do it.”

The buttons and hooks were small but he was able to complete his task in seconds. Isabel turned back around, nipped his bottom lip with her teeth and began to walk away.

“Wait Where are you going?” Alex asked standing their confused.

“I thought I would go slip into one of those pieces of lingerie that I got at my shower.” she grinned as she grabbed a small suitcase before making her way to the bathroom, “I’ll be right back.”

Isabel was true to her word, when only a few minutes later she stepped back into the room wearing a white lace see through baby doll with matching g-string panties. She could tell that she had shocked him once again today as he stood there speechless.

“Do you like?” she asked with a husky voice becoming aroused at his look.

Alex could only nod as he continued to stare and she couldn’t help but chuckle. Deciding to take pity on him she sauntered over to him and pushed his jacket off his shoulders so that it fell to the floor in a puddle at their feet.

“I love you, Alex” she whispered looking into his desire filled eyes and knowing hers reflected the same.

“I love you, too, Isabel.”

She pulled on the end of his bow tie, letting it fall to the floor before reaching up to undo the top buttons of his white dress shirt. Undressing Alex had always been one of her favorite things to do. She just loved revealing his skin to her eyes inch by inch until he was bare and unable to hide from her.

“Isabel” he whispered her name on a sigh as his hands caressed her back and then down over the curves of her behind, cupping her and pulling her against him so that she would be able to feel his evident desire.

She finally got all of the buttons and cufflinks taken care of and now the shirt followed the bow tie and the jacket. Isabel couldn’t help but admire his chest as her hands slipped up to caress his smooth skin.

Her fingers brushed across his hardened nipples and she heard a low moan escape from his lips. She did it again and was not at all surprised to hear the sound. Alex was very sensitive. Almost as sensitive as she was.
Isabel leaned forward and let her tongue caress one of his nipples before gently nipping it with her teeth. Hearing his murmurs of approval she moved across his chest to lavish the same attention to the other side.

Several minutes later she finally lifted her head and placed her lips over his wanting to touch him even more intimately. Her hands ran across his stomach searching for the buckle of his pants and smiling against his lips when the zipper was released.

The back of her knuckles brushed against his straining erection causing his fingers to flex from where they were still cupping the curve of her behind. Their kisses became more frantic, breaths panted and hearts raced as their arousal was turned up a notch.

Isabel, with a gentle push at his waist, guided him over to the bed and then to sit on the edge. He looked up at her as she stood there his chest flushed with arousal and his eyes questioning her motions. She just smiled at him and slowly knelt down between his knees running her hands down his thighs giving a light caress to his legs until they reached his shoes.

Alex’s eyes watched her as she untied the right shoe and then slipped it from his foot along with the sock. She did the same to the other foot giving both a loving caress before her hands slipped into the leg of his pants to his calves. His eyes drifted shut and she could tell that he was enjoying the special attention that she was giving him.

Finally he opened his eyes and smiled. “Whose making love to whom?”

She raised up and captured his lips again in a wet kiss before pulling back to breath, “I am going to make love to my husband. Do you have a problem with that?”

The color of his eyes turned a darker green at her words and his voice became even more aroused, “No.... I definitely don’t have a problem with that.”

Isabel smiled predatorily at him, “Good.”

Her hands traced a path back up his legs and between his thighs only stopping to caress the bulge that was covered by his pants. She tugged down the waist band and with a little help from Alex was able to slip the material from his legs to land somewhere forgotten.

Isabel really didn’t care. Her attention was now focused on the white briefs that were shielding her view from her prize. Gently she peeled back the tight shorts releasing him to her gaze and hands as she grasped him knowing just how he liked to be touched.

Alex groaned in response, his eyes searching hers and she knew he was trying to ask her for more but was unable to voice his desires right then. His breathing hitched when she leaned forward and pressed a soft kiss to the tip and then along the shaft, while stroking as much of him that she could get her hand around.

He said her name again with a ragged breath as she closed her lips around him and sucked gently while using her tongue to swirl around his shaft. Isabel set up a rythmn that was comfortable for her but pleasurable for him and felt his hands slip into her hair pulling her back.

She glanced up at him in confusion wondering why he wanted her to stop. She knew he loved it when she did this for him and she had to admit that it did something to her to be able to take care of him like this.

“What’s wrong?”

He shook his head quickly and pulled her up to him, “Nothing...That was incredible.” he leaned down and pressed his head to hers still panting from the experience, “I just want you so badly that I don’t think I can last that long tonight.”

Isabel understood what he meant. The whole day had been culminating up to this moment where it was just about them and their love for one another celebrated with the act that would bond their souls together for life.

‘Okay that was a corny thought’ Isabel gave an internal chuckle, ‘I just wanted to make love to Alex all day today and now I get to. Yeah, that sounds right.’

Her thoughts were silenced when she felt Alex cup his hands over her lace covered breast while his lips trailed a path down her throat and along her collarbone. She sighed at the caresses and then gasped as he pinched her harden nipple between his thumb and forefinger causing a flood of desire to rush to the center of her body.

“Oh God, Alex” she moaned as his lips replaced his fingers and she was running her hands through his hair pulling him closer.

The baby doll lingerie set was quickly removed a few seconds later and Isabel found herself lying on the bed with Alex hovering over looking down in to her eyes. His fingers found her entrance and she knew he felt her slick and ready to his touch.

Alex’s lips found hers once more and as their tongues and teeth fought for dominance, he settled fully into the vee of her legs pressing her down into the bed. She slipped her hands around his slim waist and pressed on the small of his back urging him closer.

Taking her hint, he entered her slowly stretching her with his penetration. They tried to take it slow and easy, starting off with a pace that allowed caresses from hands and mouths as they moved together but passions soon over took them.

Isabel gasped his name as she felt her climax building and she bit his shoulder trying to hold in the scream that was threatening to over take her. Her internal muscles caressed him and soon he was crashing over the wall with her, emptying into her as they panted and moaned in the after shocks of their passions.

As their breathing returned, Isabel felt Alex’s eyes on her and she opened hers to find him smiling down at her with adoration shining in those beautiful green orbs, “I love you, Isabel Whitman.”

She smiled widely loving hearing that name from his lips as she leaned forward and pressed her lips to his whispering “I love you, too, Alex Whitman.”

A/N: **News Flash** I have never had a child and so this part was a little hard for me to write. I did some on-line researching as well as asked some of my friends about their experiences so I hope I have at least gotten something right

As always... Thanks for all of the support and feeedback. That was my first mature post so I was glad for all the encouragement. I hoep you feel the same on this part

I'm looking for something in blue
Something real tiny, the baby's brand new
He has his father's nose and his chin
We once were hot lovers-Now we're more like friends
Don't tell me that's just what old married folk do
I'm looking for something in blue

Part 4 - Blue

He was beautiful.

Isabel couldn’t take her eyes off of him as he slept peacefully and deeply. She often found herself keeping a vigil over him most nights just to listen to his slow and even breathing. During those quiet moments she thanked God for bringing him in to her life.

Andrew Jack Whitman.

He was definitely his father’s son. From his thick dark hair, to his eyes, nose and chin. He was a Whitman through and through and no would could claim that he wasn’t. The only thing he got from his mother was his ears, which she also said a prayer of thanks for.

The thought made her smile as she leaned over the crib and pressed a gentle kiss to his forehead inhaling his powder fresh scent that always clung to babies. At 2 months old, Jack was already growing so fast that Isabel felt that if she blinked he would already be in high school.

How had she gotten so lucky? In less than 3 years she had become the wife of a loving man and now the mother of a beautiful baby boy. Someone was definitely looking out for her because she had never been so happy in her entire life.

Well...almost happy. Isabel would be happier if she and Alex were still intimate but it had been almost 4 months since they last made love and she was feeling neglected.

Was he no longer attracted to her?

Alex had always made Isabel feel loved by his words and touch, but lately he had been avoiding the latter. There had been times when she had snuggled up to him on the couch or in bed and she could feel the definite change in his mannerism toward her. Instead of their normal sleep position of him cuddled up behind her and his arms wrapped around her, Alex was now sleeping with his back toward her.

Isabel sighed as she looked around the room that they had spent most of her pregnancy fixing up. Toys, outfits and other baby items were placed sporadically around and she was reminded of her baby shower and the conversation she had with a work friend.

“Well Isabel...I hope that you know that once this baby is born you and Alex will never have a moments peace again.” Lori chuckled, “Forget about sex because soon you will either be too tired or even have the time.”

Isabel shook her head in disbelief, “No. That won’t happen to Alex and me.”

“Yeah right. I thought the same with my husband.” Lori sighed, “I can’t remember the last time we made love.”

Isabel glanced back down at Jack wondering if she had lost the man that she loved with the creation of this beautiful baby. Was Lori right and intimacy took a back seat to their child?

“Is he finally asleep?”

She was startled from her thoughts and she turned toward the door to find her husband craning his head to see around her and into the crib.

“Yeah. He nodded off about 10 minutes ago.” she returned her gaze back to her sleeping son, “He takes after his father. Once he gets a belly full, he is out like a light.”

Alex chuckled at her comment and walked over to stand beside her. They stood there quietly for a few minutes just watching Jack and enjoying the silence that a sleeping baby gave them.

“He’s perfect, Iz.” Alex whispered and she looked over at him to see his eyes filled with tears, “A part of me and a part of you.”

She smiled as her heart skipped at his awed voice, “I know.”

He turned his gaze on her and gave her the smile that had to have been made just for her, “Thank you.”

Her smile disappeared and she wondered why he had thanked her? Was he thanking her for a job well done and now it was over?

“Thank you?” she asked incredulously her voice raising slightly in anger.

Alex’s own smile slipped from his face and he took on a look of confusion, “What’s wrong?”

Isabel decided that enough was enough and they would just have to have it out tonight. There was no way she would go on like this. She had promised herself over three years ago that she would not let any problems sit and fester but to talk it over with Alex before she went off the handle.

“What’s going on, Alex?” she questioned wrapping her arms around her waist in a defensive posture while eyeing her husband.

“What do you mean?” he glanced around the room as if looking for answers to his wife’s sudden mood change.

“Do you think I need to lose more weight?” Isabel asked with a raised eyebrow, “I know I am not exactly the same weight as I was a year ago.”

Although, she was proud that she was only one size away from that goal. During her pregnancy, she had only gained the required weight and was now quickly shedding the pounds with healthy eating and exercise.

Alex glanced down her body, “Do you want to lose more weight?”

Isabel hated when he answered a question with a question, “I am asking you. Do you think I need to lose more weight?”

He ran a hand through his dark hair then glanced over at the open doorway as if to measure the distance. Finally, he shook his head and looked back at her, “I think you look beautiful no matter your size, Isabel. But if you really need a yes or no answer then I would have to say no. I don’t think you need to lose more weight. You’re perfect.”

Isabel could see the honesty in his eyes but was still confused over his recent withdrawal. She ran down the list of her other faults but couldn’t find one that would keep him away from her.

‘Then why?” tears began to form in her eyes.

“Why what?”

At that moment Jack made a sound of displeasure and both of their eyes settled on him hoping that he hadn’t woken up. They had already spent many sleepless nights feeding, changing diapers and rocking him. When he settled back down Alex motioned for Isabel to leave the room with him so they wouldn’t disturb the baby anymore with their conversation.

Once they arrived in their bedroom he turned toward her, “Okay, what’s going on, Isabel? You have never been insecure about your weight or your looks before and you know that I don’t care about those things.” he moved closer, “I love you. All of you.”

Isabel let out a long sigh and leaned forward to place her forehead on his chest. She didn’t think she could look at him until she heard the answer to her next question.

“Then why haven’t we made love?” she whispered.

“What?” his voice was full of shock.

“We haven’t made love in months, Alex.”

He took a deep breath and she could feel his arms come around her as he pressed a kiss to the top of her bent head, “Isabel, you don’t know how badly I have wanted to but you just had a baby not too long ago.”

She finally raised her eyes to his, “The doctor gave his okay at the 6 week post-natal check up, Alex.”

He nodded, “I know what the doctor said but I have been doing some on-line reading, honey. Everything advised me to give you time to recover emotionally and physically. I didn’t want to pressure you into something you didn’t want to do.”

Isabel reached up and slid a hand to the back of his neck, “I know we couldn’t have sex for a while but what about you just holding me? I have missed that so much, Alex.”

Alex chuckled and pulled her to him in a tight hug, “Do you think I could have held you without you feeling how much I desired you?”

She knew he was telling the truth for at that moment his arousal was pressed against her stomach and Isabel couldn’t stop the moan that escaped from between her lips. She had missed this so much that just the hint of his passion for her caused her own to soar.

“Did you really think I would ever not want to make love to you, Isabel?” he whispered against her ear, “I think the fact that you are the mother of my child makes you even more desirable to me.”

Isabel sighed her pleasure as she felt his lips press against her jaw line and then right below her ear. “Alex, I need you to make love to me.”
“Are you sure, Isabel? I don’t want to hurt you.” His eyes flashed with worry as he lifted his head to look at her.

Isabel slid her hands down his back giving it a gentle rub, “Let’s just take it slow and easy.”

When his lips found hers, Isabel knew that he had given in and she gave a silent plea that Jack would continue to sleep. She really needed to be with Alex and she didn’t want anyone or anything disrupting them.

Alex broke their kiss to focus on the row of buttons on the blouse she was wearing. Isabel had begun to wear them for easy access when breast-feeding Jack, but right now she was frustrated that it was taking too long for her husband to remove the garment.

Finally he brushed back the shirt from her shoulders and down her arms. Alex stroked his hand across her shoulders to the straps of her bra ,causing Isabel to shiver as he dipped his head to brush his lips against the hollow of her throat.

Could he feel the way her pulse raced at his touch?

His palms slipped over her lace covered breast and another groan emitted from her at the intimate contact. Since the birth, Isabel’s breast had been even more sensitive to the touch, but because Alex was the one touching her she felt like a live wire.

He expertly flicked the clasp of her bra and slipped the straps down her arms. His green eyes were transfixed on her exposed breast and she wondered if he noticed that they had also increased in size.
Was he pleased with what he saw?

All thoughts soon left her brain as his fingers rubbed gently across her nipples causing them to pebble at his touch. This time she caught her bottom lip with her teeth to prevent the sound of pleasure from slipping out.

“That feels incredible.” Isabel gasped as their eyes connected.

Alex smiled at her knowingly, “If that feels incredible, then what does this feel like?” he questioned just before he lowered his mouth to her breast.

“Oh ” Isabel sighed as her eyes fluttered shut at the sensations that were racing through her body. All she could do was tighten her fingers in his hair and hold him closer never wanting the moment to end but knowing that he could do so much more.

“More.” She whispered the demand and he quickly snapped open her jeans, pushed them down her long legs and fell to his knees in front of her.

His lips automatically began to press gentle kisses along the swell of her stomach causing little flutters inside her body. Isabel gazed down at him, watching as he made love to her belly button with his tongue, and wanted him to continue his caresses but just a little bit lower.

She gave a gentle nudge on his head and then a gasp as his roving fingers ran up her legs and then underneath the edge of her panties. Alex cupped her behind for a moment giving it a light squeeze before removing the flimsy material.

Even before Isabel could step out of them, his fingers and breath brushed across her soft curls and she let out another sigh. Her legs began to shake and for a moment she thought that she wouldn’t be able to stay upright, until she felt his hands grip her hips to steady her.

Alex parted her folds with his tongue and gentle suckled causing her to writhe above him and grip his shoulders tightly. He gave special attention to her nub making sure she was slick, wet and on the edge of a climax that would help ready her for their love making.

Isabel’s breath grew labored and she found herself begging for the release that her body now sought. He flicked his tongue over and over against her and she moaned his name, shaking with the power of the climax that soon over took her.

Rising from his position, Alex pulled her tightly into his arms and pressed his lips back to hers taking her breath away with his obvious desire.

“I love you, Isabel” he whispered as he caressed her back and held her.

“I love you, too.” She smiled a satisfied smile up at him all but purring in contentment, “How about we get you undressed so I can return the favor?”

He grinned as they began to hurriedly remove his shirt, pants and boxer shorts. Then before either one knew it they were tumbling on to the bed in a tangle of limbs as their mouths once again fused together passionately.

Isabel lightly scratched his behind and heard his growl in response. She was so ready for him that if he didn’t make love to her soon she would have to scream in frustration.

“Now Alex.” she demanded against his ear as her teeth nipped at the skin of his lobe.

He pulled back to gaze down at her with eyes so filled with passion but at the same time something was still holding him back from doing what they both wanted, “What about birth control, Iz? I read that while you are breast-feeding you can’t take your birth control. You could easily get pregnant again and no matter how much I want another baby I think we should hold off a little while longer.”

Isabel couldn’t help but smile at her thoughtful husband and at the same time she reached over to the drawer of the night stand. “I got us a supply of condoms right after the last doctor visit.”

Alex laughed out loud as he grabbed a condom packet and as she watched he quickly rolled it on his throbbing member. Unable to help herself, Isabel reached out to caress his manhood and grin wickedly when he groaned out his pleasure from her touch.

Not wanting to wait another minute longer Alex placed himself at her entrance and, still being careful of her, slid in slow and easy. Once he was sheathed inside of her, both took a moment to once again get use to the feeling of completeness that overcame them.

“Oh, Isabel. You’re so tight.” Alex groaned in surprise.

She grinned up at him and contracted her inner muscles around him causing another groan to escape him, “I have been doing kegel exercises. It seems to be working.”

“I’ll say.” he moaned before his lips dropped back to hers and his hips snapped forward to completely fill her.

Slowly, they began a rhythm and as their pace increased he withdrew and entered her over and over again. Isabel’s hands gripped his muscled shoulders meeting his thrust with her own as the climax began to build within her. Alex’s mouth covered hers muffling her cries as the wave over took her and he crashed over the edge right along with her.

Once they had come back to earth, Alex looked down at her with a grin, “WOW ”

Isabel nodded her head as she returned her husbands grin, “Double WOW ”

He rolled on to his side dragging her with him as they cuddled together enjoying the intimacy that they had both missed.

“Isabel?” Alex whispered as his fingers traced patterns on her back, “I just want you to know that you will never have to worry about me not wanting you. I can’t remember a time when you haven’t been on my mind or in my heart.”

She leaned back to see his face, “I feel the same.”

He lifted a finger to press against her lips in silence, “I know we are going to have some good and bad times but I will make you this promise. I will always be standing beside you through it all.”

Isabel felt the tears in her eyes and she leaned over to press her lips to his. They were about to deepen the kiss when the sound of Jack crying floated through the open door and both pulled back to look at the other with a smile.

“I’ll get him.” she whispered as she slipped from under the covers and grabbed his shirt from the floor. Leaning over him she pressed a quick kiss to his lips before she went to calm down their interrupter.

This was how their life would be now and Isabel decided that she wouldn’t have it any other way.
