*Michael*

I have to say, this has been a loser day. I can't believe I'm even thinking this, but it's been a bit boring without Max around. He's a pain in the rear, but tormenting him has been pretty much my major entertainment around here. With Tess gone, I can't even be working on stealing her away from him. ... Maybe I should have gone along on their little day-trip but it just seemed so boring!

I did see Maria moping around earlier but I stayed clear of her. If she wants to not talk to me, there's no reason for me to be in the same room for it. I got better things to do than be ignored by someone who was supposed to be my girl -- someone who used to be all bubbly and fun.

Thank God for ESPN. The hockey game is just about over and then we got a football game starting. That'll be great. This morning I actually spent some time watching bowling, of all things. Got some real sports now.

"Look at the bright side, Liz." I tell her. "There might be many pleasant surprises ahead of you tonight." Also unpleasant ones but I am not gonna say that out loud.

"And ... if you really really really have no idea what to do ... well, I certainly wouldn't mind if I find some more cookies when I get home later." I flash a hopeful grin at her, maybe she'll do me the favor.

“Oooh, cookies sound like a good idea.” I say, flashing a grin at Liz. “And it might be helpful being around a jug of water in case Michael gets anymore funny ideas.”

I narrow my eyes as I inspect my appearance for the final time. I really do wish that Kyle had at least hinted at where we were going tonight. I have no idea if I’m overdressed or underdressed and I doubt I will know until I get to wherever we are going.

“Right, I’m ready.” I say, finally turning to face the pair. “I guess I should go and put Kyle out of his misery. Have funny with whatever you decide to do tonight, Liz. Bye, Alex.”

Wow! She looks gorgeous! If she'd be wearing something like that for me ... no, don't go there Alex - never gonna happen.

"May I escort you milady?" I ask with a fake english accent and hold my arm out for her. "That way, it will be an even bigger entrance you are going to make."

I nod in reply to Alex’s question, only because I cannot think of a plausible reason to say no and there is no way that I’m going to openly admit that I would rather go downstairs by myself so that Kyle and I can leave before Alex’s date gets here.

“Is Kyle really nervous or was it just a ploy to make me finish getting ready quicker?” I ask, deciding that if I focus on my date with Kyle then I don’t have to think about anything I don’t want to think about.

She said yes! Oh why did she say yes? Ah yes, I asked her and she's polite and didn't refuse! Great, now I'm walking down with her when she's looking so gorgeous and have to hand her over to another man! Wow, that sounds a lot like walking your daughter down the aisle. Weird!

"Is Kyle really nervous or was it just a ploy to make me finish getting ready quicker?”[/i

Isabel's question caught me by surprise. I can't really tell her that Kyle is annoyed with waiting now can I? Would make him look bad and ... hmmm ... no, I'm a nice guy and nice guys don't do that.

"Well, I'd never take part in such an evil plan, Iz. Lets just say that Kyle ... isn't dealing very well with the wait ... kinda makes him rethink everything he planned and all that, I think."

“I wouldn’t have taken so long to get ready if I had known where we were going tonight.” I state, because its kinda the truth. I probably wouldn’t have taken as long to get tonight if I had known where we were going but I would have taken long enough to make sure that I looked perfected. Perfection takes a while. It doesn’t happen by magic.

“Even if he had given me a small hint.” I finish with another roll of my eyes. Really what does Kyle expect?

As we walk into the kitchen, I plaster a smile onto my face. I’m determined to have fun tonight.

Ah, Isabel doesn't like surprises. Have to remember that. Even though I'm not sure what for.

"Well, try to think of it positively - this whole thing," I wave my free hand around a bit, "is about new experiences and ... surprises. Just take it as another experience you make - something you can tell your kids about one day."

I don't think Isabel is very iimpressed by my words but since we already arrived, she can't really object.

KYLE

I'm playing with the cap of a water bottle when someone clears his throat. Looking up, I spot Alex in the doorway, Isabel on his arm. SOmething about that picture strikes me as odd but I can't say what.

"Wow! You look great Isabel!" I state approvingly, my eyes moving up and down her body. She's actually a bit overdressed but I won't tell her that - she might start looking for another outfit if i do. And there will be no other guy with such a stunning company at the bar!

"I'm certainly glad that you agreed to go out on a date with me." I tell her as I move closer, questionly glancing at Alex who promptly leaves her side and sits down at the table where I sat a moment ago.

"You ready to go, Isabel?" I ask.

“Yep, let’s get going.” I say with a eager nod.

Looks like I won’t have to see Alex with whatever his date’s name is. Thank God, I’ve never been very good at making pleasantries. I wish that Alex wasn’t going on this date tonight, he deserves so much better then some redhead (who probably isn’t even a nature redhead.)

I smile briefly at Alex, “Have fun tonight and if you make it home before me and Liz has made cookies, make sure that you don‘t eat all of them!”

“Have fun tonight and if you make it home before me and Liz has made cookies, make sure that you don‘t eat all of them!”

"I'm not gonna promise that. And have fun too!" I yell after them when they leave me alone. All alone in the kitchen. Again. "Just not too much fun." I say quietly to myself so no one can hear it.

KYLE

Too bad that Michael isn't around so he can see how I leave with Isabel who looks damn sexy. I bet that would wipe the constant smirk off of his face. When we step out of the house, I hesitate for a moment, now comes the tricky part of tonight.

"Uh, Isabel? I know this is not very traditional now but ... well, you see, I don't have a car here so we kinda would have to drive with yours. So, I hope you don't mind if I just tell you where to drive instead of drivign you myself."

Okay, that didn't sound that self confident. I actually sounded like a fool. well, now I'm glad that Michael isn't around to watch.

"Or I can drive your car if you want ... hell, I'm sure that Alex would even lend me his since Ashley will pick him up."
