"First off, you don't want to know my secrets. I've spent years collecting dirt on everyone. I rule the school. So therefore I have to know everybody else's business. It's like a requirement or something. The things I know would scare you."
What a lot of crap this whole high school society game is...I am just about fed up of it "Not that I am interested in knowing the dirt on half those weirdos we call classmates...but fyi,I don't scare easy.I endured the hazing my team mates put me through for one month after I joined the team." I tell her conversationally
"I could care less about taming the wild beast. Thank you very much." She concludes before rushing back to the cash register
I can't help but follow her...this is fun.I haven't really had many female friends and Maria seems interesting and fun to hang out with.
"Wild beast eh?" I say across the counter from her "I'm sure he'd love to know his new nick name." I chuckle when I see her expression
"Rath comes over to the Evans' nearly every weekend...you know their families are close and all...so I'm bound to bump in to him.I can always mention it..." I trail off purposely and hurry to a table where a customer wants to order

Much to my dismay the annoying if not admirably insistant guy follows me over to the cash regester."Wild beast eh?" He teases as he plants his hand on the counter. Crossing my arms acorss my chest I do my best to look aggravated ,but I fail miserably. He's just to much fun to be around.
"I'm sure he'd love to know his new nick name." Shock,surprise and then anger display acorss my normally heavly guarded features. He wouldn't dare... Oh he would!
"Rath comes over to the Evans' nearly every weekend...you know their families are close and all...so I'm bound to bump in to him.I can always mention it..." he trails off before retreating to the opposite side of the room to take an order. That man is infuriating!
A thought crosses my mind thatI hadn't considered before. Smirking devilishly I wonder aimlessly over to where he's standing and I nonchalantly mention,
"Well, I suppose you could, but then I'd be forced to tell Ms. Teen Dream AKA Isabel Evans about a certain lil thing ya got for her." I smirk mischievously.
"You know we are both on the Dance Comittee. It could just slip out in random conversation."

So she's trying to scare me off "Why,are you blackmailing me?" I say in mock surprise and cover my mouth with my hand to emphasise the shock "That is so bloody sneaky Maria." I finish off with a grin
However that is not going to work...she actually might be doing me a favour by telling Isabel...I won't have to have a coronary every time I step in to the Evans' household if the truth were out in the open.

I flash her a brilliant smile "Geez...that would be fantastic.Could you do that?It would make things so much easier." I say eagerly

The jerk gives me the biggest grin and I'm to happy to be pissed off. He's really enjoying making me squirm."Geez...that would be fantastic.Could you do that?It would make things so much easier." he replies excitedly and I roll my eyes in frustration. "That soo did not have the desired affect." I state almost to myself.
"Tell ya what?" I begin with a bargain. "I'll put in a good word with the chica for ya if you promise.." Putting emphasize on the word promise. "That you won't tell Rath about the whole I think he's a sexy beast thing." I can't help but laugh whole heartedly at his grin. If you would have told me that I'd be negotiating with Alex Whittman on keeping/revealing secrets I would have never believed it.

He examines my outstretched pinky for a moment in disbelief before rolling his eyes good naturedly."You've got yourself a deal girl." He hooks his finger around mine but the alughter does not ease up."I swear I won't tell Rath that you think he's a sexy beast. He vows and I release my hold on his finger. "Okay,"
Strolling over to the table where Mr. Montgomery used to sit I pick up two dimes off the table. "That's my tip." I grumble holding up the coins. "I bring him food and refill his coffee cup half a dozen times and I get 20 cents!"Dropping the coins in the tip jar by the cash regester I sigh and wish that this day would hurry up and end so I could finish my shift.
"Hey, Alex!" I exclaim remembering a bit of cheery school related function news. "When's that big swim meet coming up?" The neighboring town is always rivaling us in the athletics competeion and it just so happens that this year we've kicked ass everytime we've come up against them. Besides I love seeing all the guys from a different school in their speedos. It's refreshing.

The usual post-lunch lull seems to have started so I decide to take a breather and sit at the counter while Maria goes to collect her tip...which she seems none too pleased with.
"When's that big swim meet coming up?" she asks once she's behind the counter making a milkshake
Instantly I perk up "Oh you mean the one against Clovis High?...that's in a weeks time.The posters went up this afternoon so you guys will see them on Monday morning."
"We're going to be on their turf this time round." I say seriously.The swimming team rivalry between the two schools is well known throughout both towns.
"We'll be taking a cheering squad along with us for some moral support...I could put you down on the list.With your high connections I'm sure they won't strike you off it.It'll be fun."

His head snaps to attention like I just offered him a cookie. Mischeivously, I snicker at his obvious excitment. "Oh you mean the one against Clovis High?...that's in a weeks time.The posters went up this afternoon so you guys will see them on Monday morning." He informs me with a twinge of pride that he had a bit of info that I had lacked.
"We're going to be on their turf this time round." He states as his face becomes grave and contemplative. I know there's a lot of pressure being put on the swimmers. The whole town will probably show up at the event. That generally makes the athletes feel nervous.
"We'll be taking a cheering squad along with us for some moral support...I could put you down on the list.With your high connections I'm sure they won't strike you off it.It'll be fun." he assures me with a happy expression. Alex is a pretty cool guy I must say. I granted I may have had my doubts considering who he's friends with ,but I guess I'll leave that social ladder crap for school.
"Would you really?" I ask eagerly. Jumping up and down for joy I do a little victory dance. "I can't wait!"
Trying not to press my luck I take a step forward cautiously, "Is there any way I can reserve a spot for one more. I'd like to bring a friend?" I question my bright eyes pleading with him in a way that is challenging him to turn me down.

Alex seems immune to the Deluca Charm. Usually all I have to do is bat my eyelashes and I get whatever I want ,but this guy... he's different from everyone else. I like that.
