“Lunch sounds good but I don’t really have time to make it a long one. I have to be at the next client’s at 1:45. Where can I meet you two?”
"Why not that small Cafe downtown?" I propose, glancing at Tess for her approval. "The one we always go to."
I smile at her suggestion. I love that place and it's just blocks from where my client is. "Sounds perfect. I'll be there in ten minutes or less, depending on how many lights I catch. If you get there first, order me a Coca Cola to drink. I love you!" I coo at her.
Just call me Phoenix...cause I'm back from the dead!

"Love you, too." I say into the phone right before hanging up the phone. I turn to Tess, "He'll meet us there in ten minutes."
I continue down the street and five minutes later we arrive to the small dinner we always go to.
"Here we are," I say as I park my car across the street from the dinner.
We quickly get out of the car, cross the street and enter the small dinner. We sit down at our usual booth near the front.
Once we're sitting down I reach out and open the the menu and glance up at Tess.
"So, what are you taking?" I ask her.

OT:
Guys, I'm just dropping a quick note to say that I have bronchitis and have been sleeping most of the last couple of days. Also, my grandfather in FL is in the hospital and I'm really worried about him since I just lost my other grandfather in July. I'm scared to death I'll lose him too mostly because I'm even closer to this one than my other grandfather. I'll try to post for my characters today or tomorrow depending on how I feel. Thanks for your understanding.

I pull into the café parking lot six minutes later and park my Beamer in a spot next to Isabel’s car. I get out whistling to myself and noting that it is just a glorious day. It only seems to get better when I walk into the restaurant and spot the love of my life and her best friend seated at “our booth”. They are both buried in the menu and I roll my eyes in amusement because Isabel always orders the same thing if we’re here for lunch: the mandarin chicken salad, no croutons, extra dressing on the side and a glass of iced tea, unsweetened with two lemon slices.
Walking up to the table, I grin at the fact that they haven’t even noticed me yet. “Excuse me, lovely ladies, is this seat taken?” I ask smoothly.

Maria and I are sitting here eating our take out and I’m looking around the display room with a critical eye, trying to look at it fresh. “Maria, if you were a young famous fashion designer would you hire me to do your wedding? Don’t say yes just because you’re my best friend and assistant. I need an honest answer. You know I really want this job…for both of us. We have two weddings this weekend and both of these together aren’t half as big as this one could be.”
I know I’m acting like a nut but this business is pretty much all I have, other than my father and Maria. If I’m not working, I’m spending time with one of them. My mom died of cancer two years ago and my world was turned upside down, again. She had always been my rock, the one I could talk to about anything and then when she had gotten sick, I had to be that way for her. Dad had done what he could but he was a wreck and some things, mom didn’t want him doing for her because it made her feel like less of a person to him, although he would have never seen it that way. When she was finally gone, I realized that I had never thought it would really happen. I had somehow fooled myself into thinking that if I kept taking care of her and kept praying and forgot about the fact that the doctors said she had terminal cancer that it would just go away. I was a mess for a long time after she died and only two people helped me through it, Maria and my other friend Kyle. My dad couldn’t really be there for me because he was grieving too and I had to be there for him. I don’t know what I would have done without Maria and Kyle.
