Summary: Max is a popular local musician. Liz is a music executive on vacation.
Author’s Note: I know it’s been forever since I’ve written anything, but this idea hit me after I watched “Shooting Livien”. Other than Max being a long haired musician and Liz working for a record label, there are really no other comparisons. I do use some of the “Roswell” settings such as the Crashdown, Pizza Pan, Senor Chow’s, UFO Museum, etc…
Part 1
Max Evans sat on the beat up couch in his apartment. His feet were on the edge of the two foot by three foot piece of plywood that was held up by four cinderblocks – his coffee table. In his hands, his most treasured possession – his guitar. Leaning back on the couch, he plucked the melody of the latest song he was writing.
He was a favorite at the local bars and clubs around Roswell, New Mexico. The pay wasn’t that great, but it along with his day job as assistant manager at the UFO Museum, paid the bills.
This was a path which neither he nor anyone else saw for himself. Max had always excelled academically and in athletics. It was believed that he would be an executive of some sort or a professional athlete. All that changed when his friend Alex asked him if he wanted to start a band their freshman year of high school. He found an old guitar in a pawn shop, fixed it up and taught himself how to play it. His talent was pure and natural. He then began studying music. He wanted to learn how to read and write it. And although he never neglected his studies and still participated in sports, little by little, music became his life’s goal.
That was ten years ago. Max was now a twenty-four year old college graduate with a degree in business and a disappointment to his parents. They just couldn’t understand why music had such a hold on their son. Sure, he was talented, but what had been what they saw as his weekend hobby, had consumed him. His father had set up interview after interview with several reputable companies, and Max dismissed them all. He was more than happy with the life he had. Okay, so his apartment was crappy and he didn’t have a lot, but what he had was his.
His phone rang. “Hello?”
“Hey man! You ready for tonight?”
Max smiled. Alex, even though he was working for a local computer software company, was still his best friend and bass player. The band had gone through many members and many names, but Alex and Max remained constant. Currently, they were Max, Alex and the Other X. The name was given to them by Max’s sister Isabel one extremely late night when they were in the middle of a midnight jam session. The subject of finding a new name and a new drummer was becoming heated when Isabel who was staying with Max at the time, blurted it out. When asked what she meant, she said that since their names both ended in “x” they ought to find another person that ended in “x” and let her get to sleep. After laughing and apologizing, they both agreed that the name could work.
They didn’t find a drummer who’s named ended in “x”, but they did find Maria DeLuca. She was a blond haired, green-eyed dynamo who was the best drummer either of them had ever heard. She even sang once in a while.
“What time is Maria getting there?” Max asked.
“You know her. She’ll walk in the door and on the stage five minutes before we go on.”
Max chuckled. “One of these days, we ought to tell her that the gig is an hour earlier.”
Alex gulped. “And piss her off? Have you lost your fucking mind?”
“You’re right. The last thing we need is the wrath of Maria. I’m gonna head to the shower. I’ll see you around seven.” Max hung up the phone and headed to the shower.
Liz Parker paid the cabdriver, grabbed her luggage and headed into the alien-themed restaurant that belonged to her parents. It felt weird being there. Although she was born in Roswell, and attended elementary school there, she’d been sent to boarding school at the age of eleven at the request of her grandmother. She saw something in Liz that was bigger than Roswell, New Mexico and the boarding school that she attended in upstate New York would open the world to her granddaughter.
And it had. She became a cultured young lady, with a passion for both business and music. After graduating two years early from high school, she attended Harvard Business School. It became obvious early on when she was interning with a minor record label that she had a knack for predicting what bands would make it and which ones wouldn’t. So upon graduating from Harvard, she was offered an entry level junior executive position with a small up and coming music label. Now at twenty-four, she was the top executive of a major music label.
Over the years, she had spent most of her vacations traveling with her family. In fact, she had only been back in Roswell once since she was eleven. That was for her grandmother’s funeral when she was sixteen. Even then it was only for a couple of days. Other than her parents, her only other connection to Roswell was with her childhood friend, Maria DeLuca. They had remained close though letters, e-mails and phone calls.
Liz headed toward the back room of the restaurant. She had just set her luggage down when she heard a high pitched squeal.
“LIZ!” The blond tackled her in a bear hug. “Oh my God! What are you doing here?”
“I decided it was time for a vacation.”
Maria looked at her like she’d grown a second head. “And you came here?”
Liz shrugged. “I haven’t been home in eight years. I thought it was time.”
“I can’ t believe your parents didn’t tell me that you were coming. No wonder they told me to take a few days off.”
Liz shook her head. “They have no idea. I just decided to drop in and surprise everyone.”
“Then why…”
“Maria, have you seen the inventor… Lizzie?” Jeff Parker was shocked to see his only child.
“Hi Dad.”
Jeff embraced her. “I can’t believe it. What are you doing here?”
Liz shrugged. “Can’t a girl come visit her parents and her friend?”
“Yeah, um, but you’ve kind of made it a habit of avoiding Roswell.” Her dad reminded her.
“I just wanted to come home. Okay?”
Jeff nodded. “Okay. Well, your mom’s in Las Cruses pricing equipment. We’re upgrading the entire kitchen. She’ll be back tomorrow.”
Liz sighed. “I guess I’ll take my stuff upstairs and get settled.”
“I’ll help you.” Maria grabbed one of her bags and led the way up the stairs to the Parker’s apartment.
“I’m glad you’re home, Liz.”
She hugged her dad. “Me too, dad.”
“You’ve got to.”
Liz took her clothes from one of her suitcases and placed them in the dresser. “Maria, I’m on vacation. The last thing I want to do is sit in a smoky bar and listen to a band.”
“But it’s my band. Well, not my band, it’s technically Max and Alex’s band, but I’m the drummer. Please?” Maria begged.
“I don’t think it’s a good idea. You know what I do for a living. They’re gonna want something from me.”
Maria shook her head. “Liz, they don’t know what you do. I doubt they remember you at all. Max moved here in the third grade. You were gone two years later. Besides, the only thing we ever talk about is music. Have I ever asked you to help me?”
“No.”
“And I’m not asking now. I’m asking you as my best friend, to come and listen to me play. Not as Elizabeth Parker, music mogul, but as Liz Parker, best friend. Come, sit drink, listen to some descent music.”
“All right. What should I wear?”
Maria looked though the clothes Liz brought with her. “Ugh! None of this. Let’s go to my apartment and I’ll let you borrow something that doesn’t make you look forty.”
Liz mocked offense. “They don’t make me look forty. I dress conservatively.”
Maria held up a blouse. “My grandmother has this in twelve different colors.”
“Fine. Do with me what you wish.”
Maria put her arm around her friend’s neck. “Babe, when I’m through with you, you’ll be a whole new you.”

Thanks for all your feedback. It is so great to be writing again. I'll try to answer all your questions soon.

Now on to...
Part 2
Liz looked at herself in the full length mirror on the back of Maria’s bathroom door. “I cannot wear this!” Never in her life had she shown so much skin unless she was at the beach.
“Please, you look totally hot. You’ll have men falling at your feet.” Maria assured her.
Looking at herself once again, she sighed. “Exactly what I don’t need right now.”
Maria plopped down on the couch facing her friend. “Okay, chica. Truth time. What are you really doing here?”
Liz wouldn’t look at Maria. “I just needed a vacation.”
“Bullshit! Come on Liz. I know you better than anyone. What’s going on?”
“You know my rule of never dating any artists on my label?”
Maria nodded. “You broke the rule?”
“Shattered it, actually. He’s not really that talented of a singer, but he’s an amazing performer. He really puts on a show and had a pretty loyal following. His sophomore CD’s gonna tank, but…”
“Liz! Focus!”
“Sorry. Anyway, ever heard of Marco Dylan?”
“Are you serious?”
Liz nodded. "I finally let my guard down. We started dating after a lunch meeting. He was completely charming.”
“And totally hot!” Maria added.
“Yeah, well, last week his sucky song hit number one and at the party that I threw for him, I discovered him fucking my now former assistant in the coat check room.”
“Ouch.”
Liz shook her head. “Tell me about it. I just needed to get out of L.A. I have a new assistant, a guy, who really has an ear for music. In fact, I’ve got him scouting bands in New York.”
Maria hugged her friend. “I’m so sorry, sweetie. But I promise that tonight will be nothing but mindless fun … with a little bit of good music on the side.”
“Just don’t try to hook me up, okay?”
“I promise.” Maria crossed her fingers behind her back.
Liz walked into the Little Green Man and sat at a secluded table at the back where the band would sit between sets. She hadn’t been to such an informal venue since her first internship. Places like these were the best places to find fresh, raw talent.
When the waitress approached her, she ordered a beer. She rarely drank, but when in Rome…
“Everyone give it up for Max, Alex and the Other X!” The owner of the club announced.
A spotlight shone on Maria as she clicked her drumsticks and counted. On four the stage lit up and the sound of a guitar strings being struck with a silver tipped pick filled the room.
Liz closed her eyes. Her hand began to shake. When the man playing the guitar began to sing, the hair on the back of her neck stood on end. “Damn.”
Maria bounced to the table. “We kicked ass up there!” She blotted her face with a towel.
Liz gave her a small smile. “Not bad.”
“Coming from you, I’ll take that. The guys should be over in a minute.”
She nodded. “I’m gonna go to the girl’s room.”
Maria stood up. “You can use the one backstage. It’s clean and it’s quiet. I’ll walk you back.”
Liz grabbed her purse and followed her. When she was left alone, she pulled out her phone. She dialed her New York apartment and let it ring forever before her assistant, Michael, answered.
“Do you know what fucking time it is?”
“Sorry Michael, but your boss needs you.”
“Oh shit. Liz, I didn’t…”
“Don’t worry about it. I need you to get to Roswell, New Mexico ASAP. There’s a band I want on our label and for personal reasons, I can’t do it myself. In fact, when you get here, you don’t know me. Call me when you arrive and I’ll fill you in.”
“You got it.”
Liz hung up. “This is so not a good idea.” She took a deep breath. “They deserve it.” She walked out of the restroom and right into the hard chest of one Max Evans. “Excuse me.”
“Maria sent me into to check on you.” He grinned down at her. “You can let go now.”
She had his shirt clutched in her hands. “Sorry. ... Liz.”
“Max.”
They shook hands.
“I like your sound.” She bit her bottom lip.
“Thanks. Let’s get you back out there before Maria sends out a search party.”
Liz nodded and followed him back into the club.
“What took you so long?” Maria inquired.
“I got a phone call while I was in there and decided to make use of the quiet.” Liz informed her.
Max sat across from her. He couldn’t help but stare.
Liz became self conscious. “What?”
Max blinked. “Sorry. You just look somewhat familiar and I can’t seem to place you.”
Maria smiled. “Her parents own the Crashdown. She’s Liz Parker.”
Max shook his head. “No she’s not. Liz Parker was a scrawny little mouse.”
“You could not possibly remember me. Besides, I wasn’t scrawny, just small for my age.”
Max shook his head. “No way. Prove it.”
“Prove it. What? You want to see my driver’s license?”
Once again, Max shook his head. “If you’re really Liz Parker, then you’ll let me see your neck.”
“My neck?”
He nodded. “For two years, Liz Parker sat in front of me in math class. On her neck behind her right ear, she had a mole or a freckle that was shaped like Mickey Mouse.”
Liz rolled her eyes. “It’s not there anymore. I had it removed last year.”
Max clicked his tongue. “Too bad. That’s the only proof I would have accepted.”
Liz laughed out loud. “Is he always this weird?” She asked Maria.
“Pretty much.”
Alex walked up to the table. “Five minutes, guys.” He looked at the pretty brunette. “Oh my God! Liz Parker? I can’t believe it. I haven’t seen you since your grandmother’s funeral.”
Liz looked at Max matter of factly. “See, I told you I am who I was.”
“Huh?” Alex was perplexed.
Max smiled at her and shrugged. Then he got up and headed for the stage.
“What was that about?” Alex watched Max walk away.
Maria twirled a drumstick. “Just Max being Max.”
Six o’clock the next morning, Liz’s phone began to ring.
“Hello, oh fearless leader. What are my orders?”
Liz smiled at the sound of Michaels voice.

Part 3
Part 3
Michael had his orders. He was to hang in the background of the next couple of shows and then approach them with an offer to cut a demo.
Walking into the bar was a bit of a shock. Seeing his conservative boss dressed in a tight tank top and short skirt was almost too much for him to handle. In the short time that he’d worked for her, she seemed older than her years. Looking at her now, she was a hot, sexy woman, clearly enjoying some seriously incredible music. She was dancing in her seat.
Liz’s instincts were dead on. This band had what it took and so much more. The name, however, needed work.
During the band’s break, Michael strolled up to the bar under the guise of refreshing his beer to listen to the chatter about the band. The guys were all hot for the drummer. He didn’t blame them. She was a little blond spitfire who could wail on the drums. The females were all ga-ga for the lead singer. The bass player was dating some chick named Isabel and all of the girls appeared to be afraid of her so left him alone.
Liz took a sip of her beer and nudged Maria. “Who’s got your attention?”
Maria pointed toward the bar where Michael was standing. “Yummy.”
Liz couldn’t stop the laugh that slipped from her mouth.
“What?”
Liz shook her head. “Nothing. He’s cute.”
“Cute? Hell, he’s a fucking god!”
“I am, aren’t I.” Max appeared beside the table and sat next to Liz, putting his large hiking boot clad foot on the table.
Once again, Liz was laughing. She’d been around self-assured musicians hundreds of times, but there was something different about Max Evans. On him it wasn’t cocky.
“Not you dummy.” Maria corrected him and pointed to the bar again. “Him.”
Max placed his hand over his heart. “I’m hurt.”
Liz’s smile grew bigger. She remembered Max Evans from elementary. He wasn’t much bigger than she was and really shy. Now? He was at least six foot, built and anything but shy.
She got up. “Excuse me. Potty break.” She quickly went back stage.
“Maria.”
“Yeah?”
“Little Lizzie Parker makes me tingle.”
Maria smiled. “Good to know.”
Michael’s phone began to ring. When he saw who it was, he looked around the bar. “Where’d you go?”
“Change of plans. Maria’s got the hots for you. Go chat her up. Ask to meet her after their final set.”
“But she won’t…”
“Trust me, she’ll go. When you get in your car, tell her who you are and that you work for me. Then have her call me. After that, I’ll meet you both at your hotel. Maria will talk your ear off. Just put up with it until I get there.”
“Got it.” The line went dead. Michael watched Liz exit the stage area and head back to the table. “Chat her up?” He shrugged and headed over to the back table.
Liz and the blond were giggling about something when he approached.
“Nice set.”
Maria looked up to see the god that she was talking about standing beside her. She swallowed and collected her thoughts. “Thanks.”
“Michael Guerin.” He held his hand out to her.
Maria took it. “Maria DeLuca.” She couldn’t say anything. Guys just didn’t approach her. She always seemed to intimidate them.
“Back to work guys.” Alex interrupted.
“Fuck no!” Maria blurted out and covered her hand with her mouth.
Michael smiled. “Meet me after the show?”
She nodded. “Sure. … You can sit here with my friend, Liz. She won’t mind. Will you Liz?”
“Not at all.” Liz looked to Max who was still sitting beside her. “Don’t you have something that you need to do right now?”
The grin that Max gave Liz could have melted butter. He slowly lowered his foot from the table, winked at her and headed to the stage.
Maria waved at Michael and nearly tripped over a chair. She giggled and ran up to the stage.
“May I be blunt boss?” Michael said barely moving his lip.
“I wouldn’t expect anything less of you?” She said taking a swig of her beer.
“You’re in deep shit.”
She sighed as her gaze found the gorgeous front man. “Tell me about it. Just don’t fuck him. Okay?”
Michael laughed. “You can trust me on that one. Now the drummer…”
After the show, everything went down as Liz had hoped it would. She drove Maria’s car to the Tumbleweed and walked over to room 136. Before she could knock, the door flew open and she was tugged into the room.
“I don’t know if I should hug you or hit you.” Maria said in her dramatic Maria fashion.
“This is serious Maria. Alex and Max cannot find out who I am.”
“Why not?” The blond threw her hands in the air. “Eventually it’s gonna come out.”
Liz turned to Michael. “I need to talk to Maria privately for a few minutes.”
Michael nodded and left the room.
Maria flopped down on the bed. “Talk to me Lizzie.”
Tears strung her eyes. “I’m starting to like Max … a lot. I want to get to know him. I want him to like me for me.”
“Isn’t that breaking your number one rule … again?”
Liz shook her head. “Marco knew who I was and what I could do for him from the beginning of our so called relationship. At least this way, whether it works out or not, I won’t get used.”
Maria sat for a couple of minutes contemplating everything that she learned this evening. “I’ll go along with it. But there’s something that I have to know first.” She stood and hugged her best friend.”
“Anything.” Liz stepped back, sniffed and wiped her eyes.
“Do you think Michael really wants me or is that all part of the scam as well?”
Liz laughed and hugged Maria again. “I love you, Maria.”
She giggled. “I know you do. Now, about Michael.”

Part 4
Max was awakened by the incessant banging on his front door. He grabbed his glasses from his bedside table (two milk crates stacked on top of each other) and put them on so he could somewhat focus on the bright red numbers of his alarm clock. 7:23. He grumbled as he got out of bed and headed to the door to let the annoying person on the other side know what happened to people who bang on his door this early in the morning.
When he opened the door, he found Maria smiling and handing him a box of donuts and coffee.
Redemption.
“Thanks. What are you doing here this early?”
“I have so much to tell you about Michael.” She brushed past him and sat on his ratty couch.
He shook his head. “Maria, I really don’t want to hear about what you did last night.”
Maria put her feet underneath her and began to bounce. “Trust me. You want to.”
Max blew out a deep breath and sat next to her and started eating a donut.
“Michael Guerin is not just a gorgeous, sexy man. He just happens to work for Destiny Records. His boss heard about our little band and sent him here to listen to us and offer us a demo deal.”
Max almost choked on his donut. “Yeah, right. Did he tell you this before or after you fucked him?”
Maria hit him hard on the shoulder. “I didn’t sleep with him you asshole! Not that I wouldn’t have cuz, well, you should see the size of his shoes. Yum. But that has nothing to do with the fact that this guy is legit. Max, were on our way.”
Max was stunned. If what Maria was saying was true… “We gotta call Alex.”
“I did. Your sister answered and said words that I didn’t even know existed.”
Max chuckled. “Yeah. Izzy’s not exactly a morning person.”
Maria giggled. “Must be a family trait.”
Max called Michael at the Tumbleweed and set up a meeting with him and the band for lunch at Senor Chow. He’d also arranged for them to have a private room at the restaurant so that they wouldn’t be disturbed.
When he walked in, he was a little surprised to see Liz sitting at the table.
He smiled at her. “I don’t mean for this to sound at all rude, but what are you doing here?”
“I asked her to come.” Maria told him. “She has a degree in business.”
‘Ah, something in common.’ Max thought. “So do I.”
“She graduated Summa Cum Laude.” Maria added.
“So did I.” Max couldn’t help but smile.
“She has an MBA from Harvard and has a background in Music Management.”
Max nodded. “Got me there.”
“Don’t worry, Max. I’m just gonna sit and listen. I’m sure that you can handle everything, but I’ve seen music label try to screw artists.”
“I appreciate it. Maria never told us you have a background in music.” Max sat next to her.
“Music’s always been a passion of mine. I interned at a small label when I was doing my undergrad.”
Max was about to ask her what she did now when Michael entered the room.
Liz had completely scripted Michael’s part in this scenario
Max was looking over the papers when his sister entered the room. “What are you doing here?”
“Alex told me about the meeting. I thought you might need a lawyer.”
“You’re a law student Iz. Not a lawyer.”
She rolled her eyes at her brother. “What I don’t understand, Daddy will.”
“I don’t want Dad involved with this. Besides, Liz is representing us.” He pointed to the brunette. “She’s our new manager.”
Isabel glared at Liz. “Well, I guess I’m not needed then.” She turned on her heal and walked out.
Alex shook his head. “I’d better go do damage control.” He followed the tall blond out of the restaurant.
“Max…” Liz started.
Max grinned. “Sorry about that. I just had to get rid of her. She has a tendency to try to run my life.”
Liz sighed. “You kind of freaked me out there for a minute.” She stood up. “Excuse me. I’m gonna run to the restroom.”
Michael stood as she left the room. Not thirty seconds later, his phone rang.
“Make the offer. I don’t trust Isabel.”
“Yes ma’am. I’m just about to make the offer.” He gave Max a thumbs up. “I understand. … Yes ma’am. … Yes ma’am.” He closed his phone and opened his briefcase pulling out a preliminary contract. “This is the contract that our legal department faxed to me last night. I want you to read it over carefully.” He handed it to Max.
Liz walked back into the room and sat next to Max.
Michael looked at her and continued. “The general breakdown goes like this. There’s a studio in Albuquerque that we’ve reserved Wednesday through Saturday. You agree to make the demo. We agree to pay for it.”
“What’s the catch?” Liz asked. “Sorry. It just sounds too good to be true.”
“I agree.” Maria piped up.
“No catch. I know a lot of bands with a lot less talent who are selling out venues all over the country. Your band kicks ass. It is beneficial to our label that we accommodate you in whatever way we can to ultimately get you on our label.”
Max looked at Maria. Maria nodded. “We’ll talk to Alex.” He told Michael. “You’ll have your answer tonight.” He shook Michael’s hand.
“Good.” Maria sighed. “Now can we please eat? I’m starved.”
Liz and Maria were over at Max’s waiting for Alex to show up.
“I’m bored.” Maria announced. “I’m gonna go to the Crash and get a sundae. You want anything?”
Max shook his head. “I’m good.”
“Liz? Wanna come with?”
“Mom’s there. I’ll just stay here.” She looked to Max. “If that’s okay with you?”
“Whatever.” He said in that cool sexy tone he seemed to have around Liz.
“Okay, well, call me when Alex shows.” Maria left.
Liz looked around the apartment. “Nice décor.”
“Yeah. It is pretty shitty, huh?”
“No, I didn’t mean…”
Before she could finish the sentence, she was in Max’s arms and he was kissing her.

Part 5
That kiss had thrown Liz for a loop. Unfortunately, Alex had shown up and it ended as quickly as it had begun. That was three days ago.
Everyone took a week off from work and headed to Albuquerque in a limo provided by Destiny. Everyone but Liz. She couldn’t risk being found out just yet. Especially after that kiss.
So instead of being in Albuquerque, she was in Roswell trying to avoid her mother. Easier said than done. Nancy Parker seemed to be deliberately trying to get on her daughter’s good side.
Liz was trying to get some work done when a knock came from her bedroom door. “Hold on.” She told her secretary. “Come in.”
Nancy entered the room.
“Crap.” She said under her breath. “David I’ll call you back.” She disconnected the phone. “What do you need Mom?”
Nancy put on her sweetest smile. “I thought that you would like to go shopping with me today since all of your friends are gone.”
“No thanks.” Liz’s voice was deadpan.
Nancy shook her head. “Bethie…”
“Don’t call me that.”
“Sweetheart, please.”
“No. I’ve got work to do.” She sat at the desk and started tying on her laptop.”
Nancy bowed her head. “Are you ever going to forgive me for not standing up to your grandmother?”
She grabbed her phone and hit a button. “David, it’s Liz. I need an update.”
Her mother left the room.
Liz set her phone down and put her face in her hands. Nancy was the reason that Liz never came home to visit. She remembered being eleven, two thousand miles from everyone and everything she’d ever known and calling home begging her mom to let her come home. Nancy would just say that her grandmother said that being at boarding was what was best for her and they’d see her over the holidays.
Liz did eventually love boarding school. But her resentment was always focused toward her mother. At twenty-four, she should be able to get past it, but sometimes, childhood hurts just don’t go away.
That night, Liz listened to the tracks that Michael sent her. When she heard Max’s voice, she shivered. Memories of the kiss flooded her mind. He was a man who definitely had lots of practice kissing unless that was a god given talent as well.
She shook her head. “Focus, Parker.”
Her cell phone rang. Looking at the caller ID, she answered. “Track sounds great.”
“What?”
‘Oh shit! Cover your ass! Cover you ass!’ “Whatever. You just wish you could carry a tune. … Hello?”
“I think I can.” Max’s voice chuckled over the phone.
She sighed away from the phone. “Who is this?”
“I’m hurt. I’m gone a couple of days and she forgets me already. I’m gonna have to start those lip exercises again.”
She bit her lip and blushed. “Hi Max.”
“Ah, so she does remember me.”
“I thought you didn’t own a cell phone?”
“I borrowed Michael’s. I wanted to hear your sexy voice.”
She smiled. “How’s recording going?”
“Unfuckingbelievable.”
“Cool. So was there anything in particular you wanted to talk about?”
“What are you wearing?”
Liz laughed.
“I’m serious. I’m imagining a black lace bra and thong with a little red bow on both.”
“Close. Scooby pajama pants and gray sweatshirt.”
“Damn. There goes that fantasy.”
Liz heard someone call him in the background.
“I gotta go. Work on the bra and thong thing for me.”
The phone disconnected.
Liz’s entire body seemed to be on fire.
Liz was sitting at the counter in the Crashdown eating her lunch when Isabel Evans sat beside her.
“We need to talk.”
Liz took a sip of her drink and swallowed. “About?”
“This little pipedream of my brothers. Who do you think you are coming her after all of these years… Wait a minute. As the manager of their little band, I thought you’d be with them in Albuquerque.”
“I’m not their manager, Isabel. Max just said that to get rid of you. Now I know why.”
Isabel flipped her long blond hair. “Excuse me?”
“Music isn’t a game for Max. Have you ever seen him perform?”
“Of course I have. Don’t be stupid.”
“Then you should realize that music is his passion. It’s in his blood.”
“That’s ridiculous. What’s going to happen when Alex quits? He has a promising career with his company. Max will eventually grow up and realize that he really has no future in the music industry.”
Liz shook her head. “It’s funny that I’ve been back in town for about a week and I know Max better than you do. And what makes you so sure that Alex is gonna quit? Do you know him at all?”
“Alex will do whatever I want him to do.” Isabel stood up. “I suggest you stay away from Max. My family knows a lot of influential people and we can make you life a living hell.”
Liz stood up in front of Isabel. Okay, with the height difference she didn’t look very intimidating, but she was pissed. “I’m scared.” She decided to turn and walk away at that moment. If she hadn’t, she might have let it slip about who she really was and that would surely ruin her plans. … Whatever they were.
Later that night, Liz had just stepped out of the shower when her phone rang.
“Hello?”
Maria’s voice quickly shrieked something through the phone.
“Okay, let’s try that in Earthling this time.”
“Funny, Liz. I said that Isabel called Alex and demanded that he quit the band. Alex refused and said that he was quitting his job and devoting himself to music full time. She blew a gasket and gave him an ultimatum, her or music. He picked music.”
Liz bit her lip trying not to laugh. “That’d be might fault. She and I had a lovely little chat earlier today. She has some diluted notion that this music thing is just a phase for you guys. She got a little pissy with me when I disagreed.”
“Well… Hey!”
“So, what are you wearing now?” Max’s voice was almost raspy.
Liz looked down at her naked body and smiled.

Part 6
Max sat inside the limo almost bouncing with anticipation. He couldn’t wait to get into his dingy apartment, call Liz and finish their discussion from the other night. He could have sworn that her answer to his question was nothing, but Maria had snatched the phone from him so quickly, that he was left with nothing but his imagination to last him through the night. And oh what an imagination he had.
The car stopped outside his building bringing him out of his revelry. He was now a man on a mission. The driver handed him his duffle and Max ran into his building. He unlocked his door, entered the dimly lit room and before he could put his stuff down, he noticed a thin red ribbon on the floor leading to his bed. A slight smile played on his lips as he followed the ribbon. On his bed was Liz. She was stretched out seductively wearing a black lace bra and thong with tiny red ribbons on both.
“My, my, my. Someone’s been sleeping in my bed and here she is.”
Liz sat up slowly. “But unlike Goldilocks, I’m not going anywhere. Like what I’m wearing now?”
“I’m more interested in what lies beneath.” Max took his leather jacket off followed by his green t-shirt and jeans leaving him in a pair of plaid boxers.
Lunging herself from the bed, Liz landed in his arms and wrapped her legs around his waist. Her mouth immediately locked with his.
“This is so much better than any fantasy.” He carried her over to his bed.
“You ain’t seen nothing yet.” She stripped out of her bra and panties and pushed him down on his back. Straddling him she sank onto his manhood with a hiss.
“Oh God!” Max bent his knees.
Liz leaned back, inserting him deeper, touching her deeper. Her body involuntarily began writhing, causing the friction between their bodies. Max’s hands sent electricity through her as he gently moved his hands over her thighs. She threw her head back as her first orgasm hit.
As her body fell forward, Max flipped her over. “My turn.”
Their bodies moved in a fevered rhythm satisfying their needs, their wants and their desires. Their bodies were a perfect fit. The dance they performed was powerful and heated and when it ended there was an explosion of white light.
Max awoke a few hours later. Liz was snuggled next to him. She looked so young, so beautiful. At that very minute, he realized that he had everything he’d ever wanted.
Liz was in seventh heaven as well. She was no virgin, but never had she been completely satiated. Her body was still humming. But as wonderful as she felt, she knew that she’d have to go back to her real world. The demo was finished. She needed to head back to LA and make Max a superstar.
The next morning, Liz was in the shower when her phone started to ring. Max answered it.
“Liz Parker’s phone.”
“Is Miss Parker available?” The deep male voice inquired.
“Not at the moment. May I take a message?”
There was a sigh. “I suppose. This is David, her personal secretary. Please tell her that the demos have arrived and are awaiting her expertise.”
Max’s heart was pounding in his ears. “I’m sorry we must have a bad connection. Who are you with?”
Another sigh came across the phone. “My name is David Addison.” He spoke slowly as if Max were mentally challenged. “I am Miss Parker’s personal secretary at Destiny Records. The demo has arrived and waiting for her to listen. Do you have that?”
Max swallowed the huge lump that was in his throat. “Yeah. Yeah, I got it. What exactly is Liz’s position at Destiny?”
David chuckled. “She’s the queen bee, doll.”
Max closed the phone and placed it back in Liz’s purse.
Liz didn’t emerge from the bathroom for ten more minutes. When she did, she found Max sitting on the tattered couch, smoking a cigarette.
“Normally, smoking turns me off, but you look so damn sexy.” She sat on his lap and attacked his mouth.
Max stabbed out his cigarette and kissed her forcefully. A little too forcefully.
“Ouch! You bit my lip.”
“Sorry. So, Liz, you never told me what you do for a living.”
Liz felt somewhat blindsided. “Where did that come from?”
Max shrugged as he lit another cigarette. “Just a little morning after conversation. By the way, David, your personal secretary at Destiny Records called and said that the demo has arrived and awaits you expertise.”
Liz turned ghostly white.
“Do you happen to know what demo he would be talking about?”
“Max, I…”
“David said that you’re the queen bee around there. What exactly is your title, Liz?”
Liz couldn’t look at him. “I’m the, uh, the President and CEO.”
Max took a deep drag off his cigarette and blew it our quickly. “So Michael’s your lackey?”
“He’s my assistant. I send him out to scope new talent. When I heard you that first night, I called him. Max, look, I never meant to deceive you. I just wanted you to want me for me, not for what I could do for you.”
He threw his cigarette on the floor and stomped it out. He ran both hands through his hair. “I just can’t get my head around the fact that you lied to me!” The last four words were screamed.
Liz stood and tried to put her arms around him. “Max, please. Please. I never actually lied to you. I said I had a background in music management. Max, please. I lo… I love you.”
Max pushed her away. “I don’t even know you.” He moved to the door and opened it. “Good bye Liz.”
She shook her head. “No, Max.”
He grabbed her forcefully by the arm and shoved her out the door. “Get out!” He slammed the door behind her. Realizing her purse was still on the couch, he grabbed it opened the door and tossed it at her.
“Max, the demo, the deal, it’s real. Don’t let my stupidity ruin your chance.”
He slammed the door once more. Dropping to his knees, he began to sob.

Part 7
It had been three days since Max had found out the truth about Liz. He’d been locked away from everyone. Not answering the phone. Not answering the door. He was in too much pain.
Deep, deep in his heart, he knew Liz meant no malice by her actions. He knew there had to be a reason for her deception. In fact, she’d mentioned it. She wanted him to want her for her, not for what she could do for him.
He still couldn’t get over the pain. Not so much caused by Liz, but by Tess. He remembered it like it was yesterday…
He and Alex were playing at a frat house party his freshman year at UNM. During one of their breaks, he saw a small blond being harassed by some jock. Max intervened. From that instant, Tess consumed his world. For two years, he went to school, played his music and spent every minute possible with Tess. It wasn’t long before music was putting a backseat to her.
“What a waste of time.” He said as he blew smoke out his mouth. The memory of how it all ended flashed in his mind.
His junior year. He bought the ring. He made the reservation. He unlocked her apartment door. He found the woman he was planning on spending the rest of his life with fucking the jock that had been harassing her at the frat party on the coffee table.
Truth was she’d never stopped dating him. Tess had been a friend of Isabel’s and had been paid a hefty sum by his father to distract him from his ‘frivolous’ musical dreams.
That was the moment that Max had decided to live for him. Not take shit from anyone. Not put his heart on the line again. And then Liz showed up.
Liz Parker had been his dream girl since the third grade. She disappeared from his life two years later but he’d always kept her memory close to his heart. Then, Liz Parker, the woman, re-entered his life and she wanted him. The insecure little boy was about to resurface when the sarcastic man he’d become took over. He wanted her. He got her. She lied… No, not lied, she deceived him.
A knock… A loud sonic boom came from his apartment door. He attempted to ignore it. That was until…
“Damn it Max! Open the door!” Maria bellowed.
“Fucking nails on a chalkboard.” He took a drag off his cigarette.
“I swear to God Max, I'll break this fucking door down if you don’t let me in now!
Taking one last drag off of his cigarette, he mashed it out and got up to answer the door. When he did, Maria ran into him with her shoulder with all her might, knocking Max on his ass.
She fell on top of him. “Ow.”
For the first time in days, Max laughed. “Did you actually think that you could break down my door?”
She struggled to get up. “We’ll never know now, will we?”
When Max got to his feet, Maria cold cocked him in the jaw. “That’s for breaking my best friend’s heart?”
Max popped his jaw a couple of times and rubbed it. “Broke her heart? Yeah right.” He shook his head. “You knew who she was, Maria. You knew the entire time and you let me make a fool out of myself.”
She put her hands on his hips. “That’s a load of crap and you know it. Yes, I know what my best friend does for a living. I could have asked her to help us out, but I wouldn’t have been a very good friend doing that, would I? She showed up out of the blue because … well, just because and I ask her to come to the club just to relax and clear her head.” She stormed over to fridge. “Don’t you have anything but beer in here?” She huffed. “Liz started at Destiny a few years ago and it was a nothing little company. She has single handedly brought it out of obscurity and it’s now a major label. If she didn’t think we had something special, she never would have called Michael.”
“So that gives her the right to fuck with my life?”
Maria flopped down on the couch. “The demo deal is legit. Michael called me this morning and said that we need to find a lawyer because their legal department is ready to hammer out a contract. This is our chance, Max. I know what Liz and I did was wrong. We should have been upfront from the beginning about who she is, but let’s not let that blow this. Please Max.”
Max thought about it for a couple of minutes. “Okay. But I have one condition.”
“He wants to have nothing to do with you personally. He doesn’t want to see you or have to deal with you.”
Liz felt like a knife had been shoved into her chest. Tears stung her eyes as she nodded. “I can arrange that. From now on, all communications with Max Evans will be done through you.” She told Michael. “Call David. Have him send the jet to pick me up. I want to leave tonight. You stay here for a few more days. Get to know Maria. I think you’ll like her.” She closed her phone.
Wiping her eyes, she took a deep breath and began packing.
“Are you leaving so soon?” Nancy asked from the doorway.
“I have a company to run, Mother. People depend on me to be there for them.” She told her without stopping her task.
Nancy was about to say something when Liz’s phone rang.
“Yes, David … Fine … Send a car … No, I’ll be in the office in the morning. Just call legal and have Joel call Michael … Michael will fill him in.”
Liz watched her mother leave the doorway. “Just do as I say David. I need out of this damn town.”
Several weeks later, Liz was sitting in the conference room conducting her weekly meeting.
“Michael. Update on the Roswell group.”
Michael sat twirling his pen. “Negotiations went smoothly. We’re still working on a name that they all can agree on, but they’ll be in studio next week.”
“Fine. Make sure that all of the arrangements are made. Put them up in our suites at the Beverly. This group is about to make us a lot of money. Let’s pull out all the stops.” She closed her leather folder and stood. “Any other business?”
The room remained silent.
“Meeting adjourned. Michael, join me in my office.”
She left through her private entrance to her office. Five minutes later, David led in Michael.
“Have a seat, Michael. That will be all, David. We are not to be disturbed.”
“Yes, Miss Parker.” David left the office.
Liz sat behind her large mahogany desk in her lush leather chair. “How’s Maria?”
Michael grinned. “Flighty, annoying and a fanfuckingtastic drummer.”
“And…”
Michael’s face seemed to turn pink as he gave her a mischievous smile. “She is definitely a force to be reckoned with that’s for damn sure. And her mother…”
“Is exactly like Maria. Have Alex and Isabel worked things out?”
Michael shook his head. “She’s dating an associate at her father’s firm. But don’t worry about Alex. He’s got girls throwing themselves at him.”
She nodded and then, Liz grew quiet. “How is he?”
Michael leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. “He’s been quiet. His actions are almost robotic. Maria said that he gets up, goes to work at the UFO Museum, goes wherever they’re playing, does his sets, goes home and starts all over again.”
“Why is he still working at the Museum? The advance was more than enough to…”
“He doesn’t want to leave that Milton guy in the lurch. At least we can be assured that he has a good work ethic.”
Liz’s head began to pound. “I’m sorry I got you involved in my personal life.”
“I’m not. I’m about to get a huge pay raise. Plus, Maria’s… I owe you big for introducing me into her whirlwind of a world. I’m expecting it to be quite a ride.”
Liz rubbed her temples.
“You okay?”
Liz waved off his concern. “Just a headache. I’ve been working ‘round the clock. One of the ‘artists’ that Danya brought aboard is refusing to record his second album. I’ve got legal on it.”
“Anything I can do?”
She shook her head. “No, I’ve got it all under control.” As she stood up, her balance faltered and she ended up back in her chair.
“Are you sure you’re okay?”
She blew out a deep breath. “I guess I am a little run down.” She pushed the button to buzz David.
“Yes, Miss Parker?”
“David, make me an appointment with Dr. Johnston. I want a complete physical.”
“Yes Ms. Parker.”

Part 8
Let me start off by saying that none of your feedback has ever offended me. It really is what keeps me going. I just get a bit overwhelmed at times that you all seem as invested in this story as I am. It's quite humbling.

Part 8
Maria walked into Liz’s office unannounced. “You are the absolute best of best friends.”
Liz rose from her leather couch and hugged her. “How in the hell did you get past David?”
“He got … distracted by a certain long-haired musician we know and you still love.”
Liz sat back down on her couch and rubbed her head.
“Hey, are you okay?” Maria sat next to her. “Michael said that you went to the doctor. You’re not…”
Liz shook her head. “No Maria. I’m not. It’s just stress. The doctor said that I need to get rest, eat right and stop getting involved with future clients.”
“Your doctor said that?”
“No, that would be the voices in my head. I’m so stupid Maria. I used you. I used Michael. And Max…” Tears slipped down her cheeks. “I remember his first day at school when we were in the third grade. His hair was cut real short and his cute little ears stuck out. He was so cute.”
“I know for a fact he had a crush on you.”
Liz rubbed her temples and sighed. “That was a long time ago, Maria.” She pressed David’s call button and received no response. “Damn it!” She dialed Michael’s direct extension. “Michael, tell my secretary that he has exactly thirty seconds to get into my office.”
Twenty-five seconds later, David walked into the room.
“So sorry Miss Parker. I was just…”
“No excuses, David! Bring me something for my headache and leave the talent alone!”
“Yes, Miss Parker.”
“I swear if he wasn’t the best fucking secretary I’d ever had, I’d fire him.”
He reentered the office. “Miss Parker, Mr. Guerin wishes to speak with you.”
“Send him in.” She turned to the fridge and grabbed a bottle of water out of it to take the pills.
“Liz, I’ll be back in a minute.” Maria excused herself.
She heard the door close and footsteps behind her. “What do you need, Michael?”
He said nothing so she turned around.
“Max.”
He stood before her looking somewhat different. In a good way. His arms and chest we more muscular and his neck was a bit thicker.
He cleared his throat. “I … want… I need to apologize for throwing you out of my apartment. I could have injured you and for that, I’m sorry.”
Liz’s heart began pounding. “I am so sorry I deceived you. I never should have…”
Max held his hand up to stop her. “Michael was telling me that it will be nearly impossible for me not to interact with you so I just wanted you to know that we don’t have to avoid each other.”
“Max, please. What happened between us…”
“Was a mistake.” He finished.
“No, Max. It wasn’t.”
“Let me ask you something, Liz. Why me?”
Liz licked her lips. “In the fourth grade Sean DeLuca was picking on me and pulling my hair. You made him stop and got a bloody nose in the process.”
“So you gave my band a music deal and fucked me out of some kind of delayed gratitude?”
“No, Max. Destiny gave you the deal, because you deserve it. You are the best group I’ve heard … in a long time. Your sound is pure, your lyrics are poetry.” She bit her lip again. “I made love with you because it’s what we both wanted.” She wished the headache pills would take effect. “God, Max. Cards on the table. I got burned by dating one of my artists. I caught him fucking Michael’s female predecessor. That’s what I was doing in Roswell. I needed to go where only three people knew what I did for a living. I know you’re probably pissed at Maria, but you see, part of the reason that she and I have remained friends is because she is loyal to a fault. She knew that I needed to just be Liz Parker instead of Elizabeth Parker, ‘the dream maker’.” She made air quotes. “At least that’s what Rolling Stone called me. I knew you’d be upset with me. I didn’t think you flip out as bad as you did…”
His index finger covered her mouth. “Her name was Tess…”
Maria was wailing on her drums. Her long blond hair was damp with sweat and her already tight tank was molded to her body.
Michael was awestruck at how sexy she looked … and how talented she was. When she ended, he, Alex and one of the sound engineers applauded.
She held up her right arm, twirled the stick in it and pointed it in the air. “Thank you L.A.!” She banged the cymbal. “This place is so freaking awesome. It makes the studio in Albuquerque look like a basement.”
Michael rubbed his hand over his mouth. A movement meant to calm him. “Destiny moved into this building about a year ago. Liz had it completely renovated and all of the recording studios are state of the art.” He noticed the look on Maria’s face. She knew he’d only been with the company about a week when they met. “I did my homework. I’ve wanted to work with Liz since I graduated from UCLA. She has a gift, an ear for … hell, I don’t even know what to call it. If you get the nod from her, you’re first album will skyrocket. What you do after that, determines the rest of your career. If you keep your head on straight, don’t go ‘Hollywood crazy’, listen to Liz, you’ll have a great ride.”
Alex smiled. “I might have to go a little crazy. Shoving it in Isabel’s face will feel pretty damn good.”
Maria laughed and began drumming again. Alex grabbed his bass and began to jam.
Michael motioned for the engineer to start recording and flipped the camera switch to film them as they played. He knew once they hit it big, people would pay big money for any bit of footage they could get. Something like this would make a bonus track on a CD/DVD worth a lot to collectors. It would also cement his position within this company. Vice Presidency, here he comes.
He continued to watch Maria’s body move with the rhythm of her drums. He had huge plans for her as well.
“That’s completely fucked up.” Liz tried to get her head around what Max had revealed about Tess and his family. “No wonder we both have trust issues.”
Max took out a cigarette and lit it.
Liz opened the drawer of the table next to the couch and pulled out a smokeless ashtray.
“I can put this out if you want.”
She shook her head. “Don’t worry about it.” Liz nervously rubbed her hands together. “What are we going to do Max? As hard as I’ve tried, I can’t get you out of my head … or my heart. I don’t want to. I’m not Tess and you’re not Marco.”
Max took a deep drag off his cigarette and blew it out slowly. “We can’t go back.”
“Oh.” Liz deflated.
Max looked at her with his soulful eyes. “We can, however, start over.” He stubbed out his cigarette, rubbed his hand on his wear worn jeans and held it out to her. “Max Evans, wannabe rock star.”
Tears stung her eyes as she grasped his hand. “Elizabeth Parker, dream maker.”

Part 9
Liz sat at her desk doodling. She’d never doodled in her life. When Max said that he wanted to start over, she hadn’t realized that it would be at a snails pace.
Okay, so technically he’d been down in the studio recording and she’d been dealing with Danya’s no show artist.
“Danya, I’m telling you for the last time. If their client isn’t in my studio by the end of the week, which I think is pretty damn generous, Joel and his team are ready. We’ll drop him so fast that he’ll be lucky to get a cartoon character part at Disneyland.”
“But Liz…”
“No!” Liz threw her pen down in her desk and stood up. “Danya, your job is to maintain the artist that you bring in. I warned you against him, but you guaranteed me that he had potential and just needed guidance. Hand holding time is over! If you can’t get your artist in studio, then perhaps we should rethink you position at Destiny.”
The young woman gulped.
Liz sat back down and reclaimed her pen. “I suggest you get to your office and do what you’re paid to do.”
Danya nodded and left.
Liz buzzed David.
“Yes, Miss Parker?”
“David, have Michael come to my office when the Roswell group is done for the day.”
“Yes, Miss Parker.”
She continued doodling.
By the time they called it quits for the day, the band was nearly exhausted. They’d spent the entire day laying down the instrument tracks.
Oddly, out of the three musicians, Maria was close to bouncing off the walls. “Let’s go out tonight. I bet Lizzie can get us in somewhere cool.”
Max shook his head. “Count me out. I’m recording vocals tomorrow. Plus, Liz and I are having dinner tonight at the hotel.”
Maria smiled. “You’re excused. Alex?”
“Can’t. Got a date.”
“Already?” She pouted. “You guys are no fun.”
Michael entered the studio.
“My savior.” She jumped up latching her arms around his neck.
He smiled as he lowered her to her feet. “What do want?”
She gave him her best puppy dog eyes. “You’re taking me out tonight. I wanna dance.”
He scratched his left eyebrow. “I do believe that I can arrange that. I’ve gotta meet with Liz first, but I’m good to go after that.”
Maria squealed as she wrapped her arms around his neck. “Thank you, thank you, thank you!” She kissed his dead on the lips. “I’ll go back to the hotel, shower and get ready. Meet me…”
“In about five hours.” Alex ducked Maria’s swing.
Michael laughed. “Tell you what. I’ll pick you up at eight. We’ll have dinner and then we’ll go to a new club that a buddy of mine runs.”
“You’re the best, Michael!” She kissed him again and bounced out of the studio.
Max chuckled. “You’ve been Maria’d.”
“What does that mean?”
Alex put his arm around his shoulder. “Michael, my man, Maria let me tell you about the inner workings of the mind of Maria DeLuca.”
Liz was going over a few specs for future projects when there was a knock on her office door. She looked up as Michael entered.
“David wasn’t at his desk.”
She looked at the clock on her desk. 5:37. “Yeah. He’s a stickler about leaving at exactly 5:17. He’s a bit anal about it.”
“So what’d you need to see me about?”
Liz pointed to the chairs in front of her desk and Michael sat down. “It’s Danya. Her pretty boy artist is still a no show in the studio. I know you have a full boat right now, but I need you to be ready if she drops the ball on this one.”
“Not a problem. I suppose you already have Joel ready to go on this one?”
She nodded. “I just hope it doesn’t come to that.” She closed the file that she’d been reading and ran her hands through her hair. She sighed. “How’d recording go today?”
“Great. They nailed it. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a group that didn’t have to have some kind of remixing.”
“This group is definitely special.” She smiled. “Speaking of Maria…”
Michael grinned. “I wasn’t aware that we were.”
“She said that you were taking her to a club tonight?”
He nodded. “The Tomb.”
“Does she know it’s a strip club?”
“Adult themed entertainment club. It caters to both men and women.”
Liz shook her head. “One of two things will happen.”
“What?”
“She’ll walk into the club, figure out what kind of establishment it is and beat the hell out of you…”
“Or?”
She laughed. “If you don’t show up for work tomorrow and she doesn’t show up to record vocals, I’ll understand.”
Michael full out smiled. “I’ll take door number two.”
Liz looked at her clock again. “You gotta get out of here. I’ve got to change and meet Max.”
Michael stood up. “If you don’t show up tomorrow and Max doesn’t show up to record vocals, I’ll understand.”
“You can leave now.” She laughed.
Thirty minutes later, Liz walked out of her private bathroom to find Max stretched out on her couch … asleep.
She quietly walked over to him, fighting the temptation to crawl on top of him and molest his body.
Liz walked over to her door and locked it. “What the hell.” She slipped off her shoes and hiked up her skirt. Licking her lips, she straddled him.
Max’s eyes shot open. “What the…” He put his hands on her thighs. “My, my, my. What do we have here?”
Without a word, Liz leaned forward and kissed him.
Max’s hands moved lower to find Liz’s bare ass. He pulled her mouth from hers. “Get me out of these pants.”
Liz scooted down his body and released him from his confines. Without hesitation, she licked his head making him hiss with desire. Then she took him in her mouth.
“Oh God.” He moaned as she licked and sucked and gently scraped her teeth over the smooth steal-like skin.
Liz stopped and scooted back up his body, hovering over his rock hard phallus. Once again, she licked her lips and sank onto his cock with a moan.
Max decided to change positions. He sat up and wrapped her around him. Somehow, he stood without dislodging her and carried her over to her desk. He placed her feet on his shoulders and pounded into her.
“Fuck … Max!” Her voice was unsteady. “Oh fuck! Harder!”
He obliged.
“Pinch you clit!” Max commanded.
When she did, her body began to writhe uncontrollably. “Oh fuck! Of fuck! Max!”
Her vaginal walls became like a vice, gripping his penis and adding in his desire to explode within her. With a final guttural moan, he did.
Liz lay atop her desk, breathless as Max pumped involuntarily in her, emptying into her completely.
“Wow.” She sighed.
Max pushed his sweaty hair behind his ears and grinned. “Now that’s what I call a start.”

Part 10
First, a general thank you for all who left feedback. Normally I list all of you, unfortunately I'm in a bit of a hurry. I promise to catch you next part.
Second, I want to thank my wonderful beta Michelle. You see things within my work that I never would have thought about. Thanks for the awesome suggestions.

Now on with the show...
Part 10
Maria smiled as Michael drove to their next destination. All he would tell her that it was a club like no other she’d ever been to in her life. Considering she’d spent her entire life in Roswell, New Mexico, she knew no matter what the place was, that was true.
They pulled in front of The Tomb and Maria’s door was opened by a valet. Michael came around the car and escorted her to the door where the doorman greeted him by name.
Walking into the club was like walking into a different world. At first, Maria was confused. Then she was intrigued. “Come here often?”
Michael grinned at her. “My buddy runs it. Belongs to his brother-in-law. If you’re not comfortable here, we can leave.”
Maria watched a nearly naked man walk past her. Aladdin, porno style. “I’m good.”
He chuckled. “Come on. We’re in the VIP lounge.”
She nodded and took in the sights as he led her up the private staircase.
Liz sat naked in Max’s bed in his hotel suite eating a hamburger and chili cheese fries. “I can’t believe how hungry I am.”
Max put his own burger down and leaned over and kissed her neck. “I can. … You know, this isn’t what I had planned for tonight.”
“Me either. You just looked so sexy lying on my couch. I couldn’t help myself.”
Max took a sip of his beer and wiped his mouth. “Who could?”
Liz playfully hit him.
“Seriously though, I wanted us to talk.” He shrugged. “Get … reacquainted sounds wrong since we weren’t exactly friends when we were kids.”
“True. But we both had serious cases of puppy love back then.”
Max seemed to turn a slight shade of pink. “Yeah, well, I’m not that pathetic, scrawny, little kid anymore.”
“From what Maria told me over the years, you weren’t scrawny for long. Star athlete, valedictorian, hardly pathetic. And on top of that a musician with actual talent. 4.0 at UNM Business School? That’s an incredible resume, Max.”
He shrugged. “Crap compared to yours. Valedictorian from the top private school in the nation, MBA from Harvard, running a major record company at twenty-four. That’s a resume.”
“A resume that I’d give up in a heartbeat to have had a normal life.” She shook her head. “That’s not true. I love the opportunities that I was given. I’m grateful for them, but I missed my family and my friends so much. It’s part of the reason I stayed away for so long.”
Max gave her a strange look.
“In the beginning, I’d come home for all of my school vacations. But it was so hard every time I had to leave. I would beg my mom to let me stay, but she told me that my grandmother said that I couldn’t forgo the opportunity of the top notch education I was getting.”
She bit her bottom lip and shrugged. “I know that my mom felt helpless in the situation, but all she would have had to do was stand up to her and…” She blew out a deep breath. “I know that none of this makes any sense. My life is a contradiction within itself. I guess the best way to sum it up is that I am both grateful and resentful for and of my life.”
Max brushed her hair from her face. “At least you’re not a disappointment to your family.” He got up and took their plates from the bed and placed them on the serving tray. “Let’s go sit in the Jacuzzi and I’ll tell you my story.”
The Tomb was a spectacular place. It was a former warehouse converted into a voyeur’s dream. Unlike a traditional strip club, all of the dancers were in glass rooms without ceilings throughout the club. In order to tip them, you placed the bills in slots that were around the room. The only time a dancer was near a customer was during shift changes or if they were getting a lap dance, and even then it was in plain sight of the other patrons.
The waiters and waitresses were dressed in jeans and black t-shirts. And the bar was so massive that it covered three walls.
The VIP room was much like the rest of the club. It had a private bar on one wall a round glass room sat in the middle and was encircled by plush.
Maria was getting antsy. Watching the nearly naked erotic dancing in front of her was making her ache. She crossed her legs and squeezed them together hoping to alleviate her growing desire.
They’d been at the club for forty-five minutes and she was beyond horny. Michael’s strategically placed hand on her upper thigh wasn’t helping her situation, either.
He leaned over and whispered in her ear. “You wanna get out of here?”
His hot breath was nearly enough to send her into an orgasmic frenzy. “More than you could possible know.” Her voice was breathy.
Michael grabbed her hand and led her back down to the entrance and out of the club. Waiting for his car seemed like forever.
He sped down the road and headed for the hotel. “I’d take you to my place, but the maid hasn’t shown up in like … ever.”
Maria giggled. “I don’t care where you take me just as long as you do.” She rubbed his thigh.
Michael’s leg jerked at her touch and his foot slammed on the accelerator, sending his car flying down the road.
Alex was enjoying his nice, stress-free date. How shocked was he when Felicia Dempsey walked into the elevator at Destiny! Currently, she was the hottest female recording artist in the country. He’d nervously broken the ice with a corny joke and by they time they made it to the studios, she’d asked him out.
“I have to warn you. Paparazzi will more than likely show up and start screaming at you. Think of it as training for when your band hits it big. How you react to them will determine what they think of you. Of course there are always the sleezoids who write crap about you no matter what you do.”
Alex laughed as he finished chewing his food. “I’m actually looking forward to them looking into my background. I’m a pretty big geek, in the traditional sense. I have a degree in Computer Science and worked for a software company. My biggest foible was when I ran around naked at my Aunt Michelle’s wedding in Yonkers. I was two.”
Felicia laughed. “You’d be surprised what they could do with information like that. The headline will read, ‘Roswell’s Alex Whitman Parties Naked!’, or something lame like that. Then people will buy the magazine only to find out the truth as revealed to the reporter by an unnamed relative.” She shook her head. “That’s what one so called reporter did to me when my mother innocently showed her pictures of me from Halloween when I was 7. I was obsessed with the movie ‘Grease’ and dressed like Sandy at the end of the movie. The headline read ‘Teen Rocker’s Bad Girl Past.’”
Alex nodded. “I remember that. I saw you on Oprah defending yourself”
“You watch Oprah?”
“My ex-girlfriend made me. She was obsessed with the show all through high school and college.” He took a sip of his drink. “No matter where we were or what we were doing, the world stopped when Oprah was on.”
Felicia smiled. “So you dated her a long time?”
He nodded. “Eight years. She refused to believe that I really wanted to do ‘this music thing.’ The fact that she couldn’t control my decision over it pissed her off and she gave me an ultimatum. I said good bye and plan on never looking back.”
“Good. Cause I was pretty much planning on beating her ass if she tried to get in my way.”
Alex blushed. “Why would you do that?
“Because I like you Alex. I liked you the second you cracked that dumb joke in the elevator. I’ve never dated someone that I actually chose. My entire romantic history has been brokered through my manager. It’s time for me to test the waters of my own decisions. My first decision is you.”
Alex held his hand out to shake her hand. “I am more than happy to be your swim fins.”
They shook hands and began to laugh.
Liz leaned against Max’s bare chest in the Jacuzzi on the private balcony of his suite. “Your dad’s really harsh. What does your mom say?”
“Mom just wants me to be happy, but she wants Dad to be happy too and I’m afraid that my father’s happiness usually takes priority over mine.” He let the bubbles relax the tension that was beginning to build.”
“Well, I say that we forget our families and make you famous. You’ll make more money in a year than your father could ever dream of making in his lifetime.”
Max kissed the top of her head. “This isn’t about the money for me as you can tell by the way I live. I just want to play my guitar and sing my songs.”
“Then the money will be a bonus.” She laced her fingers with his. “You need to think about management and a new name for the band.”
“I don’t want to put my future in a stranger’s hands.”
She nodded. “I understand. It’s completely unethical, but I do know someone. The group he was managing just retired. He’s been in the business for twenty years and he’s good. I could set up a meeting if you want.”
He pulled her onto his lap. “Let me talk to Alex and Maria first. Any decisions we make will be as a group.”
“You’re a smart man, Max Evans. Your father’s a fool.”
He kissed her sweetly on the lips. “I’ve been telling him that for years.”
Maria and Michael’s naked bodies were wrapped around each other. They’d been going at it for hours and were far from being finished.
It started in the car when Michael pulled into the parking garage of the hotel. Then in the private elevator that led to the Destiny suites. The foyer of her suite was next, followed by the table in the dining area. Finally, they made it into the bedroom where they were currently wrapped in tantric ecstasy.
Maria loved the fact that in their current position, she was in total control. And Maria liked control … well, sometimes. Her head flew back as his mouth connected to her right breast and sending her into a well earned orgasm.
As her body gripped him, sucking him deeper inside her, he exploded. Once he finished emptying himself inside her, he fell back panting.
“I like you beneath me.” Maria said from her perch atop him.
Michael shook his head. “I need a break. My dick is numb.”
Maria leaned forward and kissed him. “Poor baby.” She crooned as she climbed off of him and headed to the bathroom. “Just when I thought you could help me wash my hair, scrub my back, fuck me in the shower.” She disappeared through the door.
Five seconds later, Michael jumped up and ran after her.
The next morning, Isabel was sitting at the table of her parents’ home, eating breakfast when the paper arrived. Opening up to the entertainment section, she read the blurb under the picture of her ex-boyfriend and Felicia Dempsey. It read, “Local musician Alex Whitman may have found his destiny at Destiny Records.”
Second, I want to thank my wonderful beta Michelle. You see things within my work that I never would have thought about. Thanks for the awesome suggestions.
Sydnie
Adult Warning! This one gets a bit steamy.
