Isabel tells me with a slight red flush on her face. Looks cute! Where did that come from? Oh welll, at least I'm pretty sure she's not thinking about her kids anymore.
"I see enough of my students' parents who are divorced."
I sit up at that. She's working with children, after losing her own. I didn't expect that.
"You are a teacher? Really? What grade and what do you teach?" I ask excitedly and then blush slightly at my own noisiness. "Sorry but ... you are the first Antarian I ever had the pleasure to talk with so I'm sorry if I'm offending with my constant questioning."

Pleasure eh!? Not shock or any other such thing.
It's on the tip of my tongue to make a sarcastic comment but I refrain for whatever reason.
"Elementary school,first grade if you must know and I teach english.Are you sure you don't want to try and experiment on me?See what wonders you might find for the sake of science?" I ask a little huffily

I look at her in surprise and feel slightly offended by that. "I'm not that kind of a scientist, neither is Liz." Not wanting to start a huge argument with a possible soon to be relative of Liz, I change the topic, "And because of your pupil's parents you think that humans have no idea of commitment? I admit we don't have this bonding thing going on - would that even work for Antarian/Humans? - but some of us are actually living monogam. Besides, you work with young children, you could easily teach them values of relationships and love, couldn't you?"

"There's only so much I can do Alex.They spend a few hours of the day with me,that's not enough time to make such a huge impact.A good home environment is what counts the most,at that age especially.Their role models are at home and as much as I would love for half of them to come stay with me that's not possible."

"Ouch, there goes my ego." I mutter sarcastically while absorbing the 'disaster' comment she made. I guess the father of her children isn't around then. Would explain why I haven't seen him yet.

"That's a very polite way of putting it." I muse out loud before sighing. "No that's mean towards them, I know they only mean well but with all the traveling I did lately, it's impossible and it wouldn't be fair of me to start a relationship and be away most of the year. Besides, I'm no Brad Pitt anyway."
Then I frown slightly, "Sorry, I don't know how much you know about pop culture but Pitt is an actor who many women think is ... good looking."
There is silence between us for a few moments and that is getting on my nerves. I resist from drumming my fingers against the armrest of the couch and instead look back at Isabel, remembering something she said earlier.
"Are you worried about someone trying to capture you and trying to ... dissect you? Is that why you are agianst your brother's marriage?"
"Oh please...that's the last thing on my mind.One marital disaster is enough."

I am shocked by his words and I know I look a little startled. I guess that means that he's going to continue to see whatever Antarian girlfriend he has been seeing. I'm just a compatible womb that he'd like his children to share the same genes with. That's what he meant when he said he thought I was perfect. I must have either seen those flashes wrong or he showed me what he thought I would want to see.
Clearing my throat a couple of times and blinking down at the floor, trying to fight back tears, I say, "That's very generous of you." At least my voice sounds pretty normal. Changing the subject quickly I ask, "So do you live around here? Could I meet your family? Or would you rather I didn't. I mean I wouldn't want to cause any trouble or anything." I know that last part was a bit sarcastic or mean but I couldn't help it.

I raise my eyebrows when he says that.Does he think I shut myself away from the world or something? "Yes Alex...I do know who Brad Pitt is,I do happen to watch tv,go to the movies and read magazines and the newspaper."
It's rather amusing that he thought I wouldn't know who Brad Pitt is. "However I,unlike a lot of women do not find him attractive."
An uncomfortable silence descends and for the hundreth time I wish that either Max or Michael would make an appearance. "Are you worried about someone trying to capture you and trying to ... dissect you? Is that why you are agianst your brother's marriage?"
I look at him sharply but I can make out that he isn't asking me out of just curiosity,his eyes,there's something warm and sincere about them. "That was something I was terrified of as a little girl.I guess sometimes you never get over such irrational fears especially when you know there are people out there who fear anything unknown or unlike them."
