I'm Me Because of You (AU,M/L,ADULT) [COMPLETE]
Title: I'm Me Because of You
Author: Sydnie
Couple: Max and Liz
Rating: ADULT (eventually - please do I write anything else)
Disclaimer: Not mine.
Dedication: To everyone who has ever had FAITH in my writing.
Summary: Both Liz and Max are former child stars.
Part 1
Liz smiled at her students. She adored them. Never in a million years did she think that this would be the life that she would choose. It was a far cry from where she started.
Elizabeth Parker was one of the most beloved child actors that the world had seen in years. At eighteen, she decided that she needed to get away and decided to go to college. It was there that she fell in love with teaching. Now at 23, she was working at a small, private school, making 10,000 times less then she did when she was her student's age.
"Miss Parker?" The second grader said softly.
"Yes, Jennie?"
"Last night, I was watching an old movie and the little girl in it looked like you and had your name in the name list thingy at the end of it."
Liz laughed slightly at the word old. "What was the name of this old movie?"
"The Child to Remember." Jennie answered.
She smiled. "That was me. I was six years old."
The little girl's face lit up. "You were a movie star?"
"A long time ago. Now I'm your teacher."
A young boy spoke up. "Why don't you do it no more?"
"Any more, Peter." She corrected him. "And it's because right now, I'd rather be here with you. I love being your teacher."
~~~
Max Evans sat across the large mahogany desk from his agent. Like Liz, he too was a child star. But unlike Liz, he was still attempting to be an actor.
"Max, I know that I've been your agent since you were seven, but times have changed. Your last five movies flopped and you haven't worked in a year. I'm sorry, but in all honesty, I can no longer represent you."
He nodded. "I'm sorry to hear that, David." Max stood and shook his hand. "See ya around." He left the office.
He rode down the elevator in silence to the parking garage. He got into his car, drove out of the garage and out of LA.
~~~
"How was work, sweetheart?" Nancy Parker asked her daughter.
"Wonderful." Liz answered with a smile. "One of the girls in my class recognized me in A Child to Remember last night. They couldn't believe that I gave it up to teach."
"So I share the same view with a bunch of second graders?"
"Momma! Okay, so this wasn't my original plan, but you know how much I love my job."
Nancy shook her head. "Elizabeth, you ran away."
She sat on the couch. "I did not run away. I went to college."
"On the other side of the country."
Liz rubbed her forehead with her finger tips. "The decisions I have made have nothing to do with Max."
"Sure, whatever you say. I'm going to the gym."
Liz shook her conversation with her mother out of her head and grabbed today's spelling tests along with a green pen and a red pen out of her book bag.
Fifteen minutes later, the door bell rang.
She sighed and got up. "Who could that be?" She opened the door.
When he saw her, he dropped to his knees and wrapped his arms around her waist.
"Max?"
He began to sob.
Her heart started to ache for him but then she remembered all of the pain. She pushed him off of her. "What are you doing here?"
He looked up at her and tears fell down his cheeks. "I'm sorry."
She knew he wasn't talking about the present. "It's a little late. Don'tcha think?"
He stood. "Since the day you left, my life, my career, everything, it's just fucked up."
"Whose fault is that?" She stared at him and then stepped aside. "You look like shit, Max. Come on in."

So what do you think? Should I continue?
I'm almost finished with the last part of Something Different and I'm taking a short break from The Next Chapter so that it doesn't get too stale. This is just my breather fic. Hope you like it.

Part 2
Max followed Liz into the living room of the house that she shared with her parents.
"Why are you here, Max?" She asked again as she moved the spelling tests from the couch to the coffee table and sat down.
Max chose to sit in a chair across from her. "David dropped me. I doubt you've seen any of my work in the last five years, but it sucked. I haven't even worked in a year."
"And this is supposed to be my fault?" Her tone was angry.
"No!" He ran his hand frustratedly through his hair. "I'm the one that fucked up my career." He looked her directly in the eye. "Liz, I swear to God, I did not intentionally hurt you. I would never do that."
"Well ya know what? You did." She was trying desparately not to tear up and compose herself. "Do you have any idea what it was like for me that night? I was humiliated!"
Max rubbed the back of his neck. "I didn't know what was going on. I swear, baby, I didn't."
"Right, sure you didn't. She just tripped and her mouth fell on you dick!"
"For all I knew, that's how it happened!" He got up, walked around the coffee table and knelt in front of her. "Liz, I took one sip of my drink and I don't remember anything for the next three days. When I woke up, I was home and you were gone."
"You honestly expect me to believe that shit?"
He grabbed her hands in his. "Liz, I was going to propose that night. Why would I ruin that?"
She shook her head.
"Didn't you read any of the letters I sent you? The packages?"
She shook her head.
He looked heart broken. "D'you throw them away?"
She shook her head.
"Everything's in them." He stood and kissed her cheek. "I'm staying at the Jamison Motel on Thompson Road. Room 327. Call me after you read them. ... If you read them."
He left her sitting in her living room, stunned. Spelling tests forgotten, she got up and ran up to her bedroom.
Liz walked to her bed and knelt on the floor. She reached under her bed and grabbed the first of five boxes. One for each year they'd been apart. Each one completely full.
She opened the lid of the first box. In typical Liz fashion, the contents were in chronological order.
With shaky hands, she carefully opened the first letter. When she pulled it out, something fell to the floor. She unfolded the paper and began to read the desparate handwritting.
Liz, what happened? The last thing I remember Friday night was walking into the club with you and we went to the VIP room. You went to the bathroom and that slutty waitress handed me a drink. After that, everything's blank. I guess I woke up last night and you were gone. Maria told me what happened, but I swear, I don't remember. I planned on asking you to be my wife. I know you're only 18, but I've been in love with you since the first time I met you. And I was only nine. Please, put my ring on and come back to me. I love you, baby. Please come back and marry me.
Love,
Max
Liz thought back to that night. The waitress was an overly big boobed blond who had slepted her way around the VIP room. Max had been making fun of her even before they gotten there and it had continued quietly when they'd arrived. A few minutes later, Liz gave him a hungry, passionatel kiss, then excused herself to the ladies room. When she returned, the blond whore was blowing him.
She picked the diamond ring off of the floor and held it tight in her grasp. After putting the first letter back neatly, she went to the next and the next and the next. The first box of letters read the same. The fifth package in the second box was the one that made her heart lurch.
The headline of the LA Times read, Waitress Arrested in Rape Drug Scandal
Liz took the video tape from the package and inserted it into her VCR. A handsome, young latino correspondant was reporting the news story.
"Twenty-nine year old waitress, Tess Harding, has been arrested for a crime that is rocking young Hollywood. Currently she is charged with numerous counts of drugging and then raping her victims. And who are her victims? Some of the hottest young stars Tinsel Town has to offer. When asked by this reporter why she did what she had done, her response was, and I quote, 'They've been screwin' me one way or another for tears. I'm just gettin' back at 'em.'"
Liz stopped the tape. "She heard him make fun of her."
A knock came from her bedroom door.
"Come in."
Nancy entered her daughter's room. "Lizzie, your dad and I are going to dinner. Wanna come?" She saw the boxes. "Honey, what's going on?"
She looked up at her mother with tears in her eyes. "Max didn't break my heart. I did."

Wow! Thanks for the great feedback. All questions will be answered within a future part of the story.

Now...
Part 3
"Sweetheart, what are you talking about?" Nancy asked her now sobbing daughter.
Liz recounted the afternoon's events.
Her mother got down on the floor with her. "Oh baby."
"Mom, I cut myself off from everybody. I feel like such an idiot now. If I hadn't just bolted..."
Nancy stroked Liz's face. "You wouldn't be a teacher. Lizzie, I know I've been ragging on you about leaving the business, but I am so proud of you. Your students adore you. Not because you're Elizabeth Parker, Academy Award winning actress, but because you're Miss Parker, their teacher. What happened five years ago made you who you are. Yes, it was torturous and painful, but it's made you who you are."
Liz nodded and wiped her face. "I've gotta make a phone call."
"Okay. The dinner offer still stands."
"I'm not hungry, thanks."
Nancy kissed her forehead. "I love you, baby."
"I love you too, Mommy."
Liz got up and went to her closet. She dug through a box and found her address book. Then she grabbed her phone and dialed.
It was picked up after the third ring.
"What?"
"Maria?"
Yeah."
"It's, um, it's Liz."
A humph was heard over the line.
"Liz? The only Liz I know dumped em five years ago. What could she possibly want?"
Liz broke down. "My best friend."
"Where are you?"
"My parent's house. Do you remember where that is?"
"I'll be there in a few hours."
"Thank you."
~~~
Maria arrived around eleven that night. When they saw each other, they hugged like their lives depended on it.
"Thanks for coming, Maria. I know I hurt you and I don't know if you'll ever understand why I did what I did, but..."
Maria shushed her. "Lizzie, I know everything that happened that night from both sides. I can understand why you left, but you're right. I don't understand why you threw our friendship away."
Liz took her hand. ""Let's sit and I'll tell you." They moved to the living room and sat on the couch. "Can I offer you something to eat or drink?"
"Quit stallin' Liz."
"Sorry." She took a breath. "You know what? I think Max should be here for this."
Maria sighed in frustration. "Good luck. I've been trying to call him all day. He ain't answerin'."
"He's here." She grabbed the phone book and looked up the Jamison. She picked up the phone, took a deep breath and dialed. "... Room 320 ... It's me. Can you come over? ... Bye." She hung up. "He should ne here in about ten minutes." She rubbed her neck. "You may not need a drink, but I sure do." She got up and headed over to the bar.
Maria got up. "A drink's sounding better and better." She poured herself a glass of Crown, straight up. "So, what have you been doing? I know you went to college."
Liz took a sip of her drink. "I'm a Second Grade teacher at a small, private school here in town."
"Wow. A teacher. I'm impressed." Her voice lacked emotion, but her face expressed her approval.
"How about you, Maria? What are you up to?"
Maria swallowed the last of her drink and began fixing her another. "I just finished the soundtrack for Michael's latest movie. ... We're supposed to get married this summer, but, I don't know."
Liz nearly dropped her drink. "Wait, wait, wait. Michael Guerin? You always hated him."
"Oh, I still do most of the time, but in a lovey dovey, great in the sack, wanna spend every minute of my life with him kind of way."
Liz shook her head. "You haven't changed."
There was a knock coming from the front door.
Liz went to the entryway and peeked out the peephole. She took a breath and opened the door. "Hey."
"Hey."
"Hey Max." Maria greeted.
"Maria. When'd you get here?" He hugged her.
"About twenty minutes ago. I heard what happened. I'm really sorry."
He shrugged. "Can't blame him. I'da dropped me too."
Liz moved back to the bar and was fixing herself another drink. "Can I fix you one, Max?"
"Thanks, but I don't drink."
She nodded and took her drink over to the couch and sat down. "Why don't you two have a seat."
They did as she said. Maria sat beside Liz and Max took the seat across from them where he'd sat earlier.
"Let me start by saying that I've read about one-fifth of your letters, Max." She opened up her left hand and showed him that his ring had not been lost. "I stopped after the newspaper article and the news footage about that woman's arrest." She clasped her hand shut again. "I shouldn't have cut myself off from everyone, I know that now, but I was eighteen and when I walked into that room and that skanky whore was giving you a blowjob ... I felt beyond betrayed."
"You might have felt betrayed, Lizzie dear, but your best friend here was pissed. After you left the club, I yanked that bitch off him by her hair and then started beating the shit outta Maxieboy. Michael was the one that pulled me off him. The thing is, Max was clueless to what was goin' on around him. I tried to find you, but you weren't at your apartment. When I called your mom, she said that you weren't here, but when you were ready to talk, you'd call me." Maria laughed sarcastically. "Guess I didn't realize that it would take you five years to be ready to talk."
"You have every right to be pissed off at me, Maria. At the time, I just wanted to get away from everything and everyone that reminded me of Max. I know it sounds stupid, but I was in so much pain. I really, really, really am sorry." She was crying again.
"Oh Lizzie. I love you so much. I'm still hurt that I got caught in the cross-fire, but I guess I can sorta understand why." She hugged Liz.
Then Liz looked at Max. "Do you understand why I freaked?"
He didn't respond.
"Max, look at it from my perspective. Two hours before what happened happened, I gave you my virginity."
Maria choked on her drink. "Okay ... (cough) ... that's ... (cough) ... my cue." She cleared her throat. "I'm gonna go call Michael and set myself up in the guest room."
When they were alone, Max moved beside her. "That was the most spectacular experience of my life. Hell, I'd waited for twelve years. I was going to ask you to marry me right then, but I had it all planned out. We were going to the club, dance, have some fun, then the DJ was going to call us to the stage. A spot light would shine on us, I'd drop to my knee and ask you to marry me, Instead..." His voice dropped off.
"That waitress made you her next victim." She rubbed her eyes. Her makeup long since cried off. "This is just so fucked up."
"I still love you, Liz." He grabbed her hand. "I've never stopped." He pushed her hair behind her ear. "Is there any way of ... picking up where we left off? Or at least starting over?" His eyes were hopeful.
Liz bit her lip and shrugged. "I don't know."
Then Liz looked at Max. "Do you understand why I freaked?"
He didn't respond.
"Max, look at it from my perspective. Two hours before what happened happened, I gave you my virginity."
Maria choked on her drink. "Okay ... (cough) ... that's ... (cough) ... my cue." She cleared her throat. "I'm gonna go call Michael and set myself up in the guest room."
When they were alone, Max moved beside her. "That was the most spectacular experience of my life. Hell, I'd waited for twelve years. I was going to ask you to marry me right then, but I had it all planned out. We were going to the club, dance, have some fun, then the DJ was going to call us to the stage. A spot light would shine on us, I'd drop to my knee and ask you to marry me, Instead..." His voice dropped off.
"That waitress made you her next victim." She rubbed her eyes. Her makeup long since cried off. "This is just so fucked up."
"I still love you, Liz." He grabbed her hand. "I've never stopped." He pushed her hair behind her ear. "Is there any way of ... picking up where we left off? Or at least starting over?" His eyes were hopeful.
Liz bit her lip and shrugged. "I don't know."
Max's body felt as if he'd just had the shit kicked out of him. He'd thought for sure that once Liz knew the truth, she'd jump into his arms. His attention suddenly found his shoes. "You don't know."
"Max, I'm not the same little girl I was five years ago. I'm a completely different person." She placed her hand on his arm. "I'm not saying never. I just need some time to process everything. Okay?"
He nodded. "So I guess I should go now."
"Meet me for lunch tomorrow. Um, say around 11:30?" She bit her bottom lip.
"That's a little early, but okay. Where do you want to meet?"
Liz smiled. "The Jamison Academy. It's six blocks south from where you're staying."
"What's The Jamison Academy?"
"It's a private school. I teach there." She then noticed the ungraded spelling tests on the coffee table and picked them up. "I'd better finish grading these. There's nothing worse than a class full of pissed off second graders."
Max looked at her with complete adoration. "I bet you're a great teacher."
She blushed. "I don't know about being a great teacher, but I try really hard. This is only my second year, but I love it."
He stood. "I guess I'll be going so you can finish up."
Liz put the tests down and stood next to him. "I'll walk you out."
When they got to the door, he opened it and walked onto the porch. "So I'll see you tomorrow."
"Night Max."
Without even thinking, Max leaned down and kissed her. "Good night Liz."
As she watched him walk to his car, she was dazed. He had made her entire body tingle with a simple kiss.
~~~
Liz was up at six the next morning as usual. She knocked on the guest room door, but got no answer. Slowly opening the door, she found Maria dead to the world.
After getting a shower and then getting dressed, she went into the kitchen for breakfast. Nancy was sitting at the table drinking coffee and reading the newspaper.
"Morning Mom."
"Hey sweetheart. Who's in the guest room?"
"Maria."
"DeLuca?"
Liz nodded. "I called her. I told her that I needed her and she came. I honestly have no idea how I'm gonna make it up to her."
"It's just going to take time. I take it you're going to work today?"
"Yeah. Do you think you can entertain Maria until I get home?"
Nancy chuckled. "I think I can manage."
"Max is coming up at lunch." She blurted.
"Are you sure that's a good idea?"
She shrugged. "Mom, right now, I'm not sure about anything."
~~~
"Okay, so here's the deal." She held the graded tests in her hand. "I'm going to give you one more chance on these tests. Only this time, study. Out of twenty, two passed. I'm not going to tell you who, but if you passed the first time, you'll pass the next. You might even make a better grade."
The lunch bell rang, making Liz jump.
"I'll see you after Computers. Class dismissed."
She grabbed her lunch and the one she'd made for Max and headed to the school office. He was sitting on a blue chair waiting for her.
"Hi." He stood and hugged her.
"Hey. Come on." They walked into the teacher's lounge and got some sodas then headed out of there. "I've got the perfect place."
He followed her down the hallway. "Which one's yours?"
"My classroom?"
He nodded.
"I'll show you later." She stopped in front of a closed door.
"What's this?"
She bit her lip. "You remember when we made A Child? We were on location at that high school and Matt and Kelly kept disappearing into the Eraser Room during breaks? Well, this is the Eraser Room. No one will bother us here because they only clean erasers on Fridays after school." She opened the door and led him inside.
Max was laughing.
"What's so funny?"
He shook his head. "I remember being nine years old and wondering what was so fastinating about erasers."
"Hey, I was only six and I knew what was going on. Of course I walked in on them in Kelly's trailer." They sat at the card table that Liz set up when she got to school that morning and she handed him his lunch. "I hope you still like PB&J."
"It's still my favorite."
Liz opened her Vanilla Coke. "I remember you had a crush on her."
"Kelly?"
Liz nodded.
"I just told you that cuz I didn't want it getting out that I liked a six year old."
"Oh." She blushed then took a deep breath. "This is so weird." She put her sandwich down. "I had it all planned out. We'd have lunch and play 'Remember When', then I'd show you my class room and introduce you to my students as the boy who was in that movie with me and then you'd go back to your motel and I'd see you again tomorrow. My mind keeps telling me that I need to be rational and get to know you again, but my heart..."
Max smiled at her. "What does your heart want?"
"To forget the past. ... Max, the reason I closed myself off wasn't because I hated you. It's because I couldn't stop loving you. When I saw what that waitress was doing to you, I blamed myself. We'd just made love and I thought that I didn't satisfy you and that's why..."
He put his finger over her lips to hush her. "Liz, you more than satisfied me. It was everything that I'd imagined it would be. I'd always heard that the first time was supposed to be awkward. We were both virgins and it was anything but."
His words were making him melt. "I know I'm gonna regret asking you this, but how many women have you been with since?" She swallowed hard as she waited for his answer.
"None."
Her eyes went wide. "You're twenty-six years old."
He nodded. "I'm not saying that there weren't opportunities, I just couldn't. It always felt like I was cheating on you." He rubbed the back of his neck. "What about you?"
She shook her head. "I didn't give myself the opportunity. I was too focused on my academics to let anybody get too close."
They finished their lunch in silence, but kept glancing at each other.
The bell rang and they cleaned up their mess.
"Come on. I'll show you my classroom." She led him through the hall until they came to a door that had a name plate on it that read Miss Parker. "This is it."
They entered.
"Aren't their usually students?"
"They're in computer class right now. It's my conference hour."
Max grinned. "You really have changed, haven't you?"
Liz took a deep breath and stood directly in front of him. "I think I've just grown up." She couldn't stop herself. Her arms went around his neck and she pulled his lips to hers.
Part 5
Liz shut the door behind her and leaned against it. Max had been a huge hit with her class ... and with her. She hadn't meant for anything to happen. They were going to have lunch, talk and get to know each other again. But the knowledge that other than the she-bitch raping him, he'd only been with her, that he'd stayed true to their love, she couldn't keep her lips off of him. It was only when the bell rang, signaling the end of her conference period, that she'd broken apart from him. Luckily, she was able to pull herself together so she didn't look completely disheveled when her class entered the room.
The doorbell rang causing her to jump. When she opened the door, she was met with a surprise.
"Hey Parker."
"Oh my God! Michael!" She hugged him.
"You're lookin'..." He took the sight of her denim jumper. "What the hell are you wearin'?"
"I'm a teacher."
"That explains it."
She hit him on the shoulder.
"Maria around?"
They moved into the entryhall.
"I don't know. I just got home. Her car's here."
"She's still asleep." Jeff Parker said as he entered the hall. "Hello Michael."
They shook hands. "Maria's still on LA time."
Jeff looked confused. "We're in the same time zone."
"That's true, but Maria's a night owl. Her day usually doesn't start 'til now."
Maria slowly came walking down the stairs. "I knew I heard your voice. I thought you weren't coming?"
"Change of plans. We gotta go over the new songs."
Her face grew angry. "What new songs?"
Michael scratched his eyebrow. "We need three more for the soundtrack."
"Dammit Michael!"
Jeff laughed and then turned to his daughter. "I'm taking a cab to the restaurant to pick up your mom and then we're heading to the airport. Don't forget to pick up your mom's car from the restaurant."
"I won't forget. Have fun in Hawaii, Dad."
He kissed her forehead. "Bye sweetie. Nice seeing you kids again." With that, Jeff left.
~~~
Max lay on his bed with a smile on his face. Things were finally going his way again.
His cell rang. When Max looked at the Caller ID, he shook her head.
"Hey Iz."
"Where in the hell are you? Do you have any idea how worried we are? David called Mom and Dad and told them that he let you go and then no one could find you anywhere."
"Isabel! I'm fine. I'm just visiting an old friend. I needed to get away."
"What old friend?"
"Liz." He whispered.
"Max, NO! She left you, remember?"
He rubbed his forehead. "Don't start Isabel! You know the circumstances behind that. Now, so does she."
"I just ... I don't want you to get hurt again."
"I won't." His room phone rang. "Hold on." He answered the other phone. "Hello?"
"It's me."
"Hold on a sec, kay?" He put his cell back to his ear. "Tell Mom and Dad I'm fine and I'll call them soon."
Max!"
"Bye Izzie." He turned his phone off and put the other phone to his ear. "Sorry about that. What's up?"
"Michael's here. He and Maria are going to his hotel working on some music and they're gonna be occupied for the rest of the night. So, my evening is completely free."
He smiled. "Really?" His voice sounded intrigued.
"Uh huh. What I'm thinking is that you can come over here, I can make dinner and we can watch some movies."
"I like the going over there and watching movies parts, but ... I remember how you used to cook and..."
Max, that was five years ago. I can cook now ... without setting the kitchen on fire ... again."
He laughed. "Is there anything I can bring?"
"Just you."
"Let me shower and change. I'm glad I keep a packed suit case in my trunk."
She laughed. I'll see you soon Max." She hung up.
Max hopped off of the bed and bounced into the bathroom.
~~~
An hour later, Liz was standing in the kitchen comfortably dressed in a tank top, a pair of low ride jeans and barefoot. She was just about to start the steaks when the doorbell rang. Her heart began to pound in excitement. She hurried to the front door, took a deep breath and opened it.
They stood, not moving, taking in each others appearances.
Max was wearing a tight pair of blue jeans and an equally tight black t-shirt. In his hands were a dozen white roses.
"Those for me?" She finally asked.
He shook the fog from his head. "Yeah. I, uh, I remembered that they were your favorite." He handed the flowers to her.
"They're beautiful. Thank you."
He followed her into the kitchen and watched her put them in a vase. "So, what's for dinner?"
"Grilled steaks, baked potatoes and hot rolls."
"My favorite."
Liz placed the flowers on the table and then moved to put the steaks on the stovetop grill. "The potatoes should be ready by the time steaks are done. I put them in right after I got off the phone with you."
Max laughed quietly. "When did you become Susie Homemaker?"
"I took a few cooking classes in college. I was living on my own and couldn't eat out all the time so I learned how to cook."
"You are an amazing woman." He wrapped his arms around her waist.
She shook her head. "Nope, just a survivor."
~~~
Dinner had gone wonderfully. Max savored every bite and then washed the dishes as she sat and watched.
When the dishes were finished and put away, they went into the living room.
"So, what are we gonna watch?"
Liz smiled. "It's a surprise." She opened the cabinet door of the entertainment center and revealed hundreds of DVDs and videos in alphabetical order. She found the one she was looking for and placed it into the player. Then she sat on the sofa next to Max.
"What is it?" He asked as the previews appeared.
She pressed the menu button on the remote. "You'll see."
He looked from her face to the screen and shook his head when he saw his own face. "God Liz, not this. Please!"
"I have all of your movies. I've just never watched them."
"Why now? Trust me, they're crap."
She leaned closer to him. "Let me be the judge."
Halfway through the movie, she was in hysterics. It was a campy boy meets girl, boy nails girl, boy dumps girl, girl takes boy back movie. They were at the beach scene when Liz suddenly sat up. "Is that real?"
Max had only been half-ass watching the movie. "What?"
"The tattoo?"
He nodded.
"I wanna see! Take off your shirt!" She was like a little kid as she pawed at the hem of his shirt, pulling it from his jeans.
He laughed. "Hold on." He pulled his shirt over his head. On the back of his shoulder was a black inked, two inch picture of her with Elizabeth My Love under it.
She brushed her thumb over it and then she kissed it.
Max shifted to face her. "Liz..."
She climbed into his lap and pressed her lips to his. Deepening the kiss, she pressed her growing heat into the hardening bulge between his legs. She scooted back and unfastened his belt then his jeans releasing his cock from its confines.
"Liz..." He hissed.
Without a word, she got off of his lap and removed her pants and panties.
Max pushed his pants farther down his legs then grabbed her hips and pulled him onto his throbbing member.
"Oh my GOD!" She gasped as he filled her. "OOOH!"
Max's hands moved under her tank and removed it.
Liz placed her hands on his chest and began moving, pushing him deeper inside of her.
"Oh Liz ... baby, you feel so amazing... aw fuck!" His head fell back into the pillow and he was panting more and more. "I'm not gonna last much longer."
With that said, Liz leaned forward so that his pelvic bone would manipulate her clit. Minutes later, they came together.

Part 6
Liz's alarm went off at six o'clock the next morning. "Mmm." She moaned into Max's hard, muscular chest. Giving him a slightly lingering kiss on his torso, she started to get out of bed.
"Where ya goin'?" He groaned.
"I gotta get ready for work."
He wrapped his arms around her. "Can't you call in sick?"
She leaned down and kissed him. "As much as I'd love to, I can't. I have a meeting in an hour and a conference with a parent after lunch."
He grimaced. "The real world sucks."
She kissed him again. "Just go back to sleep and I'll be back before you know it." As she moved to get out of her bed, the soreness from the previous night's activities set in. "Okay, this is painful."
Max laughed. "If it's any consolation, I can't move."
"Yes, but you have the option of lounging in my bed all day." She walked into her bathroom and turned on the shower. Looking into the mirror, she stared at her reflection. She looked different. For the first time in a long time, she looked happy.
As she stepped into the shower, thhe spray of warm water began soothing her aches. "Oh yeah. This feels good."
Max walked through the open door. "Mind if I pee?"
Liz looked at him through the clear shower curtain. The sight of his naked form made her body tingle. She knew that whenever he got tense, he'd worked out. He must have had a lot of tension in the past five years.
"Liz?"
"What?" She was brought out of her fog. "Sure. yeah, no problem. Just don't flush it until I'm outta here." She watched him. Here was this man using her toilet and she found it completely ... erotic?
Shaking her head, she quickly showered and washed her hair.
Max sat up on the sink and watched as she moved her hands over her body.
"What are you going to do today?" She asked.
"Well, the first thing I'm gonna do after you abandon me is call my parents. Isabel called yesterday and said they were worried about ny little unplanned vacation.
"How are they?"
"They're good. They both still work too much, but you know how they are."
"What about Iz?"
"Married."
She turned the water off. "Who? Alex?"
Max handed her a towel. "Yeah. It's actually a funny story. They broke up probably two months after you left. He was sick of her bithciness and called her on it so they split. Summer before last, she was about to marry some young hot shot at Dad's firm when Alex burst through the doors of the church and seranaded her. It's quite an interesting home video." He flushed the toilet.
Liz laughed. "Ever the drama with her, huh?" She towel dried her hair.
"I'm gonna grab a shower too if that's alright."
She smiled. "As long as you don't mind company."
He put his arms around her. "As long as the company is you, not at all." He kissed her. "That reminds me. You wouldn't happen to have an extra tooth brush, would you?"
She opened her cabinet and kissed him again as she handed him the tooth brush.

"Once again, I apologize for making you get here an hour early, but believe me, this is important." Nathan Davis, president of the Jamison Academy school board, started. "Our financial situation is, well, it's not good. Enrollement is down and I'm afraid that raising tuition will only alienate more people and losed more students. What I want from you, the teachers, is feedback. How do you think we can raise the money needed. We've already had several fund raisers and they've all been busts. Does anyone have any ideas off the top of your heads."
Liz would have offered to give the school the money needed, but she'd tried that before and they'd refused. But she did have an idea and raised her hand.
"Miss Parker, we've already told you..."
"No, that's not it. What I'm thinking is that we hold a benefit. A night with the Stars kinda thing. I still have friends and they have friends and so on. We charge admission and they get to party with famous people."
Everyone loved the idea.
"Where do we start?" Mr. Davis asked.
"Get me a location and a date and I'll start making calls."
~~~
Liz was sitting on the couch with her back to Max as he massaged her shoulders.
"Do you think it will work?"
He leaned forward and kissed her neck. "Baby, I guarentee that whomever you call will help out. You know how we are. This will make great press."
She nodded in agreement. "You wanna know what scares me?"
He nodded. "I'm gonna put myself out there and everyone's gonna say 'Elizabeth who?'."
Max wrapped his arms around her and pulled her into his chest. "Nobody could ever forget you."
She turned her face to him. "You are great for my ego."
He tightened his "I love you."
Tears stung her eyes as his words touched her heart. "I'm so happy you're back in my life. I feel so cheated because we lost all of those years."
He nodded. "Me too, but looking back at us then..." He shrugged. "We were too young and too rich. Okay, so I pretty much let my career go to hell and have no life, but look at you. You got your degree and you have a real job."
"I do miss acting sometimes." She yawned.
"Tired?"
She nodded. "Someone kept me up all night."
He kissed her forehead. "I'd tell you I'm sorry about that but I'd be lying." He lay back on the couch. "Take a nap."
"I love the feeling of lying on top of you, but this isn't very comfortable." She sat up. "I'm going upstairs. Wanna join me?"
"Nah. You need to get some sleep. If I joined you, you wouldn't get any." He grinned.
"Fine." She sighed. "Wake me up in a couple of hours."
~~~
By six o'clock, Michael and Maria were there. Max informed them about Liz's project and they both agreed to help.
"I'm gonna run upstairs and wake Liz." He left them alone in the living room.
The phone rang.
Maria answered it. "Parker residence."
"Yes, this is Nathan Davis calling for Liz Parker. Is she in?"
"She's napping. May I take a message?"
"Yes, thank you. Would you please tell her that we've scheduled the benefit for Friday, June 1st at the Pavillion."
"I'll tell her." She hung up. "Give me your day planner." She told Michael.
He gave her the date book. "What's up?"
She flipped through the book. Grabbing a pen, she wrote the words Lizzie's benefit."
"I thought you wanted to get to get married that weekend?"
"Nah. We can just fly to Vegas next weekend and do it."
Michael laughed. "Wasn't that my original plan?"
"Yes." She kissed him. "And you always get what you want."
"Who was that on the phone?" Liz asked as she entered the room.
"Nathan Davis. The benefit is June 1st at the Pavillion."
"Thanks. I'd better call and see if he has any other details."
Max stopped her. "It's Friday. Take a break. Besides you've already got three famous people."
She smiled. "True." Her stomach growled. "Pizza."

In bed that night...
"Max?"
"Hmm?"
"Michael and Maria are getting married next weekend in Vegas."
"I know. Michael asked me to be his best man."
"So, I guess that that means we're gonna both be in Las Vegas next weekend."
"Mm hmm."
"Max?'
"Hmm?"
"Will you marry me next weekend?"
"No."

Liz felt her heart constrict. "No?"
"No. I don't want to marry you in Las Vegas." He answered her.
Huge tears formed in her eyes. "Oh." She whispered.
"When we get married, it's going to be exactly the way you've always wanted it, a big, lavish wedding with family and friends and a media helicopter trying desperately trying to get a picture of us." He sat up. "Where's my ring?"
Speechless, she pointed to her nightstand.
He took it out of the drawer and grabbed her left hand. "Liz, five years ago, I had a rehearsed speech that I was going to say in front of a club full of people. But I lost my chance and for five years I lost you. Now, here we are again. This time, it's just you and me. Elizabeth Parker, will you please marry me?"
Her tears finally spilled from her eyes as she nodded. "Can I think about it?" She wiggled her eyebrows at him.
Max pushed the ring onto her finger. "That's to get me back, huh?"
She nodded again then smiled. "I guess I'll marry you." She sighed as she looked at the ring on her finger. "I love you Max. I know we still have some issues to deal with and my parents are gonna freak, but this feels right."
He wrapped his arms around her. "I just thought of a great way to get a ton of stars at your benefit. We'll get married June 2nd. That should bring a few big names to town. Anyway, we can make it a big thing. Invite them to the benefit on Friday night and to the wedding on Saturday."
"Wow. You're smart."
He pulled her on yop of him. "I have my moments."
She kissed him.
The phone rang.
"UGH!" Liz reached and grabbed for the phone as Max anchored her to him. "Hello?"
"Hi Sweetie, how's everything going?"
Liz's body began to blush. "Hi Mom! Everything's great here. How's Hawaii?"
"It's beautiful. This is the best anniversaey gift you've ever given us."
"It's my..." Max goosed her. "pleasure" She hit him. "Sorry about that. I, uh, I stubbed my toe."
"Poor thing. How's everything I'm going with Max?"
Liz smiled and looked at her ring. "We're working things out. I still love him, Mom."
"Just don't rush into anything. Try to take things slow."
"Slow." She repeated as she sat up straddling Max. "I don't want to take things slow. We've lost so much time already."
Nancy sighed. "Just do me a favor. Please don't run off to Vegas and get married."
"Well, we are heading there next weekend."
"WHAT? Elizabeth, no!"
Liz giggled. "Michael and Maria are getting married. Max and I are the witnesses. He and I aren't getting married ... yet anyway."
Max's hands slid up her thighs. "I love you." He whispered.
"You've already set a date, haven't you?"
She pushed her pelvis down on him. "What are your plans for June 2nd?"
"Are you sure about this, honey?"
Liz gazed into Max's eyes. "I've never been more sure about anything in my life."

Saturday morning, Liz and Maria were sitting in the Parker's kitchen. In front of them were two lists, one for Maria's wedding and one for Liz's.
"Okay, Maria. Your list is first. You need a dress."
Maria nodded. "I want something simple. I refuse to wear anything fru-fru."
Liz nodded. "I know the perfect place. She's a really great lady and she can create anything you can imagine. She's made every formal dress I've ever owned. In fact, my last Oscar dress, she made it in three days."
"Whoa. I'm impressed. Think she'll have time to whip together my dress?"
"Believe me, Lillie can do it."
Max walked into the kitchen wearing a pair of gray sweatpants, scratching his head. "Morning." He kissed Liz.
"Maria and I are going shopping. Wanna come?" She smiled a goofy smile.
Max shook his head. "I think I'll pass. I'm gonna make a few phone calls. Give my parents a heart attack." He watched Liz's face fall. "I'm joking, baby. My parents love you. They're going to be thrilled."
"Max, I'm the girl who made you miserable for five years."
He knelt down beside her. "No. Tess Harding made my life miserable for five years. You are just as much her victim as I am. They know that. Now Isabel..."
"Is a bitch." Maria finished for him."
"Yes, but that's not what I was going to say. Isabel's always been very protective of me. Seeing me so devestated just kicked her instincts into high gear." He pushed Liz's hair behind her ear. "She'll just have to get over it. I love you and I'm never letting you go again." His lips caught hers in a passionate kiss.
"AW. You guys are so sweet, Almost makes me wanna call Michael." Maria slapped her hand down on the table makig the lovers jump apart. "But, we've got too much to do today for me to get all mushy. Ready to go chica?"
"I guess." Liz kissed Max. "Wanna meet for lunch?"
"Anywhere."
"How about my parent's restaurant around 1:30. Do you remember where it is?"
He nodded. "I'll miss you." He kissed her again.
"At this rate, I'll be getting married in my underwear. Let's go." Maria put her hands on her hips.
"Okay, okay. We're leaving." She kissed Max one more time and they left.
~~~
"Diane Evans."
"Hey Mom. I knew you'd be at your office."
"Hi honey. How is everything? Are you alright?"
"I told you yesterday Mom, I'm fine. I've got some good news. Liz and I are getting married."
There was a long silence over the phone.
"Mom?"
"Sweetheart, don't you think this is a bit quick?"
"I'm not talking about tomorrow. June 2nd. That's like four and a half months away."
Diane took a deep loud breath. "What can I do to help?"
Max smiled. "Just be the supportive mom that you've always been."
~~~
Are you sure you don't want something more elaborate?" Lillie asked Maria.
Maria shook her head. "I'll leave elaborate to Lizzie."
"Okay." Lille finished the sketch. "How's this?"
She looked at the dress design. "It's exactly the way I described it."
"I told you she's incredible." Liz smiled.
Lillie smiled. "You're too sweet, Liz." She looked back at Maria. "Come by Monday for a fitting. I should have it ready for you by Wednesday." She turned back to Liz. "Okay, Liz. Hand me the drawing you've got in your purse."
Liz giggled. "You know me too well." She handed Lillie the piece of paper with Liz's dress design on it. "Think you can do it?"
Lillie nodded. "You'll be a beautiful June bride."

Isabel Evans-Whitman sat in the back of a limo arguing with her mother on the phone. "No Mother, I will not calm down! This is the most idiotic decision Max has ever made! Elizabeth Parker ripped his heart out. Has that fact simply disappeared from everyone's memories?"
Diane was beyond put out with her oldest child. "Isabel Amanda Evans, you listen to me, young lady. Your brother is happy. That should be enough. You will NOT interfere in his life. You act like everything that happened was Liz's fault. Has what Tess Harding simply disappeared from YOUR memory?"
"I'm not stupid! I know that whore's actions caused it, but you would think that after it came out in the media, she would have contacted him. Elizabeth Parker is a cold-hearted bitch. She does not deserve MY brother."
"Don't mess with Liz! I'm warning you Isabel."
Isabel huffed. "Fine Mother! She'd just better NEVER treat him like shit again!"
~~~
Liz looked at Max as they stood outside the wedding chapel in Las Vegas. "Are you sure you don't want to get married now? We could do it secretly. Not tell anyone until we have the big ceremony in June. We can be like, 'Surprise!'"
He kissed his ring on her left hand. "As much as I would love to drag you into a tacky Elvis chapel and marry you, we're not ready."
She sighed. "You're no fun." She pouted.
"I do have an idea though. Wanna hear it?"
"I guess." She feigned interest.
"After Michael and Maria get married, let's fly to LA and visit my folks."
Liz thought about it for a couple of minutes. Then she nodded. "Okay, I guess. I could call my boss and take the week off. I mean as long as I'm there I might as well see about lining up guests for the benefit."
"That's cool."
Michael and Maria joined them.
"We're next." Michael told them.
After Michael and Maria were married, Max bought them a bottle of Dom to toast their new adventure as a married couple. Then the newlyweds hopped a jet to a private island and Max and Liz flew to LA.
Max called his parents before they left Vegas and Diane picked them up from the airport.
"Liz, you look wonderful."
"Thank you, Mrs. Evans. It's really good to see you again."
"I just want both of you to know that I wish you all the best. You deserve all the happiness you get."
"Thanks Mom." Max kissed his mother's cheek.
Forty-five minutes later, Diane pulled into Max's gated driveway. "Your father and I expect to see you at lunch tomorrow. Oh, and don't worry about food. I had Martha go shopping and stock your fridge and pantry."
"You're the best Mom. I don't know what I'd do without you."
She kissed her son. "Starve, my baby boy. I've got to get back to the office. Liz, welcome back."
"Thank you, Mrs. Evans. It's good to be back."
Once they gathered their bags from the car and waved good-bye to Diane, they walked un the steps of Max's house. He had purchased the 25,000 sq. ft. Ranch style home when he turned eighteen. Everyone thought that he was acting spoiled and immature when he bought it, but he wasn't. Even then he was planning on marrying Liz and starting a family.
Liz sighed. "I still love this porch."
He unlocked the door, walked in and disarmed the security system. "Come on in and make yourself at home. Everything's the same as it was the last time you were here."
She entered the house she hadn't been in in five years. Taking a deep breath, she sighed again. "It smells exactly the same."
"Yeah, well, like I said, everything's the same.'
Liz strolled into the living room. She remembered his reaction when she picked out the furniture.
***"Don't you think it's a little too ... girlie?"
"Max, your living room is where you gather, entertain..." The teenage girl shook her head. "Look, why don't you decorate the game room, the den and your bedroom and I'll take care of the rest of the house."
"Liz, it's MY house!"
She wrapped her arms around her boyfriend's waist. "Yes, it is, but I'm gonna be spending a lot of time there. Don't you want me to be comfortable?"
He put his forehead against hers. "Okay." His lips then found hers. "Think you'll be stayin' any nights with me?"
Liz blew out a deep breath out of her nose as she looked into his eyes. "Max, you know I love you .... but I'm only fifteen. I'm not ready to take that step yet."
Max nodded and kissed her forehead. "I know. And I'm not gonna pressure you. It's just because..."
"You're an eighteen year old boy/man and your hormones make you do and say stupid things." She finished for him.
"Exactly." His lips sought out hers once more.***
Liz looked at the furniture again. "This IS girlie, isn't it?"
Max wrapped his arms around her "This girlie furniture kept me sober for the last five years." He kissed her. "Come on. Let's go get settled."
He grabbed both of their bags and she followed him out of the living room and up the stairs to his bedroom.
"Whoa! Talk about a time warp." Everything in Max's room was exactly where it was the last time she'd been there. The clothes he'd stripped from her body that night were still on the large wooden chest at the end of the bed and the calendar on the wall was the last one that she'd shot. It was dated March five years earlier.
"Yeah, I, uh, I kinda haven't slept in here since our first time. The maid has specific instructions to clean the room but put everything back exactly where she found it."
Liz stroked the side of his face. "That is so pathetically sweet." She kissed him and then pulled him to the bed.
"Wha... what are you doing?"
"Making this room happy again." Her fingers nimbly unfastened the buttons on his shirt.
When Max realized what she was doing, he began to divest Liz of her clothing as well. Completely naked, he lifted her onto the bed and then joined her.
Their arms wrapped around each other and their bodies were quickly becoming one.
"I love you, Liz." He told her before he filled her with his manhood.
"Oh Max!" She arched into him and then her legs drew higher up his body, allowing him deeper.
His rhythm was a slow steady pace. Both enjoying the feeling of their love making. There was no rush.
"Ooh yeah! That's so good! God Liz, you're so tight."
She closed her eyes and let her body be taken over by him making love to her. Soon, the slowness was becoming somewhat annoying and her need for completion was becoming more urgent. "Faster Max! Faster!" Her demands were made in a throaty whisper.
Max complied.
~~~
Isabel unlocked her brother's front door and entered his house.
"Max? Are you here? I'm here to offer an olive branch." She looked around. "Max? ... Liz?" She growled. "Maybe they're upstairs."
~~~
Their bodies were slapping together searching for their final release.
When Isabel walked through the open door, they did.
"Oh My God!" She was in shock. "What the hell are you doing?!"
Max collapsed on top of Liz. "Dammit Isabel, get the fuck outta here!"
She did, slamming the door behind her.
Liz put her hands over her face. "Please tell me that didn't just happen."
Max smiled down at her. "That didn't just happen."
"Liar."
Isabel Evans-Whitman sat in the back of a limo arguing with her mother on the phone. "No Mother, I will not calm down! This is the most idiotic decision Max has ever made! Elizabeth Parker ripped his heart out. Has that fact simply disappeared from everyone's memories?"
Diane was beyond put out with her oldest child. "Isabel Amanda Evans, you listen to me, young lady. Your brother is happy. That should be enough. You will NOT interfere in his life. You act like everything that happened was Liz's fault. Has what Tess Harding simply disappeared from YOUR memory?"
"I'm not stupid! I know that whore's actions caused it, but you would think that after it came out in the media, she would have contacted him. Elizabeth Parker is a cold-hearted bitch. She does not deserve MY brother."
"Don't mess with Liz! I'm warning you Isabel."
Isabel huffed. "Fine Mother! She'd just better NEVER treat him like shit again!"
Liz looked at Max as they stood outside the wedding chapel in Las Vegas. "Are you sure you don't want to get married now? We could do it secretly. Not tell anyone until we have the big ceremony in June. We can be like, 'Surprise!'"
He kissed his ring on her left hand. "As much as I would love to drag you into a tacky Elvis chapel and marry you, we're not ready."
She sighed. "You're no fun." She pouted.
"I do have an idea though. Wanna hear it?"
"I guess." She feigned interest.
"After Michael and Maria get married, let's fly to LA and visit my folks."
Liz thought about it for a couple of minutes. Then she nodded. "Okay, I guess. I could call my boss and take the week off. I mean as long as I'm there I might as well see about lining up guests for the benefit."
"That's cool."
Michael and Maria joined them.
"We're next." Michael told them.
Part 9
Part 9
After getting semi-dressed, Max made his way down the stairs and into the living room where his pissed off sister was pacing.
"Before you start bitching me out, let me remind you that this is MY house and I was in MY bedroom with MY fiancee!"
Isabel calmed herself. "Max, I didn't come over here to start trouble. I came here to make peace."
He shook his head in disbelief. "Yeah, sure, right. Why don't you tell me the truth!"
"I am." She said through gritted teeth.
"Sister mine, I know you, remember? You still hold a grudge for something that happened when I was in kindergarten. Now, tell me the real reason you're here."
"Fine! I'm here to talk some sense int you. Honestly Max, it's been five years and she knew NOTHING about one of the biggest scandals that has rocked Hollywood in years? It made international headlines!"
"I didn't read a single newspaper or watched television for a year and a half after I left. Max's face was everywhere back then promoting different projects and I just couldn't ... Isabel, I was eighteen. If you had seen what I saw and after what your brother and I shared, just hours before ... I was shattered."
Isabel hadn't heard Liz come down the stairs or enter the living room. She was dressed in a loose fitting t-shirt and a pair of baggy shorts. Her hair was pulled up into a loose ponytail.
"You were shattered? How the hell do you think Max was? He had NO idea why you left him!"
"Stop it Isabel!" Max shouted. "You have no right speaking to her that way!"
"No right? You're my brother!"
"I'm 26 years old! I can make my own decision! My decision is to be with the woman I love!"
"You're an idiot!"
Max was on the other side of being pissed. "You know, Iz, the way you're acting is exactly why you and Alex split back then. You just don't know when to quit!"
"At least after the breakup, my career didn't go down the toilet!"
"Get out of my house! Learn some manners or don't come back!"
Liz put her hand on his arm. "Max, stop. Don't do this." Her voice wasn't more than a whisper.
Max felt his mood lighten.
"God, Max, you are pathetic." His sister sneered.
"Just leave." He pointed to the door.
"Fine." She turned and left.
"I'm sorry." Liz said softly.
He wrapped his arms around her. "No, baby, that had nothing to do with you. Isabel was just being the bitch she always is. Besides, it's not like the two of you were friends before the Tess thing happened."
She nodded against his chest.
~~~
"I invited your sister and Alex, but she's PMSing." Diane shook her head. "I love my daughter, but I have no idea how Alex puts up with her."
Philip laughed. "So Liz, how are Jeff and Nancy?"
"Fine. They're in Hawaii right now celebrating their 25th anniversary."
"How wonderful." Diane sighed. "Philip and I never have the time to go anywhere anymore."
"That's what my parents always say which is the reason the trip was a gift from me. It's the only way I could get them to take a vacation."
The doorbell rand. When Max opened it, he was shocked at whome he found.
"Isabel! Alex! I thought you weren't coming."
Alex nudged his wife through the door. "Well, I haven't seen Liz in forever and Isabel has something she wants to say to the two of you. Don't you dear?"
"I suppose." She sighed gruffly. "I'm sorry for the way I acted yesterday and for what I said." She apolgized unconvincingly.
"Whatever Iz. But you'd better NEVER treat Liz like that again."
Liz's face flushed. She knew Max's sister wasn't sincere.
Alex approached his long lost friend and hugged her. "It is so good to see you Lizzie. I missed you."
She smiled. "I've missed you too. Max told me that your business is really taking off."
"Yeah, well, you know me, once a computer geek always a computer geek. It also doesn't hurt to have a famous dad as a backer either." He laughed. Diane tells me you're a teacher now."
"Sure am. I adore my job, Alex."
"So, I guess if someone was to tell you that they were in preproduction on a reunion sequel to A Child to Remember you wouldn't even consider it."
Liz looked at Max and he shrugged. She then turned her attention back to Alex. "What are you talking about?"
Alex motioned for her and Max to have a seat. "My dad was approached a couple of years ago to co-write it. He's been looking for the original cast. So whadda ya think? Both of you?"
"Uh..." They said together.

Part 10
Part 10
Lying in bed that night, Liz stared at Max as he read the script Alex's dad messengered over.
He looked at her. "What?"
"Nothing." She sighed.
He continued reading and she continued staring at him.
"Baby, that's really annoying." He glanced over his glasses at her. "Why are you staring at me?"
"It's just ... you look really sexy in glasses. How long have you worn them?"
"Since I was sixteen. But I've always worn contacts."
Liz bit her bottom lip. "What a shame."
"What?"
She pulled the scropt from his hands and straddled him. "If you'd have worn these when we were together back then, I wouldn't have made you wait as long as I did." Her lips crashed onto his.
"Damn hindsight." He kissed her. "You know, we have a love scene."
She sat up and picked up the discarded script. "Where?"
"Page 167."
She flipped through the pages. Finding it, she read. When she was done, she put the script on the nightstand, removed Max's glasses and put them on top of the script. Looking down at him, she licked her lips. "I really think we should rehearse this ... a lot."
He grinned. "You do, do you?"
"Uh huh." She nodded.
"Who am I to argue?"
~~~
Two days later, Max and Liz sat in Alex's dad's study.
"So, what did you think of the script?" Charles Whitman asked.
"It's incredible. It really compliments the original movie." Liz smiled.
"Thank you, Lizzie. I really tried to stay true to the characters. What do you think Max?"
"Well..." He paused. "I guess if I have to spend the entire shoot kissing the woman I love, I can make that sacrifice."
Liz elbowed him.
Charles laughed. "I'll take that as positive feedback."
"Seriously, it is incredible. When do you think we'll start?"
"Originally, they wanted to start production May 1st, but I told them if they wanted the two of you, they'd have to wait until July."
Liz sighed. "Thank you. What's the projected length of the shoot?"
"Eight months to a year."
Her face fell.
"Is that a problem?" Charles asked.
Tears stung her eyes as she shook her head. "No ... I ... uh... I'll have to quit my job instead of just taking a leave of absence."
"No you won't. We'll be shooting forty-five minutes from your hometown. Your scenes will be shot on weekends with the occasional weekday thrown in in which the studio will pay for any inconvience that will cause your school by having to hire a substitute."
The tears fell. "Thank you. That means so much to me."
Charles nodded. "Now, our next order of business is to get the two of you representation. I've spoken to my agent and he's offered to pick the both of you up. Managenment is a different story. Liz, Nancy was your manager, will she continue in that capacity?"
"Most likely. She'll be back Sunday from Hawaii. I'll talk to her about it then."
"What about you, Max?"
Max scratched the side of his face. "Considering the crap I made the last few years, I think it's best if I start over with a clean slate."
"Not a problem. Maggie's started a new management firm. Nothing like a little nepotism." Charles laughed. Maggie was his oldest daughter from his first marriage.
Max nodded in agreement.
"When are you going back?"
"Saturday." Liz answered. "I have to get back to work."
Charles nodded and picked up his phone and dialed. "Hi Betty. It's Charles Whitman. Is Marvin available? ... Yes, I'll hold. ... Marv! Guess who I've got sitting in front of me right now? ... Better. Max and Elizabeth. ... No, I'm serious. Listen. Lizzie has to leave on Saturday so we're gonna need those contracts written no later than Friday. ... They are? Great! Why don't you just messenger them to the house ASAP and we'll get this ball rolling." He hung up. "The contracts should be here in an hour."
Liz suddenly felt a little nervous. "Is ... isn't that a little fast. I know I've been out of the loop for five years but aren't contracts normally written after a long series of meetings? At least that's how I remember it."
"You don't have to sign anything yet." Charles assured her. "Alex informed me of your new life and your future plans so I talked to Marvin Steinberg at the studio and Peter Martin, my agent and they had their legals put together drafts."
Liz's face showed a series of emotions.
Max rubbed the back of her hand with his thumb. "Baby, what are you thinking?"
"How different my life is going to be. All the questions that reporters are going to ask me about where I've been ... why I left." She looked at Max. "What do I tell them?"
He squeezed her hand. "The truth. What happened sucks but if we lie about it, the truth would get out anyway."
Charles nodded in agreement. "That's the best way to go about it. It will also make great press. Now, about this benefit of yours." He changed the subject. "Here's a list of people I have who have inked that weekend. All I did was mention your name, Lizzie, and they jumped at the chance to help you."
Liz looked at the names on the list she'd been handed. "This is practically everyone I've ever worked with."
"What can I say? You truly are the child remembered."
~~~
Liz put the phone back on the receiver. "They're reserving the two best hotels in town. Hollywood's in for a rude awakening when they hit my little hometown."
Max chuckled. "Most of Hollywood's from little hometowns. Hell, I'm from Roswell, New Mexico."
She smiled. "Like I said when I was sixteen, it explains why you're so spacey." She stuck her tongue out at him.
He pulled her onto his lap. "And do you remember what I did when you said that?"
"You wouldn't dare!"
He gave her a sexy half smile and then began tickling her unmercifully.
She was laughing hysterically. "Max!" She squealed.
Falling to the side and lying on the couch, Max's body was soon on top of hers.
Breathing heavily, Liz looked up into his eyes and smiled sexily. "Here we are again."
"But this time you're not sixteen and I'm not a horny nineteen year old."
She giggled. "No, you're a horny twenty-six year old. ... And I love you ... as much as I did then."
His lips crashed down on hers.
No more words were spoken, clothes were shed and bodies were joined.

Tears stung her eyes as she shook her head. "No ... I ... uh... I'll have to quit my job instead of just taking a leave of absence."
"No you won't. We'll be shooting forty-five minutes from your hometown. Your scenes will be shot on weekends with the occasional weekday thrown in in which the studio will pay for any inconvience that will cause your school by having to hire a substitute."
The tears fell. "Thank you. That means so much to me."
Charles nodded. "Now, our next order of business is to get the two of you representation. I've spoken to my agent and he's offered to pick the both of you up. Managenment is a different story. Liz, Nancy was your manager, will she continue in that capacity?"
"Most likely. She'll be back Sunday from Hawaii. I'll talk to her about it then."
"What about you, Max?"
Max scratched the side of his face. "Considering the crap I made the last few years, I think it's best if I start over with a clean slate."
"Not a problem. Maggie's started a new management firm. Nothing like a little nepotism." Charles laughed. Maggie was his oldest daughter from his first marriage.
Max nodded in agreement.
"When are you going back?"
"Saturday." Liz answered. "I have to get back to work."
Charles nodded and picked up his phone and dialed. "Hi Betty. It's Charles Whitman. Is Marvin available? ... Yes, I'll hold. ... Marv! Guess who I've got sitting in front of me right now? ... Better. Max and Elizabeth. ... No, I'm serious. Listen. Lizzie has to leave on Saturday so we're gonna need those contracts written no later than Friday. ... They are? Great! Why don't you just messenger them to the house ASAP and we'll get this ball rolling." He hung up. "The contracts should be here in an hour."
Liz suddenly felt a little nervous. "Is ... isn't that a little fast. I know I've been out of the loop for five years but aren't contracts normally written after a long series of meetings? At least that's how I remember it."
"You don't have to sign anything yet." Charles assured her. "Alex informed me of your new life and your future plans so I talked to Marvin Steinberg at the studio and Peter Martin, my agent and they had their legals put together drafts."
Liz's face showed a series of emotions.
Max rubbed the back of her hand with his thumb. "Baby, what are you thinking?"
"How different my life is going to be. All the questions that reporters are going to ask me about where I've been ... why I left." She looked at Max. "What do I tell them?"
He squeezed her hand. "The truth. What happened sucks but if we lie about it, the truth would get out anyway."
Charles nodded in agreement. "That's the best way to go about it. It will also make great press. Now, about this benefit of yours." He changed the subject. "Here's a list of people I have who have inked that weekend. All I did was mention your name, Lizzie, and they jumped at the chance to help you."
Liz looked at the names on the list she'd been handed. "This is practically everyone I've ever worked with."
"What can I say? You truly are the child remembered."

Once again I'm sorry for such a long delay. Thanks for hanging in there with me.
