chapter 10,11 july 9

Post by ken_r »

Forgive me but i didn't respond to the Feedback from last week. The comments were important so please let me respont to both last week and those of this week at the same time.

Michelle in Yonkers No I worried about that wording after I posted it. I finished up the canon fic You Can’t Go Back to Yesterday. I started a new canon called Isabel

Michelle I also questioned Liz taking up with Sean. He had nothing to offer but the fact that he was a rebel. See what I wrote to Natalie36 below. I didn’t like Sean and that is the reason I used his name for the bad guy. Majandra seems to prefer the actor who played Sean to Brenden. There are references as to why but I always thought the actor of Sean played to his own character.

Roswell3053 As far as I could tell as the story developed, Max was still in his training when he was invited to leave in the trunk. He hadn’t made much path in the established vampire community. He couldn’t remember Isabel or anyone outside of his mother and father. Michael would have been an adult while Max was still trying to mature. They in all probability wouldn’t have known each other. Max had met Isabel so he now knew what it felt like to be in the presence of another vampire.

It must be Max who rescues Liz. Michael back up his historical statements about Vampires. That is why Maria had to get across the Max Michael connection with out arousing the jealousy of Michael. Max is prepared to go against the elders.

L-J-L 76 I just hope I can continue to hold your interest.

Roslover39 Max knew that Pam was going to be a handful from the first. He also knew that she would break though any modifications he made in her life. He had stated that he hoped she would be different even after her personality re-emerged, because essentially he was bringing improvements to her life.

I want to remind everyone that sex to Max is just a favor to the women he is with. Unless he finally completely falls in love sex has little meaning to Max. To Max his time with Maria was just a friendly gesture. It is clear that she felt it was much more, at least until she met Michael.

So many stories talk about commitment of males. I usually avoid this because I believe strongly in commitment. Max at this time probably is slightly afraid of commitment. That may be why he avoids to close of a contact with Liz.

The sensuality of a vampire probably does start as a hunger so your analogy of choices of meat is good. The continued supply of this delectable commodity probably contributes greatly to the initiation of romance in him. Of course by this time the woman will be completely in the throws of love.

The saving of Liz was initiated by Maria’s love for her friend. It was Maria who kicked behind and made Max at least try something.

Natalie36 No dumber than the Valadictorian in my class who started dating the school bad boy. Topolisky, in the first season remarked how some truly smart girls have poor choices of boyfriends. I at least like to believe that is the shyness of some nice guys that makes them not seen by so many girls. At least that justifies my life when i was young.

Max/Jason luver Liz is great but she is vulnerable also. Max is inexperienced and also still questioning how he completely feels about Liz. the intelligence of all the characters developed in Roswell is what drew me to the story when I was recuperating from a depression.

New Chapter 10

Earlier that afternoon: Liz’s boss called her into his office. “Liz, you know what I think about that silly title you insist on using. Well, maybe, I have found you somewhere to use it. My wife’s cousin told her about a marvelous man she met. My wife and I both think she is a klutz, but according to her story there is a man who is standing the singles world on its collective ear. Women swear, that a night with him exceeds any other man they have ever been with. There are reports, again, according to the cousin that women will do anything he says to just spend the night with him.”

“Yeah, boss I know. His name is Max. I have been trying to track him for several weeks now. I have a file on him, but no story yet. I have several first hand witnesses who have been recipients of his love, but all they will say is that he is a kind and masterful lover.” Liz stated as she consulted the small notebook she always carried.

The old editor frowned, “Are we talking about the same man? The one our cousin is talking about is pretty rough. Several of the women he has been with have been reported to be seriously ill. This doesn’t make any difference because they still line up for him every night. The name our cousin gave was Sean.”

It was Liz’s time to frown. She really couldn’t see the man who had been so kind to Maria and who Tess spoke of with such fondness as hurting the women he was with. The times Liz had been around Max, he seemed to be a gentleman of the old school. He had admitted that he originally had come from Europe. He also said that his parents had a great deal of credit for how he acted. A man who speaks well of his mother would not be cruel to women, at least the way Liz would see it.

The editor smiled. He had started the young woman off. She was an excellent writer and with this incentive he was sure she would return with a good story. Liz called Maria, but Maria stated that she already had a date with Michael. Liz had appraised how close Michael and Maria were getting. She wouldn’t want to get in Maria’s way. Oh, Well, Liz was a big girl. It wasn’t as if she couldn’t take care of herself. She wanted to attract this Sean, if possible, so she dressed in a strapless black dress. In a way, Liz needed to give her ego a boost. Max had taken home dozens of women. It seemed that he had only to meet a woman, dance a few times and then they went to her home to make glorious love, at least according to the reports of the women later. Max had been around her several times. They had only danced once or twice. When they were dancing, she had noticed that Max held her as if she might break. Watching him with other women, she saw him holding them close to himself. Later she would see him in the shadows showering what ever woman he was with at the time with kisses. Why hadn’t he made a play for her? Liz wasn’t conceited, but she was as good looking as most of the women he was with and better than some. Was there something about her that Max was afraid of?

Liz appeared at one of the larger clubs noted to be a hangout for singles. She danced a few times with a few men. They tried to make a play for her, but she gently refused them. She always told them she was waiting for a friend.

Liz was dancing with a very nice man whose wife was, at the moment also dancing, with a friend. The man was pleasant and he had made it clear from the start that a dance was all he wanted. They even circled the couple who he pointed out. The woman was his wife. It was a pleasant diversion. Liz didn’t have to prepare any excuse to fend off any advances. Maybe, because she was relaxed, she suddenly found herself in the arms of an older man. Liz was one of those women who usually only went with men about her own age. The man was dignified and tall. Well, tall was a relative word because Liz was only about five foot two inches tall. They danced several sets. Then as she was tiring, he suggested they sit down. He introduced himself as Sean. This was the man Liz wanted to interview. Liz asked him about his name. He just smiled, “Just Sean. My last name wouldn’t matter. I have only recently come to these shores and I am still learning the way of this country.”

Liz had taken out her notebook. Her first question: “Sean, what do you think of American women?”

“I find them delicious.” He stated and Liz could almost swear he smacked his lips.

As she was thinking up her questions, Liz was asking herself. What do women see in him? He was handsome in a mature sort of a way. He was definitely not her type. She formulated her next question: “What are you looking for in American women?”

“I am looking for the rarest of flowers in American women. When I find her, I shall take her for my own and she will be mine to her death.” This was kind of a scary statement from Sean.

“Have you found her yet?” Liz was staying on course but Sean bothered her. Why did he keep looking at her so intensely.

“Yes, I might have found her. Now I must convince her to come with me.” Sean was still looking at Liz. When he took both her hands in his, Liz flinched. Sean’s hands were sweaty and damp. Before she could withdraw them, the sweat began to work its magic. Liz sat her notebook down. She just couldn’t keep her mind on what she was doing. This wonderful man was holding her hands and all she could think of was how could she make him happy. Sean was almost 2,000 years old. His secretions were potent indeed. Sean extended his hand and Liz, forgetting all about her notebook, stood and danced with him. Liz was resting her head against his chest. Sean was kissing her forehead with his wet lips. Every kiss sent Liz into ecstasy. This was the man she had been looking for her whole life. She heard him whisper. “Yes, Little One, you are a rare delicacy. Tonight, we will feast at the joy of our union.”

Liz didn’t understand a single thing he said. Somewhere in her mind there was a sane part. She had come to find Sean and she had found him. Now, it appeared she would also experience what so many women were talking about. The part about him hurting several women, never made its way into her conscious mind. For some reason, she thought of Max. Well, he hadn’t even made a play for her favors and she had brazenly offered them several times.

As they danced, Sean bent and he licked her shoulder and neck. It was all he could do to not take her right there. That would not suit his plans. Sean knew all about Max and he wanted to taunt him. Max had been cruising the singles and he was so gentle with the women. This angered Sean. He was only gentle when he wanted to be. Most of the time, he saw women as just a place to feed as he had done for 2,000 years He had little care for them or their health. Now, the morsel he had in his arms was a true treasure. He just couldn’t understand why the other males had left her alone for so long.

Liz was having a battle within herself. The main part of her being was thrilled that she had finally met the man of her life. It even created fantasies of being carried off to exotic lands and treated to exotic sexual experiences. The small part that was still the reporter was vainly trying to fight its way into her conscious thought. His kisses on her neck were the most exhilarating feeling she had known. It took all her will power to not rip her clothes off right on the dance floor and offer herself to him there.

Sean whispered, “Liz, we need to meet your friends. Lets go.”

Liz dutifully picked up her wrap and, leaving her most precious notebook fluttering on the table, they left. Once at the club where Max, Michael and Maria were at, Sean stepped back and Liz almost automatically led the way. Sean could feel joy in himself at the dismay of the two male vampires at the table. The woman sitting with them would make a desert if he had had more time. Sean noted with a smile how the woman arranged to separate Liz from the group. Sean didn’t care. Liz was too far gone now for anyone to stop her. He had to laugh at the pathetic attempt at the two males to save the delectable little AB-Negative.

Liz felt annoyed at Maria for taking her away from Sean. When Maria tried to tell her that Sean was dangerous, Liz looked for a reason why Maria would interfere with the happiness Liz would be anticipating from the ministrations of Sean. Liz knew that Maria was completely sold on Michael so she looked elsewhere. The elsewhere was Max. For some reason, Max wouldn’t take her to his bed. That was his business, but now through Maria, Max was trying to keep her from enjoying the wonderful man, Sean. There was a warning when Maria unwrapped her neck to show her hickey. The juices that Sean had placed on her neck rebelled at anything which might limit her time with him. That story about vampires was the frosting on the cake. All parts of Liz, both conscious and subconscious, rebelled at this fanciful story. It must be just another ploy to prohibit Liz from getting the love and sensations that others had gotten and were getting. The frustration within Liz of her mental battlefield made her angry. She directed this anger first to Maria and, then, to Max. When she flounced out of the club with the statement that she would do what she wanted, it wasn’t Liz talking. It was something else.

Chapter 11

Maria hurried back to her table to see the two men dejected. “What did she do?” she cried.

Michael said, “What did you expect? She went with him. She thinks we are jealous of her and she is showing us that she will do as she wants.”

Maria sat crying with her head in her hands. “What are we going to do? She is my best friend. We just can’t loose her. She looked up. Maybe he will not kill her. You know, like you do. He will just feed and leave her to get well. We can all help her back to health.”

Max and Michael both shook their heads. They both knew vampires like Sean. He was greedy. He, also, didn’t want anyone else to have what he had. He would take everything Liz had and there was nothing they could do about it.

Maria suddenly took one of the wooden chairs and smashed it against the floor. The chair splintered. She quickly picked up two of the rungs which held the legs apart. “We could do like Buffy. We could stake him through the heart.”

Max looked up, “Maria, Buffy is a TV show. How do we know this would work? Vampires don’t go around killing vampires.”

Maria grabbed Max by his lapels. “Look, Mr. Maximillian, or whatever your name is. This may be the only chance we have. Vampires better go to killing vampires if the second vampire is endangering the whole species. Long time ago, they didn’t have any scientific tools. Now, if they start studying women who are anemic and piece their stories together there will be a witchhunt like you never saw. If forensics looks closely at the spittle you guys have, they are going to see things that they never believed existed. Sean has to be stopped. Where did the stupid writers get the idea of stakes in the first place. There has to be some truth to the legend!”

Max took the two pieces of wood. He felt like a fool, but he also knew that he would do anything to stop Sean from killing Liz. Michael and Maria started to get up, also. “No, this must be my job. When the elders hear of this, let it be on my shoulders alone. Michael, pay for the chair and I will see you later. Maria have hope for me. If I do not succeed, I do not want to come back and live either.

Maria had given him directions to Liz’s apartment. He hurried as quickly and as unobtrusively as only a vampire can. Of course, it was a locked apartment, one where you had to call to get the door opened. Fortunately, locks were never a deterrent to such as Max. He waited until there was no one near the door. Max went up and quickly opened the lock. He looked at the paper Maria had given him. Liz was on the fourth floor.

Liz had leaned against Sean as they proceeded to go to her apartment. Every once in a while, he would lean over and kiss her neck. His kisses were wet, but the feeling just after each kiss was heavenly. As they got to her door, Liz took out her keys and unlocked the door. She entered but Sean waited just outside. She looked at him and he answered her look with, “You have to invite me in.” Sean loved to play the fables of the old school.

Liz looked at him and reaching for his arm, she said, “Sean please come in. If I hadn’t wanted you, I wouldn’t have brought you here.”

She took Sean’s hand and led him into her bedroom. The lights were dim and Sean began to kiss and lick her neck. He removed her clothes and laid her out on the bed. The only places he touched were on her neck and shoulders. Liz was feeling a sort of paralysis. Sean was not filling her head with dreams. Why bother? She would soon be dead. He was not making love to her. Again, it was why bother? He wasn’t going to come back to her. He really didn’t care about how she felt. Sean wanted her sedated just enough to not fight as he began to remove all of her delicious blood. Sean intended to do this slowly. Few times in a lifetime, that is a vampire’s lifetime, would he have a chance to feast on AB-Negative.

Liz felt funny. She couldn’t move. Her limbs felt stiff and heavy. Sean had stopped the kissing and licking, but he didn’t appear to be going to make love to her. He had taken off all of her clothes, but he had removed only his jacket and shirt. He had not even given any indication that he was going to remove his pants. He was massaging her right shoulder right near the neck. He was tapping her skin like the nurse does when she is trying to find a vein to take blood. Oh my god! That is exactly what he was going to do. Maria had been right. Sean was a vampire and he was going to take her blood. If Maria was right about the other things, he was going to take all of her blood. Her eyes were wide with fright. Sean looked at her and laughed. Her fright was the adrenalin that kept him going. Adrenalin in her blood would make it even better. He was going to do this slowly. He intended for her to last until morning. Sean jumped up. Liz couldn’t see what had caught his attention. She heard him shouting, but her mind was too befuddled to understand what he was saying.

Max found his way to her room. It also was locked. Max had to take his time with this lock because he didn’t want to alert those inside. Max opened the door. He was in the living room. He ran to the only other door, with the exception of the kitchen, that led off the living room. He threw open the door. Liz was stretched naked on the bed. She was paralyzed, but Max could see that she was only partially paralyzed. Sean was intending for her to see him taking her blood. Sean was leaning over her shoulder fixing to bite down on her neck. Sean stood up and looked at Max.

“Oh, so silly a one! Watching too much TV obviously. Buffy may use the stakes, but they do not really work. That is just another myth about our species. Wait your turn and I might let you have a taste of this delectable one. She is small, but the blood she has will be a memory to last forever.” Sean was so sure of himself.

Max leapt. He plunged the stake into the chest. Once he had done this he reached behind his belt and got the second stake. He also pushed it into the creatures chest. Sean was in the middle of a laugh when a surprised look appeared on his face and he melted to a large pile of dust. Yes, the stakes were just a TV prop and things gleaned from legend, but the toxins from the varnish on the chair rungs and the biologicals that had collected from 20 years of having shoes dragging over them were not legend. They did Sean in immediately. Even with his ability to dissolve most pathogens what ever was found on the dance floor of the club was just too much for him. The filth that humans walk through every day was more than any diseases of amour that a vampire of his age could handle. Maybe it was some combination of that and the cheap varnish used on the chair.

Now, Liz could see Max. He took a robe and covered her nakedness. Slowly the paralysis began to fade. Soon, she could move her limbs. Max turned around and she put on the robe. Liz was sitting on her bed trying to get her thoughts together.

Max handed her, her cell phone. “Call Maria and Michael. They will be worried,” he said.

After the call, she looked at Max. “Then everything Maria said was true, wasn’t it?”

“Yes, I am sure whatever she told you was true.” Max replied.

“You and Michael are vampires and Sean was going to kill me?” she inquired.

“Yes, I am afraid so. Maria and Michael have developed a lasting relationship, which may last hundreds of years. Sean was a very greedy man. He wanted you and he wanted no one else to ever have you.” Max returned.

What about you, Max? Now that Sean is gone, what are you going to do?” Liz was looking at him with a little fear in her eyes.

“I am going to do nothing. I will have to go before the elders of the vampires. I hope you will not write anything about what has happened. I do not know what the elders will do to me. I have one advocate and she is very powerful,” Max stated. He seemed to be missing her meaning.

Liz frowned, “There is no evidence, and I am not sure anyone would believe me. Your advocate, is she like a former lover or something?”

Max chuckeled, “More like a sister, but she is very smart and powerful.”

What about me? Liz asked, this time making her inquiry more direct, “What are you going to do about me?”

“What do you mean, Liz? What do you want me to do about you?” Max inquired.

“Well, you just fought over me. Am I not the spoils or something of a battle. Are you not tempted to feed on me or in some way use me?” Liz questioned with a fearful smile.

“Liz, this isn’t a joke. It is serious. I just killed one of my species. I have to face the elders who rule those like me. Liz, you are free to go with one exception. I am going to have to assume responsibility for you when vampires are concerned. That is going to be my only defense when they question me.” Max was fixing to leave.

Maria and Michael arrived. They came in just as Max left. “Tell me every thing I need to know about vampires, Michael.” Liz ordered.

“You should stay away from them. Your blood is too tempting.” Michael said.

Max said he was going to assume responsibility for me in things that concern vampires. What does that mean?” Liz inquired.

It means he is giving up a lot of things for you. If he assumes responsibility for you, that means Sean was stealing from him and killing Sean will not look so bad. Taking responsibility for you means Max can’t move in with some other woman. He can still have one night stands, but he can never seek what Maria and I have.” Michael informed her.”

Liz frowned. It seemed that Max was, indeed, giving up a lot just to save her. “What are they going to do to him?” Liz asked.

“Well, Isabel is pretty smart and she will be helping him.” Maria stated.

Michael glared at her. Maria put her hand to her mouth. She had the same as said that Isabel was a vampire, also. “Look, Babe, don’t write any of this. Max has risked his life for you. He is giving up a lot of things for you, as long as you live. My happiness depends on nothing happening to Michael. There are a lot of people who are nice people who do not deserve to be hurt. Please promise me that you will not write about any of this!” Maria was pleading.

Max went before the board of elders. The withered old men could not resist the flirty eyes of Isabel. It was declared that Max would be responsible for Liz. He was to care for her from now until she died. Several of the elders frowned at Isabel when she witnessed that Max had declared his intensions to Liz several weeks before. It was not necessary for the woman in question to give testimony, so they finally decided that Max was dangerously close to censure, but they would let him go with a warning. It would be clear, from now on, that no vampire was to touch Liz and Max would be responsible for her health.

chapter 13 july 17

Post by ken_r »

Michelle in Yonkers I am glad you see better the reasons that Liz was with Sean. Her being with him wasn’t just the result of an arbitrary pickup. I went over this part several time until I was satisfied it was true to her character.

Yes I believe the elders would allow Sean get by to prevent dissention within the species. I made Sean of the same generation as the Elders. So many times I have found that some will condone the actions of others when they themselves were guilty of the same. The Elders if they are anything like I have experienced will be self serving. They want to preserve “Peace on Their Time.”

When I finished this story I got to thinking where is that note book it was last seen lying on some table in a bar. Wonder who got it and what had Liz recorded in it. I might add a chapter or two sometime to settle the question.

You do not know how much flack I have gotten over Liz lying there naked. From he should have jumped her when he had the chance to Max would be too much of a gentleman to not offer her chance to cover her nakedness. Nudity is a funny issue. Especially in what essentially is a love story.

Old rememberences: She wasn’t naked but she did have bedroom eyes. I was young and not until I received the gift of age did I really remember and think what she was really offering. Oh well I probably was better off way things happened. I went home.

Natalie thank you when I am in the depths of depression little words like “great part” mean a lot.

Roswell3053 thanks for encouragement. see natalie above

L-J-L 76 to answer all of your questions may take a better author than I am. To keep your interest and know that you will be there as a reader means a lot.

Chapter 12

Liz spent the next several evenings with Michael and Maria. She had millions of questions. To most of them, neither Michael nor Maria knew the answers. It was one thing to find one’s self in a relationship with a vampire and it is another to contemplate freely entering into such a liaison. After two weeks, Liz went to Maria and asked, “Can you tell Max to come to me tonight?”

Max was as nervous as he had been when he fed on his first milkmaid. He already was responsible for Liz. The elders had agreed on this as a condition to not do any thing about him killing Sean. Liz was something so special that other males would kill for her and he already had. It was 9:00 PM when he rang the buzzer in front of her apartment. Liz rang him in and he went to her door. He was sure he could remember it because it was so burned in his mind. He knocked on her door. When she opened it, she was wearing a simple gown that had a very loose collar piece. Liz was not wearing shoes. Max was not sure what she was expecting. It was so much easier when he was running a seduction because he was controlling every step of the way.

Max held Liz at arm’s length for a long time gazing into her eyes and face and, finally, her whole body. Tears came to his eyes as he thought how close she had come to death. Max had no sorrow for the demise of Sean. He was a bastard to even consider the destruction of such a creature. Max drew her to himself. He kissed her on her lips. She froze at the taste of his spittle. Max drew back, but Liz caught her self. She kissed him back forcing his lips open with her tongue. Now, when the spittle entered her mouth, she did not flinch. Max was now kissing on her on her neck. Again, Liz flinched as memories flooded her of her recent ordeal. Then, she began to receive thoughts of wonderful passion. She was feeling passions that she never had considered in her wildest imagination. Liz felt something give and she figured that Max had released the fastenings holding her gown. It fell around her feet onto the floor. Liz stepped out of the gown and Max led her to her bed. He made passionate love with Liz or, at least that was the way she remembered it. She could feel him inside her even after he had withdrawn. She felt him as he kissed her neck and shoulders. They were wet kisses like Sean had given, but they didn’t seem to paralyze her. She could still throw her arms around Max’s neck. Slowly, he mouthed her neck and she felt a prick as he made an incision. She felt him suckling her and she knew that she was giving him blood. Would Max loose control and take her completely as Sean had planned?

Max had been under as much stress as he ever remembered. When he finally sucked the blood, he made sure that Liz knew what he was doing. He didn’t want to frighten her like Sean had, but rather to tell her that she could trust her life in his hands or, rather, his lips. Max quickly produced saliva, to clot and seal the incision. He was licking her neck and it was healing quickly. No, Max had never tasted such blood as Liz had produced. He had no doubt that Sean would have taken every bit he could and not quit even after her death. Max would have to talk to Liz. Now that she was under his care, she must take care of her self. She was now living for two and if the way he felt was reciprocated, she would soon be living for three. Max moved in with her. He needed to be close to watch over her diet and make sure she was protected.

Liz didn’t fight him over anything. He chose many iron supplements. He would only feed upon her once a month. Liz was worried, at first, that this might mean he was going to other women to complete his feed. She learned about the blood bank. She felt better, even though she realized that some of her moral issues shouldn’t hold with Max and herself. There would only be one woman producing an heir and that would be her. Liz soon met and became a friends with Isabel and Alex. They, along with Michael and Maria, spent a lot of time together. There were no manuals on how to live with a vampire so they depended on each other for information. Liz was already feeling stronger. She was still a very small woman, but she was building up endurance. The monthly feeds she began to look forward to because of the thrills that it entailed. She and Max had sex regularly. It was for her benefit. Max, when feeding upon her, kept his passions totally under control, but there was nothing like AB-negative blood. He never talked to anyone about the experience. To Max, this must remain a secret between him and Liz. He did, several times, try to tell her how it felt to him as he was taking her blood. There just weren’t the proper words to describe it. When they would go to the dance clubs at first, women would try to attract his attention. They soon found that it was a waste of time. Max had no intention of following them home or even going behind the curtain with any of them. There was one time, though.

Tess had started going to dance clubs. She was quickly climbing the corporate ladder, but she was still not having any affairs at work. Trouble was, now she wasn’t having affairs anywhere. She was having a pretty dull existence. She spied Max sitting at a table and he was with that reporter she had talked with once. Tess was very pleased with the article Liz had written. It was informative and Liz put in nothing that she and Tess had declared off the record. Tess walked over to the table and Max stood up. He introduced her as a very dear friend. Liz knew what he meant when he said dear friend but she was the one living with Max and she was tolerant of his past because he was of hers now.

Max asked Tess to dance. She seemed sort of sorrowful as she leaned on Max. “Tess, I am so sorry your boyfriend didn’t work out. He just didn’t know what he was missing!” Max told her.

“No, Max, I broke it off. He was bringing more of that cocaine back into our lives. All I could think of was how bad you told me that it was for me. I told him to get out. I surely didn’t want to raise a child with drugs around. It is just that I haven’t been able to make a connection since you left. Are you able to give her what you couldn’t give me?” Tess inquired looking into his eyes.

“Yes, Tess, we are truly soul mates. We are hoping for a baby someday.” Max said.

Tess stretched up and kissed him on his lips. Max had not been expecting that and some of his spittle managed to get on her lips. “Bye, Max, I hope I find someone as good as you again. Even if it is only for a time.” Then, Tess left.

When he came back to the table, he was very quiet. Liz leaned close to him, “Do you sometimes miss Tess?” she asked.

Max answered, “No, I could never do any more for her but I wish she would find someone who could. She knows nothing about us. And she wouldn’t understand that we are soul mates and I could never have been that with her.

Liz went back to work. There were rumors that a very aggressive super stud had disappeared. Someone sent in a tip that Sean was last seen with the reporter, Liz Parker. Liz simply stated, “Yes, I met Sean, but he was not my type and we parted. There had been a mishap at her apartment and the security cameras had mal-functioned. The female part of the singles world was still upset. A reportably great lay had disappeared. Her boss questioned her, but she didn’t have anything to say. Those who had seen her with Sean that fateful evening stubbornly refused to let go. There was no evidence of fowl play. There was no evidence to link Liz beyond the fact that she had left the society affair in his company. Some had said they had seen her leave the dance club in his company. Liz remained at the center of controversy no matter how hard she tried to deflect the charges. It was exobiology that saved her. Liz turned up pregnant. She felt that it was necessary to take a leave from the paper.

Max was still troubled. He kept remembering Tess. She had been a good companion and it was not anyone’s fault that things just didn’t work out between them. Max thought, what if he had not stayed with her? Then, he remembered the cocaine. Would Tess have had the fear of the drug to send her ex boyfriend on his way? No, Max felt that his time with Tess had been beneficial to her. As far as he could tell she was still living the healthy life style that he had promoted. If Max had had any regrets, they would have been eclipsed by his liaison with AB-Negative, Miss Parker.

Chapter 13

It was Isabel who came up with a solution. Kyle Valenti had recently arrived from one of the darker countries emerging from the fall of the Soviet Union. He had a good reputation. The elders stated that he had trained under the same elder who had introduced Max into European society. Kyle had been traveling the singles and jet sets of Europe. He was desirous of settling down. Kyle had no bodies in his background. Isabel knew that if he had, Max would have refused to assist her in her plan. Kyle accepted the invitation from Isabel to come to the United States.

Isabel had been watching Tess. She knew that Max was worried about her. He rightly, couldn’t give her anything, but would someone else be able to? If nothing more, would she react to the ministrations of another vampire?

Kyle had supped on many of the famous necks of Europe. He had had many semi-permanent liaisons with several. He was becoming fatigued with the sterility of his search. Kyle was about 500 years old. He had seen a lot of women in his day. He remembered when the purges were happening. He had maintained a modest presence that did not call attention to him self. He had assumed several different identities over the years. Kyle had a quirky sense of humor. He had been a military man, a businessman, a merchant and a priest. That last had been to hide in plain sight at a monastery. He shed his robes as soon as he discovered a safe place to run. His last identity had been as a world-class soccer player. His arrival in the United States and his announcement that he was retiring to start up clinics for young players was not the way Isabel had envisioned his appearance. Isabel and Alex became his sponsors. Isabel was fixing a party to introduce Kyle into society.

Tess was surprised to receive a private and confidential invitation. Kyle would be seeking representation from a firm while he was in the United States. Isabel prefaced the invitation with the comments that she had read the article about Tess as a fresh, young woman who was rising on the corporate ladder. Isabel stated that Kyle was seeking someone who would not be filled with sterile, out dated paradigms. Tess was flattered that Liz’s article had been read by Isabel Whitman. She was pleased that Isabel would consider giving her what was, essentially, an inside track on an introduction to the athlete. The party was typical of Isabel. It has some of the biggest names in the social and political circles. Not many of them were singles, though.

Tess arrived wearing an off the shoulder sheath dress. It showed off her body and she was a stunning woman. Tess made the perfunctionary greetings as she passed down the receiving line. Isabel clasped her hands and Tess wondered what this meant. As Tess mingled, she found many men would stop and talk to her even though the were with an escort and not available. On a certain level, Tess was enjoying herself. She noticed that none of the men she usually competed with were present.

Tess’s introduction to Kyle was interesting from her stand point. Kyle was surrounded by women, both available and not. His celebrity was making sensible women forget their station in a frenzy to see, to touch and, even maybe, the chance to be fucked by him. Tess had made her introduction and then retired from the flock. Her determination to not involve her emotional life with any expression of her business life put her on the sidelines. Their wives, girlfriends and significant others following kyle, made an abundance of males with whom she enjoyed conversing, well knowing that nothing would be demanded of her. After all, even if Kyle accepted any of the challenges presented to him, there would only be one, or at the most, a very limited number of the women taken. The rest would return to their stations and escorts.

Tess, in respite, migrated to the outdoor garden that the Whitman house maintained. The night air was pure without the double entendres of the social set within the confines of the Whitman home. Even the night breeze did not cause Tess to pull the shawl she was wearing up around to cover her upper body. Kyle had excused himself from the hopefuls who had surrounded him the entire night. Isabel had suggested that he, at least, check out the executive. In that mysterious way Isabel had, she intimated that Kyle would be surprised at what he would find within the lady. Kyle, using his stealthiest of movements, quickly avoided the hoards of fans he was developing. When Kyle found himself in the garden, he saw the white dress, light skin and blonde hair of Tess. Kyle widened his vision. And, he saw that delectable throat and shoulders that enticed him even at a distance. Kyle approached without making a sound. When she sensed the presence of another Tess had to catch her self to keep from crying out. When she saw that it was Kyle, the man of the evening she put her hand to her mouth.

“Aren’t your friends going to miss you?” she asked.

He chuckled, “They will spend hours arguing who I left with. By the time they account for each other, the evening will be over, I hope.”

Tess figured she’d make the best use of this time she had been allotted with the athlete. “What made a successful person pickup and leave the crowds of Europe?” she asked.

“I am searching for something that I can’t find there.” He replied.

“Exactly what are you searching for?” she again asked.

“What we are all searching for. What about you, Tess? You are a successful CEO. You would appear to have it all. Yet, I sense that you are searching, also. I now know that I am searching for my place in the universe. I could not find it in Europe. I will not find it inside with the crowds and their clamoring for my body and, maybe, even for my talents. So I seek the tranquility of the garden and, by chance, I meet a damsel not tainted by the required fads of society.” Kyle intoned with his almost musical poetry.

Tess giggled, “I am afraid I am years from being a damsel any longer. I do tire of the trappings of the social swirl. I am not really sure why Isabel invited me to this thing. I see none of those against whom I would compete. I am trying to figure my place in the universe of Isabel Whitman,” Tess related.

“You are a damsel and in your presence, I sense the power of your charms.” Kyle coughed. Under the guise of this cough, he licked his finger tips. “I find your beauty, and the fact that you are not pushing yourself upon me, refreshing,” Kyle placed his hand on her bare shoulder. His touch was electrifying to her. Tess closed her eyes going back in her memories to who else had that magical touch. She had all but given up ever having that pleasure again. With her eyes still closed, Kyle bent forward and kissed her lips. The saliva from his tongue attacked her system. It flooded her with feelings, but she could no longer tell from where she identified them. Kyle pulled her face toward himself. His mouth sought hers and his tongue forced open her lips as his spittle mingled with hers, creating that wonderful sense of wellbeing. Tess melted in his arms. The little rational part of her mind wondered how she could ever, again, enjoy this bliss.

Kyle’s wet lips circled her face and were planted on her bosom finally resting on her beautiful shoulders and gracing her delectable neck. As he lavered his spittle on her bare body, Kyle was tasting her essence. She was A-Negative. That was a quality blood in any society. Her mind was remarkably receptive to his ministrations. Kyle did not feed her thoughts of perversions, but rather of satisfying thoughts of fulfillment. He could have taken her right in the garden, but that is not what he wanted tonight. Kyle allowed her to lead him back to her apartment.

Once inside, Kyle began to divest her of her clothes. He was moving slowly even though the scent to the A-Negative blood was calling to him. As he removed her garments, Kyle was kissing her and his spittle was covering her body creating a sensation even stronger than she remembered somewhere way back in her past. Once he felt Tess was properly prepared, Kyle laid her back on her bed. In front of Tess and completely in her range of vision, Kyle began to remove his clothes. He stripped down to his shorts and, then, on his knees he knelt on the bed before her. Tess felt, rather than commanded, her arms as they reached out to pull his shorts down around his thighs. Kyle leaned back beside her. He raised his legs and kicked the remaining offending garment from his body. His strong, athletic arms bridged her body. Slowly, Kyle entered the holy body of Tess. This was the vessel which produced the wonderful A-Negative nectar that he so craved at this time. Kyle suppressed his own passions until he felt his prey had been properly filled. If his senses were correct, she had been schooled in passion, but she had been denied these same passions for sometime. As he felt her ready, Kyle, all the time kissing and caressing her skin, bit down on her neck. The blood flowed and Kyle was in no way disappointed. Yes, she had been schooled in passion, but she had also been schooled in nutrition. Her blood was thick with nutrients and it was a strong blood. It also ran with flavor as the A-Negative flowed down his throat. Kyle was quick to close the wound. He applied his saliva and, with licking, he was able to almost erase the wound from sight.

No, Kyle wasn’t going to leave this delectable find. There was also a positive that she had a quick and strong intellect. That was something Kyle missed in those who pursued his person. It was way too early to tell, but she might be the one he had been searching for. She was from a fresh land and she had fresh ideas. She, also, had a flavor in her blood that he would crave and husband if they formed a liaison.

The next morning, Tess awoke as if from a dream. Her head was resting again on the naked lap of her last night’s lover. Where did she get that feeling of déjà vu in her feeling of contentment? She reached up to grasp his neck and pull herself to his face. This was almost like a trained reaction and the wet kisses produced feelings that she felt she had experienced long before.

Tess’s mind was roving rapidly as it accessed the occurance. There was something she had not experienced before and it was permanence. None of her previous lovers had made that effect with inher. Even those who implied a certain duration in their stay hadn’t made this feeling so deep within her body. Tess was feeling the stiring of maternal instincts which she was uncertain that she recognized.

When Tess came in to fix breakfast, she found that Kyle had brewed a strong coffee. He was content to just watch her as she scurried around her kitchen fixing her meal of grains and proteins along with a myriad of iron supplements

Tess was scurrying about her apartment. She hadn’t been late and she didn’t want to start now. As she, having retrieved her things for the day and was preparing to leave, bent to kiss Kyle, he returned a wet kiss that brought bliss to her body.

Tess hadn’t said anything about Kyle going or staying. She didn’t realize this until her day was almost gone. Tess didn’t dare call for fear of what she would find. When her day was over, Tess hurried back to her apartment. She ran past Mrs. Gains and quickly unlocked her door. It was dark inside, but then, Tess’s eyes became sensitive to the dark and she saw the table. It was set for one with another place having a single cup of coffee. Beside her plate, she saw lined up like soldiers the supplements. Her meal was a roast beef, so rare that it bleed as you cut it, and so tender that you only had to use a fork. Her music player was on and she heard the soft tones of a jazz record singing of love eternal since the turn of the century. That night, they made love, but Kyle, proving his intentions to not leave her for a long time, did not feast or in any way use her body.

Next day, Tess returned to work. It was remarked that she seemed invigorated. The entire staff had noticed that for the past few months Tess was on the way to becoming morose. Her superiors were worrying that she was loosing her drive. Her would be suitors were worried that she would escape them and no one would collect the now $12,000 pot for the one in the office who would win her favors. Today though, Tess approached her job with drive and enthusium. True, she was a little upset when she heard that another company had received the account of representing Kyle. Tess shrugged and privately thought they might have the account, but the treasure in her apartment was the body and soul of Kyle himself.

Kyle was still a celebrity, but he was no longer on the singles circuit. There was wailing and gnashing of teeth as women all over the world found that Kyle had a steady consort. Tess found herself on display almost as much as did Kyle. He accompanied her to her office functions and she accompanied him to his celebrity functions. This had the effect of doublely announcing that Tess and Kyle belonged to one another.

Really there is too much sex in this story but Max of fiction is up to the task. The Castaways I was just trying to see if i could do this kind of story.

Isabel this is a canon story when Alex is gone and Jesse has moved on, her brother and mother are satisfied, where does Isabel turn and who is there for her, remember the special unit and there will be a surprise.

Roswell3053 One of the reasons I like to write conventional couples is the challenge of making the characters all fit. Every one knows who must end up with who but the story is getting them there.

L-J-L 76 I think a set of children speaks that things went well with Max and Liz. I thankyou for following my story and I hope you like the ending.

Natalie36 I also thankyou for following my story.

Michelle in Yonkers due to my own personal up bringing I usually feel queasy about making my characters live such wanton lives. It is necessary for the story most times. I do not make my characters live this way because I think this is good or the way i would want to live. The strongest “Liz” I ever wrote was in my fic “Liz of the Desert.” She was a mess. She had a reputation of sleeping with everyone she met. The story was of her finding strength to go to one person. I liked the final character so much that I am working on a sequel.

My wife and I are educators. One of the interesting things we have learned is there are several periods in ones life when the drive to create becomes very strong. If you miss one of these periods later another will come along. Thankyou for following my story.

Chapter 14

Kyle was privately sure that he had found who he was searching for. If her affection increased, he was sure they would conceive a child soon. Tess wanted to go to a dance club. Secretly she wanted to show off her, maybe, final boyfriend. She had hoped that she would meet those who she would always love. Max, because of his tenderness, and Isabel because Tess was sure her pairing with Kyle had been far from accidental.

As fate had arranged it, Isabel, Max and Michael, along with their human partners, were at the club that night. Tess walked over to their table, her hand trailing to hold the one of the man behind her. She introduced the six of them as her friends. She introduced Kyle as her present boyfriend. The sat together, until finally in a gaggle, the women announced they would retire to the ladies room to repair their make up, attend to their hair dos and carry out any bodily functions needed. Liz turned to Tess. She was careful not to mention anything about vampires, but she was excited that Tess seemed so happy. Liz knew that this had been weighing heavily upon Max’s soul, “Are you happy, Tess?” she asked.

Tess had no idea of how much Max had told the others about his affair with her. She, herself, had told Liz most of it, so she was guarded in her words. “Yes, this is the first time that I actually feel that I might have a future with a man.”

Liz held Tess’s hand. She was happy because this would make her man happy. Isabel was happy because this was a plan of hers that had masterfully succeeded. Maria was observing that only Isabel was not wearing a scarf about her neck.

Meanwhile the men were talking. Kyle pointed since Alex as he was the outsider. Max shrugged, “Alex probably knows a lot more about vampires that any of the rest of us. It is all right to talk in front of him. He is the eternal lover of Isabel.

Kyle turned to Max, “You are the man who trained Tess, aren’t you?”

Max was hoping that Kyle did not bare jealousies about the past. “Yes, Kyle, I first found Tess when I was still recovering from a 200-year-old sleep. I stayed with her for sometime, but in the end, I freely gave her up because I couldn’t give her the love and the child she wanted most.”

Kyle just nodded. Max couldn’t tell what his feelings were. “I might be able to do that. I have found a closer bond with her, than any other I have had in the 500 years I have lived,” Kyle stated. “Do the other women know about, you know, the way we are?”

Max nodded, “Yes, and when you tell her, have her get in touch with Maria and Liz. Both of them can help her. Isabel can help her with questions she might not want to ask us about vampires.”

Kyle looked at Max, “I haven’t told her about myself, yet, because I do not want to lose her. I have been putting it off.”

Max returned, “Tess is a strong woman. She takes the husbanding that is necessary to her upkeep well. I think she will come around. If you want one of the women to talk to her first, you might talk to our wives. You have to tell her soon because if she is to be your eternal mate she will stop aging. She has to know how to cover for this or we all might be in trouble.

When Tess had returned, she had noticed that each of the women except Isabel was wearing a scarf. It bothered her, but she was not sure on what level. Tess knew that she was developing a rash or something. Her neck itched a lot and when she said anything to Kyle, he would just smile and kiss it away. Yes, that is exactly what he did. He kissed it away like he did many hurts or irritations she had. Tess was comparing the care and nurture of Kyle to that of Max when she could. When she was making love, she seemed to always be in such a haze she couldn’t think straight. She didn’t mention anything about marriage because she had begun to believe that was what drove Max off. Kyle was different from Max and there was something deeper than she had felt with Max. She was happy that Kyle had been so accepted by the others. Tess asked herself, “Why did she want so much for them to accept him?” She had had other friends and she never felt that her boyfriends needed their acceptance.

The idea that she would want a former lover like Max to approve of her new boyfriend was unheard of by any standards. She asked, “Why did Kyle and Max have so much in common?” Maybe that was the wrong question. They were nothing like each other. When she was with Max, she felt loved and she felt at peace with the world, but when she was with Kyle, the love was so much deeper. With Max, it was always as if he was a continual one night stand. Max had put his clothes in her closet, but he had nothing else to imply his permanence. When Kyle was inside of her, she felt that he would be there forever. No matter how much she thought of Max, that forever feeling had never been there. Max had implied that was why he had left her. Kyle would talk about things they would be doing years in the future. Max never talked as if the future ever existed. Max drank that spiced coffee and Kyle drank a very bitter Turkish blend. Wait a minute. That was it!

Tess remembered they had all been out together. She, Maria, Liz and Alex had been eating snacks and they were all laughing and talking. Isabel, Michael, Kyle and Max were only drinking their coffee. Each one had a special blend. When she was at the women’s house, she saw that Maria and Liz had a medicine cabinet full of iron supplements. They all three wore those scarves around their necks and that was something Tess had never done before. Alex wore an old fashioned cravat never a tie or just a shirt. The other men wore open shirts, Polos or Tee shirts, but never Alex. Isabel would show that maganificent upper bust completely exposed, at least as much as modesty would allow. She never wore anything about her throat.

Tess marched over to Maria’s. Luck would have it that Michael was not home. She marched in the house and to the bathroom. She opened the medicine cabinet. “What is with this?” she querried.

Maria looked at Liz, “What do you mean,Tess?’

Tess faced Liz. “I know for a fact that Max only drinks spiced coffee. All the time he was with me, I remember his wonderful meals but they were all just for me. I never saw him eat. He only drink that coffee. I saw Michael drinking that chicory coffee the other night and I know that Kyle drinks only a Turkish blend. I want to know what is with this? What is going on?” She stamped her foot.

Liz felt that she was best able to take up the conversation. “Max does drink things other than coffee.” She unwound her scarf. Max had fed upon her just last night. “Max feeds upon me.”

Tess just sat down. She made a face, “Ewuuu, how can you let him do that?”

Liz looked at Tess, “When Max was living with you, the sex was very good, wasn’t it? Your health was good and you were happy weren’t you?”

Tess looked at Liz. She hadn’t connected any of the dots yet. So Liz continued. When Max was living with you, he was taking care of you, but he was also taking from you a little blood to keep him going. At the time Max was starving. Max hadn’t eaten in 200 years. Max went to many women but he only took a little blood. No matter how hungry he was, Max managed to only take a small amount of blood. He fed upon you regularly, but he, also, was very careful about your health. When Max was living with you, did you ever get sick? Were you ever tired? Your health was the primary concern of Max because he felt that if he was using you, he must be caring for you. How happy were you? Max always kept your mental health up as much as he could. He knew that he could never give you a baby or promise to be with you forever. That is why he left. Reportably, Kyle is convinced that he will father a child with you. To do this, he wants your health to be the best. With Kyle living with you, you must take care of yourself for two. When you are given a baby, you must take care of yourself for three.” This was a long speech for Liz.

“You are just so cool about this. You are living with monsters and you do not seem to be worried!” Tess was unnerved.

“Liz weighed in again, “No, Tess, we are not living with monsters. The monster was the man who brought cocaine into your life and then back into your house. You told me about the office pool on who would sleep with you at the office. They are monsters. We all have dated monsters who never care for us and just want to use our bodies without any reguard for our happiness or health. I was taken by a monster. He was going to kill me to take all of my blood. Max killed him. Max endangered himself with his own people to keep me safe. Max left you when he thought you would have a chance to find a soul mate which he couldn’t be. Tess, everyday we meet monsters. Max, Michael, Kyle and Isabel are not the monsters. Most of the monsters we meet are of our own people.” Liz was almost out of breath and almost ready to collapse. In her condition, she must be careful. Her baby must be born in an atmosphere of love, not hate and worry.

Maria calmly looked at Tess, “Max was one of the dearest lovers I have ever met. He took me one night when I was being very foolish. If he had of been human, there is no telling what he would have done. Max gave me feelings about my self that I had never known. I searched for him for months. I couldn’t find him. Later, when I did find him, he told me he liked me. He had not returned because he knew that he could never give me anything except illusion. Kyle has made it clear to everyone in the vampire community that he considers you to be his soul mate. If you walk out and go away from this, you will never find satisfaction and Kyle will always be suffering.”

This was a lot for Tess to assimilate. The part Liz had said about the monsters she had dated, the number of men who had slept with her for what they could get and never cared about her as a person was true. True Max and Kyle had made it clear that she was very important. She could try to convince herself that it was just about the blood. There were too many times when both Kyle, now, and Max, before, had held her and consoled her without taking anything. That office pool had always bothered her, if she thought about it.

Tess stayed at a hotel that night. Later she went out to one of the biggest dance clubs. Usually a lone woman would be on the prowl. Announcing herself to every one that she was available. Tess just sat in a corner and watched. She saw the men and women in their interplay. A man came by and discovered her in her corner. He tried to buy her a drink. He did every thing he could think of to entice her to go out onto the dance floor Then he tried to get her to take him home. “What do you want me for if I take you home?” she asked.

“Baby, I just want to fuck you. I make no lasting demands. It is just for tonight. We don’t even have to exchange names. I will call you Sue and you can call me Bill,” he declared.

Tess smiled and shook her head. She could never imagine either Kyle or Max doing this. True, they both had had one night stands, but she was sure that either of them left their women with a lot more that she would have gotten from a man like the one who just left.

Tess made up her mind. She called her apartment. “Kyle, I am at the hotel. Please come get me and take me home.

Epilogue

Four couples and their children were having a barbeque. It was 8:00 pm when it got started. Isabel and the four men were fixing the food while under the lights of lanterns Liz, Maria, Tess and Alex were watching the children. There were four percolators going on the camp stove. The children were all playing under the dim light of the lanterns. Estelle, the oldest, was taking her duty as babysitter very seriously. She was starting into puberty and, soon, she would know what species she was to be. This, for her, was a scary time. Her baby brother was being a brat and if he didn’t settle down, she would call her daddy. The other children were ranging from being aggressive to very shy. Her favorite was Cynthia, the oldest daughter of Max and Liz. Cynthia was so shy and so bright. When you could get her to talk, you forgot you were talking to a child. Her mind was as strong and as clear as any adult. Max and Liz’s son wasn’t much better than her little brother. The twins of Michael and Maria were always in trouble, but they always blamed each other. They were very hard to tell apart. Maria’s youngest child was still too small to cause much trouble. Now Kyle’s son was strong and Estelle was sure he was going to be a vampire, even though he was still way too young to tell. Kyle’s two daughters were just a year apart. That was good, because they resembled each other a lot. Their size was the easiest way to tell them apart. All of the women, except for Isabel, wore scarves around their necks. They were badges that told that they were consorts of feeding vampires. The women were the pictures of health. They exercised and ate special diets. They gave their blood to their spouses once a month on average and they knew that they had responsibility to that spouse to remain strong. Alex, also, now almost 100 years old and looking not a day over 30, wore his cravat. The women knew that one of their rewards would be to have a long and healthful life. The children always saw the tenderness that their moms and dads had for each other. They all grew up in a family marred by myth, but united by fact. Over Max’s door there was a wooden stake. There was a small sign by the stake. It read, “The stake won’t get you, but the contaminants and bugs on it will.”

I wish to thank every one who enjoyed this totally unstructured Vampire story. it was just for fun and in no way should it be part of any Vampire lore.

Really there is too much sex in this story but Max of fiction is up to the task. The Castaways I was just trying to see if i could do this kind of story.

Isabel is the simple name for this canon story. It is about Isabel if she had listened to all who would rule her life. There is much argument because the writers of the TV didn’t every find a strong love interest for her. They made her mature faster than the other characters but the never matched her up with a proper young man who she could look straight in the eye. I picked the most unlikely person I could find and worked on him.
