CHAPTER 1
“Morning Mr Evans” Stacy says as her boss Max Evans walks into his office in a rush.
“Morning” he calls behind is back, without turning around.
Max Evans … where to begin.
Max Evans is the boss of one of the biggest and greatest law firms in all of Roswell.
Now Roswell, New Mexico is a reasonable small town, but everyone in the town has heard of Max Evans.
After the death of his father Philip Evans in 2003, Max inherited the business, becoming the boss.
Max has it all a big house, top car, a sweet loving girlfriend who he loves with all his heart. Everything his ever wanted.
But what he didn’t expect was to loose the love.
…The love that he never knew was not true.
“Stacy cancel my 3 o’clock appointments” Max called into his office phone as he stared t a picture of him and his loving girlfriend of 2 years.
Tess Harding.
Tess is beautiful every guys stimulant, with her blond curls and round curves… who wouldn’t want her.
“Of course Mr Evans” Stacy replies.
The picture was taken on Max’s 26th birthday; they went out for a romantic dinner but ended up coming home early, due to a fight over a waitress who was checking Max out.
That was one of the things that they always fought about. Tess was jealous. She did not like any other woman’s eyes landing on Max and if they did then she would accuse Max of flirting with other people.
Max sighed as he slumped back in his chair as stare dreamingly at the picture.
What else could he do, he thinks to himself.
‘The girl is beautiful… but such a pain in the ass’.

At 3 o’clock Max found himself driving home with the biggest smile plastered over his face.
He was planning on surprising Tess when she came home from visiting her sister-in-law.
He walked to the door of the house that he shared with Tess.
They had moved in together about a year ago, after Tess had a fight with her land lord over not paying the rent in time.
Max had then offered that she stay with him and assured her that she wouldn’t have to pay rent but he had expected her to get a job at least.
Max walks into the house and hears a banging noise coming from up stairs.
“Tess” he calls as he walks to the bottom of the stairs before making his way up to the top, a curious expression marrying his features.
“Tess is that you?” he ask as he walks to the bedroom.He stops dead in his tracks at what he hears next.
“OHH TESS” a male voice shouts.
“KYLEEEE, OHH YEAH” he hears his girlfriend’s voice exclaims in pleasure.
Kyle?
Max’s eyes grow wide as realisation settles in on him Kyle Valenti was one of Max’s co-workers.
Max may be the boss, but Kyle is the son of one of the richest men, known in Roswell, Jim Valenti.
‘If I could fire his ass’ Max thinks as his hands clench and unclench in anger.
He stares at the handle on the door and wonders weather to enter or not to enter.
“HARDER KYLE” she shouts again.
His blood begins to boil and he snaps, opening the door and entering to see Tess and Kyle fly apart.
“Max ummm- what are you doing home, so early” Tess asks while Max just stares on in shock.
They are both under the covers of his bed. The one he brought with his money. The one he had let Tess sleep in for the last year when they had moved in together.
Never had he thought that she would do this to him and it was pretty obvious what she was doing.
“How long- has this been going on?” Max asks a little too calmly.
“Max, I can explain” Tess says as she stands and the blanket covering her naked body falls away, exposing her to both men.
“I just want to know, for how long?” Max asks again lowering his head to avoid looking at her.
Tess is inwardly killing herself, how could she make Max find out.
What would she do now?
Max was her money, now that he found out about her affair he could not leave her or she would be broke.
“19 months” Kyle answers for her while Tess snap’s her head in his direction sending him all kind of death glares.
“What, you wanna keep lying well go ahead. You said you were going to break up with him a year ago anyway” Kyle says as he too gets out of bed and pulls on his clothes before looking to Max.
“I’m sorry Max” he says before stepping out of the room, and leaving.
Tess looks on stunned.
‘I have to do something’ she thinks to herself as she makes her way over to max slowly, and naked.
“Max honey I’m sorry- it won’t happen again” she says as she stares up at him with pleading eyes.
“Tess it’s over” Max says as he finally looks up at her disgusted.
“WHAT?” comes Tess shrilling reply.
“I want you out of my house as soon as possible… I’ll be back by 6 o’clock tomorrow night, I want you out by then” Max says as he turns on his heals and makes his way downstairs, before retrieving his keys and leaving.

Max walks up to the familiar house and rings the door bell, as he continues to look down shamefully.
“Max” comes Isabel Whitman’s shock reply.
“Hey Iz” he says as he looks up at his sister brokenly.
“Ohh Max” she cries as she holds him close, knowing exactly what has happened to break him so deeply.
“Come on in” Isabel welcomes as she steps aside and Max walks into the living room.
“So it’s over?” she asks, after she talked to Max and they discussed it over some coffee.
“Yeah it’s over” Max replies as he smiles at her reassuringly, but the smile does not reach his eye.
“Max, I’m sorry”
“It’s not your fault. I mean I should have listened to you when you told me she was no good, but I didn’t- it’s my mistake and I deserve this”
“Max no one deserves to be cheated on” Isabel says as she shakes her head.
“Max, there are lots of other girls out there and I’m sure it will be no time, till you find your self falling for one of them” she adds.
“I think I just need a break”
“A break?”
“From dating- relationships” Max explains, staring down at his hands.
“I don’t think I’m ready to have my heart broken again” he adds sadly.
Isabel hated seeing her brother like this, she knew from the moment she laid eyes on Tess Harding that she was no good trash and did not deserve the love of her brother.
“You can stay here with me and Alex tonight” Isabel says as she sends him a small smile at the thought of her husband.
Max smiles, he has never seen his sister happier than when she is with Alex.
Alex and Isabel have been married for 3 years now and were the happiest couple Max had ever laid eyes on.
Max still remembers the first time he met Alex and how nervous he was at meeting his girlfriends family.
“Thanks Iz” Max replies as he smiles at his sister.
