I think this argument is becoming a little redundant. We all keep saying the same things and we can't defend one character without seeming like we're against the other.

And the only problem I have is that if what happened in EOTW was part of the reason Max acted the way he did towards Liz after Alex's death, then in a way it is proof that he didn't really forgive her, at least not completely anyway. People can say they forgive someone without truly meaning it, and real forgiveness is about being able to move past the hurt and not using it as a reason to not believe in a friend. And I can also apply that same logic to Liz. Even though she tried to act as if she had forgiven Max for sleeping with Tess, her big blowup in Ch-ch-changes was prove that she hadn't really forgiven Max either.

you can forgive but you can't forget. and when you don't forget it still hurts.
it wasn't about cheating but more about the implications of some phrases that for Max affected their friendship too in that moment.

i understand both of them. they understood each other, they forgave each other but it was still hurting them and when they were more vulnerable their feelings exploded. I believe that they will never really forget. this doesn't mean that they didn't forgive each other because by the end of the show they did it.

again, it wasn't about Liz sleeping with Kyle for me. it was about "you're dangerous and i don't want to die for you" "Alex died for your fault"
maybe what i wrote into the other replies wasn't clear enough but i don't know how to explain it again without repeating the same things. i tried to show the links and i said more than once that it wasn't really about sleeping with Kyle. it's like if no one really read what i wrote.
maybe the problem was that Max believed her too much. because he believed that she really meant what she said more than once.

No, that's not true, Coccy. I did read what you wrote. And I got a lot of what you said. I understand where both Max and Liz are coming from. They were just teenagers who had to go through more than anyone should have to deal with. I'm just saying that right or wrong, Liz's decisions were a lot more selfless than Max's. Most of Max's decisions in season 2 were made out of self pity or instant gratification. And Liz's decisions, throughout most of the series, were usually about protecting or helping someone else out.

And as for forgiving and forgetting, yeah, Max never forgot the hurt that he went through, and I wouldn't ask him too. A person never forgets the pain that they went through, but forgiveness means that you don't let that hurt control you the way that Max did in Season 2 and even Liz did sometimes.

But once again, this argument is pointless. Let's just all agree that Max and Liz loved each other and be done with it.

At first, I would have said Max but, after end of the World, I said Liz, because for doing what she did for him, knowing well that she would loose him, that's the final sacrifice!

And Max, anyway, was always putting his alien fellows first... After what he saw in End of the world, he never tried to talk to her about it, like someone normal would have done, after seeing his love with another guy...
He just believed what he saw, even there was nothing to see, apart two people sitting on a bed...
