Chapter 51
"Maria. Yes I'm upset with Max, we all went to the party together.You and Michael were on a date. While Me and Max were just friends, Max promised he would hang out with me but no, instead he and Michael do something dumb like making out with two naked women," Liz said, she was furious.
"Yeah, I guess I can see it that way. God men are pigs," Maria said.
"Yes! Men are pigs," Liz agreed.
"Good to know," Maria smiled.
"Maria do you think you will ever forgive Michael?" Liz asked.
"Yeah, I think I might. It might take awhile though. What about you? Do you think you can forgive Max?" Maria asked.
"I think it will take awhile, but hopefully Max and I can be friends again," she answered thoughtfully.
"I agree with you. I hope Michael and I can get over this and be together again. I'm hopeful, but only time will tell," Maria said, agreeing with her old friend.
"You know they are outside watching the club to make sure we're safe," Liz said.
"No way! What are they doing that for?" Maria was shocked that they were doing this.
"I guess to make sure we are okay," Liz said.
"That is kinda of nice of them," Maria said thoughtfully.
"Yeah," Liz said.
They smiled at each other and took another drink of their beers.
"So what is the deal with you and Toney? Are you dating or what?" Maria asked.
"I don't know what we are. He is spending all his time trying to figure out who killed Eric and he's always with Alice.," Liz answered.
"I think there might be something going on between Toney and Alice, I'm just trying to figure out what it is." Maria continued to wonder out loud.
"I know, and I agree with you. I'm just waiting to see what happens next,"
Liz answered her friend as they continued to think about the situation.
"You think maybe acting on their emotions," Maria remarked.
"Yes I think they might. I'm just hoping to find out for sure," Liz said.
"You know, when you find out the truth, it is just going to hurt if it's true," Maria said.
"I know. But I need to find out for sure. What do you think of Max and Michael?" Liz asked.
"I think that they are strange, weird and assholes," Maria said with a giggle.
"Yeah, sometimes they can be strange, weird and assholes...but other times they can be pretty nice and thoughtful," Liz said
"That is true they can," Maria said.
"Are you going to talk to Max and Michael?" Liz asked.
"I don't know right now. Are you going to talk to them?" Maria asked.
"Maybe I don't know right now," Liz said.
"Well I guess we will have to wait and see," Maria said.
"Yeah, I guess so," Liz said.
Liz reached into her purse and pulled out her cell phone and dialed a number and then waited. The phone rang three times before someone answered...
"Hello?" a voice said.
"Hey. what are you guys up to?" Liz asked.
"Well I'm at the computer and Beauty is fixing dinner. Why?" Al asked.
"Have you found anything on my father? Do you know if he is still looking for us and if he is still trying to cause trouble?" Liz asked.
"Yeah,your dad is still looking for you two but II don't know about the trouble,"
Al said.
"If you find anything will you let us know?" Liz asked.
"Sure.You know we will. How is everything?" Al asked.
"You know the guys we were hanging out with? Well they acted like assholes at a party and now Maria and I are not talking to them," Liz said.
"What did they do?" Al asked.
"Well we went to this party and while we were standing around talking these two naked women walked up to them and started kissing them while we watched and then they started making out with the two of them right in front of us," Liz said.
"What?" Al shouted into the phone.
"Yeah, that is what happened last night," Liz said.
"God I can't believe they did that! So what did you two do?" Al asked.
"Well, as of right now we told them to stay away from us for a while. So far it is working," Liz said.
"I say good for you.How long do you think it will be before you talk to them again?" Al asked.
"I don't know. Right now they are outside in their car watching us," Liz said.
"Are you both ok with them being outside?" Al asked.
"Yes,of course. They are out of our faces," Liz said.
"Ok. So are you both really ok?" Al asked.
"Yes we are both doing good," Liz said
" How are you two? I hope you are doing well." Liz continued...
"We're fine. Beauty still misses her family and she is still really worried about her brothers," Al said.
"Well hopefully her brothers are doing fine and will call her to let her know soon." Liz said.
"That is what I'm hoping for," Al replied.
"Well, Maria and I hope so too. How long has it been since she talked to them?" Liz asked.
"She has not talked to them in about 4 months," Al said.
"What? No way," Liz said.
"Yeah, it has been four months since she talked to them. And you know that makes her worry too," Al said.
"Yeah, I can understand that," Liz said.
"I'm hoping they''ll call but you never know," Al said.
"Yeah, that is true, but hopefully they will call soon," Liz said.
"I hope you're right. So what are you and Maria up to?" Al asked again.
"Oh, we're at the club right now relaxing. After that we'll probably go home and see if their is anything we need to do there," Liz said.
"Wow that seems nice. Hopefully those guys will leave you alone,"Al said.
"We will have to wait and see." Liz said.
"Well hopefully they will," Al said.
"We just have to wait and see about that," Liz said again.
"Liz it is good to hear from you. You know we both miss you and Maria," Al said.
"I know you miss us. I hope you will come and visit us soon," Liz said.
"Yeah, we are trying to figure out what to do here, after that we can figure out when we can come and visit you girls," Al said.
"Well I hope you'll be able to come and see us soon. And I'm hoping my dad will leave us all alone too," Liz said.
"That is what we are all hoping for. I still can't believe your dad is doing all of this," Al said.
"I know, I can't believe it either. My dad is being a major asshole," Liz said.
"When is he not an asshole?" Al said.
"Yeah, that is true. He is always an asshole," Liz giggled...it would be funny if it wasn't so true.
"So are you and this guy Max just friends?" Al asked.
"Yeah, we're just friends. Maria and Michael are, or were, the only ones dating. I don't know which since Maria is mad," Liz said.
"Maria will be back to her normal self in a couple of days. So just be ready," Al said.
"Oh, trust me I'll be ready for it," Liz said.
"What is Maria doing right now?" Al asked.
"Maria is drinking a beer right now," she said as she looked over at her friend and smiled.
"And what about you?" Al asked.
"Oh, I'm having a beer and trying to relax a little... you?" Liz asked.
"Sitting on the couch watching TV. Beauty is still cooking dinner," Al said.
"So when are you going to see your in laws?" Liz asked.
"We are going to see them tomorrow and we're going to be staying with them for a week. It should be fun,"
"Yeah, it sounds like it. I better go. I need to check on something," Liz said.
"Ok. Talk to you later. Be good and call us if you need anything," Al said.
"Ok. We will talk to you later," Liz said.
Liz closed her cell phone and looked at Maria and smiled. Then she opened her phone again and dialed another number. The phone rang three times again before someone answered...
"Hello?"

"What are you guys doing?" Liz asked.
"We're still outside looking out," Max said.
"Oh, what you're both so bored outside?" Liz asked.
"Liz you know I'm hating this. We just want to talk to the both of you," Max said.
"Max I know you do. But we don't want to talk to you," Liz said.
"Liz you both know we need to talk."
"I know we need to talk but just give us some time. We are still mad at you ."
"I guess I can understand. Liz we're going to be outside your house. All we are going to do is make sure your safe," Max said.
"Fine... stay outside, I don't want you guys in the house, are we clear?" Liz growled.
"Yes we're clear. Liz are you and Maria ok?" Max asked softly.
"Yes we are ok. Maria and me are a little drunk from drinking two beers a few minutes ago," Liz assured him.
"Oh God! You're both drunk?" Max asked, almost shouting in disbelief.
"So what? It's none of your business if Maria and me want to drink," Liz all but shouted...
"Liz...please, just calm down," Max said.
"Max, I am calm. I feel great," Liz smiled...
"Liz can we come in the club to talk?" Max asked.
"I don't know. Let me think about it," Liz said.
"Please Liz?" Max asked.
"Let me think about it," Liz yelled.
"Liz," Max said calmly
"Fine you can come in if you don't make us mad. Deal?" Liz asked
"Deal. You both need to be nice too," Max said softly.
"Fine. We'll be nice if you don't make us mad. See you in a few," Liz said.
"Ok," Max said.
Liz closed her cell phone and walked to the door and she saw Max and Michael already waiting. She unlocked the door and stepped to the side to allow Max and Michael to walk into the club. Michael walked over to Maria while Max stayed next to Liz by the door. Liz watched as Maria and Michael started kissing. Max and Liz both looked at each other and grinned then Liz turned and locked the door. As Liz turned from the door she found herself face to face with Max...
"What are you looking at?" Liz asked
"Nothing. Are you sure you're ok?" Max asked.
"Max I'm fine. Come on we are going to sit down and talk," Liz said as she pulled Max with her.
Liz and Max walked up to the bar and sat down so that they were facing each other.
"Ok. What do you need to talk about?" Max asked
"Max why did you and Michael make out with those two naked women in front of everyone?" Liz asked.
"Liz I'm sorry. It just happened. It didn't mean anything. I didn't mean for it to happen it just did. The woman was drunk and thought she was kissing her boyfriend," Max said.
"Max I don't know if I can ever trust you. I still can't get past you and that naked woman making out in front of us,"
"Liz it didn't mean anything," Max said.
"Max do you just use women for sex?" Liz asked
"What? No I don't use women just for sex. Why are you asking me this?" Max was practically in a state of shock..
"You heard me. Are you using women just for sex? And the reason why I am asking is because your acting weird," Liz stated once again.
"No. I would never do that. Liz, all I want is to talk to you without arguing or getting mad," Max said.
"Max I'm not mad. I'm just shocked that you would do that. Maria was pissed at Michael for kissing another woman, but I'm just shocked,"
"And what are you? Can you forgive me?"
"Max I told you that I'm surprised and shocked at what you did not angry. It may take awhile to get over it but I want us to be friends again,"
"I guess I can handle that. But I'm glad we are still friends. And I hope we will stay friends," Max said.
"Yeah, maybe we will,"
They both turned and saw Maria and Michael still kissing then they turned and looked at each other...
"So what do we do now?" Max asked.
"We just sit here and try to be nice to each other I guess." Liz giggled...
"I think I can do that," Max grinned back at her.
"Good. We can do that," Liz said.
"Great," Max said.
"Yeah that will be great,"
"So are we still going to Toney's party next week?" Max asked.
"We will have to wait and see how it goes from now til next week," Liz answered thoughtfully...
"Yeah we'll have to wait and see," Max agreed.
"What?" Liz asked.
"I don't know. I'm just trying to figure out why your not hitting me or anything," Max said.
"Max I only hurt the people that hurt me or make me really mad. So far you and Michael have not done that...you shocked me but you didn't hurt me... yet," Liz said.
"Ok. I guess that is a good thing. Are you going to talk to Toney and Alice if they come?" Max asked.
"I don't know . I have to wait and see how it goes when we see them," Liz said.
"I wonder when that will happen," Max said.
"Who knows?" Liz stated more than questioned.
"Liz are you ok with Toney and Alice hanging out together?' Max asked.
"Yeah. They are just friends right?" Liz asked
"Yeah, they are friends. I'm glad that they can talk. I mean like we are friends and hang out," Max said.
"Yeah. Question. How long have you and Michael been working for Toney?" Liz asked.
"We've been working for Toney for about four years now, sorry, I lost track. All I know is it has been for a while," Max said.
"I guess that is understandable," Liz said.
"Yeah, I guess it is," Max said.
Liz stood up and walked behind the bar and got two more bottles of Beer. She opened the beers and set a bottle in front of Max. He and Liz both took a drink and then set the beer down and turned and saw Michael and Maria starting to make out again.They both looked at each other and smiled.
"So what do you say we relax?" Max asked.
"I say lets," Liz said.
Max and Liz sat down and started talking about what they did before they arrived at this town and they laughed and enjoyed each others' company.
Meanwhile Michael and Maria were in the booth making out fiercely and were touching and rubbing against each other while at the bar Max and Liz were talking and laughing when Liz's cell phone started ringing. She reached into her pocket and pulled it out and put it to her ear,
"Hello?"
"Where the hell are you?" The voice asked.
"Who is this?" Liz asked.
"It's your father. Now tell me where you are," Mr. Parker asked
"No. Dad I won't tell you anything. So leave me the hell alone," Liz said.
"Don't talk to me that way. You better start watching how you talk to me," Mr. Parker said.
"Dad I can talk to you anyway I want to. So deal with it," Liz said.
"Just wait til I get my hands on you and Maria," Mr. Parker said.
"Dad I doubt you will find us," Liz said.
"You know I will find you and when I do you and Maria will come home with me. Do you hear me?" Mr. Parker asked.
"Yeah. are you going to use your job to find Maria and me? That is against the law and you can go to jail dad," Liz said.
Max watched as Liz was talking to her dad. He noticed that she was starting to get angrier by the minute.
"Dad leave me and my friends alone. We want nothing to do with you. We want to be left alone," Liz yelled before closing her phone.

"I can't believe you told your dad that," Max said
"Max I don't like him. And I don't want him to find Maria and me." Liz said determinedly.
"Maybe he won't find you. You never know," Max countered.
"Max, my father will do anything and everything to find us," She told him.
"Liz, are you sure your OK with us here?" Max asked
"Max I'm fine with it."
"Good. I still can't believe how crazy that party was,"
"Max! Please, I don't want to talk about that party. That is a bad subject to talk about."
"Sorry, I didn't mean to bring it up."
"Max, you need to stop bringing it up, every time you bring it up you make me more mad." Liz said.
"I'll stop it then,"
"Good!"
"Do you think you should let Maria know you talked to your father?" Max asked.
"Yeah, I'll tell her,"
"Tell who what?" Maria asked as she joined the other two.
They turned and saw Maria and Michael standing in front of them and they smiled at their friends.
"Tell who what?" Max asked again.
"I talked to my father," Liz said.
"What happened?" Maria asked with shock in her voice.
"He still wants us to come home. I told him no and then we had a few words and I hung up on him." Liz said.
"That is all that happened?" Maria was stunned.
"Yes. That is all that happened." Liz said.
Why is your dad doing this?" Michael asked.
"Because he wants both of us home so he can control us while he watches us." Maria said.
"Is that true?" Max asked
"Yes. That's how my father is," Liz said.
Liz I'm sorry to say this but I think your father is an asshole," Max said.
"Tell me something I didn't know," Liz said.
"Why are you both putting up with him," Michael asked.
"We aren't, he just won't leave us alone." Maria said.
"Do either of you know why he keeps calling you and trying to get you to come home." Michael asked with concern.
"He's trying to get us home so he can watch over us and be protective of us," Liz said.
"You mean controlling." Maria said.
"Yes. That is what I mean," Liz said.
"So, what are you going to do about him?" Max asked.
"We'll keep telling him no and keep hoping he won't find us," Maria said.
"I agree with Maria on this," Liz said.
"You're both crazy. You know that." Max said.
"Yes, I guess we are, and I don't care. I want him to leave me alone ao we can live our lives without him in it." Liz said.
"Let's change the subject," Maria suggested.
"Why don't you ever want to talk about Liz's father?" Michael asked.
"Because we have nothing to say about the asshole," Maria said.
Maria calm down. They are just trying to understand the situation." Liz said.
"Well sorry that is not something I want to talk about," Maria said.
"Neither one of us want to talk about it," Liz said.
"Um, OK. Maria do you want to go see a movie with me tonight?" Michael asked thoughtfully, not wanting to upset Maria any more than she already was.
"Sure. What movie do you want to see?" Maria questioned.
" Whatever you want to see. Come on, I'll take you home so you can get ready," And Michael led Maria to the door.
"OK. I guess I'll see you later Liz," Maria called over her shoulder.
"OK. You both have fun together," Liz said.
Max and Liz both watched as Michael and Maria walked out the door. After they were gone they looked at each other and Liz asked,
"What?"
"Do you maybe want to hang out together?" Max asked.
"Why Max, are you trying to be friendly?"
"It depends. Is it working?" Max flirted...
"Yeah, sure, I'll hang out with you as long as your nice." Liz said.
"Deal,"
"So what are we going to do?" Liz asked questioningly.
" How about we hang out at my house and watch some movies and try to have fun," Max said.
"OK. But if you act like a jerk I'm leaving." Liz said.
"I promise I will not act like a jerk," Max said.
"Well that's good to know," Liz said with a grin.
"Are you ready?" Max asked.
"Yeah, sure. Just let me get my sweater." Liz said.
Liz turned and walked toward the kitchen and when she turned the corner she saw a man covered in blood. She stood against the wall watching, keeping her eyes on him. She watched as he rummaged through things. She didn't know what to do or say. A few minutes later she stepped away from the wall, she could no longer see the man. She grabbed her things and was about to leave when someone grabbed her arm from behind. When she turned she saw the man standing in front of her. She and the stranger both stared at each other.
"Who are you? And what do you want?" Liz asked.
"I should be asking you the same thing," The guy said.
"No, really, who are you? And what do you want?" Liz asked.
"I'm looking for something?" The guy said
"And what would that be?" Liz asked.
"What I'm looking for is not a thing but a person," The guy said.
"Well who is the person maybe I can help you?" Liz asked
"Well I'm looking for Max Evans and his brother Michael Evans," The guy said.
"Why are you looking for them?" Liz asked.
"Oh we have some unfinished business." The guy said.
Liz looked at the guy. She knew who he was. She was scared of this guy.
"Oh my god! I know you! I've seen you before! You came up to me, Max and my friends when we were at the bar," Liz said.
"Yes, it is nice to see you again," The guy said.
"Who are you? And what the hell do you want?" Liz asked.
"Sorry I can't tell you exactly but I do want to make Max and Michael's life a living hell," The guy said.
"Why? What have they ever done to you?" Liz said.
"Nothing, just because I want to," The guy said.
"You're crazy!" Liz said.
"Yeah maybe, but trust me, I know what I'm doing," The guy said as he grabbed Liz by the arm.
"Let me go," Liz said.
"No. I want you to tell Max something for me," The guy said.
" And what would that be?" Liz asked, getting a little frightened and irritated at the same time.
"Tell Max it is time for pay back. It's time for all the things he did to come back and bite him on the ass," The guy said.
"Max has never..." Liz started to say...
"Don't finish that sentence, Max is going to be in pain." The guy said.
"What?" Liz practically shouted.
"You will have to just wait and see." The guy said.
Right at that moment they heard.
"Liz where are you? Are you ready to go?" Max shouted.
Chapter 53
"I can't believe you told your dad that," Max said
"Max I don't like him. And I don't want him to find Maria and me." Liz said determinedly.
"Maybe he won't find you. You never know," Max countered.
"Max, my father will do anything and everything to find us," She told him.
"Liz, are you sure your OK with us here?" Max asked
"Max I'm fine with it."
"Good. I still can't believe how crazy that party was,"
"Max! Please, I don't want to talk about that party. That is a bad subject to talk about."
"Sorry, I didn't mean to bring it up."
"Max, you need to stop bringing it up, every time you bring it up you make me more mad." Liz said.
"I'll stop it then,"
"Good!"
"Do you think you should let Maria know you talked to your father?" Max asked.
"Yeah, I'll tell her,"
"Tell who what?" Maria asked as she joined the other two.
They turned and saw Maria and Michael standing in front of them and they smiled at their friends.
"Tell who what?" Max asked again.
"I talked to my father," Liz said.
"What happened?" Maria asked with shock in her voice.
"He still wants us to come home. I told him no and then we had a few words and I hung up on him." Liz said.
"That is all that happened?" Maria was stunned.
"Yes. That is all that happened." Liz said.
Why is your dad doing this?" Michael asked.
"Because he wants both of us home so he can control us while he watches us." Maria said.
"Is that true?" Max asked
"Yes. That's how my father is," Liz said.
Liz I'm sorry to say this but I think your father is an asshole," Max said.
"Tell me something I didn't know," Liz said.
"Why are you both putting up with him," Michael asked.
"We aren't, he just won't leave us alone." Maria said.
"Do either of you know why he keeps calling you and trying to get you to come home." Michael asked with concern.
"He's trying to get us home so he can watch over us and be protective of us," Liz said.
"You mean controlling." Maria said.
"Yes. That is what I mean," Liz said.
"So, what are you going to do about him?" Max asked.
"We'll keep telling him no and keep hoping he won't find us," Maria said.
"I agree with Maria on this," Liz said.
"You're both crazy. You know that." Max said.
"Yes, I guess we are, and I don't care. I want him to leave me alone ao we can live our lives without him in it." Liz said.
"Let's change the subject," Maria suggested.
"Why don't you ever want to talk about Liz's father?" Michael asked.
"Because we have nothing to say about the asshole," Maria said.
Maria calm down. They are just trying to understand the situation." Liz said.
"Well sorry that is not something I want to talk about," Maria said.
"Neither one of us want to talk about it," Liz said.
"Um, OK. Maria do you want to go see a movie with me tonight?" Michael asked thoughtfully, not wanting to upset Maria any more than she already was.
"Sure. What movie do you want to see?" Maria questioned.
" Whatever you want to see. Come on, I'll take you home so you can get ready," And Michael led Maria to the door.
"OK. I guess I'll see you later Liz," Maria called over her shoulder.
"OK. You both have fun together," Liz said.
Max and Liz both watched as Michael and Maria walked out the door. After they were gone they looked at each other and Liz asked,
"What?"
"Do you maybe want to hang out together?" Max asked.
"Why Max, are you trying to be friendly?"
"It depends. Is it working?" Max flirted...
"Yeah, sure, I'll hang out with you as long as your nice." Liz said.
"Deal,"
"So what are we going to do?" Liz asked questioningly.
" How about we hang out at my house and watch some movies and try to have fun," Max said.
"OK. But if you act like a jerk I'm leaving." Liz said.
"I promise I will not act like a jerk," Max said.
"Well that's good to know," Liz said with a grin.
"Are you ready?" Max asked.
"Yeah, sure. Just let me get my sweater." Liz said.
Liz turned and walked toward the kitchen and when she turned the corner she saw a man covered in blood. She stood against the wall watching, keeping her eyes on him. She watched as he rummaged through things. She didn't know what to do or say. A few minutes later she stepped away from the wall, she could no longer see the man. She grabbed her things and was about to leave when someone grabbed her arm from behind. When she turned she saw the man standing in front of her. She and the stranger both stared at each other.
"Who are you? And what do you want?" Liz asked.
"I should be asking you the same thing," The guy said.
"No, really, who are you? And what do you want?" Liz asked.
"I'm looking for something?" The guy said
"And what would that be?" Liz asked.

Liz and the stranger looked at each other.
"Well,I"d better go and by the way, you have a great body," The guy said before he left.
Liz watched him leave and then she turned and saw Max standing in front of her. Max noticed immediately noticed that she was worried and scared.
"Liz what's wrong?" He asked.
"Can we please go Max?" She asked with concern.
" Yeah,are you OK?" Now Max was getting worried.
"I'll tell you when we get to your house," she replied.
"OK. Lets go then." Max said.
Max grabbed Liz's jacket and purse while Liz made sure all the doors were locked and they met at the front door. Max locked the front door after they exited the building and then they headed to Max's car. Soon they were on their way to Max's house.
After arriving at Max's house and they had entered Max asked Liz,
"Please tell me what is wrong?"
"Max promise me you will be calm and not get pissed?"
" Yes, I promise to be calm and to not get pissed.. So will you just tell me?"
"There was a strange guy in the club and he, um, told me to tell you that it is time for pay back. It's time for things to come back and bite you on the ass. He said you're going to know pain," Liz explained.
"Do you know who the guy was?" Max asked.
"Max, he is the guy from the time when we were telling you and Michael about the danger," Liz said.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes he is the same guy. What are we going to do now?" Liz asked.
"First, I want you, Michael, Maria and the others to stay out of this."
"Why? Why can't we help you?" Liz was becoming very agitated.
"Because I want you and everyone else safe. This person seems to be after me and no one else. Let's keep it that way." Max said.
"But Max," Liz said.
"No buts about it. You need to stay out of it," Max was determined to make Liz understand.
" Max this could be dangerous."
"I know. But I need to handle this on my own."
Liz looked down at the floor then looked up at Max.
"Max. Please promise me, as my friend, you'll be careful and not take any risks." Liz pleaded.
"Yes, I promise. Liz everything will be fine."
"I hope your right."
"You know I am. So would you like to see the house?" Max asked.
"Yes. But you'd better behave yourself or you'll be sorry." Liz said.
"OK. Come on. Max said.
Max showed Liz a huge living room with a black living room set; even the shelves were black and in the kitchen the counters and fridge were black also. After looking at the living room and kitchen they walked into the dining room. The rug, and the table and chairs were black as well. After the dining room Max took Liz upstairs to the bed rooms. The first room was Michael's; it was done in dark navy. The bed, the chairs and the tables were all in dark navy.
Max shut the door and turned to look at Liz and they both smiled as Max took Liz down the hallway to the bathroom. When he opened the door she noticed that the bathroom was done in a dark green. It had a hot tub and a shower, the shelves held many black and hunter green towels.Then they walked down the hallway and stooped at the last room at the end of the hallway and Max turned and looked at Liz.
"This is my room. Sorry it's kind of a mess," Max said
"Max who cares. Let me see."
Max opened the door and Liz walked into the room she saw that the room was done in black, white and red.The bed and curtains were black, the blinds and rugs were red and the table, chairs,shelves, closet and dressers were black, white and red. Liz turned around and saw Max looking at her. She smiled at Max and then walked up to the window. When she pulled open the curtains she saw that Max could see a little into their house. When Liz turned around Max was standing behind her and they both stood looking at each other.
"So this is my room," Max said.
"Your room looks nice... except for the mess of course."
"Yeah. Well sometimes I'm a messy person,"
"I can kinda tell but it's okay." Liz said.
"I guess that is a good thing to know," Max said.
"Yeah, I guess it is. Do you and Michael watch us from here?" Liz asked.
"No. But every once in a while I'll check and see if you're both safe,"
"I think that is nice of you." Liz said.
"Thanks. Are you ready to go watch a movie,"
"Yeah, sure,"
They walked down the hall and headed down the stairs right into the living room. Max picked out two movies and then turned to ask Liz,
"Do you want to watch "Jennifer's Body" and "The Last House On The Left"?" Max asked.
"Yeah, sure."
"Which one do you want to watch first?"
"You pick,"
"Um, OK," And Max made a choice.
He walked up to the DVD player, opened the case and put the DVD into the player and touched start. He then walked over to the lamps and turned them off and grabbed a blanket before he sat down next to Liz and started the movie. As the movie started to play they looked at each other for a second and then Liz asked,
"What movie are we watching?"
"Oh, we're watching "Jennifer's Body" first, I thought it might be a good movie to start off with."
"Oh, OK," Liz said.
As they watched the movie they sat close together and when they got to a scary parts Liz ended up sitting on Max's lap, hiding her face on his shoulders. Max pulled Liz close and held her. After the movie was over they looked at each other and Max said,
"Well what did you think?"
"That movie was very scary,"
"Sorry. Would you like something to drink and some popcorn before we watch the other movie?" Max asked.
"Yeah, that sounds good,"
Max went into the kitchen and grabbed two cans of Pepsi and then he made some popcorn. After the popcorn was popped he went back into the living room where he saw Liz sitting with the covers over her.
Liz looked up and saw Max looking at her, he smiled as he walked up to her and sat the drinks and popcorn down. He went over to the DVD player and changed the discs and then went back and sat down next to Liz and set the DVD player to play and as the movie played Max and Liz sat close together. Liz got scared during some part of the movie and Max held Liz close to him as the movie played.
Liz kept jumping at the parts that scared her and Max tried to get her to stop being jumpy but he really didn't mind...After the second movie was over Max decided to put another one on to play.
"Max,what movie are we going to watch now?" Liz asked

"It's a surprise...you have to wait and see," Max said.
"Am I going to like watching this?"
"Yes. You'll like the movie, so don't worry,"
When Liz saw the title of the movie she turned and looked at Max and he just smiled at her.
"We're watching the back up plan." Liz smiled
"Yes I thought you might want to see this one." Max said.
"Thank you," Liz said as she settled down into the couch next to Max.
They enjoyed the movie and laughed at the funny parts, they were having a great time and after the movie was over Max decided that they should watch "Sleepy Hollow". While they were watching the movie Max and Liz both started to fall asleep so Max laid down on his back with Liz laying on top of him, he pulled the covers over both of them and they slept.
Meanwhile at Liz and Maria's house...
When Michael took Maria home they were both shocked to find the house empty. They checked all of the rooms and no one was there.
"I wonder where Max and Liz are," Maria asked.
"Who knows. All I hope is that they try to be friends," Michael said.
"Yeah, I agree with you there. I hate it when they can't be friends," Maria said.
"Yeah, that is so true. So what should we do now," Michael asked.
"You.. I mean, we can sit and watch TV." Maria said, correcting herself before she had Michael thinking he could watch TV alone.
"OK," Michael agreed.
They both went into the living room and took a seat on the couch together. Maria found the remote and tuned the TV to a movie called "Nim's Island" and they both sat back close to each other, relaxed and enjoyed the movie. As they were watching the TV Maria noticed that it was already midnight and still no Liz, she shrugged and continued to watch the movie. When the movie was over Michael grabbed the remote and started to flip through the channels and he stopped when he found a movie called "Titanic". An hour later Michael and Maria were fast asleep in each others arms.
In the morning:
Michael and Maria both woke up when his cell phone started ringing...Michael reached into his pocket and put the phone to his ear..
"Hello. Who is this?" Michael asked.
"Hey, its me Toney. Can you, Max and the girls come to the house? We need to talk about the party Friday."
"Um,sure. We'll be there in a few," Michael said.
"OK. We'll see you soon then."
"Yeah, OK." Michael said.
Michael closed his cell phone and put it back in his pocket then looked at Maria and said,
"We need to get up and get cleaned up."
"Why, what is going on?"
"Toney wants all of us to be at his house to talk about the the party Friday night,"
"OK. Just let me go change clothes."
Maria ran upstairs, took a quick shower, brushed her teeth and changed into a pair of jeans and a blue t-shirt, combed her hair then went back down to meet Michael.
Micheal was sitting on the couch waiting for her and then she asked,
"Are you going to call Max?"
"Yeah, I better do that now huh?"
Michael reached into his pocket and pulled out his cell phone and dialed Max's number. The phone rang three times before someone answered...
"Hello." Liz asked.
"Who is this?" Michael asked.
"This is Liz, who is this?" Liz asked.
"Liz, it's me Michael. Where are you and Max?" Michael asked.
"Michael? We are at your place." Liz said.
"Liz, why do you have Max's phone? And where is Max?" Michael asked.
"Because the phone is next to me and Max is still asleep." Liz said.
"Wait. You're with Max? You're both in bed" Together?" Michael screeched.
"Michael don't start. What do you want?"
"Toney wants us to meet him at his house to plan a party for Friday," Michael said.
"Oh. OK, hold on. Max you need to wake up. We need to go to Toney"s," Liz said.
"What?" Max asked.
"We need to get up and go to Tonye's today,"
"Fine I'm up. Um why did you answer my phone?" Max asked, nodding toward the phone in Liz's hand.
"Because it woke me up. Here talk to Michael," she said.
Liz sat up and then stood up to stretch, while Liz stood up Max grabbed his cell phone and put it to his ear.
"Yeah, this is Max. What do you need?" He said.
"Max it's Michael. Where are you and Liz?" he asked.
"We are at the house. Why, what is going on?" Max asked.
"So your at the house. Did you and Liz sleep together? Why did she answer the phone?" Michael was really curious now.
"No, me and Liz didn't sleep together. We fell asleep watching TV. Liz answered the phone because it was on the table. Is there anything else you need to know?" Max asked.
"No. You and Liz need to change clothes. We need to go to Toney's to talk about his party coming up on Friday?" Michael said.
"OK. Let me change then I'll bring Liz home to change. Where are you?" Max asked.
"I'm at the girls house waiting for you and Liz," Michael said.
"OK. We'll be there in 10 minutes," Max said before he closed his cell phone.
Max looked up and saw Liz looking at him.
"What?" Max asked.
"Are you going to tell Michael about that guy yesterday?"
"No. I'm going to handle this on my own,"
"Max I think you should tell Michael. He can help you if you need it,"
"Liz I know Michael would help me. But I want to do this on my own. Can you understand that?" Max was trying to make Liz understand how he felt about this.
"Yes I can understand. But I don't want to see you get hurt," Liz said.
"Liz I promise I won't get hurt,"
"I'm going to hold you to that,"
"Liz I promise. So don't worry,"
"Fine. But I still think you should tell Michael,"
"Why?"
"What happens if he is after you AND Michael? What are you going to do then?"
"Liz don't worry. I'll handle this on my own."
"Fine. But just watch your back. And you know we'll be here if you need help,"
"Liz I know that OK. I um better get cleaned up. Be back in a few minutes,"
Liz nodded her head and sat down, she knew she shouldn't be worried but she was REALLY worried about this, then she got upset...
She stood up and grabbed her purse and looked around and just as she got to the front door Max came down the stairs. They looked at each other for a few seconds and then Liz walked out the door. Max stood there for a few seconds and then ran after her. When he got outside Liz was already in her driveway and Max ran across the street to catch up with her.
When Max finally caught up to Liz she was walking into the house where Maria and Michael were waiting for them. Michael and Maria walked into the hallway and saw Liz and Max coming into the house, they both could tell that Liz was pissed but they didn't know what had made her mad.
"Hey! What's going on?" Maria asked.
Liz turned and looked at Michael and then Maria.
"Why don't you ask the jerk, I need to change clothes," Liz said.
"Liz?" Max asked...
Liz turned and looked at Max and then she turned and ran up the stairs to her room. Michael and Maria both looked at Max,
"What was that all about? And why did Liz call you a jerk?" Maria asked.

"You.. I mean, we can sit and watch TV." Maria said, correcting herself before she had Michael thinking he could watch TV alone.
"OK," Michael agreed.
They both went into the living room and took a seat on the couch together. Maria found the remote and tuned the TV to a movie called "Nim's Island" and they both sat back close to each other, relaxed and enjoyed the movie. As they were watching the TV Maria noticed that it was already midnight and still no Liz, she shrugged and continued to watch the movie. When the movie was over Michael grabbed the remote and started to flip through the channels and he stopped when he found a movie called "Titanic". An hour later Michael and Maria were fast asleep in each others arms.
In the morning:
Michael and Maria both woke up when his cell phone started ringing...Michael reached into his pocket and put the phone to his ear..
"Hello. Who is this?" Michael asked.
"Hey, its me Toney. Can you, Max and the girls come to the house? We need to talk about the party Friday."
"Um,sure. We'll be there in a few," Michael said.
"OK. We'll see you soon then."
"Yeah, OK." Michael said.
Michael closed his cell phone and put it back in his pocket then looked at Maria and said,
"We need to get up and get cleaned up."
"Why, what is going on?"
"Toney wants all of us to be at his house to talk about the the party Friday night,"
"OK. Just let me go change clothes."
Maria ran upstairs, took a quick shower, brushed her teeth and changed into a pair of jeans and a blue t-shirt, combed her hair then went back down to meet Michael.
Micheal was sitting on the couch waiting for her and then she asked,
"Are you going to call Max?"
"Yeah, I better do that now huh?"
Michael reached into his pocket and pulled out his cell phone and dialed Max's number. The phone rang three times before someone answered...
"Hello." Liz asked.
"Who is this?" Michael asked.
"This is Liz, who is this?" Liz asked.
"Liz, it's me Michael. Where are you and Max?" Michael asked.
"Michael? We are at your place." Liz said.
"Liz, why do you have Max's phone? And where is Max?" Michael asked.
"Because the phone is next to me and Max is still asleep." Liz said.
"Wait. You're with Max? You're both in bed" Together?" Michael screeched.
"Michael don't start. What do you want?"
"Toney wants us to meet him at his house to plan a party for Friday," Michael said.
"Oh. OK, hold on. Max you need to wake up. We need to go to Toney"s," Liz said.
"What?" Max asked.
"We need to get up and go to Tonye's today,"
"Fine I'm up. Um why did you answer my phone?" Max asked, nodding toward the phone in Liz's hand.
"Because it woke me up. Here talk to Michael," she said.
Liz sat up and then stood up to stretch, while Liz stood up Max grabbed his cell phone and put it to his ear.
"Yeah, this is Max. What do you need?" He said.
"Max it's Michael. Where are you and Liz?" he asked.
"We are at the house. Why, what is going on?" Max asked.
"So your at the house. Did you and Liz sleep together? Why did she answer the phone?" Michael was really curious now.
"No, me and Liz didn't sleep together. We fell asleep watching TV. Liz answered the phone because it was on the table. Is there anything else you need to know?" Max asked.
"No. You and Liz need to change clothes. We need to go to Toney's to talk about his party coming up on Friday?" Michael said.
"OK. Let me change then I'll bring Liz home to change. Where are you?" Max asked.
"I'm at the girls house waiting for you and Liz," Michael said.
"OK. We'll be there in 10 minutes," Max said before he closed his cell phone.
Max looked up and saw Liz looking at him.
"What?" Max asked.
"Are you going to tell Michael about that guy yesterday?"
"No. I'm going to handle this on my own,"
"Max I think you should tell Michael. He can help you if you need it,"
"Liz I know Michael would help me. But I want to do this on my own. Can you understand that?" Max was trying to make Liz understand how he felt about this.
"Yes I can understand. But I don't want to see you get hurt," Liz said.
"Liz I promise I won't get hurt,"
"I'm going to hold you to that,"
"Liz I promise. So don't worry,"
"Fine. But I still think you should tell Michael,"
"Why?"
"What happens if he is after you AND Michael? What are you going to do then?"
"Liz don't worry. I'll handle this on my own."
"Fine. But just watch your back. And you know we'll be here if you need help,"
"Liz I know that OK. I um better get cleaned up. Be back in a few minutes,"
Liz nodded her head and sat down, she knew she shouldn't be worried but she was REALLY worried about this, then she got upset...
She stood up and grabbed her purse and looked around and just as she got to the front door Max came down the stairs. They looked at each other for a few seconds and then Liz walked out the door. Max stood there for a few seconds and then ran after her. When he got outside Liz was already in her driveway and Max ran across the street to catch up with her.
When Max finally caught up to Liz she was walking into the house where Maria and Michael were waiting for them. Michael and Maria walked into the hallway and saw Liz and Max coming into the house, they both could tell that Liz was pissed but they didn't know what had made her mad.
"Hey! What's going on?" Maria asked.
Liz turned and looked at Michael and then Maria.
"Why don't you ask the jerk, I need to change clothes," Liz said.
"Liz?" Max asked...
Liz turned and looked at Max and then she turned and ran up the stairs to her room. Michael and Maria both looked at Max,
"What was that all about? And why did Liz call you a jerk?" Maria asked.

"Maria don't worry about it. It's something I have to handle on my own," Max said.
"Why do I get a bad feeling when you say that,"
"Maria, you and Liz need to stop having bad feelings and quit worrying!" Max said.
"Whatever," Maria clipped back.
"Do you know what kind of a party Toney wants to have this time?" Max asked.
"Who knows with Toney. All of his parties are crazy." Michael said.
"Yeah, that is true," Max answered.
"Liz, come on we need to go," Michael yelled.
"God. Just a minute," Liz yelled.
A few minutes later Liz walked down the stairs wearing hip-hugger jeans and a lite blue off the shoulders shirt with black boots. When Max saw Liz he was shocked but he also realized that Liz was beautiful.
"Well, lets go see what Toney wants," Liz said as she grabbed her purse.
When Liz looked up after getting her purse she noticed Max watching her.
"What?" Liz asked.
"You look nice," Max said with a smile.
"Thanks...shall we leave?" she replied.
Liz walked past Max and out the door and when she looked up she saw a man over at Max's house and she watched him looking around. She quickly reached into her purse and pulled out her cell phone and dialed the cops. The phone rang three times before someone finally answered.
"Yes may I help you?" The Officer asked.
"Yes someone is trying to break into a house across the street from me," Liz said.
"We are sending someone as we speak. Thank you for calling," Officer said.
Liz closed her cell phone and turned to see Max, Maria and Michael all looking at her.
"Who did you just call?" Max asked
"Oh, don't worry about it. I handled it," Liz said.
"What did you just handle?" Max asked.
"For me to know and for you to guess," Liz said.
Maria and Michael watched Max and Liz a arguing and as they were standing there arguing they heard sirens coming. Maria and Michael didn't know what was gong on and as Liz and Max argued Maria and Michael watched the cops drive to Max and Michael's place and watched the cops look around.
"Um Max. Liz. stop." Maria yelled.
"Oh God! Why is this happening now." Michael asked.
"Who knows. All I know is it's going to be interesting to see happens next." Maria said.
"Maybe they'll kill each other," Michael said almost hoping for a miracle.
"Great. A cop is coming over. Max. Liz." Maria yelled.
Max and Liz turned and looked at Maria and Michael.
"What?" They said together.
"Um, behind you," Michael pointed.
Liz and Max turned and saw an officer standing in back of them.
"Can you please tell me which one of you called?" The Officer asked.
"Why?" Max asked.
" We caught the person trying to break into the house across the street. Whoever called did a good deed. The man we caught was wanted for killing three people and robbing houses to get drugs," the officer said.
"I was the one that called and these two guys are the ones that live there," Liz said.
"Well Miss you did a great job. And guys, you're lucky he couldn't get into the house." the officer said.
"Um. Thanks for letting us know." Michael said.
"Um Miss can I talk to you alone for a second?" The officer asked Liz.
"Sure,"
Liz and the officer walked to the end of the driveway and faced each other.
"So how have you been?" The officer asked.
"Do I know you?" Liz asked.
"Liz its me Dave," The officer said.
Oh, my God . It's so good to see you."
"It's good to see you too."
"God. It's been 5 years since you moved. You look great. Tell me did you marry Kelly?" Liz asked.
"Yeah, we did get married, we are expecting twins in a couple of months." Dave said.
"That is so great. I'm so sorry for everything my dad did back then." Liz said.
"Don't worry about it but you should know your dad scares me." Dave said.
"He scares everyone...you know," Liz said.
"Yeah, I know. Well I better let you go. That guy you were arguing with seems to be getting upset." Dave said.
"Ah, don't worry about him he's is just being a jerk right now," Liz said.
"Still I better let you go. See you around." Dave said.
"Yeah, See you around.. Tell Kelly I said hello,"
"Sure thing." Dave said as he walked away.
Liz turned and walked back up the driveway toward the rest of the group and they all stood there watching her, looking puzzled...
"What?" Liz asked.
"What was that? And who is he?" Max asked.
"Max , that is none of your business. So leave it alone." Liz said.
"What car are we taking?" Maria asked, trying to change the subject.
"Lets take our car. You girls don't mind do you?" Michael asked.
"No, lets go," Liz said.
Michael and Maria got in the front seat leaving Max and Liz to the back seat alone and they took off.
A few minutes later, When they got to Toney's, everyone got out of the car and followed Michael to the front door. After they walked in they all followed Michael into the living room where they saw Toney and Alice waiting for them. Liz and Maria sat on the love seat while Max and Michael stood against the wall.
"What's going on?" Michael asked.
"I've got a theme for the party." Toney said.
"And what would that be?" Max asked.
"Easy I'm going to have a Halloween party. Everyone is going to dress up. What do you think?" Toney asked.
"It sounds good." Michael said.
"What do you girls think?" Toney asked.
"Um... sounds good. It should be fun," Liz said.
"Great. I'll call everyone and let them know we are having a Halloween party in four days." Toney said.
"So what are you girls going to dress up as?" Alice asked.
"You'll have to wait and see," Liz said.
"Good answer Liz. I would hate it if we dressed the same." Alice said with a mean attitude.
"Yeah, I'll bet," Maria said.
Michael and Max both turned and looked at Maria and Liz then at Alice. They
both knew that something weird was going on.
"So what time do we need to be here for the party?" Michael asked.
"You all should be here at 8 p.m., the party will start when everyone gets here." Toney said.
Chapter 56

"So do you need us to come and set up for the party?" Max asked
"Um, no we've got some people to do that," Toney said.
"Great. So is that all we need to talk about?" Michael asked.
"Um, guys can you leave Liz and me alone we need to talk for a minute?" Toney asked
"Yeah, sure. We'll be outside. Liz let me know when your ready to leave," Max said.
"Yeah, sure,"
Everyone walked out of the living room leaving Liz and Toney alone, staring at each other.
"So what do you need to talk to me about?" Liz asked.
"Do remember when you told me I needed to decide between work and you?" Toney asked.
"Yeah, So what about it?" Liz asked
"Well I wanted to let you know I am still thinking about it,"
"I figured you were going to say that,"
"Well, I'll let you know soon Liz."
"Great, I'd better go. I need to get everything setup for your party,"
"I hope you will still come to the party,"
"Toney, we're still going to come to your party. We just need to go shopping for our costumes today," Liz said reassuringly.
"Well I hope you find a great costume."
"I promise I'll get a great costume."
"Great. I can't wait to see what you come as."
"Toney, what are you and Alice?" Liz surprised Toney with this question.
"Alice and I are friends, Why do you ask?"
"Because you and Alice seem to be too close to be friends," Liz stated.
"Liz, trust me, Alice and I are just friends just like you and Max are just friends." Toney pointed out.
"Of course, Max and I are just friends."
"Just like Alice and I are just friends?" Toney asked
"Yeah, just like that." Liz answered.
"So, um do you think a fog machine would be too much for the party?" Toney asked.
"No... I think that's a great idea."
"Good, I just want to make sure everything is perfect." Toney said.
"Yeah, That's what I'm hoping for."
"Well hopefully it will be. Um I better go." Liz said pointing toward the door.
"Um, OK. I guess I'll see you later."
"Yeah, sure."
Liz stood up and walked toward the living room door and when she turned she saw Alice and Max hugging. She was shocked at what she was seeing and she took a step back and looked around and yelled...
"Max, Maria and Michael where are you?"
She turned and looked around and was about about to walk down the hallway when she heard a door open and there stood Max and Alice in front of her.
"Max do you know where Maria is? I need to talk to her," Liz asked
"I think Maria and Michael went outside for some air," he answered.
"Oh, well I better go see if I can find them," Liz said.
"Liz, wait," Max said
But Liz was already down the hall. When she stepped on to the porch and looked around there stood Michael and Maria kissing, she smiled and turned away. She knew they needed some alone time so she waited a few seconds before saying anything.
"Maria can we go home please?"
"Liz what is wrong?" Maria asked.
"Nothing. I just want to go home."
"Um, sure. I can take you girls home," Michael said.
"Thanks Michael that would be great."
"No problem. We've got to find Max then we can go." Michael said.
"Great," Liz said.
Right at that moment Max walked out of the house on to the porch to join his friends who were all ready to go and look for him.
"What's going on?" Max asked.
"The girls are ready to go home," Michael said.
"Oh, already," Max said.
"Yes, we'd like to go home now." Liz said.
"OK then, lets go," Max said.
They all headed for Michael's car and when they were all settled in Michael took off. Liz and Max didn't have anything to say to each other on the ride home and When Michael pulled into the drive way Liz got out of the car and walked to the house alone. She unlocked the door. walked into the house and up the stairs to her room and shut the door and sat on her bed.
Meanwhile downstairs:
When the other three walked into the house they heard a door slam shut and they all looked at each other in surprise.
"What is wrong with Liz?" Maria asked.
"I don't know, Liz and Toney talked but no one knows what they talked about." Max said.
"Well she'll tell us when she's ready." Maria said.
"I'm hoping whatever it is that has her mad is not bad." Max said.
"We'll just have to wait and see," Michael said.
Max walked out the door and headed across the street to his house and when he got into the house he laid down on the couch and fell asleep.
Meanwhile at the girls house Liz was fast asleep in her bed. While Michael and Maria were on the couch asleep.
A few hours later Liz woke up and went downstairs and headed for the kitchen. When she got there she saw Max sitting at the kitchen table. He looked up and saw Liz.
"What are you doing here?" She asked.
"I um, I wanted to talk to you." He answered
"What about?" She asked.
"I wanted to say thank you for calling the police for us."
"Max that was no problem...so what did you do while I talked to Toney?" Liz asked.
"Nothing. I just went to get me a drink and I stayed in the kitchen." Max said.
"Oh, that sounds boring,"
"Well, yeah, it was."
"Are Michael and Maria still a sleep?"
"Yeah, they are. I hope that they had a great date,"
'Yeah, I hope so too."
They both looked at each other and then turned away.
"So what did you and Toney talk about?" Max asked.
"Oh, you know, about his party and what is going on with him and Alice," Liz said.
"What did Toney tell you?" Max asked, showing just a little more interest in the conversation.
"Max... all he told me was that they are friends. There is nothing going on between them."
"Oh, So that is what he said."
"Max, I have something to tell you." Liz said.
"What?"
"Max I wanted to, um, let you know I saw you," Liz said.
"You saw me do what?" Max asked.
"Max I saw you and Alice together. The way it looked was... that there was something going on between you two so I'm asking, what is going on between you and Alice?"

"No problem. We've got to find Max then we can go." Michael said.
"Great," Liz said.
Right at that moment Max walked out of the house on to the porch to join his friends who were all ready to go and look for him.
"What's going on?" Max asked.
"The girls are ready to go home," Michael said.
"Oh, already," Max said.
"Yes, we'd like to go home now." Liz said.
"OK then, lets go," Max said.
They all headed for Michael's car and when they were all settled in Michael took off. Liz and Max didn't have anything to say to each other on the ride home and When Michael pulled into the drive way Liz got out of the car and walked to the house alone. She unlocked the door. walked into the house and up the stairs to her room and shut the door and sat on her bed.
Meanwhile downstairs:
When the other three walked into the house they heard a door slam shut and they all looked at each other in surprise.
"What is wrong with Liz?" Maria asked.
"I don't know, Liz and Toney talked but no one knows what they talked about." Max said.
"Well she'll tell us when she's ready." Maria said.
"I'm hoping whatever it is that has her mad is not bad." Max said.
"We'll just have to wait and see," Michael said.
Max walked out the door and headed across the street to his house and when he got into the house he laid down on the couch and fell asleep.
Meanwhile at the girls house Liz was fast asleep in her bed. While Michael and Maria were on the couch asleep.
A few hours later Liz woke up and went downstairs and headed for the kitchen. When she got there she saw Max sitting at the kitchen table. He looked up and saw Liz.
"What are you doing here?" She asked.
"I um, I wanted to talk to you." He answered
"What about?" She asked.
"I wanted to say thank you for calling the police for us."
"Max that was no problem...so what did you do while I talked to Toney?" Liz asked.
"Nothing. I just went to get me a drink and I stayed in the kitchen." Max said.
"Oh, that sounds boring,"
"Well, yeah, it was."
"Are Michael and Maria still a sleep?"
"Yeah, they are. I hope that they had a great date,"
'Yeah, I hope so too."
They both looked at each other and then turned away.
"So what did you and Toney talk about?" Max asked.
"Oh, you know, about his party and what is going on with him and Alice," Liz said.
"What did Toney tell you?" Max asked, showing just a little more interest in the conversation.
"Max... all he told me was that they are friends. There is nothing going on between them."
"Oh, So that is what he said."
"Max, I have something to tell you." Liz said.
"What?"
"Max I wanted to, um, let you know I saw you," Liz said.
"You saw me do what?" Max asked.
"Max I saw you and Alice together. The way it looked was... that there was something going on between you two so I'm asking, what is going on between you and Alice?"

Chapter 58
"What?" Max asked with a surprised look on his face...
"Max, I saw you and Alice together, I was just wondering..."
"Liz, Alice and I were talking when you saw us together"
"And what were you talking about?"
"Oh... she was telling me that she missed her baby."
"Oh, that is so sad."
Yeah, I guess it is."
"Yeah."
Liz turned away and went to the fridge to get a can of Pepsi and when she turned around Max was standing next to her and said...
"What did you and Toney talk about?"
"Oh, you um... about his party. And then about me or what he does for a living. And we also talked about what was going on between him and Alice."
"Wow you had a lot to talk about,"
"Yeah, I guess we did."
"So what are we going to do to today?"
"You my dear friend are coming with me to find costumes for the party."
"What?"
"Yeah, so you better be ready to leave here in a few minutes."
"Wait a minute, why do I have to go?"
"Because if you don't go with me then I'll tell Michael about the guy from the other night."
"You wouldn't dare."
"I would. So you better be ready to go."
"Liz?" Max yelled as she walked out the door.
Liz walked into the hallway and grabbed her purse and jacket and then turned and saw Max standing in the doorway looking at her.
"Ready to go?"
"Why do I have to go again?" Max asked the question for the second time...
"Because you need to pick out your costume and to help me get Maria and Michael their costumes."
"You know what, you're crazy."
"I'm not crazy. I just want to be ready"
"Fine. But you can't drag me into every store in town."
"Come on," Liz said as she dragged Max out of the house.
It didn't take them very long to drive to the costume shop and a few minutes later they were at the costume store where they both got out of the car and went in. They went in two different directions looking for costumes. Liz walked down a long aisle where she turned right and found the perfect costume for her. Then she started to look around for Maria's costume. A few minutes later she found the perfect costume for her.
Meanwhile , on the other side of the store Max found Michael and him a costume as well and then he looked around and couldn't find Liz anywhere. Max was beginning to wonder if she was still in the store. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his cell phone and dialed Liz's phone number and Liz answered on the third ring.
"Hello?"
"Liz where are you? Are you still in the store?"
"Yes, I'm still in the store. Where are you?" Liz said as she looked around.
"I'm still looking for a couple of things. What about you?"
"I'm paying for mine and Maria's costumes right now. Are you finished or are you still looking?"
"I need to pay yet,I'll meet you out front," Max said
"OK. I'll be waiting,"
When Liz turned around Max was standing in front of her and they looked at each other and smiled. Max walked up to the register and paid for the costume rentals and then he and Liz headed on home.
It didn't take very long to get back to Liz's house and then Max asked Liz....
"So did you get everything you and Maria need for the party?"
"Yeah, I did. Do you guys have everything you need for the party?"
"Yeah, I think so."
"Max are you OK? I mean you seem, I don't know."
"Yeah, I'm fine. I just got a lot on my mind,"
"Max. I think you need to talk to Michael. Let him know what's going on."
"Liz, I'm not telling Michael ."
"I think you need to tell someone about that guy and what he said."
"No. I'm not telling anyone. You need to forget it."
"Max I can't. I want to help you."
"No one can help me. I'm going to handle this on my own."
"What if it's dangerous?"
"Liz, don't worry, I'll handle it. Everything is going to be fine."
"Max, what if this is something you can't handle. You might need Michael to help you and this could be very dangerous."
"Liz don't worry. I can handle it. Just trust me."
"What? Max, I don't think you doing this on your own is such a good idea."
"Well too damn bad! I'm going to handle this on my own. I don't want anyone to help me."
"But Max?"
"But nothing, I'm going to do this on my own."
"I think you're crazy and you know it could be dangerous."
"Yeah, I might be crazy and it might be dangerous but I want to handle it on my own."
Max and Liz grabbed their costumes and went into the house where Liz put hers and Maria's costumes in the closet and Max put his and Michael's on the table. Then they went into the living room where they found Michael and Maria making out again...they looked at each other and then Liz asked....
"Um, do you want to um, get something to drink?"
"Sure. What do you have ?"
"Well lets go see," Liz said before walking out of the living room.
They left the living room and went into the kitchen where Liz went to the fridge and grabbed two cans of beer. Liz handed Max his beer and he started to look around not sure of what to do next.
"How long do you think we should wait before we break them up?" Max asked.
"Give them a few minutes then we'll go in." Liz said with a grin.
"I guess that's a good idea. I can't believe how they are." Max said.
"Max, they're in love. I think it's kinda sweet."
"Liz, are you a romantic?"
"I believe in romance. And I believe in fighting for what you want."
"Well it's good to know what you believe in."
"What about you? What do you believe in?"
"I don't know about romance but I do believe in fighting for what I want. And... I try to handle things as best I can"
"OK. The romance thing, I think you need to work on that. The fighting for what you want is good too but, about you handling things as best you can, that is something I would worry about."
"Why ? what's wrong with trying to handle things on my own," Max asked.
"Because that could be dangerous. You could end up hurt or dead trying to handle things on your own "
"OK. I see what you're talking about. And I understand it but I still want to try to handle this on my own."
"Max, that is dangerous thinking you can't do everything alone."
"But I know I can handle it."
"Yeah, right," Liz said as she walked out of the kitchen.
"Hey!" Max said as he followed Liz.
They walked into the living room where Max grabbed Liz by the arm and turned her to face him.
"What did you mean by that?" He asked
