Where We Belong (AU,M/L,TEEN) Pt 10 - 06/27/04 {WIP}
Title: Where We Belong
Rating: TEEN
Pairing: M/L, M/M, L/?
Disclaimer: I don’t own anything
Summary: Set 5 years after Departure. Liz, Maria and Kyle didn’t get to the granolith in time, and the aliens returned home, not knowing what Tess did. Now 5 years later, they are forced to go back to Roswell...however in the time that has passed.. Roswell is not completely as they remember it...
Authors Note: I started a story a while ago but it wasn’t that great so I have kinda added some things to it, changed it a bit. I’m writing this story as it comes so I’m not completely sure of the pairings.
Prologue
5 years earlier... “So I'm supposed to look around the room and what?” asked Kyle. “I don't know, see if you have an unusual response to anything,” replied Liz.
Kyle continued to look around the room, tapping his fingers. After a while he sighed. “Sorry, nothing,” he said. “Kyle, it could be really close, so keep looking, keep trying.” Liz pleaded. Kyle turned back and continued to look around the room. Suddenly he dropped his glass as a vision of Alex appeared before him.
*Flash*
“You did this to me, you sent me to Las Cruces,” said a scared looking Alex. “Okay, Alex, Alex let me fix your mind, you're not thinking straight,” Tess pleaded. “You did this to me, you sent me to Las Cruces,” Alex continued. “ You mind warped me for two months while I decoded that silly book for you and now there's nothing left for you to mind warp. You destroyed my mind! How could you do this to me?” At that moment Kyle walks in. “Kyle get out!” Tess ordered. “What's going on?” Kyle asked. Alex looked at him with fear in his eyes. “I have nothing, I might as well be dead,” he said painfully. “ Hey just calm down!” Kyle said, a bit freaked out by what he was seeing. “He's right okay. Calm down! Just calm down!” Tess said. She starts to mind warp Alex again. Alex’s face twists in horror. “No, you can't mind warp me. NO!!!!” he screamed, and then he collapsed to the floor.
Kyle and Tess outside. Kyle is pulling Alex’s body and Tess is walking in front of him. “Your duffel's all loaded,” Kyle said as he put Alex into the car. “Thanks Kyle,” Tess replied with a blank expression on her face. “Want me to come along?” Kyle asked. “No. Go in the house. I'll take care of everything from here,” Tess ordered.
*Flash*
Kyle turned around with a look of horror on his face. “I carried his body. She made me think it was luggage. She killed him. Tess killed Alex!” he choked out. With that they all rushed out of the room and headed off in Maria’s Jetta towards the Granilith Chamber.
Liz, Maria and Kyle were all in the car with scared looks on their faces. They had to get there in time, they just had to. “There's the mile marker. Kyle, how much further?” Liz suddenly screamed out. “It's just up ahead,” replied Kyle, trying to sound as calm as he could. They all hopped out of the car and started to run up the hill towards the chamber.
Suddenly the ground began to rumble and rocks began to collapse. It was followed by a load roar as the granolith jolted out into the air and disappeared into space. Liz collapsed on her knees.
“Nooo,” she moaned. “Oh my God,” whispered Maria. “There gone, there really gone.” Kyle walked over to Liz, who had her head in her hands, still on the ground. “Come on Liz, lets go home," he said. Liz took his hand and pulled herself up. They all started to walk back down the hill. Liz turned around and looked in the direction where the granolith had ripped her love away from her. “Goodbye....” she whispered.

There was a bang, followed by a crash. Max woke as Michael came bursting into his bedroom. “What is it Michael?” Max mumbled, still half asleep, and oblivious to the noises outside.
“It’s started.” Is all Michael said, and Max knew. His eyes widened in terror. “There not supposed to be here so soon! We’re not ready for them!” “I know we’re not, but they are outside and they wanna see some blood spilt.” Michael informed.
Max reached over the bed and looked at the sleeping body next to him. Tess slowly opened her eyes and made cute little mumbling noises. “What is it Maxy?” she said, not aware of Michael being in the room.
After all these years, Max still wished and longed that it was Liz’s voice that spoke back to him. He felt guilty for thinking such a thing like that. Tess had stuck by him, they had a son together. But now wasn’t the time to worry about something like that.
“Tess listen to me.” Max said. “ Their here. Michael and I have to fight them off.” Tess’s face turned pale. “Oh my god,’ she whispered. “Tess, I want you to go and wake up Zan, and then go with Isabel to the chamber. Make sure all the women and children are there ok? Can you do that?” Tess nodded, her whole body shaking with fright. “Ok, lets get going,” said Max.
Tess rushed into her 5 year old son’s room. “Zan, wake up!” Zan was a heavy sleeper, so Tess just picked him up and hurried out of the room to meet all the others. “Come Tess, we have to get to the chamber.”
Tess gave Zan to Isabel, then walked up to Max. “I can help,” she said. “Please let me fight with you.” “Tess, no.” Max said. “If something happens to me you need to take care of Zan. You have to stay with him until this is over. Ok?” Tess was disappointed, but she understood.
She joined Isabel and Zan and walked with them to the chamber where they would surely be spending the next 24 hours. When Max was sure that they had gone he said, “Ok Michael, this is where all our training pays off. We should split up, go different directions.” Michael nodded. “Be careful Max.” “You too Michael.” With that they split in their different directions, ready to kill who they had to. They both knew tonight wouldn’t be pretty.
On Earth
Liz Parker slowly took her time in the hospital doing her daily jobs as usual. She was in no rush to get home, there was no one waiting for her, no one that she could cuddle up against. There hadn’t been anyone for 3 years now. She had given up on a hope of finding someone who could make her feel the way Max did.
For months after Max had gone up in the granolith back to his own planet, Liz sat in her bedroom, doing nothing at all. People started to question her sanity. Maria and Kyle were the only ones who understood why she was like that, and they argued that Liz was still sane, but couldn’t say anything else to back up their reasons. One day Maria gave Liz a huge talk in her room, and when she came back out again, Liz was back to her normal self, and started university.
She even dated Sean Deluca for a couple of months, but as much as she wanted it to work, she couldn’t find any lust or real romance in him. Then there was Matt. He went to the same university as her, and he was wild and exciting. The first month with him was great, but from then onwards things went down hill and she couldn’t get what she wanted out of the relationship. After that she just gave up. She stopped looking for someone special, knowing that the only special person for her was light years away, and never ever coming back.
“Parker, go home!” ordered Doctor Jackson. Liz looked up from her schedule. Doctor Jackson was her teacher, as she liked to call him. Just a couple more months and then she would be a proper doctor too. Liz lived for that moment; it was all she could think about.
“Oh, I’ve nearly finished Doctor,” she replied. “Parker, you finished an hour ago, now your just doing extra work. I’m concerned, I think you might be working yourself a little bit too hard.” “Doctor, I’m fine. I just love my job and I enjoy doing these extra jobs.”
That was partly the truth, anyway. She would never admit that she didn’t want to go home to the silence and coldness of her appartment. “I know you love your job Parker, and you know that you are my best ‘student’. You are going to make a fine Doctor.” Liz smiled. “Thankyou Doctor Jackson,” she replied.
The Doctor started to walk off, then turned around again. “Oh, I almost forgot. Parker, we are have a new potential doctor starting here tomorrow, Ben. He is about your age. I’m sure you both will get along fine, he is as eager to start as you were. Well, anyway, I will see you tomorrow Parker.” “Have a good night Doctor Jackson,” Liz replied, as she went back to working.
Finally Liz went home and opened the door of her apartment. She was welcomed by the silence and loneliness that she had got for 5 years. She went to the freezer and got out a frozen packet pasta dinner. Her stomach rumbled. There was no time for the microwave. She put her hand over the packet and turned it hot.

hey everyone. thanks for replying! i'm sorry you had to wait so long for the next part, but its my school holidays and ive been out a lot.
Part Two

Tess sat impatiently inside the chamber. She had managed to get Zan settled down, and now she was ready to go back outside and fight. She looked over at Isabel, who was sitting across the room from her, her eyes shut, trying to calm herself down.
Tess closed her own eyes. She thought about the first couple of weeks after they had arrived. She was all ready to turn them in; she didn’t care about what happened to any of them after she had. Then she found out that Khivar had been killed. No one would say how he died, no one talked about it. She remembered feeling disappointment and relief at the same time. In the end she grew to accept it, at least she got to keep Max.
She had been working on him a lot in the past five years. She smiled to herself when she remembered the day when Max decided to make her his proper girlfriend. He had finally given in, he had let go of that bitch Liz, and he was hers forever. Still he had not married her. It didn’t matter how many hints she dropped to him, he never understood how badly she wanted him to belong to her. She wanted things to be exactly the way they were in their past life. No one else understood. They couldn’t remember as much of their past life as she could.
It made her so angry, the way they still talked about Roswell and the people there. Tess had hoped so much that going to Antar would somehow make them forget about everything, but something’s just weren’t meant to be forgotten.
Every night Isabel would sit by herself at the lake and cry out for her parents. Isabel knew that they weren’t her real parents, but they had raised her, and she couldn’t stand to be separated from them. The only thing that got her through the day was knowing that Max was there with her.
Max was her home. She would also long for Alex. Even though she tried to hide it, everyone could tell though her ice queen image how much she loved Alex.
Tess’s thoughts turned to Michael. She thought about how close Michael came to staying on Earth. In the granolith he told them all about his long search for home, and finding that home was on Earth. Tess despised him for it. He was willing to give up all that he had ever dreamed of his whole life for what, Maria?
She couldn’t let that happen. So she had mindwarped him into believing that he cared about Antar more than anything on Earth. She needed to deliver all three of them; otherwise the deal wouldn’t have been complete.
It didn’t matter now though, with Khivar being dead and all. But she didn’t care. She didn’t care that she had stuffed up the lives of three good people. They were home now, where they belonged. Nothing else mattered.
Tess wasn’t the type of person who would think of others, nor was she the person who listened to other people. She wanted to fight in this battle, whether Max liked it or not. Tess knew she was the strongest of the four, so why the hell should she be waiting around in some chamber, while her planet falls apart?
She had made up her mind. She was going out there, and no one was going to stop her. She focused her mind. She had been building up her mind warp powers ever since they came home. Back on Earth, she would have never been able to control the minds of hundreds of people, but now... she was different. Stronger, her powers were more powerful than ever before. So she got up and walked out of the chamber easily, and not one of the others looked up at her.
Earth
“It feels like...my life didn't even start until I told you the truth that day.” Max said. “Yeah. I know what you mean. Max...” she trailed off. “ Yeah?” he replied. She took a breath. “Umm...I know that we agreed, you know, not...not to feel a certain way about each other.” “Yeah.” “Do you still think that's a good idea?”
“I better go,” Max said. “Why?” She replied. “Cuz if I don't go right now, things are gonna change.” “Change, how?” she asked, even though she already knew the answer. Max reached out and touched her hair. “I'm gonna have to touch your hair...cuz it's so soft...and I'd have to tell you that...no matter what we go through, it's all worthwhile for me because we're together.” “And then?” “And then...I'd have to do this...” Max pulled her into his embrace and kissed her.
“Ok. Fine. If you know so much, then tell me, Max...what's my destiny?” She asked. “I only know the part I'm hoping for.” He replied.
“I guess that this is our goodbye. Just tell me one thing do you love her?” She didn’t want to hear his answer. She was too afraid of what it might be. “Not like I love you,” Max replied.
Liz sat up in her bed. Sweat ran off her body and she could hear her heavy breathing in the coldness of her apartment. She had had one of her dreams again. Flashes of times she had spent with Max, the feelings that they had shared. They all ended the same way, where she talked to Max for the very last time.
Liz tried to clear her head of every thought and memory of Max Evans. She had tried for 5 years. When a day came along when she didn’t think about him, she would have another dream, and started the whole process over again.
If she could just know that he was safe and happy, maybe then she would be able to let go. She often wondered if he thought about her too. If he could pull himself away from his happy life with his son and perhaps now even his wife, maybe he did think of her.
Did he know of all the pain and suffering he had caused her? Did he know that she was part like him now? A tear ran down her cheek. Max had healed her, loved her and left her to rot. He left her with new powers growing inside of her. When they had come she had had no idea of what to do.
All of his life Max had had the fear of getting exposed, but he had left, and now she was the one who went down for it. She had to hide what she was, but she was so confused. How could she hide what she is when she doesn’t even know what she is? Is she human or alien? She could do all the things that Max could do, but she still remained with human blood cells. So that made her human, right?
She thought about Maria and Kyle. They had both been so supportive all along. Kyle never ended up getting his own powers, so they guessed that it was because Liz was so bonded to Max after the healing.
Maria continued living her life; she didn’t let it show how much Michael had affected her. But Liz knew. She tried talking to her about it, but Maria always shrugged her off and said, “As long as he is happy, I’m happy. He finally found what he has been searching for. I kinda like to think that I helped him do that, you know?” Maria was the strongest person that Liz knew. She envied how Maria could stand up for herself and not let someone walk all over her and ruin her life.
Liz lay back down in her bed. That is exactly what I need to do, she thought to herself. So she made a pact, from the moment she woke up in the morning, the world was going to see a different Liz Parker. She was going to get her life back, and she was going to do it now.

I'm with you,
Whenever you tell,
My story,
For I am all I've done
Remember, I will still be here,

ok, ive got it done. I was in a rush to do it cuz i really wanted to get it posted tonight, so excuse any spelling mistakes or sentences that don't make any sense!
Part Three
Antar
Tess stepped out of the chamber and looked around. She couldn’t see anyone, but she could hear the loud echoing noises of the fight. She heard screams of pain and anger; words couldn’t describe how she loved the sound of suffering.
Her face let out an evil grin as she realised she was about to be part of it, she could kill whoever she wanted this time, and she wouldn’t get judged for it. She is just going to help her race, so killing a lot of enemies wouldn’t make her a bad person would it now?
She remembered how it felt to kill Alex. Even though it was by accident, a mistake, she could still remember the adrenalin that rushed through her entire body, and the glory of the power. Causing death and misery to someone else made her feel more alive than ever. It made her feel alien.
That day she had let go of everything human inside of her. She had woken up from the dream of Earth, and let the full alien side of her come out. Oh how she loved it. She didn’t have to care about anyone, didn’t have to think of her actions.
She had found Ava inside of her. She could remember what it felt like to be her, she remembered Antar. None of the others understood. All they knew was Earth. That was all they wanted to know. It was like they didn’t even care about their planet or their destinies. No, they had the perfect life, they had all found someone who they loved, and were surrounded by people who cared about them.
They didn’t understand what it was like for her. She had lived all her life on Earth with a man who didn’t have feelings or emotions. She had lived her life running and hiding from everyone. She wasn’t safe anywhere. Then she finally found who she had been looking for her whole life. And it turned out that they didn’t even know she existed.
They didn’t even notice her when she was there. They thought of her as someone getting in the way of their happy perfect lives. They had all found their soul mates; she was the odd one out. So she had to cause destruction to others so that she didn’t feel so left out anymore. When Alex had died Isabel was left without a partner, which made her feel slightly better about herself.
She had tempted Max with mindwarps, she did everything in her power to get him to leave Liz. It had taken Max a lot longer to wake up from his perfect fantasy land and face reality. He was so stupid. He couldn’t see what that bitch Liz was doing to him. He was hiding from himself, hiding from Zan, who was deep down inside of him reaching to get out.
But she had worked on him. She never gave up. She was there for him in his worst moments, and she had put on an act of pretending to care about his feelings. She was getting sick of it. But finally it all payed off and he had slept with her. So then she was left with a baby and Max who didn’t want to go anywhere else with the relationship. So she made Max think that the baby was dying on Earth. She would do anything to get home.
So finally they all left the stinking planet, and she couldn’t have been happier. They could return to the life they were always supposed to have. But even then things weren’t right. She always felt distant from Max, and it was obvious to see that Michael and Isabel were happier on Earth. They hadn’t been with anyone since they came to Antar. They were such wimps. They should just get over it and deal with it. This is their life now there was no going back.
By now Tess was firing up all of her energy, and as soon as the first enemy came into her sight, she sent him flying through the air, exploding as he hit the ground. “Oh yeah,” she said to herself. “This is gonna be fun.”
Earth
Liz woke up in the morning and immediately felt like a different person. She hummed to herself as she got in the shower. She started singing, holding her hand to her mouth acting as a microphone.
At first I was afraid, I was petrified,
thought I could never live without you by my side,
and I spent so many nights thinking of how you did me wrong
but I grew strong, and I learnt how to get along....
By now Liz was out of the shower and fully dancing around her bedroom as she got dressed. She felt totally free, something she hadn’t felt in a long, long time. She was making the most of it.
***************
Liz drove straight to the crashdown. Every morning before she went to work she stopped by to say hello to her parents and also get something to eat. As she walked in her eyes fell on Maria who was sitting at the counter. “Maria!” she called out. The practically skipped up to Maria and gave her a huge hug.
“Ah, Liz. Struggling to get some air here,” Maria gasped out. “Oh sorry,” Liz replied as she pulled out of her hug. “Liz, what happened? Did you just win something?” Maria asked, taking note of the obvious change in Liz’s attitude. “Maria today is the first day of the rest of my life!” Liz squealed, still prancing around her.
“Um...that’s nice,” Maria replied, sounding a bit uncertain. “Maria, from now on, I am letting go of every single bit of Czechoslovakian business. They are gone from my life, all of them, bam!” “Wow,” Maria replied. “Even Max?” She asked. “Max who?” Liz said, putting on a clueless expression, trying to act like she didn’t know who Maria was talking about.
“Aw I’m so happy for you Liz!” Maria exclaimed. “It was killing me to know you were suffering.” “Yeah, I know it was,” Liz replied. “I just couldn’t handle it anymore, I had to get my life back.” “Well I’m glad.” Maria concluded. Liz looked at her watch. “Oh shot I’m late for work! I was so excited I forgot about the time!” Before Maria could say anything else Liz was out the door.
Maria sighed to herself. Even though she was so happy about Liz’s moment of happiness, she knew that was all it was. A moment. She knew her best friend. It wouldn’t be long before something came up that reminded her of Max, and she would be back to her usual state again.
***************
Liz rushed through the hospital. She quickly turned a corner and bumped into someone. She stumbled backwards and was about to fall when strong arms caught her. She took control of herself then looked up at the person who was holding her. She let out a little gasp at what was standing in front of her. The young man standing in front of her was incredible, perfect. He had tanned skin, blue eyes and blonde hair, bleached by the sun. She guessed he must surf quite a lot in his spare time. But the best thing was he was completely the opposite of Max, nothing there to remind her of him.
He let go of her. “Are you ok?” he asked. His voice made Liz go weak in the knees. It was so gentle and soft. “Y...yes, thankyou.” She stumbled. “Ah, I see you have already met are newest member of this hospital Parker.” Doctor Jackson’s deep voice sounded from behind her. He came up and stood next to her. “This is Ben, he is a practicing doctor like you Liz.” Doctor Jackson then turned to Ben. “This is Liz Parker, she is one of the smartest and the most eager practicing doctor here.”
Liz’s cheeks turned red. She scolded herself. This was not like her at all. What was wrong with her? She felt almost like she was...attracted to this guy. But she wasn’t sure. She couldn’t actually remember what it really felt like to know if you liked a guy or not. But she wanted to find out. She was willing to see where this would take her. She smiled as she looked into his eyes. Like she was saying to Maria before, this was the first day of the rest of her life, so why not?

Part Four
Antar
Tess fought through the entire night. She had never felt such power as she did then. She had sent enemies flying through the air; she had made them die ways she never thought possible. And she loved it. Never had her powers been so useful.
Tess felt someone hit her from behind; it had caught her off guard. She collapsed onto the floor, and then gradually turned around to face her attacker. He was big, looked strong. But not too strong that she couldn’t take him out too. She raised her hand to send him flying, but he was too quick for her. She felt herself fly through the air and land heavily on the ground, the pain piecing through her body. It almost made her scream, but she didn’t, she was to good for that.
He slowly walked towards her, and she scrambled around, willing herself to get up, but she couldn’t. She was so weakened, and she hated herself for it. She wasn’t supposed to be weak; she needed to fight to the very end. But her will power didn’t help her. Her attacker went down on his knees before her. He put his hand over her body and started to suck the life out of her.
Tess wailed in agony, she had never experienced this type of pain before. The images around her started to fade, and everything she was hearing started to come in a big blur. All the screaming in the background and the angry cries sounded further and further away. It was at this point that Tess realised she was dying. She was going to die right here and now. After all she had worked for, it all ended tonight.
Suddenly, with a bright light, her attacker was thrown away from her. With the little energy she had left she made out the figure of her saver. “Max,” she said faintly. “Tess!” Max said as he kneeled beside her. “What the hell are you doing out here, where’s Zan?” His voice sounded muffled to her, she tried to answer back, but slowly she felt herself pass out.
Earth
Liz went around the hospital, doing her duties as usual. She could still remember the smell of Ben. It arose something in her that she hadn’t felt for a long time. Not since Max had left anyway. But Ben was different, he was...human. If she were to go out with him, it would be so normal. Nothing to worry about, no FBI spies, no special unit. It would just be him and her.
Liz smiled to herself. She couldn’t remember when anything had sounded so simple. It was then that she stopped herself from her private little fantasy. She wasn’t going out with him, hell, she had only just met him. What was wrong with her? Part of her felt like she needed him right there and now because she had been alone for so long. Another part wanted him because she wanted to pay back Max for everything that he had done to her. All the tears she had cried.
She felt stupid. Even if she did go out with this Ben guy, how the hell would Max know? Would he even care? He was probably up there in Antar having the time of his life with his whole new family. He probably hadn’t even thought of her once in the whole five years since he had left.
Liz felt so depressed. She had actually believed him when he had said that he loved her. She had believed him when he said he didn’t feel anything for Tess. She had believed him when he had said that his home was on Earth, and that he would never leave. When Alex died, she believed him when he had promised that he would never stop being her friend.
But he had broken that promise. And now she wondered if any of the things he had said to her were true. Maybe he was just an alien, with no human side at all. Maybe he didn’t have a conscience, which told him that he was wrong, and that he was hurting so many people. Anyone in their right mind wouldn’t have gone to Tess.
Tess had brought out the worst in Max Isabel’s hopes and dreams of getting out of Roswell to start a normal life. He would not let her go even three hours out of Roswell, yet he took her away somewhere who knows how many light years away. Isabel was so forgiving of Max. Liz never stopped wondering why. He had ripped her feelings apart, and as soon as he needed comfort, Isabel was right there at his side.
Liz shook her head as she prepared to go home. She knew Max wasn’t really like that. She knew how sweet and kind Max could be. Maybe she was thinking all that negative stuff because she so badly wanted to believe it. It was easier for her to think that she was dumped by a bad person than the best person she had ever met in the whole world.
Liz walked out of the hospital and got into her car. Her car wouldn’t start. She tried it again. Nothing happened. “Shit!” she yelled out. Just at that moment Ben walked past, and noticed her obvious frustration. He knocked on the car window. Liz opened her window and stared into his sky blue eyes. “H..hi.” she said. “Hey,” Ben replied. He gestured towards her keys. “Car won’t start?” “Nuh,” Liz just managed to get out. “You wanna left home?” he asked. Liz didn’t need time to think about it. “Yes,” she replied immediately.

sorry I'm not really updating that often. I have been so incredably busy recently. but here is the next part.
Part 5
Antar
Max carried Tess back to where Isabel was anxiously waiting. She immediately sat up at the sight of them. “Oh my god Max, I’m so sorry, I didn’t know she had gone out there!” “Shh,” Max whispered. “It’s not your fault. Just help me with her here. She’s badly hurt.” Isabel reached over and helped Max lower Tess down. “How’s it looking outside Max?” Isabel questioned.
“Not good. Whenever I think its nearly over, more of them keep coming. I just…I just don’t know what to do.” Max’s voice trailed off. He sat down and held his head in his hands. “Are you ok?” Isabel asked. Max looked up at her and saw the concerned look on her face. “I’m fine..At the moment. But I’m not gonna be if we stay here.” “Max, what are you saying?” Isabel questioned.
Max looked at her. At that moment he couldn’t express the affection he felt for his sister. He loved her so much; he would do anything for her. She was the only family he had, well here anyway. Neither of them had forgotten about their parent’s back on Earth. He even heard Isabel crying at night. She cried a lot, for their parents, for Alex, for the life she had left behind. Sometimes she cried for Max. She was the only one that could see that he was silently dying inside, it was only a matter of time before he would break down. She sometimes forgot that she wasn’t the only one that had given up everything.
When they first arrived on Antar, Isabel thought Max was happy. He put on a brave face, and held Tess by his side. But slowly all the life and person that he used to be faded from his eyes. She caught him sometimes, sitting alone outside, staring up at the sky, searching the stars. She wondered if he still thought about Liz. He had never mentioned her name once, in five years. Whenever someone else had brought up her name, he would tense, and change the subject.
Isabel’s suspicions of Max still loving Liz were proven when she found a photo of them together inside one of Max’s draws. So, she cried for him too.
Max rubbed his head, obvious that there were many thoughts running through his head. “I’m going to get Michael. I’ve just had enough. I’m not King, Isabel. I never was. I just want to be free.” Without saying another word, Max turned around and started to walk away. “Max, the fight, it’s still going on!” Isabel yelled after him. Max just kept walking.
Earth
Ben’s car came to a stop outside Liz’s house. It had been a five-minute ride, but for Liz, it had seemed like forever. None of them had said a word to each other, occasionally Liz would look over at him, and then he would look at her. Liz would then turn away quickly, blushing. She felt like a silly schoolgirl again.
“So, this is your house,” Ben said, breaking the ice. “Um, more like my apartment.” Liz replied quickly. “Ok, apartment it is then.” Ben laughed. Oh god he was hot. Liz felt her cheeks turning that too familiar red colour again. “Um, so I better go,” she said. She started to get out of the car. “Wait Liz.” She felt his hand on her shoulder. She turned around to face him.
“Look, this is Friday, I’m not gonna see you again till Monday. That kinda sucks.” Liz laughed to herself. He may be hot, but he certainly wasn’t that great with small talk. “So, you know, I was thinking, do you like, wanna do something tonight?” Liz smiled. “Like what?” she replied. “How about, dinner?” Ben smiled at her; it made her heart melt. She wasn’t used to seeing a guy smile. Max hardly ever smiled.
Liz stopped herself in the middle of her thought. No, Liz, no! What the hell are you doing thinking about Max! “Ummm, sure I would love to have dinner, Ben.” She looked straight into his eyes. “Great.” Ben said. “Pick you up at eight?”
Antar
Max, Isabel, Michael, Zan and the unconscious Tess were alone in Max and Tess’s bedroom. Max was pacing up and down. Isabel was sitting down with Zan on her lap. “What’s on your mind, Maxwell?” Michael asked. “We’re not safe here. It doesn’t matter how hard we try, our enemy’s just keep coming. There is nothing we can do.” Max stated. “Max, I agree, I mean, it’s never been safe, but we have to keep fighting. It’s all we can do.” Michael replied.
“No, it’s not all we can do.” Said Max. “We don’t have to live like this. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I didn’t chose this life, so I can walk out of it any time I want.” “Max,” Isabel started. “You did chose this life. You chose it the day we got into the granolith and went away.” Max sighed. “Actually, you chose this the day you decided to get into Tess’s pants!” Michael said angrily. “What, so this is all my fault now?” Max raised his voice. “Yes it is!” Michael shouted back. “I was doing fine there on Earth, and I’m pretty sure Isabel was too. We didn’t want to come back here, but we came for you, Max.”
“What are you talking about Michael? You were not doing fine on Earth, you were the one who was always looking for ways to get home!” “Yeah but I changed my mind!” Michael argued. Zan let out a scream. “Why are you shouting?” he asked through sobs. Isabel calmed him down.
“Yeah, and what made you change your mind Michael?” Max pressured, toning his voice down. Michael fell silent. “Come on Michael. Tell us all why you wanted to stay on Earth. It will do you good to finally show that you have feelings for a change!” Michael scratched his eyebrow. “Ok, Max. Fine. I wanted to stay because of Maria. I loved her, ok? I LOVED HER!” Michael’s voice had risen to a shout again.
Max was shocked. By the look on Isabel’s face he could tell she was shocked too. Michael sat down on the bed. “Ok, Max. I’ve told you how I really feel. Now you tell us about your secret feelings.” Max started to pace again. “What are you talking about Michael,” he mumbled. “See!” Michael said, pointing at him. “Why are you looking at the floor, Max? Why can’t you look at me and Isabel in the face!” There was silence.
“Come on Max,” Michael pressured. “You tell me I should show my feelings. Now you can look Isabel and me in the face and tell us straight that you are not hiding your feelings too. Come on! Tell us now that you are not in love with Liz, that you don’t think about her. That all your love and devotion is for Tess only.” Max’s breath stopped at the sound of Liz’s name. He tried to hide his trembling, but it didn’t go unnoticed by the others.
“Come on Michael, we have all had a really bad day, let’s stop this.” Isabel pleaded. “No Is, I think Max here is about to tell us something,” Michael replied, not taking his eyes off Max. More silence. Finally Max looked up, and cleared his throat. “None of us our safe here. I’ve made my decision. We are going back.” “What?” Michael said, his interest finally changed. “We are going back to Roswell, pack the stuff we need. We are going now.” Isabel and Michael exchanged worried glances.

Why can’t you look at me and Isabel in the face!” There was silence.

ok, here is the next part. the ending is a bit rushed, I need to go out but I really wanted to post this so yeh sorry if the last bit is a bit...weird? ok anyway here it is.
Part 6
Earth
Liz stared at her reflection in the mirror. She had spent the last two hours picking out what she was going to wear, and eventually getting ready. So there she stood, she had on red top, (the best top she owned) with a light flowing black skirt. She had done her hair up in a messy yet neat bun, and let some of her hair fall down into her face, near her soft brown eyes. It had been a long time since Liz had dressed up for a date. She almost couldn’t remember what to do. She felt the butterflies start swelling in her stomach, and scolded herself. She must be the only 22 year old on the whole planet who was still afraid of dating.
She walked into her bathroom and opened the cupboard. After digging around in there for a wile, she found her box where she kept all of her special makeup. Her most expensive makeup, used only for really special occasions. She hadn’t touched this box in five years. It was old and fragile, used to be her grandma Claudia’s. She had admired her grandma more than anyone in the whole world. She had the most amazing strength and braveness to face up to anything life threw at her.
Liz held the box close to her heart. “Please Grandma,” she whispered, eyes shut. “Please help me tonight. Help me have your strength.” As she carried it through to her bedroom, she blew all the dust of the top, and wiped it clear with her hand. ‘God,’ she thought to herself. ‘Have I really been hiding this much?’ She carefully put her box down on her dressing table.
She opened it slowly, remembering the last time that she had done so. It would have been for the prom in her second last year at school. She shook the memory from her head. That was not a night she wanted to remember. She reached out to her favourite lipstick. As soon as she touched it, she felt faint, and images started rushing through her head.
Flash
Liz is putting on the lipstick, just before she has to go downstairs and confront her ’blind date’.
Finding Max and Kyle in her bedroom, and Max stealing her away into the night.
Max being drunk, telling her that she is his dreamgirl, and that they would live happily ever after.
Then finally Max realising what he has said and done, and walking away from her, not for the first time, and definitely not the last time.
Flash
Liz stumbled back, shocked. She has not expected that at all. This time she didn’t just see the flashes, she felt them too. She felt her love and longing for Max when he told her she was his dreamgirl, she also felt her feeling of betrayal and emptiness when he had walked away from her. Too many times had she seen the back of Max. Too many times had he blown her away with words, then left her feeling small, vulnerable, and most of all, unloved.
Liz heard a knock at the door. Butterflies arose again. She took a last look at herself in the mirror, and gave a small smile. “Tonight, I’m turning my back on you, Max.” She said to herself. “And once I do, I’m never turning back around.” Liz picked up her bag that was lying on her bed, then walked downstairs to meet Ben.
Antar
It was the dead of night. Everyone was sleeping, except Max, Michael, and Isabel. They had packed everything they needed, and were heading to their ship. Isabel and Michael hadn’t protested when Max had told them that they were going back. They were loyal to him; they would go wherever he did. But they wouldn’t lie and say that they didn’t want to go. They had been waiting for this moment for a long, long time. Both of them. They always wanted to go back to Earth; it was their real home. They didn’t belong here on Antar. Zan, Rath, Vilandra and Ava did, and they were not them.
They moved silently through the night, Max in the lead, carrying the still unconscious Tess. Sure, he could have healed her, been a lot more helpful if she was awake. But Max wanted her to learn how stupid she had been. It wasn’t like she was seriously hurt. Her body just needed to recover and build up strength again.
Behind him walked Michael and Isabel, Michael carrying their stuff, and Isabel cradling Zan. Finally they got to their ship, and all stepped inside. They had never been inside this one before. It was a lot more spacious than the granolith had been, it even had beds to sleep on.
Max lay Tess down on one of the beds as Isabel put Zan on another. They looked around at their surroundings. It truly was Antar’s greatest ship. Max started the ship. He looked over at Michael and Isabel. “This isn’t as fast as the granolith.” He said. “It will take us a bit longer to get there.” Michael and Isabel nodded. They didn’t ask how long, they didn’t want to know. All they cared about was they were finally going home, to where they belonged.
Max looked over at his son. Emotions always poured out of him whenever he looked at Zan. Words couldn’t describe what he felt for him. He just knew that he would always be there to protect him, no matter what. Lastly, he looked at Tess, mother of Zan. Was that all she was to him? He didn’t know. He never understood his feelings for Tess. Tess, who didn’t know they were going back, and would probably wake only once they had reached Earth.

hey everyone! ok this part is really really short but i wanted to get something up. i havn't had much time to write this, been really busy lately, but hopefully i will have time to really get into writting this. anyway.
all of liz's thoughts are in italics.
Part 7.a
Earth
Liz walked up to her door. She quickly took a look at her reflection in the mirror, which was hanging on the wall, then took a deep breath before opening the door. For a moment she lost her breath. He looked…she couldn’t put words to it. “Hey Liz,” he said, snapping Liz out of her haze. “Oh! Hi Ben!” she said, putting on a really big smile.
Ben pulled white roses from behind his back. “Oh my god,” Liz whispered. She then cleared her throat and spoke up. “White roses are my favourite. How did you know?” Ben smiled at her. “Ok I confess, I kinda got in touch with Maria, and she said that these were your favourite.” Liz opened her mouth again to speak, but Ben beat her to it. “And I asked Dr. Jackson if he could give me one of your friends numbers so I could find that out.”
Ben scratched the back of his neck as he talked. Was that a nervous sign? Liz chuckled to herself. Maybe he was just as nervous as she was.“I wanted tonight to be perfect,” Ben continued, “I like to give out good first impressions, ever since I saw how Pia Miranda responded to her, well, not so good impression date in Looking For Alabrandi!” Ben grinned at her, and she grinned back. God that grin is so cute! “Well, I like what I see,” she said. “You look beautiful, red is your colour.” Ben said. I know, Max told me that once.
Liz scoldered herself. What the hell was she doing thinking of Max when she had one of the hottest guys on Earth, and may she add, from Earth, standing right in front of her! “Well, do you wanna get going?” Ben asked. Liz smiled at him. She nodded and quickly went and put her roses in a vase, then met Ben again outside.
She quickly walked down the steps of her apartment, looked up and froze. There was Ben, standing in front of a…a limo! “Oh my god!” She shrieked out, nearly making Ben jump. She ran up to the limo and jumped up and down in excitement. Ben smiled at her, happy that she was pleased. He opened the door for her, bowed and said, “ladies first!” Liz grinned at him as she slid herself into the limo without hesitation. Then Ben slid in next to her, and gestured towards the champagne. “This must have cost you so much!” Liz exclaimed. “Don’t say anything about money, there is no price for pleasing a lady.” Ben stated, pouring her a glass of the champagne. As Liz took it she thought her life could not get any more wonderful.

Kyle heard a knock on his door. He went up to answer it but before he could Maria came bursting through. “Hey Kyle!” she exclaimed as she waked straight past him and made herself at home, sitting on his couch. Kyle smiled at her. “Hi Maria,” he replied.
Kyle, Maria and Liz had all become incredibly close over the past five years. They were always there for each other during the first year after Max, Michael, Isabel and Tess had left, offering comfort whenever needed. It had been the hardest year for all three of them, having to deal with the fact that they were gone forever, and that Tess was the killer of Alex. If they hadn’t had each other they probably wouldn’t have been able to get themselves back on track. They all managed to graduate from school, and Liz still managed to be one of the top students in the year.
“ So what do ya wanna do tonight Maria?” Kyle asked. “Tonight, we are going clubbing! And we are gonna find you a lady, and I’m gonna find myself a man!” Maria looked so serious that Kyle burst out laughing. “What’s so funny Kyle?” Maria questioned, glaring at him. “You!” Kyle laughed. Maria shrugged it off. “Come on Kyle, let’s get going!” She stood up from the couch as walked to the door. “Is Liz coming?” Kyle asked. “Didn’t you hear?” She got herself a date with this new Doctor friend of hers.” Kyle raised his eyebrows. “So I guess its just us boring singles tonight,” Kyle said. Maria nodded. “Yep, but we ain’t gonna be single for long! We’re gonna hit the dance floor and I promise you Kyle, we are gonna have the best time tonight! Come on let’s go!” She took his hand and they raced out the door. Kyle smiled. Clubbing wasn’t usually his scene, but for some reason, tonight he really wanted to. Maybe he could find some happiness for once in his life.

hey guys! ok this part is gonna be really short but i need to finish off part 7. then hopefully i can get working on part 8 and make it longer.
well anyway. thanx heaps for all the fb, i really appreciate it!

Part 7.b
Liz was off in her own dream world. The last 10 minutes had been great. She had sat in a limo drinking champagne and talking to Ben. It was amazing how much you could get to know someone in such a short time. She felt a slight envy of Ben’s life. He had travelled, seen the world. His life was simple, and most of all normal. But my life is normal now too. Liz thought. I am free to do anything I want.
“ So have you travelled, Liz?” Ben asked. “No, I’ve never really thought much about it,” Liz lied. I’ve wanted to travel more than anything. Ben shook his head. “That’s a shame, you should really go somewhere Liz. I can’t describe some of the amazing things I’ve seen. You just, have to be there to believe it. Amazing.” Ben said, a far away look on his face, as if he was remembering some of his past journeys. “Yeh, maybe someday.” Liz said quietly.
Ben looked at her. This girl was a mystery. It was like she had some hidden secret, that no one knew about. “Yeh, when you get a bit more settled down, maybe.” He replied. “How about you?” Liz asked. “ I mean, are you ever, settled down?” Ben sighed. “No, not really. I’m always moving around, visiting new places, sometimes living there for quite a while. There has never really been a reason for me to stay in one place. But maybe this place is just what I am looking for. It’s a quiet place; I’m working to get a great job. Oh, and the people here are great too.” He shot a smile at Liz, which made her heart melt. “Ah,” is all Liz could say as she nodded her head.
*************************************************************
Kyle wondered through the crowds of people, and finally found Maria sitting at the bar. She was chatting up some guy sitting next to her, and Kyle couldn’t help but notice the way she curled her hair around her finger as she spoke. He was about to go up to her when he felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned around to see a blonde standing before him.
“Kyle Valenti.” She said. “Imagine meeting you here!” It only took Kyle a second to remember who she was. “Hey, um, Kara.” Oh Lord get me outta here!!!! He had met Kara in collage, and at first she seemed ok. But it seemed that every day she got dumber and dumber. He had heard that she got kicked out of the collage. He could tell she didn’t go there anymore because he stopped bumping into her everywhere. It was like she had built up some kind of obsession with him. Where ever he went, she was always there.
“Hehe, I haven’t seen you for aggggggeeeeessss Kyle!” Kyle winced. He hated that laugh. Bad, bad memories. “So are you just gonna leave me standing here or are you gonna ask me to dance?” Kara asked. Kyle opened his mouth to answer but Kara already had her arm wrapped around his and leading him to where all the other people were dancing. Thanks Maria, this night is gonna be fantastic. Kyle thought as he was led onto the dance floor.

Part 8
The limo finally pulled to a stop. Ben got out his side of the limo, then went around the other side to open it for Liz. As she was stepping out he took her hand. “Thankyou,” Liz mumbled. “Pleasure’s all mine Liz,” he replied. Liz couldn’t help but notice how warm his hand felt in hers.
They both walked up to the restaurant, hand in hand. Liz was in such a daze that she didn’t realise where they were. She let out a small gasp when she raised her head to see the restaurant that they were at. “Ben,” she gasped. “This is like the most expensive restaurant in Roswell!” “Don’t worry about it Liz, I’ve got it covered,” Ben replied. Liz couldn’t argue with that, Ben sure did have enough money. But she felt strange, she hardly knew Ben, and she didn’t want him spending that much money on her. “Liz, I don’t care that this is, you know, like our first date. I just want it to be special, please don’t worry about it,” Ben said, as if he had read her mind.
***********************************************************
Kyle was going absolutely insane. He had spent the last five hours ‘dancing’ with Kara. Ok, maybe it had only been ten minutes, but it certainly seemed like it had been that long for Kyle. And he was getting quite tired of Kara’s dancing, which involved pushing her body against his and flicking her hair everywhere, every so often getting it in his eyes. And by now he had seen enough cleavage to last him a lifetime.
Every single song that came on Kara claimed to be her favourite song, and that it brought back memories of their ‘special time together.’ Hell, there was no excape with this woman.
Kyle looked over Kara’s shoulder to see Maria standing there, still at the bar, except she was now alone, and laughing at him. Kyle mouthed the word ‘help’ to her, and Maria put on a confused face, pretending that she had no idea what Kyle was talking about. Then she broke out in a laugh again.
Kyle sent another look at her, this time more pleading, and Maria decided that she better go rescue Kyle, otherwise he would always hold it against her. Quickly she went over different ways in her mind that she could get Kyle away from Kara’s grasp, but only one solution seemed to jump out at her. Maria put on a grin as she walked over to them both, thrilled that she was getting the chance to do what she does best.
“Kyle!” She shrieked, putting on her best Pam Troy voice. “Oh, Maria! Ummm….” Kyle muttered. “I can’t, I just can not believe this! I go to the bathroom and leave you alone for what? Ten minutes? And you are already dancing with another girl!!” Maria had her hands on her hips, and put on the best pouting face that she could. “Maria, this isn’t what it looks like,” Kyle said.
“Oh it isn’t? It looks like your eyes have wondered in a different direction. You are supposed to be paying attention to me! Not to this…God! What are you wearing!” Maria said, pointing at Kara’s boots, and wrinkling up her nose in disgust.
“God Kyle! You could have picked out someone with at least a bit of fashion sense!” Her attention turned to Kara. “What is your name anyway?” “Umm…Kara,” she said quietly. Kyle had to resist the urge not to smile. Ahh, the look on Kara’s face was priceless.
“Well let me tell you something Kara, my boyfriend, he does this all the time. So don’t go home tonight thinking that you are like some goddess ok? Because you’re not! Got that?” As Maria finished talking she grabbed Kyle by his ear and yanked him away from the crowd who were dancing, oblivious to what was going on. “Oww,” Kyle winced in pain, and tried to put on a scared face, so he could keep the act going until they were out of site.
***********************************************************
Liz and Ben sat at a table in the restaurant. Liz went to take another sip of her wine, then realised it was finished. Her eyes flew open in surprise. It was finished already? They had been sitting there for what? Like five minutes? Oh God she really needed help getting through tonight. Why couldn’t she just relax?
“So Liz, where did you go to highschool?” Ben asked. “Um, Roswell Hight. I graduated five years ago.” Ben could sense pain in her voice, and decided not to push the subject. “Well, I went to school in LA,” Ben said, trying to stir away Liz from whatever it was that she was thinking. Liz stared at him, silently shaking her hand. “You had great opportunities over there. I still don’t believe that you gave it all up to come here.”
“Well, yeah it was a risky move. But it was like something was pulling me here, like Roswell is where I needed to go. And besides,” Ben said while taking a sip of her wine. “I’m beginning to think it was worth it.” Ben caught Liz’s eye and they continued to silently stare at each other until the waiter came to take their order.
**********************************************************
Maria and Kyle stood outside the nightclub, their laughter draining out the sound of the raindrops falling all around them. They quickly ran for Maria’s car, in an attempt not to get wet, however once they had reached Maria’s car they were both saturated from head to toe. They quickly hopped in the car and burst out laughing again.
“You are a legend Maria,” Kyle said, shaking his head. “Well, yeah I am,” she said. If you ever need a jealous girlfriend, you know who to call!” She said, while trying to squeeze the water out of her hair. She looked at her reflection in her car mirror. “You know, I’m gonna go brunette.” She stated, still trying to dry her hair. Kyle looked at her in disbelief. “Maria, you went brunette like, two years ago. You couldn’t wait to get your hair blonde again.”
He said. “Yeah sure, then,” she said, looking at Kyle like he was the dumbest human on Earth. “It’s all in the mood, Kyle. And right now I feel like being brunette. I’ll talk to Liz about it later.”
Kyle gave her a concerned look. “Maria…” He started. “Because, it’s a lot cheaper if Liz just does it for me, she did last time.” Maria continued. “Maria!” Kyle said sternly, and sighed when he finally got her attention. “I don’t think it’s a great idea asking Liz to use her powers right now. She’s just starting to get her life back, and I haven’t seen her use her powers in months. Maybe she doesn’t ever want to use them again.”
“But, its just a simple change of hair colour Kyle,” Maria said.
“Yeah, I know. But it might mean a lot more than that to Liz.” Kyle sighed again when he saw the confused look on Maria’s face.
“What I would give to have the power to do some of the things Liz can.” Maria said.
“It might seem that way when you are on the outside, but when its happening to you, it’s not so great. I don’t have any place to say how Liz feels, since my powers just never came.” Kyle paused. “But, I remember how it felt every morning when I woke up in the fear of knowing that I might be…alien. The fear of accidentally blowing something up, exposing the people I cared about in public. And Liz has to deal with that, everyday. So, while it seems like a luxury, it’s not. It really isn’t. And maybe all Liz may want is to be normal, and we have to respect that.”
“I hear you Kyle,” Maria whispered, and turned her gaze to outside the window. They both continued to sit there in silence, until Maria finally spoke. “So much for a fun night out, huh.” She said.
*********************************************************
Ben and Liz walked slowly up to her apartment door. Liz felt the feeling of apprehension dawn upon her as she thought of what was to come.
“Well, thankyou for the lovely dinner Ben,” Liz said. Ben reached forward and wiped a piece of hair from Liz’s face and slowly lent forward to kiss her. As he came closer towards her, his hair turned from blonde to dark brown, and his blue eyes turned amber. Suddenly standing before her was Max. She reached out a shaky hand and touched his face. Max! She screamed in her head. You’re really here; you came back to me!
She lent forward and kissed him with all the heart and passion that she once gave to Max, only to Max. Finally she pulled away, and was shocked and confused to see Ben. “Goodnight Liz,” he whispered in her ear, then walked back to his car.
Liz couldn’t remember opening the door, but somehow she ended up sitting inside, leaning against the wall. “Why can’t I just let him go?” She whispered, as the tears started to fall down her cheeks.

Part 9
Yeah I'm waitin' for you, it's been so long
Yeah I'm waitin' for you, it's been so long
Yeah I'm sad when I'm on my own
They said it takes a long long time
If it's not too much
Could you hear me now
You promised me you'd always be
When I wake up please come around again
Come around again
You promised me you'd always be
When I wake up please come around again
Come around again yeah
Yeah I'm waitin' for you, it's been so long
Yeah I'm sad when I'm all alone
They said it takes a long long time
If it's not too much
Could you hear me now
You promise me you'd always be
When I wake up please come around again
Come around again
You promised me you'd always be
When I wake up please come around again
Come around again
Yeah there's something I was thinking about
Get it out of my head
Yeah there's something I was kicking around
Somethin' you said I don't know when I'm right
I only know when I'm wrong
When you gonna leave some light to show it all
And keep the lights from going off
Coz I don't see
Yeah I'm waitin' for you, it's been so long
Yeah I'm lost but I'm at home
They said it takes a long long time
If it's not too much
Could you hear me now
Come around again
Come around again
Please come around again.

I’m Liz Parker, and this is my first entry into my new journal. Over the last four months I have started to rediscover the person I used to be, and I remember that back then journal writing was very important to me. So here I am, starting a new journal, and a new period in my life. I have finally got myself back on my feet. For the first time in what seems like forever, I think I’m going to be ok. I’m going to make it.
Liz, Kyle and Ben all sat together watching Maria sing. It was a table that Maria had specifically picked out and reserved for them, so she could make sure they were listening to her and not sneaking away. It still amused them at how she went to such lengths to keep an eye on them, but the moment she started to sing, she forgot completely that there was even an audience and went off into her own little world.
Maria had been singing at this club for quite a while now, become a regular. And although the pay was quite good, they didn’t let her sing her own songs, and that brought her down a lot. Everyone knew that Maria’s dream was to be able to perform one of her own songs in front of an audience. But as they had all learnt, there is no point in dreaming. It didn’t do them any good.
“Hey Liz I’m gonna get another drink, you want one?” Ben asked as he stood up. “Umm, yeah sure,” she replied, as Ben kissed her head. They had been dating for four months now, and were comfortable around each other. They were actually a normal couple. Liz smiled at the thought.
“Hey what are you smiling about?” asked Kyle, who caught the brief grin that had spread across her face.
“Kyle, do I need I reason to smile? I’m just happy,” Liz replied. “Wow, Liz smiling for no reason. Is the world coming to an end?” Kyle laughed. Not this time. Liz thought. Then she caught onto what he said, and punched him in the arm. “Hey I so do smile all the time!” she said.
****************
“So what did you guys think of my song’s?” asked Maria as they walked out of the club. “Cause, as you noticed, I went for the more up-beat songs this time. A change from the slow daggy love songs, cause you know, the audience might have gotten bored at them. You know they just can’t dance to them, and tonight I saw people dancing that was good cause they were up-beat songs. And I think they were ok did you think they were ok?” Maria managed to say without taking a single breath.
Ben stared at Maria in shook; he had not known Maria for very long, so was not used to her rambling. Liz just shook her head at Maria. “Maria you need to lighten up. Everyone loved you, and you know that. Don’t worry about what they think. They all love you know matter what you sing.” She said.
“Yeah, and that fat guy in the front seemed to get really excited in that song where you took your jacket off.” Kyle mentioned. “Kyle!” Maria and Liz shrieked at the same time. “What? I was just saying, the crowd loves you ‘Ria.” He said, rubbing the top of her head like a puppy dog. “Agh, Kyle you know I hate it when you do that.” Maria said, trying to fix her now messy hair up again. “Yeah I know, doesn’t mean I will stop doing it though.” Kyle replied, just before Liz shoved him.
“Hey what is this, pick on poor little Kyle night?” Kyle complained. Ben put his arm around Kyle’s shoulders. “See Kyle, women are a very sensitive, and you need to rub them the right way. Do one thing to annoy them and you will get shoved my man.” He said, slapping him on the back. “Trust me, I know that,” said Kyle. “Doesn’t mean I get it though. Such weird species, don’t you think?”
“Hey we are standing right behind you!” the girls both said.
******************
Liz, Maria, Kyle and Ben walked into the Crashdown. Liz’s parents still owned it and lived there, so they were constantly stoping in for food after Maria’s performances.
“Hey kids,” said Jeff Parker as he saw them come in. Liz groaned. Twenty-two years old and still being called a kid.
“How was the performance?” he asked, as he got up to bring them some food.
“Maria was great as always,” replied Liz, as they all sat down at one of the tables
“Well I don’t consider it a great performance until I can sing my own songs,” Maria pouted. “Hey you can always sing with my dad and the kit-shickers,” Kyle joked as Jeff brought them the food. Maria groaned. “Kyle I love your dad seriously I do, but there is no way in hell I am singing with that band ever again.” Maria stated. They all went into a silence while they devoured their food.
The silence was broken when Jeff turned on music, and ran to the middle of the room where he started to dance. Liz sunk low in her seat. This was not happening. She looked over at Ben, who was laughing. Ben grabbed her hand and pulled her out of her seat.
“No, Ben no!” she tried to sit back down again. “Come on Liz, we’re dancing!” he said, not taking no for an answer. He led her to the middle of the restaurant where Kyle and Maria had already joined her dad.
Liz laughed as Ben spun her around. She caught a glance of Maria dancing. She remembered how they had all danced that summer before they went back to school. Her, Maria, Isabel and…Tess. But Liz shrugged off the memory, because that is all it was. A memory. Not something that was going to control her life.
“You okay babe?” Ben whispered in her ear. Liz smiled. “I’m great,” she replied. And she truly was. Ben spun her around again, then pulled her in for a kiss. Yep, I’m just fine she thought happily, as she felt Ben’s lips on hers.
But Liz was unaware that at that moment, some two hours out of Roswell, four hybrids who had once destroyed her life had just crashed down on Earth again, unnoticed.
